What a load of pish some of you scousers talk! A few are morose and drowning your sorrows already. .some of you are talking things up and the others don't know whether the cup is half full or half empty. So what if Chelsea named a smaller registered group when LFC can only name 21 and two of them have never played for the club? The important point is to understand that other clubs have quality players, unlike Hodgson's Hopefulls. Roy is the perfect appointment for a mid table team. He is a safe pair of hands and maybe has the nous to make a silk purse from a sows ear. But because you lack confidence in him and the makeshift team of alleged delinquents, wannabe somewhere else's, wanna see new owners, enjoyed the helicopter trip to WHU and Lucas. .you're already praying that Shankly has been reincarnated and will find his way home. . And one of you suggested that his ethics are in question. FFS. .for anyone to suggest he'd regret the famous quote about football being more important than life or death if he'd been around for Hillsborough. . Huang your head in shame. What are you saying?. That those tragic fans and their families regret their loved ones supported Liverpool? That's as bad as saying I was proud my son joined the army, but now he's dead I wish he'd never been loyal and prepared to take his chances. Hey. .just blame it on someone else, avoid the reality and bury your head up Gerrard's backside. Too many people politicise and tribalise football. All Shankly meant was that communities are bound by their hopes, hard work and achievements. When you're in a team NOTHING is insurmountable. As he also said 'At a football club, there's a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don't come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques.' Where's the holy trinity now? Players wanting away or mouthing off about the owners, a stooge manager picking up the crap Rafa left behind and fans who have forgotten that it's club first and foremost. .no matter what.

Sorry to offend. .but it needed saying.

Glenbuck Boy

Your way of course Glenbuck you've taken what i've said about a delicate subject and misconscrued what i meant.

All i was trying to say is nothing is more important than "Life or Death" nothing.

Fill in the details for me

My brother told me board are at war(nothing new in that) but there are attempts to oust Broughton and Barcap and put sale in hands of others and also (as we all thought) Syrians are not real bidders just Yank ploy.

None of this is sourced just some details my brother mentioned and wanted to know if this is the case.

Not a rumour more of an observation really.

If a player 28 or older, and in the final 2 years of his contract buys out his contract, and provided he hasn't played for 3 different clubs in 1 calender year, then I believe he is free to sign for any club at any time even outside of the transfer window.

Maybe, just maybe we have a chance to bring someone in.

What do you think Ed ? {ed's note - any player out of contract can join another club outside the transfer window. There is a rule that states that a player must play a certain percentage of matches for his club or he can have his contract terminated. That has affected a lot of the thinking this season, teams were desperate to make sure they didn't have over 21s outside the 25 man squads.}

Heard RBS have frozen interest payments on the loan - cannot verify only rumours on lfc forums.

If true - it would mean a takeover is close.

{Editor's Note: And if not true?}

We r scratching around for a striker, look at the ones we let go - crouch, keane, bellamy, cisse, anelka! What would we do for 1 of them now?!

Fellow reds - don't get ur hopes up about jan unless we av new owners.

Still chance of a loan deal, what do u think ed?

{Editor's Note: I think it unlikely.}

Ed have you heard anything on the takeover ie. possible buyer's etc.? i'm glad roy didn't rush out and but carlton cole or be held to ransom by club's we have a decent squad although i'm puzzled by him letting aqua go, both kuyt and babel were bought as forward's but benitez put them on the wing's i would also have liked to give riera more game time as i think his confidence was destroyed by benitez!

{Editor's Note: There is nothing on the takeover right now.}

As anyone got a link to a rumour that RBS as frozen the interest on the debt. Can't find anything myself but it as been posted on some forums. If true we have either been re-financed or sold according to the financial whizz kids. I have searched but cannot find anything.

To the guy who wrote the following:-

[Another thing that gets me is the amout of people that blame Lucas for anything liverpool do wrong! Im not saying hes the best thing since sliced bread but the amount of stick that boy gets is wrong. Hes a liverpool player and we should get behind him and the team because as fans that's what were supposed to do! through think and thin! The team lose together and win together! So stop jumping on the band waggon for hating lucas and support the lad, which might inspire him to have more confidence on the pitch!]

I could not agree more with you, Lucas has been made a scape goat in everything that Liverpool has done wrong. Was it Lucas fault that Rafa sold Alonso and then proceeded to spend the best part of 20 million on an injured player. "NO"

To be honest I think he has improved and will continue to do so under Roy. The boy needs time to develop and develop he will maybe not in the next year but in time.

Yes his passing is not the best and his vision needs to improve but look where he was 3 years ago to now. The poor bloke is most possible scare to pass the ball forward, last year when he played further up field and had some confidence he destroyed Benfica in the Europa League so there is something there and maybe with Poulson and Mirilies coming in he will be allowed to express him self.

I love this club and do not want us dong a Leeds United, believe me the Manc's would just love us to fail. New owners New Era in Liverpool FC we must believe.

It is quite sad how this website has lost many people from 5pm yesterday on.

and can blair and sharkey and red paddy and ag stop arguing and post rumours

ed i think you should make a liverpool debate site, where people can correct other peoples rumours or mock them. how bout it ed?

ROUND ROBBEN

{Editor's Note: I don't think they are arguing - occasionally children bicker a little - that's all it is. It was bound to be quieter for a few days after the rush of yesterday - coupled with there being an international break peoples mids have probably moved to other matters for a day or two. No doubt we will be back on track as soon as there is news (or rumour) of the take over.}

To. . . . .
every player he bought he made a profit when they were sold on, maybe not robbie keane but we could mention some or fergusons. . . . .
wtf
One, read my post, clearly states that it was houliers squad AND ALONSO, who was recomended to rafa by pako! !
secondly what the feck has fergison got to do wit anythin?
and name 5 players rafa made a proffit on?
i'll give you 1 alonso.
he also sold a decent left back in warnock and never ever replaced him effectively, ?
and myrebuff was directed at another poster,

You are totally wrong. It would be harder to name 5 players he didn't make a profit on. Raffa's net spend is 0.

RED PADDY said at 01 Sep 2010 21:03:52:

"Sharkey - just a small note for the record - Blair Mayne is probably Irish (or Northern Irish to be more precise) - his name is that of the one of the founding members of the SAS, leading Irish boxer and rugby football player who died in a car accident in the early 1950's, a statue to his memory is in his home town in County Down - a place far removed from anything in the home counties!"

Please could you go back and read what I originally posted.

Not too many good things on view in reserve match against Wigan today. Mavinga looks strong, Pachecho always technically good, but nothing that excites me to make it through to the first team.

How the hell can Spurs sign VDV after the cut off. . . . . . . we want special dispensation also for a striker please.

{Editor's Note: It strikes me that it is the FA at fault rather than Spurs - or West Ham for that matter who have also had a late arrival. If the paperwork was not lodged at FA HQ in time then it should be a simple rejection unless there are exceptional circumstances. There was some feeble excuse about "server" problems at Spurs which were accepted by the FA - but in real terms the paperwork was simply not ready in time - if it were, and the server went down then a laptop or other means would have been used to send the package.}

There is some absolute numb nuts on this site! i can't believe the amount of bone idle people that think we will sign players like augero, adebayour, van de varrt, mario gomes, young, etc etc! This is not Football manager! we can't afford players like this at the moment. There wages are massive for these kinds of players.

Lets face some facts!

We are in HUGE debt. So bad infact, that by early october we have an bill for roughly 100m to RBS for the interest on the £400 and odd million debt we owe them. (Thats just to pay off the interest not the actual debt). This is why we have not gone stupid in the transfer market. the mascherano money has gone to help chip off some of this bill and not on players! This is exactly why players such as Lucas and babel were offered to west ham for cole and the same to spurs for pavlyuchenko! its because we have no cash availlable!
Has anyone wondered why so many squad players have gone on loan? this is to reduce the wage bill of players that are not going to feature much!

I don't care if it takes untill next summer to get a new owner/ owners either! If it means waiting longer to make sure we get the best person/ people to take us forward then so be it! Or would you want to have another laurel and hardy in charge of the club like at present?? or worse still end up like Leeds United a few years back and Pompey this year? i know what id rather have! !

Roy has done a great job of upping our quota of home grown players for the new 25 man squad rule. This has been done on a very tight budget! 8 million for 5 british players! This was an absolute must as we were well behind in this quota compared to alot of teams.

Another thing that gets me is the amout of people that blame Lucas for anything liverpool do wrong! Im not saying hes the best thing since sliced bread but the amount of stick that boy gets is wrong. Hes a liverpool player and we should get behind him and the team because as fans that's what were supposed to do! through think and thin! The team lose together and win together! So stop jumping on the band waggon for hating lucas and support the lad, which might inspire him to have more confidence on the pitch!

I don't know any players/ staff at the club, or pretend to know someone like a mates mate, dads girlfriends dog told me blah blah rubbish. i just speak the truth because its the club i love! Get behind the lads and stop moaning! theres a team up the M62 that like to do that sort of stuff, so feel free to go join them for a few seasons. you might just fit in well.

"2. He (Insua) couldnt have counted as home-grown as only players who were 21 before 1st January 1989 can be considered as over-21 for this season's squad - insua was born on 7th January 1989."

1- if he was 21 before 1989 , then he should be collecting his football pension,
2- Insua been with us over 3 years , since he was 18 and hence he counts as home-grown . or have I misunderstood this stupid rule

Roy

Ok so let's get this straight,
We loaned out a 21 year old, home grown, Argentine international who only has 12 months on his contract, which means when the loan is up we get nothing for him, right?
Coincidentally we happened to loan him to the same club that is home to a player that openly stated it his dream to play for Liverpool. King Kenny has also publicly admitted he rates the player very highly.
Is it at all possible that we have reached an agreement with Gala that will see them get Insu on a free and we get Arda
for £X in 12 months?

1. Insua's contract is not up in one year.

2. He couldnt have counted as home-grown as only players who were 21 before 1st January 1989 can be considered as over-21 for this season's squad - insua was born on 7th January 1989.

3. I highly doubt the Insua deal has anything to do with Turan. We were intrested in cisse of panathinikos, plessis went there, we were intrested in diego and trezeguet of juventes, aquliaini went there and we were intrested in khedira of stuttgart before he went to real, and degen went there

What if liverpool sign gai assulin, his a free agent so we don't have to pay for him and can still buy him now, he is young, a striker that could help out torres, and it beats signing cole for the same wages plus transfer money what do you think ed or is it an idea that just doesn't work out

{Editor's Note: It is a good point and it is by no means clear what is going on. I would guess that an agreement may already have been reached with another club and that it is on hold pending resolution of his National Service issues. But by no means a clear situation.}

Sharkey.

IF so Sharkey you are spot on mate it worked! It's one of the most stupid posts i've read on here what a stupid thing to say about WW 2. This is a banter/ rumour site not the History Channel.

I still think our squad is really good. The only player we cannot lose is Torres as we have no world class cover. I have to be honest this could be an opportunity for us to give Pacheco a chance. I hate it that clubs like Barcelona give young players such as Bojan the opportunity when needed; however, in England we never seem to be willing to risk our youth. I think our best team could be (please excuse my spelling of our new midfielder):

Reina

Johnson Carra Agger Konchesky

Cole/ Kuyt Gerrard Mareilis Jova/ Cole

Pacheco/ Babel

TorresI don't really see that as a weak team. I think it would cause most teams problems. If pacheco struggles can always draft Poulson in if we need to pack out the midfield and let Gerrard 'bomb on'.

The only other weakness is potentially speed on the wing; although i don't necessarily buy this. Furthermore, I believe Torres and Babel in a 4-4-2 would cause all sorts of trouble for most defenses.

Sorry to rant its just we are still LFC and within that team there are still 5 world class/ supurb players. I also trust roy. . and believe he will make us a team which is arguably more important.

Pass and Move!

Step up Mr Hodgson. . . Its your time to shine

Why don't liverpool sgn Julio Cruz or Rivaldo who are old but is an extra striker who would help Torres. they are free agents and i think would be worth the wages! !

Ed - looks like we have only named 21 players in our potential 25 man squad.

Do you get the feeling we are still working on a deal or am I just getting my hopes up?

{Editor's Note: It allows other players to be added between now and January if needs be. What were you expecting?}

I understand that this still gives flexibility to call on some of the youth team but I would guess RH doesn't have 4 of them in mind for the eventual squad?

We live in hope. .

Why Dont Liverpool Sign Rivaldo Who Is Currently A Free Agent. . YES! He Is Old But Will Give Us An Extra Striker

1 quick question ed - i was looking at our 25-man squad and found it strange that spearing and darby are included but n'gog isn't when their all 21 - surely n'gog should be included as its only under 21's that don't have to be included or spearing and darby should both not be included either

{Editor's Note: Nothing sinister. They are nominated Home Grown players - N'gog is not.}

01 Sep 2010 17:18:36
{ed please post this}

Right if we are in need of a striker then let dip into the Free market and get a player on the pay as you play deal I have found the following players who are not attached to a club therefore can sign on a free:-

Darrius Vassell - Unattached - Pay as you play (30)
Jérémie Aliadière - Unattached - Pay as you play (27)

Now I know these players are not "Liverpool quality" players however, they would surely help in getting us a striker and both have proven past records in the premiership.

{Editor's Note: They are unattached for a reason and would add nothing except money to the wage and insurance bills. It would be better and more financially sensible for us to use the players we have available who are not getting a game.}

I heard from someone that liverool had less than 4 million in the transfer kitty, which made signing a striker difficult.

These days people want cold-hard-cash and that left liverpool with only two options, trying to loan someone in or offering players + cash deals.

This is the reason we didn't get striker.

' So who will our 25 squad be?

LFC4TUNE'

Unfortunately, we do not have enough players to fill the 25 man squad. (youngsters such as Kelly, Pacheco do not need to be included. We could have done with Aquilani and Insua instead of loaning them.)
The squad is:
GK - Reina, Jones*
RB - Johnson*, Darby*
CB - Carragher*, Skrtel
CB - Agger, Kyrgiakos
LB - Konchesky*, Aurelio
RM - Maxi, Kuyt
CM - Gerrard*, Meireles
CM - Lucas, Poulsen, Spearing*
LM - Jovanovic, Babel
ST - Torres, N'gog
= 24 - we can have 7 HG because we only have 24 players.

Great team - I would still include others e.g. Cole?

Told u all we wouldn't sign any one yesterday casue we aint got the money
what do you think ed? {editor's note - we had money to spend, but the club were not going to pay over the odds for a panic buy. The money will be saved for the January window now.}

' So who will our 25 squad be?

LFC4TUNE'

Unfortunately, we do not have enough players to fill the 25 man squad. (youngsters such as Kelly, Pacheco do not need to be included. We could have done with Aquilani and Insua instead of loaning them.)
The squad is:
GK - Reina, Jones*
RB - Johnson*, Darby*
CB - Carragher*, Skrtel
CB - Agger, Kyrgiakos
LB - Konchesky*, Aurelio
RM - Maxi, Kuyt
CM - Gerrard*, Meireles
CM - Lucas, Poulsen, Spearing*
LM - Jovanovic, Babel
ST - Torres, N'gog
= 24 - we can have 7 HG because we only have 24 players.

WTF Ed. . .The gaurdian are saying Hunterlaar went to Shalke of germany for €13, AND THAT WE OFFERED WEST HAM Lucas and Babel for Carlton Cole! !. . . How can we have attempted to give two squad players away for such rubbish when we could have bought a better player in Hunterlaar? . . .This is making me think Roy didn't have the money for the transfer, and no matter how much you tell us that money goes on pay offs, signing on fee's, wages, and what not, a transfer budget is still a transfer budget! We generated a lot of money from sales this window, and defo enough to at least buy another striker!
. . .And finally. .How the F* k are Lucas and Babel gonna be fealing about Roy after he just tried to get rid of them for a piece of crap like Cole? I'm realy upset for Babel after he has stated recently that he feels this is a new begining for him and that he is realy looking forward to this season. . .

. . Please give your opinion on these matters Ed. . and please stop being so polite when defending the two cowboys terible actions!

thanx

{Editor's Note: I am not sure about the Lucas story but I did raise a similar point about Babel earlier - only to be trashed by those who simply don't want to det behind the team. Regardless of where a player moves to it is not possible just to step in and buy him. Huntelaar went to a club who will offer him first team football and the Champions League. Liverpool cannot offer either. As for the money, nobody ever seems to take account of signing on fees for the free players, agents fees (I bet Col'e were not insignificant), extra wages - so nobody knows what was really available.}

Has Woy come out and said anything regarding yesterday? Still seems very quiet, the only thing i've heard is Nando saying we need to owners.

{Editor's Note: I am not sure what you are expecting the manager to say. At some point there will be a press conference to introduce new players and there will be a formal statement regarding those who have left - the standard "thanks for the great service", "good luck" etc.}

Ed, I read this site quite a bit and just thought I'd comment on the new set up and state it's actually very good.

And also to those who knock the validity of the rumours on here etc, yes I know some are beyond the realms of reality, but trust me when I say this a whole lot of journalists actually use this site to get to the juiciest rumours as I'm sure the editor is well aware of, but they then put their own spin on it.

Also good post from Mr Broughton, I see already that the "itk's" have already started to appear on various sites and are using his statements with their own "spin"on it.

Again ed, cracking site and can't wait to read more

Can we still sign a stricker on loan?

Turan to be unvailed tomorrow. Loan initially and then full time transfer. There was also a striker signed at the death. Either Dutch or German. 12m

To make a bold statement like that you must have proof, so name your source or at least point is in the general direction, but I suspect its just rubbish.

Roy WAS on the verge of signing a major striker, but he decided to wait till January to find the right striker. He has a DEFINITE 15m to spend on a striker, and with the new rules, no player will be cup-tied for Europe after January :)

What new rules??

I'd love it if all the Liverpool fans here would just take a couple of minutes to check the Chelsea, Man utd, Arsenal etc. Rumour pages.

Most of them have signed NOTHING big as well, maybe a couple of small deals.

Truth is Most of the Teams (Apart from Manchester City) are in quite a bit of Debt. Everyone knows Man Utd are in Debt probably around £600 Million , Arsenal Probably around £250 Million, Chelsea are at least £300 Million.

So Obviously These teams are not going to be spending "big" Apart from Man City. (Lucky bunch)

sad to say though, the teams mentioned above have Stronger Squads. So said teams don't really need to buy much.

Apart from Liverpool. We just have to be patient and hope that H&G Get the hell away from LFC and never come back.

Lot's of Lie's and Trickery has been Spouted by these two Idiots and i Can't Wait to see the back of them.

But i still Have Faith in LFC if nothing else is going our way.

At least we're still the Best team in the world (in my eyes) and I hope still THE BEST SUPPORTERS.

Support The Team Regardless of what's going on

Ed When Do you think Liverpool will be sold? i know it's near impossible to say but, We can still Speculate. :) {ed's note - I still think it will be the end of October. I always thought talk of it being done before the end of the transfer window was overly optimistic. But I would rather they took their time and got the right owner anyway.}

Ed do you think liverpool could still get turan as Gala signed Misimovic

is it possible that he could be going even with out SSN or any1 else knowing cheers ed {ed's note - SSN had watchers at the airports, I doubt Turan could have slipped in the country unnoticed. It is not like we would have had to hide him, there would be no fear of being gazumped as he would choose Liverpool over anyone.}

ED, is it possible if Liverpool are in the same situation as Tottenham are in regards to VDV? As in just waiting for clearance? and obviously the papers are not aware of it? {ed's note - it is very unlikely mate.}
