May the Kagawa rumours commence.
Rumours in the media that negotiotaions for contract extensions have failed.
Personally, I think he'd only be useful on the wing, but haven't really wathced him play in such a position.

Drigan

So you think he would be useful on the wing but you havent really seen him play in that position,so how did you arrive at this conclusion?

eds do you know if there is any interest from liverpool in lodeiro, welliton or abel hernandez? thanks {Ed002's Note - None that we are aware of.}

Hi eds do you expect players that are playing in the euros to move after the euros if they are transferred?

Also did Liverpool leave alone the jan market because they didnt see value for money?

Also is Agger fit for sunday?

Cheers mighty reds {Ed002's Note - (1) In the main, yes. (2) No, Liverpool attempted a couple of things but they never worked out. (3) He should be.}

Ed what did we try in jan window that didnt work out? thanks steviep48

why are we looking at right backs when we have 3 good english ones already kelly ios great back up and I for one rate Johnson enough to keep him at least for now thiughts? {Ed002's Note - Regardless, there is no doubt that Isla interests the management.}

Hey ED(s) is Isla definately being looked at as a RB or is he being looked at to fill vacant RM role? Cheers,

MansfieldRED {Ed002's Note - Isla is predominently a wing back or full back. I would not see him as an ideal candidate to play in front of a right back - it seems perhaps overkill.}

Kelly is a centre back as far as im concerned. and Johnson is on a lot of money. If johnson can be convinced to reduce his wages then maybe we won't attempt to get isla

23 Feb 2012 18:40:43
Are we looking for an understudy to Reina? or is it too early? It doesn't look like Nordfelt is going to join anytime soon. Is Gulacsi a good enough goalkeeper or will he always be back up? {Ed002's Note - Nordfelt is a free agent and can join at pretty much any time. There was a suggestion the deal would be completed the first week of February but everything has gone quiet.}

How you doing edd was just wondering if you knew of any intrest in crystal palace's wilfred zaha looks like he's gonna be one for the future and think we would end up regretting it if he joined one of the other top clubs I believe there is intrest for blackpool's matt phillips but if we could get a decent price why not go for both? Cheers mate {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool in Zaha.}

Hello Ed002,
I'm reading that Juventus are interested in Suarez and willing to pay up to 35m euros. Not sure if true, and not sure if the club and the player would consider such deal. Any ideas? {Ed002's Note - Palermo have expressed a strong interest in Suarez and PSG and Juventus are also looking likely to enter any summer bidding for the player. I suspect the 35M euros (around £30M) figure is based upon what Liverpool's expectations are likely to be.}

I think lfc would want more like double that. Also the reliable lads from THE Times have been told that suarez doesn;t want to go and the owners don;t want to sell him

Suarez should not be sold for anything less than £50million

Wales

He will be a Liverpool player all his life never will he move and i wouldn't sell him no lass then 45 mil COME ON THE RED MEN AUNDAY GOOD LUCK

He's worth at least 50m, he's a model professional, scored almost 10 times this season and is consitantly available to play every game. :)

If he leaves that horrible man ferguson wins. Luis must stay.

23 Feb 2012 17:40:43
ed if saurez does go do you think we will replace him with 1 or 2 strikers {Ed002's Note - The club are a striker short at present. There may of been the expectation that Morgan might of steppped up but that does not seem to be the case. So regardless there will be one striker and if Suarez were to leave either another striker or perhaps an attack minded midfield player.}

Yossi Benayoun now said in an interview that he hopes and thinks to move next year to a mid-table team because he wants playing time. playing for two three years and then to retire
Tom Red

He can just stay with arsenal then haha

Why not just stay at the arsenal then?

Who gives a s**te bwt him. He an get relegated with the goners

I think Yossi did a great job for us.. fair play to the guy.

Tiz YNWA

Hope he has a good end to his career. Will always respect the player, will always remember his header against Madrid.

Ed what are the chances of signing John Guidetti from Man City next season? He's not likely to get many opportunities there and we don't need to buy a high-profile but he will be top class in the future. Makes sense in my opinion but what do you think? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any chance at all.}

23 Feb 2012 17:02:25
Ed, not asking are we likely to sign Christian Eriksen, Champions League or not, but are we interested in signing him and, if he leaves, how much will he leave for and will the price be within our budget? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and AC Milan have shown an interest in Eriksen. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan remain the most interested club. Back in mid July someone from the Milan Press Office told me he had heard of interest from Manchester United and that may well be the case. The player has expressed an interest to move to Spain. As such, I would expect that there may be a chance if Liverpool achieve CL qualification and there is still interest. Price wise it is tough to say, but perhaps something in the order of 20M euros. Against this is the probability that the club have other priorities.}

Who are the other priorities? {Ed002's Note - There has been interest in a right back/wing back in Isla (although he is injured right now), a winger in the form of Matt Phillips, a stiker (perhaps De Jong or some one of that ilk. There is in my view a good chance that Tevez will need replacing as well.}

Hi Eds, saw something in a recent post. Is Jefferson Farfan a free agent in the summer? I think he will be a decent option for right wing IMO. He's got pace and stamina, and reminds me of Antonio Valencia

Thx {Ed002's Note - Assuming Farfan does move, I expect Italy with Inter, Juventus, Palermo or Roma most likely. However, interest from England will not be out of the question and several clubs (Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea to name but three) are looking for wide players. Schalke made it clear that they would sell in January for 7M euros, but a niggling injury kept buyers away. As such, he will be available for a free transfer this summer.}

at Ed002?

So Glen Johnson is likely to leave & Ed002 seems very much convinced of it. If those clauses in his contract are true then he should leave but can't the club offer him a new deal without those clauses. He is has been very useful player for us I want him to stay. But if he leaves we need someone who can replace him, a fullback who can play on both flanks (Kelly certainly can REPLACE Johnson offers much more versatility that we may lack if he leaves) ..IF Glen leaves we have Kelly & Enrique as full-backs. But what if they gets injured, we know what happened when we played Skrtel at right back. I am not convinced of Flanagan & Robinson. May be they can provide cover for one or two matches but not for few months or for whole season. if anyone Kelly/Enrique goes out for months or for the whole season. we are screwed..
Isla seems a very good replacement for Johnson.. but sadly he is injured but what other choice do we have... I would like to sign someone WHO CAN COVER BOTH FULLBACK POSITIONS.

{Ed002's Note - I am convinced that Neymar will not be joining Liverpool but I don't think it is fair to say that I am "very much convinced" of Johnson leaving. I think it likely.}

Why do you think it's likely that Johnson will be leaving? Just wondering I keep hearing rumors but nobody ever gives me any really answer to how they came to this conclusion. Once again this isn't an attack on your opinion or sources Ed I would just like to be better informed to why one of my favorite players might leave our great club. {Ed001's Note - well partly because I was told he would be available by someone who should know. But the main reason why I believe him is simply because it makes sense. His performances this season have been, quite simply, mostly abysmal, except when played out of position. He is paid far too much and we have a far better player waiting in the wings in Kelly.}

Sorry ed i do agree about neymar but it doesn't mention his name does it ? {Ed002's Note - The point being don't put words in to my mouth.}

Rubbish that Johnson is leaving, your adding 2 and 2 together and getting 5, Johnson is better than Kelly and can play either right or left back. He is part of the best defence in the premiership this season why exactly would Liverpool sell. And if Liverpool were intent on selling why exactly is Johnson playing every week ahead of Kelly.

Do the management think that kell y is better than johnson?

I think that Johnsons positive qualities far outweigh his negative qualities. If half of the team displayed his bottle and ability on the ball, especially at Anfield when the crowd get edgy, then we wouldn't have drawn so many games. He's one of the few who doesn't go missing when we struggle against lesser sides, unlike Downing, Adam, and a few more you could mention.

David

Ahhh so youre not 'very much' convinced that Neymar will not be joining Liverpool then? Sounding more and more plausible each time Ed002 mentions it....

cozinoz

Robinson is quality. You obviously dont watch the kids play, you bell end

Hi Eds, new to this site and if things go on a divorce is imminent, she is sure i am lookin at some shady sites early hours of the morning, and i must admit i did once - by goin on the bluenoses site for a laugh. i wanted some info on liverpool fc and as we all know if you want to know anything about liverpool ask an evertonian seein as they are more interested in our situation than their own. Anyway, sorry if this has been brought up but could you please advise me as to the poss reason why glen johnson would be poss leaving liverpool. Due to circumstances beyond his control, injuries to other players as well as the suarez situation, along wity skrtel he has been our most impressive/consistent outfield player. The odd mistake here or there but find me a player who never makes a mistake. Thanks a lot for such a formidable site and if you could put me right on this issue it would be most appreciated. Ta. {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

Spot on mate, Johnson has done better than most this season, but Skrtel has been immense, seemingly thriving on the extra responsibility he's had without Carraghers involvement.

David

Eds, anything on either dos santos? Spurs' & barcas? {Ed002's Note - NO, but neither will likely be moving to Liverpool.}

23 Feb 2012 12:52:33
any interest in Cristian Tello of Barcelona ed ?
Great young player and i believe his contract is up in the summer ?

Cheers

Welsh red {Ed002's Note - Tello's contract is not up this year but it is expected that Barcelona will offer him a new deal. As for interest from Liverpool I don't know.}

Hi EDS
not really a question, more looking for your opinion. Nearly everyone that comes on the site mentions well known and expensive players that we are linked to. I was wondering if any relatively unknown has come to your attention and really takes your fancy
Regards {Ed002's Note - I am not going to mention any young boys that take my fancy as it will no doubt lead to another restraining order. However, two players that Liverpool are interested in are Matt Phillips and Kristoffer Nordfeldt.}

I beleive that nordfelt is a free agent so if he wants liverpool then we should get him {Ed002's Note - He is.}

23 Feb 2012 12:11:21
ED001 Back a few years ago when there were stories that Gerrard may have left to join Chelsea did he really consider leaving some say that a fee was also agreed is this true ? {Ed001's Note - yes, he did consider leaving and, at one point, had decided to go, but he changed his mind and stayed. The important thing is that he made the right choice in the end.}

What was his reason for staying? {Ed001's Note - because he knew is wouldn't matter what he won at Chelsea, it would not mean anything like as much as winning even one match at Liverpool to him. There were a lot of people leaning on him to stay etc, but the final thing that convinced him was that.}

If you read his autobiography he explains his reasoning and state of mind.

Ed. Where do you think we will strenghen in the summer. Defence midfeild or attack. {Ed002's Note - The summer is a long way off but it seems that there has been interest shown in a right back, a right sided forward and a striker. Perhaps add a young goalkeeper to that.}

Right sided forward or right winger and have we not got enough young goalkeepers, Ed002?

Keith {Ed002's Note - We know that Liverpool have been looking at an out of contract goalkeeper who is 22 and with Doni likely to leave he may take his place. Additionally, Liverpool have been looking at Matt Phillips from Blackpool - attach whatever tag you want to him in terms of position.}

They've just signed a young goalkeeper in January

GEG

Hi ed, Do u see we are also interested in a CAM some one in the mould of silva and mata. I mean some one like gaston ramirez or others. Thanks

AJ {Ed002's Note - As I have explained before, Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool but I remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club. I don't see such a player as being as much of a priority as it will be to replace those leaving, e.g. Kuyt and Suarez.}

Cheers Ed. I presume you are talking about the Swedish GK, but strangely I thought we had already signed him, which is why I asked the question!

Keith

{Ed022's note - brand new player profile on Ezequiel Lavezzi of Napoli. He really doesn't need an introduction but is there if you wish to find out more. www.player-profiles.co.uk - thanks all.}

When will we start seeing the 'Matt Phillips is a smokescreen! We're really going to buy [insert foreign name here]!!' on these pages? Soon I'd wager

Anyway, the interest in Phillips is there, but there's still interest in James Forrest of Celtic. Spurs were monitoring him, but that has dropped off now with the Redknapp situation. The boy has good pace, which is what we lack on the right side.

Big Dog

I don't think anything has dropped off due to the redknapp situation! as of this moment there is no redknapp situation, he hadn't asked to leave nor has he been offered any other job!

Daniel Levy knows that Redknapp is considering the England job, and everyone knows he tops the FA list. Therefore, you'd understand the reluctance to monitor players wanted by the current manager who MAY not be in charge in the summer.

Big Dog

Levy does a lot of the buying, very good scouting system and some very good advisors, I may be wrong but I don't think I am, modric and vdv were bought by levy and not the manager??

VDV was not one of Harry's, this is true, but he's a proven international player of pedigree that was bought for a snip. James Forrest is likely to command anything from 4m upwards, and I know that no Spurs scouts have been around the past few weeks. If Harry goes, I'd hang my hat on Forrest not joining Spurs (unless something crazy happens like Neil Lennon gets the job!)

any other rightbacks we're looking at ed? isla long term injury, dont think we'll be looking at him anymore right?

Kaizer {Ed002's Note - He will certainly need to prove his fitness. I don't know of any other right back being looked at currently.}

Rumored players coming in:
Sturridge or Fletcher
Dempsey
A Johnson
Ramires
Isla

Players out
Kuyt
Maxi
Shelvey
Cole
Aquilani
Johnson

All of the players you mentioned are not Liverpool quality apart from Isla and Johnson Ramires is the chelsea guy not Gaston ramirez who is a lot better

Shelvey out, a young English player with huge potential. If we start getting rid of players like that there's a problem

Dont know what you are saying.shelvey is a great player.kuyt is got some years left because he is a hard working player.

Why would shelvey leave at 18? got a really good career ahead of him. johnson i still think will stay. scores more then our mids.... and spearing has a better chance of leaving but i do not think he will either as he is a good back up to lucas. doing a fine job.

sturridge is a camera hog. dont like the way he plays, ramires of chelsea? back wards. gaston step forward. isla could still see it. dempsey is to old. got a great chance for L De Jong should he impress at euro's

Maybe KK is the man to get TORRES firing AGAIN!!
