Express saying saints what Sturridge in January and to buy in the summer for 25mil. Any truth ed .

{Ed002's Note - I assume you mean a January loan - I cannot even consider that the club would let that happen with Ings out and DS part of the first team squad. Certainly a sale in the summer would make a little sense - but would he want to be playing in Southampton? I would doubt it.}

Hi Ed! Great site! I have been working in Germany and a German electrician told me Marcel Schmelzer will be moving to Anfield in the January transfer window. Have you got any confirmation for this rumour? Cheers Ed!

Yes, he's a powerful player with electric pace, but I've heard he blacks out the night before games and has meltdowns in training.

Does anyone actually think Van Dijk is any good or an improvement on what we currently have? Do you ed? Also why is everyone asuming we are after him? Is it because he is a Saints player and had an ok game aganst us or are we genuinly interested ed?

He is a very good centre back in my opinion. We need another centre back to compete with matip, Gomez and lovren. Sakho is going and everyone else we have are not good enough.

I agree with you 100%. It's not about individual players it's about the partnership between the two. You can have two players who are not the best individually but amazing together.
I just know we need another centre back, however I couldn't tell how well he would sit with our other centre back, that's the manager and scouts job. A lot will come with training but sometimes with certain players it just happens.

I am really impressed with Matip, not so convinced with lovren but in my opinion he is definitely good enough to keep. I would try to get someone to go with Matip and keep lovren and Gomez for back up and rotation. This is we improve defensively in my view.

Redwin. we have matip Lovren Klavan Gomez and Lucas already. It makes zero sence adding another cb? He will be megga expensive and eds has said no interest.

Klavan is not good enough and Lucas not a centre back. Lucas is only a back up plan, I wouldn't want him in that position for a sustained run of games.
Lovren long term is not the answer either if we have he ambition to be the best so what do you suggest we do to improve at the back?

I know what your saying but all I am sayin is we have 4 centre backs plus Lucas vying for 2 places. Before we bring anymore in we would need to move some on. The talk about Van Dryk has only come about because he is a Saints player were we like shopping from.

Eds, can i ask your thoughts please on if centre backs is an atea we are looking at recruiting in?

We need someone top drawer to partner Matip, am convinced its not Lovren and unfortunately Sakho has ruined his chances with Klopp. I hope Gomez will get there but his injury and inexperience mean that that's at least 18 months away. I doubt we will go for Van Dijk, irrespective of ability, but due to cost surely Klopp will be looking at the Bundeslige again for a partner for Matip.

I don't think the Lovren-Matip is as bad as people are making it out to be. Sure, Matip is the better player but Lovren has improved a lot under Klopp. Lovrewn is as good or better than Cahill, and I don't see any slating of Cahill anywhere. I think the differences between Van Dijk and Lovren are that Lovren is probably a tad quicker and more agile, whereas Van Dijk is a more imposing figure and better in corners and set pieces. Now it's up to the club if they want to spend 20-30 million for these differences.

I think that the whole defence will sbow a steady improvement at the same rate as Karius gets experience.
The more that they play together the better they'll get.
I think Lovren could finish the season with 5+ goals
Which could be crucial.
