Hey eds any intrest in ibrahim afellay? How expensive would it be? {Ed001's Note - perhaps we should wait and see how he recovers from his ACL injury before we talk about him moving.}

Affelay would be a great signing and someone I have wanted at Anfield fr years now.

I'm hoping it happens come the summer as long as he can recover from his injury.

I would also be happy if we got Sergio Canales from Madrid. Excellent player and still young.

Jonesred

I agree Afellay is a good player and would suit us....... we have been linked with him in the past.......... depends how he recovers........ Lucas isn't guarenteed to be the same player when he comes back.......its a bad injury..........

He is due back soon isn't he? Should be of high interest to us in the Summer

Have heard that Johnson is defo oout in the summer as he has just passed clause in contract which has bumped his wage up to an amount the owners think is too high. any thoughts on this eds? also just a note on how well LuaLua looked tonight against reds.

Lua lua ISN'T Liverpool quality.......... what is with everyone and the Johnson thing............ i think this is the best season he's had.........

Wage ceilings, another sign of a mickey mouse club. Absolute disgrace.
LOoks like the days of Xabi, Masch, Nando quality players are well and truly over.
Won't be long before the NESV pr team are talking the "No one's bigger than the club " crap when Bobby Zamora replaces LUis. Sad times. Even sadder when the dummies cant see whats happening.

Its even sadder when dummies like you spout rubbish and want to put our club on the brink of administration again by paying stupid wages to players.
NESV are being sensible and running the club in a sensible way not like the last muppets.
SA

If he has already hit the number of games required for his wages to go up, why would he sit out the rest of the season just gathering those higher wages?

What a silly post!

Why would the owners have a clause in Johnson's contract that lifted his salary above a glass wage ceiling that were not prepared to go beyond?

Also why put that salary in the first instance into Johnson's contract which was only renwed last summer, Huh?

Please no conspiracy theories!

Need to think peeps?

Whats that I smell, sheep, cow, no, its BS

Blinko

I would of thought it would be best to have caps on player wages rather than have a player controlling the club sayin he wants £250k a week or hes leaving then payin it him

I hope he does go in the summer, although I don't think he'll have got a wage increase. He surely can't have a contract that says he must play when fit, and ALSO include a clause that ups his wages after a certain amount of games. If you've got to play him, it's a certainty he'd reach the number of games needed to whack up his ridiculously high wages. Think it should be noted that while Lua-Lua isn't Liverpool quality, Johnson made him look pretty good yesterday with some poor positional defending again.

eds are liverpool interested in ilicic or piatti? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Piatti just moved to Valencia (correct?) this past summer and is highly unlikely to move. But he's more lightweight than Di Maria, not sure he's suited to the prem.

Hello Ed002,
was/is Liverpool interested in Younes Belhanda from Montpellier HSC?Great site and work!all the best.
{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

19 Feb 2012 20:21:38
hey eds,
why does ozil want to leave madrid? or is it there trying to get rid of him?
And do you think it is possible to sign him in the summer if champions league is reached?
cheers,
josh {Ed002's Note - I don't see Oezil necessarily being in the summer but Liverpool may well be interested if Champions League qualification has been achieved. I am sure that there would be plenty of interest from elsewhere, not least Manchester United, Inter Milan and Juventus.}

19 Feb 2012 20:15:54
Hi ed's will Marco Bueno still sign in March this year, if I am not mistaken, that was always the plan, to wait until he is 18?

LFC_7 {Ed002's Note - I am not sure if he came back for the second trial or not.}

Last I heard his advisors said he would not come back for a second trial and there was talk of him signing for a club in Italy although nothing further transpired

Blinko

Might be wrong in saying this but i am sure he signed a pre contract agreement with LFC in July 2011 and he will be joining the club in the Summer.

19 Feb 2012 17:43:44
Ed did we ever actually sign the Scandanavian goalkeeper Nordtveit?

{Ed002's Note - I have heard nothing of it since the beginning of the month but, as he is a free agent, there is no time limitation.}

19 Feb 2012 17:27:56
Heard we are looking at mateo Kovacic in the summer

Square tomato {Ed002's Note - Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and no doubt others have an interest in Dinamo Zagreb's Kovacic. Seen to be one for the future but I suspect that he could spend time in Germany gaining experience before a move to one of the more major players in European football. In the summer, Barcelona offered up a small financial payment for Kovacic on what I understand to be an 8 year contract with the first two years back on loan in Zagreb.}

Ok maybe not then lol cheers ed good luck to him.

Hey eds do you think if we sell Suarez that Pato may be an option to replace him as Milan were open to him moving to PSG in January ?

Cheers and great work. {Ed001's Note - I very much doubt it, he isn't good enough, on far too much money and is always injured.}

Pato isn't good enough, indeed. He is rated much higher than he is, esp at current. I hope that Suarez would be staying. YNWA

We can get Pato if we use Aqua as bait, but we would need a bid of about 35M at least to tempt him. I dont think he is over-rated in terms of hype, but i think its his price which isnt right considering how injury prone he is. I can only think of a 3 man attack of Suarez and Pato on the wings with Carroll as the target man.... {Ed002's Note - The agreement with respect to Aquilani is already in place so he cannot be used as bait.}

19 Feb 2012 15:17:13
hey eds are interested in Lazar Markovic ? ...RED INDIAN {Ed002's Note - Lazar Markovic is a young Serbian footballer who has attracted the attention of Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen and Espanyol. A move in the summer is possible but Partizan Belgrade may price him out of the market.}

Also its was reported last night that chelsea have sent agents to secure a deal for him, is this true?.....RED INDIAN {Ed002's Note - I am not sure what agents Chelsea are suposed to have sent but Markovic interests Chelsea amongst other teams and a representative from Chelsea has recently discussed the possibility of signing the player signing a long term contract once he is 18 and loaning him back for a year or two.}

Question to Ed001 specifically,

I have used the search function but only went back so far (due to having a long week and little sleep) so forgive me if your opinion on the matter has already been expressed.

In your opinion do you feel we will sell Saurez? and if so, on who's side would the sell be engineered by? Saurez, Management or Owners or a combination of all three through mutual consent or other?

LFC4LIFE {Ed001's Note - if the right offer comes in, I believe he will be allowed to go, but only for the right offer. Mutual consent it would be.}

What do u mean by right offer ed, Good price or club that comes to buy him. I saw Ed002 saying we won't be getting more than 25mil, but i would not even consider him selling for anything less than 40mil. If Cavani is valued more than 45mil then Suarez is worth way more. I know cavani is a very good striker, but for Uruguay suarez makes cavani look like a pony. Its just like villa and torres for spain. Yes i know he is in some controversies, but u r selling a 25 year old striker whose abilities can only be matched by very few in the world that u can count them using single hand. I personally don't want him to go, but IMO right offer is the one which we not only replace him with the money but also buy another good player like Right Winger. Ur opinion Ed001.

AJ {Ed001's Note - well he didn't say we wouldn't get more than 25m, he said nothing of the sort, merely agreed that one of Suarez's potential suitors valued him at about that much. Personally I am of the opinion that he is more trouble than he is worth right now, I would take 25m, but I doubt the club would take under 30m. I am not sure why you think we would struggle to replace a misfiring striker who has created little for other players though? Yes he has fantastic ability, but he is not harnessing it for the team's benefit at the moment, he is creating himself chances then blasting over or wide.}

Are you forgetting that he is our best player? If you want us to sell him im bemused. Who can we replace him with? His probably in the top 10 players in the world at this moment. His only not creating or scoring much because his playing with players who aren't good enough to even link up with him.

I understand ur point ed, but we do business here and it would be bad business if we sell him even for 30mil. Regarding suarez'a game even messi and ronaldo play that way, don't they? I can understand if he is causing any stir in dressing room, but he is very good regarding that. But we should not let sponsors decide our transfers. Man Utd has history of bad players and i don't see this kind of issue with them. If suarez is a PR disaster, ronney is pretty much for Man Utd and even Terry who is in this kind of controversy and not attracting tis kind of attention.

AJ {Ed002's Note - The point is, like it or not, that the owners are yet again in a disaster recovery mode from Suarez' actions. It was entirely unprofessional of the main sponsors to make any sort of statement in the public domain, but they have done that. You need to get away with making these comparisons - they are meaningless.}

Ed, Our biggest sponsor pays us less than the cost of one Suarez per year. They don't set transfer policy. {Ed002's Note - Nobody is suggesting that they do.}

Well the owners need to move on if they are going to let this incident dwell. Really blown out of proportion. A game on it already seems to be fading. Disgrace if we sell Suarez over this.

Suarez not going any where from what i saw yesterday surarez+carrol+kenny = big smiles and passion

19 Feb 2012 14:58:12
Liverpool have given a trial to porstmouth player sam magri and is it true eds that spurs have made a bd for damiao {Ed002's Note - Leandro Damiao remains of interest to several clubs including Spurs, PSG, Roma, Sporting Lisbon, Inter Milan and Juventus. Lyon, Arsenal and Barcelona seem to have dropped any interest they had in the player. January 2013 may be a more likely time to move than the summer although with bids from Spurs and Roma on the table, PSG may force a summer move.}

19 Feb 2012 14:49:55
Just a thought. If Arry gets the England job, do you think that Johnsons place at right back would go to Walker and if so would this affect the amount of money we would get for him if he were to be sold?

Jack the Groove {Ed002's Note - Whether Johnson plays for England or not will not impact his transfer fee.}

19 Feb 2012 14:43:11
drogba is a free agent in the summer. i would go for him, provided of course chelsea dont offer him an extention. obviously not number 1 choice for many reasons, his age being the main reason, but if we could get him on average wages for 2 years, he could be a brilliant signing. anyone else have an opinion on drogba?

ryan c belfast YNWA! {Ed002's Note - Chelsea have offered him a one year deal and he wants a two year deal. If nothing is agreed with Chelsea he will head to the Far East or the United States.}

19 Feb 2012 14:38:04
Ed do you think Liverpool are interested in Juan Manuel Vargas of Fiorentina? He is a brilliant crosser of the ball with pace.
N.I Red {Ed002's Note - I doubt it. Liverpool have had their chance to buy Vargas and chose Downing and Enrique to cover the left.}

Its a shame Vargas seems to be everything Liverpool were expecting Downing to be.

Kenny strikes again

Hi Ed's, I read this site on a daily basis and quite often am I perplexed by the fantasy like posts some readers think we can just go out and implement. I do like everyone else wish w could compete and be the old Liverpool but I feel some sections of supporters next to be realistic in our approach. Yes we are rebuilding and this takes time, some games I look at and think we only need tweeking then others we perform like a second rate side with average players. This I feel is more evident than not which highlights the fact our players are only capable once every couple of games of producing quality. I would be happy with the following ;-

Wingers

Lennon
Payet

Midfield
Sissoko

Centre Half
Vertoghen

Fowards
Remy depending on availibilty
Lisandro Lopez "many my question but class 28 and wo't be to expensive"

Lennon wouldn't leave spurs for liverpool, vertonghen is being courted by spurs and arsenal, as for a winger app the back room staff really like jg arvis, can use both feet, good delivery, not much waste & good positional sense! As for forwards I think remy is a good shout although I think there could be better out there? Are spurs going to take adebayor? They look set to get hazard regarding what most say! They look set to possibly land as well damiao, so how about adebayor? Has been working hard this year, not a fan but an admirer of lfc, what about hunterlaar? Now if suarez stayed (big if) could see both linking up well?

Lennon? Really?Why??

19 Feb 2012 10:10:22
If Mauricio Isla were to sign from Udinese, would this mean that Johnson would definitely be sold, or could we do a Bale with him and turn him into a winger?
I know it's probably too early to say, but as Liverpool and Groniningen couldn't agree a fee for Teixeira, would their interest turn elsewhere for a new striker, or are we still interested? {Ed002's Note - If Isla joins I would expect Johnson to leave, but with Isla out injured he will need to prove his fitness before making a move. I really don't know if there was any real interest in Texeira or not and as you say it is very early to say. Champions League qualification may see additional funds freed up for purchases and will most likely be a significant driver.}

Howdy all again,

Just wanted to say for those of you who are interested about Luuk De Jong that there has been a Player Profile uploaded to Mine and Ed's other website www.player-profiles.co.uk

So if you want to find out more about him as a player and his statistics etc be sure to have a look.

Thanks all,
{Ed022}.

Could do without all the noisy adds though.

Eds, i have seen on here a few people post that Christian Poulsen is still contracted to the club, didnt he leave the club on a free on summer deadline day to Evian in France? or was it a loan?

Gav {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that it was a one year deal with Liverpool paying most of his wages - and at the end he will be a free agent and Liverpool will not need to pay him any more money.}

He isnt on the player profile list on lfc.tv with all the other players out on loan, so i would say he is gone for good {Ed002's Note - Yes - as I said, at the end of the season he will become a free agent and Liverpool will not need to pay him any more. But as of right now, most of his wages are being paid by Liverpool.}

Summer outs.

F. Auerilio.
M. Rodriguez.
A. Aqualani.
J. Cole.
C. Poulsen.
Carragher (retired).

Summer ins.

E. Lavezzi.
I. Affelay.
S. Canales.
J. Vertonghen.
M. Marin.

Jonesred

Outs are good, lavezzi, vertonghen, canales are not real

One thing about this... Carragher got a 2 year contract extension which takes him until 2013 or 14 not to sure which so he wont be retiring I think he's a quality player love him to peice gonna hate to see him leave our game :(

You personally paying for well over 100mil of players?

That's amazing we're buying 4 players for similar positions.

Quit playing football manager!! We aren't made of oil or gold!!

Poulsen has allready bin sold

Wow the lame replies to the above players unbelievable.

A hundred million worth of players??
I would say Lavezzi wouldbe dearest at 20-25 million.
Affelay would cost no more than 10-12 million.
Vertonghen would roughly cost 10-15 million.
Which leaves Marin and Canales. In my opinion I think these would cost 15-20 Marin and 8-11 million for Canales.

So I would say it would roughly cost 70 million and not the 100 million some people ate saying.

Another poster states they all play the same position ? Yeah strange I know.

Marin is a right sided mid.
Vertonghen is a centre half.
Lavezzi is a striker.
Affelay is a right sided out and out winger ( not like we have anyone at all for the right at present).
Canales can play anywhere across midfield or attack.

As for the FIFA jibe, I think you have been on it too long as I don't have time to play that.

I think if this time last year I wrote well sign,
Henderson for 16 million.
Downing for 20 million.
Adam for 8-10 million.
Enrique for 6 million.
Coates for 7 million.
Bellamy for free.
Plus that we would be chasing Jones for 18 million and the only reason we never signed him was because the deal was hijacked.

I would have probably received the same responses then, as I have here.

Let's face it, it was a south American football expert that leaked a deal had been done for lavezzi not me.

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - There is no done deal for Lavezzi.}

Well I think you're understating lavezzi and Marin- those 2 alone would be close to $50 mil. The other 3 around $30- $35. Players out adds up to about $12 mil if that, so we only need $70 mil ish to sort it before the big wages come into play. Seems to make commercial sense to me.... Just need someone with $70 mil + burning a hole in their back pocket

Rob s

Or a sports consortium that is willing to back one of their investments.
Did you see these owners spending a 100 million last summer? No you didn't.

That figure would have been much higher if we had also signed Jones For 18 million.

So yeah I do think them targets are achievable. Your valuation of Marin is too high for me too. I don't think he would command such a fee.
More 10-15 tops, hes not English so the fee wouldn't be inflated.

Jonesred

I have watched vertonghen many times i would leave well alone the phrase yard dog comes to mind

Poulsen hasn't been sold yet.

Jonesred

My opinion you've just got a list of players, that everyone knows we would like, however are wont sign.

Poulsen left on dead line day
We should sign hoilet good player {Ed001's Note - Poulsen went on loan.}

19 Feb 2012 00:27:44
Ed002 or Ed001, U guys r saying suarez is likely to be sold. Is this just ur educated opinion or do u have some info from insiders of the club or some others outside about this and owners are looking to sell him due to pressure from sponsors. I would appreciate reply from Ed002 since he/she is neutral and would most likely give the correct info without any bias.
Thanks
AJ {Ed002's Note - It is opinion that he will likely be sold.}

And ed002 love that opinion because he/she has been championing it for a while now. He/she just can't wait to get rid of bad boy Suarez.

BooDaBooze
{Ed002's Note - Try not to piss off the Eds with your cretinous remarks. I would not have that opinion if Suarez had not been a complete idiot and put the owners in the position where Liverpool's name is being dragged through the mud.}

I think it's the majority opinion that Suarez will go in the summer, as much as i'd like to see him stay. In my opinion, only 2 scenarios will see Suarez stay with us next season. A) He keeps his head down, plays his heart out and virtually secures 4th place for us on his own, or B) No-one offers what we feel is a reasonable offer. Shame really, but lets face it, when have we ever had a player playing with us that's caused so much hassle?

Rugby Parker

Of course all of this playing right into the hands of Alex Feguson and the Man Utd biased 'media mafia'. Forgetting what you think of Suarez, with him and Carroll both in the team, I strongly believe we are just 3-4 intelligent summer purchases away from being serious contenders again, and AF and his supporters know this. Lose Suarez and there's a bigger restructuring to contend with.

Sir Masher

No chance

Howdy all,
Just thought i'd drop a quick comment and say to people that care about Liverpool's transfer intentions, Ed001 recently pointed out that Liverpool were monitoring the young Matt Phillips of Blackpool.

Myself and the Eds have just created a website called www.player-profiles.co.uk and a profile on Matt Phillips is up and running for those of you who want to check out the player and his credentials.

Thanks all,
{-Ed022}
