Dont know how true this is but have heard off two people that the clincher for reina to stay, and excitement of other senior players pre next season is the marquee signing rtn of xabi alonso, with more money available for lower budget talented prospects with potential

I've been told by my mate that knows Steven Gerrard personally that senior players (Gerrard, Carragher, Reina, Kuyt) have been told who the club are chasing in the transfer market. . He told me that the players are all very excited about next season, he said they're looking at 12 possibilities to strengthen the squad! ! He never said how many or who would be joining but only 2 players mentioned in the press will join and that Damien Comolli will use the time in Asia to tie up a deal for a young Japanese playmaker. I'm just passing on what i've been told.

We will only sign top quality players who will go straight into the first team this summer as kenny will rely on the likes of flannagan, robinson, suso, sterling etc for back up.

I expect moves for adam, enrique and young to be completed by mid july.

call me jiggy.

20 Apr 2011 15:44:38
Ashley young should NOT be our first choice winger I wonder how much they will want for him? if it's atleast double figures there are plenty more better options granted 2nd 3rd choice winger he would be good but we got to try an get some world beaters if we wana get back amongst the top 4! An please everyone just forget Owen he had a chance to stay an win CL but he wanted to leave sod him, as a back up striker how often do we expect to see him? Maybe 5 times a season? Some back up striker. .

Raheem sterling will fly to asia this summer in preparation for first team action next season.

Please post ed!
You have got it wrong guys, We will only be bringing in 4 first team players this summer providing no key players leave. With youngsters flannagan, Kelly, Spearing and a much improved Lucas vying for regular first team places fewer players will be bought, only necessities. More youngsters will be blooded next season, the likes of toni silva, Raheem Stirling, Suso and Dani Ayala will be given minutes on the pitch.
Ins:
Young 12 million (last year of contract)
Payet 8 million (out of favour with St Ettiene hierachy)
Michael Owen free (ideal backup for Suarez and Carroll)
Jose Enrique 10 million
Youth team players up to 15 mil.
Outs: majority deadwood; (asking prices)
Jovanovic 4 million
Kocheskey 2million
Jones 1.7 million
Soto out of contract
NGog 7 million
Please post!
What do you think ed?
Joe {Ed002's Note - I am not going to give an opinion - but I will post it of course.}

A question for the Eds or anyone who wants to comment.
How can "arry, I'm not a wheeler dealer, I'm a eff** football manager" come out and say that he is going to go after Drogba in the summer, while Drogba is currently under contract with a rival club????? I thought that there were rules and regulations forbidding such activities. Is it a way of unsettling a player of a rival team or a way of getting a head start on the opponents. I just read this online at the Irish Independent website. What is the definition of "tapping up" a player??????

{Ed002's Note - Did he actually state he was going after Drogba? He may well have responded to a loaded question and mentioned Drogba. They certainly would not make an illegal approach to the player themselves and I do agree there is a pretty fine line between tapping up and just discussing options.}

Ssn has an article saying Taiwo's made his mind up to leave Marseilles. He knows where he's going. . Is he going to be a red or will Milan/ Munich pinch him?

I really, really enjoy your posts MPez mate.

I was not wrong. Sahin has a serious injury and will be out for months. Unless you're Rafa Benitez then i don't think anyone will go for him in the summer.

You did NOT know he got injured at the weekend against Freiburg. I didn't even know he got injured against Frieburg but i did know he got injured.

Again MPez you have shown the benefits of using Google. Lets face it mate without Google you'd be h*cked.

I suggest you re-read Mpez's post to which you answered with this. He never said Sahin wasn' injured, only that injuries have never stopped a player making a transfer before. Aquilani is a prime example.
Sorry, but you made a T i t of yourself by simply not reading what he had in fact written.

However Mpez, He certainly will not be going to Manchester United this summer ;)

Ed do you no when king kennys going to get the job and any transfer targets?? {Ed002's Note - No idea when or if he will get the job. As for transfers, read the posts.}

20 Apr 2011 13:08:36
Has there been any more interest of late in Arda Turan? The Turkish lads I know have been raving about him for the past couple of years and from what I've seen and read about him he is a decent enough option for the left wing. Also he has a decent bit of fight in him which we have certainly lacked for a few years now. Mind you Kenny seems to be instilling the unity of the team again. {Ed002's Note - He will almost certainly be heading to Atletico Madrid or Valencia in the summer.}

20 Apr 2011 12:43:37
Ed is there any news on a.young yesterday i heard that a deal had ben made for him and jose enrique. Also is there any news on C.Adam, havnt heard a lot about him other than hes been unhappy at blackpool as they didn't let him leave for liverpool {Ed002's Note - No news on any of these I am afraid. Certainly no completed deals.}

20 Apr 2011 12:32:53
I live in London and have heard if west ham go down we will try to get demba ba as a back up striker

isn't he on loan ? {Ed002's Note - No the transfer went through in January.}

20 Apr 2011 12:15:49
Roger Johnson has emerged as a target for LIverpool. Comolli has already had him watched.

20 Apr 2011 12:06:11
Ed, you didn't really answer my question though. I know payet is an option and I know chelsea are interested but do you think LFC Will' make a bid for him? {Ed002's Note - It would be speculation for me to guess if a bid were to be made. As I explained, there is a gentleman's agreement in place that Comolli will not poach player from St-Et., but Payet has been a real pain this year and they will be pleased to let him go. It is anticipated that he will go to PSG, and Rennes was mentioned here and seems plausible. So it would just be a guess on my part whether Liverpool would make an offer or not. If I were in a position to decide, I would.}

Just been reading on the ssn website in the scout section and it says liverpool are "very" interested in the basle winger Xherdan Shaqiri. have the eds or anyone heard if he is any good?
mikey {Ed002's Note - This is old news being recycled. I suspect that there may still be interest but it may be worth checking the date of the article you read.}

Ed002
No mate, Im not confusing the interest of the club vs fans. That was my point. Our posters on here would have us signing everyone and their sons. The players that I mentioned were just examples of this.
It seems like money auctions on players are in the interest on no-one except the selling club. Do you think negotiation takes place between English clubs to (sort of) agree who will go for who ?
Otherwise, as I said, there could be a free-for-all.
Ta
KB {Ed002's Note - A good point then. Another good question is about clubs agreeing informally between themselves not to bid up players. It has happened for years between clubs at an international level (recently Manchester City and Real Madrid; in the past Chelsea and both Milan clubs etc.). I don't know of any agreements between English sides but it does not mean that there aren't any. An interesting point though.}

Ed, Dimitri Payet, I have watched this boy for a long time now. He has natural class and I believe he would be outstanding, possibly transforming into a world class winger if he joined us. There are rumours about talks ongoing and his price being at a bargain 7million euros. I have studied the game for a long time and this boy is better than young, turan, jarvis and the hungarian winger(not going to attempt to spell his name). Ed, Ino that LFC like others have been watching him, but are we seriously'i nterested prompting these rumours to be true mate? {Ed002's Note - I completely agree that Payet is a real talent. He will be well known by Comolli from his time at St-Etienne. Although a gentleman's agreement exists for Comolli not to take players from the club, they will be pleased to get rid of Payet over the summer. The opposition will be Paris Saint Germain and possibly Rennes. Liverpool would likely need to pay rather more than the figure you quoted. There is a chance of interest from a West London club as well.}

20 Apr 2011 11:47:25
Lots of talk today about a possible move for Dmitri Payet? Any truth in this ed?

I believe he wud be a superb signing for the left flank.

Coxy {Ed002's Note - Payet plays very much on the right - but he is an option.}

20 Apr 2011 11:21:05
{Ed002's Note - There are certainly a few players that interest more than one club in England (e.g. Defour is of interest to Manchester United and Liverpool} but I am not sure if Liverpool have too many such conflicts on their hands.

Ed002, u wanna tell our posters on here that again -
Hulk, Llorente, M'Vila, Honda, Hazard, Sanchez, Cahill, Young, A Johnson, etc etc etc. . .
Lol.
Cheers
KB

{Ed002's Note - I think you need to take off the rose tinted glasses. I also think that you may be confusing the interest the club may have in a player with the interest fans have in a player. Whilst there may be interest in Hulk from Liverpool, it remains undeclared at this time. Llorente was of interest prior to signing Andy Carroll, so it seems unlikely he is an option now. Liverpool had a chance to make a move for Honda in January and decided not to - the season in Russia has only recently gotten underway so the likelihood of him moving in the summer is slim. Hazard was a player Comolli said he admired - it is unlikely that a bid would be made and even less likely that he would move to Anfield. The player has made his preferred destinations clear on many occasions and has recently signed a new contract at Lille. There has been no Liverpool interest in Sanchez and he will not be making the move to Anfield. If Liverpool wish to match the fee required for Cahill I doubt any of the other clubs would stand in the way. Young is certainly a clash with Manchester United and perhaps others. Liverpool fans are certainly interested in Adam Johnson but I don't know of any interest from the club.}

Have heard from a friend in Italy that the 'agreement' Juventus are trying to come to Liverpool with over Aquilani is rather than pay the £14.5m option they want to pay £7m and give us momo back. .

what do you think ed? {Ed002's Note - I have no heard that at all. They certainly plan to meet with Liverpool and try and negotiate a better deal for themselves.}

20 Apr 2011 10:55:29
On a semi-related LFC matter, do you Ed / s know or what do you feel are Kroenke's intentions are in the transfer market ? Do you think Arsenal may spend quite big ?
I only say as it seems that all the same players are being mentioned as possible transfer targets by the current top x 6 English clubs. So it looks like there's gonna be some serious money spent this summer, Fair Play Regs or no Fair Play Regs !
Cheers
KB

{Ed002's Note - There are certainly a few players that interest more than one club in England (e.g. Defour is of interest to Manchester United and Liverpool} but I am not sure if Liverpool have too many such conflicts on their hands. As for Kroenke's plans I really don't know. Every year we arrive at a Summer where Arsenal are expected to do some pretty serious trading, but it never really happens. This year seems more likely thank most but don't expect too much involvement from Kroenke as he is certainly no expert on football.}

Hears anything about Diego Perotti? SSN reporting that he'll be available this summer. Think he would be a very good buy. Pace, skill, decent cross and is only 22 who can only get better. So are we interested? {Ed002's Note - There is nothing explicit. His agent is talking up a move and has mentioned the names of most English clubs including Manchester City, Chelsea, Everton, Manchester United, Arsenal and of course Liverpool. Liverpool may well be interested as he fits the "profile" and I suspect will be able to offer more than Everton who really do seem to be interested. Oddly, no mainland European clubs are being identified as having shown any interest. So one to keep an eye on.}

Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group, have given another indication that Kenny Dalglish will be offered the long-term manager's position at Anfield by opening talks with Steve Clarke over a new long-term deal.
