Hi ed's just seen this article and thought I'd share: Liverpool Wants to Sign Mauricio Isla in January, Udinese Star Could Cost £10 Million

Udinese fullback Mauricio Isla is high on the wish list of a number of top clubs, including Liverpool FC. The Chilean international could make a £10 million ($15.5 million) move during the January transfer window, according to talkSPORT.

"The Chile international has also been linked with several big clubs in Italy but reports in South America suggest that Liverpool are winning the race to clinch his signature," the report says.

Isla is a key figure in a team that sits third in Serie A. He's made 31 appearances this season (in all competitions) for Udinese, so it is hard to imagine him making a January exit.

But the versatile player can play both fullback positions, as well as in the midfield. He could move to a top club and slowly work his way into the starting lineup. For a long time Udinese has been a club that sells its best players, and a sizable transfer offer -- greater than the reported fee -- could see the Italian club offload Isla.

The 23-year-old grew up in the youth system of Chilean club Universidad Catolica. He led Chile to a third place finish at the 2007 U-20 World Championships, and Udinese brought him into the fold. He has been a first-team regular since the 2008-09 season. What r ya thoughts ed's ? Nice 1 DHH L20 scouser

I think a simple move for Scott sinclair and joe allan would be cheap and great additions to the team... what do you think ed? {Ed005's Note - I like Joe Allan. Not so sure on Sinclair though.}

23 Jan 2012 23:18:55
I think we should move for Bas Dost but there is probably no interest, ed002 I noticed the Chelsea fans have p**sed you off! Don't worry though everything will be groovy once this transfer window is done!

Square tomato

Probably time to defect to the Red side, Ed002 :)

cozinoz

I agree ed should defo become one of us lol it's for the best!

hi ed's. You keep saying that you expect a couple of signings. Do you still recon a couple could be done and would they be first team players? Cheers, True Red {Ed002's Note - I have answered this repeatedly. Please read the posts.}

Ed002 wouldnt it of been easier to reply to the guys post yes or no instead of writing a sentence telling him to look for your answer {Ed002's Note - The longer answer is part of a larger programme I am running to try to educate some football fans.}

' Manager Kenny Dalglish is believed to be ready to dip into the transfer market to boost his side's attacking threat and Grobbelaar is sure a deal will happen soon.

"There are two strikers [Liverpool are interested in]," Grobbelaar told talkSPORT. "I know that [Kenny Dalglish] is looking at a South American striker who is playing in Holland and I know that he's quite close in getting another striker.

"I'm not going to be the one to actually tell you who, but I'm sure that the striker will be arriving soon." '

This was from last week. Brief research shows that the ONLY striker he could be talking about is César David Texeira Torres (David Texeira). And then someone else.

Ed, is there any strong rumours of who else we could sign?

Can't see him getting a work permit. QPR tried to get one for henrique but failed.

This was on here a week and half ago and nothing came of it!

Lazy Lad

Last weeks old news. HAHA!

Just wait and see. Liverpool will sign Esteban Granero, Honda, Krasic and a striker.

No they won't

Chris in Tamworth

Will be lucky to get one of them!

And your name and source is?

And your name is ?

They are not english?

Another poster completely full of s**t.

Just wait and see, you will be wrong. You're in dreamland!

Lazio are the club that appear the mostly likely to sign Honda at the moment. Their sporting director Igli Tare has recently visited Moscow and seemingly returned to Rome with an agreement with the player.

There are, however, two more hurdles to deal with: the cost of the player, and the fact that Lazio's non-EU slots are already filled - with Serie A clubs not allowed to sign more than two players a season from abroad carrying non-European passports.

To kill two birds with one stone, Lazio are now trying to throw Nigerian striker Stephen Makinwa or Argentine goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo into the deal. Should the deal go through, Honda would probably take Genoa-bound Giuseppe Sculli's place on the left flank of the midfield in Edoardo Reja's 4-3-1-2 formation.

LIVERPOOL
The club most Japanese and Asian fans would like to see Honda at is Liverpool. Under Kenny Dalglish's orders, the native of Osaka would have the chance to play in a more offensive role, and link up with Steven Gerrard in midfield. In a playmaker position, Honda could in turn use his strength at holding up the ball and ability to pick out a pass to find the likes of Luis Suarez and Craig Bellamy.

Still, having shelled out £35m (€40.8m) on Andy Carroll only a year ago, Liverpool's piggy bank seems bare at the moment. If they somehow manage to pick up Honda, it would be through a huge effort financially, that would result in a great deal of pressure being placed on the Japanese star to deliver instantly at one of the world's biggest clubs. Realistically speaking, the Reds' recent outlay on players means they may struggle to meet CSKA's asking price.

Taken from today. Deal isn't yet finalised so slim chance there, but If not Honda someone soon.

We let merieles go in the summer.. why would we sign another midfielder?

I was convinced that when I heard we were losing Meireles that there would have been some form of swap for Sturridge. Sadly i was mistaken.

But the simple fact is we are not finishing the chances already created, simply creating more doesn't work as against team in the top half we still can't dominate possession - I'm sure the stats of chances created put us in the top 3! We need a finisher!

We won't buy any half decent player. That's why we are being linked to nobody's! The owners need to realise that buying up future talent is ok IF you eventually play them. Our reserve players must be wondering will they ever get a chance? All this "they are not ready blah blah blah" rubbish, if they were good enough to play in the reserve team then the way the first team is they cannot do any worse. If not then the owners need to sign the "Agureos,Messi's etc and stop wasting money on ayers that will never be good enough. This is Football NOT baseball!!!

hi just a bit of info a mate of mine works at celtic park security and he said that he had heard that celtic were interested in jordan rhodes but were told he is set for a move to anfield and did not want to move to the spl

I heard he wants 2 go celtic as he would win titles and cups and chance to play in cl no chance at anfield with the clown dalgliesh in charge

Not good enuf for the epl

ste liverpool

If you're going to slag a legend at least spell his name right.

Dalglish? clown? wtf?!

23 Jan 2012 21:38:27
ive seen shaquiri linked with galatasaray. surely another one we shud b looking at. and he s already proved his worth v utd {Ed002's Note - If Shaqiri were to be available now then there would be plenty of interest including at least Galatasary, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Hamburg, Leverkusen, both Manchester clubs and Liverpool. A recent low bid from Galatasary was not accepted and they are planning on trying again to get Basel to consider selling tin this window. I am also sure if he were to become available then Arsenal would also be interested. However, for me it is tough to see him leaving a team he has been with since he was a young child - particularly during their Champions League run. Perhaps the summer is a better option.}

@stephen1martin #LFC negotiating over David Texeria. Possibility of cash plus player or cash and our player on loan.

@JenChang88Groningen-LFC negotiations over David Texeira are genuine. 3 different reliable sources incl. @plondinsky, @stephen1martin have reported it.

Reliable people, looks like this Texeira deal might have some legs

Mark

Is this not just people getting confused with the lad from portugal and bruces comment about a south american playing in holland.It seems unlikely we are to sign 2 players with the same name and David Texeria would not even get a work permit and to be honest doesnt actually look that good
TED

Whoever posted this dont no nothing, as David T has a Scottish grandmother if that fails Liverpool will try for exceptional talent, also both are close.

Theres nothing to suggest that he is an exceptional talent

Why would having a Scottish grandmother help him join an English club {Ed002's Note - It works the same as way as owning an Irish wolfhound gets you in to the national side (hi Andy Townsend).}

23 Jan 2012 21:36:19
I don't know about other LFC fans but I would love to see Granero and Krasic join us, I think they'll provide that little extra flair we've been dying for and once Suarez is back they'd fit in even better, is there any new info on these 2 players joining, Eds? {Ed002's Note - Not in the past hour or so.}

23 Jan 2012 21:36:08
what about saviola? cheap experienced good striker thoughts?
{Ed002's Note - He has just signed a new contract - or an extension, I am not sure. And he must be around 30 now.}

---------------

Ed 002 right as usual.yep, signed till june 2013 in early january and he is 30. (Ps whats with all this Ed002 appreciation stuff, how come i never heard of it before , dams.................Jim22

hey eds....considering comolli likes his statistics,i'm surprised we haven't moved for jan klass huntelaar..formed a formidable partnership with suarez before his move to milan and madrid.together they scored nearly 100 goals in 2 seasons at ajax.he has his groove back currently at schalke witi 17 goals from 27...it could be a keegan/toshack understanding

We were lead to believe that was the Carroll/Suarez partnership,that would remind us of the good old days?

23 Jan 2012 21:19:14
Hi Everyone!
I'm annoyed! its such a shame i cant look on this website and see Liverpool linked with some truely promising stars of the world
You hear Man utd, Chelsea and even Arsenal trying to sign players like hazzard and who are we linked with... Jelavic! Come on Kenny get your head in the game get Honda, Hazzard and Messi and i'll sit here happy and so will most liverpool fans who have got so fed up of the crap we get from man united fans

What do you think Edds
Do you think we are far off being a real contender?
Are we gunna have to wait for 5 years?
Is Gerrard going to get his hands on that Trophy he deserves?

Hazard and Messi? Are you deranged?

Messi?! Please let's get real. Man City's billions wouldn't even land them Messi. He's Barca for life.

The owners wage policy will not attract established big names who are capable of attracting wages of £100k plus. Hence Commolli.

Ozone

I`m afraid we will be a mid table team for a while we all need to get used to it.
Money rules for a while at least.

I feel for Gerrard in all this saving for the future
He has lost out more than anyone with the effort he put in

We cant offer cl football stage 1 is to get a top 4 finish only then can we compete for top players

Do us a favour and make it your last post eh son.

David

Extremely doubt it, and would be hugely disappointed if it happened the way i look at it add £5m and we have Honda.

BigD

Oh Good! Apparently he's a big pal of Patrice Evra. (:-(

23 Jan 2012 21:11:02
1st time poster make of it as you will but heard we are going to make a bid of 12-15m for ricky van wolfswinkel.....

Hope not, wouldn't cut in in England.

23 Jan 2012 20:49:29
Hi Eds,

Is it true we've turned down the chance to sign Milos Krasic?

Hope so, overrated from what I've seen of him.

Thanks.
AK. {Ed002's Note - I don't know - certainly there have been efforts by Joksimovic to get Liverpool interested.}

I would LOVE HIM to sign.

Good god if we have we are useless.

I would also love krasic to sign. Much better than downing and dirty dirk diggler put together!!

Him and Honda and I'd be happy. Hopefully Teixera too. Krasic could be a loan until summer. So only paying for two this window.

Jonesred

Overrated?? Look at Downing and Carrol stats at fifa... now that what i call OVERRATED!

Fifa is a game, it isn't real...get a life.

23 Jan 2012 20:44:39
Apparently were eyeing Pablo Hernandez of Valencia, doubts on if it would go through?

23 Jan 2012 20:39:57
How many of you have to be spoon fed these rumors?

Do you honestly not read before you post? Why should the Eds be expecting to regurgitate the same information to every person who hasn't taken the time to see what they've already had to say?

Save EVERYBODY the time and read first. There's a very high chance that it's already been answered.

Use the search function. Read first. Use your head.

JCS

Wow, them magical words are really gonna make the difference and stop people from asking the same questions...who was that post really for, the eds, or you?

How many times have you walked into a department store and looked at the store map? Probably never as its easier to ask a team member as its their job/site. Its the same here. People dont want to read someone elses comments being answered they want their own questions answered. Remember its also the good feeling of seeing your comment being posted. The eds have made a fantastic site for all our fans they got to now live with the burden of answering the questions or simply dont answer with anything.

S

I take it upon myself to find my way around a department store, because I'm an adult. And, I'm happy to say, that finding my way around a department store (let alone a website) is well within my realm of capability.

People want their questions answered, not everybody else's? Really? Are you saying that the Eds don't repeat answers?
If so, you must not be a very consistent reader...

If you take the time to look, I'm sure you'll find the answer to your burning questions.

And my comment is directed strictly at readers ” nothing to do with the Eds. They answer the same questions multiple times a day. How hard is it to use the search function?

JCS

Um, JCS, the people your post is directed at are never going to find your post... Or are you planning to repeat it every day?

And you are regurgitating exactly what many others have tried to "preach".

As always it is likely to go ignored by all as you have no influence whatsoever on the users of the site.

I appreciated what the Ed's do as much as anyone and love the site but as said before its kind of in the terms of the job to answer your customers especially in a forum setting. Otherwise don't post the original (repeated) question.

I am sure as the big boy that you are you understand this.

Well maybe people dont have as much time on there hands as you have, anyway its not your job to tell people how to use the site, If people want to ask a question let them its doing you no harm. I'm on this site everyday and yes I do see similar questions asked with the same repeated answers which does not bother me as I simply move on to the next one. What does annoy me is when I have to read arse licking posts like yours which have nothing to do with rumours. So if you dont have anything decent to say dont say it, leave it to the Ed's to have a go at us. As for finding your own way around a department store, I'm very proud of your achievements I bet Christmas shopping is a ball with you.

I just made it 188. Keep up the good work, mate.

Haha Ed 002, I so know you're a lady. Your comments and replies are in close allingnment to those of my girlfriend's. Anyways, all the more reason to love you.

23 Jan 2012 19:56:19
Eds, not a rumour, well it kid of us but would love a reply if you know, can Raheem Sterling go out on loan? Apparently Swansea, Norwich & Bolton are interested.... Cheers Jay {Ed002's Note - No he can't go out on loan so their interest makes no sense.}

Why cant he?? {Ed002's Note - He is but a babe in arms. Not old enough. There are rules to protect children now - these aren't Victorian times any longer.}

I thought he could go on loan once he turned 17? He was 17 in December.... :-/

Has to be 18

23 Jan 2012 20:20:01
still cant believe we never made move for honda. he s exactly what we needed creative and good at free kicks

As said before, its CLEAR that the club aren't interested.

Isn't that what Charlie Adam was supposed to be?

Didnt they say that about Charlie Adam!

Charlie Adam is just a small fish in a jig
Pond tbh

Stil time mate.. fingers crossed

Yeah, because we don't have Gerrard or anything to take free kicks, really lacking in that department.

23 Jan 2012 20:13:02
Any news on Abel Hernandez? Looks the deal and Uruguyan, very fast and good with head bound to score loads! eds you got any comments on this?

{Ed002's Note - He won't be moving anywhere in January.}

23 Jan 2012 20:11:13
Can you please answer these 3 questions. Are we actually interested in Jelavic? If we are, will we sign him and how much will he cost? Thanks :)
{Ed002's Note - You obviously have not read the other posts.}

23 Jan 2012 19:51:53
what about saviola? cheap experienced good striker thoughts?
{Ed002's Note - He has just signed a new contract - or an extension, I am not sure. And he must be around 30 now.}

He is 30 ed, think its an extension.

I support Benfica and to be honest he's not really getting a look in at the moment, he's used sparingly and i think it is out of mere respect for what he has done for us over the years that his contract has been extended. Dare i say it, but the most exciting player in terms of prospects for the future is Rodrigo - seems to be loved in Spain when he plays for their unders' and has begun to start scoring for fun at Benfica, including becoming a more frequent 1st team starter.

If he were to leave Benfica, then i'd prefer him to go to LFC than anywhere else, although a sale looks highly unlikely

23 Jan 2012 19:50:18
Hi ed's

I have been watching Marco Reus(Dortmund) and James Rodriguez(Porto) play lately and they would be great additions to our squad, any interest? {Ed002's Note - Reus plays for Borussia Monchengladbach but has agreed to move to Dortmund in the summer - so no. Porto will accept 45M euros for Rodriguez - no.}

23 Jan 2012 19:49:35
Just checked some Dutch websites out (with the help of Babylon translator!) and it seems that the ones reporting that we are out negotiating for Texeira are using Kopsource as their source. Kopsource are using them as their source. So it's really just a self perpuating rumour with not much truth in it!

Sean. {Ed002's Note - Exciting stuff eh.}

@stephen1martin thinks otherwise. Most reliable source around.

You have no idea Ed002! :o) I was bored of reading people asking you the same question time after time about him, so i thought i'd see if i could find anything myself to save you the trouble. after that, I wouldn't fancy doing your job for a big c*ck ;)

Sean {Ed002's Note - A big what?}

23 Jan 2012 19:41:51
Hii eds

What's the deal with teixxera is it gonna go through?? {Ed029's Note - I believe the youth player Joao Carlos Teixeira should be signed soon. Possibly tomorrow, but don't hold me to that}

I spotted him at academy youth game on saturday 21st vs man city standing with andre wisdom, took a picture with my son and have posted it on sightings Cocko Liverpool

23 Jan 2012 19:34:53
SWAP deal imminent Carroll 4 Bent! What do ya' reckon Ed's! {Ed002's Note - As I said when this first came up, I really don't see Marcus being interested in a move to Liverpool.}

I'd swap!

No he means darren bent

Ed002 is right he has recently joined mitra kuka and is not available.

Square tomato

Ha ha legend ed.

Although if true i'd swap.

What a legend ed 02

I ask: Who in their right mind would take Carroll?

Haha good one. il stick with carroll over both of them.

Ed i thought it was 110% jason

23 Jan 2012 19:34:28
hi Eds hae lverpool loked at kevin de bruyne , this kids looks a bit special , if we don't get him , some other big club will {Ed002's Note - There is no known interest from Liverpool. The player has his heart set on Chelsea but Chelsea do not see him as ready for the EPL just yet, but he does not want to be loaned out. The original solution was to loan him to Gent for this season but an August injury and his price leaping up scuppered any potential deal in the summer. His family were introduced to several senior Chelsea staff members during the Champions League game between the sides. As Genk will not lower their price, a move to Chelsea is looking difficult at the moment.}

Do Liverpool have first option on him Ed? {Ed002's Note - No, of course not.}

Thanx for the reply eds002 ,its a pity he wants to go to chelski , never mind

23 Jan 2012 19:42:12
eds,
anymore interest in boudebouz?
he would be great in the right wing! {Ed029's Note - I'm not sure if we are still interested but if we are nothing is likely to happen for him until the summer}

23 Jan 2012 19:39:17
don't really know much of the Nikica Jelavic rumour of him coming to LFC, but there is alot of bad feeling towards it there would seem because he plays in scotland so he 'won't cut it in the prem',
BUT,
they said fernando torres would be to lightweight and wouldn't cut it, AND they said luis suarez won't do as well here as he had in Holland because their league isn't the standard of the prem, so judging by the opinions of others i hope the boy signs,
Carroll was meant to slot straight in and be brillaint, WRONG, those that are doubted seem to be our best players, {Ed029's Note - True but both Torres and Suarez were talked about as great players whereas Jelavic doesn't seem that amazing in the SPL}

If the kid can hit the back of the net he will do me because at the min we cant score for sh*t we need some players fast...
.HONDA.....

From where i'm sitting, the EPL has destroyed Torres' body and he is now not even average. Suarez has gone from 45 goals in 44 games to about 5 in 16. Yea they both stepped up brilliantly. Suarez could be great if he had mpre quality around him tbf, but Torres should never have come here. Its too physical for ladies like him.

YNWA! (Adam)

23 Jan 2012 19:32:53
Any news on Krasic coming on loan to liverpool? I know Chelsea were interested but i heard we were beating them to the deal... {Ed002's Note - Juventus will be open to good offers for Krasic but it is unclear if the likes of Manchester City, Malaga and Roma are still interested in a player who has not taken well to sitting on the sidelines. Krasic has declared his interest in Manchester United and it is not out of the question that they may be interested in him. There is at least one very influential person at Chelsea who very much likes the player and wishes to revisit earlier interest. Discussions have taken place between the clubs with view to a loan move, but Juventus want to sell and Chelsea are not keen to do that. Borussia Dortmund, Zenit St Petersburg, Fenerbahce and Anzhi Makhachkala are also interested and a bid will be certainly made by Bayern Munich. Juventus have made it clear he has no future at the club and have hawked him around a little and Joksimovic has been trying to get Lazio, Liverpool and Spurs interested in the player. They are looking for a fee of around 14M euros and Lazio may be able to strike some sort of permanent deal which is far preferable to a loan for Juventus.}

Any chance of offering aquaman and 5 mill at the end of the season. how s aquman getting on with his season loan? anyone

MF {Ed002's Note - Aquilani will probably be joining Milan when a clause is activated in his contract.}

23 Jan 2012 19:28:25
eds why are you and others worrying about the summer? what counts is the january window because we need good players NOW if we want champions league right/?
{Ed029's Note - The January transfer window is always notoriously difficult especially when players are keen to keep their international places for Euro 2012 etc. The summer is therefore very important, and easier to sign players at their value. Obviously I'd love us to sign some amazing players in this window though}

23 Jan 2012 19:29:33
We should be making every effort to sign Honda from CSKA. Talks have stalled with Lazio over price and initial loan offer.

I can't believe we haven't yet gone in. We are craving some creativity and goal threat at present, and for 14-16 million is good piece of business.

He's still young and would possibly have his head turned if we made it be known we want him at Anfield. If we signed Honda and a striker ( Teixera possibly ) for a reasonable fee I'd be happy.

These would provide goals in my opinion and possibly 22 million combined is good for today's market.

Ed has there been any. News that we could possibly move for Honda?

Jonesred

{Ed002's Note - The only issue with Lazio is freeing up non-EU quota place. I fear Liverpool have long missed any chance of Honda, although I think he would be a very good buy.}

23 Jan 2012 19:23:02
i work in a bookies and we have a customer who works in the yard charlie adam keeps his race horse and he was saying today that kenny dalglish will see out his contract at lfc obv depending on appearances etc but will then take a backseat as carragher will be replacing him. do any of you eds believe this info could be correct? {Ed002's Note - No.}

HAHA, priceless !! carra will without doubt be a good manager when his day comes ....but your suggesting LFC will be his very first mangerial job, HAHA, needed a giggle, cheers bud !!

I don't care if you manicure KD's toenails this is as big a load of rubbish as I've ever seen on this site!

Where do these people come from??

Ha. Even if that was FSG's plans. Why would they tell Charlie Adam? (or any anyone else at the club for that matter)

Kebabthief

Although i agree carragher would be a good manager wen the time comes and i have no doubt will be liverpool manager or in the runnin for the job in the future i do however think it will be years from now but no need 2 slate d lad who wrote this he was just passing on what he had been told

I did hear a rumour that after Hodgson left there was a vote in the boardroom for the next manager. The two leading candidates were Dalglish and Carragher. Dalglish won by two votes.

I don't like putting new managers in top jobs. Although, I don't like retired managers coming back like Keegan( Newcastle) and venebles( Leeds). I spent all of 2011 admitting that I was wrong about Dalglish. He has brought the verve back to our play. I think suarezgate and the loss of the player has affected him badly. Hopefully a good week in the cups will put his confidence back on track.

23 Jan 2012 19:20:28
Whats the situation with Nuri Sahin. Very good playmaker but he doesnt play at all

GuvTOB {Ed002's Note - Sahin is still settling in Madrid and has had an injury as well.}

Indeed he is good middlefielder

23 Jan 2012 19:17:16
Hi eds

Is the rumour about suarez leaving for Intel or real Madrid true?

{Ed002's Note - There may well be interest but whether he leaves or not is an entirely different matter. This issue has been discussed at some length already.}

I hope not, we need to keep our best players, i dont think spurs would be 3rd if they let modric go

He's been linked to getting a job in a processor factory? Oh no!

The processor crack is one of the funniest and most subtle on here for quite a while!

I used to work for intel and saw Suarez in the canteen few times, excellent excel skills.

It's always difficult to know if a player in the SPL could cut it in the premier league, but thank you for your response.
Would you say a striker is our number one priority this January?
Thanks again!
Hooch.

Eden Hazard: "With all respect to Chelsea, I'd rather join a club with history such as Liverpool or Arsenal."

Is this bulls**t or what? If it isnt bulls**t LFC should try a bid with Cole + money.

{Ed002's Note - Try not to be so naive.}

Ofcourse its true why would he go to chelsea anyway chelsea got no history...they are not in the hunt for the title...if anywhere it would be united arsenal liverpool in this country

Ed002 you should take not of this, this Hazard lad talks a lot of sense. It's about time you forgot Chelsea and became a red. After all, you spend all day talking about us and you seem to know all about us too...

Black Red {Ed002's Note - I was thinking of changing to Manchester City if they win the league.}

Just because he likes us doesn't mean he'll
join us... Cole might talk Chelsea up. But to
be honest hazard would be devastating in
an arsenal kit. Think of the pace of him,
Walcott (who will Eventually play down the
middle) and chamberlain... Plus Ramsey.
Jeez now I've said all that I'm wondering why
the arsenal and are so downbeat! Xxx

I have not seen 1 link to where or when hazard said this, didn't he say he only wanted to go to Spain? Can someone clarify {Ed002's Note - It is simply rubbish - just move on.}

23 Jan 2012 18:47:26
Hi eds

Who have we recently been scouting a lot that has not been dealt with eg the last two weeks?

Thanks

Mac {Ed002's Note - I think the information is already out there in respect of what we know. Certainly there will be people continuing to attend matches and no doubt reports will return from Gabon and Equatorial Guinea but I can't think of any shock news that is going to happen that we have not already shared with you.}

23 Jan 2012 19:01:30
Hi eds.
Is it true that johnson maybe leaving in the summer? Why is that so? {Ed029's Note - I think it is mainly down to his £90k per week and although he is good going forward as Bolton showed he is a bit suspect defending}

'a bit suspect defending' lol...thats like saying George Best liked the odd tipple

23 Jan 2012 18:55:24
LFC and Groingen are negotiating for Texeira!

23 Jan 2012 18:42:51
Quick question for you Ed(s), and I have indeed used the search function not to worry haha!
I was just wondering, is all this 'reported' Jelavic interest from Liverpool just a tactic from him agent/father to get other clubs to bid for him? I personally wouldn't mind giving him a try at the club, because I think any fire power up front at the minute is well needed.
Thanks for all your hard work and time.

Hooch.

(P.s. Ed002, I am indeed a fan of yours on Facebook, you make this site all the more enjoyable). {Ed002's Note - I have to be honest and say I don't know where the rumours have come from. It was always known that he would want a move to the EPL but, certainly midseason, he would never get a good choice of clubs. If he wants to move now and LIverpool are not interested, his best option may be West Ham for the longer term.}

So, in essence, you are saying that the club should shell out £9million on a player that you simply "wouldn't mind giving a try at the club". It's certainly a new take on how to create a transfer policy.

Didnt the rumours start with jelavic's father saying he would love jelavic to play for liverpool? Correct me if im wrong

23 Jan 2012 18:41:20
hi ed, are these texeira rumours true because i dont feel like he his the answer yes he does look good for a young player but the pressure on him to score goals may be to much for the poor lad and the fans will want him to make an impact straight away not giving him a chance to settle into english fooball. Maybe i might be wrong and he will come good with the help of suarez and he does look like he could be better than carrol but personally i think we need a proven goalscorer with pace like podolski etc.? {Ed002's Note - Check further down the page.}

23 Jan 2012 18:37:37
Hi eds is there any news about kaka to Liverpool on loan I'm the January transfer market????

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any, and where would he play?}

Just behind soldado.RedTurk

I would imagine he would play ahead of Henderson, Downing, Adam, Spearing and every other average midfielder that we have at the moment. Without Suarez Gerrard and Bellamy our outfield squad would be a lost cause

I would imagine downing on left kaka and spearing/adam centre and gerrard on the right to provide carroll with quality balls

23 Jan 2012 18:26:04
hi Ed002,

How's things?

I see you are saying you still think we'll sign 1/2 by the end of the transfer window. If we complete the signing of J Texeira would that be 1 of the 2? or do you think it will be 1/2 squad players?

not saying j texeira wouldnt be a squad player but when Dalglish was asked about him he appeared to suggest he would be signed for you 'youth' team

Cheers,

Nick49 {Ed002's Note - Nick when I originally siggested one or two I was not thinking of the reserve players. I was thinking of first team squad players.}

Cheers ED, appreciate the reply.

Roll on the 31st {Ed002's Note - The website is down for maintenance on the 31st - we did tell you didn't we.}

Are you getting your Textiera's in a twist? J is the young mid field player from Porto's Under 19 squad. David is the 20 year old striker from Groningem.

I was thinking J Texeira was the one that is all but signed?

Ed002 i must have missed that post. damn, guess i'll have to just make names up in my head that we will sign............

Nick49 {Ed002's Note - You all need to watch the spelling a little. Joao Teixeira will likely sign up for Liverpool reserves after playing in Portugal for Sporting. David Texeira plays in the Netherlands and Liverpool have no confirmed interest in the player that I am aware of. Matilde Texeira is a 71 year old Brazilian actress who made some "specialist" films in the late 50s and early 60s. She is of no interest to Liverpool but Ed007 has more than a passing interest in her.}

So your saying we're going to sign Texeira from Brazil? Is she any good? I've never seen her play, but I'll Google her for any vids (I'll post a link).

23 Jan 2012 18:28:15
eds is there any intrest in A Cekulajevs this guy just seems to be scoring for fun and with almost 46 odd goals this season
{Ed019's Note - not that i know of}

23 Jan 2012 18:27:36
Ed Will You Be Shocked To See As Many As 4 Players Arrive Even Thouggh They All Cost About 20 million I total Together

Personally i am puzzled dont know what guna happen

Were you drunk when you typed this

He was talking about youth players
:P

23 Jan 2012 18:10:26
Robert Lewandowski- Polish Fernando Torres – 12-2-09,19:18
This chap was discussed on the official LFC forum and look at how he has turned out to be, if ever there is a player that can not only match, combine or even surpass Suarez, that him. It goes to show that there are fans that can really spot talent and i would LOVE to have this guy lining up for the Reds.
DanieRed
{Ed002's Note - Dortmund's Lewandowski has been watched by Liverpool, Rubin Kazan, Spartak Moscow (who are concerned about losing Welliton) and Lille. He could possibly move in January but Dortmund would need to find a replacement first as they are short on strikers. If he did move, I very much suspect Bayern Munich would be top of the list with a cheque in hand.}

23 Jan 2012 18:00:55
liverpool have a choice
jelavic, defoe,sow,bent personally i would favour jelavic coul teach andy how its done also only expect david texeira to arrive and krasic granero staying put untill summer

That is Hobson's choice - can only be Sow from that list

Puzzled

R u serious jelivic is terrible i live in scotland and he is good in the spl and woud do terrible in england, in my opinion we have to get defoe natural goal scorer KENNT SPLASH THE CASH YNWA

23 jan 2012 17:58:53
mauricio isla t o liverpool in the summer if all goes to plan

23 Jan 2012 17:52:01
Eds...it appears and I don't doubt your insight but as I see it every player we're linked with is a no-go. It's ok if the player is average but it's worrying that links with quality players are very dubious. I'm worried that if this state of affairs continues, we're never going to make the much needed quality push. Do you think this impasse will change and we do buy quality? {Ed002's Note - The problem is that expectations were that Cavani, Hazard, Higuain, Di Maria, Oezil, Torres etc. would be arriving. My attents to explain that perhaps one or two transfers were more likely to be the case as the shopping had been done in the summer were of course met with derision by those who think, for some bizarre reason, that Carlos Slim owns the club and has told Dalglish to run wild. Where we know of confirmed interest we have shared it (De Jong for example). Where Macca has known of interest he has shared it - but sadly folks turned on him has it turned out that it was not Van Persie and Tevez who would possibly be making the move. Macca and I, and I guess other Eds , have explained that the coming summer would be a more likely time to see a significant transfer or two, particularly if Champions League qualification is obtained. I am comfortable with what has been said and where we are - I expect a player or two to join up with the team over the next 10 days, but it will perhaps not be the £120M worth of "superstars" that some expect.}

Well said ED2 hundread % behind your comments and agree with them

mkdlfc {Ed002's Note - Post of the day.}

Eds i just hope the fans read what you have just wrote and get off your case , all i want is a player who will score goals , he doesnt have to be a star buy but one who will work hard and out in a shift for the team and fans

I think some posters on here are more frustrated at the fact that we have spent a lot of money on player's, who are not even justifying half their price tag. Add that to ageing players, like Bellamy, Kuyt, Carra and Maxi, who either suffer with injury problems or lack of quality, and all the sudden we are in need of a few players. I hope that we sign 1 or 2 but this website has very rarely been wrong so we can only wait.

Cheers GJ

Ed...thanks for you clarification regarding my query. You reply explains why I've maintained interest in this site. Yours and the rest of Eds, and Macca give very honest and professional replies...keep up the good work. {Ed002's Note - Post of the day.}

Bravo ed well said,

The problem is we are unlikely to get champions league football without a decent signing or two. Therefore it looks like we will be hearing more of the same in the summer. No big signings till we get champions league football, and we all know no champions league football until we get a few big players.
The fans are just hopeful for a change of fortune. You cant blame them, especially since this (dream) is what brings us back to this website every few hours.

Despite liverpool being a big club, u would think that would be a huge incentive for top players to join us. unfortunatly champions league qualification coupled with big wages on offer at man city an the like are always gonna be a stumbling block.

23 Jan 2012 17:50:57
Liverpool
NEED a proven goal scorer like Bent, scores in nearly every other game

p.s. this is not a rumour just my opinion

I think that we need montovillo, soldado/sow, hoillet, sinclair and mats hummels (very unlinkely though) if we are going to successfully get into the top 4 and andy c needs to be sold!

23 Jan 2012 17:36:06
Even though there's a week to go in the window, and I DON'T want it to happen, I've got a feeling that Andy Carroll will be sold
RedArmy

Ill give u a fiver for him

I won't give a view on whether I want him out or not but I cannot imagine that he would be sold in January. His form could not get a decent enough price at this time and the loss in one year would be too much to bear (face savingly)

Puzzled

RedTurk is gonna buy him just to get hin out of the team.

DONE! five quid it is and i will even drive him round myself.

ChrisE

Im all for nurturing, supporting and giving players time to settle in after all we are a family but our goal is champions league qualification and having AC and others putting in dire performances all the time is counter productive! We need to act now before we end up in mid table mediocrity. Downing hasnt worked hes not providing the bullets for AC, Adam is careless and sloppy. Kenny act now and swallow some pride. We need a new dimension even our pass and move game against Bolton was non existent. I dont want to sound reactionary but something needs to be done...Rafa Benitez sos??

Here's hoping. He has had a year now, no more excuses. About the only thing he has shown is a powerful shot. Awful touch, ridiculously slow and his positioning is dreadful. I would take 10 mil and IMO that'd be fair. Don't have a go. We need to accept we made a mistake and bring in a striker who actually scores.

He has not had a year, he got his first game 2month after we bought him. as i see it he is getting better but not good... time will come. we just just need a prober winger... as i see it. if redknap bourght him, he could the best out of him because he have quality wingers.

23 Jan 2012 17:34:55
Hi ed's

Do you know of any interest in Georginio Wijnaldum or Benjamin Moukandjo? Look like quality players {Ed002's Note - Arsenal, Liverpool, Zenit St Petersburg, Schalke and Real Madrid have all shown an interest in Wijnaldum in the past but all is quiet right now aside from recent talk of interest from Sevilla that was no doubt rejected out of hand. He only moved in the summer and I cannot see PSV selling in January and if he carries on performing well any summer move would likely be very expensive. I don't see Moukandjo moving before the summer.}

23 Jan 2012 17:26:05
Hey Eds,
i've noticed you've said you expect 1 or 2 signings. Do you really expect a quality striker or do you think it'll just be for the reserves etc. I love this site and all you do, i know you've had a 1000 questions like this but i think we're all getting quite concerned that no-one will actually sign (for the first team). Cheers {Ed002's Note - And it is of course the same answer - I cannot speculate who will sign. I get trashed when I explain that Cavani and Hazard will not sign, so I will say them.}

But do you expect a first team striker? {Ed002's Note - Cavani and Hazard and another first team striker?}

No as in someone who's a decent striker. obviously not the likes of them. not a superstar but someone who can play instead of carroll or suarez when needed

23 Jan 2012 17:11:56
Hi eds,
is there any truth in the rumour which links us to Pablo Hernandez of Valencia? {Ed002's Note - Will most likely not be moving from Valencia this January. Past interest has been shown by Italian sides Palermo, Fiorentina and Napoli but I suspect he will stay in Spain if he does eventually move.}

23 Jan 2012 17:11:06
hi eds , any knowledge of us looking at patricio rodreguiz , looks a serious talent at young age , type of player we are crying out for , fast , can run with the ball , creative {Ed002's Note - Independiente's Patricio Rodriguez has been hawked around Europe all of this year without much luck. Benfica seems the most likely destination if he is to move.}

23 Jan 2012 17:09:02
I am no ITK but I did hear a little titbit today which might interest you. A mate of mine fixes photocopiers for a living and was at LFC today. A piece of paper jammed in the machine was a resume of Clint Dempsey. No mention of prices or offers just his details.

Ian

!! That is all.....

............ ROFL

Incredible post, thank you for my humour for the day.

Now if you had said fax machine I still wouldn't believe that stupid story

Haha I've heard it all now, sensational piece of fictional writing.

If only he'd looked on the other side he'd have seen Lionel Messi's details!

That is fantastic, I found a piece of paper in the printer at Uni in Crewe with a Crewe badge then Messi, Ronaldo and Zidane's pictures they must be signing soon

...u made my day..seriously, make more posts and keep the mood here

Great, keep 'em coming!

Yeah right nobody knows who Clint Dempsey is eh, he or his agent has to send in a CV !!! ha ha ha the best yet and apparently he says his hobbies are sport (football), travelling (around the world for internationals) -

Haha awsome love posts like this

Why photocopy a CV, when you can just print his CV off twice that was emailed

You promised that you weren't gonna let Clint Dempseys agent on again!!

David

Yeah ok - a mate of mine cleans toilets for a living and he was also at liverpool today and he saw andy carrolls career down a toilet

23 Jan 2012 17:02:47
These ture eds?

1) Liverpool FC have distanced themselves from reports suggesting they are leading the chase to sign Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic

2) Rennes have ruled out the possibility of cashing in on Yann M'Vila this winter - but the player's agent has hinted he could leave in the summer.

3) Liverpool are leading the chase to sign Udinese defender Mauricio Isla.

Please post:) {Ed002's Note - (1) Apparently; (2) His agent is rather over active in what he says. Rennes do not wish to sell; (3) I don't see Isla moving in January.}

Can't score a goal to save our lives so our main target is ANOTHER defender! Yeah I believe that!

23 Jan 2012 16:39:58
Hi eds would you say that D.Teixeria from groningen is the most likely signing as a striker we will make? Also have we started negotiations with the club. Also i believe the club have no interest in jelavic and its his father talking the deal up is that right?

Cheers
mighty reds {Ed002's Note - I cannot say who the most likely is. As I have said repeatedly, I don't know of any confirmed interest in Texeira.}

23 Jan 2012 16:37:01
Not really a rumour but a bit of 'info' regarding jelovic, I was recently on holiday in Egypt, where I got quite friendly with a Scottish bloke who claimed to be involved with rangers in some respect, can't remember in what way he said, but he was adamant the jelovic would be a Liverpool player by the end of January, didn't really believe him at the time as it was late november, and there was no talk about jelovic at that time, make of it what you want but thought I'd pass it on.

23 Jan 2012 16:32:34
Liverpool FC have distanced themselves from reports suggesting they are leading the chase to sign Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic.

The Croatian frontman's father has said he expects the 26-year-old, who is the SPL's top scorer with 14 goals this season, to move to Anfield before the end of the transfer window.

But the Reds have played down their interest in the frontman who is being pursued by Fulham, Queens Park Rangers and West Ham.

Liverpool have been offered Juventus' Milos Krasic with the Serie A outfit keen to off-load the out of favour winger. However, Krasic is being touted around Europe this month and there is no indication that the Reds are going to make a bid for the Serbian international.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas is set to return to Melwood today after flying back to Merseyside from Brazil.

The midfielder, who is sidelined for the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament injury, spent six weeks recuperating in South America after undergoing surgery in early December.

23 Jan 2012 16:24:06
Lfc are hoping to bring in a couple of experienced players in January.Esteban Granero is looking likely in midfield.He is all action and likes to keep the tempo of the game high and doesnt mind getting stuck into the tackle either.He is 25 years old i believe and would be a good solid buy.Palermo's Abel Hernandez is wanted as he is Uruguyan and just 21.Can play wide or down the middle and has got pace and a good goal scoring record in Italy.Suarez wont leave in Jan but there is several who might do in the summer if their form doesnt improve.Carroll,Kuyt,Johnson,Adam and Maxi are possible outgoings at the end of the season.No big names will leave in Jan and Torres wont return,get used to the idea.

Would like to see Abel Hernandez as would be a good buy/re sale value and at a good price at £10m-£15m

Just a quick question mate. who told you all this or is it just what you think?

23 Jan 2012 16:22:13
Ed, i too would love to see lroente and martinez at lfc and i know it doesnt seem likely but may hey be an option in the summer i.e do we have interest in them and would they join us? {Ed002's Note - It would depend on (a) interest being shown; (b) probably gaining Champion league qualification; (c) whether they are for sale; (d) what other options they have; and (e) if Liverpool have the money to buy them - noting that Llorente would be expensive and Martinez would be very expensive.}

Martinez is the player we should buy no matter how much he'll cost, him and Lucas in the middle would be a solid partnership for many years to come as both are young.

BigD

23 Jan 2012 16:20:03
I remember looking at the Manc page I think it was the other day and their ed007 said that Jelavic makes Berbatov look like a red bull addict.Sums it up for me really.He is nowhere need good enough for us.

Iam a rangers supporter and have been watching liverpool games, andy carrol or jelivic, why would you go and spend another 20 mill plus on striker when you could get a croation striker 200 mile up the road for 7or 8 mill, its not kennys fault andy carrol has failed to score for you,se hes a completly different player from what kenny seen at newcastle. jelivic and saurez together thats your goal scorers.

23 Jan 2012 16:16:16
we need a proven player, maybe kaka on loan, its not far fetched as he doesnt really get a game at madrid, someone like dat could really give the team a lift

Do you people ever think about anything? Like we'll afford his wages or anything.

I don't get it, if kaka, granero, lass diarra, sahin, khedira, di Maria and ozil don't get time to play then who does? Funny how everyone complains about wanting to leave for more playing time then re-sign for 5 more years...... Jokes!

Doesn't get a game?! He started at the weekend you nugget!

If he's on huge wages and can't get a game for his own side then why the hell do we want him?

Kaka yes we also need ronaldo messi and neymar, whats your point ?

This suggestion is kaka

23 Jan 2012 16:10:23
Eds I know you keep saying 1/2 come in, and I know your opinion could be wrong, we won't go mad, but who at the current moment would you expact/guess to be the one(s) coming in?
Cheers CH {Ed002's Note - There is no point speculating.}

23 Jan 2012 15:58:17
I'd rather take a punt on Jordan Rhodes instead of jelavic.
Rhodes is young an defiantly going to have a decent re-sale value if it didn't work out but he sure does know how to find the back of the net league one or not.
skurks

Can you imagine the stick the kid would get if he didnt score a hatrick in his first game!..
As much as I would take him defo.. I think we need an expereinced player that can deal with the stick if he dont get off to a flying start.
ItsNotRocketScience

Yeah i agree we need a more proven experienced striker but if it was a choice i'd prefer Rhodes than Jelavic.
skurks

23 Jan 2012 15:58:15
eds, any chance in getting vagner love or junior hoillet in jan
{Ed002's Note - Love will probably complete his move back to Brazil at some point soon and Liverpool have not, to date, shown an interest in Hoilett. Both seem unlikely.}

I would rather have x factors wagner

23 Jan 2012 15:47:05
Hello ED,
fans may say what they want but in my opinion this club deserves somone better than Jelavic. The problem is that no "big name" will come to the club unless CL is secured and this looks very doubtful this season. Again.

Suarez and Carroll (who at the time was very sought after) came to us this time last year when CL football looked even less likely. We are still a huge club with massive appeal don't forget

Catch 22

I bet you have never even seen jelivic play. to quick to judge my friend.

23 Jan 2012 15:46:39
Great site eds, im a long time reader but never posted before. This is my personal opinion not a rumour. IMO a striker is not what we are in desperate need of i know we've scored hardly any goals this season but if you look at the service AC and Saurez have had at times its easy to understand why our goal total is so low. if for instance we had signed a right winger as well as downing there would be much less pressure on the lad to perform, as he wouldn't be the sole supply line form out wide for AC. remember Crouch went 19 games before scoring his first goal for us. if we give AC better supply then im sure he'll repay the faith shown in him. He is young and is under immense pressure to justify the price we paid for him so lets give him a break and get back to supporting him and the rest of the Lads, im certain he will repay us with goals in the future.

Ali

Hooray! At last somebody agree's with me,and can see what is realy needed.
Why you were allowed to post this,and I was not a few weeks ago,I don't know?
I think Hoilett would be a good signing.Pay the money and get him now,not the summer.

Difference is that Crouch was clearly putting in the effort on the pitch. Carroll is just not working hard enough at the moment.

G-Force

Another winger to take the pressure off Downing? Cannot agree with that.Downing has always looked an average PL winger ,good crosser when he gets time but no flair,average pace and not a confident finisher.
As for Andy,I was a fan of his before his injury but to keep saying all he needs is better service is rubbish.He is looking slightly better now but most of the time he looks like he just does not fit with LFC style.I hope he does come good but have my doubts.

Carroll would make Barca's midfield look bad.
Carroll has no pace and no work ethic.
kidmillions

I also posted same weeks ago about another winger and crouch being given 19 games ...but nobody listens to me .

23 Jan 2012 15:38:57
I think that maybe re-signing Torres might not be a bad idea. If you look at his style of play it makes perfect sense. At liverpool he was able to make blistering runs when Gerrard got to the end of the centre circle, which would destroy defences. He's tried to adopt this tactic at Chelsea, but the midfield players are either too slow, or in the case of Lampard, too greedy. Also, he's up there with greedy strikers, so he's hardly going to get a look in. If, and I do stress if, we were to re-sign him, he would have the service not just from Gerrard, but from Bellamy (who's pace for a 32 year old is amazing), and Suarez. He would fit right into what's trying to be achieved, and I feel that he still has a lot to offer, as well as unfinished business.

Agree 100%
skurks

I agree that we need that type of striker but I think Torres is unlikely and there are obvious issues with form, age and comments made about the club after he left.
Samalarr.

Sadly part of Torres's problem is that he doesn't have the pace anymore as a result of the injuries he suffered at Liverpool. He is heading the same why As M. Owen

I would like to see torres back but with hes right up there with emile heskey and big andy besides chelsea dont have any strikers with drogba and kalou gone (besides laklu)
Shanio1

Except gerrard isnt fully fit yet

Oh no he's NOT coming back so get used to the idea!

I think Torres of old would be back to his best (almost) at Liverpool, I think he would score goals and if he came back I would support him like i would any player in a red shirt but.............
HE LEFT US IN THE TOILET AND JUMPED SHIP FOR A BIGGER CLUB! he has continued to talk about us unfavourably and given a choice.. I dont want him back.
ItsNotRocketScience

I for one would welcome the lad back. Yeah he made a mistake grass isn't always greener etc. But at the end of the day if got back to the old nando I watched In a red shirt I dare any1 of you to moan bringnandohome

Said this last week an got absolutely slaughtered for it haha

23 Jan 2012 15:36:55
Hiya Eds,

Is there any chance You know of a player that Liverpool are seriously looking at but we have not yet spoke about?

Thanks
{Ed002's Note - No, we don't.}

23 Jan 2012 15:31:04
Jelavic is not good enough for Liverpool FC!!! We arent going to get any big european stars cause we wont be in the CL next year, but think Darren Bent would be a good buy, hes big and quick and has a proven record of scoring goals in the PL which is exactly what we need.

Also we obviously have a problem with right wing, dont understand why Kenny doesnt play Johnson on that wing and play Kelly at right back?

Johnson is good going forward and can cross with his right or left foot but is a poor defender, and Kelly has prven already hes a solid back but would also contribute attacking wise as well.

Obviously just a stop gap until a right winger is bought.

Would like to see Adam Johnson if possible, need wingers who can actually take defenders on and need to add pace into our attack.

Carroll, Kuyt, Maxi, Adam all need to go........not good enough for our club.

Mark.

Completely agree about Johnson...good going forward, liability at the back esp in the air as the last defender at the back post. Put Kelly in at RB and Johnson on the RW.

The only problem with bent is the price tag,villa would want upwards of 20m and unless he came in on fire scoring goals for fun we'd have the usual drivel on here saying another crap english signing by KK.
paul d

Attacking from full back is a completely different game to being an out and out winger.Not saying it would not work but I suspect it is an option that Kenny has looked at and discarded.

Johnson has that clause in his contract that stipulates he must start at right back when fit, (correct me if I'm wrong ed's) so that's probably got something to do with him not having a go at RM... Personally I think it would help as a stop gap of course

Ian {Ed002's Note - I don't know what it says, but I did speculate that it is probably not as clear cut as that - you will need to dig back a couple of weeks to find it.}

Eds u reckon we could nick Honda from Lazio as they have agreed a fee a bit like the M.Sow situation, what a difference these 2 players would make and at agood price £22m.

Honda - £11.7m agreed with Lazio
Sow - £10m agreed with Fenerbache

BigD {Ed002's Note - Again, Honda has been available and LIverpool have chosen not to follow up on their original intererst. I agree Honda would be an excellent addition, but I am not so sure the management team share that view.}

Our Management team is a disgrace! Acording to the players we allready signed.

Hi again Ed's & Macca
Thanks again for all your effort to enlighten and comfort desillusioned but hopeful reds all over the world.
As I posted a few days ago, I'm a great admirer of Fernando Llorente, and I think he would have been a perfect signing for us right now. But, as Ed 001 commented, I realize that this is probably not so realistic – at least not now.

I agree with some of the posts that we should add another criteria when we value different players; Do they really WANT to play for Liverpool FC?
In addition to Gerrard and the other scousers, players like Suarez, Reina and Enrique have stated that several times, and I think people agree that they have been brilliant in most games. Charlie Adam have stated the same, and I think we haven't seen the best of him in a red shirt yet.

STRIKER
I have read a lot about Moussa Sow and David Texeira lately, but I'm not sure what to think about that. Moussa Sow has been a proven goalscorer, but not in PL. But according to a lot of different media, he has stated that he really wants to play for LFC.
David Texeira would have an advantage in Liverpool since his fellow Uruguayan Suarez surely would help him to adapt. But some people say that it will be difficult (or maybe impossible?) for him to go to PL now, because he has not enough international appearances. True?
One year ago Miroslav Klose was mentioned in a lot of different posts here as one of a number of alternatives (before we bought Suarez/Carroll) Klose is of course too old for us now. But I would like to know your view on his German team mate Lukas Podolski? Podolski is a proven goalscorer that can also play as a winger. I think in general that solid german players adapts easier to PL, than players from other leagues – and therefore may be a safer alternative.
Do you think it would it be possible for LFC to buy Podolski in January – or this summer? And to what price?

MIDFIELDER
A lot of posts is mentioning some players that I personally don't find realistic regarding a move to LFC now. I would also love to see players like Yann M'Vila and Keisuke Honda in a red shirt, but I realize that Christmas is over now and Santa Claus went home again. Eden Hazard is an Arsenal-supporter, so I think we should just forget about him no matter how skillful he is. Esteban Granero looks interesting, but I'm not sure how/if he will adapt to play in LFC/PL(?)
I would love to hear your opinion on players like Eljero Elia and Arda Turan. Arda Turan is probably one of the biggest LFC-supporters among the active players outside LFC today. I believe that he would have shown real commitment if he got the opportunity to wear the red shirt.
Turan is also known for his humanitarian work, like Carra and several others of our present players. I think he would adapt well to LFC/PL.
Do you think Arda Turan is a realistic alternative for us now – or in the summer?

The newspapers says that John W. Henry and Tom Werner will be present at our cupmatch against Abu Dhabi City. From that I assume that there will be discussions about new signings before the January window is closed. I seem to remember that the same thing happened last January, when we bought Suarez and Carroll.
I guess there will be at least 2 signings, but probably not before the end of January.
What do you think?

Finally; - I love the Ed's comment on one of the posts that suggested to remove KK; "Look up the word SUPPORTER".
Kenny Dalglish will at least have MY support as long as he wants it. If he doesn't achieve results, he will take the necessary decision by himself. He is fully capable of that, because that's the kind of person he is. I have been a LFC-supporter for more than 40 years. Kenny Dalglish was one of my biggest heroes when I was young, first as a player, and then as a manager. Kenny Dalglish should be treated with respect. Simply because he deserves it.
For those of you that only wants to support the club in the good times – you should find yourself another club. I will recommend some of the clubs in Manchester or the London area.
For the rest of us; When our beloved club is struggling, is when they needs us the most. As the Ed's said: Look up the word "supporter".

I would love to hear your opinions on my thoughts above.
Please keep up the excellent work!
Still believing in top 4!

Cheers
Red Hoffa

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to talk about prices or the summer which is still a long way off, but in terms of the others: Galatasary, Lazio, Lokomotiv Moscow, Schalke, Anzhi and Zenit and Arsenal have shown an interest in Podolski, but Liverpool have not. If he does move to England, Arsenal is certainly the most likely destination but perhaps Moscow beckons even more. A summer move may be more likely than a January move. Turan was available, willing and Cheap in the summer - again Liverpool had no interest at that time. Elia only moved in the summer so any move for him now will fall on deaf ears. I still stand by what I said before the window opened, expect one or two players to arrive.}

I am an ardant supporter of the club through thick and thin which i have been all the way. I think most Liverpool fans are over emotional about the club and the decisions that are made
Nevertheless "lets talk about facts", breaking the British transfer record on a lad that cannot even control the ball is a fatal error...I really hope it works out for Kenny..what happens if it doesnt?

What is a matter with some people? jelavic is quality. He scores with his head left foot and right, he scores brilliant free kicks. His postioning is fantastic. Not sure of his age but to me he is what we need. Some lfc fans r so fickle. So what he plays in the spl he scores goals for fun. Its midfielders and wingers who should get over hyped but for a striker he is there to put it into the net and thats exactly what he does. Rant over

gezza1982

Agree gezza1982, but really we should not have to buy a striker, Carroll should be doing what Jelavic is doing SCORING ..

BigD

I think its fans being fickle mate! The worry is motherwell, dundee and inverness defenders are not quite in the same class as Terry, Cahill, Vidic and Kompany. Rangers are quite the side they were 10 years ago.... comparable to a good Championship team at best

Totally agree - King Kenny came from the SPL!

Give him a chance

I agree bigd but the big man aint scoring at the mo. Mayb signing jelavic will make ac come good because of the compitition he will give him. No doubt ac is class but he needs confidence and i dont see it coming anytime soon.

Gezza1982

Kenny came from the SPL 33 years ago, back when the league was probably in its prime it's totally different now. My nan could finish top scorer in the SPL and she's 71

I recall diouf playin in the spl and being brilliant and were is he now oh yh league 1 ??

Seriously SPL is equivalent of the championship

LFCHero :)!

Flo, Miller, Samaras...

Muller

It's a mickey mouse league,simple as that.
If your young and comming through the ranks,fair enough.But if you want to further yourself,you have to play in the EPL.
Jelavic,is neither.Good for West Ham,maybe?Good for Liverpool,certainly NOT.

Ok what im saying is all the chances we have had this season know one is putting them away. Jelavic on the other hand is. Im not saying he is going to beat 3 men and score what i am saying if he gets a chance he will score. And at liverpool he will have loads of chances. Just because the spl aint as good as ours! Jelavic still gets into space and converts most of his chances. Sorry but just cause if he came to lfc is he suddenly gonna forget where the net is. No his not. Youtube aint the best place to rate players but look at his goal record and more of all look at his positioning then tell me he aint a natural goal scorer. If u dont then u know nothing about football. Just look at rush he wasnt one to ghost by players but it was all about his positioning and quick shooting and thinking.

Gezza1982

You've got it spot on Gezza. I agree with most fans that this lad isnt a wonderkid, and probably not bursting with talent, and playing in a poor league, but he's a goalscorer, a finisher, and thats EXACTLY what our team is missing. He isnt going to do much work outside the box but everyone else is doing that and that isnt the problem. Its the work inside the box that is lacking so i say lets give the lad a chance. The Mancs never moaned about Van Nistlerooy's movement or workrate, they just enjoyed his poacher goals. I for one would welcome the lad.

Marshy.

Jelavic is 26. It depends on how you feel.Some posters here would be happy to take a punt on a striker from the lower divisions while others want to spend £30 mill or so on a big name.I've seen Jelavic on t.v. and yes he does score goals but whether he would at EPL level is a moot point.Certainly the standard of football in Scotland is way lower than our Premier league and should we spend several million on a player that might not be able to hack it?

Gezza 1982 , thank god somebody talking sence, the post above you what a tube iam a rangers fan and the spl is that much a mickey mouse league that i remember celtic spanking liverpool in europe, so dont be too quick to judge somebody that you probly never even watched.

Marshy well said m8, i watch him every week he scores goals plus hes got a good football brain reads the game well, he would be good for yous,e hope your team doesnt rue the chance to get himand gezza 1982 well said too.

Have we been monitoring vertonghen of ajax at all he is out of contract in the summer.
I know cb is'nt a priority but would be a shame to miss out on a young quality defender who could be the future along with coates at the heart of our defence?
skurks {Ed002's Note - He is not available right now and not out of contract in the summer.}

Oh yeah sorry he said he may be looking to leave in the summer an on ssn website its saying ajax has'nt offered a new improved contract.

He would certainly be a good buy however we dont need him

One for the ed's really, everyone has their own opinions on who we are gonna sign/sell, I feel that there has been a lot of money wasted on average players, it is been well documented that Bellamy cannot play 2 games a week, carroll is struggling (big time) Kuyt aint scored since last season in the prem. My question to the ed's is: Who do YOU think we should sign and sell?? I have a list in my mind and just want to see if we have the same ideas!

Neilos {Ed002's Note - I don't expect any sales rignt now but in the summer I rather think Maxi, Johnson and Kut will leave, with replacements sought. Additionally Amoo, Cole and Aquilani will move on but I am not so sure replacements are needed. I don't want to speculate on names of any arrivals.}

I well agree, also Aureillio (spelling) should go and maybe spearing. but if it was me id do what lens or lille whoever have done with sow. make sure to get the replacement before selling them off. would love to see us look at izaguirre off celtic again and build from the back another CB would be great then focus on attack

Thanks for that Ed! I would get rid of Downing, Carroll, Johnson and Kuyt. If we can get say 50-60m for them 4 and go for raw pace, ie: Dyer and Sinclair from Swansea, maybe Ba and another forward, perhaps Soldado or Llorente!

I highly doubt we'll be getting rid of Carroll and Downing even in the summer.

In my opinion, Carroll is getting stronger slowly, I agree he's not the person who should be 1st choice of striker, and probably not even 2nd when Suarez gets back, but as a 3rd strike option he can do a job imo. Ignore how much we paid for him!

Before his injury Spearing was playing the Lucas role so well we did not miss our little Brazilian.He is still fairly young and open to improvement and he is a local lad. I think he is a good value for money squad player who is vastly under rated.

Eds was it true we had a bid rejected for richards last Jan. Surely that's a sign we want to move Johnson on. Thanks (ed002 i love your responses to some posts) ta pops {Ed002's Note - There was certainly interest last January with a suggestion that Liverpool would pay around £18M or so, but whether por not there was any formal bid is a separate matter.}

Surely Richards' wages would be too high if we consider Johnson's current wages at 90k p/w to be too high. I think he's a fantastic player, but it doesn't make financial sense to bring in Richards. I would rather us look at Isla.

Why would he want to come to lfc when he has good wages cl footbal and he is allways in the starting 11. Plus he has been captain whilst kompany has been banned

Hi eds.i just want to ask your opinions on jelavic from rangers?surely he hasnt the qualities to be good enough for liverpool? as we all no the standard in scottish football is poor.look at kris boyd for example setting the scottish league on fire and then couldn even make the cut with middlisborough in the championship?similar i think jelavic would be another poor signing for us? for 4 million extra we could get a proven goalcorer in sow from lille which i feel would be a much better signing and e wants to come to the club. we really need to sign a player that will slot strait away into the starting line up. i feel sow could be benifical to carroll and have suarez playing as 3 striker in a 4 3 3 formation when suarez returns. for all those saying get rid of carroll- he didnt ask to be signed 4 35million so just give the young lad a chance.e has been injured for the first quarter of his anfield carreer but e still not gettin the quality balls e needs. when gerrard starts and we all no e provides the killer balls and crosses wel def see carrolls true qualaties. JUST GIVE HIM TIME. chers for your time eds year doing a great job. please post.
TRUE RED

I agree with your words on Carroll. The man needs services! We need to float some balls in to him, but right now everything is hitting the first man.

On a side note, you're incredibly unfair on Kris Boyd. He was prolific at Rangers, and not so at Middlesborough because Boro were underperforming, and again not getting crosses into the box. Boyd is a striker that relies on service. He's not the type to create a chance for a teammate, but he is the guy you want hanging around the 6 yard box. As soon as he got game time at Forest (who at the time were pretty decent) he was knocking them in again.

Yes your correct, jelavic isnt good enough for Liverpool. so thatonly means dalglish will be interested in him :( and most likely to offer something stupis like 10 million .. We at liverpool must surelyhave the worst scouts in premership..

When a forward scores with an overhead kick or a scissor kick or beats his man on the near post to a header to score or receives the ball with 2 players on him but spins and finds the bottom corner or picks the ball up 30 yds out plays a one/two bursts into the box goes round the goalie and scores. Now That's the type of Player I would pay 35 Million Pounds For.
"Seriously do you ever envisage Andy Carroll doing any of these things. Better service my Ass. Andy Carroll would make Barcelona's midfield look s**te. Is it any wonder were suffering.
kidmillions

You're right we shouldn't sell Carroll, he will come good, and if we sold him at a knock off price, we'll regret it when he comes good for another team - but he needs to be demoted to 3rd striker, and we need to bring in someone else. If we are to have any hope of finishing 4th this season we need to bring in someone who can score! Chelsea and Arsenal are hardly miles ahead of us and both are having a hard time at the mo, along with us, winning just 3 of the howlers we have drawn could have us in comfortable 4th now...we can't keep relying on Andy at the mo unless we are happy to finish 6th or 7th and wait another year before we have any chance of CL football.

Hi Eds / Macca

Up until recently (work) ive watched alot of ressies and youth team games. Heard we have a new super RB called ryan McLaughlin - any news on him? - is he better than flanno?
Big Red Ed {Ed002's Note - He was the Irish kid who joined in the summer I recall. Much is expected, but he will only be 16 or 17 or so right now.}

His brother plays for Preston I think. Decent player.

He is more attacking than flano , small stocky stature

I watched lfc under 18s earlier on lfc tv,he does look a decent prospect !! :)

Watched the game against city the other day and he looks good. Very attacking, had a good ping from the edge of the box and hit the post. Looks very promising.

Ryan is a 17 year old lad from Belfast and does indeed look very good. Another lad - O'Hanlon, also Irish [Republic?] joined in the Summer amidst a lot a publicity and may be the one Ed002 recalls. I think he is still with the U16s at the moment.

Moussa Sow deal to be made in last week of the window. The reason it has been a quiet window is that clubs are waiting to get players for a cut price towards the end simple. Liverpool are working towards a fee of around £10 million and first refusal on Joe Cole in the summer. The reason that the deal will not be a cash plus player deal as it would be to hard to come to a deal in the last week of the window.

According to TalkSport, Liverpool are leading the chase to sign Udinese defender Mauricio Isla. How true can this be. Surely we have enough defenders. What we need is someone to hit that round airfilled skin between the posts. Any thoughts Ed {Ed001's Note - he is a very good attacking right back, we do want one of those.}

We need a defender only because liverpool spend so much time passing back so i reckon we need a striker and and the back passing to stop and the striker we should bring in is and i hate to say it either Didier Drogba or Edinson Cavani

A certain Glen Johnson springs to mind

Attacking RB? dont we want? or should i say NEED strikers?

Seriously if any players should be bought from Udinese then we should look at the Moroccan Benetia , unbelievable defender he is called the North african Maldini

Drogba?! Lad are you high right now? Firstly he's 34 so why would we want him (no doubt on about £120k per week) and secondly he plays for our rivals for a champions league spot... why would they sell him to us?!

Don't know why the ed couldn't be a little less rude. The person explaining where DC was did the best thing. {Ed002's Note - You think I was rude suggesting he asks the person who posted the nonsense to confirm it as correct? You are obviously way over sensitive.}

eds any truth that Liverpool are set to scupper M.Sow move to Fenerbache as we are set to make a late bid.
hope so as we need goals and pace, with Sow and Texiera from Gronigan and Krasic from Juv things mite be looking up.

BigD {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that a Fenerbahce bid has been made, rejected and a second bid made that is acceptable to Lille. They have granted permission for Fenerbahce to talk to his representatives about personal terms andthe player met with the Turkish side's representatives in Paris last week. He then made a visit to Lille before returning to the Middle East and then Africa. As I had previously explained, Moussa Sow is available and has been looked at by Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle and, accepting he was to leave, Lille who were keen on Luuk De Jong opted instead for Nolan Roux - who has now joined them. My understanding is that there were no firm bids made by any English side for Sow, but in theory one could still be made as the transfer has yet to be finalised. It would mean matiching or bettering the bid from Fenerbahce of 10M euro and a potential of 3.3M euros in performance related additional payments. It would then mean striking a deal with the player and completing the paperwork. The question that we should ask is why if this is what LIverpool want, they have not even approached Lille yet?. But, as I say, it could actually happen.}

Liverpool will only put in massive bids for unproven english crap , i can't understand people on here asking about all of these good players lol suares was a lucky find judging by all our other transfers

Liverpool have today flown representatives to Holland to hold talks with FC Groningen regarding the prospective transfer of David Texeira, according to widespread reports.

We brought you the news of Kenny Dalglish's interest in the player this time last week, and the Reds have since sent a member of their scouting department to run the rule over the youngster further with a view to a move this month. The striker netted again for his club in the recent 2-1 win over Heracles, seemingly cementing the interest shown by Liverpool thus far.

Texeira may encounter difficulty obtaining a work permit for a move to the Premier League, so Liverpool will want to conclude negotiations sooner rather than later if they wish to tie up all the loose ends before deadline day.

Does anyone know what the work permit issues might be? Kenny is looking at Aalborgs Lucas Andersen a winger,and Luc Castaignos a striker from Inter.Both are very highly rated and young.Castaignos would be a loan until the end of the season just for him to get game time,but he is quality and only 19.Andersen is one for the future because he is only 17 but is top quality and wouldnt be too expensive although it may be difficult to tempt him because others are sniffing around including Dortmund and Ajax.If we got fourth place,which is looking unlikely at the moment i would like to see us move for Cristian Erikson,but that may just be wishful thinking on my part. {Ed002's Note - If Liverpool are lookin g at Andersen then it will not be Dalglish doing so. And he cannot move before he is 18.}

And erikson wont join either

From what I've seen of Luc he looks just as average as Ngog!!

23 Jan 2012 10:20:35
morning eds. do you think that no major signings have been made yet as kenny and damien have been waiting for the owners to fly in and approve potential deals? - it will after all be their money that's being spent and not squandered like some of kennys recent buys(with the exception of saurez and bellamy).

ash240970 {Ed002's Note - No.}

So Enrique hasn't been a good signing? Look into history, most people would say that Ian Rush was one of Liverpools greatest ever players, then look at how many goals he scored in his first season! Things take time. and i'm not saying all of the signings will come good but give them a chance! Getting on their back will only make it harder ffs

23 Jan 2012 10:17:04
Nikica Jelavic could actually be the goalscorer were missing looking at his 19 goals on you tube, however that is what Carroll should be doing for us.

A sad state of affairs if were going to be slugging it out with a championship team to sign a striker, we need to set our standards higher, love the siteYNWA.

Wh would they want to sign for a club in decline?
at least rangers can offerEUROPEAN FOOTBALL!

19x

Carroll can't 'do it' as the lads confidence being somewhere around ankle level at the moment, due in no small part to the totally inept service he is getting. Even Rushie would have looked donkey-like with the kind of scraps Carroll has to try and feed off.

Maybe he has scored 19 goals,but the spl is not as good/tough a league as the premier league,i think he'd struggle down here,then we'd have 2 crappy forwards not doing the job they are employed to do !!

Just look at the quality of the scottish league.it very poor.championship is more entertaining to watch. and yes carroll is a young lad who didnt ask 35mil to b paid 4 him.wait until gerrard starts games he will provide the killer balls and crosses that will benefit carroll.wait till you see carool will rack up few premier league goals b4 end of season. and that will quietin all his critics. he knows himself if e improves his preformances he will make england squad b4 crouch. capello will bring a big striker to world cup for plan b.so in that catagory it carroll crouch and heskey but heskey no chance. great servant to the club but his best days are long gone. cheers ed.
TRUE RED

He plays in a mickey mouse leauge thats y is has scored all them goals

The prem is pish mate er whos won the league in the last 10 yrs er man utd or chelsea!! very competitve ha ha lmfao>>>> dire to la liga

Kenny and hanson played in the scottish league were they crap???????????.

ed i would like to see a winger and m'vila from rennes is there any intersed. {Ed002's Note - Inter, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, Genoa and perhaps Liverpool & Chelsea showed an interest or enquired about M'Vila this past summer. M'Vila will almost certainly not move until next summer. A significant bid from Manchester City has already been turned down. With that offer that was made for M'Vila in the summer Rennes have upped their valuation of the player to an extent where Creachcadec has said no Italian team can aford M'Vila. I would expect that there may be interest in him from PSG, Barcelona and possibly Real Madrid by the time he comes up for sale in the summer. I would be astonished if M'Vila moved in January, but his agent is telling clubs that there is a clause in his contract that can invoke a release for a single 20M euro payment to Rennes and then he is looking to negotiate a signing on fee as well.}

Nikica Jelavic may see his dream move to Liverpool scuppered since Anfield director of football Damien Comolli believes the club have better options than the Rangers striker. (Daily Express)

Brilliant atleast commoli knows what hes doing

23 Jan 2012 10:01:34
Hi Eds, just wanted to say that if Sow and Jelavic are stating that they would love to wear the red shirt then surely we should try and bring at least one of them in. We need players who want to represent the club and be a part of the team for the right reasons. I am questioning Andy Carrolls commitment and if we have players who want to play for us then surely that's what we need. {Ed002's Note - I am pretty sure the transfer policy is not based on players saying they want to "wear the red shirt".}

I want to wear the red shirt I'd be fully committed. Should Kenny and Comolli sign me?

Kieran

Me too I'd love to play for Liverpool and give my all every game. I'm absolutely trash tho

23 Jan 2012 09:57:24
Ed's / Macca - Anything more on this lad from Inter?

Cheers,

RobbehLFC.

23 Jan 2012 09:53:43
Hey eds, is it possible that we are signing antoine griezmann from real sociedad? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know of any serious interest from Liverpool in Griezmann, but he has been watched. Players are watched all of time by scouts representing the likes of Liverpool and more often than not rumours begin when a scout has attended a game and is doing no more than taking a look at one or two players. Valencia, Marseille and Lyon have shown some confirmed interest in the past and repordedly Barcelona tool a look at one time. The only club that made serious enquiries in the summer were Athletico Madrid and we are aware that such a move would have been acceptable to the player. Chances of a January move anywhere are very slim.}

23 Jan 2012 09:17:02
Hey Eds.. Do u have any idea if any of the liverpool scouts attending ACON? {Ed002's Note - There will certainly be someone representing Liverpool there.}

23 Jan 2012 09:07:07
Hey Ed's , where did all these krasic rumours come? is there a chance that he maybe joining liverpool this month? cheers {Ed002's Note - Juventus will be open to good offers for Krasic but it is unclear if the likes of Manchester City, Malaga and Roma are still interested in a player who has not taken well to sitting on the sidelines. Krasic has declared his interest in Manchester United and it is not out of the question that they may be interested in him. There is at least one very influential person at Chelsea who very much likes the player and wishes to revisit earlier interest. Discussions have taken place between the clubs with view to a loan move, but Juventus want to sell and Chelsea are not keen to do that. Borussia Dortmund, Zenit St Petersburg and Anzhi Makhachkala are also interested and a bid will be certainly made by Bayern Munich. Juventus have made it clear he has no future at the club and have hawked him around a little and Joksimovic has been trying to get Lazio, Liverpool and Spurs interested in the player. They are looking for a fee of around 14M euros.}

Hi Eds,

I for one am completely against Krasic moving to Liverpool. I have seen the player many times and although he might be good overall, scoring a respectable 7 in 33 matches for Juventus, and some more for his national team, I for one think he is not the type of player to suit Liverpool at the moment. I have many Juve friends that think he is crap too. Krasic was brought in in 2010 as a substitute for Pavel Nedved and a lot of people thought he might cut it at Juve but he didnt. He has played almost exclusively to the right of a classic 4-4-2 midfield and also to the right of a 4-2-3-1 formation for his entire career in Serbia, Russia, Italy and national team. He does have dribbling skills (his shot is not that great) and if he comes he might link well with Suarez, but he would be a luxury player as such. He lacks discpline to track back and is often selfish without end product, that is why he is benched at the moment at Juve. A midfield of left-to-right containing Downing, Adam, Gerrard and Krasic would be suicidal against any team in Premier League. Even if we substitute Adam with Lucas (or a similar player) the triangle of Gerrard, Krasic and Johnson at the right and right back is so vulnerable that any team with a faint desire to attack might have a field day against us on the right. Krasic could have worked for Liverpool if we rolled back the years and played Mascherano as anchorman and Markus Babbel at right back, but we all know that would not happen. I hope this helps to clarify things for other people who have not seem him play.

23 Jan 2012 08:59:19
Eds, is isla of any intrest? also Even though kk is saying there would be no panic buying after what happened in Bolton but we clearly need a striker.....Soldado was unwilling to move, does that mean we had bid for him?? {Ed002's Note - I am not sure that Isla is an immediate concern for anyone. As far as we know, Liverpool have not bid for Soldado although he was looked at by the club. If there has been a bid I would think it would be from PSG who have been showing interest in teh player.}

All liverpool fans know we need a striker but the problem is dalglish doesnt.. and hence we are stuck with donky carroll (cant believe that he's is a proffersional footballer, hes that bad)

23 Jan 2012 08:41:21
hi, eds. i see a lot of news floating around about this brazilian named, Welliton? who plays for spartak moscow. what do you say? would he be a good signing? {Ed002's Note - Welliton may be available at the right price but I don't see that Liverpool have any interest in him at this time. There was summer interest from Wolfsburg and Hamburg but he was always expected to move to Rubin Kazan. There was some talk in a few corridors about a deal with Arsenal including Arsharvin a little while back aswell. Oddly enough Dortmund are the most interested right now and a player exchange involving Lewandowski is not impossible.}

23 Jan 2012 08:24:40
A Times representative on Twitter has said that we have had a £12m offer accepted for Jermain Defoe. Heard anything eds?

Personally I think he would be a great signing.

Cheers

KP {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

That is a fake account. Bryn Law has even said on Sky Sports that it is a fake account.

Defoe to Liverpool wont happen

23 Jan 2012 08:14:48
Carlton Cole and seamus coleman will arrive before the transfer deadline.

If we sign Cole, you can have my season ticket for a tenner.

A poor mans Heskey, and thats being nice.

I ****ing hope this is not true. Carlton Cole!!

This is supposed to be a rumours site not a p*ss takers site. Grow up.

RASPBERRY!!
I've just blown one you dimwit!Cole is a no chance 1000 to 1 against!

Knowing kenny he'll probably do this. i'm starting to think kenny is a bit too old now

23 Jan 2012 08:10:12
hy eds,just got a quick ques.why everyone is hellishly bent on letting glen johnson go?n any confirmed signings yet? {Ed002's Note - There are no signings yet.}

Because he is lazy and cant defend

Because of his Glen's

1) £ 90,000 per week sal we pay for his clumsy defensive duties and fruitless cutting in runs
2) we have far better RB in Kelly and on lower wage

Indian Red

Did you really need to ask the Eds that, can you not see that yourself?

Did you watch the game this weekend?

I was one of his admirers - but the more I watch him the more I think he lacks passion and his body language looks like he wants to play elsewhere.

We have two class RB's who should be getting a game before this lad...Let Arry have him.

RobbehLFC

Adding on to what RobbehLFC said..

his mind wants to play elsewhere perhaps with previous employers ...who are 3rd on the table with champions league football 'certain' for next season ..

I'm sure he'll negotiate on his wages for them and shall remove RB position clause from his contract

Indian Red

I suspect that people aren't hellishly bent on getting rid of him it's just one of those band-wagon rumours that start rolling.Just like the insane Defoe for 10,12,15,or more million bids.

If any of you looked at the search function you'll see the ed's have said countless times that Kenny wants rid as glen as stipulations in his contract that if he is fit he must play right back. Yes he has played left back but there are other factors ( the proviso that they are not short on other areas etc) basically Kenny wants to play who he wants and whatever position.

23 Jan 2012 03:19:51
hi eds i no summer is a long way off but do u think there is a chance gago could be leavin madrid then? if so does liverpool have a chance or would u expect him to sign for roma knowing they have 1st offers {Ed001's Note - I think there is every chance he will leave on a permanent deal then, though it will depend on the manager in place then. I don't think we are likely to enter the running though, his wage demands are above our levels.}

23 Jan 2012 02:48:39
Eds, is it possible we sign David Teixera this jan transfer for 10m, plus Fc groningen can sign Dirk Kuyt in the summer for cheap price. Possible? Hope this will come true.

Why not sign Nathan Dyer for right winger or Krasic on loan also OK. Both got good pace.

Dtg'lfc {Ed001's Note - it is possible, the sticking point would be if Kuyt wanted to go to Groningen.}

Have read some reports (twitter admitedly) that there were meetings between Texeira and LFC reps yesterday after the Groningen game.

Kuyt will never go to Groningen

Kuyt would not want to go to Groningen. Dirk is from the West Coast Katwijk aan See, and Groningen is up North. It's like Steven Gerrard being asked to move to Somerset to play for the tractor boys. Besides, Dirk wouldn't be able to command the same salary at Groningen. So if Dirk does move, he will more than likely be looking to an Italian club who believe players are like good red wine. They get better with age. So for me, Dirk might move to a Parma, or Inter but he isn't really good enough for Inter or AC Milan. Juve wouldn't want him for me, and I think a smaller Italian club might want him but not pay too much for him.
Difficult one Dirk. Not quite good enough for the Italian top brass. Too expensive for the smaller clubs. But Groningen, deffo not.

He might on the other hand want to go back to Feyenoord. BUT, they couldn't afford a field mouse, so that ain't happening this side of 35.

Maybe he could go to for example Fulham.

23 Jan 2012 02:48:21
Esteban Granero in talks with liverpool. 100 percent true will sign next week sometime kenny wants him as adam isnt up to much.

Born 2 b a Red!

Pls be true!

False

Thank goodness adam is not good enough to play 4 lfc

I am pretty confident this rumour is false. Jose Mourinho is giving him more game time. This is evident by his start against Athletico Bilbao last night, which finished 4-1 to Real.

RuncornRed {Ed002's Note - Although surplus to long-term requirements in Madrid he may still be needed to provide cover through to the summer.}

I like the player and I hope we get him. BUT for a number of our games Adam has been our best player....

What games were these? Adam has had a few decent games but I don't recall him ever being our best player and his form has got worse, not better.

Adam had his last 'decent' game in October. He is the worst player on our team, every pass is stray, every run is clumsy and slow, and every tackle is an unnecessary foul. Atrocious.

23 Jan 2012 01:17:44
Owners arriving tomorrow apparently.

Well I hope They bring their cheque book with them!

For the Semi Final match vs Manchester City I'd assume?

Lets hope they slap some wrists

Why should they. They have already sanctioned £100m of player sales in a year !!!

Hopefully to give Dalglish a rollicking

Sanction yes. Invested no.

Andy Carroll, Luis Suarez, Doni, Charlie Adam, Jose Enrique, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Coates

Total Gross fee: £112m

Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel, Jovanovic, Alberto Aquilani, Paul Konchesky, David Ngog, Nabil El Zahr, Danny Pacheco, Ayala, Philip Degen, Joe Cole, Christian Poulsen, Brad Jones

Total estimated gross fees recouped : £72m

Net spend £40m

Annual cost of new player wages = £23m
Estimated annual wage savings from selling players : £32m

Net wage saving £9m per annum.

Over 5 years (typical contract length) gives at total of £45m savings.

So, in fact, FSG haven't actually made ANY investment into the club that won't be recouped by the savings that they have made on players wages...

{Ed002's Note - This is complete nonsense posted I assume to discredit the owners. You have conveniently forgotten the costs of removing Degen, El Zhar and the like, the £6M being contributed to the wages of Poulsen and Cole this year. The payments made on Aquilani by the new owers, the investment that is being made on a day-by-day basis to run the club, the cost of replacing Roy Hodgson and his team, the cost of replacing the medical team .... and I could go on. So what we have seen is hate spewed out about pretty much every player over the past year or so - including the likes of Lucas and Reina. A concerted effort against the managers - three in two years so far. Now the owners are on the list. Absolutely hopeless.}

Ed002. My comment was aimed at the previous post that questioned why they should open the cheque book when they have sanctioned £100m of sales.

The point I was making was that the owners have not made any investment of their money into the improving the squad. Apologies if that's been misunderstood as them not making an investment into the club. I appreciate that there have been various cost to rectify the mistakes of previous owners who were not interested in an LFC successful on the pitch.

I think that Henry and Co are doing a great job in sorting out the club. I was just making the point that they haven't invested in improving the squad with their own money, and to be honest, I'd rather that they were able to run the club in a way where it could be self sufficient AND successful. {Ed002's Note - Ok. Perhaps I was misled by yopur words "FSG haven't actually made ANY investment into the club". But perhaps between us we have gotten the poit across to those who cannot see beyond transfers.}

My best source (the one at the club) told me once that before FSG came in to rescue the club, the feeling in the air was that at any minute she would get fired and her co-workers as well). There was a feeling of disorder and I'm ashamed to say this, but yes - despair. I don't think that people fully realize how close the club came to going into administration.
It's a bloody miracle that we still exist, yet alone having money given to us to develop the club and take it forward. I bet some fans, if given the opportunity, would elect to blow off all the money we have at once, on big wage, big ego players. So I'm grateful that we have people who know what they're doing leading this club that I love so much.
-=Solar=-

Hopefully John Henry brings his wife

Keep your eyes on the football,up there!

Hi Ed,

Was just wondering whether we have any interest in Nathaniel Clyne or is he a done deal to United? He is young, British and personally believe he would be an adequate back up to Kelly if we move G.Johnson on.

Thanks

Jatt YNWA {Ed001's Note - we have looked at him, for a few years now, but never made any bid for him. I really doubt we would move for him now, not now Palace are not in such dire financial straits.}

He is out of contract this year though if my memory serves me. Might be a good signing if Johnson is on his way out.

Anfield Rapstar {Ed001's Note - you are right it does, I hadn't realised that. The problem might be that he has let it run down to get the maximum amount of money for himself possible. If he is going for the highest bidder, that won't be us.}

We don't need him, even if Johnson is sold - We have Kelly and Flanagan.

23 Jan 2012 00:56:56
Oh, actually, looks like that's a rumour from a fake twitter source. Cancel that last one!

-Shane.

23 Jan 2012 00:54:50
Bad start to the week. According to The Times, we're about to pay £12million for Defoe. A player past his peak and only about 2 years of legs left in him...I thought Commolli was supposed to spot future stars?

-Shane.

Reguardless if Dafoe comes Commolli is to bring is talent and fill holes needed. If a short term fix is Dafoe and does his job, price wise it doesn't matter.

If this is true,its all about rescuing something from this crappy season,i say get him in,if he fires us into the champions league,it will be a brilliant bit of buisness !!

Agreed with both responders. doubt we'll get him but he is just what we need. out and out striker

23 Jan 2012 00:09:32
Farfan, Hoilett and Drenthe are all out of contract in the summer, just what we need?

Definetly farfan and probably hoilet but drenthe looks happy at everton and will probably be bought by them

22 Jan 2012 23:48:24
eds do you think there is any chance ever banega could be tempted to join liverpool? would be a great signin {Ed001's Note - we did consider him in the past, but he was unable to get a work permit for the UK at the time. I am not sure if he would be able to get one now, does anyone know if he has a Spanish passport? If not, he probably won't get a work permit for the UK, due to the fact I don't think he has enough international appearances.}

Im not sure if im right but i think everton were linked with banega before and were granted a work permit so maybe worth a look in {Ed001's Note - they agreed a deal, but the work permit application was rejected.}

Hasn't he recently signed a new contract with valencia? {Ed001's Note - I am not sure, he did force his way into the team last I saw, but he seems to be in and out of the first team all the time.}

Either way think we all agree would be a fantastic signing if could pull it off

22 Jan 2012 23:37:57
Hey eds, I have recently seen a great young player called Chanturia. He is a winger and is VERY pacy & skillful. Still only 17/18 I think. Would he be out of the equation for a transfer to us?

Cheers. {Ed001's Note - the ex-Barca youth lad? Plays in Holland now? I don't know, heard him touted as a future star for Georgia (I think), but that's all. No idea whether we have any interest.}

Yeah, thats the one. He looks like he could turn world class. I think he would honestly be a super signing, but I guess its unlikely.
