I don't think we will sign anyone and Klopp is planning for the summer.

i would be amazed if we sign one this January, no chance 2/ 3 are coming in. Dahoud is one for the Summer I'd presume.

What about Leon Bailey?

Without reading anything from the Eds, I think if we make any signings it will be younger players for the future to go into the academy or we'll not go in for anyone.

It would be a surprise to see an expensive first team signing arrive.

Plan for the summer which'll be a challenge again particularly with Coutinho and Firmino maybe leaving among others

We will have plenty of cash to spend then if them 2 leave .

Hey Ed's/ Reds

A few sites reporting Liverpool interest in Leon Bailey a 23 year old Jamaican from Genk. The report I read mentions a loan back for the rest of the season would be likely as he had been considered a target the summer and not ready for the first team just yet. but due to interest from a couple of others this window (Bayern Lever and Roma) Liverpool would be prepared to bid 20m this window.

Firstly is there any interest from us?

Secondly does anyone know much about him can't say I do at all so any opinions welcome.

Thanks

{Ed002's Note - Genk's Leon Bailey is continuing to attract the attention of a number of sides, particularly those from England who would like a deal before the opportunity for him become home grown disappear. He has previously opted to turn down Chelsea for Genk where he knew opportunities would be better. Bayer Leverkusen, Lille, Newcastle, Ajax, Roma, Crystal Palace, Manchester United and Napoli have all watched him recently and Napoli have had a couple of discussions with Genk with one of his representatives available to discuss the views of the player. Efforts are being made by a sports agency to ease out the representatives he has now and this has irked his father who plays an important part of the decision making process and is concerned the player could slip in to obscurity if he moves too early. Folks have asked about Everton and Liverpool interest but there seems to be nothing of note. Right now he is not ready for the EPL, so a loan would be likely if he were to move to England but I don't see any chance of a January move - perhaps one to ask about again in the summer.}

Seen him play live once against my hometown club in the europa league this season, he's direct, extremely quick and his footwork is mesmerising. His end product is lacking but at only 19 this can easily be improved. Also his passing is underrated, he's quite a technical player which can easily be overshadowed due to his obvious physical attributes.

Just inquiring about speculation surrounding Geoffrey Kondogbia? Probably recycled BS, there is a lot of websites claiming Liverpool are interested in the player, he has huge potential and his career seems to have stalled at Inter!

This is an old rumour but it is probably worth noting that Kondogbia is far from easy to deal and seems to cause disruption with regularity - one I hope we steer clear of.

Eds it seems very quiete on the GENUINE transfer news re left back lcb and left winger- in my opinion the position s we really need to add to. Ilori gone sakho goingso cb quality needed along side matip. milner doing well at lb but would be available for midfield if a lb signed. And we've seen the impact mane has made someone on the left side with similar impact would be great news. Any eds have anything? Or do you really think no signings in January? Thanks for all you do.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Why would Liverpool buy a centreback to replace two who were not in the first team squad Stevie? I remain of the opinion that if the right player were available at the right price something can be done - but I am sure the club will not look to knee jerk purchases and I am sure Klopp realises that it is not the time to rock the boat and disrupt a team doing pretty well.

As for left back - looking for a pre-contract with Sead Kolasinac is not out of the question as has been previously explained.}

New CB - Gomez. New LB - Juanma

Cheers ed. Re cb not just sakho and ilori leaving ed- in my opinion lovren and klavan not good enough and gomez inexperinced. I would go for someone - as said before- even short term eg fonte- that helpslto win the prem. Just my opinion. Thanks ed

Agree5 Disagree7

{Ed002's Note - So basically you have no time for any of the Liverpool centre backs except Matip. If Liverpool are to sell Gomez, Klaven or Lovren this month then it makes sense to get another centre back in.}

19 Jan 2017 14:49:13
C'mon ed002, now we have been named as the 9th richest club we can afford a few £80-90 million transfers, yeah? I'd say 9 new first team centre backs is a priority.

Agree0 Disagree7

19 Jan 2017 15:58:19
I didn't say gomez wasnt good enough. I don't rate lovren or klavan as good enough. As for sarcastic remarks- tristan- i Certainly wasnt suggesting aby great expendiure at cb as i said someone short term to help win the prem. It seems people aren't allowed an opinion! !

Agree6 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not the 9th richest club.}

19 Jan 2017 19:31:31
The opinion on lovren / klavan is fine but your logic around recruiting isnt.
Lovren and klavan are doing a decent enough job for us. As it stands, we would only bring in a CB if we were selling one. So if that is the case, can we even do that sort of business in January that would bring about the definite succeed you crave? Cos any transfer like that would have to deliver the title this season otherwise it is a failure and a monumentus waste of time and money

9th in the list of turn over for the year.
Are we carrying much debt now Ed?
I suppose the new stand and Brendan Rodgers still
have to be paid for.

Are we financially in good shape compared with the other top 6 prem clubs?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You cannot equate the two. Turnover for one year in 9th place does not make anyone the 9th richest. Liverpool are in good shape but have significant debts to address. If the current ownership were to look to Phase 2 of the stadium they would be stupid (quite honestly). In the big scheme of things the increased media money is a massive plus and Liverpool are in decent shape.}

19 Jan 2017 20:33:37
Really! Definate success? I didn't say it would definetly give us the title. I said i help it! As i said my opinion.

Financially, why can't we be as shrewd as Chelsea to sell players we don't want at premium price to China?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - The player's aren't good enough, or maybe high profile enough, to attract those kind of bids.}

20 Jan 2017 11:26:12
Ed's right, we're not the 9th richest. According to Forbes, we're 8th.

20 Jan 2017 14:15:10
Leekuanyew, it's really not as simple as that. I'm sure they would give us oodles of cash for our top players, but who would you sell? There's nobody I'd want to lose from the current 1st team.
Sakho perhaps? A cool 20 mil for him would be nice, but I don't think he fancies China just yet.
Sure, certain players like Lovren or Moreno could be replaced with upgrades if somebody paid us over the odds for them, but I don't see that happening either. It's a certain profile of player that they want in China, but we don't have mercenaries like Oscar, Witsel, Hulk or Tevez for example. Perhaps only Sturridge would make any sense, and sure enough, if we got a whopper offer, I'd sell.
