Hey ed since you know a lot about are club can you tell us who is signing? cause off your sources mate cause i read a lot of junk so can u please tell us which are going to happen which are likely. thanks

{Editor's Note: I have given you the probably signing of Sylvain Marveaux already - so I guess that is one to me. I would like to say Honda as a signing, but I have a feeling that there maybe moves afoot from another EPL side for his signature and a couple of European sides. A striker seems to be on the cards: perhaps Hoarau, perhaps Gervinho, perhaps someone else.}

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Its only been 1 full day and people are already asking who we have signed. You must get that so many times a day. I got an idea. Why don't you create a page listing all transfers completed and rumors you've heard. So you don't get asked every 2 minutes.

To the people asking about who we've signed, why don't you ask in 2 weeks time, things will be clearer then.

{Editor's Note: A decent thought but the issue appears to be laziness in reading anything other than a response to their own message.}

"Rangnick is an anglophile who when studying English, which he wanted to teach, spent a year at Sussex University. He lived in Lewes and played for Southwick in the Sussex County League. 'I was a defensive midfielder. My first game was Chichester away. I was one-on-one with the goalkeeper and was sure it was a goal. But a tackle from behind put me in hospital for four weeks. I had broken three ribs and perforated a lung. It was a serious injury, what might happen in a car accident. But it was normal - what we called the English physical game!'"

Oh my word! Probably the one and only time the 2 clubs I follow are somehow linked (Liverpool - Southwick (currently mid-table Sussex County League Div 2 - if you want an obscure minor team to follow!) Made my day this has.

Ed I know a lot of people are linked at this time of year but surely wright-philips would be scrapping the bottom of the barrel. He isn't good enough chelsea proved that. Do you believe there is any truth in this? ?

{Editor's Note: I hope not; but stranger things have happened.}

Well i'm going to concentrate on one player today who showed how much we have actually missed him.
A footballing playing centre half. Daniel Agger. It is remarkable the difference it makes. We can control the tempo and build pressure far more, especially at home.

Agger wants to play football, he can certainly defend better at times, but he will refuse to hoof the ball if he can help it and there lies the advantage, because rather than fighting for the second ball which has been ballooned upfront by one of our centre halves, Agger gets the ball and plays feet, he doesn't give the ball away and keeps us in possession, thereby keeping the tempo and the pressure on.

Srtkel is an awful player of the ball. I cringe when he forgets he can't play with the ball and tries to. When partnered with either Carragher or Kygiakos it doesn't work. Agger with either Carra or Strkel will work every time. Carra/ Strkel can defend and have another outlet to play the ball in Agger. Kygiakos cannot work well with anyone. He is simply substandard at any club in this league.

And as for the post who criticised Michel Bastos at Lyon. He is, without doubt THE best left back in World football at this current moment in time. He has the lot for that position.

Finally i enjoy the knee jerk reactions from Wednesday to tonight's posts. We have some posters actually feeling sorry for Hodgson all because we have won with an acceptable second half performance i will admit.

I think we all need to find the middle ground for both sets of results. When we win, we are NOT within touching distance of top 4 (with a good run. . etc.) and when we lose (especially away from home, which we will do time and time again until the end of the season, probably in the next game btw) lets us not blow hopping mad about Roy getting out of the club.

So with that in mind lets get Roy out and Rafa back :) Half joking. . :) No decent manager is going to join us with Comolli pulling the strings and that is a fact.

Bob the Red

{Editor's Note: Your observation that "no decent manager is going to join us with Comolli pulling the strings" is very shrewd and very close to the real reason for the problems that Damien Comolli had at St Etienne. Comolli demanded complete control over transfers at St Etienne. Comolli was given this power but the club did not realise he would take matters literally, with their being no discussion at all with the coaching staff over some of the recruits. Alain Perrin actually complained that had not even met some of the players Comolli bought in. Pretty soon it was decided that this was not working and his powers were cut right back. Bernard Caiazzo has made it clear (to pretty much anyone who will listen to him) that they are more than happy that Comolli has made the move to Liverpool. I share these reservations over Comolli, but appreciate that Liverpool have not been dumb enough to hand him the superpowers he so desires.}

Hi Ed I heard today sturige at Chelsea wants to go on loan to Liverpool in jan to get some regular football so do you know if there is any truth in that Ed

{Editor's Note: Chelsea will make him available for a loan only if a replacement can be found. Note that they are also going to lose another young striker in Fabio Borini, so cover is essential.}

Hi eds, just wondering if you know much about Hourau? How good is he and what kind of striker is he? I've seen bits and pieces of him (albeit not much), and just don't know if he is much of an improvement on Ngog!

Cheers,

Dublin Red.

{Editor's Note: Hoarau is achieving more this season than he has done before. He is a big guy and stong and would make a good squad player.}

Hi Ed - please post on rumour board and not banter board

Ralf Rangnick could very well be the man NESV appoint as Liverpool Manager. Below is an interview nearly 2 years ago when asked about his success and style. Seems to clearly fit NESV's style of manager.

Asked to explain the club's performance, Rangnick laughs modestly and names four key areas: the primacy of young players, a long-term vision, an emphasis on man-management and his role as the sole leader of the club.

"Leading the team emotionally is key, rather than just giving commandments. I've been with Arsenal twice - two-and-a-half and four years ago - in their pre-season training camp in Austria. There you could see Arsène. Of course he's the boss. But there are staff around who give his players the chance to develop."

"Finally, it's a different system here than in England where, in the big clubs at least, the manager is strong. In Germany you have the head coach, but also at least two other strong figures. It is only us and maybe Wolfsburg, with Felix Magath, who have the manager system."

Rangnick is an anglophile who when studying English, which he wanted to teach, spent a year at Sussex University. But it was normal - what we called the English physical game!'

We're allowed to make contact with players who have 6 months on their contract who are playing in a different league. Why don't we try to sign a pre contract for taiwo. It's unlikely he'll join but if we do leave it for a couple of months then a team that can offer cl football will get him.
I think if we are going to get good players, we need to get them quickly and quietly so teams who can offer cl football don't get the player. I am worried that the group of people who choose transfers are rather slow in their decision making. They've been looking for players for couple months and they have yet to make a decision on Honda.
Ed you think this could have a big effect on transfer in the future?

{Editor's Note: I think you perhaps see this as a new ruling, it is not. The club like many others will have been working to find players who may be available at the right price now if their contract is running (e.g. Marveaux this season) down or on a pre-contract agreement for the summer (e.g. Jovanovic last season). As for Taiwo, he is regretting not agreeing to a new contract when it was offered and it looks like he will be moving within mainland Europe (Fiorentina, Borussia Dortmund
or AC Milan have all declared a firm interest). It seems that the player would not be interested in moving to England, where a couple of clubs have previously attempted to interest the player in a move. I had expected him to stay at Marseille, and something may still get resolved.}

BOLLOX, It would cost more than that for SWP to get the honour of wearing the beautiful red shirt, I'd charge them 20 ill.

How much would hoarau cost ?
his contract is up in the summer of 2013
scored 6 goals from 18 this season
ide value him at 12mil what would you say ed ? {ed's note - no idea, I really don't know anything about him other than Comolli liking him.}

()()

01 Jan 2011 21:58:59
{ed's note - it is more about him not being wanted.}

ed, I have got to dissagree with you there, as rumour has it on the wirral is that Johnson is learning Italian, and is being helped to learn spanish with Torres, Reina, and other spanish LFC players, and if i'm being honest, if he wants to go, which this suggests, let him go, with kelly chomping at the bit to get the LFC RB place - What liverpool need atm is players who want to wear that shirt, not players who want to leave, if he wanted to stay at liverpool he would be learning scouse, not spanish.

Johnson to leave Jan/ summer.

Hi ed does damien comill have the authority to place bids because if he dosent i can't see roy been sacked during this month and have you heard anything on the winger rumors? {ed's note - I don't get your question, what do you mean by authority to place bids?}

I mean if hodgson was fired and we didn't get a replacment would he be able to buy and sell player or would he not be able to? {ed's note - he can pretty much do that while Hodgson is here. You don't think Roy or Kenny chose Marveaux do you?}yes but could he place bids or do only managers get to place bids? thanks {ed's note - managers very rarely place bids, those days have long gone. These days clubs use CEOs or chairmen to do the negotiations as a rule.}

one more question is Marveaux a first team player? {ed's note - I have never seen him play, but he is 24 years old so he had better be or we are wasting our time signing him.}

{Editor's Note: I have felt like this all along - and I am certain that you will find absolutely nothing to refute that. Anything I have posted about how Liverpool will do this season has been positive.}

I am not questioning your posts have always been optimistic , I cannot remember a single post from you to contradict that; But I thought you kept your worries to yourself, or away from this site.

It surprises me you don't have any concerns about the future of the club like many I feel we are in a very dangerous period. I think if we do not qualify for Europe many of our top players will leave, and would take us many years to build again, worst still I do feel the current ownership won't spend the huge amount of money needed to rebuild , and under the pretence of "build from within" we may end up being a mid table club until it becomes the norm, and getting to a domestic semi final would become an achievement.

Roy

{Editor's Note: I don't hide any concerns at all - everything will be fine. Try not to worry so much.}

From what I can tell so far we're looking at signing 3- 4 of the following players in this window:

Left Wing - Sylvain Marveaux
Att Midfield - Keisuke Honda / Gervinho
Def Mid - Yann M'Villa
Striker - Van Wolfswinkel / Sturridge / Hoarao
Center Back- Shawcross / Cahill / Mamadu Sakho

If we can stay clear of Shawcross (ex Manc) I'd be very happy with any combination of the above as a starting point, sadly the likes of Lukaku, Hazard, Dzeko are all unrealstic with no champions league football

01 Jan 2011 17:31:12 What was the info for watching the match in Google Chrome - I have looked for the post but cannot find it

The instructions are: - For those footie fans amongst you - use Google Chrome as your web browser and install a Google Chrome extension called Chrome Live Football. This automatically hunts down live streams from the internet. Once you have Google Chrome in the top right you'll see a spanner click on that, then tools, then extensions. At the bottom of the page you will then see 'Get More Extensions' click on that. Then in the search bar type Chrome Live Football. Install from there. AS small football will then appear next to the spanner. Click on that and set it to GMT +0. You are then in business.

My uncle is a football agent for many London based players mostly lower leagues and championship players.however he does stand for several premiership players all but one who are english. he was over for dinner yestreday and he said that carlton cole was a possibilty and lpool enquired into further negotiations. liverpool board would not allow negotiations to advance with such a player and can safely say he won't be joining.how does he know this? he works alongside coles agent.
also he said conor wickham is likely at the end of the season and lpool are trying to lower the price to between 3-4 million pounds.

what do u think of the news?

DT {ed's note - I think you must be referring to a different editor, I certainly never said anything about Mourinho.}

Well yeah ed, I'm sure this guy was referring to a different editor. It'll be to whichever one made the comment, so how about that ed replying?? Not you. We don't know who's 'shift' it is to edit do we!?!?
How do you reply/ make a comment to An Ed then? You could always get the wrong one & get a nothing answer like the above.

{Editor's Note: I had nothing to say on the matter either - and there is no way to reply to a specific Editor. If a matter does need the attention of one Ed in particular it will be left for him or her to deal with. The article you refer to is a blog containing hearsay. I can imagine Mourinho joking about taking the job at Liverpool - he has a really great sense of humour. He won't be joining the club as a coach anytime soon though.}

{Editor's Note: I would expect the deal to go ahead shortly - I would guess it may be subject to the completion of a medical and paperwork. He will then be eligible to play once his registration is transferred and processed by the English FA. He has an injury which has kept him out for a few weeks but he was due back in training around now.}

Heard rumours that Liverpool are interested in signing Elia Eljero from Hamburg who is a quality player. and it's been reported that Hamburg want to sign Milan Jovanovich. couldn't this be easily rectified with a player swap?

milan for Elia?

do u think it's possible E.D.

LFC'S MANGO

{Editor's Note: It would need to be a player plus cash. Elia is a fine player, but I am not sure that Liverpool have an interest with Marveaux almost certainly arriving. Additionally, he will have other options - particularly in Italy - and these will need to be considered.}

Ed Roy was given the Bolton game to save his job and Joe Cole just did that for him. Do you think his jobs is still safe? I read this morning that replacements are being drafted.

Andrew Max Ogwok
Lira - Uganda

{Editor's Note: He will lose almost certainly his job - the question is when. All the nonsense yesterday about some "Times" article saying that news would break after the game today and naming new manager options is just the regular trash that many of the gullible fans believe and fall for. I have said from the start that I expect him to see the season out and the owners to take the time to find the right person to replace him. I'll stand by that.}

Yann M'Vila
personally i aint seen him play, but ive heard big things about him. The owners have said they want young talent he fits the bill would he fit in the midfield with gerrard though ?

{Editor's Note: He would fit and Liverpool need a squad of players not just a team of 11. The issue is whether or not there is any interest; and if there is, then the price.}

I think in the previous line it says "we, ve already said. . so long"

We said that on the day of his announcement. . .

Why was he ever appointed in the first place?, the job is way out of his league. . and if he sit's there one more time when a goal goes in against us with his hand wrapped round his face like a little lad lost on his first day at big school i will personnally seek him out and waste him. . . for f* s sake show some passion, warm a sub up, gee the crowd up. . don't just sit there with FAT SAM who is as s* te as you in terms of management and think "we can't concede another". .think. I think King Kenny is coming in as an interim manager. I am not a scout nor a source but read his appeal on www.liverpoolfc.tv where he asks to stick together. Then watched RH so frustrated in the game for the first time.And we don't have a manager with the profile to manage our great club, so putting the 3 together, hoping miracle happens and the king comes in 2011 to manage

Before I post I just want to say I'm a United fans, but don't judge me on that.

This window Pool will try to sign Elijero Elia (Netherlands) of Hamburg - as most of you know. But the price will be around the £15m mark. And yes I know you have new owners but to raise the funds you may have to sell one or two players in the form of Babel and Poulsen, or Babel will be included in the deal.

LFC will go for a CM. Ever Banega (Argrntina) of Valencia is the one they want but this may not happen as Valencia are trying to build on the team they have after sales of Villa and Silva. If they fail with Banega they will go for Javi Martinez (Spain) and Atletic Club Bilbao, which will cost a substantial amount more as he has a £20m release clause in contract.

They will also go for a LB. The main target is Cissoko (France) of Lyon which could cost £7-10m. Funds will have to be raised and not all will be moved for in January but in the Summer.

Ed i hate to say it but your wrong when you said about jose not making the comments about previous owners and money ?

The Inter Milan boss is very interested in the chance to replace Rafa Benitez this summer.
But Mourinho has no intention of joining a club with a divided boardroom under the American co-owners.
Mourinho has told associates the prospect of reviving the Merseysiders does appeal, but he would need to be sure he would have the resources to succeed.

Yeah I agree here. I don't think we need a defensive midfielder. We need more goals from midfieler, not less. Also 15 million seems a little expensive. Would rather have Benega or Defour. Benega my preferred choice.

Do you know if there has been any movement on the maerveaux or horauo deals, has anything been signed yet.
Also does anyone know if any of these two or other player who we might sign are going to be present at the game today.
I persume that maerveaux ill be there, maybe to either confirm the deal if we win or play well(unlikely)
Thanks! {ed's note - players can't be registered today because the FA's offices are shut until after the weekend, I believe. So there will be no movement until they are open and deals can be done and registered.}So that is why there is much talk on the big MONDAY announcement?
So it is likely that could be maerveaux then.
Has a fee been agreed for horau {ed's note - I think that is the reason, yes, though I thought Monday was a Bank Holiday? In which case the offices will be shut then too. I don't know if a fee has been agreed, the editor with the French football links is away at the moment and I haven't had a chance to speak to him. We are back in for M'Vila. .but for 15m! I think he is a gud player but we shouldnt be looking to spend that much on a position we are reasonably strong in (meireles, lucas, gerrard, shelvey, spearing), plus if we wanted a player in his position banega is far far better. Hopefully we will start luking at Honda, a striker and another winger (considering we spent 1.5m on marveaux)

Ins:
Marveaux 1.5m
Honda 12m
Hulk 16m
Another winger?

Hodgson is set to sack sammy lee to take some of the heat of himself, in my mind this could be a good move as lee is part of the problem, we have been playing crap football ever since he arrived.

Roy hodgson is stepping down american owners don't want him he is not the right man he wasnt the right man in the first place sammy lee will take control untill they find someone it won't be kenny like most of you think he tried to apologise to the fans he already was doomed when he accused the fans of not supporting the team yeah a team that lose to the bottom club at home not good enough bye bye roy

Sammy Lee is not the answer - he is a big part of the problem. Our football has gone down hill since he re-joined from a woeful Bolton, who we are beginning to look like.

Ed's note
you saying that he would of went if it was not for the bolton game. don't you think they should of sacked him anyhow. and brought someone else in. and do you think he will be sacked after the bolton game {ed's note - I think he needs a good performance to save his job now, but then he was only ever here till the summer anyway. I think they should have sacked him after the derby match, his comments following that defeat were disgraceful and embarrassing.}

Yann M'Vila could be joining from Rennes with us beating Real to sign him.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .
This was an old story attributed to comments he supposedly made to the "sun" >
However, there had been speculation that Real Madrid would look to pre-empt a move to any other club by making a bid for Mvila and were said to be in touch with his agent.

Now, Mvila himself has indicated that he would favour a move to the Premier League, with Anfield clearly the most likely destination.

According to The S*n, Mvila said, "I would like to play in a great league and the Premier League is sensational. English football would best fit my style of play." Honestly who in their right mind would choose us over RMadrid in the current situation. Not to say players won't sign for us but given the above choice? ? JIm22

I know its hard for you to believe what I say when I say this, as I often read people saying stuff they write is from 'very good source', however I have been told by a very good source this (I know its not all about Lfc but its to prove what I know is facts and my source is correct):

-McLaren will leave Wolfsburg next week, whether it be through resigning or being sacked and he'll get £1m

- Hodgson will be gone bye the latest 2-3 weeks.

-Frank Rijjkard and Martin O'neil are the two in the running to replace him.

I'm going to try and confirm the O'neil fact, as I know his nephew and I'm going to check with him asap.

equally if you are wrong you will lose all credibility, i really hope you are right though not so sure on the supposed signing of wolfswinkel though i personally believe we would be better with a player not injured and proven in the premier league but not carlton cole!

He's not telling the truth. This isn't going to happen he's telling lies and we will see that in due course.

As for him knowing the story hours before it was posted in the Mail, well if he did hear it before then he probably knows someone who was aware that this lie was being published. Proves nothing.

hope your right mate with honda and wolfswinkel but how come there has been no reports of liverpool agreeing a fee with them

The new owners are doing things the correct way and are keepin their cards close to their chests which means the media are not getting a sniff (which is why we are being linked with hundreds of unrealistic targets eg. Carlton Cole, Elmander, SWP) so that is why there is no reports. I would expect the stories to break soon mate!

Hi just got some information from a guy I know very well who is been known for having a good source. He said to me that Liverpool FC are buying Eljero Elia for an unknown fee. He also said that tommorow after the Bolton match either way if Liverpool win og lose Hodgson will get fired. And latest news was that Liverpool are trying to get Edin Dzeko, but are most likely outmanned by City's money. Sorry for having such bad English, i'm from Norway you see.

What do you think ed, do you think it's good news? {ed's note - I don't know, I am not a big fan of either player, but at least we are looking to make signings if you are right.}

so your saying weve signed honda and wolfswinkel

We have agreed fee's for both players mate, Honda will sign later on in January. Wolfswinkel early on 8-13th.

Red1974

For real mate? Cos i been following ricky ever since we were linked to him in the summer and i've been really impressed hes got a real eye for goal he reminds me of Andy Johnson in his prime or Jermaine defoe can create and finishes very well i don't care wether he is playing in the dutch league his goal scoring record is damn good he's going to be a star i know it in Holland they have high hopes for him.
As for Honda- No need to go on Top player top top player.
I know this is just rumours site but i really hope your right. Happy new year and happy transfer window.
top stuff guys!
