Evening Ed I know a few people have suggested a couple of players from Borussia Monchengladbach, do we still have good links with them?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed005's Note - We do mate however don't think we have any interest in any of their players.}

Should sign there GK

Let's just get their goalkeeper if Pepe leaves. That'll be enough. With Sigurdsson, Krasic & a good striker(preferably Huntelaar) we'll have a strong team next season. We need to sell Carroll as well. He's a bad player.

SUMON VAI

Well perhaps if reina leaves ter stagen could be a good replacement

Rondon would be a bargain at 9mil, Gylfi for 7 mil that leaves alot of cash for a winger

Krasic and another winger and another striker would be great!

Hi Ed's,

Any team, hopefully d reds, interested in Jiracek of (Cze Rep). Looks very impressive in euros. Know he signed for Wolfsburg on 2011.

Love this site lads. Ridiculously addictive.

Scobie {Ed005's Note - Heard nothing on him but I doubt we'll seek to bring players in based on performances at the Euros.}

Fast, works hard, not good enough for Liverpool.

I agree he has caught my eye can play right or CM and has a nice touch and great stamina

Cant help but be impressed with him but also cant help thinking about diao and diouf....pure tournament players. maybe he will prove to be a bargain for someone but personally i dont see it being us...i may be wrong though.

Diao and Diouf were signed before the world cup. Why do so many people think they were signed on the back of their tournament performances? The club even made a big deal at the time about how they were signed before their prices shot up.

Jiracek is a superb player, better than anyone we've got apart from Gerard and Suarez. We should defo go for him.

BBC radio 5 live were reporting at about 5:30 today that Laudrup had said Gyfli should go to Liverpool. He said that he'd like him at Swansea but that Gyfli's heart is with LFC and that LFC are a massive European club so he thinks Gyfli should sign for us.

I reckon that Laudrup knows more than most about where Gyfli is going so it bodes well for the transfer being sealed soon. Presumably it can't be completed until 1st July though.

Bob

He didnt say that gylfi should go to liverpool, in fact he said nothing at all about liverpool. what he did say is that swansea are not holding the cards in this matter (ie its out of their hands and up to gylfi and his club)

Are you Bob the groundsman at Anfield? ;)

Are you bob the groundskeeper with the big lawnmower that overheard rodgers saying hes not gonna sell anyone,dont be giving out info ya cud loose your job.REDNESS

Everton to sign him, done deal.

Top man Michael Laudrup, if this is true that's a very selfless act. Although it's not much of a choice is it? Swansea or Liverpool?

My mate that works at the echo delivering the papers to the shops says that the echo know who Liverpools new signings will be, and who will leave There will be two leaving.

First of all, Nicholas Bendtner will sign for £1( million.
Matt Jarvis will sign for 11 mil.
Seydou Doumbia will come on the cheap at 23 mil.
Nigel Floyd Hasslebank of St Mirren, 4 mil.
Kevin Davis, 4 mil
Anichebe on loan
Cattermole 7 mil

Carroll Pavlyuchenko swap deal.
Suarez to Juve 25 mil.

Don't shoot the messenger, Rodgers Reds

Omg the messenger dont need shooting he needs his medication or a cuddle from mummy what a drip

Brilliant, that's the funniest thing i've read all week!

Thanks,

SCF27

Definitely not a red. Why bother?

You must of spent hours to think about something so stupid

Why do person posts like this still get posted? Its just plain pathetic!

And here's me thinking Brendan Rodgers was our manager when in fact it was the editor of the echo all along!!

I suppose we'll also be swapping agger and skrtel for a non league bus driver and bringing Bjorn Tore Kvarme out of retirement!

Wouldn't waist a bullet on such tosh. No need to worry about getting shot at.

Almost hilarious, and you took your time and little mind to write that junk, well done to funny!!

Mate you realise this is the liverpool page not hartlepool. for a start hasslebaink is on a free, he wont sign a new contract. too much fifa 12 son!!
ravenrudeboy

Shoot the paperboy!

You really listening to the paper lad?

Never mind don't shoot the messenger, u need castrating for even bothering to post this bish. No offence like

So carroll is going to russia (i believe zenit?) to play? doesnt make sense to me or jarvia for 11 or any of the others JLFC

Ha! !

Jimbo

You need to phone in sick tomorrow ,that bump to head was more serious than first thought . Cheers psv

Nearly as good as the Straqcualarsi rumour.

RJ LFC

This is the worst rumour i have ever seen 5 strikers to play? Good one

Are you on drugs

Read some crap on here but this takes the biscuit..
Will be aghast if we sign 3 of the above named players.
Owen

With people wanting shawcross and catermole i was wondering if we are joining the rugby first division. Somebody like shawcross would guarantee top 2 there!

I can't see the Carroll pavlyochenko deal happening and Suarez said he wants to work under BR

Hasslebank has joined St Johnstone on free he will never play for Liverpool !

Where is peoples sense of humour? What a loonily funny post!

Haha this is pure comedy! Kevin bloody Davies!! {Ed005's Note - He'd generate massive revenue for us at Easter mate - stick his head in an Easter egg box and we'd make a fortune!}

No one realises thats ferguson its how he gets his kicks him and gary neville

Kevin Davis and hasslebaimk the only free agents who cost money

I appreciate your attempts at trying to sound genuine, but that is just laughable

Dont shoot the messenger..then dont post crap, go to sleep you got school in the morning sun beam

Haha!! whopa!!

Wow, he went fishing and caught loads here, don't give him the satisfaction, just ignore him

Surely if the echo new this then they would publish it, since reporting the news is pretty much their entire purpose.

You should've shot the messenger
derryred

Haha classic.

21 Jun 2012 23:02:04
Ha ha ha. Nigel Hasselbaink signed for St Johnstone last week for free - Source Manager Steve Lomas and Daily Record

Silly mug all made up!

What a cracking sense of humour you have.

Mate, Davis signed a new contract at bolton.... These signings are so unrealistic..... You should stop reading the echo ...although doumbia wouldn't be a bad signing with his pace. Also I think Carroll is most probably tied to th club for life with his price tag.

I was going to reply to this and then i read above. Nuf said!

In my two years reading this site I've never had to post a comment nor a rumour (because I am in no way ITK) but whoever posted this is a dreamer and needs to be sectioned.

DG

Funny this genuinly made my day

Brilliant... because all paper boys know all the news in the Echo, and even if the Echo did know, why wouldn't they print it?
Haha good laugh tho

Ed is this the first time someone posted on here drunk?? Well done with spelling everything while u were drunk mate

Barry 4256

Ha ha, that's brilliant......you sure your mate delivers papers to the shops and not to houses on his BMX!!

Yes and heskey and hibbert will also be signing obviously! clueless red.

21 Jun 2012 19:45:40
seedorf excellent fre transfer for a couple of seasons

Couple of games more like it, great player but at 36 is in the twilight of his career!

Turned 36 and gawd knows what wages he'd want.Not wanted at Anfield thank you!

Totally agree! And what a nice chap

Mate its 2012 not 2000

Experience wud be amazing!! if scholes can do it!!!

Seedorf would breeze thru the premier league. The man still has it n I don't care what age he is. Look at Gary Mac and what he done for Liverpool.. Seedorf would be an amazing short term signing.

Mark D

Where do these people get this crap from?
Seedorf isn't remotely an option. He's very old and has a massive attitude.
ANFIELDPETE

Still quality,I agree mate

21 Jun 2012 19:30:07
€ 6.5m bid put in for Ricardo Quaresma of Beşiktaş, Just what i've heard.

ROSKS_lfc

Your just trying to spark a rumour off

Should have signed him years ago

jeff

U r obviously trying to start a rumour off. I wud of Definately had him about 4-5 years ago as I thought he looked quality but his attitude problem has always hindred his career and I don't think any top club will sign him again. Chelsea had him on loan a cuple of years ago when he was a inter Milan player for mourinho and he never played a game. So no chance. Langatang

Hi eds, just would like to ask you what level of player is realistic and examples? Just because I read this site everyday and see ppl ask if, munian, soldado etc are likely to sign and the eds generally say tht they are very unlikely. And then ppl ask if a player of average quality are likely to sign and the eds say they aren't good enough for LFC. I believe we shud be able to lure top quality players myself because we are still a massive club and it must be an attractive club for most players other than stupid ones like cavani, benzema and the like. Munian wud surely jump at the opportunity? He wud be a key man for one of Europes biggest clubs at 19yrs old. Thanks eds, pls post and reply. Langatang {Ed005's Note - People's expectations are unrealistic as to who we can sign is the problem mate - Cavani, Higuain being examples. Without CL football we can't attract certain players but that doesn't mean we can't attract or go in for quality players. Another thing is FSG don't want to pay mega wages for mercenaries who don't care about the club but just their own bank account and reputation. They want players who want to play for LFC and give their all to take the club on and that doesn't mean it won't be a quality player we get. I think players like Sigurdsson, Rondon, De Jong, Krasic (players we've been linked with) are quality players three of which have great potential and would improve our team. What's more is that they want to play for Liverpool and although they'd be getting a very good wage they wouldn't just be here for the money. Sigurdsson for example, I'm sure would attract interest from some top teams if he held out but he wants to come to LFC. That's the type of player we need.}

Well said ed and to make a seperate but equally talked about point that dont sound like tight owners who dont care about the club

Good response Ed005 That also applies to every club you want those who want to play for you it shouldn't just be the money

Pardoe

Well said 005!

Such a good answer from Ed005, by far my favourite...spoke some sense there! Cheers Liamred

I totally agree with the ed. we don't want players who are only hungry for success but players who are hungry for success with liverpool fc. then we will avoid entering the torres saga again. also i think that for muniain to join us he would be leaving a club which to players of basque heritage is much more than a club so naturally he wouldn't want to leave unless we offer stupid wages or champion league football. bilbao also don't really have to sell players because there aren't really many that they can buy due to their strict laws etc. but they want to sell muniain and as i recall most spanish clubs are in huge debt. still but i don't think liverpool fc will get him.
derryred

Best post and response in a long while. Good work on both sides! Jayo

Thanks alot for the reply, appreciate it. Langatang

21 Jun 2012 19:16:18
Hi eds, is it true Krasic is close to joining WHU?
And also when do you expect done more news on Sigurdsson thanks {Ed005's Note - I expect Sigurdsson to be completed pretty soon mate provided there are no snags. Krasic I don't have a clue what's happening there mate.}

Cheers eds!

21 Jun 2012 18:51:39
Eds, have u heard anything on the possible move for Flamini? Have heard this a few times now, and Brendan Rodgers has told friends back home here in Ireland that they have spoken to the player who is now on a free? Let me know, great site eds! {Ed005's Note - I don't know why Rodgers would tell his friends in Northern Ireland that he is going in for a player when the likelyhood is that it'll be spread around. I can't see us going for Flamini given his wage demands, probable demand for regular first-team football and age.}

Ed005, don't forget that he's terrible aswell

Not saying the original poster is wrong but i know a few people close to rodgers, been asking for any info and haven't heard flamini mentioned once.
ravenrudeboy

Man come on.enough said

Greetings everyone,

Posted a few questions here before, thought I'd share some information with you all (which I'm sure the Eds & most smart readers will know)-

I'm interning at a newspaper, couldn't pull a position with the sports team but talked to a few of the guys over there and they basically confirmed that most rumours printed are absolute BS. Now I know everyone knows this but they said some interesting stuff regarding Liverpool!

1. Liverpool is added to this papers rumours about a player purely as the readership statistics weigh something like 40-60 for Liverpool vs all other clubs

2. PSG always have their name thrown in for obvious reasons, most people here don't really know whats going on with their team (what positions they need players in etc.) so they make a believable name.
3. This paper in particular has NO inside information on Liverpool, they get nothing new on Liverpool

can't say what paper I'm talking about, smoke and mirrors, but just thought I'd tell you guys what I heard.

ForzaRed

{Ed016's Note - Already knew all this. Good points to show everyone though.}

As a good mate of mine always says about football writers "If they don't have a story then they make one up!" Also he likes to say the writers never let the truth stand in the way of a good story.

Good post.
I've believed this fir a couple of years... The papers know next to nothing about what is going on at our club but make it up cause we all wanna know. Sure look at this site, the eds used to say the Liverpool rumours got more hits than the rest of the sites together. ( Not sure if this is still true but I'm sure one of the eds would answer).

Cheers
JJ {Ed005's Note - Still the case mate. LFC site is busy 24/7.}

The reason being Liverpool has the busiest I can only assume is for two reasons. Firstly prats from other teams like to wind us up and post stupid rumours and secondly Liverpool have the greatest supporters in the world and we want to know what is happening with our club 24/7.

I read this site everyday and check it about 25 times a day when the Transfer Window is open. Most Liverpool fans I speak to do the same and the ones who dont I believe I have converted to check the site anyway. My main reason for looking is because of the EDs who do a fantastic job, the odd Macca gossip as I think he is one of the best sources and lastly to read what true Red fans think aswell. I am bored of negative posts. WE ARE LIVERPOOL FC & YNWA JFT96

Jonboy6

Was that a hint in the last line as to the paper? - Would have expected to be the same across all tbh.

21 Jun 2012 18:27:58
Ed, why don't we go in for pogrebnyak,especially on a free, would be great!!!!!! {Ed005's Note - Because he's not good enough for Liverpool mate.}

He's a better player than andy carroll and thats a fact...if not better, at least as good, as andy carroll..lets get real here {Ed005's Note - It's not a fact it's a matter of opinion. Carroll back at his Newcastle form which I hope BR can bring out will be a feared striker in the PL.}

There was a reason he went to fulham on loan yenno cause he is rubbish and couldnt get a game for his other team

You can't really say that, coz you'll love Sig and he's not good enough for that German team, so surely he's not good enough for us? {Ed005's Note - Completly different situations. Sigurdsson didn't fit in to how Babbel makes Hoffenheim play for some silly reason. That's like saying Samuel Eto'o wasn't quality as he was sold by Real Madrid.}

Agree with ed005, however, Charlie adam and downing are also not good enough for liverpool.

Haaa..... some ppl really are stupid!! not u Ed...ur a smart one!! ;)

I have to disagree i think this huys much better than carroll id like to see him at lfc.. Just my opinion like

21 Jun 2012 17:38:01
Hey eds great site this is im totally hooked on it.

I jus wanna knw ur opnion with regards to da goalkeeper options liverpool have. With liverpool not having a reliable backup keeper for reina do u think mayb we should look at the young keepers out there and maybe loan them out to gain exprience so that when reina does decide to leave pool we have a well decent enuf keeper to take over. Perhapa maybe jack butland. has there been any interest for him and wat wud u estimate he may be worth.

Keep up the great work {Ed005's Note - I think we should let Gulacsi (sp) have a run as backup goalkeeper to be honest I think it would save us a lot of money and the lad could end up being a good goalkeeper. I don't think Reina's problem is lack of competition - I think bringing back Valero would do him the world of good but a general confidence throughout the whole team would help. Unless we sign a world class goalkeeper Reina has nothing to worry about in my eyes - and we're not gona splash out on one.}

21 Jun 2012 17:27:28
Ed do you think there is a chance of us signing doumbia or soldado? i know we may have watched them but could you see them signing {Ed002's Note - I would need to check with the search function.}

Hi ed, liverpool post (reliable) says aly chissoko is on are list, brendan rodgers must not be impressed by enrique

Zinggg

Yeh come on Ed, stop wasting everyone's time and learn to use the search function :-) (all in the best possible taste of course)

21 Jun 2012 17:11:08
Eds do we have genuine interest in Fabio borini and Lacina Traore ? Also what kind of a player is Traore {Ed002's Note - Borini perhaps but his ownership needs resolving and I rather doubt he would want to return to England yet. Lacina Traore - no idea about interest from Liverpool but there was an enquiry from Fulham.}

Even a quick google search shows that Lacina Traore is a 6ft 8in striker - taller than Peter Crouch and by the look of him slightly bulkier. I think his style may be tailored slightly to these physical attributes.

Jolly red

Just on Borini did he not enjoy life in England when at Chelsea because he was here for 5 years from 16, or is it the fact that he just wants to further his career in Italy and get in the National Squad regularly {Ed005's Note - Chelsea wanted him to sign a new contract but he wanted to go to Italy at the time. Seems as though it was the right decision.}

21 Jun 2012 16:43:38
Michael laudrup just been interviewed live on sly news and he as good as admitted that sigurdsson will sign for the reds! IMO it will be a great signing and hopefully the start of a busy summer

Thanks, some good news there.
CR

21 Jun 2012 15:54:47
Ed is it true that Dortmund have signed Schieber? If yes, what are its implications on the De Jong deal, if at all.

Sj {Ed002's Note - With Barrios gone and Lewandowski possibly leaving Dortmund need to buy. Borussia Mönchengladbach and Benfica are looking for permission to talk to the player as well.}

21 Jun 2012 15:47:27
Wigan star Victor Moses has apparently told MTNFootball that Whelan has said there are offers on the table from Chelsea, Liverpool, QPR and Sunderland and will now think about his future with the Latics, saying that the highest bidder would secure his services.
What do you think Eds. If it goes to a bidding war do you think Liverpool would win his services from Chelsea

{Ed002's Note - If there are offers from these clubs I suspect that the one from Cheslea is perhaps the lowest.}

Whelan is either a liar or senile judging by his version of our alleged attempt to lure his manager away.Best bet is he's trying to whip up a bidding war in my opinion.

Hes looking for those 15 minutes of fame again nothing to it i bet.

21 Jun 2012 15:44:55
Big news of Gylfi Sigurdsson tomorrow, I promise you. I don't know where he will end up but his future will be sorted out tomorrow. Reliable sources from Iceland, I am Icelandic.

Reddie

We'll wait and see but if your correct thanks for the info.!

Fingers crossed then mate.

Hope so

So what if you are icelandic? Does every1 from iceland get to know inside info on icelandic players or something?

I could have sworn I seen him outside Boogie Nights last night eating a kebab. Must of been him.......

Yeah i went to iceland last night for some frozen chips and he was there could not believe it he said also u will hear news tomoz.

I dont think anybody should be disrespecting are icelandic fans with easy jibes about the shop these guys come over to games and spend a lot of their hard earned cash we need these fans maybe the the heard something in the local news tommy irish red.

Hard earned cash lol

Thank god there are only two people in Iceland, they talk to each other and you post on this website.

What is this real world and how can I download one?

Still waiting!!

21 Jun 2012 15:41:33
any chance of Elia this summer Ed?

He was always an exciting player and didn't get a shout last season for Juventus

Just a though like, would be an exciting prospect to bring in

cheers {Ed002's Note - Elia looked certain to move to Valencia a year ago with Liverpool and others considering the player too expensive. He decided to stay in Hamburg and then took the option of a move to Juventus over Newcastle - but it has not really worked out and Juve were willing for him to make a move on loan in January with, I expect, an option to buy. Everton, Hertha Berlin and Newcastle had apparently shown interest and his representatives were looking to place him in a northern European side where he would get a regular start but nothing came of it. He will be available this summer but the only firm interest right now is from Benfica and Genk although West Ham may try and lure him to London.}

Downing is better than him

In what way would you say Downing was better though? Elia is an exciting footballer, who would bring a bit of sparkle to a team who have played, at times, some pretty straight-forward, borderline boring football.
I would be made up if we got him, or anyone who plays in a similar way, to bring back that magic LFC were once famed for

21 Jun 2012 15:23:41
hey Ed just seen this on football365 transfer blog for today and it says this.

14.48: We're not quite sure why they've got a story on it, but Portuguese newspapers A Bola reckon Klass-Jan Huntelaar is heading for England, and any/all of Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham are keen.
The price will be £17million, apparently.

Do you know of any interest Ed ? would be afantastic signing

Cheers,Zincho {Ed002's Note - I doubt that Huntelaar will be playing for Liverpool next season and, as of lunchtime, certainly Liverpool have not spoken with Schalke.}

I hope we don't go for him I never rated him I'd much rather de Jong or a young striker

He scored 48 goals in 47 games this season.

21 Jun 2012 15:14:24
The sigurdsson deal has hit a snag due to valuation. Dont normally post rumours but this is from a credible source from the liverpool ECHO. Believe me or dont, doesnt bother me.

Scouse Ben

Same rumour has been circulating here in Iceland this morning.

Thank you for the choice Ben. I choose not to believe you.

Is that because Liverpool were not willing to match the fee previously agreed with Swansea, or because 1899 knew that bigger clubs were interested so upped the asking price? {Ed002's Note - The fee greed in January with Swansea is of absolutely no relevance at all to Liverpool.}

I dont believe you.

GET REAL

If it doesnt bother you then why post it.

Since when has anything from the Manc Echo been credible?

I think someones telling porkies¦

Certainly would be an explanation for the delay in finalising the deal

21 Jun 2012 15:11:08
Ed Ryan babel said on twitter #Rodgers could he be hinting at a move back and are liverpool interested in him?

Limerick Red {Ed002's Note - If it is on Twitter it has to be true.}

Twitter has been more reliable than this site!! {Ed002's Note - Let me know when Babel arrives back at Anfield then.}

Twitter you say ? thats me off down the bookies so

There is a lot of BS on Twitter just as there is in the papers and on forums and rumour sites.Basically all you can do is believe the ones you want to believe or wait until an official announcement is made.

Twitter sure did see rodgers happening.
derryred

I can confirm that Babel DID tweet this, I retweeted it earlier and it's still on my twitter page if anyone cares to check. But he was responding to a user who posed him the question, "Who decides for you to come back to Liverpool?" (it was in Dutch I think, rough translation)

and he responded #Rodgers

that was it

Babel still does have love for the club by the way, the way he tweets I think he WOULD come back. But we're looking to the future, not the past!

McSnuggles {Ed016's Note - He is a terrible player.}

I don't recall him tearing up any trees since he left us and was very disappointing when he played for us so why on earth would we be interested now?

Oh dear god no babel useless lazy player had all the talent in the world but cant be bothered to use it.all he seems interested in is talkin s**te on twitter not playin ball

Ed016, I rate him as a talented player and he has to have some type of laziness issue - he never earned his starting spot in practice! But I don't think he's terrible.

McSnuggles

I agre with you mrsnuggles i remember first watching him for holland u 21s in a tournament few years back before he joined us they had a great young team think they won it that year drente played as well for them but babel was the standout player reminded me of a young henry he has the talent but lacked maturity at times he needs a good man manager to put an arm around him to get the best out of him -marky

Come on limerick

He is a talented player but very lazy and has the wrong attitude.

I wouldn't want him back at LFC.

Ed016...I'm guessing you haven't seen Downing play?

21 Jun 2012 14:59:38
Eds do you know if we are actually after Borini, or is it just speculation? cheers {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

21 Jun 2012 14:44:21
scott dann to be handed his dream move to liverpool

Like h*** he's been relegated 2 seasons in a row

Since his defensive record has seen both his last two teams get relegated, i can only assume he would be bought in for if skrtel and agger both leave, carra retires and Seb, Kelly, Wilson and Coady are all injured.

We were interested in Scott last year but Comoli didn't think he was the worth money quoted for him even though KD wanted him and we opted for Coates, I know we paid more for Coates than Scott went to Blackburn for but Comoli obviously rated him for the price we paid

You should turn off the playstation lad.
derryred

I recall a LOT of posters on here screaming that we'd missed out on another super player when we failed to sign him last time.Having watched him on t.v. last season I'd say we missed out on nothing much.Mind you the same howls went up when we didn't sign Connor Whickham.Connor who?

Must be signing for the Bitters then 'cause he ain't good enough for LFC.

Dream for him,nightmare for us.....

21 Jun 2012 14:35:26
What is the availability status of Patrick Herrmann (Borrusia M.) and Julian Draxler (Shalke)? They are great young players and playing at positions we need to strenght. {Ed002's Note - Not available.}

21 Jun 2012 14:25:34
Why would we want to sell Martin Skrtel for £20m? He had a slow start to his Liverpool career but the last 18 months has showed what a real class act he is.
I'd laugh at City for £20m. We lose a top player, get £20m (which doesnt go all that far these days) and have to buy somebody for atleast £10m who has too settle in, why put ourselves in that position?
Then if Skrtel does infact hand a transfer request in because his head has been turned, sell him, and make a deal with City to get Adam Johnson along with say £15m for Skrtel.
That way we solve one of our attacking weaknesses and have money to replace Skrtel.

RedHawk

In my opinion Martin Skrtel was Liverpool's player of the season last year. His playing time on the pitch was a significant factor in reaching that level. I hope these rumours are false as his name should be very high on the current teamsheet.

I love our big man in defense but Man city to give Adam Johnson plus £15 million! Not a chance and that would be a deal nobody would refuse

gareth

20m id snap their hands off. i really dont think he's that good. im sure we could find a player of equal quality for about 10m. better again! give us adam johnson and 10m and id be a happy camper.......would hate to see agger go though, think he's genuine class. if i was mancini he's the one id be trying to sign

Citys got at 3 players that we could use that are looking for an out .
Richards ,Johnson and De Jong
Martin Skrtel could finance the deal with cash going to City ,Richards or Coates can cover Skrtels position its up to BR personally I would sell great deal for Liverpool if its possible

McGurk

With all the speculation about REINA,SKRTL and AGGER I think were in for a very uneasy season, if players were
happy with there lot there wouldn't be
any speculation,I sence the rats are deserting a sinking ship........

auntie annie.....

He wants to jump ship and warm the city bench. one good season and hes bigger than the club. good bye martin

heard from a reliable source that liverpool will attempt to sign denis stracqualursi for a price of around 3 million from argentine club tigre. The big argentine had a mixed season on loan at arch rivals Everton, however new manager Rodgers was an admirer of the big Argentine and would love to add him to strike force.

What a load of absolute rubbish

That is quite possibly one of the worst posts i have ever seen on this site. Utter lies.
If you are going to lie at least let it have a semblance of plausibility!!

I also heard Brendan was considering a move for Per Koldrup, although he didnt make it at Everton, Brendan thinks he can do a job for us.

I think he is considering steve marlet and Alex Nyarko

Eds, would it be possible to include a "Bitter Alert" button for posts such as these? {Ed002's Note - It'll only lead to demands for a Lager button.}

No chance, his name is far too hard to make a song for.

I believe it and he'll join us right after we re-sign Voronin!

21 Jun 2012 14:02:35
Ed's any chance of de Rossi? Spoken of his admiration of the premier league and gerrard recently... Think of having Lucas de Rossi and gerrard in the midfield against west brom on the 18th of august! Just a thought.
Callum
YNWA {Ed002's Note - I doubt it.}

Lads he said something nice about gerrard on the liverpool home site......RELAX THE BATTY

Is he speaking about Daniele De Rossi Eds?
If he is, i doubt he will leave Roma, he is as loyal as Gerrard is to Liverpool. {Ed002's Note - He is.}

21 Jun 2012 13:53:19
Hey Ed, where is Adebayor going to end up? Any chance of a move to Liverpool? Even on a season long loan? Great striker when he's motivated.

Mantis {Ed002's Note - I don't see Adebayor at Liverpool next season.}

Not even playing for the opposition, Ed002?

Keith {Ed002's Note - No. He will have a slight knock on the knee for that game and won't be risked.}

His wages are astronomical so even as a loan player he's not cheap.And in all honesty not a player I'd want in our team.

Gylfi Sigurdsson is choosing between Spurs,Liverpool and Man Utd.

Very strong source.

Rambowich

Thats us out the running then

Spurs don't even have a manager and Man Utd just spent £20 mill plus on kagawa, doesn't make sense.

Jordan

So he will speak to spurs even though they have no manager which is the reason why he wouldn't speak to Swansea? Your source is pap sir. He will sign for Liverpool.
Red sheep.

What about Swansea?
I will be very surprised if he is not at LFC next season.Just hope he continues to fulfill his promise.

Funny that he was nailed on for Swansea when BR was there. He stated that BR was the primary reason for moving. So, why would LFC still not be in prime spot to capture his signature? Besides, not sure he would be first choice at Utd, and Spurs are still choosing a new manager so won't be too appealing for any new potential signing until they can be sure of being in the new man's plans. My reading is that LFC are still in the box seat on this.

I know for a fact United are NOT in the running.. spurs I'd very much doubt

Wont be Spurs as they have NO manager you nuggett

21 Jun 2012 13:49:55
Brendan Rodgers' first signing of the season could be Fabio Borini, according to Gazetta Dello Sport. They say Liverpool could land Borini - who helped Swansea in their promotion year - for £10m as soon as his co-ownership issues are sorted.

21 Jun 2012 13:44:38
Eds. Apparently AC Milan have reported Flamini is to leave the club after contract talks failed. Because of this, they might be ready to take Aqualini back as his replacement. Is there a chance of Liverpool cutting a deal for both players as a Swap and Cash deal. I remember Flamini when he was at Arsenal and was a brilliant Midfielder for them. {Ed002's Note - Not if they have released him.}

Brilliant midfielder for them? He was not even a regular for them, was used a sub mostly

Sounds like a great bit of business, swap our player who we paid 20m for with a free agent. [FR]

No to Flamini at LFC. He simply isn't good enough. If they want Aquilani then they should send a stamp addressed envelope to Anfield and I am sure LFC will send him over there.

21 Jun 2012 13:22:35
Hi ed just wondering how much u know about a lot of people seem to believe his rumours on twitter and he's written we have genuine interest in borini cheers
Laylow {Ed002's Note - I don't know of anything firm about Borini and certainly nothing whilst his ownership is still being resolved. I doubt he would want to return to England so soon.}

21 Jun 2012 13:05:38
Gylfi Sigurdsson will speak new Swansea manager Michael Laudrup before speaking to Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers. No bid has been made by Liverpool but Hoffenheim have given Liverpool permission to speak to him and Sigurdsson will speak to Liverpool before deciding what to do. Also a fee has to be agreed if he does decide to join Liverpool. It's no set in stone that he will join Liverpool, Swansea have made a major coup in getting Laudrup and they hope he can persuade Sigurdsson to sign permanently. I can say that no other clubs have made any move for Gylfi.

Thanks Markolfc85

Im not one to critisize but this information was given out 2 weeks ago. Stop sourcing information tgen saying i told you so because i guarentee that hoffenhejn would not let a player speak to a club without a offer.

Scouse ben

Your story is a week old lad! That was breaking news on the same day Laudrup signed!

Would be disappointing if we did not get him now. , but I am sure Rogers has things under control.
CR

Big news about Gylfi tomorrow.. my guess is he is signing to Liverpool

So no bid has been made by liverpool yet they have agreed a fee?! should this post not have been put on the 'jokes of the day' site edd lol, ah well, they make me giggle and help the day go by
john

Don't understand the " major coup " statement - Laudrup was out of work as far as being a manager is concerned, and Swansea are in PL - a league where most out of work managers would gladly accept a job.

John B

Taking a long time this,should have been sorted by now.

Great site eds keep up the good work.

If skertel was to leave who do yous,personally, think would be the most likley and the best option.

Also any chance of dede?

Cheers

IrishRed {Ed002's Note - I gave a rationale as to why Kjaer may be a viable option.

Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Fiorentina, Benfica and Roma have shown an interest in Dede over the past couple of years but AC Milan, Juventus, Manchester United and Bayern Munich retain a serious interest in the player. Anzhi may look to make a bid in the summer but would prefer to wait until the end of the season in December.}

Hi Eds & Reds

Just quick question in relation to the Olympics, with Bellers and Suarez looking likely to go to Olympics and with Carroll going to be given a few weeks off after Euros, do you think we might sign 2 strikers, baring the Europa league starting at start of August.

Are there any othe LFC players in contention for Olympic squad? ie Wilson or Shelvey?

Rebel_Red {Ed002's Note - Liverpool will not sign players as cover for those at the Olympics, but if players are leaving they will likely sign more players.}

What person added football to the olympics.As if we do not have enough to handle with World Cup, Euro cup etc in addition to europa league, Cl and regular league and cup games !

Luis Suarez will not be leaving Liverpool Football Club.

21 Jun 2012 12:16:11
Ed, should Skrtel leave would we have any chance at all of one from these three?
Howedes
Vertonghen, whom advanced talks with spurs seems to slow down
Caulker {Ed028's Note - i think if Skrtel ever goes Coates will be his replacement.}

Is that a joke. We will sell our best player last season and replace him with a kid. Its like Hicks and gillet again

Then how would the kids play, if you dont give them a chance?

Every good player has been a kid at some point in their life mate. Coates is a top defender and will only get better

21 Jun 2012 12:28:09
I am very surprised that everyone wants to sell skrtel.
Our center backs are:
1. Agger - top class but injury prone
2. Skrtel - Very good player and has a good partnership with agger
3. Carragher - Past his prime.
4. Coates - top talent. but still unproven
5. Kelly - top talent but unproven at CB and injury prone

If we do sell Skrtel, we will have to replace him. I am all in to promote youth but it is too early for coates to be playing every match. Remember we will be playing on thursday nights so we have to factor in fatigue and possible injuries as well. I would only want to buy someone who as good as or better that Skrtel. But there aren't that many who are available for below 15m, not demanding high wages, would want to leave their current clubs and join liverpool. and we would also have stiff competition from other clubs. considering all this it would be hard to find someone to replace skrtel. even if we did get someone for under 15m including the signing on fee, agent fee etc wouldn't it be safer to dig a bit deeper into our pockets and get 5m than selling skrtel.

But in the end its up to the manager and owners. this is exactly the kind of business that the owners would push for. but i will be disappointed if we do sell him.

oldmonk

What about Adam Jonnson and Micah Richards in swap for Skrtel? Maybe dreaming, but that would be a good deal.........

You say that Coates is 'unproven' but if he's not playing how can he prove himself?

I think simon kjaer would be a perfect replacement for skrtel, already has a good understanding with agger at international level they played really well together during the euros, he's fallen out with his parent club and is almost certainly on the way out and with roma haggling about the option to buy after his loan (what a surprise there eh,sounds like juve and milan a la aqualini all over again) then he would be available, not sure if he'd be available for less than we get for skrtel (maybe the ed's would have some idea on price) but a very good option obviously depending on what the manager thinks

There are plenty of decent replacements around - Benatia, M'Bia, Yanga-Mbiwa, tasci, Reinarz, Kjaer, Ogbonna, Botia...

Skrtel = Very good player, but very clumsy and tends to give away FK's in dangerous areas!

I've seen it quoted that his price is 20 million!!on what planet is he worth 20million,,,madness

21 Jun 2012 12:27:16
About to do what I normally complain about and ask about someone because of a media story so I apologise in advance Ed's. Feel free to tell me to get lost lol.

Basically after reading what De Rossi said about Gerrard, and then what he said about wanting to play in England and has 'offers', is there any chance that he could end up in a Liverpool shirt? I know its fairly unrealistic but I want to dream for a little bit!

Muzzafan {Ed002's Note - I suspect he is referring to interest from Manchester City. I don't know of any interest from Liverpool.}

If you already know De Rossi to Liverpool is unrealistic then why are you asking?

21 Jun 2012 12:23:59
And now the Flamini rumours begin.....

21 Jun 2012 10:34:19
If skrtel leaves is there any chance of m.richards from city to replace him in the CB role.

21 Jun 2012 11:56:15
edd is there intrest in mathias suarez? will he get him work permit? luis and mathias up front will secure top 4 {Ed002's Note - Liverpool along with Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Newscastle, Lazio and Juventus have shown an interest in Matias Suarez.}

21 Jun 2012 11:56:11
Hey EDs, just wondering if there's any interest in Musacchio of Villarreal? I think he'd be an excellent addition if Skrtel leaves.

Cheers,

MansfieldRED {Ed002's Note - Musacchio would likely not be available and if he were a move to England would be unlikely in my view.}

i think if man city are offering 20mil for skertle should it not just be a matter of a straight swap for richards and jhonston? what ypu think eds? first time poster thanks! {Ed002's Note - The value of the two MCFC players you mention is more than £20M and the chances of them selling Richards are slim.}

We should offer around 10 million and skrtel for them, and ed why would city not sell richards he hardly gets a game {Ed002's Note - He is seen as a valuable part of their squad and if he does move I do not antipate it will be to Liverpool.}

So you want to swap Englands first choice right back for Englands 4th choice right back?

Brilliant strategy!!

By the way, we also have Englands 3rd choice rightback in Martin Kelly!

Red G

Just realised that you may have meant Adam Johnson, rather than Richards for Johnson.

I stand corrected (said the man with the authopedic shoes).

Red G

Could not see that happening but would be a cute piece of business, I know exchanges are rare but I think Johnson and Richards for Skrtle plus maybe 5 million would be a great deal

Muller

We should definatly star playing hard ball with these clubs, a.johnson and richards for skyrtle sounds like a good bit of business for both clubs, its not like they are first team players more like squad players.
we should of done exactly the same with madri over alonso, i would of taken snidjer,van der vart and higuain or told them to bollox
Jaydee YNWA

Ed002,
Is it any coincidence that City are sniffing around Skrtel as Barca are interested in Kompany ?
Or is Skrtel cover for them, if he went, do you think ?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Barcelona's real interest is in Thiago Silva, and then probably Sakho.}

Have you ever thought that they might not want to move? No chance of getting both in a swap.

I don't understand where the assertion that Richards doesn't get a game for city comes from. He made 37 appearances last year. Skrtel made 36 appearances.

21 Jun 2012 10:03:25
Ed is it true that arsenal are going in for ozil as I would be gutted if they pulled that off as it would leave us so far behind

Thanks {Ed002's Note - I doubt that Oezil will be signing for Arsenal.}

Nah I cant see that happening.. there's tons of rumours going around.. dont beleive them till they happen its rediculous

We cannot dictate what other clubs do. If they want him and we don't what is the problem. They can only play 11 a side same as us.

Ed2 it's Ozil. {Ed002's Note - Try not to show you ignorance about umlaut usage.}

Ed how come you spell him Oezil instead of Ozil? {Ed002's Note - Because I cannot easily recall to command for an umlaut and it is how it should be written without.}

Try not to show your ignorance that he has Ozil on the back of his shirt. {Ed002's Note - With an umlaut. Jerk.}

That last comment wasn't me.. suppose that does make sense ed! {Ed002's Note - I assume it was a Sheffield United supporter deliberately embarrassing himself.}

If Martin wanted to leave and City were willing to pay us 20 mill. I would drive Skrtel to the Etihad.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

I must agree with you mate

Haha I wud to. As a matter of fact I would thank him!

I think he is one of our expendable assets. He has done a good job but theres always a mistake around the corner with him
DAR

They can have Martin, but the deal would have to involve Richards and Johnson, if that could be negotiated I would be over the moon, even if it meant us paying a small amount on top.

Are all you's mad he's being our most consint player the last two year

I'd like to do a player swap with us getin de-jong and adam johnson

"They can have Martin, but the deal would have to involve Richards and Johnson, if that could be negotiated I would be over the moon, even if it meant us paying a small amount on top."

There is so little sense in that it's unreal!

Given that City dished out £22m for a 26year old Lescott, I think we should be looking for £20-£25m for the Turtle, however given our track record with sales, we'll probably swap him for Bridge!

I'd happily sell to City if we could try and also negotiate some form of loan deal for one of their stars they inevitably won't be able to accommodate in their squad next season too, again though, we'd probably end up with Wayne.

Dan

I can imagine it now, "Oi Martin, get in the van!"

Jolly Red

I wouldnt take adam johnson, but yes id take micah richards, mancini seems to play him less at the end of the season, more of zabaletta, come on, go for richards, he can play rb, cb.

Kaizer

Why is there so little sense in that, skrtel isnt for sale, if you want him we want these two players to be involved in the deal (you said yourself our negotiations are usually shocking), obviously there combined value in my opinion is greater than skrtel's, but I see those two players involved in the deal as good business, don't get me wrong skrtel played well last year, but in my opinion (and that's wha this is) if we parted with skrtel, and some cash and got a straight replacement in Richards and some much needed width in Johnson I would be delighted. And as a kop season ticket holder of 25 years I like to think I have an opinion.

So City flash their wad and that's it...get rid!
Me thinks not, we have a pretty good backline which, if we start changing will mean bedding in someone new hoping that whoever it is can complement Agger. Skrtel's been one of our best players the last couple of seasons.

The only reason I can think of selling him is because his value may now start to depreciate with his age.

dmedly

DAN- why are you so negative thinking. We have different people doing the business these days. For goodness sake give them some credit and take a more optimistic view. You will lead a happier life for it I am sure.
CR

I think we should offer him a new contract! Him and agger!

Agger is by a mile our best defender he even makes the Danish lad for the national side. Skrtel, poor in the air, bad with it at his feet. Let him go we have plenty of cover

Oh yeah, he was only our best and most important player last year!!

Richards is the Vice Captain of the league champions, who pays in 3/4's of their games with a team looking to progress far in the Champions league (I wouldn't be surprised if winning it wasn't there key priority this year over the league) he wouldn't want to come to us.

We could at best hope for the players City don't want/need any more.

Dan

"Why is there so little sense in that, skrtel isnt for sale, if you want him we want these two players to be involved in the deal (you said yourself our negotiations are usually shocking), obviously there combined value in my opinion is greater than skrtel's, but I see those two players involved in the deal as good business, don't get me wrong skrtel played well last year, but in my opinion (and that's wha this is) if we parted with skrtel, and some cash and got a straight replacement in Richards and some much needed width in Johnson I would be delighted. So what if you're a ST? Does an ST have more of an opinion than a member? or even an armchair fan? No.

Of course you have an opinion and you're entitled to it. But think about what you are suggesting: Liverpool should only sell Skrtel in a swap deal + cash for Johnson and Richard, here are my reasons for that proposal making little to no sense:

1. Richards is alone equally or more valuable than Skrtel due to factors such as Skill, Age, Position versatility and home grown status.
2. Wages - Whatever Turtle is on I guarantee it is less than either Richards or Johnson, say MS is on £60k, MR is on £70k and AJ is on £100 (all guesses but the point remains) we would need to pay at least the same over the two players on 4/5 year deals - that's an increase on our wage bill of £110k+ a week, which is 5.75m per year increase for 1 additional player. If we are in a position to offer such high wages for 1 player, priorities may be focused to other positions (natural finisher for example)
3. Home grown status, City would be removing 2 of there home grown players from their quota for their 25 man squad, but filling one with ANOTHER foreigner meaning they need to replace another current international squad player with a homegrown, whether purchased or promoted, we all know city have challenges with getting their 25 player squad anyway due to the amount of players they have, before factoring the home grown.
4.Richards is Vice captain of league champs and will play a big part of their season next year (at least 2/3's of their games) and they are pushing for European glory now, as well as more domestic trophies -What appeal would he have to leave that for LFC, in all honesty, he has no reason to no matter how great we think the prospect of playing for LFC is, he wouldn't be as forthcoming given his current clubs position, and increased chances of more success. Johnson on the other hand is frustrated by lack of chances, and would be more accommodating to LFC and the chance of first team football (something Richards already has there.) - If Johnson was guaranteed it at City, he wouldn't give a thought to LFC either.

As you say it's all opinions, we don't work for LFC and definitely do not understand the in's and outs of the club like the people making these decisions, but these sort of debates just add to the fun of being a fan.

Dan

CR - It's not so much negative thinking as realistic.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to be sat here typing away about how excited I was that we were in the market for 5 world class players like Cavanni's and co, and how wages and other clubs statures wouldn't need to be considered ect ect, but unfortunately we are not in that sort of position at the moment, we are a club in transition, hopefully 1 season away from being back in the mix with the best and completing for everything, but right now we are not there and we will not be a hugely appealing prospect to many established top players, we need to hunt to find gems, bring in the up and comers, take chances on wild card players, pay premium pricess for lower clubs best assets (AC, SD, CA ect) but get them on better wages.

I'm optimistic in terms of Liverpool, I have blind faith in Carroll being a 20 goal a season star for us and BR making us play mouth watering, winning football. I am not however optimistic that if we went to City and said "Hi have Skrtel and 10m and we'll take Richards and Johnson"..."ok." I would absolutely love it if we got them, but we won't, Johnson maybe, although a lot of what I've read from Eds and co makes me think he's an person and wouldn't help off the field in terms of team moral and such.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to be proved wrong, but as it stands we attract players this Sigi and managers like BR, not the Richards and Mourinho's, we aren't there yet, but we will be.

For 20mil I would take their arms off! We have big Seb who could easily do his job and another 20 mil to spend in the summer. All these people saying we cant attract top players should stay hush, bottom line is that money talks and players will sign if the money is right!

All I am saying dan is As you stated yourself a deal that is more heavily waited in our direction, I am quite happy to keep skrtel he's a good player (not a great player, he's had 1 good season) for me Richards is a better player, I believe (my opinion) we lack pace at the back, Johnson is a player I rate highly, I'm not talking about what they earn, this is a rumours sites, I don't negotiate the wages for Liverpool, if targets we go after wont agree to fit into our pay structure we move on.

21 Jun 2012 09:23:32
i dont understand what the fuss is over us not getting De Jong. I've watched a bit of him and whilst he's not bad i really dont think he will set the world on fire. he actually looks pretty slow. liverpool need some pace. ed's any strikers being linked with liverpool? {Ed002's Note - Nothing new.}

I agree....another one who scores freely in the sub-standard eredivisie , but will prob struggle in the prem

shushyboy

My Dutch friend says he`s a faster version of Kuyt, so that`s 110% little awareness or skill then but faster!

I agree mate. said this a while back and got loads of dislikes! looks proper average. though no doubt if he signs for Newcastle he'll turn into a boss striker!

21 Jun 2012 08:51:40
If Man City are prepared to pay 20 million for Skrtel I'd take the money and run.

Skrtel has had one good season with us, in a season when the rest of the team was awful, and yes he deserved the clubs player of the year.

But besides last season the previous seasons he's been in and out of the team (competing against an ageing Carra) and at best has been only average.

One good season doesn't make Skrtle world class and the best CB we have. People need to remember back to all the stupid needless clumsy free kicks he's given away around the edge of the box that have resulted in goals for the opposition.

If Man City are prepared to throw 20 million at us for his services we would be mad to turn that down. We already have Coates who I think has a big say in next seasons campaign, we also have Kelly who is a natural CB who's currently playing out of position. With 20 million we could buy a far better replacement plus have money left to put towards a winger.

20 million for Skrtel....lol

Curled1

He has had two good seasons actually!

And his partnership with Agger is one of the best in the premiership.

Im guessing it will come down to Rodgers and if he believes Skrtel to be part of his plans if he does or doesn't it wont be money driven.

NS

I would accept a straight swap, Skrtel for A. Johnson. We have plenty of cover at centre half, coates can take his chance.
Liverbird09

I agree with you , he has had one good season and he still made a few mistake and looked exposed when agger was not playing , plus we have seb coates to come in , the more he plays the more he will shine ,,,,,,,,,mickey b

Got to remember 20m providing he puts in a transfer request is good but got to replace all this talk about having one good year is nonsence he i understand it was his best year yes if he is to leave we have to bleed every last penny possible as we all know they have it and they did pay 24m for lescott

Agree. Although he is a good defender, he only has improved with the return of agger from injury, but when he was injured in the latter half of the season, he was back to what he was before. I would be worried if it were agger instead, but skrtel, not as much because he is easily replaceable, especially when we are given 20M for him!

Who would we get to replace him if he did go? All the world class defenders would never come to our club, so it leaves people like Kjaer and Shawcross. Verthonghan is going to Spurs, Sakho wants to go to Arsenal. 20 million is a good offer but Lescott went for 23 million. I think we should hold out for a little more.

"Who would we get to replace him if he did go? All the world class defenders would never come to our club, so it leaves people like Kjaer and Shawcross. Verthonghan is going to Spurs, Sakho wants to go to Arsenal. 20 million is a good offer but Lescott went for 23 million. I think we should hold out for a little more" Its rare to have lfc fan who use their brain and well said to the guy who wrote the above. I dont think the other replies who will happilly sell skrtel and agger are lfc fans after all anybody can write here.

We have enough CBS coming through the acedemy plus Kelly and Coates so we should be fine and I'm sure lucus reading of the game would allow us to play cb in an emergency I would spend money on a versatile player a top striker new keeper to replace reina a am and a winger
-Ramirez
-Munian (we can afford these due to skrtel and reina)
-de Jong
-Isla if still available
-goal keeper their is a lot of good ones out their for relatively cheap you could also look in the lower leagues for a good young keeper

This will only leave us with a net spend of around 25 million and we have a scary young team that will only get better

I also think we should sell spearing and get aqua and cole off the wage bill

Thanks

According to * fans* comments above let's sell Gerard, reina, skertel, agger, suarez and most importantly lucas and Sterling. We will get around 140m, buy fans favorite players even if they don't want to play for us, we may use force if the resist. Or we may buy young talent like tello put them with henderson, andy etc and wait for another 5 or 7(lucas) years till they are matured to get a trophy or better sell them and continue the loop.

Arvin

Skrtel (25million) = A. Johnson (10million) + Dzenko (14 million) (striker) + K. Toure (1 million). K Toure will be good cover for skrtel since we will have coates, agger, carra, wilson, kelly....maybe can buy Hangeland (fulham defender) too and with one player we will be able to cover 3 positions.....dreamland......

I know players (forget Gerrard maybe) can be replaced, but as last season showed, I don't want too much disruption to the so called first team! 'If' Skrtel does want out of Liverpool and a big if might I say, then let's do it soon so a replacement can be found to either cover Coates coming in or to partner Agger! Still like to believe this story, as I saw the pride Martin had on his face when getting the player of the season trophy!

Keith

We paid £20m for Downing £20m is therefore a steal !

Stop under estimating how good he actually is. 8th in the league, one of the best defenses in league - go figure

GET REAL

The comment above about players from man city is incredible.It could never happen and unless you have had your head in the sand,you must realise that we are trying to reduce the wage bills,not taking on players on 100k p/week.

If we sold Skrtel I think I could be about time Kelly stepped up and moved to centre back to partner Agger! Maybe 5M plus Adam Johnson I'd be happy.

He has had two good seasons ,and the season before last in which you say he was in and out he was in fact the most consistant player we had.

6m and Adam Johnson would be fair for both parties surely? City won't sell us Richards but they will sell us Johnson...

Johnson and 6m - we have our cover for the wings then, and the majority of Sigurdsons transfer fee paid for with Kuyts 1m added to it. Give coates and Kelly a chance at CB with Agger, and we always have Carra to fill in for another season while Kelly and Coates find their feet. Skrtel is good but he isnt 20m good and we should cash in at that price.

Os Red

I'm not even from Liverpool, and i do believe Coates needs a chance, while being starting defender in 4th strongest national team in the world...
But Martin is a part of that feeling that i have for Liverpool, and it would be really sad to see him go.

It is agger who is the best!!!!!!!

I would sell him in the first offer then sign Howedes for 13 million and go for the remaining 7 million for sigurdson!

Where would you run to? even dirk would catch you .

21 Jun 2012 09:01:45
morning eds,

regarding transfers, do you think ms will be sold along with pr?

Also what is happening with sigs any info please

Thanks

Lisa {Ed002's Note - If either player wishes to leave they will need to hand in a transfer request I would think. Right now I don't know. As for Sigurdsson, I would expect some news very shortly.}

Hope so

If we sign Sign sigurdsson we better look out for Rooney cos once he finds out there's a new "Gilf" on merseyside ...

Whos pr?

Kaizer {Ed002's Note - I assumed Reina.}

Why not write skrtyl and Reina instead of their initials !

21 Jun 2012 08:23:44
According to Thijs Slegers (writer for dutch football magazine VI) AC Milan not interested in a goalkeeper. There were rumours about them going for Tyton of PSV but was rubbished by him. So Reina seems to be staying.

Reina was always staying, it was just paper garbage as is 90 % of the LFC rumours.

21 Jun 2012 08:23:14
on the bbc gossip page it says city are preparing a £20 million offer for skrtel.

pack your bags martin im coming for you.

You might want to check the definition of "Gossip".

BBC saying man city going to bid 20 mil for skrtel. Is that an offer we would be silly to refuse ? What do you think / know edd's, thanx Essexlad {Ed005's Note - They're interested and Thiago Silva seems very unlikely to they'll move for someone else now. £20m would be a good offer for Skrtel.}

Nope, the BBC only quoted the Daily Mirror. Big difference.

Hi Eds,

Although 20M is a good offer in terms of market value, MS has been one of our most consistent performers over the last 2 or 3 years. I seem to remember him playing every game of the season a year ago. 20M is good value, but unless an adequate replacement is ready then it would be stupid business. We are trying to catch up to the top teams, not get further behind. Agger will not be fit all season as his injury record has proved and tbh I didn't think he was great at the Euros (apart from 1st game). I think our fans should be careful what they wish for and juding by our owners 'lack of cash' or unwillingness/ incapability to compete with the likes of Chelsea/ Man City etc. I could see us buying a youngster or promoting someone to the first team. Being difficult to beat should form the basis of a successful team and to do this you will inevitably need 3 (preferably 4) excellent centre backs...

21 Jun 2012 07:47:55
Morning Ed, should Skrtel leave would we have any chance at all of one from these three?
Kjaer
Sakho
Subotic

Cheers
Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Kjaer is in limbo right now. If Roma don't want him or cannot agree a revised deal with Wolfsburg then he will be available. I doubt that Subotic is an option. Sakho will be an option but most unikely to move to Liverpool Chris.}

I'd take any of the three mentioned over Skrtel.

Especially Subo.

Mohammed DIAME had a medical at West Ham. {Ed002's Note - And agreed to join them.}

That was probably a wise decision although I would have liked him at Liverpool

Good he not good enough for the reds

Thank god no way good enough for liverpool

21 Jun 2012 05:36:03
hey ed, if skrtel is sold do you thing we will get douglas, and if so how much would he cost? he plays in the erdivisle for Fc Twente i think (not sure)

Cheers, Zincho {Ed002's Note - I really don't know given there is no interest in Douglas from Liverpool. Newcastle, Aston Villa, Juventus, Ruben Kazan and Ajax are interested in Douglas.}

Hey why don't well sell Skyrtel, why don't well sell everyone.

We could even sell the trademark "Liverpool FC" to a Chinese club oops "soccer brand". As long as it gives Tom and John some money to buy a new yacht. Poor things, they don't grow on trees do they?

Douglas...what a fantastic little trombone player he was.

Was just wondering in case liverpool sold him but i dont want liverpool to sell him

Cheers,Zincho

Hey Eds, thanks for all your work on the site. Since it looks like he'll be leaving Milan, would Flamini be a realistic option? {Ed005's Note - I hope not but unlikely, high wages, age.}

Will Milan increase interest in aquilani?

That would be awesome get a load of money and offload Aqua sweet deal.

21 Jun 2012 03:48:52
Michael Vorm will replace Reina

Michael Vorm cannot replace Reina for another 12months keep up mate.

We will not be able to get Vorm for a start because Swansea have put a 12 month transfer ban on us, so we can't sign any of their players, the only reason we can get sigurdsson is because he is a hoffenheim player and was at swansea only on loan

You do realize we can't sign players from swansea for a year

Reina is not going and we cannot approach Vorm as he is a Swansea player.

How is this meant to work exactly when there is a year long agreement that Rodgers cannot purchase any Swansea players?

Not for at least another 12 months he won't

Not this season!

No contract is unbreakable if the right amount of money is on the table. Deja vu!!

Arvin {Ed002's Note - Certainly a great way to drag the reputation of the club further down the pan.}

Srry for my translation the bread and butter of football is trophy. we could do nothing to stop torres, macherano, xabi(under contract) to leave, did it raise our reputation, did any body care about chelsea, barca and real reputation, they won so many trophies. Does the media continuously hammer them and drag their reputation further down the pan? After 20 or 30 yrs nobody will remember player broke their contract to join them.

What is the reputation of barca they keep poaching players. What can we do? They are still among the world most popular team.if you were a player would you resist playing for a bigger team.

When we cant keep our players then why other team can? look at the comedy played by Aquilani we have lost so many M . What happen to the reputation of the team who took him on loan, they are making us look like a fool.

I am not saying we shouldn't care about our reputation. I think the team do alot more off field to have a good reputation. When other team are playing football we should play football and not softball.

srry editor if i am against you on this point and on your turf. Accept my apology if it isnt well accepted. btw you look quite connected with football. maybe an editor profile page would give us a brighter picture of the persons we have been following for years.

Arvin

Sorrt mate but NO he will not and could not replace riena, i dont no what everyone sees in vorm i think he is terrible and a championship standard keeper at best !!!!

We have to wait 1 year :L

I wouldn't mind seeing Doni replace Reina for this season if we got a £25m offer for him and if we got a £20m offer for skrtel we should take it. Coates is more than able and there is also Carragher to take some pressure off just and knowing that we also have Kelly who plays CB regularly for England u21 and Sama who just needs match experience.

Also selling; Adam, Spearing, Aquilani, Downing, Maxi, Wilson and Pacheco for around £22m, that would be £67m in total to spend just from player sales.

That would give us the money to spend confidently on A Class player like
Muniain; Winger, £25m

along with;
Milos Krasic; RW, 6m
Henri Bedimo; LB, 5m
Cristian Tello; FWD, 7m
Gylfi Sigurdsson; AM, 8.5m
Raul Garica; CM, 6.5m
Fabio Borini; ST, 10m

All for a total of £68m - 67m = a net spending of 1-5m.

You could argue that yeah all those players would need to adapt etc etc but Newcastle basically done the same thing in the summer of 2011 and they did just fine.

Remembering that 4 out of the 7 are replacements for LB cover, CM cover, Striker depth and first team Left Winger.

With the other 3 much needed; first team Right Winger, an attacking midfielder and a young "Moneyball" Forward that can't be passed up.

21 Jun 2012 02:48:46
With our apparent interest in a loan move for Luc Castaignos back in January.
Could there still be interest within the club for the young Dutchman? As he seems to be on his way out or Inter, maybe for good.

Or was the interest shown only from Kenny?

Red7.

All interest in him has gone mate.

21 Jun 2012 01:37:49
did sigurdsson have a medical today at reading sly sports are saying he has... any truth

lfc89

No it hasnt

I think you misheard my friend. I believe it was Pavel Pobgrebnyiak (the russian, please excuse the spelling.) He spent the last 6 months of last season at Fulham

Mornin eds all this talk of reina leaving I hope its just gossip but if not an he wants to go I think we should go back for nikolay mylihov. From fc twente we put a cluase in his contract I think wen we sold him he would be happy to move back despite ac milans intrest {Ed002's Note - A clause in his contract?}

21 Jun 2012 01:20:05
Is there any interest at all in Robert Lewandowski Ed's? I think he would be the perfect striker for us. How much would he be available for? {Ed005's Note - As ED002 has stated he has been watched but nothing more.}

I watched him at the Euros

Believe everton are looking at him, a kind of peanut for golum staying!

21 Jun 2012 00:31:55
I really dont want reina to leave, but if he does get sold.. who would be a possible replacement? have we scouted any keepers recently? and what is your opinion, do you expect him to leave or not?

Please post, and id appreciate a response!
Iaaaaan

Ac milan will not be playin 20+ mill euro for reina, and just because stegan is good on fifa dont mean he is the buiness in real life! he was a long way to go!

billynwa

Any chance of a response eds? {Ed005's Note - You didn't ask the eds for one? And know nothing of a possible replacement as we don't plan on losing Reina.}

Lloris!

Craig Gordon good keeper wouldnt cost much bad injury sorted could be a bargain

Alan Mc Gregor from Rangers would be an excellent buy £5 or £6 million very capable

21 Jun 2012 00:06:09
Personally I think Fabio Borini would be a good signing, boy seems to score goals wherever he goes, what do you think Eds?

Irish redman {Ed005's Note - I haven't seen much of him mate I just heard he was a good finisher, quick and direct and needed experience as he lacks mentally but that comes with experience.}

He's the kind of player I think that he'll always come up with a goals and imagine him playing with Suarez and Carroll in a dangerous attacking 3! And with Sigurdsson (hopefully) behind them with Gerrard its scary to think what we could achieve, what you think ed005? {Ed005's Note - If he's as good as people say I'm sure he'll give us another good option mate now and for the future. I think Sigurdsson will be a great signing if he comes and will give us something we've missed!}

I see Borini has said "Rogers is like an uncle to me.He helped me at Chelsea" or words to that effect.
CR

A lot of Chelsea fans were disappointed he wasn't given a chance especially after last season, remember a free kick he scored for Swansea and I remember saying it was an amazing goal

I seen that free kick, the dip he put on the ball was amazing, think of Ronaldo's free kick vs Portsmouth and imagine it from 25 yards, that's what it was like!

Are liverpool buying Gastón Ramírez? - Bologna F.C.

Does anyone know if he is any good?

Class .

He's definitely good in my opinion. Don't see him coming though unless someone of equal stature were to leave though (although I would be quite happy to be wrong).

RDL

Gaston ramirez is pure class, id love to see him in our jersey, but i just cant see it happening...

20 Jun 2012 23:37:42
Ed what are the chances of Mats Hummels from Dortmund coming to Liverpool and Skrtel going the other way {Ed001's Note - none.}

But if we get 20-23m for Skrtel could we not at leasy make am audacious attempt eds?

Irish redman {Ed001's Note - not a hope in hell of him leaving them for us right now.}

Dortmund did need to sell a player due to financial distress. In 2010 they almost went bust. But Man utd got in their and bought that Shinji Kagawa player for 15million.

I think Mats Hummels is more important to the team formation than any other player in that team, but Dortmund will sell anyone if the price is right.

He would change us into a champions league club over night. The whole team would look like a different prospect. We could play a higher line without getting caught out. plus he likes to run with it and pass it. Something martin doesn't do. Very good heading too.

I would pay 35million for him. I think he would be worth it even if it is overspend. In the long run he would be our Alan Hansson, the one that saved lfc from mid-table.

I suppose Ed001 but there's no hurt in trying! For all we know he could be a 'pool fanatic. Anyway that's just wishful thinking from me, I think we should ask for Richards and a couple of million for Skrtel (great deal imo) or Godin

Irish redman

Ed001, I read you are editing the Spurs site. I can't go onto it because I use your mobile version. I have a brother who is a Spurs fan and he asked me if i'd heard any rumours on here concerning Bale and Modric. And will they leave? If so mate who to?

Thanks mate.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - I just cover all the sites mate, it is just that I had some info for them. As far as I am aware Bale is not close to going, Modric is likely to go abroad. Not sure 100%, the hold up on appointing the new manager was AVB wanted to keep Modric. So it could end up with the new manager getting his way and keeping Modric, as Blanc has also said he wants to keep him.}

Blanc and AVB are the favourites to get spurs job is it ed?

Welcome back ed001.

Do could you think of a defender that we could get who could replace skrtel? Also do you think if City make a 20m bid we should accept?

Gh*Lfc {Ed005's Note - Not Ed001 here mate but I'm sure there are many we could look at. Maybe it won't be a stella name people want such as Howdes but quality can be got.}

20 Jun 2012 23:20:13
£20m for Skrtel. From City, yes or no?

I would bite their hand off personally {Ed005's Note - I would also mate - because I think it's slightly above what he's worth and I personally feel we could suitably replace him with that and perhaps partly fund another player, or use it for Sigurdsson. I'm not saying we should activly seek to sell our players however this money could be useful.}

Sebastian Coats, isn't it time for him to set up to the first team and take over that role this season {Ed005's Note - But if Skrtel leaves we have lack of options at CB. Carragher is past his bes in my eyes and just good to have around because of experience, Kelly is good but if Johnson gets injured? Coates is good aswell but with effectivly 3 CBs ready to play and Agger isn't guaranteed to be fit all season. We need depth. Especially with the Europa League next season.}

I would defiantly take 20 million for skrtel. I like the lad but he has had one good season, and I don't rate him anywhere near agger. This isn't to say he has been poor for liverpool, on the contary he has been a committed servant to the club. I do however think there are center backs with more potential out there. Could potentially use the 20m for jagelika from that other club in Liverpool .

Wise rigglet

If the reds are "supposedly" interested in Johnson at City, maybe try get Micah Richards, add 10 million & Skrtle to sway the deal. Richards is solid at a few defensive positions & I think the reds would have a good deal,, Pity it wont happen though..

Let em have him, just demand a swap for adam johnson/

lfcscott

If were selling are best players to the
CHAMPIONS, please can someone
HONESTLY,HAND ON HEART tell me
how were ever going to catch these
teams if all were doing is making them
STRONGER.......EXPLAIN PLEEEEEASE.....

auntie annie............. {Ed005's Note - Oh dear are City signing Gerrard? Lucas? Suarez? Reina? Agger?}

20 Jun 2012 23:12:36
Hi eds. is it true we have bid 15 million euros for fabio borini ?

Nick upton 97 {Ed005's Note - No mate, there appears to be interest but that's it - no bid as of yet just lazy journalism. Saying that, we are interested in many players but they might not result in bids or even transfers in the future. We'll wait and see on that one.}

Cheers eds :)

20 Jun 2012 22:45:05
is it true that we are interested in Chile's international Matias Fernandez? I know West ham have put a bid of 5m......
Fuerthermore i'll like to know when we will have news of BR decision on Aquilani

20 Jun 2012 22:40:40
Would love to see De Rossi And Erik Lamela of AS Roma At Liverpool, Along with Jimmy Briand of Lyon! What are the chances of these happening ed?

I can actually answer this one - ZERO!

20 Jun 2012 22:38:50
I don't know where i've read this within the last week but it is quoted that Suarez is a big fan of G.Ramirez. Always helpful to give him a push to LFC's direction.
FowlerGod

I think Ramirez will end up at Liverpool

Because they are urugyuan teamates

Get serious Bro. Being fellow country mate doesn`t lead to a transfer and pliz get real.

Never indicated he was transferring to LFC. Having support from players who they already know and can speak the same language is very helpful.

Anything happening with moussa sissoko eds, just ask cuz i vaguely remember us bein interested in him an was wonderin if anything could potentially happen this summer with him? Cheers {Ed001's Note - I believe we have dropped our interest, though I do expect him to move this summer.}

20 Jun 2012 21:42:47
Ed's i know this has probably already been asked, but is there any chance of Suarez leaving this summer because Ian Abrahams has said he wouldn't be suprised if he went to juve. I know it probably won't happen but i was just after a bit more assurance? {Ed001's Note - I still think it is very possible he might go, it all depends on if someone comes up with the right offer or not.}

Why is everyone going on about juve.suarez has only been here a short while and i read he was impressed by buck man and what way he had swans playing so i dont see the lad walking away especially with the way our fans treat our players like he stayed in d dam long enough there climate is just like englands.lads think positive for a while now enough of the negative crap.REDNESS

I'd like to add that Ian the moose Abrahams who works for talks**te also said that our new manager would be Matinez, then Klopp then Capello and after it was anounced said it was Rodgers. He may know about West Ham but he knows next to nothing about LFC, Juve from what I understand are very much interested in Van Persie.

Hey there Eds, heard BR is possibly looking for a centre back this summer. Would you consider Sakho to be a realistic option?

Many Thanks

20 Jun 2012 20:47:10
Ed,
Is it true that we have made a 15million bid for Borini?

O'seunfunmi (Anfield Red) {Ed001's Note - I have no idea, I believe an enquiry was made, but I don't know of any bid nor if there was any intention to follow up the enquiry, or if it was to put pressure on another club to reduce the asking price of an actual target.}
