hi eds great site
i like the look of demba ba he is proven prem goal scorer and would do a good job at us also we could use carroll as part of the deal
ynwa p.s im only thirteen

Love is a wonderful thing at thirteen

13? I will cut you no slack.. He may be Prem proven.. but so were Downing, Enrique, Carroll and Hendo... Although he can score none the less.

He would not fit into our system

I wouldn't say hendo or Carroll were prem proven ! Enrique - debatable. Ba is a good striker and would score goals wherever he goes. The eds will always speak about this knee problem of his. Iv seen him get smashed week in week out and be on the wrong end of some bad tackles. So hos knee seems fine to me. He plays in almost every game so I don't understand every bodies worry especially the eds? And give the fact that it is documented that he has a bad knee would he be covered through insurance if he did break down? Ba would be score goals for us and create massive problems for defended - but that being said I think Rodgers will look for something different as ba isn't hos type of player. Red rom

He's also 27 and Carrol has more potential... we'll want proper cash for Carrol i.e 17million but good shout as I agree Ba proven in Premiership.

Will he suit in rodgers style i doubt it

He's certainly a great finisher.

At a reasonable price, I think he would be a good improvement to the squad.

Stop dirtying on Carroll. Ba is a money grabbing b*****d

You're 13, so that makes Demba Ba exactly 30 years older than you!

To be fair son you seem to have more of a clue than br at the moment

Just because hes 13 doesn't mean he doesn't no a thing or 2 about footie, i bet he speaks more sense then some adults on here!

I honestly dont think we need to buy a new left back,if enrique is sold.we have jack robinson who i think will be a very good player in time,we have Alex O'Hanlon who is very highly rated,another irish lad called ryan mclaughlin,also like the look of brad smith,who has unbelivable pace.

Exactly, and with Kelly, Wisdom and Flanagan on the other side and Johnson able to deputize right or left and Agger also able to fill in at left full, there seems to be no need to buy.

Mantis.

I agree with you on one condition... we accept these players are young and may make mistakes or have a bad game from time to time - if we accept that and that maybe we wont be challenging for premiership title for a couple of years (not saying thats a given just hypophetically) then i'm all in ;o)

Hoola

Last time i looked though, Mclaughlin and Brad Smith were right backs and o'hanlon a left winger.....

Brad Smith is a left back, but McLaughlin is a right back and O'Hanlon is a winger. Any left back we got would only be a stop gap until Robinson gets some more experience though

O'Hanlon started as a left back and has been moved forward due to his pace and goals scoring ability, but can def play lb

By yher time we keep waiting for all these players to develop we'll just go round in an never ending loop and get nowhere, while young players are developing older players are getting older.

We have just gone over board in all this young player thing and it will cost us many more years in the EPL wilderness.

G.Johnson should our 1st choice left back, with Robinson challenging him for the next 2-3 years. This would solve all LB problems.

1st choice right back should be the fantastic Martin Kelly, however if Johnson is made permanently a LB (where he plays so much better than RB in most people's opinions), then we need someone who can compete with Kelly and also be a 1st team RB starter too, as Kelly's quite injury prone for a young player.

Wisdom is just breaking through and not experienced to play for 6 months straight. Flanagan got a little burnt from his run in the side at RB, and it now looks like he's gonna find it difficult to get back in the team, and he's only 19... we cannot allow this to happen again to our younger players.

This is why Wisdom cannot be a 2nd choice starter now for a whole season. Flanno needs a loan now to build himself back up, this is sometimes the problem with putting young players out there a little too quickly.

So for the future we should have:

Right back:
Kelly
*NEW RB*
Wisdom/McLaughlin challenging

Left back:
Johnson
Robinson
Smith/O'Hanlon challenging

Enrique doesn't fit in with this, unless Johnson is still RB, but I hope he proves me wrong soon or else Brendan will be ruthless. He could also slow down the progress of our younger players, which I'm not a fan of. I can see Johnson being sold before he turns 30, which would make profit the owners want and we'd have readymade academy replacements.

I think Flanagan will play better as a midfielder personally, I know the coaching staff think he's better there, but that will take 2 years maybe. Everyone's forgot about him but with the right coaching he can provide great competition with Lucas I feel.

So overall we don't need a new left back, but could do with a new right back mid 20's with solid experience. It would also mean Kelly can play at CB with Agger/Skrtel/Coates if and when Carragher retires. RC

Agree some of these young lads look like there going to be top players,so lets slowly give one or two of them a chance at left back.

I remember I saw a match against Newcastle which we put Robinson (or Flanagan, I can't remember) up against Gutiérrez. The poor lad was virtually raped by Gutiérrez because of inexperience. So, I think an experienced back-up is needed.

Not really a rumour,more an observation.How about a return in January for former striker Djibril Cisse?He always loved the club and I can just imagine him up front with Suarez.He has still got pace,can finish and he isn't currently getting any games at Qpr.Most importantly of all he would be reasonably cheap and a short term option

01 Oct 2012 21:17:03
Ask yourself this.If Cisse isn't getting games for QPR [ though he is tonight ] why would we want to buy him? Also he's 31 and FSG aren't interested in players his age so I can't see them sanctioning a transfer fee.

The Plank

He is one of the worst strikers we've ever had.

Clearly you know nothing about football. I would rather play with 10 men than a striker who doesn't understand the offside rule .. And on that note mate, take a yellow card for that post..!

Awful finisher, worse than Crouch.

Oh right yeh not good enough for qpr reserves but ok for liverpool behave he was rubbish when he did play for us spent more time at the hairdressers than on the football [pitch then we can go the full hit n sign hadge diouf not

Was far to quick for his own good. His brain couldn't keep up with his feet. Was seemingly unable to make diagonal runs to evade offside and miost of his game was pointless and served no purpose. RED LENIN

I've always been a fan. Perhaps he isnt the best finisher, but he has scored goals at all levels and leagues, including the international stage. Is he right for Lpool? Probably not. However, its hard to deny, the man is fun to watch.

Ha ha he plays for qpr

I think you should look past the bad finishing of your strikers and put it down to lfc consistantly ruining consistant strikers morientes,crouch,cisse,kuyt,carroll even suarez to an extent

Question for the eds,

Rodgers was asked whether Sahin loan deal could be made permanent. He obviously sidestepped it saying it is too early to talk about it. any idea what a permanent move might cost? he was sold to Real for I think 8.8 Million pounds. Transfer market has his value at around 15 million. Any idea what he might actually cost or whether the loan spells that out with an option? it would be a shame if they let him get away if a permanent move is at all an option.

YNWA {Ed002's Note - There is no option to buy. As I said before, there are those at RM - most notably Miguel Pardeza. Sahin had been angling for a move to AC Milan but they were apparently quoted an unrealistic price. It is far too early to say what may happen.}

Ed002 - "there are those at RM - most notably Miguel Pardeza." that what? What does Miguel Pardeza? {Ed002's Note - That wanted Sahin sold in the summer.}

01 Oct 2012 21:24:42
Players usually end up where they want to, if Sahin has a great season and Liverpool have a great season he will most likely sign perm because he will want to.

RM will tell us what they want us to pay and we would tell them what we think we should pay and some clever "Agenting" and "Lawyering" will make an agreement somewhere in the middle.

Real Madrid have given us in the region of £40M for 3 players so I would not begrudge us sending back £10-£15M if Sahin fulfills the potential he is showing.

It would be an incredible purchase if we talked him into staying permanently. He, Suarez, Allen, Lucas, Sterling, Gerrard. Our mid & forwards look strong now. One more goal poacher to hold us over until Borini matures and we could have a top 4 team.

01 Oct 2012 18:54:00
Rodgers has identified Domineco Criscito as our top target in January to replace Jose Enrique. He will cost in the region of £10-15million. It's not nailed on to happen, I just know he is a target and FSG are willing to fund a move.

Also, don't be surprised if we don't buy a striker in January. With the emergence of Sterling and Suso our attacking options have improved greatly and will be reviewed in the summer.

Any rumours surrounding Reina are rubbish. Rodgers likes him a lot, he'll stick by him.

Debbie G.

No Reina isn't rubbish. Give Robinson a chance instead

I think he'd be a great signing! Part of a few pieces to our missing jigsaw! :)

'Attacking options' may have improved, but we still need goals to be 'scored', not just chances 'created'.

Have you seen his wages? Not a chance I'm afraid. Not that good either.

I would expect Walcott to join in January, but expect Cole and Downing both to be sold first. There will be no more major business, possibly the odd fringe player will leave and maybe 1 or 2 youngsters.

Severance

Walcott? Yes. Cole may go but downing will be given till summer

I personally hope we get Walcott & Sturridge in Jan, as they can both play anywhere along the front.

BigD

Walcott, Cole and Downing all on the move in January? That's a touch unrealistic.

We only have 20 players over 21. What do you mean fringe players?

01 Oct 2012 16:30:20
Ed,01 if carroll (its a 1 yr loan deal but rumours are rodgers may push them to buy so that he can get his own players in) and downing is sold for 17 million and 9-10 million come january will we go for Damiao and dries mertens..cole is certain to leave which doesnt really make wages an issue ?
both players were heavily linked earlier so do u see us getting them ? {Ed002's Note - I don't know why you believe that they were "heavily linked", but I would doubt they will be arriving in January.}

17m for downing? give it a rest lad. {Ed001's Note - I think he was saying 17 for Carroll and 9-10 for Downing.}

Be a miracle if we get 9 million for downing

01 Oct 2012 18:05:23
get off the glue lad,we ll be lucky to get 5 mill for downing

Have to say that we will not get 17 for Carrol at this time and ,even if we did get money it would be in installments due to West Hams financial situation .As for Downing his value drops every time he plays .

However I do think there will be funds available and that we will get a striker .

kobi

17million, for Downing you must be joking we will be lucky to get 6-8 million

Eds and reds!

Will you share an info?

Will the Anfield be extended or will we relocate?
Hope not

Thanks

Aneesh {Ed001's Note - every time this looks like being settled an obstacle is thrown in the way. The preference is redevelopment, the issue, of late, is a number of influential people, outside of the club, favouring a joint stadium with Everton. I fail to see the merit of that idea, they simply would not have any need of a stadium big enough for our needs. As things stand, I would still expect a way round the obstacles to end up with Anfield being redeveloped, even if only as a stop gap while a joint stadium is explored.}

We can then call the joint stadium 'The Sea of Mud'. Milanese weather may facilitate two teams using one pitch but the weather in North West England won't.

Hey Ed...i think your response is a tad arrogant stating Everton would not have a requirement for that size. It wouldn't matter if they only use half the stadium.

I think it's a great idea personally, by using clever lighting the stadium can be red or blue, this works perfectly well for AC and Inter Milan, Roma and Lazio, Bayern and 1860 Munich. So don't see why it would be any different for us....they have just as much rivalry and following

The shared cost would also mean more funds can be used to buy better players for both teams.

Sven {Ed001's Note - it is not arrogance, it is common sense, they can't fill Goodison. Why would they want to contribute towards a much larger stadium and have to pay half the costs involved? It makes absolutely no sense for them, they simply wouldn't gain anything by doing so. It does not work well in Italy, the teams there all spend their time trying to find funding for individual stadiums. So that is complete claptrap. It does not work in Germany either, because it doesn't happen. Bayern bought out 1860's share of the stadium because it was such a financial burden to the club that they were on the verge of collapse. Now 1860 are merely tenants, tenants that rely a lot on the goodwill of Bayern to be able to afford to use the stadium. Rather than telling me about stuff you don't actually know about, why don't you go and do some research and find out that you are quite simply wrong. How would Everton fund their half of an 80,000 seater stadium? Explain that to me. Any less would be pointless, so don't even try and go there, the costs would be hugely prohibitive for little return on the investment. Anything less only makes sense if it is a redeveloped Anfield.}

Ed001
You totally contradict yourself by saying a redeveloped Anfield as a stop gap while a joint stadium is explored. Then you say it would be pointless. If a joint Stadium is being looked at then there must be outside investment on its way to Everton. (lets hope not)

{Ed002's Note - Not related to the situation on Merseyside, but interesting to the discussion in any case: One area that has been explored, I won't say who by, has been a third party building a stadium then letting it to one or two tenants. Rather than sponsor naming and advertising etc. at a stadium for ten years, the third party would build the stadium and then rent it out to a club, perhaps even clubs. This provides a boost for the club as they would get immediate income from selling on their existing stadium and would not be liable for maintenance of the new stadium. They would still of course be liable for rent and for matchday costs (lighting, policing etc.).

Someone needs to learn to read what Ed001 wrote. Anything less that 80,000 would be pointless. i.e. if we can upgrade Anfield for £100m to take us up to 60k seats then why would we spend half of say £350m (so £175m) for a 60k or even 70k seat stadium so that Everton could perhaps afford to pay their half. That's pointless.

We need 60K or more seats now. If that costs £100m outlay and then we decide to share (hope not) with Everton in 5 years time in an 80k seater stadium at a cost of £350m then the cost to Liverpool would be £100m (on anfield redevelopment) plus £175m for the stadium. Total of £275m. That's still less that the £350m fo us to own the stadium outright. Also, we'd have the extra capacity a lot quicker and therefore we'd be able to generate revenue earlier slashing more off the actual cost.

If the decision is made not to share after this option is explored then at least we have our 60K seats at Anfield for £100m. Most of which may come from a sponsor.

I'm sorry but in this financial situation and ticket prices going through the roof (which will only get worse in my opinion) and with TV on demand via the internet we our not going to fill an 80 k stadium, not here in Liverpool, maybe in London.

TV {Ed001's Note - you clearly have no idea, or are a wum. There would be no issues selling 80k tickets.}

The whole situation is futile as neither Everton or Liverpool have two Fart's to rub together!! We might just be able to afford a marquee on Stanley Park! It is not going to happen in the next 10 years at least.

eds, is it true that lfc could be calling back carroll in the January window?? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

01 Oct 2012 12:41:54
Why would they call him back? You can start to see now by the way we are playing that there is no way he would fit into that system. RED LENIN
