Saw this on the Financial Times website

"Mr Hicks is heading for a showdown with the Liverpool board, which in June rejected a refinancing proposal from American co-owner George Gillett and took legal advice before doing so"

If they can block Gillett why can't they block Hicks?

If this is true about the yank tool gaining total control or reportedly. then im not going to watch liverpool again .im a season ticket holder and i go away games also avent missed a european game home or away for last 10 years.ive spent alot of money following he team i love.but this can't go on any longer them two are bleeding us dry and we need them out. BOYCOTT what i say. on a more possitive note just got back from game and i thought the second half we showed something like what we should be playin like.just a few stupid errors cost us big.

{Editor's Note: So you say "boycott" and and you go to the match?}

There is a middle East Consortium that are looking to buy out Liverpool for around 380mil. They do not however want Roy Hodgson in charge at the club, neither do they want who the papers are saying today - Martin O'Neill. Instead they want Manuel Pelligrini who is currently out of work.

The consortium will take over by November but will not sack Hodgson until the summer. They will give him a chance but if he doesn't get Champions League football, Pelligrini will be brought in.

Hodgson in January will look to sign Keisuke Honda, Ashley Young, Mario Gomez and Lee Chung Yong (a total of around 60mil)

Babel will be let go of.

"FEBRUARY REVOLUTION {ed's note - I stopped buying kits etc a few years back, and I will not buy any until the club changes hands. I agree totally that they have to be hit in the pocket if they are to be forced out. Let's face it, if the club itself was not making a profit, they wouldn't be fighting so hard to keep hold of it, they would want rid and to cut their losses.}"

Events have proved that the boycott is stupid. If the club were doing better financially it would be easier to sell. {Editor's comment: How would it? If there was more money in it the selling price would go up,making it more expensive to buy.}

Disappointed with Hodgson's pre match interview, seemingly in total awe of ManUtd and Fergie. Poor for a Liverpool Manager on match day.

Yet again, Stevie Gerrard was the one who made the score resonable, until MUTD third goal. Before then the lethagy and lack of confidence was reminiscent of the final days of the Houllier regime in 2003/ 04.

Ed what do you think about this lineup after our performance today and against steaua

reina
kelly wilson agger konchesky
gerrard meireles
amoo cole pacheco
suso

time to get rid of carra, skrtel and johnson. All huge liabilities in our defence. Younger blood is needed and in comes kelly, agger and wilson. Our flanks are pathetic so let's introduce amoo and pacheco, they're both hungry and pacey, which is what we need now. Torres has been pathetic so let's give suso a try and see how he does {Editor's comment...Been talking with the Ed in Chief and he has similar concerns about Skittle and Carra...}

It's simple steps. 18th here were are! !

Sorry ex about the lay out sent from mobile web

I request that the editor/ s of this site fully explain to me why me post wasn't published.Me post continued no abuse whatsoever;if it did it certainly wasn't worse than what I normally read in here.I wouldn't want to second-guess you, ed, or assume anything.All me wants really is an explanation.

By the way, I still stand by the gist of that post:if Hicks does refinance (God forbid), I see no any other way but recourse to total boycott.Without a doubt, that will, as you say, damage the clube in the short term, but we don't exist for the short term, now do we?

FEBRUARY REVOLUTION

Ed , what is the foolish american trying to do. He is only in this deal for monry. It is crystal clear. He wants to ove throw his be loved american partner. These to moron are playing a game. But I am confident our 3 board person in conjunction with rbs will take full control of the club. These to fools will leave with nothing

Nigel {ed's note - I don't believe any of this story to be honest. If Hicks wanted to buy the club, none of this sales process would have started in the first place. The reason it has come to this is because he was unable to raise the money to buy out Gillett.}

Ed, do you think Hicks will win the battle as Liverpool are looking close to lose the battle for new ownership. . Or is there a saviour for us? {ed's note - I would be very surprised if Hicks won, I don't think he has any intention of winning, just of getting more money when he sells.}

I don't know about you ed, but for me a total boycott would be our only recourse should the skunk Hicks manage to refinance.Yes the team will sort of implode for that time, but in the long run it will bear fruit.
We keep on harping on about how RBS should "force them skunks hand", but how about we be the ones to force hands here?Afterall, without us, without our money, these c* ts are f*ck ALL aren't they?

Mates, the power's in OUR hands here.So how about some radical action, huh?FFS!Great changes (for the better) only occur when the ordinary men and women, the downtrodden, the men on the totem pole etc, decide to STAND UP, UNITE, GO OUT AND FIGHT A GUD FIGHT FOR A GOOD CAUSE.In the process, yes there will be collateral damage, yes there will be upheavals. .but in the end we'd have achieved our goal (in this case, exterminating the cancer Hicks.
What do you think ed?I mean surely, if he skunk manages to refinance we screwed, wouldn't you say?

FEBRUARY REVOLUTION {ed's note - I stopped buying kits etc a few years back, and I will not buy any until the club changes hands. I agree totally that they have to be hit in the pocket if they are to be forced out. Should the fans raise money by selling their own hats + and shirts like manu. . To show hicks they want them out.

Any money raise could be used to buy back the club.

Hello Chaps,
Some may remember my posts on the sale of the club from a month or 2 ago. Anyway, here's an update of what has been happening.
Kenny Huang left the sale process once it became clear that Tom Hicks wanted an unrealistic 300 million sterling for his share of the club. When Martin Broughton was first questioned about the sale process he stated it would be desirable for the sale to be concluded before the end of August; that there was no set price and the owners could not stop the sale process. These 3 pieces of information, put out by the man in charge of the sale process, proved to be misleading which resulted in Huang pulling the plug on negotiations.
Since pulling out, Huang has been sitting tight waiting for the RBS deadline to pass which is 11th October, NOT the 6th as is being reported. If Tom Hicks does get refinancing and pay off George Gillett's debt before 11th October then the board personel will change dramatically and all bets are off.
Kenny Huang has one more option, but it relies on George Gillett refusing to sell to Tom Hicks. I believe Gillett would sell to Hicks but he wants assurances about investment in the squad and infrastructure of the club which will not be forthcoming.
If Gillett defaults on his loan then his shares will effectively be transferred to the loan company. Huang is waiting for this outcome and will immediately offer an excellent price to the loan company for Gillett's shareholding.
This would give Huang equal shareholding with Tom Hicks and would allow Huang to prevent Hicks from further refinancing deals effectively forcing Hicks out as he can't afford not to refinance.

There are other parties reportedly interested in the fate of Gillett's shares, we just have to hope that Hicks doesn't persuade Gillett to sell to him. Personally, I think it's 50:50 at the moment.

EH

I thought from posts on this site in the past month (after Huang initially pulled out of the bidding process) that we should see Huang as bit dubious and not what he said he was. A Sportingintelligence post on this site on 25th August at 12.25.56 should be read by all Liverpool football fans (go to Liverpool Rumours archives). It makes many interesting allegations against Huang.

{Editor's Note: Huang was not a credible buyer - this poster is obviously of the opion that he is and is entitled to his opinion.}

I think people may be panicking here too early. Hick's sons reinstatement depends upon "plans by his father to tighten his grip on Liverpool by raising loans to refinance the club's current debts" and " Hicks Sr was in London this week for discussions with GSO, an arm of private equity firm Blackstone". Neither are given and depend on Hicks securing investment which I BELIEVE will be extremely difficult for him.

Investors look not only at the opportunity but also the mangement team and their track record. Hicks has not covered himself with glory there in the USA or UK has he. Does he look like a honeypot to you?

Prediction. . the Blackstone story will evaportae and we will come donw to the deadline whereupon the mysterious parties interested will come out of the woodwork and make a bid for the club at a realistic price.

Hicks is desperate but will be forced to let go!

THERE IS A LOT OF GRANDSTANDING TAKING PLACE. THIS IS ALL ABOUT DESPERATION AND HICKS WANTING A HEALTHIER PROFIT FROM THE SALE. H&G WILL BOTH GO. THE MYSTERIOUS BIDDERS THAT ARE UNKNOWN TO US AND THE MEDIA WILL SOON COME OUT OF THE WOODWORK AND BECOME THE NEW CUSTODIANS OF THIS TRUELY ADMIRED AND GREAT CLUB.

I am sure Hicks is just starting a rumour he has 17 days to make a profit on the club before it gets taken over by RBS - he is just clutching at straws and trying to push a buyer to come in for us before deadline day! !

I'm a true Liverpool supporter & I will always support the Reds no matter what. Any true football fan would never want to see the demise of Liverpool FC or any other club, . I may hate Man U but I would never want to see them declared bankrupt & forced to sell players etc that's not sportsmanship, my heart went out to the Pompey fans when there club was deducted points & relegated. I hope to see leeds Utd again in the top flight, there fans did not desert them in there times of troubles.

I think a buyer wil come along eventually, I was in Singapore last year working & Liverpool are there No. 1 team in the EPL; Liverpool are still popular worldwide.

Big game today against are No. 1 foe
I hope Roy picks Raul from the off in midfield with Stevie & Lucas. We have some good youngsters coming through & some new faces, I hope Pacheco gets a chance today & Babel continues to improve under Roy. Torres just needs to be fully fit & the goals will come, kets hope its today

Kopites keep the faith

Lfc need to make some sort of statement on the sale process, as fans all over are getting worried and will believe the media.

If fans believe the media and boycott games, lfc will suffer greatly financialy.

The media is exagerating stories.

I just can't believe how secret this process is.

Based on how deep in the s* t Hicks and Gillettes finances are, I would have thought no self respecting bank would lend them any money - unless the interest payments are ridiculously high. Hopefully this is just a tactic being used by Hicks to try and get an interested buyer out into the open.

Don't panic the speculation around hicks refinancing the debt is more press speculation, one week we are linked with takeovers from the middle east china shady arms dealers the next week it's hicks refinancing it's just pure press speculation cos know one outside a certain few know what is actually happening. Between now and the 6th we will here more bull on a daily basis am afraid we will av to get used to that. And out of all this remember the press in recent years have come accustomed to slagging off the reds it's as though they have a vendetta as to watching our great club been ripped apart whilst they sit back and publish bulls* t after bulls* t to sell papers.

Don't panic fellow reds

I wonder if Carroll got that goal today would he of been the player Roy was watching, typical rubbish.

Not really a rumour more an observation. With the notw revelation that hicks wants to refinance which isn't a revelation we all knew he would try and keep hold of our club if he didn't get the price he wanted i think we need to calm down i can't see the board letting this happen as for players leaving doesn't make sense the club will lose value if torres goes and i can't see pepe going any time soon think its just a case of wait and see and lets concentrate on thumping manure

Made up to see Lucas score. Raul looks safe, and up for it. Konchesky too, seems to be his usual reliable self, but now beaming with the confidence of being 'wanted'.
Im shocked Ngog has done anything, Ive never seen him as anything other than a waiter, but Im glad to be proven wrong, again he looks confident. . and the fans singing Maxi's name. .whodathunkit?
Stevie who?
Nando whats-his-name?

Poulsen on the other hand. Disaster. Hope he likes sitting on benches.

"Hodgson watching Hatem Ben Arfa Today. True Story"

Considering the game was at Goodison (local) I think Roy fancied a day out. If the game was at st. james's park then I would have questioned it as we don't play Everton for another month and Newcastle later in October. Great goal by Ben Arfa though. He seems like good value.

Man Utd v Liverpool (Saturday 12.45pm)

if Liverpool don't win, it's over for another year and - might be of interest is to see which team blinks first. Even though Liverpool need three points, they only really know one way to play away from home, and even if they do win tomorrow it's unlikely that they'll change the fact that their only winning margin at Old Trafford since 1990 has been 1-0.

Joe Cole will inspire Liverpool

ED this delay in takeover means we will defo lose Torres and Riena. If Hicks stalls and gets a 2 year extension I fear we will drop like a stone.

Very very very worried fan

{Editor's Note: A two year extension does not mean it will take two more years to sell the club. Losing players like Torres is guesswork - will he only stay if a sugar daddy comes in and spends a £100M. Why is he holding the club to ransom. He needs to get his head in order and start performing better otherwise he will likely lose his place in any case.}

Thats it ED Hicks is gonna put LFC in the grave! More debt than Utd we will be unsalvagable.

Moores and Parry delivered us into these sewer rats really what is Hicks thinking we are gonna go down like Leeds and be worth piss all! !

{Editor's Note: Let's just wait and see what happens. It was clear that if a buyer could not be found that refinancing is the next option. Let's hope that it is just buying time until new owners can be found. Then we can start trashing them instead!}

Well for me id be happier if a owner came in and gave hodgson 50-60mill in the first window and told him he could also spend what he raises from sales and is willing to sort the issue wiv the stadium out, just think whoever takes control of our club will need to have a lot of cash as its looking like it will cost about 400mill and then 350mill for stadium and then 50-60mill on players and at least 20 mill every jan window for at least 3 yrs and 35 mill every summer but i no this sounds excessive but you all need to remember that alot of our team aint up to scratch and gerrard, soto, carra, aurellio, torres are either gettin old or are injury prone we need some good players without massive egos and not massive salaries for me
INS
gary cahill ashley young, van der veil, sanchez, santon, and llorente, bent, out the two strikers i would prefer bent as already proven in prem but llorente would also be welcome id even bring him to the club myself
