Solid source has told me that Tottenham may be inerested in Carroll but they are not willing to go above £12m for him.

12m + Bale

Nope not interested!

18 Apr 2013 01:57:31
hmmm I would sell them to him for that as it would sabatoge their attack and help our cause for 4th! :)

To further explain, I think Carroll lacks on the ball speed and movement for their game plan.

18 Apr 2013 08:29:48
That's old news from like a year ago. If AVB has done his homework and watched Carroll at West Ham he would rather chuck 12m on bonfire and let it burn. Money better spent that way :-D

Why Rodgers fails to see that our attack is so predictable in that all our strikers are of the same calibre is beyond me. Carroll could have won us games against West Ham who have physical defenders. Ask Utd how Carroll bullied them to a 2-2 draw.

ed002 you say we'll sign 2 cb's in the summer. do you think that will be one to come in as a starter and another one as a future prospect or 2 established players? e. g. alderwierlend and williams or one of them plus say (i know he hasn't been linked with Liverpool) Lewis Dunk.
Cheers, sorry its long :) {Ed002's Note - Regardless, one will need to arrive as a senior squad member to replace Carragher. The second will be dependent on Skrtel leaving and Coates leaving. Let's consider that perhaps Kelly steps up, that means the club would be looking for an up and coming player to replace Coates. However, that then gives the problem that the already need of beefing up defence could actually be weaker than this year. So for me, one to replace Carragher and one to replace the likely departure of Skrtel. Then the club will be strengthening and still be able to utilise Kelly, and perhaps even Wisdom.}

Kelly and Agger first choice

Alderweireld won't happen

Reckon if Coates and Skrtel follow Carragher out of the club, then 2 Cbs to replace Carra and Skrtel and Kelly replacing Coates at CB and providing cover for RB as well

I would look at samba if we could afford him.

18 Apr 2013 01:59:08
I disagree that our CBs could be weaker next year. None of the 4 we have currently can be considered world class - even Agger is not quite as dominant as we was, and at any rate cannot play every match because of his injury history.

No chance of Carra giving it one more year? I seem to remember Rodgers saying he was going to chat to him?

18 Apr 2013 08:47:58
Carragher wants to be a sports pundit doesn't he?

As much as we all love Carra, sadly I agree with the man himself and it is time for him to go. His positional sense is excellent but lack of pace would cost us points next season.
Let the man go with his head held high as one of the greats.

Kev the Red

Carra will move to back room staff which is a great thing for the Reds.

Hope we don't sign Williams as he lacks the aerial ability to dominate. Solid enough but we need a step up in class next season to compete.

I'd like our CBs next season to be Agger, Alderweireld, Williams and Kelly.

Hey ed, you mentioned earlier that getting Zouma might be tough, but do we have an actual interest? Also, in your opinion which of the players we seem to have interest in would be the most realistic buy? You already mentioned De Vrij is looking unlikely, and Alderwield would also be tough to get - who is left?

Drigan {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have not shown an interest in Zouma. I really don't want to get in to what might be realistic and what isn't.}

18 Apr 2013 08:55:31
If Alderwield has "reportedly" saying he would jump at chance with us then I don't see it being that difficult. {Ed002's Note - One difficulty is the price as I have explained.}

What are the chances of Sakho of PSG, or Diakite of Lazio coming to replace Carra, I've read a couple of paragraphs on each rumour.
Also, is Reina going to be vice-captain when Carra retires, or will Agger or someone else replace him?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Sakho is on the list of targets for Monaco. Arsenal and Lyon have sustained interest in Sakho and there is some interest from Newcastle, Inter Milan, Manchester City and possible interest lingering interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. PSG are not keen on selling but I think there is a good chance of a summer move as we move toward some significant changes at a number of clubs. Diakite will be free in the summer and has been refusing to agree a new deal at Lazio. A bid from Genoa was rejected. Bordeaux would be interested in taking him in the summer for free but as he hasn't taken the opportunity to sign a pre-contract as I am pretty sure he will stay in Italy and move to Napoli.}

17 Apr 2013 17:33:33
Ed what is the situation with Iker Muniain at Bilbao {Ed002's Note - Muniain was touted around the clubs on behalf of Bilbao in January 2012 - and the two clubs in England that were approached were Chelsea and Manchester United. The asking price was 40M euros which is related to the buy-out clause that exists for Iberian clubs. They won't get it because I don't think clubs would risk half of that on a player who is young and has had some off field issues. If the price comes down to a reasonable level (20M euros might be an acceptable figure) I can see interest from several English clubs including Manchester United. Lyon, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Roma have sustained interest which is still there but I could not see a cash deal involving Lyon as possible at this time. Rumours abound of Juventus and Palermo interest. It was thought an eventual move to Barcelona would happen, although his performances this season have not been good at all and his temper has gotten the better of him again on more than one occasion. With his value dropping all of teh time Athletic might well look to extending his contract.}

I know Ed001 like a lot on here think we could do with a DM, I use to like the look of that Leroy Fer, but to be honest with working away I've not seen him in a while. I think I read he was going to be joining Everton in January but that never came off.
I believe we looked at him a while ago, is there any interest/news about him Ed. {Ed002's Note - He remains of interest to Everton.}

Cheers Ed

From the eds point of view we are very unlikely to sign Erikson not worth 20 mil in my opinion and feel suso should be given a chance in the attackin midfield position instead

We keep getting linked to williams but again eds say were not intrested and am glad again because he's average not a bad player but would like someone better and younger
Zouma would be my wish

I think rodgers will have a few players in mind that could be a surprise but all I hope is its for good and we don't get any more british overrated expensive flops

And mainly suarez stays which looks very unlikely

Basy {Ed002's Note - I think it will be tough to gt Eriksen. Last time I checked the interest in Williams was from Arsenal and not Liverpool - but there appears still to be speculation. Zouma would be a good buy but it would again be tough. He plays for St Et and much is expected of him. Arsenal looked at him about a year or so ago. Manchester United in the summer and Manchester City recently. The Milan clubs and Juventus all see Zouma as a cheaper option to Benatia.}

17 Apr 2013 17:57:03
Zouma over Williams anyday

Suso can be as good as eriksen but he needs another 2 years. same goes for sterling wisdom ibe ect all to young to count on

Hi Eds,

When is the earliest time that Liverpool can look to open negotiations with a club for example if we wanted to sign Erikson from Ajax? do we have to wait until the transfer window or can we agree fees before?

Regards

Limpy {Ed002's Note - Everything came happen before except the processing of the transfer itself and registration of the player.}

Heard some very interesting news from Balague re Falcao. With the reported leaked news that some form of payment has been made by Man U he is suggesting that perhaps Athletico Madrid are finding it hard to find buyers willing to pay the 60m. He also mentioned that a lot would depend on the future of rooney with him being supposedly for sale this summer. Obviously not a LFC rumour but definitely something of interest.
Now onto LFC news also heard that amorebieta could still be holding out for a bigger english club to come back with an improved offer. Any chance this could be LFC? To finish off this lengthy post I have heard through the grapevine that Negredo to Dortmund is pretty likely. Any info would be very much appreciated. Jimbo {Ed002's Note - No payment has been made and you are perhaps not aware of Falcao's ownership. Negredo remains of interest to several clubs, including Dortmund.}

Balague came out with it last night on La ligue reviseted, and they had an article on it on tv website early this morning, it's now gone though. I think that's where people picked up on it Ed.

17 Apr 2013 14:27:08
Liverpool have no interest in Ashley Williams as far as I know, lazy journalism.

17 Apr 2013 14:23:57
Been told that Newcastle have made a bid for Carroll. The bid is said to be only £6m rising to 10. Expect LFC to definitely reject it.

If Newcastle want him we should tell them £15M no less and we should include lots of clauses in the deal, ie buy back clause, sell on fee, future England caps etc etc. {Ed002's Note - It really doesn't work like that.}

More like 15m at least. Better at hammers

7-10 tops. again ask the question what would LFC pay to buy Carroll now? Why would anyone pay more?

17 Apr 2013 13:27:32
Eds, is there any interest in Oscar de Marcos of Bilbao? {Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Schalke were put off by his price previously and I am not aware of interest right now.}

17 Apr 2013 13:26:41
Might not be Liverpool related, but are any clubs interested in Carlos Vela? His goals and assists have helped Sociedad to fourth in La Liga and still young at 24. {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware right now.}

13 goals and 8 assists in La Liga this campaign.

17 Apr 2013 12:21:41
Hi ed's are the rumours of Newcastle only willing to pay £7m true. and what is the minimum the club will accept for the player. {Ed002's Note - I really don't know what they would be prepared to pay. I would expect the club to do everything it can to sell the player at the best price they can get.}

So ed's what happens if the club don't get the fee they want, does he go back to a club that clearly doesn't want him, and can Liverpool afford to pay his huge wages while they attempt to bring in new players.

I would rather keep him then sell him to Newcastle for anything less than £15M, people on here keep slagging him off saying he's a drunk and hasn't got the heart to play for our great club etc etc.

He played very well towards the end of the season when played with Suarez, so it proves he has got the ability to succeed should he want it bad enough, also I think it's disgraceful on West Ham's behalf as they agreed a deal in principle for Carroll at around £17M and know they are saying that they can't afford him, we should have learnt our lesson by now we got stung when loaning out Aqua and ended up making a huge lost on him and know were doing it all over again with Carroll.

No matter what Liverpool FC say, we defiantly panic brought when buying Carroll hence why we payed way over the odds he was a £10M player at best, we panicked because Torres dropped a bombshell late in the transfer window and asked to leave so we payed what Newcastle asked instead of either holding onto Torres until the end of the season or looking abroad for a better striker for the amount we spent on Carroll.

I just don't understand Rodgers, yes his ball retention stuff is great but it is never going to won him ALL the games. He clearly has no Plan B when things fall apart. Carroll can be a great player for us in these situations. His physical prescence will allow Sturridge Coutinho anf Suarez obviously to exploit the defence. That is something we lacked against West Ham. Against Reading, I reckon playing route 1 soccer a. k. a winger-cross-striker-header soccer would have got us the win. If Rodgers can improve Downing or Henderson then why not Carroll. Having Carroll inproves our physical game both defensively and offensively. I don't think he will repay 35M but he will surely repay atleast 3/4 or that sum if handled well.

As much as i'd like him to return I really don't see it unless nobody meets the Fee we want rumored to be around £17M, as the last poster said, Rodgers has improved Henderson's & Downing's game so surely he could improve Carroll's, he would also give us different options if needed, is very physical which we so desperately lack and has time on his hands to adapt to the new style of football we play. Also he has scored 6 goals in 21 games for West Ham which is not too bad considering he has had injuries.

Chelski apparently showing renewed interest for Dede. Heard anything about this one Ed002?

BaldyRed {Ed002's Note - It is not renewed interest. Chelsea made a bid for the player and there is interest from elsewhere.}

Hi ED, got a few for you:

1) With Sporting doing poorly and speculation over Reina leaving (I'd personally like him to stay) do you think Rui Patricio will be leaving this summer and if he would be a realistic target as a replacement?

2) Do you think Kevin Strootman will be leaving PSV this summer? I feel he would be a better option to Eriksen so would he be a realistic target?

3) Will Gundogan be a player moving on from Dortmund?

4) Will Shaqiri be moving from Bayern in their clearout?

5) You mention Giovinco may be offered as part of a Suarez offer, do you see Liverpool being interested in him and if so do you think they would consider putting in a separate offer aside from any Suarez bid if he were available as Rodgers was looking for a player in that position?

Cheers mate, JGS. {Ed002's Note - (1) Rui Patricio has attracted interest from Arsenal and Atletico Madrid. (2) Strootman will be leaving and I expect him to move to Manchester United, if not, Italy. (3) Gundogan may well be sold in the summer and there is interest from Rubin Kazan and Manchester City. (4) No, I very much doubt it. (5) I don't see Liverpool being interested.}

Mate,

Have watced Strootman over and over and he is getting worse. He used to be good a season ago, but he is lazy and boring as hell.

Dick Advocaat has this amazing ability to demotivate players.

I watched Eriksen this weekend, and he went seriously went up in my estimations. He totally trashed PSV's defence. Man of the match and can do it all. If we have indeed signed him for 12.5 million, it is a friggin bargain I can tell you.

Eriksen would fit in at man u/citeh, chelski and arsenal. Believe me, Strootman is not better than Eriksen.

Cheers for the info ED.

Fair enough mate don't see a great deal of Dutch football but what I have seen they both look good young players. Believe me I would be as delighted as anyone if we signed eriksen! Haha but as always I'm sceptical over the likelihood of it happening lol.

Jgs

Ed you have said many times this summer is going to see record spending around europe. Given that Madrid, Juve, Bayern and Man City are all interested in Suarez, do you personaly think we will be able to turn down an offer that looks like becoming an auction.
I thought the young lad Barkley played well for Everton tonight, any idea who Fergie might have been looking at? I see the Man U page they keep talking about Bains. {Ed002's Note - I have no feeling for what will happen with LS. I don't see Baines at United.}

News will break in the coming days that Liverpool have won the race to sign christian eriksen from ajax, for a fee in the region of £13m + assaidi.

I was speaking to a journalist with an excellent rapport with Liverpool Fc and was told the player has little interest in a move to Liverpool. Rodgers was at pains to neither confirm or deny interest in Eriksen and clearly thinks the player would be an excellent addition to the squad, however his appearance at Anfield is decidedly unlikely.
The Doctor46

Dats your view. Journalist are not always right. So right now there is no1 to believe until the transfer window closes in the coming transfer

Well definitely don't believe the gossips claiming he's coming to Liverpool

Liverpool is not his desired move, he's never mentioned being interested in LFC despite the clubs clear interest. Could happen but not very likely if there is interest from higher performing clubs in him.
