Hi all Eds & Reds
1) When are the official squad lists for for premier league announced?
2) In relation to squad numbers, I think Lucas should get no.6. Think the lad deserves a starting number, he's probably the first name on the team sheet.
3) As ye know, I am a optimist and a realist, but I believe we have a great chance of beating Arsenal on Saturday, however Arsenal will be tough opposition.
4) In relation to 4th striker, I'd say give young Adam Morgan a chance, Flanno and Robbo have proved they are more than capable of stepping up to the plate, and as 4th choice striker I think Morgan would benefit hugely working with Dirk, Suarez and Andy. You may disagree with me and say he's too young, not ready and all that but as I stated earlier Flanno and Robbo that the young lads canake the step up.

Rebel_Red {Ed002's Note - September 1.}

If any one need be bak up striker ngoo he looked good tonight for u19s very tricky player to control

One of Dirk, Andy or Luis would surely have to make way for him. Cannot see all 4 playing together.

Good point about Morgan, why do you think Neymar is such a huge success yet only 18/19, bcoz he was given a good stage(Santos first team) from a very early age, i remember him making his debut when he was only 17. That is what LFC should do with youngsters they feel have the potential for first team action..

Genuinely couldn't agree more about giving Morgan a chance. The lad looks amazing and would only benefit from playing with the quality we have in the 1st team.
I agree that Lucas should be given a 'starting number'. Maybe 5 like he wears for Brazil but that would mean Agger taking 6 or something.

How can you be optimist and realist at the same time quite unique

Rubbish, Morgan is not yet good enough, as opposed to just too young. There is a difference, you know. And both Flanagan and Robinson have shown good potential, but clearly not up to being part of a starting line-up if we want to be ceratin of a top 4 finish. And yes, the poster who made the point that Ngoo is more ready is sport on. In fact, Morgan may still fall by the wayside whereas Ngoo looks like he will make a Prem team, even if it's not at Liverpool.
Fox

Another vote for Ngoo over Morgan. Morgan perhaps has more potential (and therefore, equally, more potential to waste), but Ngoo is much more suited to playing with the big boys. And he'd give us a very interesting option on the bench, whereas Morgan, while good, is far more "normal."

Ed I just read that where linked with corluka from tottenham wht your opinions on him and chances ? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest.}

17 Aug 2011 22:58:02
Ed just a two quick questions for you, could you please tell me;
1) Is Per Mertsacker is a good player?

2) Is their any firm interest in him from Liverpool and regardless of that what do you think would be our chances of signing him?
Regards,
Jack the lad {Ed002's Note - I think he is less likely than Cahill or Dann.}

17 Aug 2011 22:15:49
Sebastian Coates could be on his way to Anfield. Kenny fancies Cahill, but is prepared to wait for the price to come down in January. Comolli rates Coates very highly, & has convinced KK
to make a move now, before he signs for another of Europes big guns. His price has rocketed since his excellent showing in the Copa (Nacional looking for 12m, but Comolli still feels he'd be better value than other targets.

Mr Yellow

And the price of Cahill would come down in January (mis-season) for what reason? If anything pal the price would increase heavily, or he would not be for sale at all.

Ed, is there any interest from Liverpool? thanks {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

Price goes down coz hes contract is until 2012

He is out of contract next summer, so in January Bolton may have to cash in or run the risk of losing him on a free.

RedSG

Right pal, he could leave on a bosman next year.
Red Indian.

17 Aug 2011 22:11:12
where has these Benayoun rumours come from? are they true? can you shed any light on this eds please {Ed009's Note - It is nothing more than press speculation as far as I can make out, though Macca firmly believes we are chasing the player.}

17 Aug 2011 22:04:17
I just watch nilmar play for Villarreal on sky sports 2. And I checked his name on my sky app to see if I had got it wrong and it is nilmar.can you help or do you not no him. thanks {Ed002's Note - There is no interest in Nilmar.}

Hang on u thought nilmar who is he oh yh let's go on a liverpool rumours site to find out if he was real why post that u hears of google search and yes nilmar is a real player been around for 3-4 years now and not neymar if ur getting confused ..

My first pots is on the banter page don't no why this is not. The ed said I had got his name from football manger. making it up, if you no wot I mean {Ed002's Note - There is no known interest in Nilmar.}

Very fast striker can be good partner with suarez.

liverpool are in talks to sign chelsea centre half alex for aroun 8 mill

Would love it, but can't see it happening, Shawcross looks to be the man to me
YNWA

If he goz anywere its gona b juventus...chelsea arnt sellin him 2 us

Are you insane? He is a below par defender, i am so suprised he has lasted at Chelsea for so long.

Alex wants to leave Chelsea because he hasn't settled in the UK, why would he move to LFC?

Below par defender, alex is one of the best defenders in the EPL, has all the attributes, decent head, good on the ball and dont forget them freekicks he blasts in for fun. I'd love him to sign at a bargain 8mill but its not gunna happen

17 Aug 2011 21:19:38
I've been saying for sometime now that Cahill will join and he will. The deal won't be rushed though, I don't see Bolton selling him before they play us on the 27th. Liverpool are also monitoring the Hugo Rodellega situation, which I personally think would be a good move.

This deal will be the deadline day transfer saga as ngog will go the other way

I think Cahill is quality hope we do sign him.

I think it may be like a mate deal he will play one half Bolton one half Liverpool ... Lol jokes this will never happen in the history of LFC but I do hope we get Cahill or showcross

From Dani Pacheco on Twitter:

Im at home (málaga) waiting news on my future, and everything should be done THIS week, and will know it very soon. So unlucky at world cup

Sounds like he could be on his way. Could be letting a special one go, who knows. Would be best to put in a buy back clause just in case.

-Shane

Special my backside, pile of rubbish

If he was that good he would play

Agreed pile of rubbish

Imo pacheco should have been playing 20 to 25 a season 2 seasons ago. i feel he might have gone backwards in that time. though he did play well at norwich and at the euros. he will proberly end up playing for one of the top six in spain in 3/4/5 years.

Sell-On Clause would be smart business...when he leaves us he won't want to come back...

I say we replace him wid ngog he'd do betta than ngog all day long hes not really had any chances 2 prove himself on da big stage

I presume you mean you'd replace Ngog wid him cos he's a betta playa dan Ngog?

To the guy who posted this:
"I say we replace him wid ngog he'd do betta than ngog all day long hes not really had any chances 2 prove himself on da big stage"

Would it hurt to spell the words properly? Are you a kid? It's bettER, wiTH and there is no such word as "da". Ask your teachers or parents for help.

Good call on the sell on clause

I don;t think he is as good as the reputation that was built up int he last two years, he never proved himself and had quite a few chances in the first team. He may do well abroad in a less physical league, good luck to him

Eds. Center Back situation. Enlighten me. {Ed002's Note - Read the earlier posts.}

Diego Godin. Gary Cahill. Scott Dann. Mussachio. Enlighten me.

Liverpool are in talks with Real Betis over a player, only problem is I dont know which player they are in talks with. Assume it will be a left back.

KG

Why? has enrique left already?

Why a left back we just signed enrique an we still got aurelio,robinson and insua?
Skurks

We just bought a LB mate from Newcastle.Doubt we will buy another one just yet
Eric The Real Red
YNWA

Don't think it'll be a left back as we've just signed one CB or winger maybe...

Lfcbwp

Why would we want another left back?

More likely to sell a player, Pacheco , insua maybe ?

Prodigy nick

Sorry i meant left wing but in talks with Betis over someone.

Has Downing left already? ;-)

Hi eds please post this I have no rumours I am not a friend of a friend of some one I just want to know are we going to sign anyone before the window ends
I keep hearing of cahill, mata and others but nothing is happening yesterday was a great one
cahill at melwood at 1730 for medical as usual it was rubbish. can 1 of you eds please just tell me and the rest of us normal fans if you think we will sign someone or not and who you think it may be ok
thanks {Ed002's Note - You need to read the other posts. I expect a centre back from the usual suspects to sign. Depending if both Meireles and Aquilani leave, you may see a return of Benayoun as rumoured or a bid for Moussa Sissoko.}

Before getting all cocky and overconfident about this Saturday's game, people would do well to be mindful of two things: a) whatever team Arsenal puts out will be a lot stronger than that of Sunderland's, b) our away record-- particularly against Arsenal-- is wholly woeful.

I appreciate that recent events there (Fabregas, Nasri, Gervihno, Song, Wilshere, Djourou etc) have emboldened many a fan and optimism abounds.
Fair enough.

However, no football match was ever won by simply turning.
We've to go out there and put in a massive performance (a la first half Sunderland), and that over the course of 90 minutes.

Certainly we have what it takes to do it.
Will we do it, though?
Hard to say.
History generally and specifically Arsenal suggests a firm no.

But fingers crossed we not only beat Arsenal but outplay them.
This game presents us with a massive chance to get the ball rolling and really boost our confidence.

It's also a fantastic opportunity for Carroll, Enrique, Adam and Downing to really kick start their seasons/careers by have a blinder in such a huge game.

Lastly, ed, with Dann leaning towards Arsenal and Cahill now seeming a no-no due to Bolton being mules over the matter, who now looks the likely arrival at centre back?

Godin? Musacchio? Albiol? Rolando? Richards?
We've had all these players watched this year, even apparently making a bid for Richards.

The way I see it, Godin and Rolando will likely be too expensive; City will probably knock back any advances for Richards; Albiol am not sure; Musacchio's defo attainable.
So, what's your take, ed?

Burmeister
Ps: any mention of Mertasacker and I'll puke, seriously
If it's true that he's a possibility, then heavens help us {Ed002's Note - Cahill, Dann, possibly Mertesacker, maybe Shawcross.}

Perhaps the most sensible lfc fan on here with that Enlightening post

Before telling us not to get cocky or overconfident you should check your facts. Considering this saturdays game is at Anfield i'm not sure what out poor away form has to do with this game. I would also like ot point out that Sunderland are not a weak side, and Arsenal's team will not necessarily be stronger regardless of who they play. However i appreciate your point. On paper we should win, but games aren't won on paper.

YNWA (Adam)

Burmeister,
You are right an away game to Arsenal is never easy, but I would think this year is our best chance to break this voodoo against them , they are all over the place in terms of injury , suspensions and spirit.
As for center back I wont be surprised if we dont buy any and stick with the 6 that we have.
Roy

YNWA (Adam)
Have you discovered your error yet and feeling less than clever :) .. Yes Sunderland are no push over, but an Arsenal "AWAY" is much harder.
Roy

My bad Roy, I won't shy away from my mistake, i was misinformed when i was told Liverpool would play there opening two matches at home this year. However i stand by my point, Sunderland are not much weaker than arsenals team under the current scenarios. Injuries, sales and suspensions have reduced them to less than their second string.

YNWA (Adam)

Why puke ? then again he only has a stack of international caps for a good national side

Completely agree with you, beating Arsenal is not a foregone conclusion as they are still a top team...however with all those players missing it is definitely the best time to play arsenal for us

Arsenal r still dangerous and r never a roll-over (unless fowler is playing 4 us). My bum w'not b the only one squeaking - but faith in KK

moose BT6

Arsenal is always a tough opponent, however the people saying that now is the most fortunate time for an away win at The Emirates, are correct. If ever, now is the time.

Burmeister, I don't quite get the puking part, speaking of Mertesacker...? Don't you rate him? I personally think he is one of the 5-10 sharpest CB's in world football. A real class player - I would absolutely relish the chance of watching him alongside Agger. Real powerhouse

A reliable source has, told me that Liverpool are looking to sign Argentine International, Lisandro Lopez and are hoping to get the deal done by the middle of next week, Kenny Dalgish is interested in the 28 year old despite his age. Watch This Space

tj

His age is irrelevant in this case. He is not beig looked at as a first choice but as a squad player to cover injuries, suspensions etc

Borrocks TJ you have read this on news now lfc site,stop postin carp lad

Mata at target for Chelsea bid from blues very imminent.

Reds should get in there quick. Mata is ideal winger stroke play maker we need.

Deagster

Even thou he is a good player where was he when we played valencia he was tamed an therefore we do not need him used money on CB or ST

Oh yeah here we go again with Mata mania.Just tell me where the £30 million is coming from.Unless you're planning on loaning the money to the Reds.

17 Aug 2011 18:15:33
Evening Ed002, it's been a while. Sorry to bother you with what may be a nonsense question but do you think we have any interest in Dejan Lovren as he is a player I have wanted us to look at since January.
Many thanks

Chris in Tamworth (presently on holiday in sunny Wales) {Ed002's Note - I don't know of interest Chris and I doubt OL would be willing to sell. If they did you could see a pretty horrendous fee being asked for. Sunny Wales? But have a great time in any case.}

Just to let you know. Wales is always boiling in the summer. Went to Pembrokshire earlier this summer and get a right tan.

Thankyou

17 Aug 2011 18:04:53
Hi me again 18:00 radio city sport now saying bolton have bid 4 mil for Ngog

Kev

I hope it's true an we can come up with some sort of deal for g.cahill i'm starting to doubt if we have even been looking at him?
Skurks

See the thing is, if we were really in for cahill, im sure n'gog will be in the deal? Not separate bids?

17 Aug 2011 17:54:05
Ed, i saw a while ago that ed001 said that mata was targetted as an attacking mid if we sold aquilani, meireles and cole. Do you know whether if we sold say aquilani and meireles then mata is still a target or any other attacking mids like mata that we could go for? {Ed002's Note - I didn't know that Ed001 had said that. Perhaps the orange sunshine was kicking in. There is rumoured interest in Benayoun. Moussa Sissoko is still available but may not be much longer.}

{Ed002's Note - I didn't know that Ed001 had said that. Perhaps the orange sunshine was kicking in. There is rumoured interest in Benayoun. Moussa Sissoko is still available but may not be much longer.}
==============
How sure are you about the Benayoun thing, or ist based on what Macca have posted few days back? ie is this from one source Macca or other sources you know have told you something similar?
I am not convinced ?? and wonder why we would even consider him? Maybe someone to give Cole company on the ...(well not even bench).
Roy

{Ed002's Note - As I said it is rumoured interest only. There is nothing confirmed but it was mentioned to me by someone other than Macca.}

17 Aug 2011 17:51:03
Ed do you know of any interest in mauro zarate as i think he would be very good for us and quite cheap? {Ed002's Note - Yes there is interest if you are a fan of Arsenal, Rubin Kazam, Spartak Moscow or Lille or even possibly Atletico Madrid. If you are a Liverpool fan then sadly I cannot lie to you and say that there is interest. His agent is allowed to talk to any club he wishes and after talking with Arsenal it has been suggested he would like to talk with Newcastle. Russia seems a good possibility if Arsenal are not interested after the discussions.}

17 Aug 2011 17:29:23
Radio city just reported Liverpool monitoring Hugo Rodellaga's contract negotiations with Wigan this was the 17:00 news and sport report {Ed002's Note - I have to say that this makes a lot of sense to me, but I am aware that Spurs and Newcastle are doing the same. I think it has some distance to run but would not be surprised to see interest from Spain as well.}

I heard this aswel , would be a good signing:)

17 Aug 2011 17:25:24
Ed do you know of any interest in di maria , elia or adam johnson currently? {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

Get real. Do you have any ideas how many midfielders LFC got this year and have now in the squad??

17 Aug 2011 17:16:41
Eds just to clarify that on a post i wrote just after 1pm, 9 out of 1 when i ment out of 10, just to clear it up. Sorry i know your busy. Thanks. Jonson6 {Ed002's Note - It has been bothering me all day. I have seen a lot of people blogging about the confusion that you caused.}

Johnson6 - when does half term finish?

I was completly confused by this post.... but then I found the original post this refers to on the banter page.

I'm telling you, Ed002 is a standup comic. He's probably performing all over the place in basement comedy clubs every Tuesday and Wednesday night..

When one is reffering to Ed002, one should use "She" and not "He" , unless ED001 been lying to us.
She has a great sense of humour, and knows her football --for an old lady
Roy {Ed002's Note - Personally it doesn't bother me either way. He or she are both fine. It is not like Ed001 who is a he during the weeks and a "she" when he gets dressed up and hits the specialist bars on a Friday and Saturday night. God I am glad we don't share a bedroom any more.}

17 Aug 2011 17:15:36
wow? ed just heard liverpool are signing neymar and ganso by next week is this true? {Ed002's Note - If it appears on Twitter it is certain to happen. If it makes it to the great god Facebook - then it is nailed on. Once in Wikipedia it is, as we know, confirmed as complete.}

Ahaha ed you crack me up

Ed002, you should actually be a comedian :D

YNWA (ADAM)

Pmsl just a hint of sarcasm

Well its the only way to answer a post like that well done ED lmao

17 Aug 2011 16:44:58
ed is there any chance of us signing a right winger hendo might be great prospect even if he is greatly over pricebut he's is not a rm and has been very poor there in pre season i think adam johnson would be the perfect foil for downing as both play either side and can swap side give a lot more options in our play {Ed002's Note - It is unlikely unless Manchester City strike some sort of deal that sees them get another winger who can play on either wing (for example, Di Maria plus 18.4M euro for Tevez) that will allow Johnson to be sold. Then it would require Liverpool to find another £20M.}

17 Aug 2011 16:43:02
Ed002, as I know you have contacts in France... Is there any chance that Briand from Lyon could arrive at Anfeild this summer? {Ed002's Note - No, I am afraid not.}

17 Aug 2011 16:31:08
Ed what are the rumours about lisandro lopez are they true ?? {Ed002's Note - Ugly rumours by the look of things. I am not aware of any interest at all.}

I read in a artickel 16 hours ago... try google it. frence media. wait and see. could hapen. liverpool was interested last season. and KK got 50mio too spent more... why not. the price for him is 14,5mio and up. so wait till the weekend and see.

17 Aug 2011 16:14:54
Might as well stop all the bulls**t posts

Lets get it from the horses mouth shall we

EDS - The club are obviously looking for a CB and possibly a backup striker. Tell us who are likely targets, then hopefully all this talk of Mata, Hazard and countless other names will go away

Thanks {Ed002's Note - The targets are those that get discussed ad nauseum. Only the arrival of both Neymar and Ganso late next week will stop the discussion about Hazard and Mata.}

Ed002 - So it's not true what they say after all, you ARE funny and not just entirely and thoroughly filled to the brim with sarcasm.

Any more news than what is out there already on a new CB?

Cheers,
Spartan {Ed002's Note - I rather think there will be some serious effort to bring in a centre back over the next week. There is nothing new about the usual suspects - Cahill, Dann, possibly Mertesacker, possibly Shawcross.}

Even if Mata and hazard both signed for 'hair plugs united' and kissed the badge.. People would still post 'shoyt' about them having a medical at Melwood the next day... I'm guessing that the occasional sarcastic comment from the eds is all that keeps them from throwing their computers through a window..

Myk

Not a rumour Eds but a general question. All these so called 'Deadwood' players were at the club when FSG bought us out. I know the club paid money for them but FSG did not directly. Do you think that this makes it easier to give them all free transfers (as long as we dont have to pay them off), Maxi, Ngog, Aqua aside, as they have not actually paid to get them here in first place. What i mean the club will have lost money on them but (previous owners) but not FSG {Ed002's Note - It makes no difference at all. Options (in order of preference) are:
(a) Sell them (e.g. Mavinga);
(b) Let them leave on a free (e.g Jovanovic) - it means paying up any outstanding signing on fee and bonuses if applicaple;
(c) Agree to release them from their contract for a negotiated settlement figure - perhaps all of any outstanding signing on fee and bonuses but half of the wages that would be due for the remainder of the contract;
(d) Release them from their contract - paying up all outstanding signing on fees, bonuses and wages that would be due for the remainder of the contract.}

You forgot the last option
(e) keep them;-(

Did fsg not have to pay of our debt, so in theory they have paid for the players {Ed002's Note - I think it is best not to get sucked in to discussion about the finances. NESV (now FSG) bought the club in total including all tangible assets (the ground, vehicles etc.) and intangible assets (the staff). The issue is not to do with the purchase price of the players but the cost to maintain these fringe players at the club - wages, bonuses, outstanding signing on fees etc.. They will be looking at bringing in more depth and bringing on some of the younger players. The target will be to have players who the management team want to select for the first team and to move on those (e.g. El Zhar) who are very unlikely to be selected.}

There is a point in that what FSG paid for these people in their allocation of the bid price may very well affect the accounting for the "disposal" of these people which may affect the disclosure in the accounts of the club/group. {Ed002's Note - No. Their value is as written down on the books.}

Arsenal are there for the taking Saturday , there best players are gone or injured.
We just have to watch that little b**tend arshavin who always seems to play well against us
Sunderland draw was crap but its early days , 3 points on Saturday then its 4 from 6 which most would have taken.
Just results are the other way around.
Now stop with all the moaning FSG have give kenny the money what more do you want?

P.S Carroll is going to be world-class

LAVERS

So true, carroll will dominate

Love this post Lavers A bit more Positivity is what is needed on this site sometimes 1 game in the Arsenal are definately weaker than last season and we are by far stronger, lets get behind the players we have and take one game at a time, we have a great chance of winning at The Emirates YNWA
CoolhandLFC

Carrol will not be world class He will be sold next year at a huge loss. Whenever hes on his own up front Liverpool resort to long balls, useless and boring,boring, boring.............

Although sunderland draw was disappointing chelsea and arsenal drew against what i would say are weaker teams than sunderland so a win against arsenal and its a healthy (but not perfect) start to the season

'useless and boring, boring, boring...'

Just like this type of negative post then.

I agree Lavers i watched all the games and Liverpool played 45 minutes of brilliant football and should have been3 up, obviously the second half was disappointing but i definitely think we are heading in the right direction.

I love this coolhands wee nice post sayin it makes a difference from the nagative crap people normally spew up on this site... then straight away, as if magic, a nagative post pathetic excuse of an lfc fan go back to looting, you angry teenager

dlb

One point he forgets to mention the game is on sunday...another misinformed muppet

Ur the muppet it is saturday

Game is on Saturday, You Muppet

I think you'll find its Saturday MUPPET

LAVERS

Why will Carroll be sold if the defence keep lunmping balls to him, surely they can be taught to pass.. or wait do you know nothing about football...

Totally true.last bit re carrol and world class,maybe overegging it.but can,and i think should-do arsenal

Untrue,i never posted any of these replies,but because someone has different view,hes slagged.juvenille

'Whenever hes on his own up front Liverpool resort to long balls, useless and boring,boring, boring.............'

If you put any forward up front on their own you generally get the same result, thats not a Carroll issue.

DC & KD want to sell aqua and meireles there planning on getting moussa sissoko

FSG wanting the clubs wages to be more structured and trimmed of deadwood there striving for value for money. no benchwarmers on big money.

expect degen, el zhar, poulsen, cole , jones, pacheco, ngog, insua, eccleston to all leave before close of transfer window.

KD wants hummels and lavezzi to bolster squad.

Is this news?
I thought the Eds had said this weeks ago
and on nearly every post since re selling surplus players
rugbyred

Well those three players are pure class would love them at our club but i honestly can't see hummels an lavezzi coming but sissoko is possible if we trim our squad as you said
Skurks

We actually need "benchwarmers" who are world class and therefore command high wages. Too often recently our first XI has been as good as any in the Premiership. We have lost ground because when we need to shake things up during a match or we have injuries / suspensions the next 11 are not good enough to win matches. We cannot afford to trim the squad too much - it is the well paid players who are not good enough for the second XI that need trimming (Poulsen, El Zhar and Degen spring to mind).
Aquilani, Meireles, Maxi and possibly even Ngog, Insua and Cole are good enough for the second XI and therefore are not deadwod. To win (or even get a top 4 finish) in this league you need a squad of 25 everyone of which you should be happy to put in a starting XI.
Bob

Who are you? Anyway - I hope you are right about this as we need a strong midfielder to lead the team (Moussa). Also, Hummels would be my first choice anyday but I find it hard to believe a deal will materialize (very unlikely). Lavezzi? Can't see that happening altough would have been perfect for us.
-red norwegian-

Ed isn't Moussa Sissoko gone to Malaga?

Corkpoolred {Ed002's Note - No he is still in Toulouse. Sissoko has attracted interest from from Lyon, Roma, Genoa, Juventus, Liverpool and probably Napoli. Arsenal and Milan's interest appears on the wane. Damien Comolli has already let Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool see his man as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard. Right now Roma and Lyon appear to have the edge over Liverpool.}

Hey ed wat wud u think of this.. Chelsea whant raul m we want sturridge would we not just do a straight swop bought players would be worth round the same.. And whats the rumours bout forlan are they true please reply.. Great site im addicted to it. Abbeyfeale kev {Ed002's Note - Sturridge is not for sale and Liverpool have not shown any interest in the player. Forlan would want regular first team football at his age and would likely be expensive. I don't see either happening.}

17 Aug 2011 14:16:19
Eds do you reckon Iker Muniain would be a good signing? He's young and apparently full of talent. Shouldn't cost too much but he would be a risk. Thanks {Ed002's Note - I really can't see it happening. Sorry.}

17 Aug 2011 14:13:28
LFCGlobe
We fully expect Alberto Aquilani and Raul Meireles to leave Liverpool this summer. Several clubs in talks with #LFC over possible deals.

Hope this is true then the money raised could go towards a new centre back. Hopefully Cahill. But Dann or Showcroft would do

Basil

One of them. Not both We need creative players.

Surely Shawcross not Showcroft?

anyone know whether we may go for aaron lennon for right side or was it pie in the sky a while back probably jackanory

Rumours are citeh want lennon and spurs are holding out for adam johnson app he (aj) is up for it?

After what Lennon said about Liverpool he can go jump i would never support him wearing a Liverpool shirt

Headless chicken 1 in ten chance of end product, no thanks. adam johnson yes please. why would citie want lennon anyway nasri good as done deal.

Hi Ed, just read a rumor that Milan pull out on the chance to sign Aquilani. Is the deal really off or it's just a BS? or does this mean Aquaman finally staying? Since I Don't think Fiorentina could afford his wages. {Ed002's Note - Fiorentina, Juventus and possibly AC Milan are still interested. It is all about money now. Liverpool will either sell or loan to sell. The player and his agent have fouled up one deal with Fiorentina but are desperate to sort something out over the next two weeks.}

Ed where do you come from just today his agent said he wouldn't mind staying aswell ac have said they have pulled out because they only willing to pay 5 mil for him ... {Ed002's Note - His agent is simply saying what is politically correct. Fiorentina went to meet Aquilani when he arrived in Italy Sunday a week or so back. As we stand at present, what I said is correct.}

17 Aug 2011 13:17:52
Hi eds i know we had interest in diego perotti earlier in Janurary and one of the eds gave him a 6/10 to join if i remember correctly. My question is; do we remain interested and what would his chances out of 10 be now? Cheers {Ed002's Note - Liverpool opted for Downing ahead of other left wingers. Perotti could well be heading to Juventus.}

Perotti is right footed, just has a ver ygood left too which is why he plays out there. Would make sense to have 2 wingers which can be used either flank as downing can do the same. Would love to see perotti at anfield

Yer i agree mate, would be very handy. Could switch them about depending on opposition, give us another option. Really good player in my opinion.

Just been on QPR's wiki page and they have Philip Degen as a current squad player. Have I missed something? Or is this just wiki lies? I am looking after QPR this weekend for Everton game so will be able to shed more light on the situation soon

Why even bother mentioning Wiki? You cant take anything you read on there as truth. Best to leave it alone

Emos1892

Yes, the fact that Wiki is the most unreliable source on earth.

Ed's I remember you saying we put a bid in for Richards in January. Is there any chance we will be looking at him again?
Thanks
Phil {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

17 Aug 2011 12:49:30
lisandro lopez will be joining liverpool by the weekend ,the two clubs have already agreed a deal ,now its just personal terms and medical ..it was a concern that lopez wanted to play in the champions league but lyon are only in the qualifying stages and this is lopez chance to join a relatively big club in the premiership ,at the age of 27/28 he still has 5 good years at top level and he wants them in the premiership

RELATIVELY big club?

Jog on

Bollocks, copied off facebook.

Footybunker were talking about this a few hour back. My thought was that at 28 maybe a bit old for the club these days?
China Red

We did get linked with him for the Torres replacement but picked Carroll because he was the easier option to sign

Although unlikely he would be an excellent signing he is a really good finisher has good movement and pace, good option to have

Couldn't see it myself,i think we should go for someone a bit younger that the king and sc could mould into what they want,someone who was just born to finish like an owen(when he was young and fit) or a fowler(god),i know its a bit too late but i think shane long would fit that bill,or p odemwingie

Lopez is too old but you'd go for Odemwingie? Odemwingie's thirty which is two years older than Lopez and you say we should go someone a bit younger? Sort out your thinking before you post

This is on caught offside(as we all know THE MOST reliable site on the net.) Quoting £15mill minimum. (For a squad player, NO CHANCE)

Lisandro is top class... he has scored 32 goals in 59 app for lyon. and when his price is around 14,5 mio and up. 27/28 years. is a good age... qualiti back up..

17 Aug 2011 12:47:00
Hi EDS. If the rumours are to believed about Degen being a possible target for QPR and several clubs interested in Insua and if money is the only issue preventing deals being reached at the moment. I am sure that a compromise will be sorted out by L.F.C. very soon. It will be a benifit to us in the long run if we loose 1 or 2 million to get shut of these two, who are blaady pests.

Sure Insua is a pest. how about spearing?

I love the way people just throw around millions on here like its Champ Manager. If it was your 1 or 2 million loss im sure you'd feel differently. That is not the way to run a business

17 Aug 2011 12:39:10
Liverpool are looking at 1 of the following centre backs: Godin, Lovren, Cahill, Dann and Shawcross.

The are also looking for a pacy striker who can play on the shoulder of the last defender and can play out wide. Though Higuain isnt coming, this is why he has been linked. Walcott, Chu Young and Rodallega are all targets...some obviously more likely than others.

Think it will be godin? As I'm sure as I can be dann is off to arsenal and cahill off to spurs

Chu Young is no longer available to get as I understand.

I expect two centre backs to be signed.

If I hear the Walcott/Lennon rumour rubbish any more I'll throw up

Be reasonably happy with centre half,and another striker.quick one as you say.ideally like pacey wide right player too.think bar bad injuries.drastically poor long term form,we d be set then

17 Aug 2011 12:24:01
GuillemBalague twitter.
Chelsea INTERESTED in Mata FOR SURE. His buy out clause 60m euros but Valencia will consider selling for 30m. Chelsea want a winger. SO MATA RUMERS FOR US IS OVER?

Ed any ideas if this is true. {Ed002's Note - It is true but I want to make clear there has been no bid yet. Chelsea have fallen back on Mata after a second approach to see if Di Maria is available has failed. Hazard has been considered but there are concerns from the scouting folk over his attitude and his stated wish to play in Spain. As such, Mata remains an option for Chelsea.}

Mata "RUMERS" for us were just that.Rumours that were never going to happen.And worst were the stupid leaks that Mata was available for around £12/13 mill

Finally we see the back of this. And not soon enough I might add

17 Aug 2011 12:23:24
liverpool want to pay £12mil plus ngog for cahill
bolton want liverpool to pay £14 mil plus ngog.
only £2mill away now, i think i deal could be done. i'd say theres more chance of it happening now, maybe 7/10.
carlos
(my friend cleans a players car and this is what he said about 30 mins ago)

Lets get it sorted now pay a good price for good cb end of and ngog is off books

And as everybody knows, the car cleaner is the first to know when football transfers are about to happen....

Brilliant I'm off to get a bucket & sponge & hopefully by the end of the week I'll have my own page like Macca.

dd

Well we will see if this happens as i have heard Bolton have bid close to 4 million with add ons so the problem is Liverpool valuation of cahill how much is cahill worth 12 to 18 million so we need to make that gap up.

For some reason all your friends are indulged in odd jobs

Anyone want to buy a centreback and some Turtle wax?

All lol re replies however if this guys post is true,we d be cutting nose of to spite face for sakeve 2m

Car cleaner? nah was the guy who works down the chip shop who swears he"s elvis, but he"s a liar...... you know how the song goes

17 Aug 2011 12:17:39
Adebeyor £8m to spurs - seems a good price to me considering we want £6m for Ngog.

and yes - Tottenham will only pay up to £80k a week wages for any player according to Harry.

He is off on loan so if there paying a fee of 8mil to loan him for a season that is a terrible transfer ..

Adebeyor is a moody troublemaker so 'Appy 'Arry Redknapp is welcome to him

17 Aug 2011 11:53:56
Liverpool will not be signing Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Alexandre Pato, Diego Forlan, Paddy McCourt, Paddy McGuinness, me, me da, or Elvis. Let's remain a little grounded here. Under no circumstance will Dirk Kuyt ir Lucas be sold. Aquilani and Meireles are very possible if the price is right. One of Dann, Cahill or Mertsacker is possible. I don't see Godin as a likely option due to price and maybe Park Chu Young.

Is this the son of neymar. Because I was really hoping your da would sign

Youve just basicaslly copied every word the eds have ever said

Youve just basicaslly copied every word the eds have ever said

He has copied every word ever said by the eds, I'm happy with the signings we've made but it's still good to know if we're interested in 'marquee signings' for future windows..Party pooper

As opposed to what? Total BS? It's called a well thought out, considered opinion. Maybe that's the reason they're the eds. Think about that

Lol unfortunately I am not Neymar or his young fella

Sounds like someone with a bit of sense. I always thought people werent grounded or were given to flights of fancy. Now, I know they are just naive.

Well said, i agree you are talking sense, i cantl believe people on this site are still harping on about Mata, let it go we are not, i repeat not signing Mata

Park Chu Young is on the verge of signing for Lille so I wouldn't hold my breath for him

There is defo interest in your dadunfortunately,hear its from dale winton

That doesn't quite make sense mate as I never actually said "interested", but thank you for the contribution. Oh and well done on almost completing a coherent sentence. You better go and lie down now, you must be mentally drained.

17 Aug 2011 11:37:38
Ed you have said that kenny has been told that money is available if he wants it. DO you think that he will see another attacking first team player as needed as we looked as if we targetted buying more than one winger at the start of the window? I think elia, marin or mata would be perfect {Ed002's Note - I suspect the number one target remains a centre back and if one or both of Aquilani and Meireles leave, perhaps another midfield player. Opportunities for supporting strikers seem to have come and gone but I am sure the club remain on the look out for a young striker for the future if the player and price are right.}

Could muniain fall into the category of a realistic young striker or do you think he will be far too expensive at this stage? He would certainly give options as he could fill numerous attacking roles and know he was linked to us early in the summer. I do seem to remember ridiculous figures being banded about for him also however.
Cheers
Greggers {Ed002's Note - I don't think he would meet the "realistic" criteria. I don't see him moving to Liverpool I am afraid. If he does move, perhaps Roma remains an option.}

17 Aug 2011 11:34:23
Ed if we were to sell ngog and buy another striker who do you think would be the most likely player( now that park chu young is going to lille)? I personally would love sturridge {Ed002's Note - It would be guesswork to say who is most likely, but I think there is little or no chance of it being Sturridge.}

17 Aug 2011 11:04:28
Just heard an unknamed German club is after Kuyt, PLEASE keep Kuyt, he is much better and puts in more effort than others we have recently purchased, get a grip kk

Nonsense...They will NOT sell Kuyt You might as well write that ,,some EPL club is after Gerrard" or something like that.

Maybe you should get a further grip on your imagination. This unnamed German club might just be a figment of someone's imagination somewhere down the line. Then there would have to be an imaginary bid, and an imaginary Kenny would have to accept this imaginary bid. Christ.

Just calm down. Breathe.

TSP

Get a grip KK?? you said a German club is after Kuyt so why would KK need to get a grip? it dosent mean we will sell him a lot of teams will be after our better players. maybe you need to get a grip

"Get a grip KK?" Because an un-named German club is "rumoured" to be interested in signing Kuyt you've got the nerve to tell Kenny to get a grip Grow up dimwit

It took a while for me to fall,for Kuyt.What with his schoolboy good looks,and Dutch charmBut now he's one of the first names on the team sheet.Saturday aside,when we ended up paying for it.His work ethic is second to none,creates chances for others and scores himself.Why would we want to sell him?Henderson will not fill in for him down the right,this season anyway.

How come "just heard" equals "get a grip kk"? And whyever do you plead with Kenny in this site, I highly doubt it he needs to read rumours regarding his own club Have some fate, mate.

Yeah they will need to make an offer of 60mil to get so him dont worry

Why not? He is 31, he gives away possession a lot and he is very inconsistent. Don't get me wrong he has done good things but a lot of the time he is crap. There are kuyt haters for a reason. Might as well cash in on him as we won't be able to sell him when he is any older.

"Kuyt haters" you say?
As a matter of fact I think you would be surprised how few of those there are. Stevie and Carra aside, I think you will have a hard time finding a more beloved player than Dirk. He is the total definition of a loyal, hard-working team-player. And roughly everybody loves such a player. NEVER SELL KUYT. He will be in our team till he turns 38, then he will retire and do sports commenting on Dutch TV. Only to return at the age of 70 - to die on the Strawberry Fields. YNWA

/DanishKopite

Kuyt and agger will be out. So will RM. RM to chelsea for alex and sturridge. 30M in will pay for Lisandro López and lovren. Lopex ex team mate of Aquilana. So 4 strikers now and 2 new defenders. We lose 3 players and gain 4. Where is the negative...

DanishKopite, spot on mate, I dont know where the previous post is getting his information from regarding Dirk Haters? That is complete nonsense Dirk is in the bracket of the likes of Mølby, Hyypia, Didi, Xabi and many more foreign players who have graced Anfield and become legends.

James Mc

Agger will not be out you idiot. He is our best defender by a clear country mile.

Dirk Kuyt is one of the best things that has happened to Liverpool FC in the past few years How can anyone run down a player that will run and run until his heart explodes out of his chest Kuyt has the never say die attitude that a few of his team mates would do well to emulate. A true red through and through and a great role model for the youngsters. You need to get a grip sir.
The Mighty Beams YNWA

The team is leverkusen

No its not its Munich, no its not its hoff, no its not its dortmund. Just heard he's staying at liverpool wow that was a hectic 2 mins in the transfer window

If I was an alien and came to this website

I would think Kuyt, Carra, Gerrard and Lucas were absolute SXXX. As they get more slagging off then anyone else.

I would think Reina was the King

Don't believe me read past posts and use the search?

Oh wake up muppets kuyt is a 100% player but extremely limited and gives the ball away stop letting your hearts rule your head he has worked hard for us but isnt good enough to be a top player and anyway the story is bs so why are we even considering it, he will still be giving the ball away in 2 years time

I agree with the post Kuyt ball control is poor and he loses the ball far to often

Yeah kuyt is a terrible player, scores on average 10-15 a season playing on the wing most of the time. Runs his heart out. Automatic starter for the world cup finalists. Why would we want a player like him when there are dozens of unproven players out there just waiting to be signed for big money that aren't fit to tie his shoe laces. Get a grip you idiots

Lfc should issue hands off,if true

Yes Kuyt puts in 100%, Yes the man never gets injured and is never tired of running. Yes he is Liverpool Through and Through.
The man can't cross. So playing him on the wing is a pointless exercise.
He was originally a striker and his goalscoring records are good. So REALISTICALLY the best position would be as a stiker.
But we're not playing a 4-4-2. We're playing 1 Striker with two inside forwards cutting in from either wing.
So if he is a striker the only place for him would be on the bench as backup to carroll. Which would not be getting him much game time if carroll stays fit. Not like Kuyt is much of an IMPACT player off the bench either... He's nothing more than a workhorse.
So put your loyalties aside for one minute and think of the Squad as a whole. Yes we may love Kuyt and his loyalty. But does he really make us a world class team? No. And he is currently taking the place of someone who could if he is sold and replaced with a young wide talent.
YNWA.

17 Aug 2011 10:55:14
Heard that there was an offer for RM turned down from Spain over the weekend. Not sure about the price.

Plus a team in Germany is putting an offer together for Kuyt

17 Aug 2011 10:45:57
Ngog will sign for QPR for 3.5M - I have been told this will happen before Friday Lunch.

And I've heard the sun will rise tomorrow.I hope both rumours are true

Rumour has it Bolton increased their bet. Why don't we just play hardball with them.

If you want N'Gog - we want Cahill (not 1-for-1 of course) :)

/DanishKopite

Why would we accept £3.5m from QPR when Bolton are offering £4m plus add-ons?

Because QPR have not offered anything

17 Aug 2011 10:39:16
How can Bolton refuse to discuss Cahill future? It beggars belief.....cause he is in the last year of contract. Do they look to loose him for nothing? Or is there extension clause in his contract (like it was in Adam's)? If I remember clearly, their manager himself was encouraging teams to bid in the press.
Clarify the situation Ed, please...
RHI {Ed002's Note - I don't know what you have read, but if Liverpool are interested in Cahill they need to put an offer on the table that is acceptable to Bolton - then I am sure it can be discussed.}

Look Bolton are playing the transfer game.IF Cahill has turned down a new contract they will do the usual and say "Cahill is going nowhere" Nearer to the closing of the transfer window they will listen to any serious offers and then try to play one bidder off against the other to crank the price up as high as they can before selling him.Believe me they won't let an asset run his contract down and then leave for nothing.

17 Aug 2011 10:37:03
Liverpool to make 15m bid for Manchester City's Adam Johnson following the arrival of Samir Nasri.

Crap We could make such a bid in the certain knowledge that it has NO chance of being accepted

I am going to start chanting "om" 30 min a day for it to happen and maybe will sacrifice a goat.
rhi

Wil you get in your heads Adam Johnson isnt going anywhere he wants to stay Manchin wants him to stay. If City where going to let him go do you really think they would sell him to lfc. So move on it isnt going to happean.

17 Aug 2011 08:52:28
Just spoke to a fella who works for the echo, he said they expect a few more signings, nothing major though (no marque). Also said cahill is unlikely unless n'gog can be involved in the deal.

Nonsense, rubbish, bull. All of you write anything they want and all of you say that this will happen, that won`t happen. All of you have spoken to sb from the club and knows the one and only truth. When it comes to transfers, I doubt that except for KK and Comolli many people have reliable sources of knowledge. We shall wait and see what happens.

Dont shoot the messenger, this is a rumours site am i wrong and this is a rumour, no?

Why are you one here then.. obversly you like to read rumours

Well thats fine,ngog can do one

17 Aug 2011 08:36:40
Ed i have seen you say previously that ac milan were willing to sell pato. Do you know of any interest from liverpool? {Ed002's Note - Pato will not be moving to Liverpool this summer.}

Pato is moving to Liverpool next summer for a blockbuster 42M. The player is an avid fan of Liverpool in the English Premier League and has said in recent interviews that if he wanted a move to england, it was only to Liverpool. Our bid will be further boosted by us qualifying for CL which i know we will anyways... {Ed002's Note - There is of course no agreement for Pato to move to Liverpool next summer.}

17 Aug 2011 08:35:46
Ed i saw that on the chelsea and arsenal pages you say that they are both interested in hazard. Well are we not interested anymore as i know he was a huge target for us this summer and we say about champions league football but it looks like arsenal may not be in it this year. Just wondering if we were likely to at least try for hazard? {Ed002's Note - You will also see I noted that the player has stated his interest in moving to Spain. I doubt there will be a bid from Liverpool.}

Hazard at £30 mill plus inflated wages is a none started for us.Aside from his desire to play in Spain and in the Champions league.Yes this is a rumours site but rumours should have some grain of truth behind them.

He's also expressed a desire to play for Arsenal pretty recently too. What basis is there for stating that we were ever seriously interested in Hazzard?

17 Aug 2011 05:17:14
Monaco accepted a bid for Park Chu-Young from Lille.

Another with loadsve posters saying he d come to us,that didnt

17 Aug 2011 01:12:43
morning Eds and early readers. footybunker is reporting we are interested in the Argentinan, Lyon striker by the name of Lopez. Can either of the Eds confirm this? and how good is this guy?

what is the latest with G Cahill?
TIZER RED {Ed001's Note - footybunker? I have not heard of that rumour, Ed002 would be a better person to ask about it though I would think it unlikely. As far as I am aware there is no latest with Cahill, Bolton are refusing to discuss his future. But then Blackpool did the same regarding Adam, though slightly different as he asked for the move to happen.}

Lisandro Lopez is a fighter who never gived up Lyon would never have reached CL witjout him last season. Gourcouf was crap last year. Lisandro is pure class

Footybunker can be found with all the other similar sites on Walkon.com

The guy is a combination of kuyt and surez

Well simple if player wants to come,he does same as adam
