Just seen paper talk regarding west ham interested in Sturridge for 18 million.
I'm torn on whether I would like us to sell sturridge or not, part of me wants to give him until next season to regain full fitness but part of me thinks he's never going to get over his injury nightmare, and 18 million seems a decent sum for a lad we can never seem to play.

If he leaves and long comes in I'm going to cry because whan fit he's easy in top 3 st in the prem.

Agree28 Disagree3

19 Jan 2016 23:57:50
I'm with you on that. Long isn't even top ten in the prem. I'd hate to see sturridge leave for a prem side. They were looking med with Balo 2 days ago so maybe it's just press trying their luck.

Why would West Ham even consider a bid for Sturbridge at this time?

Don't waste the eds valuable time having to respond to this nonsense!

Agree4 Disagree5

20 Jan 2016 06:19:03
It wouldn't surprise me that it's 'true' that West Ham are interested.

As for Liverpool, then surely we can give until the end of the season, unless of course, a done-deal has already been agreed for him to leave.

Sincerely hope not.

20 Jan 2016 07:47:12
this ain't happening this is coming from the brentwood gazatte we already have one crock on the books besides we couldn't afford his 120 k aweek wages.

Agree5 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 08:06:08
A 20% fit Sturridge will probably still score us more goals than a 100% fit Long - it's a sad day if Long and Caulker are the best we can do.

Agree7 Disagree10

20 Jan 2016 08:38:08
Maybe Andy Carroll needs a physio room buddy?

£18m plus agents fees, taxes and huge wages in the January transfer window with no sign of injury recovery or remediation is neither financially viable, feasible or makes one single iota of business sense

It is simply not going to happen, and nothing but tabloid garbage teasing the gullible people who read that tripe.

regarding sturridge, liverpool should do as a good lover do when u find out your partner no longer love u - "i will let go becuase i luve u "

When did the Brentwood Gazette become the tome of all knowledge?

Has anyone looked at the website? the front page news is that they're 'horrified' a Costa Coffee is due to open in November on the High Street! seriously?

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 12:08:18
I know it's not true but I would snap their hands off. Over half way through the season and the guy has played 4 times, sorry but lfc cannot afford to carry this guy regardless of how good he is when fit. WHEN is the important word, a guy who is hasn't played a full seasons worth of games in nearly 4 yrs! £18m represents a profit on the guy, another chance like this will not happen. It's very likely that Daniel will be completely fit ever again as I'm sure that his problems are his mental state now. That's much harder to resolve. We would be absolutely stupid to turn it down.

Agree3 Disagree3

20 Jan 2016 12:48:59
I agree - A very difficult decision to make because at his best he is lethal. Is this now becoming a mental issue for him? I'd say that we've seen his best and it's definitely worth waiting until the end of the season for. However the longer he stays injured the less confident I am that he is able to recover.
Could we get a loan until the end of the season? Who is available? -
Rossi?
Remy?
Even Adebayor knows where the back of the net is!
That would allow us time to assess Sturridge again and then find someone during the summer

Could we offer West Ham Benteke instead?

Hey Eds, just wanted to see if there been any updates on Anwar El Ghazi, remember Liverpool being linked to him in sept/ oct of last year. What's your opinion of him Eds? Think he's got some upside, while maybe not the top target to get, I would take him over a good chunk of players Liverpool been linked to.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Ajax will look to keep Anwar El Ghazi from interested parties for perhaps one or two years. Bayern Munich, Milan, Liverpool, Manchester United, Leicester, Atletico and Chelsea have all declared an interest. The player has said he wants to play for Real Madrid. Chelsea were to put an offer on the table in the summer and would have been willing to leave him with Ajax for up to two years. However a third party advisor to Chelsea blocked any move at that time citing the player as still being inconsistent and wanting longer to consider whether or not Chelsea should progress a move for the player who he thinks could "disappear" very easily at a higher level, and particularly in England - this was the same person who said Depay was not ready this summer. Arsenal have now had him watched in a match against Vitesse Arnhem - whether that will manifest itself as interest or not is unclear right now. Milan will use income from El Shaarawy to explore again if a deal can be done.}

19 Jan 2016 15:21:33
Afternoon Eds, informative site as always, I was just wondering is their any substance to the rumours we could be interested in Ayew from Swansea.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No, Ayew is not one of the dozen or so forwards Liverpool has made approaches about today.}

19 Jan 2016 16:20:45
hi ed could you let us know the players Liverpool have made approaches for today?

Cheers.

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 13:01:51
Realise won't happen but a swap of Ayew for Allen would make perfect sense. Can play striker in a pinch like Firmino but also pacy attacking mid/ winger who can score goals once the rest of our strikers are back.

If we had to take a Swansea player, Jefferson Montero would be a better choice, no?

19 Jan 2016 11:27:11
Is there any truth in the rumours that Liverpool have agreed to sell Sinclair to Watford rather then let his contract run out?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is not as simple as that but Watford are interested - as has previously been explained.}

19 Jan 2016 11:48:16
Thanks for the reply do you think he has what it takes to make it at Watford? Or should he move to a smaller club and work his way up?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He is young and particularly stupid. He has a number of options to consider - he has already turned down a pre-contract offer from Espanyol. Watford is an option now. He could hang on to the summer and then, as a free agent, see what signing on fee he can command. The one thisng he seems not to care about is Liverpool.}

19 Jan 2016 11:55:50
I think it will be fair to say this next move will probably decide how his career will go? I have a feeling he will be another one of those players at the top clubs who just ruin their careers because they don't have a decent brain cell.

Agree12 Disagree0

19 Jan 2016 12:10:58
You know he's stupid when it seems he'd rather piss off to somewhere like Watford than dig in and try to impress someone like Jurgen Klopp while a striker injury crisis hangs over the team.

Agree15 Disagree0

19 Jan 2016 12:42:28
Cant really fault him when Klopp plays without striker and send Caulker.

He needs to ensure that the next club give him game time and not max sign on fee.

It would be better for him to go to a 10-15 club and work his way up.

Agree3 Disagree19

19 Jan 2016 12:46:54
Why would Klopp put all his trust in a player who doesn't want to be there?

Agree18 Disagree0

19 Jan 2016 14:05:14
When you look at our track record of bringing through youth recently I can understand him wanting to leave. I've lost count of the young prospects we've let rot on loan or in reserves so fair play to him for trying his luck somewhere else, just hope he's leaving with dignity though and not his agent stirring things for more money.

Agree5 Disagree8

19 Jan 2016 15:31:06
If he has a bit of sense, he would realise that if he works hard and deserves a chance he will get it under klopp. I can't imagine he's short on confidence, but if he had a good attitude, I'm sure he would get chances considering he scored against Exeter, but he didn't seem to put his all into that game.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He is out of contract in the summer.}

19 Jan 2016 18:23:34
Yeah I understand that ed, I don't feel he deserves a contract as he's burnt his bridges now.

NB red, where are all these players now?

Our buddy Aidy Ward is his new agent if I remember correctly. I think Sinclair can be a good player but as Klopp said education over money.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 08:24:30
Sinclair Knows where the back of the net is. But he sees other young players earning massive wages and he doesn't want to wait for the big dosh on offer. Unfortunately the money in the game is one of the reasons that these youngsters think they're big time Charlies. Players of yesterday had to keep working hard to stay in the game. Now it's a case of earn a big sign on fee and multi million pound contracts for having potential. These kids aren't bothered about who pays them, just who pays them the most. At Exeter Sinclair showed he can put the ball in the net without breaking sweat. He also put an extra 0 on his signing on fee.

Ed002/ Ed001

Rob green?

tell me we have more ambition than this? if true, why bring ward back to then sign another keeper? why not give ward the chance?

thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest in Rob Green from Liverpool at this time. Certainly there is interest from elsewhere.}

19 Jan 2016 14:57:01
I distinctly remember when he was on West Ham and they shut out united, he must have had 15 saves 4-5 of which should have been goals. Knowing our scouts they watched that one game and are basing there recruitment off of it.

He also had a great game against the US in the 2010 world cup.

I'd rather we had Cee lo Green, does that make me crazy?

Hi eds is there any truth in this?
Juventus have turned down a €60m offer from Liverpool for striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports in Gazzetta dello Sport.
I imagine just nonsense as its so random, but thought I'd ask.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Morata remains of serious interest to Real Madrid who would like to re-sign the player but Juventus are looking for a way to keep him away from Real Madrid and unless a replacement is found he will stay (at least until the summer). And the player is by all accounts happy to stay. There is however interest in him from London.}

19 jan 2016 10:15:24
gday eds,
have liverpool no interest in moussa dembélé at all? we could use a left footed forward an he's a real bargain right now. certainly better value than long or berahino.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Bayern Munich have both been aware of Moussa Dembele since his time at PSG and were both interested in signing him when he opted for Fulham as a 16 year old. Newcastle, Lille, Juventus, Napoli, Everton and Spurs have also been looking at Dembele since the start of the season with recent glances from Manchester City, Liverpool, Wolfsburg, Chelsea, Marseille and Monaco. A move in January is possible with his contract running out at the end of the season but Slavisa Jokanovic will try and have him sign an extension, no doubt advising him that if he moves he could be sat on the bench or playing in the reserves. Wolfsburg are hedging their bets by pushing ahead with an alternate player whilst working to see if a deal can be done for Dembele. Monaco will likely put an offer directly to the player and will seek a pre-contract agreement.

19 Jan 2016 10:04:07
morning eds
just a quick question Reports originating from Italy claim that Liverpool have made a late move for Cristian Tello. any legs on this please.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware. Tello is on a two year loan to buy deal at Porto but may be moving in January if they receive a significant payment - which is on its way from the nice folks at Fiorentina who have a cheap loan-to-buy-cheap deal with Barcelona that includes Porto being paid off and another little "consideration" that will be to the future benefit of Barcelona. In the summer he will likely have an option of making his loan permanent. This is the expected money-driven twist involving Fiorentina that could see other arrangements thrown up in the air I mentioned before.}

Hi Ed001,

Long time reader and first time poster. On the site everyday. Keep up the good work!

I've seen quite a few rumours flying around recently regarding Berahino.

Do you see any potential in these rumours, or is it a load of tabloid garbage, like usual?

Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - the worrying thing is that he is under consideration. Things really are that bad.}

19 Jan 2016 09:34:34
Berahino who scored 20 goals last season?
Is that a bad thing we are interested in a young player, who suits our style of play that can put the ball in the net?

Agree2 Disagree5

{Ed001's Note - he is a walking trouble maker, yes it is a bad thing.}

19 Jan 2016 09:48:48
It is a concern he's been in a bit of trouble while at West Brom, trying to force a move thru etc but could that be put down to exuberance of youth, who is agent was etc?
Let's face it, we've put up with a lot worse from strikers.

Of the available forwards this window, he seems the pick of the bunch. A player who scores 20 goals in a season at the age of 21 should not be discounted.

Agree2 Disagree2

19 Jan 2016 09:57:24
So ed, who are the goody 2 shoes who are affordable, willing to join us and score 20 goals a season?

Agree0 Disagree4

{Ed001's Note - I don't want goody two shoes, you are missing the point, I want their attitude aimed at wanting to win, like Souness always was. I think it is stupid to spend money on average players just for the sake of it. Save the money because there is no one worth buying.}

19 Jan 2016 10:01:24
Do u think Klopp can Kick the trouble out of him.

{Ed001's Note - nope, rewarding a kid for being an arse does not stop them being an arse.}
