Kolo Toure signing on July 1st

Agree0 Disagree0

Really excited if the Toure deal goes through seems Rodgers is getting his targets in early well done thumbs up. RED RUSS

My sources out of Boston are saying Begovic is only trying to spark interest with his quotes and BR still sees Vorm as his first choice shot stopper to bring in.

Believable45 Unbelievable63

Don't want another Swansea ex

Agree0 Disagree0

Rubbish, begovic won't get in chelsea, united, city's or spurs team

only us and Arsenal are worth leaving for in the PL and arsenal won't pay big money on a goalkeeper

we will if Reina leaves

Agree0 Disagree0

The same Vorm who wasn't a regular for Swansea this season? {Ed052's Note - He was injured a lot}

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2013 21:18:38
Begovic over Vorm. We need a keeper who can dive and save. Not someone who dives and gets injured. Need a keeper made of stone not glass ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2013 22:15:09
I reckon you have been reading Maccas page.

Agree0 Disagree0

I love the suggestion that sources in Boston are particularly clued up on LFC's transfer dealings. ''oh, no they don't work for FSG or anything, it's my cousin, he just lives in Boston and that's what he read on twitter''?

Agree0 Disagree0

Just passing on information m8. Next time I'll just sit on it. or maybe I'll see if my brothers sister in laws husbands dog has some real rubbish to post like some of these muppets.

RW&hiscat
Can't login but same OP

Agree0 Disagree0

We won't sign vorm he's 30 and will cost only a little less than begovic, we all know we'll go for the younger option and thankfully the better option in begovic

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 07:13:03
Anyone denying Vorm's ability needs their head checking. This is the same Vorm that interested Man United when Van Der Sar was retiring and Arsenal when they had keeper problems. He may be 'another swansea ex' as one of you puts, but he is a top quality keeper.
He didn't play much this season through injury. I for one would welcome his signing but would prefer the much younger Krul from Newcastle.

"My sources out of Boston"? Love it. No doubt you think this adds credibility? I think you just recycle other news, such as Vorm, you are just repeating what Macca said.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Vorm's a good keeper, but Begovic is miles better, a lot less injury prone and 5 years younger

Agree0 Disagree0

How is it you know John Henry again. Or is this off the same website that reported we signed Clint Dempsey!

The problem with a lot of posters is that everyone seems to want to be the MAN who posted 1ST it would seem. I'm not sure why as there is no real reward for being the 1ST to post a correct rumour, however this is where we are at.

This site is for more interesting reading than gaining factual information off Mattys dog/cat/uncle Tommy!

FACT

Iago Aspas has followed Liverpool Espanol on twitter

Twitter account verified

Iago Aspas is available for 7m euros (release clause dropped from 10m euros as a result of Celta getting relegated).

Believable34 Unbelievable41

The official Lovren profile followed the official Liverpool account, how did that turn out?

seems to be a new technique by players to cause a stir

Agree0 Disagree0

Dejan lovern has been following LFC twitter for weeks now, doesn't mean they are moving to LFC

Agree0 Disagree0

Lovren also followed LFC on twitter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Joey Barton follows Liverpool and Gerrard Pique follows Real Madrid. Neither of those are likely transfers

Agree0 Disagree0

7 mil seems a bit too steep for this guy, doesn't it? we have borini? why do we need this guy as well? I'd much rather pay a few extra for Tello. if it's possible.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2013 16:01:58
is there any truth in the Iniago Aspas rumour that is on the Liverpool site and if so is he any good thanks

Believable27 Unbelievable40

He looks really really exciting

Agree0 Disagree0

If I was to compare Aspas to any player I would say he is like a Luis Garcia type, good skill, good shot not very strong on the ball though, if Liverpool are interested I would not know.

intitiwetrust

Agree0 Disagree0

Read a few player profiles of the lad and he sounds a good buy for 7 mill. Plays across front 3, left footer, False no. 9. all in sounds perfect BR player.

Do people think borini will stay?

Daniellambretta

Agree0 Disagree0

Good but not amazing. Sounds like we're looking at him and 7m would be good value, but not better than we have in starting XI at the mo. Back up for front 3 of Suarez, Coutinho and Sturridge along with Sterling Borini and Suso. Carroll, Downing, Assaidi and Pacheco off.

Agree0 Disagree0

Replacing Suarez.

Agree0 Disagree0

Replacing Suarez? rubbish. Have you been reading the mirror?

Agree0 Disagree0

It was proved this season sterling and suso are not ready for the step up to the prem yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Brendan is stealing swansea transfer targets. Had it in for them after the price Liverpool paid for joe allen.

Believable76 Unbelievable60

23 May 2013 16:43:49
Hold your horses for a mo. Ron Robert Zieler's name is being heavily mentioned now. Hope it all gets sorted soon before ANOTHER name pops up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Begovic seems to think it is a done deal - I have just watched the interview.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can we have a link to this interview?

Thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

What interview?

Agree0 Disagree0

Where is the interview?

Agree0 Disagree0

To the second reply:

What interview are you referring to? I can't find it, or were you trying to be funny?

Agree0 Disagree0

What Interview? The one that the 2nd poster referred to claiming that it was a done deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

It isn't done.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd rather have Begovic than RRZ anytime. would prefer to swap Pepe for Joe Hart if he's going to go though.

Agree0 Disagree0

He told the Bosnian media: “I want to start preparing on July 10, with all the players of Liverpool”, as quoted by The Telegraph.

Agree0 Disagree0

Easily could have been something taken out of context. Over-eager media, "stretching" truths, happens all the time.

I have been told that Cardiff are after an LFC player on loan, no idea who yet.

Believable34 Unbelievable12

Maybe Spearing or Flanagan

Agree0 Disagree0

Most probably.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully Suso!

Im thinking shelvey.

It's sterling

Agree0 Disagree0

You took this off twitter :P

The real AG

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez

Agree0 Disagree0

Think they enquired about sterling in Jan so possibly him

Agree0 Disagree0

Should give them one of Wisdom, Flanagan or Robinson on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cardiff are looking at 5-6 options for loan players but Wisdom is the one from Liverpool they have interest in.

might we have possible connection with a companionship club where we can loan out players like Teixeira, Adorjan, Sama?

Morning is it true we are trying to bring in aspas from celta vigo he has been the bright spark in a forgettable season for them cheers and could u shed any info on any investment into our club JON96 great site **** the begrudges {Ed001's Note - there does seem a genuine interest, Southampton believe we are trying to jump in ahead of them, ala Coutinho.}

Believable10 Unbelievable9

This aspas guy is a striker isn't he? if we do go for him would that mean suarez will be playing wide?

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesn't mean Suarez will play wide it probably means we will have more options from the bench and more depth of the squad. Liverpool need 4 strikers / forwards as to keep people fresh on their toes

Agree0 Disagree0

Am so please to see my view being post on this site thanks ed. Pls I have another question for you ed 1. Why is andy stallin A̶̲̥̅ move to whu? 2. what the chance of lfc geting another striker with the ones we have? 3. How many player is br looking to bring in d summer? 4. What the chance of pepe going? What position are we looking for? {Ed001's Note - 1. He is not. 2. It is likely that another forward will come in, though more of a wide forward than an out and out striker. 3. Don't know. 4. The chances are that Reina will leave, but it is by no means certain, he ended up unable to complete a deal to Arsenal a few years back, when it looked likely he would go.}

Looks like the Kolo Toure deal is done!

dmedly

Believable37 Unbelievable36

As I posted yesterday I think it is a bit of good business from Rodgers as we have lost a very very experienced defender in Carra, Toure will step into his shoes, has the experience we need, can do the job, will probably be happy to be back up and is still 32 so will have 3 or 4 years still to give.

Current Central Defenders we have:

Carra --- Agger
Skrtel --- Coates
Kelly --- Wisdom

Potential New Central Defenders:

Papa --- Agger
Kelly --- Toure
Wisdom --- Ilori

Agree0 Disagree0

It's done. Che47

Agree0 Disagree0

That's great! Did he come back from the pre-season tour early?

Agree0 Disagree0

Jamie's gone

Agree0 Disagree0

What website is this on? cheers

ben

Agree0 Disagree0

I really hope that this is a wind-up. At 32 he'll not want to sit on a bench and he's no longer good enough to be 1st choice. There are other experienced, younger centre backs who could do the same job.

Better still why not give Martin Kelly an opportunity. if he played for another team we'd all be shouting about how good he is and how we should sign him.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2013 22:13:01
@BigD - This season Coates was 4th choice and he got almost no game time at all at all. Why would Ilori sign to be 5th or 6th choice then?

I'd love Papadopolous to come in and if we get Toure we get Toure but if both come then I wouldn't be surprised if that leaves the door open for Agger to leave as well as Skrtel.

I'd agree with your above potential new CBs except I'd be plenty happy if 6th choice was Sama. Replacing Carra & Skrtel with Toure & Papa would be strengthening we wouldn't need to buy someone else too.

Agree0 Disagree0

I really really wouldn't be surprised to see Agger leave as well if the right offer came in.

Reading this morning that Vermaelen is available for 5milliom pounds.
This is a bargain if right, ball playing centre half offering left back cover too. Alongside agger at the back.
Any interest from LFC.
Cheers

Believable26 Unbelievable34

Idk he was awful for arsenal this year and we don't need another left footed ball playing center half. I'd rather get a physical tank like the Greek lad papadopolous or Roma's marquinho.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sadly, not a particularly good defender.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you watch Arsenal this season? The lad is a fine footballer just not a defender.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sod that. Overrated to hell

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2013 05:32:20
Eds, Thanks for all the recent and late- ! Seems to be a lot of speculation surrounding a bid for Papadopolous lately, but it seems a strange one. Certainly the most exciting CB linked to date, but his knee. After the Aquilani debacle, this ownership will be wary of spending 20 mil on a seriously injured player. What do we know about the extent of his latest injury? Thanks again! {Ed001's Note - we don't know for sure, injury news is reliant on the club to release it, so all we have is the club's word. We know he had a knee op in November and it is not his first knee problem. How serious it is, as in terms of his recovery, is difficult to ascertain, but it seems unlikely anyone will risk over £15m on a player with such problems.}

Believable9 Unbelievable4

United signed Phil Jones upon two knee problems if my mind serves me well? He's not my cup of tea but a lot of United fans seem to like him and from what I have seen they are quite similar players. I for one would take a gamble Coutinho had injury problems before coming and he's been great, Aquilani not so much.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't worry.
We tend to run very thorough medicals here.

Agree0 Disagree0

The injury is apparently a meniscus injury, not a ligament one, making it less of a problem. In fact, he may have already healed by now but Schalke decided not to rush him back. I'd assume the club will do a thorough medical

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought this was his first knee injury Ed? This is the first I've heard of any previous knee injuries. When did the happen and how serious were they? {Ed019's Note - He had a serious ankle injury before which lead to both his knee injury and an abductor injury in the past}

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers Ed. I'm guessing the ankle injury caused him to overcompensate in his stride, or something like that, which caused the hip and knee injury? {Ed001's Note - that is what I am told. Having suffered shin splints and ankle problems due to changing my stride following knee issues, I can see the logic behind it. They will only know for sure with a very extensive medical, I am told, but that is the belief and why people are baulking at the price being quoted. It makes him a risk, especially as the knee injury could cause further complications or complications of its own.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hm, you're making a little worried Ed. I know Schalke aren't in great financial shape right now, but it kind of makes me wonder why they would let one of the best young CBs go for £16 million. Do they think it's going to something that's going to plaque him for the rest of his career?

Surely the overcompensation in his stride can fixed though right? I've heard that the knee injury is just cartilage damage too, so it may not be too big of an issue.

Here I was thinking it'd be a major coup if we got him, but now you've got me worried Ed. {Ed001's Note - they are selling him because they have other options brought in and they need to sell to raise cash. They are not about to fold, but they do have significant debts that need to be serviced. They have brought in some cheap defenders to allow them to sell on a star for a big price.
As for the injury, it is impossible to tell without an extensive medical being done, which is something we do a lot of now. Sometimes issues can be corrected, sometimes they will just cause the player to suffer from minor niggles for the rest of his career, but there is also a chance that the injuries will just become a problem. I do have faith in our medical staff nowadays, they have worked wonders with Agger and Gerrard this season, to allow them to play as many games as they did.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ya I know they have Matip as his replacement, who's been really impressive during the 2nd half of this season, and just bought Santana, for something like €1 million if I remember correctly. It makes sense for them to sell considering the situation they're in, but I guess the doubt just creeps into my mind whenever it seems like something positive is happening for us. Too many false dawns I guess.

True, we do seem to finally have a competent medical staff and if he does come, hopefully they can sort him out as well. Also you can't leave Johnson off that list. He's played in 36 games this year, a massive achievement for him, even if he was pretty s*** for the last 10 games.

Aaaagghhh, why do I always let the transfer windows get to me like this! I'm losing my mind and it hasn't even started yet!

Anyways thanks for answering so quickly and listening to me ramble Ed001.

Cheers!

hi eds
do u think Liverpool will have anyone signed by the time the team meets up for pre season? june 10th has been mentioned? {Ed001's Note - not a clue sorry, certainly the plan is to have the business done, but negotiations take time.}

Believable11 Unbelievable1

July 10th certainly not June 10th anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely the transfer window doesn't open until 1st July {Ed023's Note - International window is July 1st. The window for clubs in the same football association is roughly June}

Rather him than splashing €20M on a crocked player. We need Coates playing like he did in s. america cup. Somethings gone wrong since he's joined us. It's a shame.

Agree0 Disagree0

Selling the club captain for 5m?

Agree0 Disagree0

Vermaleen is not a good player, they recently showed some stats of when he played, with both cb pairings.

Arsenal were a lot better off without him!

His positioning is not great and he is mistake prone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal need a defensive clearout desperately. Vermaeleen has been terrible but will cost more than 5 million, cazorla is a stronger captain and has more influence. I'd expect 3 new defenders at arsenal and a GK.

Gazz, that's what happens when you don't get competetive game time

First time poster here, love the site Eds find myself checking maybe 3/4 times a day.

Don't know how this will go down, or if the Eds know anything about it, but what's the situation with young Pacheco? Showed so much promise a few years ago and would be a shame to let someone go with the raw talent he does obviously have (being trained at Barca and everything) Will he get a chance in pre-season or does Rodgers have plans for him to leave already? Thanks Eds keep up the quality work!

T. {Ed002's Note - He will likely move on.}

I also saw somewhere that along with Sergi Canos we had signed two other players from Barca's academy but they weren't named, any truth in this?
