Ed could Gaitan be an option for us ? Would improve the team for sure.

I read the reported interest a few weeks back but was unsure if it was just journo drivvel.

Jonesred {Ed001's Note - I doubt it, the price being quoted by his club is extremely high.}

Many club show intarest but non of the top team will chase him. man utd have Kagawa, Chelsea Bought hazard, City is full of midfilder. this is the time to make a bid Liverpool.

r-r

We can afford it if we're paying 15 million on Joe Allen Surely

Liverpool are planning a swoop for Defoe. AVB has his sights on strikers across Europe. Expect LFC to put in a 8million bid over the weekend. Front 3 of Luis, Defoe & Borini. AC will be back at NUFC by close of the window. I've also heard there will be another 3 moved out and 1 in plus Defoe.

Can't see it unless the player really went for it and pushed it through. AVB probably quite happy to keep him as an impact player from the bench. Defoe would certainly be welcome at LFC - knows where the goal is well enough.

Really can't see AVB selling Defoe so I don't know what voice(s) in your head told you that one matey..

Manali Cream

Defoe gets a nose bleed if he goes past basingstoke

Where do you get this nonsense? Do you just sit there and convince yourself that your fantasies are real??

Why wud AVB wana sell a player in a postion where they lack players in think about mate lol

The best natural finisher in the epl

R2TB

I'm a spurs fan and would be disappointed if he left! Not a starter but a great impact player

Not in a month of sundays

Utter rubbish and Defoe is not the best natural finisher in the premiership. He blows hot and cold through his entire career which explains why half the time he's on the bench at Spurs. If he was that good he certainly wouldn't be at Spurs.

Rubbish. Children schools holidays

It brings me to sadness to deliver this news but it has to be told...

Liverpool will not be signing any more players till January.
Apparently we have had numerous targets that were expected to sign but none are interested in such a move.

Let's hope Brendan has a couple surprise signings up his sleeve otherwise all we can do is wait till next Season to see if FSG will splash the cash.

Many Regards,

Daniel Hanwell

Daniel, where have you been for so long? I've missed your complete bullsh1t posts.
Maybe you thought if you stayed away for a few weeks we would all forget what a liar you are?

Chris in Tamworth

Apart from Dempsey is desperate for us to sign him!

And who told you that, I suppose BR himself or perhaps you heard it over dinner with mr ayre?

Read this again. Tell me if it makes any sort of sense to you. You couldn't fit any more loopholes in your statement.

BthekingB

Good news, that means at least 2 maybe 3 signings this week!

Daniel Hanwell couldnt find his arse with both hands!!

Just in case anyone has forgotten....

21 May 2012 09:06:21
Morning all I noticed a post yesterday from a DANIEL HALWELL, it said that AVB would be named manager this morning and that we have scouts watching Cavani, I wondered if said poster had any history of getting things right so I checked. This is what I found...
JANUARY
"we will buy Granero, Isla and
Couthino"

"we will bid for Honda and Soldado"

AUGUST
"we will sign Cahill"

"Dann will go to arsenal"

JULY
"Aguero is coming to Liverpool"

"if Aguero doesn't sign this summer I will never post again"

"disappointing news, Aguero is not even being considered"

"you heard it here first, I predict Doni, Downing, Mata, Turan, Dann and Baines"

"N'Zogbia and Mata will sign. Zapata and Angel will sign Turan will sign and maybe James Milner"

Please stop Daniel, you know nothing and have no source

Chris in Tamworth

Well we can expect the exact opposite then..

What a laughable post.

Why do you continue to post when everyone knows its nonsense?

Ash

At least 1 or 2 more will come in. They could be loans. Don't expect any big names.

I know this is all rumours and stuff lads just make up and write in,but this wouldn surprise me at all.fsg i think sell up next year losing as little cash as they can

Daniel Hanwell says no signings, so expect five or six I'd say.

McSnuggles

Nice post Chris. Gave me a good laugh! So blunt! Loved it!
Jason

Lol Don't worry It will sink in soon

Daniel Hanwell

I have no inside info but also think there will be no more incoming players only sales. My prediction is Agger will be sold last minute to cover cost of Allen and boroni, Carroll will stay as no one will pay what we want, spearing to go. Owners don't wish to invest in the club anymore just survive on our means in the hope Brendan can pull something out of the ordinary.

I love Chris in Tamworth

Could well be true, like most other transfer windows we are slack and slow (on decent players) whats new.most clubs have there new players . its a joke

As I have mentioned before AVB will be announced manager this week. According to my source it will be on a 3 year deal.

hopefully I'll be given the respect I deserve once the news breaks this week in regards to the manager appointment.

Also LFC scouts are at the Juventus game watching Cavani.

Liverpool will be signing Esteban Granero, Mauricio Isla and possibly Philippe Coutinho from Inter Milan if the deal goes through in time by the end of the transfer window.

Many Regards,
Daniel Hanwell

--------------------------------------------

It took Just ten minutes using the search function to find out you are totally clueless, infact the ONLY thing you've got right was Kenny getting sacked, that's approximately 1 in 10 correct! I am not it the know at all but i could guess a better success rate than you! LOL

MR EM

Daniel Hanwell has a 100 percent success rate in being wrong. what a guy !

Ahh Daniel they finally released you from the psych unit..you have been missed fella keep the inside info coming..have u gone out for dinner with any lfc staff lately?thanks for the info mate! Rosred

Liverpool will not be signing anymore players until january.
brendan has a couple of signings up his sleeve.
we will have to wait until next summer to see if fsg will spash the cash.
what a whopper you are.

Oh my god not you again

Daniel you are a joke! You obviously don't support Liverpool, so go and post lies on some other fan sites.

Dear Daniel, I've read your posts in the past, your previous posts (delivered in the same patronising manner as this one) have all been utter pants. You have to agree mate you get a lot wrong...

Although the above reply proves that Daniel Hanwell knows sweet F.A, I wouldn't be surprised if we fail to make any more signings. There's been absolutely zilch reported and, although that doesn't necessarily mean that nothing will happen (look at how quiet the club kept Assaidi), it doesn't look good. I think Rodgers would save the money rather than waste it on second or third choice panic buys.

Chris in Tamworth

Very well said my man. Daniel is clearly clueless.

Red Col

Haha Daniel, you been pawned!

Well done Chris!

I don't think we'll hear Daniel's name anymore from now on

Anyways I'm hoping LFC to get 1-3 more players in before the deadline day. Who knows really...

SLURed

Chris, I've seen ur posts before and always found them interesting and good viable rumours. However, this post my friend is your best yet. By a mile. Keep up the good work. Jayo

Haha anybody else think that Daniel's post should be accompanied by "The Death March"...

Thanks, Chris. Loved your reply. Especially the 'If Aguero doesn't join this summer I'll never post again' part.

THE SUMON VAI

What a donkey!

Daniel Hanwell isn't to be taken seriously.
He's extracting the urine.
He always gets the response he wants.
However, it's posters like him/her who make this site what it is...funny!
A banter-page should embrace characters like this with open arms.
God knows we need to lighten up a bit. Our politicians are either back-tracking on promises, fiddling or hugging athletes whilst we pay 60% on petrol, watch Brussells dictate our lives and see our kids futures sold off to Cameron's old school chums.
Life's crap enough without turning against the Daniel Hanwells of this world.....schoolkids on holiday with internet access, lots of free-time and minds choc-a-block with fantastic thoughts, puberty and confusion.
ANFIELDPETE

Clearly this is so much bullsh!t when BR him self said in a interview he will hope too sign one or two more

Chris in Tamworth well said mate, quality reply to daniel haha

Dear Daniel

Would you consider signing your posts from now on as "Donga Hangwell" instead of "Daniel Hanwell"?

This should reinforce the lack of credibility for readers.

Best regards

REDROD

So there will be no more players coming in but BR may have a couple of suprise signings up his sleeve. So which one is it then?

WBLFC

Ha ha this is so funny!

Daniel you have been totally owned!!

Gregski

I think the squad we have can win the league. Thats even more unlikely than no signings

I thought this was a rumours page, not a 'post absolute facts or you will get slated site', leave him alone. Yes he is wrong, and has been wrong so many times in the past, but if you see his name, just skip the post and read the next one. Keep posting rubbish Daniel, i'll keep reading it, even if its just for a laugh.

op6

I'm an Arsenal fan (trying to figure out like most fans of our teams where Sahin is going) but I do have to say there is at least one of these person posters on each thread I have found. Ours is called Malaga gooner and he runs Daniel Hanwell pretty close.

Haha totally agree with Chris' comment! Daniel your a complulsive liar. A word of advice for you... put down the jaffa cakes, switch off Jeremy Kyle and go get a job.

Pete.

{Ed022's Note - Player Profile on Fernando Llorente has now been updated to fit current events, and contains a brand new structure within 'The Business End of the Profile' which I'd appreciate feedback on if possible. Top striker, and I'm pretty sure most of us Liverpool fans would die to have him at our club. It probably wont happen, but here's a profile anyway! - www.player-profiles.co.uk - cheers all.}

1 in a 100 chance of coming to LFC. Will want to play at the highest level (CL) to force his way into his national team instead of warming the bench. shame.

22 Aug 2012 18:49:58
Ed have arsenal signed sahin yet or is there still a chance e might get him?
Cheers {Ed022's Note - Very small chance, but I believe it is done and dusted with Arsenal I'm afraid - but who knows.}

Not all is as it seems, there is still a chance that Arsenal may reject the chance to sign him as Wenger is determined to have an option to buy clause in the deal but Mourinho is equally adamant not to give Arsenal one.

22 Aug 2012 18:39:04
Hi Eds, hearing reports from that we are in talks with City for A. Johnson. I know you've covered this over the last few days but is this true?
Cheers
Red Nick {Ed022's Note - Nothing new to report thus far I'm afraid, but interest is there I believe.}

Thanks I know there is quite a lot of negativity surrounding Johnson but personally very excited at the prospect of a real winger who can beat people and score some goals.

22 Aug 2012 17:25:40
eds, were we ever in for schurrle? he looks like a top finisher

HB {Ed052's Note - No}

Agger deal agreed with City. £16m & AJ coming the other way.

Souness

Good bit of business. lets hope there is a good replacement lined up.Danny boy see ya!!!!!

I believe you Souness.LAst time i dint believe when you said "something big and a happy one is gonna happen tomorrow and that wont be a new signing".But the next day Suarez signed a new deal.
So this time I believe you..!!

That rumour was originally started on Twitter by 'LFC_Flyonthewall', who just happens to be a self confessed ARSENAL supporter!

Stop wasting our time, hes not going to City, end of !

Tel 1949

I hope your wrong with this 1 mate...

Phooey

Ed,

can you tell if this is the same souness that called suarez signing a new contract the day before it happened.if it is he was spot on on that one.

red jay {Ed052's Note - Search Function?}

I don't think this is true because we are now trying to get Agger to sign a new contract.

If this were true (which it isnt) I'd use the 15m to buy M.Dawson 9m and S.Kjaer 6m to stengthen our defence, buy hey i'm not Brendan!

That story is wks old

Really? How do you know this?

Sounds like a great deal. As much as I like Agger he is to injury prone and is worth moving on for that deal if true.. Hope its true. That will hand coats his chance.
jono

Is this the genuine souness because his posts are usually pretty accurate..if it is could be a good deal.
carlos79.

Is this the genuine souness because his posts are usually pretty accurate..if it is could be a good deal.
carlos79.

Souness shud be considered an Ed since he is ITK

Rubbish this is recycled due to the fact agger is in nagotiations for a new contract

Why would Liverpool take him to Edinburgh if they where planning to sell him soon?

After his shabby performance against West Brom I don't know why people are complaining

Eds, can you confirm if this is the same dalglish? that posted, we can obviously see his name, but not IP Address or anything.

I think this would be a great deal, and would be happy, i don't want to lose Agger, but think Johnson is a quality player and just what we need. Plenty of money to go and get another quality defender as well
Thanks
Red Viking {Ed022's Note - I cannot I'm afraid.}

Who keeps publishing this souness

guy.. A complete joker. The GT

Not doubting the op, but i'm pretty sure agger has come out and said he won't play for man citeh? i know money talks and he may not have much of a choice but if he seriously doesn't want to go to citeh i can't see it happening

Agger is looking to stay and BR said he woudl only accept silly money for him. 16m is way below what we are looking for, and AJ is already off elsewhere.

Please publish this.. Souness is not itk. That Suarez thing was a shot in the dark that came off.. He should never be considered an Ed. He has been plenty wrong too.. The GT

Sorry i got a bit jealous there.. I love you really souness 1 of the best itk's out there. Soz xx The GT

Rodgers confirms that he would not see us losing #Agger so that rumour can be put to bed , as always said he is staying #lfc

"Why would Liverpool take him to Edinburgh if they where planning to sell him soon?" BECAUSE his appearance in the qualification rounds of the UEFA Cup has no impact on any potential appearance he might have for another team in the UEFA Champions' League proper.

I don't think it will happen and liverpool will bid for Aj no cd

Would I take 16m and AJ for Agger. Yes! AJ is worth 12m so a 30m deal for Agger is about right. I just hope that a replacement can be found. Perhaps kjaer, mexes, sahko and of corse eds mentioned Amorebeita. From what I have seen of Coates, he's not that good and well carra is looking old. Jamie

Eds (or others) - more of a general transfer related query. But are you aware of anyone at all that had mentioned information regarding an interest in Assaidi prior to it being announced by the club? If not does this surprise you that there was not a single whisper before hand?

Cheers
MD4 {Ed001's Note - no one that I know of and no, because it is Liverpool's policy to keep things in house. The leaks are all outside the club.}

Thats a bold statement (every leak)

Good point, if this transfer was out of the blue then who is to say there are not others such as this going on behind the scenes?
I cant imagine it will be a significant (marquee) signing but BR has said all along we need to have a different approach as we dont have the money to compete for the top top players. I'd get more satisfaction out of LFC 1. not buying success and 2. unearthing some gems the from leftfield.

Oscar Betancourt, Gaston Ramirez's agent.
"Liverpool? They have never presented a concrete offer." Once and for all, please, please! stop the Ramirez rumours!

Singred

Old news...

Doesnt mean anything

Thought he said that a few weeks ago?

I am led to believe by back room staff that we will make our move on deadline day.. remember me.
Tom in the know

Take it you're an Adam Johnson fan then.

This calls for wonderdogsparky

Just heard this rumour that we might be bidding for a player called gaston ramirez ;)

22 Aug 2012 19:01:31
I am a city fan but my cousins are die hard Liverpool fans I've always had a soft spot even since fowler Owen Macca and it annoys me to see u slipping away paying to much money for underrated unproven players I would love to see lfc up there again like they was few years ago here's a team and formation that I reckon would get u goals again

Reina
G. Johnson. Agger. Skirtel

A. Johnson. Lucas. Gerrard. Downing

Defoe. Suarez.
Carroll

Players in
Adam Johnson £10m man city
Jermain Defoe £5m spurs

22 Aug 2012 15:10:14
I was informed by someone very close to a high ranking LFC board member that Adam Johnson + £15 million for Daniel Agger was agreed close to two weeks ago. Do you think it is possible that the transfer could be dragging out because Agger wants to keep his integrity? Because Rodgers and Agger have made it so clear that they want to stay at Liverpool, him going would now be seen as 'against his own will'. This saves the player some grief, and wont make the Liverpool fans blame the new manager.

Doubt this, this would have comeout somewhere somehow. AJ or Aggers Agent would have leaked to ensure best deal and £££ comission

They probably get a BAFTA for that mate

If it was agreed 2 weeks ago then I think it would have gone through 2 weeks ago.. They surely would have wanted to integrate players before season kicked off. Find this highly unbelievable.

Nonsense!! Agger is a scouser YNWA

Apparently, Man City are in for Diego Godin. If this is true, it seems Agger is going nowhere.

merka

No agger is danish

Why don't you ask your mate who's close to the board ?

Hearing rumours of levandowski and mertens being targeted if Carroll is shipped. Both are available at the right price which won't be that much (not even downing money)

Carroll is staying i reckon, in the squad for tommoro night again(i know this dosnt cup tie him) and defnitly cant see Newcastle bidding 18/19/or 20 million whatever were after. Newcastle dont need Carroll, we do in my eyes

Why would Lewandowski, who's playing in a very good Dortmund side, in the champions league, want to move to us right now?

Levandowski alone will be 25mill+ ya mad yoke

Would love it to be true but cant see it happening

Lewandowski won't cost much?

I'd say £25m minimum?

Also, I would be amazed if he was interested in a non champions league club...

...apart from that...

Eddie

Wrong... First both have CL football this season and both are CL players. We cannot offer this.
Second, Lewondonski was chased by Man Utd, as much as I dislike them if they go for a player and LFC go for a player, Man U will surely win due to stadium, recent trophy winning history (although we won more trophies then they did last season ļŠ) and CL football.

Garbage lad. Dortmund have already turned down two bids over 20mil for Lewandowski

Available for not that much! Oh lord, Lewandowski is one of the most highly sought after strikers in world football. I would have thought he would cost a minimum of £25m and probably more.

Why does everybody want to get rid of big andy think hes gonna come good would rather get shot of spearing adam ..

22 Aug 2012 14:57:17
Hey Ed's, any interest in Hernanes from lazio on behalf of Liverpool? Or any attacking mids for that matter. Sig was looked at so I'll assume Liverpool are after a player in that position. Cheers for the great work.
LFC-Aussie {Ed022's Note - It's clear that it's a position being looked at that's for sure. Gerrard cannot cope with week in, week out football anymore so the only other thing I can think of at the moment is that Shelvey will be used more and more within that role, as for me he's excellent and could do a fantastic job in that area. Last I checked Hernanes was staying at Lazio, as Juventus tried entering negotiations (in a deal that involved Giovinco) but Lazio quoted around 23 million Euro's upwards, thus scaring off interested teams etc.}

He will join Milan

It showed against West brom how unfit he was. He give the ball away so many times. one eventually was the killer blow which lead to the penalty and Agger sending off. He didn't even try to make up for his mistake when it was too late. He's starting to take the first half of games too lightly in my opinion and relying on the second half to work off adrenalin

22 Aug 2012 13:54:54
Eds, Do you think we will sign anyone good enough to go straight into our starting eleven before the window closes? starting to doubt it. answers and opinions is appriciated.

Daniel91 {Ed002's Note - I would rather see all signings as valuable squad members.}

I hope Ed002 that your reply was worded in such a way as to stop a flood of 'who' 'who'
questions rather than 'no-one special' coming

Puzzled

Who, who?

vox30

Haven't we got enough 'valuable' squad members? sorry re-word 'valuable' for 'dead-wood'!!

Ya we need some first eleven players some of what we have are squad players fans need to see a top player come in to give us hope . Jason

Valuable squad members. Oh ed 002 that was the worst response ever.

22 Aug 2012 12:39:06
Ed002, I have seen that you have mentioned Lisandro Lopez or Alvaro Negredo could be attainable targets if we sell Carroll. You also mentioned indirectly that Lopez will cost around 12+ million? How is that Ed002 since Lyon bought him for close to 20 million?

Also do you see LFC getting interested in Lopez or Negredo if Carroll is sold? I mean, I only ask because you are one not to throw around random names without a good reason.

Any answer would be appreciated. Thanks Ed002

AG {Ed002's Note - He is pushing 30 now and players values are not determined by time alone - how much is Andy Carroll worth? Lyon has an offer on the player aleady of about £9M but that will need to rise if a sale will happen. If Liverpool want a striker and if they have the money and want Lopez, a bid of around £12M would likely be accepted.}

Cheers Ed002. So, your saying, IF we get interested, a sale is very possible?

AG {Ed002's Note - Right.}

Eds reds i dont think negrado is any better than andy carroll , lopez is class always liked him, would defoe be any cheaper than lopez? say what you like he scores goals!! steviep62

Lisandro Lopez is a class player, imo. I've wanted us to sign him for a while.

But I don't see us being interested for that money at his age. Oh well.

- Something Red -

Defoe wont be sold due to the lack of strikers at tottenham, i think lopez would be a great signing...he's a proper goalscorer and would put away most of the chances suarez misses

22 Aug 2012 12:30:48
Ive been in the l1 this morning went into the lfc shop and bumped into Ian Callaghan we got talking and he said he's heard we've enquired about Alvaro Negredo? Is this true eds? I'm sure he would be in the know? {Ed052's Note - Could be yes - he's an option, although we know of no interest}

Is he really any better player than carroll ?

Negredo is 'better' than Carroll on the ground, or at least to say hes a tad more versatile. Quick feet and good vision. Still think we should give Carroll a go before making a 20m loss on him though... Carroll through the centre, Suarez on the right, Borini on the left

Ian Callaghan now works in LFC store as a shirt printer and is a great source of information.

Miles and miles better... Could have a great impact. I'd definitely sell Carroll to get this guy.

I doubt he would tell you about that by just meeting you in a lfc store

Don't really think this guy is the answer. Rated him very highly whilst he was at Almeria, but haven't been as keen since his Sevilla days. If he was £10 million or less then defo, otherwise we need a Klose/Inzaghi style striker.

Manali cream

A ex player wouldn't tell you as its confidential theu on;y agree in what you say then pollietly walk away plz wake up

I think borini - carrol - suarez must be tried and tested before carrol is sold. He looked sharp at the end of last season and in the euro's.

Tika taka is all good but if you can combine that with a crossing (dare i say it) 'long ball' game, it makes the squad more versatile. It makes it much harder to playing various styles of football

merka

I hope not, he's never scored more than 20 in a season, I'd rather keep Carroll than sign him

Red Ollie

Ian Callaghan is a legend and a true gentleman. Don't name him if it is not true

22 Aug 2012 12:14:33
hey ed,do we have any interes on nacer chadli,hes very good player and i doubt he would cost too much.? {Ed052's Note - Dont think so, possible tho}

Whats with these young unproven players everyone is banging on about! We need a proven striker that can cut it in the premier league! That is all we need.

We are Liverpool FC! YNWA

Not certain haw much truth behind it but on my football iPhone news app it say that Liverpool have moved ahead of man u and ac Milan for the race of kaka
Big jeff

I have seen this aswell, not sure how much truth is behind it though, hope its true:)

Thats old hat too high wages ,wont be happening

Waste of wage budget, end up paying him millions to come and lay on the medical bed, he has a few exceptional games a season then disappears performance wise

He is not a solution to our problem anyways. the biggest setback is our failure to get those two loan signings - tello and sahin. everton looks a better side than us to be honest - first time in my life i am saying this.

I hate to agree - Everton looked a greath outfit on Monday! However, this goes to show you don't need to spend billions and pay offensivly high wages to build a quality team. In Brendan we trust!

Dave

I can't believe people who say Kaka would be a bad option?! When he returned from injury at the back end of last season he still looked a class act for Madrid. And even if Liverpool had to pay his big salary for the year - the arrival of a player of his calibre would surely be a massive left for the players, staff, fans of the club? The signing of a player like Kaka on loan would be as much about symbolism as it would be about whether or not he could stay fit for the entire season. It would be a message that Liverpool can attract a superstar player and as it would be on loan - there would be pretty much no risk involved. A no brainer - if the player himself was up for it {Ed002's Note - There is no interest in Kaka at this time.}

Unbelievable (Big) Jeff

If your iPhone says so it must be nailed on
Rusty

I agree with large paragraph guy there. No midfielders in our squad, with the exception of Gerrard of course, are a better footballer than Kaka!

Hi Eds and fellow Redmen,
Here is a bit of good news to cheer you up and lift this doom and gloom. I'm sworn to secrecy though but I can't help letting this one out. Forget Adam Johnson; overrated and expensive cos we are about to reap the benefit of Fallows and Hunter. The club is in talks with Brescia and Twente for Omar El Kaddouri and Nacer Chadii respectively. Both are young, cheap and technically giffted and want to play in the EPL. We may not sign both this window but here is just saying. Carrol is certainly on his way out. Downing if we get good offer. Rogers believe these players will make or break him. Adam is leaving as well. Keep the good faith.

Spoonhead

El Kaddouri was news yesterday, but I hope you are right, sounds good!

Both are Moroccan... If this is true, we would loose 3 of our players to the African cup of nations...

Much rather have adam johnson, hes a proven premier league player, 25 isnt old either and a reported £10 million fee is a bargain for someone of his talents

Don't belive Carroll will leave - the club has already said they won't accept a low bid. {Ed052's Note - I dont think he will leave either}

Chadli plays for belgium actually so would not lose him

I tell you what, if we sign these 2 dudes then i for one will be v happy. even one of them! both born and came through belgiums system. they're like hazard but without the price tag!

pace power and trickery in abundance, al kaddouri ripped england u21 not so long ago and chadii also looks good too.

low cost and low risk, worth a punt
sinner21

If this is true, Rodgers is falling into the same traps as Hodgson did. i.e signing rubbish for budget deals!

Chadi has scored 2 in 2 in Holland.

Asked this question before may of missed the answer (white flagg is in the air to cool off a frustrated eds answer)

But if we do not sell Carrol or Agger can we still get such targets as mentioned above?
ta

R2TB {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of these "targets" so cannot say.}

I heard and posted about Omar El Kaddouri yesterday. Don't know much about the player but at the price must be worth a punt.

Hope you're not dissin the mighty Poulsen with that comment?

I personaly hope this rumour is unfounded as both the players mentioned are undoubtedly fifth rate garbage who will make no contibution whatsoever.

If we are to see quality incomming its clear incommings that certain fans scream out about then we will have to sell carroll unless we pull a gem or two out of the bag for next to nothing, seems to be the reality of the situation - so we just get on with it and wait for the next confirmed interest or signing/s
and look for our fring players to show us what we all no they can be capable of against hearts..

R2TB

We need a clinical striker. It's like rogers just wants to avoid getting a striker. Kenny as well, since January...?

Hello eds. This is for ed002. It seems Tottenham can attract better players than us but i can't understand why.. They make less money than us. They also don't have Champions League football to offer. Their best player is leaving. Am i missing something here. I am not being sarcastic but just confused by this notion that they are going after Llorente and Willian while we are not able to get somebody decent from abroad.. I am not saying our players are bad but Llorente would be dream come true.

Please help me out here, what am i missing. What do we need to attract better players.
Musicnation {Ed002's Note - Spurs are financially very strong. They have actually spent less than Liverpool this summer but will be spending further on at least another striker - and they will have the income from sales to cover much of this. If Liverpool were to generate income from the sale of players then I would think a good chance exists of a, shall we say, "pricier" arrival coming in.}

Aren't Spurs a PLC? Don't they generate money from shares? Besides they also have the London factor, which is a big draw for overseas players... apparently. {Ed002's Note - Spurs is no longer a listed company and I think you perhaps misunderstand about shares.}

Sorry also add AVB is respected in Europe, regardless of Chelski situation.

I share the same question as original writer but unfortunately I dont see the real question being answered. We already know about the financial wherabouts of LFC as far as funding for next ''big'' signing is concerned. The question, as I saw it was, assuming we are at par financially with spurs , why cant we attract players like them? and this scenario existed from last season. As far as I remember, Modric chose them over LFC, and siggurdsson followed this season. Is it because of lack of consistency in managerial/transfer policies over the last 2-3 seasons? Its like players seem to just ''dont see it happening'' at Liverpool any time soon feeling.

Spurs are selling modric and Dawson amongst others so when the transfer window ends they will pretty much break even on their activity.that is the way FSG would like to run Liverpool,it's not being a selling club it's about managing your resources,clever if you ask me.

Spurs will have a bad season avb will not prosper in epl i reckon chaps
avoorochie

The spurs owner is very wealthy he is also very clever in his ways makes a profit of most players,kyle

Spurs have a better chance of top 4 CL football, they're financially stable, they have a bigger coach who can attract players, they are selling to break even, and now they have Ade, Sigurdsson and Vertongon. They're just on another level than us currently. What we need to do is bring in a big striker like they have if we want any chance on competing with them.

They may not have CL football but they did finish 4th.

Which of the two teams is most likely to finish in the top four come May?

There is of course the large factor outwith football reasons, namely that London is a major world capital city and is seen as far more appealing to foreign signings.

AVB is a bigger draw, Spuds are selling high value hence bigger players in.
Whereas LFC, Almost unknown manager, Owners who ditther, and are only prepared to pay small fees & wages.

Says it all really.

The fact is, Spurs have a manager with a little more pedigree than Liverpool. They are more likely to challenge for Champions league, they make enough money to match Liverpool's offers for players and they will generally match any wages offered. Don't forget that if Modric does leave, it will be on Spurs' terms and he will cost a fortune meaning they will have millions of their own money (not borrowed from Americans) to invest in the squad. The thinly veiled worry from the chairman stating that Champions League football is a necessity next year suggests that once again the clubs books are no longer balanced and they need to start looking at realistic targets. Finally, as the league showed last year, there are 7 better teams than Liverpool - and don't forget Spurs only missed out due to Chelsea winning the Champions League.

When the owners keep mentioning champions league football, it sounds so stupendous! do we have the quality to finish 4th? how would you expect an improvement? whom do you expect to force out from the top 4?
even spurs and newcastle look in much better shape. everton's form is the best in years. Arsenal does not spend too much either. still all these clubs have got better targets in a more competitive price. we have not seen signings like jelavic, mirralls, demba ba, VDB and podolski who together wud be less than carroll and downing.

Wasn't always the case, one year a prolific Dutch striker chose us over them, their second choice target was some Eastern Block player that didn't last very long, I think they shipped him up north for around £30 mil.

According to one chart I found for 2011-2012, Tottenhams turnover was ~160M, wages of ~90M. Our turnover was ~180M, wages of ~130M. Assuming this is remotely accurate, then their revenue isn't much behind ours but our wage bill is (or at least was) ~40M more than theirs. Basically our wages are way too high relative to revenue and the owners have taken steps to reduce this while trying to increase revenue through commercial deals. Work remains to be done here, but I think we're in much better shape moving forward than we were 2 years ago.

RDL {Ed002's Note - Those figures look to be a couple of years old - wages have dropped since then.}

London baby!! Liverpool is a fantastic city but the club doesn't have the draw it once did and so if a player(and his wag) has a choice to make then london will more times than not win out. The lifestyle and weather is a massive plus..

Imo spurs have just sold their best defender dawson, their best cm is on the way modrich, they signed ade but he is getting on a bit they need a keeper cm the spine of their team is not right, we will be above them. we have pepe agger skrtel allen lucas gerrard suarez. so we had a bad first game get over it r team is not as bad as you think, all is not so rosy in spurs either its not spurs its arsenal i would be trying to catch and if their new players dont click we may have a chance of top 4 imo.,Tommy Irish Red

Its because spurs are a north london club, every players wants to be in london !

It's a weird argument that uses N london vs. Liverpool. I'd love to think of all british players growing up playing "wally" against the city stadium. But an established player isn't moving to Walthamstow or Toxteth, and theres no real difference between Buckingshire and Alderly edge, I'm not sure that quality of life (perceived or real) play that big a part.

Well im an arsenal fan and i hate spurs but no offence, i would choose them over liverpool anyday. 4th place simply beats 8th

Agreed Ed002, but it was the best data I could find quickly. No idea why revenue data for football clubs is always a year out of date, though- always thought that was strange.

Source is here, didn't include it in the original post as not sure if you would allow offsite links:

Eds how strong is Liverpool's interest in Adam Johnson? Do you feel we will make a bid? Also do you think he would be a good player for us?

Dan. {Ed052's Note - I'm not sure. An enquiry was made, but I believe that we wanted a loan more and not a permanent one}

Sounds like we don't have any money then!

£10 Million is good price if we can't pay that for him and yet we will spend that on Allen and Borini. It makes you wonder.

I personally just hope we get rid of the dead wood asap. I.e adam and spearing, we have too many CM's and that seems to mean we can't buy for areas we need to fill like out wide.

Jord

Because liverpool are skint! Loans or nothing! Cant attract the players anymore! We are seeing the demise of liverpool football club as we know it! Embarrasing!
HARDY1892 YNWA

Loan deals for players that we are taking a massive gamble on considering their history is a wise decision, johnson needs to develope his defending game nothing up to now suggests he his really working on this hence playing some part in a willlingness for him to be moved on IMHO.
Clearly getting in players quickly is not goin to happen unless the club pull another Assaidi type player with quality out of the bag that not many people no about, and to be fair is this not what many of us have screamed out for? the unearthing of tallent.. i smell deadline day drama and hopefully a lil suprise in between.

Hi Eds, do you think there is any likelihood of interest in John Guidetti, loan deal from Man City? I know he is only 20, but surely proved his potential with 20 goals in Holland last year from only 20 plus games?

remmer69 {Ed052's Note - I dont think so}

22 Aug 2012 09:51:10
Hi Eds, I was just wondering if we had shown any interest in Jack Butland? I've seen a few things flying around on the internet but wasn't really convinced. Do you know if the rumours are true?
Thanks in advance.
Lewis. {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest.}

Utd are signing him.

Are utd signing him because of the way he flapped at a cross last night and gave a goal away aka de gea ??

Dont understand the clamour for Butland. played what, 2 league games and 1 England cap? We`ve jumped on the `next big thing` bandwagon before, anyone remember Chris Kirkland? look how that worked out.

22 Aug 2012 09:01:54
Ed do you think if we went for llorente we would have a decent chance of getting him? he is meant to be willing to go to spurs and they aren't in the CL either {Ed002's Note - I don't see Llorente as an option unless money from sales arrives quickly and interest is declared.}

Front 3 of suarez lorrente johnson would look much better than what we have now

Like many I/we are frustrated by lack of tranfers and missed transfers this summer. So I am posting for the first time trying to update everyone on the current situation, all from a very good source I have who works at Melwood.

Loan moves for both Sahin and Tello have stalled due to neither player keen to join us due to our lack of Champions League football.

The club does still aim to sign 3 players - winger, striker and attacking midfielder. There is continued interest in - Dempsey (price currently quoted too high £10M, so likely to drag on - LFC not willing to pay more than £7M but would do a player plus cash deal with either Adam or Spearing), Johnson (LFC willing to pay £10M but wages may prove a problem), there is also interest in Walcott (waiting on contract issue), Mertens and Sturridge.

If we manage to offload some players - Carroll, Spearing, Adam, Downing (if Johnson signs) then the move will be used to look at signing Jack Butland (LFC willing to pay £6M and loan to back for season) and also have some extra funds to further strengthen in January, once BR has fully assessed the squad.

The club is also bracing itself for a further bid for Agger from Man City. Despite what has been said if a bid of £25m comes in or £15m pluys Johnson then a deal is likely to be done. Liverpool have already enquired about a number of possible replacements costing between £6m-£10m.

This sounds right to me! Ged

Well liverpool echo this morning have already put an end to the johnson rumours by stating lfc are distancing themselves from the rumours and he is not a player we want, can you tell your source to keep updated with newsnoW.com before informing you of the ins and outs at lfc ;) have a nice day! RedTurk

You are not updating anyone!! You are just saying what has already been said & reported, stop acting like you know what is going on with your "sources"!!! Tit. Just give genuine updates!!

All very possible bt a little srprised by Mertens interest - no spectlation in papers.

Hope this all happens!

This information does not stack up with info today in the Liverpool Echo, especially regarding Johnson. The Echo say LFC have distanced themselves completely from buying Johnson, so I know whose article Im likely to believe!

Tel 1949

I doubt city will pay over 25 million and then not be able to play agger for 3 matches .. maybe they will who knows? .. also why would adam johnsons wages be a problem i doubt he is even on more than what joe cole or aqaluani was on.. last but not least how would your "source" know how much liverpool have to offer in terms of wages does he have alll the financial files on his desk in his office read through them all then quickly got on his phone to tell you ? DONT THINK SO!

cheers huyton red

If this is true then mid-table mediocrity beckons for the forseeable future. How depressing!

Worrying there's no interest in someone who can put the ball in the net, don't care if he's 30 million or 3 million. Just need a goalscorer

What a load of Charlie Ollock! This a combination of information that we already know about and have done for quite some time presented as 'in the know' via a 'secret source' - probably his imaginary mate (Steve Ketchup) ... congratulations you've just made a prize tit of yourself ... I look forward to your next ridiculous post so we can all laugh at you and your imaginary little world. Cheers :) True Red.

Your source clearly has a good knowlegge of the English press and twitter.

Huyton red - Agger is only banned for 1 game

Carrol is gone IMO but 12 mill from newcastle takes the P**s really cant see the club taking anything less than half 17mill round abouts and we cant expect the owners to loan the club money for a new player/s the club cant realy sustain along with coles wages reported 90 grand a week as well as carrols wages etc cant blame anyone for this apart from the previous owners fsg gave the fans choice money from the club to spend and that is why we are were we are today. we cant blame Fsg for protecting the clubs financial state.

R2TB

Walcott and sturridge arent good enough we need effective players in the team the reputation and price of players is less important than whether theyre going to improve us Dempsey i think would improve us right away

How much would Leandro Damiao cost us ed? Would we be interested?

YNWA
ALves {Ed002's Note - Leandro Damiao remains of interest to several clubs including Spurs, PSG, Roma, Sporting Lisbon, Inter Milan and Juventus. Lyon, Arsenal and Barcelona seem to have dropped any interest they had in the player. January 2013 may be a more likely time to move than the summer although with rejected bids from Spurs and PSG on the table, Roma or Juventus may force a summer move - and these remain the most likely destinations right now. So no acceptable bids but perhaps a flurry of activity will happen. His club value him at an unrealistic 60M euro and don't want to sell.}

Guillem Balague was saying that Arsenal have an agrrement ??

Could you be slightly more specific ? {Ed002's Note - With Sahin.}

The deals in place with Arsenal and RM have left it to player to sort out personal terms.

According to todays Echo, LFC do not expect to sign Sahin as he wants Champions League football ( personally I doubt he will get off the bench, but hey what do I know?)

yo eds any chance of bojan? quality goal poacher and young too, could be just what we need round the 6 yard box!
Cheers, Mike {Ed002's Note - I think it unlikely - but Roma want to sell and nobody wants him.}

He lost his form a long way back. borini scored more goals than him last year with few matches

My thoughts were correct, apparently in talks with Sturridge and his agent, source is reliable, others are now reporting, time will tell.
Cal

Unless Chelsea have at least 1 more striker lined up then I don't see him being available {Ed002's Note - Chelsea are looking to bring in two strikers.}

Please god no - not Daniel (I find it physically impossible to pass) Sturridge! You have to be kidding me!? If this goes through I'm definitely supporting Merthyr Tydfil next year! LOL!

Hi Ed,
With spurs signing ade, does that mean perhaps Andy won't be moving there? Or is there a twist to come?
Samsaliva from Malaysia
Tq Ed. {Ed002's Note - Spurs are after two strikers, Carroll remains an option. They have also spoken with Willian's and Llorenti's agents.}

Why is it that spurs get genuinely linked to big players such as llorente but we don't? Neither of us are in cl. And surely we are a bigger club. Can anyone shed any light on this for me. Jayo

You have a bigger history your not a bigger club and liverpool fans need to get that into there heads

Yes, we do have a super successful history and we ARE clearly a much bigger club unlike Spurs who haven't won anything of note for a long time let alone the 18 league titles and 5 European cups ... and finally go back to primary school and learn the difference between your and you're ... you deluded uneducated tit!

good source in newcastle that a 12m take it or leave offer for carroll.

Otherwise known as the papers

You will find your good source "The Telegraph" newspaper is not based in Newcastle. This £12M offer story is on their website.

Why do some people even bother with this "good source" especially when a story has been out in the media.

Carroll can be forgiven for lacking confidence while Rodgers does nothing to dismiss rumours of insulting offers such as this. How long can this thing run? Meanwhile the season has started...

I'd leave it

I'll leave it thanks...

Brendan R

Leave it!

rrrRedAlert

Don't think he's going anywhere for 12M

Geordies having too many beers down the Pigg Market. His head is worth that alone.

I would rather leave it.

We could get Suarez to play on the flanks and let Carroll in the center. He might come out good.

Is that source the daily telegraph or BbC gossip column? I swear some people think where all incapable of reading.

HR

Good source or quoting a newspaper...?

Leave it! Cheeky b*****ds, after we paid triple that for him!

Then we should leave it because that quite frankly is an insult to both the club and the play. We should send that offer back with a big f you on it

And this 'good' source is Metro ? You're one day late mate.

You should send it back with a big thank you on it, i think it's very commendable of newcastle to offer back some of the stupid money you spent on him.

Mr K

Really cheeky hope we don't sell
.

Carroll wont be going ANYWHERE for 12 million ! (especially Newcastle)

Cheeky toerags... at that price I will keep Andy, hes a great player, why sell him for buttons ?

Brendan

I would rather have Carroll on the bench for the rest of his contract than sell him back to Newcastle... They have already pulled our trousers down and bent us over the kitchen table. ONCE BITTEN TWICE SHY comes to mind

22 Aug 2012 11:49:01
Then Newcastle can take the 12mil and shove it

Liverpool fans havent a clue were still owed 10m for carroll plus get 25% sell on clause so thats why 12m been offerd and plus he wants to go bk 2 us.. but hope ye have a good season no hard feelings..

£12M Would seem to be his Market value right now. Would you pay £20m for him at this moment in time ,this is the question you should be asking ,forget what Newcastle were paid .

i was the first one to post about sahin weeks ago.. we were almost nailed on for him... our result on saturday could really have cost us. unless something dramatic happens he looks like being an arsenal player. our terms were actually better than arsenals. adam johnson is still a major possibility, he is pushing his agent to move to us and we are interested. i am confident we will either land him or theo.
dempsey no idea whats going on. man city are expected to come back on agger but this could be a late in window move. i expect a pretty mental deadline day but it's just a real shame we couldn't tie sahin up before the weekend.

Look, I know it was a bad loss on Saturday, but I just have trouble buying the narrative that a professional footballer would leave a career decision up to the result of one football match. He might as well have flipped a coin in that case. It's for that reason that I cannot believe ANY Sahin story (or any transfer story) that states 'the result on saturday really cost us PLAYER X.' Rubbish.

Yeah right........ I believe u...... Honest !

Rednick

Has nothing to do with the result you person we made an offer of loan to buy as did Milan arsenal did not they offered 3mil plus paying the maj of his wages and then he returns to Madrid this seemed the best option in nadrids eyes I love fans like you using one bad result on the opening day of the season as a reason your half baked rumour never came through

Let's be honest the result wasnt great, but did we get out played for 90mins? were West Brom that good, we should have finished our channces no doubt....but this whole "because of the result.....blah blah" its nonsence Sahin clearly has a preference simple as.

Al

Sahin - Arsenal offer Champions League football and probably a better guarantee of regular football with Song gone. At Liverpool he would probably only be cover as a loan signing as I would expect BR would want to give the majority of game time to LL, SG and JA when they are available as the permanent players.

"I was the first one to post about sahin weeks ago" ... Total and utter rubbish you're no more in the know than any other loyal LFC fan and you know it ... do yourself a favour and stop being such a deluded moron! Fact is you got all your info from the internet that thousands of LFC fans have already read about ages ago so nothing you have written is new. You're full of bull and you just proved it.

He is going to Arsenal - remember the champions league?

Almost...and nailed on in the same sentence. It's either yay or nay. Bit like saying we nearly beat wba really...
