Over the last year we were linked with Oscar Cordoza and Gonzalo Higuian. Any idea if they would still be targets or are they pie in the sky? Either would be a superb addition in my eyes.
Dont Buy the Sun {Ed001's Note - as far as I know neither are likely, though a lot can change in a couple of months. Higuain was pie in the sky, just a hopeful punt as Benzema had played so well while he was out injured, but Madrid had no intention of letting him go. But he might have to sit and watch Benzema for a few months and want to go.}
Liverpool are not interested in Higuain. Comolli rates Benzema as the best striker in Europe and if any Madrid strikers are bid for it will be him.

ed do you think vertonghen and lucas moura are plausible jan transfers and how do you rate them thamks eds appreciate it! {Ed009's Note - Lucas will not sign. Vertonghen is a possibility but we would be wise to look at his questionable injury record. There is also the fact that he is consistently linked with City and Arsenal to contend with. It is too soon to say with any certainty.}

Simple question If we got the chance of taking Torres back would ppl want him ?
Yes = believable no = unbelievable
Why would you want him back, with your slow/plodding midfield?
I think he regrets going.and if apologised for quotes attributable to him,why not?
When he retires do you think we can move on from this?

I dont see any reason why anyone would not want him back. Obviously if he says he made a mistake. how many people resign from their jobs to start a new one (for career or money) and it does'nt work out. He is no different.

By reading this comment and some of the replies im baffled, are pple gone so sad as to even b thinkin that torres will come out and say he's sorry and rejoin liverpool for whatever fee? im a liverbird 4 life but cmon we just got drubbed by tot nd made the same start to this season as last...why on earth wud he b regretting anything..he's a spaniard he will soon b in spain! FACT.
To me, the issue of him returning is a non-starter because of 2 reasons:
1) He's not good enough anymore. Torres's high flying days are over. He only had 1 decent performance and that was the game before last. He will soon be let go by Chavski and will either return to Espana (Colchoneros most likely) or join a mid table club in the EPL (not likely as he's too arrogant and thinks too highly of himself).
2) He left us in bad fashion and we do not want traitors. It sets a bad example and we are not desperate despite what the muppet mancs say.
As Carroll has yet to display his true form, I do agree we need a top class striker. There are many out there so it makes absolutely no sense to consider Torres. We will be bidding for a proven striker in the peak of his life.
If you continue to persist with this Torres banter, you're just wasting everyone's time. Can we chat about something else please. Enough is enough.

Some people know the truth and will admit it. Torres wanted proof NESV werent Hicks Mark 2. Its all about whether Torres still has his blistering pace IMO.
As for that comedian, I'll call him "Gutted the Ponytail". Carroll said a well documented text to a mate ( ex player/ journo I believe) saying how GUTTED he was at signing for us, 5 x European

Actually he was GUTTED to be leaving Newcastle, not the other way round. Get your facts right.

can you tell me why downing is not playing the offensive football the way he does for England and i have noted that only 3 player are playing with their heart.L.Enrique,Lucas and Suarez the rest as if they dont want to cross the midfield.
{Ed002's Note - With respect to Johnson, much will depend on what happens with Tevez and a potential player exchange that is being considered. It would be guesswork to think of anyone coming in during January this early as consideration needs to be given to unjuries, any players leaving etc.. I cannot answer the Downing question, sorry.}
Why would johnson be too expensive?if you want quality you pay for it,werent books pretty well balanced?
Downing is playing it for us, just when he played against Spurs he must of touched the ball only twice.

In my opinion Downing needs others around him to be playing well. He is not the sort of player who will try to take the game by the scruff of the neck and lift others, he needs to be lifted.
I don't agree with the comment about most players not trying although I do feel we have one or two who are below their best at the moment.
I dont no wat u lot r onbout downing trys hard....he needs a player 2 link up with sum1 fast or gerrard.....if u wach liverpool playing on the left he links with enrique n occasionally wen suarez kums ther n play realli good bt he needs a midfielda 2 link up wit hopefuli gerrard wil b da man

Liverpool are trying to get RYAN BABEL back.
I'd be very surprised as Babel was rather critical of the Downing signing - using Twitter to express his critical opinion would not have won him many fans.

Always had time for Babel. Not his fault he had Benitez and the H&G gang pulling him from pillar to post. Showed some real glimpses of raw talent. I think he could have really grown under a manager like the King. Shame really.
