Now Ozil has gone to madrid Van der vaart should be on his way to us Dorest Red

Why, we've got loads of midfielders, we need a striker nothing else. .Remy seems to be the man, but he's waiting on Spurs to see if they qualify for the champions league, although they nearly blew it tonight losing 3-2 to young boys. If they fail to qualify then Liverpool will, I think, be in the driving seat.

Sooty. {editor's note - Liverpool are not interested in Remy or he would have already signed for us. He has been begging the club to bid for him all summer, he has never even mentioned Spurs.}

With the arrival of brad jones today there will be no place for cavaleri as roy will use gulacsi as no3 keeper he is lined up for a return to south america for 2 million

paul koncheskey will be snapped up for 3.5 million and insua will go to make way for this deal

babel is off to birmingham for 10 million expect that cash to go towards the signing of connor wickham from ipswich

there is cash for a striker lots of suggestions in press but will have to wait and see

plessis/ el zhar/ rodriguez and lucas are all avaliable to buy if they go and only then will steven defour and shaun wright phillips come in.

Liverpool Rumours
On Kuyt . . . He, like N'gog, for me is so frustrating cos he does lots of good in a game, works hard for the team and gets in decent soring positions, however he seems to score only important goals and is far too incosistant in front of goal.

This being said, he DEFINITLEY will not leave this season, as he outperforms other players, such as Aquallani, Babel, El Zhar etc. game in, game out.

Emiliano Insua, Ryan Babel and Javier Mascherano are set to leave.

Does anyone know about the £15m transfer kitty RH is supposed to have. I am beginning to think that he wasn't given anything. Ed do you know anything?

You Tube'd Ola Toivonen - looks a good one, but I suppsoe these clips only ever show you the good bits. Would still rather have Suarez.

Liverpool FC have made a £12.5million bid to secure the services of the Costa Rican forward Bryan Ruiz, Ruiz admits he could be on the move away from Twente this summer: "There is a chance I will stay, but it is likely that I'm leaving. "Certainly if I get a chance at an ambitious club like Liverpool, I would like to take it."

TO THE PERSON WHO SAID THIS:

"17 Aug 2010 15:21:06
Roy is looking to buy 2 strikers the strikers are

Ola Toivonen for a fee of 5.5 million with a further 1.5 million, in bonuses number of goals, appearances etc you know what i mean, he can play up front or attacking mid, 6ft 4 and scores goals for fun with both feet, also liverpool have been scouting him

Ricky Van Wolfswinkel for a fee of around 8 million, he has been linked with Ajax and PSV over the summer and is expected to leave, the guy looks like a good talent for the future (i also lol'ed at his name imagine the songs being made up for him! !)

if the moves do go ahead expect Toivonen to get the number 15 shirt and Wolfswinkel to get the number 25 shirt (although if he got the number 69 i would definitively get him on my shirt).

Dan :)"

What a load of bull. First of all stop repeating rumours from the Liverpool website. Secondly you have jsut made up a bunch of stuff to add credibility to your story. Finally Pepe Reina is number 25 for Liverpool and its his lucky number for us, so how on earth would you know Wolfswinkle will be that number.

STOP THE RUBBISH. . Dan.

CLARITY FOR THOSE WHO NEED IT. . .

LOIC REMY. . .to spurs {Editor's Note - not Marseille then?}
MILNER. . . to citeh (px with S.IRELAND)
S.IRELAND. . .to villa (see above)
ROQUE SANTA CRUIZ. . .to hammers
Armand Traore. . . .to benfica
Caicedo(sp). . .hammers

this tied in with the fact that we don't have much funding, until a takeover is complete, leaves Roy with a huge task of making us better this season, i personally expect Ola Toivonen to sign before transfer deadline, a good strong player who makes very intelligent runs. Good header of a ball gr8 feet and can score a tap in as well as a scorcher from 30 yards.
I wouldn't AND PERSONALLY DON'T EXPECT the likes of Suarez circa 25m, Gignac circa 15-20m, or the biggest TART of the transfer season Loic Remy circa 12-16m,

FORGET about Richards, FORGET about Aguero (ken or otherwise;)) Not Happening. That a FULL STOP for those who don't know.

Now for the money, seems everyone jumped on the 15-20m budget this transfer window, for Roy to get the targets he wants, plus the transfers we have made, plus transfer fee's plus agent fee's plus the signing of Roy H, plus the sacking of Benitez , don't leave too much in the coffers, were not rich Yet, nor do i expect us to be. . Financially sound again with a new stadium and a decenty amount of money to compete would be enough for me right now, AND WOULD BE A VAST IMPROVEMENT TO WHAT WE HAD TO ENDURE LAST SEASON.

{Editor's Note: My guess is the whole thing has been dreamed up by the media. Marcel Brands - PSV Technical Director of - says he has heard the rumours but they have had no contact from Liverpool at all. Why would we want two more strikers? Who would be dropped from the 25? How would we pay for the players?}

Yahya Kirdi bid for Liverpool FC ownership falters

Liverpool have received up to five formal offers to buy the club, but Yayha Kirdi is not one of them.
Barclays Capital, the bank overseeing the sale process, and Chairman Martin Broughton remain determined to see a deal completed in the next month despite a club statement insisting that the board were still reviewing a number of bids.
Syrian businessman Kirdi claimed last week that he would conclude a deal to buy the club from owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks within seven days but has failed to submit any offer to Broughton, BarCap or the Royal Bank of Scotland, Liverpool's primary lenders.
Former Wall Street stockbroker Kenny Huang remains the only incumbent owner to publicly reveal his plans to seize control of the Anfield club whilst one bid is understood to derive from the ruling family of the Emirate of Sharjah.

Ola toivonen and salcido to come in from psv for reasonable fees thus concluding our transfer activity at liverpool this summer unless a deal for mascherano is pushed through which is looking more likely to be barcelona and although i wud love to bojan come our way i don't think this will happen but its not a bad thing to recive the entire fee for masch either. we could maybe expect another winger to come in from this money (hopefully turan) and possibly wolfswinkel aswell :)

Liverpool are set to sign two players from PSV and they are Ola Toivonen and Carlos Salcido. Salcido has been left out of the squad for their europa league game on thursday as PSV want to sell him and according to their website want to "keep all options open on a possible move"

Salcido will cost around 2m which is a bargain for a solid left back

Toivonen has been watched three times by Sammy Lee and Roy Hodgson in the past week and scored six goals in three games and although he is in the squad for the europa league game is unlikely to play.

Liverpool will pay an initial fee of 10m rising to 12m depending on appearances etc.

Elsewhere Brad Jones' move has been completed for 2.3m and expect that to be the end of Liverpool's transfer window activity unless Mascherno is sold in which case a midfielder and maybe a winger will be purchased

I have 2 things to say:
Happened: Brad Jones - Free
Going to happen: Itanje cavelarri out for about 3 mill added together

Rumours:
Ola Toivonen is coming to Liverpool, but first we need to get the money he wants, he wants a pretty high salary and for a player of his stature he should nt be getting that much.
Masherano doesn't want to leave liverpool he wants to leave england! He doesn't enjoy living there! So I think Roy should send him to spain in exchange for Bojan and 10 mill! With that 10 mill we could buy a quality player that could take masheranos place or u could just put poulson there!
Comments:
I think Insua was class against bolton last season and pretty good considering hes 21!

We really need a player like Pedro or Elia someone fast and skillful i think the best cheapest way is if wait like 3 years until u-18 captain Suso is 19 and experienced enough, or we could spalsh out ten mill to buy Neymar from Santos!

Hey guys and fellow liverpool supporters!. . Em i was just wondering why are Lpool signing another keeper when we have cavalieri and gulacsi as back up to Reina. I know it may be because he is home Grown but then we will have 4 keepers on our ranks.

Another growing concern of mine is that we are in the same situation as last year. Numerous strikers linked but none even close to joining. I like the look of this boy Ola Toivonen but my concern is that he will take ages to settle. Andre-Pierre Gignac has also been linked and this is the one i would dream of. Proven and he is well built and adaptable to the EPL. Yes he had a bad season last year but it would be worth the gamble as Toivonen is not proven. We need a top class centre forward for torres and i don't want any mistakes.
Who so do you think Roy definately wants to sign and what are the chances. Thanks. LFC fan!

Liverpool have been linked to a flurry of strikers in the past week alone. these ones are mentioned on the official lfc website:
andre-pierre gignac
ola toivonen
ricky van wolfswinkle
loic remy
romelu lukaku
artem milevskiy
roque santa cruz
zoltan gera

which of these are looking the most likely?
thanks, Red In Ireland

17 Aug 2010 11:50:40
Here are liverpools striker targets. We will get 1! ! not all:

Romelu lukaku( Market value unknown)
Ola Toivonen( 8-10 million)
Artem Milevskiy(13 million)
Andre-Pierre Gignac(15 million)
Ricky van Wolfswinkel(8 million)

Any of these would be great as they are all relatively(if not very) young. All can knock goals into the back of the net and assist Torres this season

What do you think ED? {editor's note - Lukaku will not move anywhere until he has finished school, I can't remember whether that is next summer or the one after, so forget about him. Ola Toivonen is the one Hodgson is after right now, so it will be him unless, either, his wage demands are too high or we can't agree a fee with his club. I have no idea who is second choice.}

Ed,

)ust got three questions:

Is there only one Ed?

Also, earlier you said. .

{Editor's Note: Ola Toivonen value is probably £4-5M if nobody else comes in - but the priority has to be a left back. I doubt WE have the money for both without selling. Toivonen's agent is Martin Dahlin who previously played for Roy Hodgson so if we do have the funds and we do bid, he might help our cause.}

You said 'we' does that mean you support the club too?

And last of all, who do think weare most likely to get?

RR {editor's note - there is more than one editor, I think most of us are Liverpool fans, but not all. I am not the one who posted that, but I am a Liverpool fan too. As I just said on the previous post, Toivonen is looking the most likely right now.}

To all the people that keep mentioning Hodgson's 'agreement' with Fulham regarding LFC not signing their players

It only applies to players they are trying to keep i.e. Hangalaand, Zamora etc

If there are players that Hughes/ Fulham are prepared to let go then of course they can be sold to Liverpool, and Konchesky falls into that category

According to Swedish press this morning, Liverpool have offererd PSV around 12M Euro for striker Ola Toivonen late last night. Apparently this matches the asking-price written in his contract with the Dutch club which obliges PSV to sell him, if he wants to go.
Toivonen has travelled with PSV to Russia for a Europa Cup play-off. If there's any truth in the bid, then expect him not to play. If he plays, then he'll be cup-tied for Liverpool's Euro games (if LFC proceed in that competition that is). .

No go for Liverpool's Mascherano? Javier's dream move to Inter Milan in doubt

Javier Mascherano was left fretting over a proposed £25million move to Inter Milan last night after Rafa Benitez finally began his recruitment drive by snapping up Genoa midfielder Giuseppe Sculli.
Unsettled midfielder Mascherano was pinning his hopes on Inter finally making a bid for him, once funds were in place from Mario Balotelli's transfer to Manchester City.
But former Liverpool boss Benitez made Sculli his priority, instead, tieing up a £5million deal that casts doubt over whether he will follow up his interest in Mascherano.
Sources in Milan point to an already well-stocked Inter midfield and believe that, should an offer be made for Mascherano, it could be as little as £12-15million, (Big Joke) when Rafa was looking to get £50m for him last year.
Roy Hodgson will not let him leave on the cheap and is adamant he must honour his contract at Anfield, in the absence of any acceptable bids.
It looks more like Barca or he stays.

abbs

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Whilst Sculli is now seemingly an Inter player, he is a winger who has gone for a fraction of the Balotelli fee, and not a DM. Knowing Rafa, and the Italian penchant for defensive football, Mascherano could still figure in Rafa's plans. With Balotelli gone, however, I can't see how Rafa will want to sanction any swap for Eto'o and will probably play him on the wing as Mourinho did - successfully - towards the end of last season. A striker played on the wing? Whatever next Rafa?! ;-)

Hey Ed, just wondering. Are Liverpool not interested in Klass-Jan Huntelaar anymore? Cos I would love to see him come to Liverpool.

{Editor's Note: I think the only serious interest being shown in Huntelaar is from Marseille and it is clear that Milan are in no rush to sell.}
