Afternoon Ed's, I've seen Ben Arfa linked with Liverpool today. Do you know if there's any truth in this or just another random name? Cheers.

Believable2 Unbelievable13

{Ed002's Note - Nice are looking to cash in on Hatem Ben Arfa with Dortmund, both Milan clubs and Atletico making their interest known. It is very unlikely that Inter will be able to make anything happen but Milan are pushing hard now.}

21 Apr 2016 22:36:48
Hopefully it's an old link, too old and was pretty ordinary when he was in the PL.

21 Apr 2016 23:25:31
Not too old but clearly there's a problem failed to really make an impact at Newcastle or Hull.

Some big clubs interested there. Didn't seem to suit the aggression of the English game. Couldn't see him at Dortmund with the pressing game they play.

He was starring for newcastle before.

"Starring" is a word that I wouldn't use to describe his time in England. He is a talented player but one with attitude issues, and had problems with management at Lyon, Marseilles and Newcastle. I would be very much surprised if Klopp is interested in someone like Ben Arfa.

Agree11 Disagree12

22 Apr 2016 07:54:51
Bigger problem is that he has been haunted by injury issues throughout his career - not what we need.

Agree1 Disagree13

22 Apr 2016 07:57:47
He actually played fairly well in England for a while, then just went to pot and never brought it back.
Attitude is apparently woeful amd I wouldn't want him, not with Ojo, Ibe, Markovic, Firmino, Lallana, Coutinho all capable of playing in similar roles.

Agree4 Disagree12

22 Apr 2016 08:24:00
I'd say at 29 he was too old to spend a big transfer fee on, has a shocking attitude too. His career is only going one way and frankly wouldn't want us to be his last pay day. Remember he went AWOL when on loan at Hull as he couldn't be bothered. No thanks. No thanks at all.

Agree0 Disagree12

22 Apr 2016 09:41:03
I would agree at 29 he would be too old, but he is 27. Too much baggage though unless he has matured.

Agree1 Disagree11

22 Apr 2016 10:22:37
Higgins, he was born on 7th March 1987. Which makes him 29. Unless you are using the same method of age calculation that Tim Westwood uses.

I just rely on BBC being correct in their articles I guess they got that one wrong, apologies.

No worries chap. The original story came from The S*n. So it can be marked as BS.

Hi eds,

Has anyone looked at Alphonse Aréola who is on loan from PSG at Villareal. Surely with Trapp and Sirigu in there ranks they would be willing to sell. Has liverpool scouted him?

Thanks.

Believable2 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - PSG has no intention of sellingbhim.}

22 Apr 2016 08:25:55
PSG are looking at offloading Sirigu on to some poor mug this summer, so I'd say he'd be returning to be number 2.

Hearing rumours Callum Wilson is being considered with a bid of 20million, just b/ s or have Lfc s genuine interest in him?

Believable2 Unbelievable29

21 Apr 2016 18:08:06
I would be very surprised if we were even considering such a bid for a player who's been injured for much of this season and has resultingly started but a handful of Premier League games, particularly in a position in which we are already swamped with options!

Agree5 Disagree14

21 Apr 2016 21:17:58
7 games in the Premiership this year (unfortunately he got injured), not sure I'd pay £20m for him just yet.

22 Apr 2016 00:20:33
I honestly don't think we need another striker even if Benteke is sold and Sinclair, Yesil and Dunn leave. Sturridge, Origi, Ings (once fit) and Firmino can all player there.

And we still have Awoniyi on loan unable to get a WP and hopefully he can get one and Klopp can have a look at him.

Agree3 Disagree10

22 Apr 2016 07:57:51
The only reason to buy another striker right now would be a real top quality striker coming available (lets say for example Lewandowski decided he was desperate to rejoin Klopp or Kane decided he hated Spurs as a minimum standard) and we had done all our other business with funds left over and a chance to sell one of the others, or sell an AM to move Firmino back there full time.

Heard a late April Fools today, apparently Michael Owen is an international ambassador for LFC, the things some people make up eh.

Believable13 Unbelievable20

21 Apr 2016 17:22:24
Looks like it's true. according to the Echo anyway.
Can't see many LFC fans (including myself) being happy with Owen being International Ambassador for our Club!

Judas.

Agree16 Disagree16

21 Apr 2016 19:20:31
I'm not sure I'd call Owen a judas, I'm not sure how many offers he had when he went to United, but I know it was pay as you play, not sure how many offers he had on the table, but in a choice between retiring and playing for United, I think most players would take that option.

so obviously you haven't heard the recording of him saying effinell we need 2 now after we scored at O. T in Europa?
vile little welch man he's not even English he sh*t on his national team Wales too. I hope one of his horses mount him :-)

Agree15 Disagree17

21 Apr 2016 21:44:08
Born in Chester - makes him well and truly English. Scoring ratio better than Robbie's, no point in talking to unknowledgable LFC fans who have a go at him for leaving for a 10 million free, whilst at the same time accepting that McManaman let his contact run down and left on a free.

I'm delighted. Means he will be less likely to do commentary on our games now I would think.

Agree5 Disagree13

John B - personally I think he's scum for three reasons in this order:

1) because he's a nasty toe-rag and a bully who used his position as a young graduate into the first team to bully the u21 players.

2) because he is so boring to listen to as a pundit, with such poor commentary, I find it personally offensive.

3) because Liverpool made him but he never showed even the slightest bit of contrition or gratitude to the club that made him, gave him the reputation he rode for the rest of his career and supported him through a succession of injuries that ruined season after season because he couldn't stop them and wouldn't work with a partner who could support us through them.

Is that knowledgeable enough for you? Do I have your permission to hate his ratty face?

Agree8 Disagree12

{Ed001's Note - more importantly he threw tantrum after tantrum about Fowler, until Houllier felt he had to choose between the two of them.}

Hahaha Hjijle great knowledge👌.

Some mates of mine worked on a extension at his gaff, it was stipulated no one was to ever speak to him, one guy broke the rule, off the job within the hour. Cock!

I haven't asked any questions regarding our ins and outs recently but how likely is it that Alberto Moreno will be off out of the Mersey in the summer guys, thanks for any responses in advance.

Believable1 Unbelievable11

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer likelihood but Liverpool has looked at a couple of left backs - but I am not aware of any interest in Moreno right now.}

21 Apr 2016 08:34:27
Hi Eds . Is there any news on Danny Ings? with respect to how he is recovering . has he done any training yet? i'd really like to see him grow with Klopp, not sure obviously on Klopps thoughts about him.

Believable1 Unbelievable11

{Ed001's Note - Square Tomato has posted up an update about his recovery and that he is back in training of a kind, though it is unlikely he will play this season.}

21 Apr 2016 09:01:05
I think Ings will thrive under Klopp just as Origi has.

Agree21 Disagree12

21 Apr 2016 13:30:50
Fully agree that he will thrive in Klopps system, I think Origi/ Sturridge with Ings will be a great strike partnership.

21 Apr 2016 19:22:56
Who hasn't thrived under klopp? Ings will come back better than ever!
Only benteke hasn't improved I think.
At the start of the season, I didn't enjoy watching any games, but now I enjoy most! It's good to watch again, and playing good football makes players play better.

Ings is the type of player that Klopp likes, hardworking, intelligent, willing to learn and with a good amount of skill to boot. I think that Sturridge, Origi, Ings and Firmino isn't too shabby for a forward selection, although I wouldn't complain if we added Lacazette.
