I for one don't want a sugar daddy who will splash in a lot of money to sign high profile players for very high wages.it would be better if we stabilize and become a self sufficient club so that we don't get into these kind of messes in the future

The owners have a choice.
Don't pay the debt when it falls due and lose the club to someone who will buy the debt off RBS (and end up losing an asset and beig broke)
or. .
Make out that you are going to/ or in a position to refinance the debt - which may appear to make the club still viable and attract a 'desirable' price.
Hicks has got to do something. .
His options are running out.

H&G ARE PERSONA NON GRATA WITHIN THE FINANCIAL COMMUNITY IN NORTH AMERICA. THEY ARE FINISHED!

"Macca, who are you?"

Macca is the one who has been telling everybody for weeks that the sale is nearly complete. He apparently gets his information from Ian Ayres - Liverpool director.

It seems that nothing he has said has come true at all.

"I am still pretty sure we will have new owners soon.
All i have been told is that all is good behind the scenes, he would not say that if the yanks still had anything to do with the club going forward. .

I am very confident we will have new owners. You have my word that the info has come from Ian.

Macca"

From what you say Ian Ayres has very little knowledge of what is going on with the proposed refinancing then.

Obviously that is all the info he is willing to pass on.

Listened to Declan Curry on radio 5 live this morning at about 8:50. He said that Hicks met Broughton on Wednesday to discuss proposal of takeover/ coup.

He said Hicks is looking for finance and is proposing to remove Gillette from equation. The board could veto it (probably will), but if Hicks manages to get the money then RBS would walk away, and therefore so would Broughton. He also hinted Hicks could stage a coup, remove the directors and install his own yes men.

Interestingly, he claimed that he believed that there were at one time 20-30 interested parties, which was whittled down to 5. However, no bid is on table.

He said October 6th is an important date, but RBS have been flexible in the past and he believes will probably be so again.

He also believed (worringly for us) that Hicks was now a real option and that this could actually happen.

I was confident last night the banks would do the right thing. But what is a banks sole mission? To make money and lots of it. Not to look after a sporting bastion with a history and a tradition.

Surely the Premier League have to intrevene.

I read somewhere that Hicks has already put the offer foward on the europa league night just past and it was turned down flat but then again he is a stubborn c* t who would try again.

Ed, Are we going to see a new owner?? Its looking as we are going to be dorwned back to Hicks. . A bloddy nightmare. . {ed's note - I don't believe Hicks will be able to refinance, he has shown himself to be a bad risk.}

"100% agree with this statement, I think a lot of people on this forum do not understand or under estimate the consequences of RBS taking over on 6th october . .I for one hope that Hicks manage to finance for another 6 months at least.

Roy"

A buyer is sitting in the wings and RBS are aware of this. The proposed buyer made an offer but G&H went AWOL. If the board thinks that Hicks will raise funds and pay RBS, then they will push the sale through at the original offer price. However, the new buyer is hoping to buy the club off RBS at a much lower price. So don't panic guys. The yanks will be out by next month. . . . . 100% (as Macca would say).
