Eds, do you honestly see Suarez leaving this summer? On a percentage frame how likely is it he would leave? {Ed002's Note - He has been playing very well and you can expect interest in him from more than just those clubs who have already declared an interest. I imagine he will look at available options.}

If he reads this site he will be off in a flash as clearly the majority of fans have very little hope for the future under BR unfortunately

I think there is a good chance he will go in the Summer as LFC will not get top four this season or next - the midfield and defence needs surgery

17 Mar 2013 22:50:13
Rodgers was not the right man to lead this great club, he doesn't have that command or pedigree to convince or attract players to lfc, well as supporters we need to support him but I'm not really convinced and be happy if he is removed and we atleas appoint a top manager to turn things around.

Apart from Juventus and Bayern Munich, who else is interested in Suarez Ed002? {Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid in a part ownership deal.}

Part-Ownership for Suarez? Or are they interested in a exchange of players to LFC as part of Suarez deal? I thought the Part-Ownership thing was not allowed in the EPL?

The real AG {Ed002's Note - They are interested in a part ownership of Suarez as it would be the only way to afford him.}

So Ed002, they would be interested in buying say, 70% of Suarez's contract and would obviously want him to play for them. In the even Suarez moves on later from Atletico, LFC would get 30% of his transfer fees?

Seems like a deal we should avoid if possible.

The real AG {Ed002's Note - No, Liverpool are not financially in a position to get involved in such transactions. They would look to a third party investor or investors which is what they do with many of their players (e.g. they own less than 50% of the rights of Falcao).}

Haha. Athletico Madrid and juventus are dreaming! BM could afford him though but the other two are having a laugh! {Ed002's Note - They are serious but I very much doubt any deal with Atletico would happen.}

Do you mean Atletico Madrid are not in a financial position to do such a deal Ed002? Understood.

The real AG {Ed002's Note - No, they could raise the money OK.}

Sorry Ed002, a little confused here. If Atletico Madrid were to buy a 'portion' of Suarez's contract, Atletico would owe LFC a transfer fee right? If so, why would LFC not be in a financial position to do such a deal? After all, LFC are the selling clun and they should get money in 'exchange' for Suarez's contract.

The real AG {Ed002's Note - Liverpool financially could not afford to retain a financial interest in an asset playing elsewhere. There is no question of Liverpool being a part owner.}

Ahh, understood. Thanks for your patience Ed002, much appreciated!

The real AG

Bit of a follow-up question on the part ownership issue, if I may, Ed002. With a deal like that structured for Falcao, as an example, who retains the ability to sell the player? Is it the club or the majority investor (s)? Or is it dependent on the terms of ownership? Just curious. {Ed002's Note - If you want the player to play in England all parties have to agree. In other countries such as Italy, Portugal, Spain and South America the football club carries the registration and has to agree but would not really be in a position to block a move for long. In some cases (paulinho is a good example) the club the player is registered with may own as little as 10% of the players rights. In the case of Falcao, a number of businesses including Doyen Sports Investments and Quality Sports helped Atletico Madrid with the financing of the purchase of Falcao and therefore have a financial interest in him. If he were to move to England that would need to be addressed.}

Thanks, Ed002, as always. Appreciate the education and now I see why you say getting involved in these deals is generally a messy affair.

Hi eds what's the most u can see Liverpool spending on one we player and also do you see joe allen moving on in the summer {Ed002's Note - What Liverpool would spend would be influenced by Suarez leaving or not. I don't see Allen leaving this summer.

17 Mar 2013 16:06:24
Eds there slowly turning you into a fortune teller.
ha

Iawn.

Rodgers has done this a few times, when we're in form he changes it too quickly thinking nows a good time and we drop so many points this way You son't play two up top with no holding midfielder away from home.

how much would turan cost? and what's his availability? {Ed002's Note - Arda Turan will almost certainly move this coming summer subject to a suitable bid being made - something in the order of £18M-£20M. The likely destinations are England, Germany and Italy with rapidly increasing interest from Germany with both Bayern Munich and Schalke 04 declaring they would like to take the player. Atletico Madrid have already rejected a move from Schalke saying they did not want to sell in January. There is an outside chance of a return to Turkey.}

Eds

Any chance of a move for ter stegen this summer if so how much would he cost?

How much approximately would howedes cost now that he has signed a new contract?

If he was too expensive who would your choice for a new experienced cb be?

Is there the possibility that we will sign three new cb's if skrtel, coates and carragher go or would we look to youth?

Is Maxwell available on a free this summer and do you think he would be good backup for jose enrique?

Regarding CM is there ant interest in Diame still and do you think Iturra is good enough for us?

Is Honda available on a bosman in the summer?

Any interest from Liverpool in Menez?

Any ideas on strikers we are interested in or would be reasonably priced and good additions?

Thank You in advance if you answer these questions I will be very grateful.

Max {Ed002's Note - ter Stegen will likely be heading elsewhere. Howedes will not be moving this summer. Three CBs is very unlikely. Maxwell will not be available for free in the summer. I am not aware that Liverpool has shown any interest in Diame. Honda is not available on a Bosman in the summer. I am not aware of interest in Menez at this time. The focus will be on the defence, not strikers.}

Ed002 you allways seem to heve a great insight on the overall transfer market so I was wondering, with this being the last real chance for a lot of players to get a move to prove them selves over a season before the world cup, do you see a lot of players at the wealthier clubs who can't quite take the first team spot willing to take a pay drop to get first team football?
The players in the 27-29 bracket must be looking at this as their possible last chance to go, and a team like Liverpool could offer regular first team games to these experienced players, whilst the club is still high profile enough to boost their chances.
I have seen you regulary state you believe this will be a record transfer window, and I was wondering if this and the FFP rules are driving factors?
RNred {Ed002's Note - Players have to accept that they need to renegotiate their package when they move club and, as you say, some will be looking to move to get first team football (regardless of the world cup). This coming season will, in my view, see more spending on players than we have ever seen before and there are several clubs planning on very significant changes - and that comes at a very significant cost. Certainly the FFP rules are a major driver.}

Cheers Ed

Ed002 do u know what the owners view is on rodgers at the moment, do u think they will consider his position for next season or will he definately stay? cheers {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anyone (aside from some of the fans) wanting Rodgers to leave. There will of course be an end of season review of progress given it most unlikely that he will meet his objective for teh season.}

Ed002 surely the owners were not happy with rodgers when they enquired about ancelotti? I can;t imagine that they suddenly think he is great now considering we are still 7th {Ed002's Note - I don't think there is a plan to sack Brendan Rodgers at this time but clearly the board was sold on Rodgers who signed up with a plan to get the club back in to the Champions League. It is critical not just for the income from the competition itself, but it provides many more commercial opportunities that can be exploited, it raises the sponsorship from Standard Chartered to the full level and it certainly helps some not inconsiderable amount in attracting players in to the club. To support Rodgers, the business has funded £60M of gross spending on transfers this season, it is not an unreasonable expectation for them to want to see a return on this. That is the deal he signed up for. At the very least there will be an end of season review and Rodgers will of course (if necessary) need to explain why he has not achieved this target.}

Ed002 in that second post you sound as though it is possible that rodgers could be replaced this summer? the owners want and expect champions league and he has come no where near to delivering it {Ed002's Note - As I said, I don't think there is a plan to sack Brendan Rodgers at this time. One problem would be that any manager coming in would be stuck with the crop of players that are there to play the style Rodgers wants.}

Ed002 I get your point about the current crop but actually we have a lot of very good players. Also I think if a new manager came in it would be someone with a similar type of passing system eg frank de boer or pellegrini?

Surely it was a bit unreasonable to expect to go from 8th to a top four position in one season.
Who else recently (since Abramovich arrived a skewed the transfer market) has actually achieved that in a single season?

I'm not defending Rodgers as he wasn't my choice and I've yet to be convinced but expectations have to be realistic, not idealistic. {Ed002's Note - Spurs did exactly that in the 09/10 season and Everton went from 17th to 4th in the 04/05 season. Chelsea had qualified for the Champions League when Abramovich arrived.}

Ed002 do u think that the fact that the owners have no plan to sack rodgers at the moment means he will definately stay or could that all change between now and the end of the season? {Ed002's Note - Obviously things can change.}

18 Mar 2013 02:26:39
We are stuck with him, any new changes will cost our owners which I'm not sure they are ready to saction another cheque for new manager and players, they will be hopeing that Rodgers works and brings Champions league footy, or else they should sell the club not because I don't like them in fact they have invested but it has been wasted, I think we need fresh investment and hire top manager to turn things around I doubt FSG will invest big again or hire top manager who will demand big transfer budget to turn things around. FSG should start finding new investments or people who are interested buying the club because the problems at Liverpool are beyond their reach, the gape is getting bigger and bigger between us and top teams.

The problem is FSG will never break the bank to get a player again after Kenny and Carroll. Personally I have respect for them but I very much preffer an owner who solely concentrates on Liverpool alone and one who has endless amounts of money to give. Until we can buy 3-4 players in the 25-40M bracket we just can't compete however good our current players play I'm sorry.

Ed002 do u think pelligrini or ancelotti are possible replacements if brendan rodgers is sacked at the end of the season? {Ed002's Note - I have explained that I know of no intention to sack Rodgers.}

Interesting, Ed's my memory may be hazy but I recall that you mentioned Coutinho as an additional purchase to Rodgers 'kitty' and that he may of put additional committments in order to convince the board to provide extra funds for him and that may play a part in his end of season review. Do you know any details of what Rodgers objectives to achieve may have been to get the extra funds?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Champions League.}

Thanks Ed, I think we can comfortably say he's not going to have failed that one then!

17 Mar 2013 11:00:04
Eds I'm just asking this from curiosity, just want to know really, have any team ever had any interest in Lucas since he came it us? {Ed002's Note - CSKA Moscow were interested at one time.}

As were palermo. he almost went there under Hodgson

Hey Eds Quick Question, where do you think Robben of Bayern Munich will go in the summer? Surely Pep won't want him because he doesn't pass.
I am not saying for him to come to Liverpool by the way {Ed002's Note - It is very likely he will leave this summer.}

Is there interest in the player from anywhere ed? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Only from Anzhi that I am aware right now.}

17 Mar 2013 09:30:27
hi eds, great site, just wondering if we have any interest in Dejan Lovren? I think he would be the perfect foil for Agger at CB.

Thanks, Gavin {Ed002's Note - Lovren is attracting interest from a number of English clubs and has been watched by representatives of Sunderland, Everton, Chelsea, Stoke and Liverpool in addition to Barcelona and Hamburg. With Hamburg close to agreeing a deal for a centre back I suspect their interest will drop off. He could well be available at the right price in the summer, but Aulas will look for a higher fee from English sides if he sells - perhaps why he has explained which clubs have shown an interest in Lovren.}

Why will he want a higher fee from English clubs, you have said it a few times but never explained why. {Ed002's Note - Because English clubs will pay more than others.}

Liverpool had the chance to buy him a few years ago but stalled because they didn't have the cahunas

Eds do you know of interest in weimann of Aston villa? And before anyone says it no it is not match of the day fever as I havnt seen the game from yesterday yet, however I do know he got another goal and assist and when I have watched villa this year he has been consistently good for them and has been unlucky not to score more in the game I have seen. I also believe they are wanting him to sign a new contract which he hasn't done as of yet I think, I know he may not be a fantastic player by any means hut if we are looking at a young player like ince to come in then weimann would seem to me like a smaller risk as he has some pl experience and has shown he has ability not just in the league but against some of the best teams
Cheer
Alex {Ed002's Note - Aside from an offer from Young Boys being turned down in the summer, there has been no interest I am aware of in Andreas Weimann.}

17 Mar 2013 04:18:39
I was wondering if any of you EDs had any news over Carlos Bacca or Jelle Vossen. Bacca has been banging them in in Belgium. Thanks {Ed002's Note - Torino and Ajax have been showing an interest in Bacca. Vossen was of interest to Everton.}

Hey eds, based on the performance today it is obvious we need another defensive midfielders. Do you think we are going for someone who is more of a back-up and not a top class DM like Iturra or do you think we may look for a top class DM like Lars Bender who would be able to rival Lucas for the spot. Just wondering if we may start with an Alonso-Masch or just lucas with a better back up. Also would you see Bender as an interest or even if we are interested, Arsenal and other teams (Bayern) would most likely take him. Thanks eds, hopefully you can answer these. {Ed001's Note - this has been discussed to death. Bender is unlikely, but both of them look excellent players.}

Bender would be a good option.

How about Gustavo as Bayern Munich will be having a big clear out and he is certainly one of them that will be going, he can cover numerous positions and would cost no more than £12M.

Don't need one. Lucas or Henderson should have played ahead of Allen.
