Are we interested in Dzeko? he fits the criteria
and it's reported that City are interested in Sterling, no chance of a swap?

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - Dzeko may well be leaving with firm interest from Juventus - but interest from Valencia and just perhaps Inter remains tentative - Fenerbahce may provide a solution for Dzeko.}

24 May 2015 08:59:06
I'd rather we went for Mitrovic, he's more mobile and considerably younger. Dzeko is nearly 30.

Hi Eds, where is Marco Reus likely to end up this summer? Am guessing he won't be at Dortmund next season. Thanks.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The Reus situation is that Borussia Dortmund offered a significant cash sum to the player to sign a one year extension to remove the release clause that German clubs could use to force a deal for the summer. Manchester United's interest has moved on. Chelsea stepped back from any deal after discussions when an issue became clear - if that goes away then it is possible something could still be done, but I very, very much doubt it. Bayern is no longer pushing for him. Real Madrid would like a deal but need to move others on first - which it looks like they will try. Barcelona may look to striking a deal for January 2016 as a replacement for Pedro - but Reus has made it clear that he feels let down by them last summer. Arsenal will be interested if he is available but my expectation is he will remain at Dortmund next season.}

Ed 002, I noticed you mentioned Hernanes as someone you saw as a good addition should Liverpool be interested. If we are say, looking for a goalkeeper, central midfielder and a top striker, is there any other players in those positions you think would suit us?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Of the available goalkeepers Handanovic would be the best option but he would want to be first choice, and I don't think that is what Liverpool are looking for. Morgan Sanson would be a great addition to the midfield. I believe Mitrovic would be a good addition as a striker, but I understand that someone representing Liverpool has approached Mandzukic's agent, but as of this time, not his club.

23 May 2015 18:47:14
Would be happy if we got Mandzukic, much better version of Lambert, done half decent while being on a constant pressing game at Atletico and scored plenty for Bayern Munich

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2015 19:35:43
Do you believe Mignolet is good enough to be first choice?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool cannot keep changing all of the players.}

23 May 2015 19:45:40
Don't know much about Morgan Sanson? Anyone got any info? I think the ones mentioned by Ed are achievable and would improve our starting 11. I know you don't like talking money Ed(for good reason!), but what sort of money would inter want for Hernanes?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really am not going to get in to money.}

23 May 2015 20:42:48
Are Atletico looking to sell Mandzukic Ed do you no mate? Would he fit into our system in your opinion?

{Ed002's Note - RTFP.}

Thanks Ed, I appreciate the reply.

Liverpool and Arsenal have both been linked with Vidal, any chance he will be moving this year eds?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Regardless of what Juventus say about wanting Vidal to stay, there is every chance he will leave Juve this summer and they have a bunch of midfield targets - the restless Mkhitaryan being one. I am not aware of Liverpool interest and there is certainly no deal with Arsenal.}

23 May 2015 17:18:31
Wouldn't Vidal be out our range financially? I've read reports earlier in the year were saying 60 million.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 May 2015 00:27:35
could we afford vidal?
plus with pogba leaving and possibly pirlo that would be 3 out of their 4 main midfielders gone in one window.

Emm the real question would be why would anyone champions league finalist and Italian champion want to move to a club in a mess with no CL and no trophys??

Morning Ed's.

I know back in January and more recently you mentioned Luke Garbutt is expected to sign a new deal.

A friend is mine who is quite close to EFC and gets to go to Finch Farm occasionally, has said that LG is open to a move to Liverpool and is not looking to sign a new deal.

If this is true, do you think EFC would do business with us, especially as LG is highly rated at Goodison.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I never said he was expected to sign a new deal, I said he was expected not to sign and to assess his options at the end of the season. He is still doing that but is now pretty much set on leaving and we are major possibilities. Irrelevant whether Everton will do business with us as he is out of contract and it is just compensation to be sorted.}

23 May 2015 09:14:38
Is Garbutt a LFC fan?

Thanks fo the reply Ed 1.

I didn't single you out as I said "Ed's" for both yourself and Ed 2 😜

Ed 2 mentioned back on the 12th March that he suspected
LG would sign a new deal so after conversation with my friend yesterday thought I'd ask the question.

Cheers again for the reply

{Ed001's Note - it is Luke's personal choice, so no one knew for sure, even he was undecided.}

Have been told that Swansea have made a great financial offer for garbutt

Conversation with an ex red today, before i begin it's an opinion and he didn't give inside information as he doesn't know in all honesty.

He's of the opinion Walcott has wanted a central role for a long time and could make the perfect striker for LFC, fast, technically gifted more rounded than sterling at this stage and probably able to play alongside Sturridge.

If Rodgers stays and looks to continue with 3 at the back another CB could be looked at as he's not convinced by Lovren.

Typical Rodgers,spends 20 mil on a defender he's not convinced with. Did the same with sakho albeit only 18mil.

Nobody is convinced by Rodgers he should be the one going.

23 May 2015 07:24:31
Not for me thanks.
Walcott would be decent out wide (if he can stay fit) but he's not good enough to play central for an entire season

Agree1 Disagree0

23 May 2015 07:47:24
use sinclair, really. save the money and buy a better striker. walcott is just as injury prone as sturridge is, this does not make any sense.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 May 2015 08:40:53
Walcott is awful. 25 games or so in the last 2 years? Poor record, if we sign him then someone needs sacking.

Agree1 Disagree1

23 May 2015 08:46:30
I would take personally take Walcott + 20-30mln for Sterling provided
1) we also get Ings to be no.2/3 striker and
2) there's not a top class striker like Vietto/Higuan or similar available in this window

Best case he proves himself in a Sturridge/Walcott frontline with Ings/Origi as backup strikers. would frighten the heck out of me with Coutinho/Llalana positioned just behind them to fee their runs! Worst case is Walcott reverts to being a wide forward and we have 20mln to spend when a genuinely world class no.9 does become available

Better than spending 20-30mln on an average striker in this window if nothing else is out there. I think we've seen from Balo, Lambert and Borini what buying a second tier striker does for the team

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2015 09:49:06
Great. £20m wasted. Try Lloyd Jones or Ilori and use money elsewhere. We need a top striker, no more average make do players please.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2015 12:47:00
So that's another 25m then, for another CB. Incompetence!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2015 13:49:57
Sounds like another summer of shocking transfer business
60 million on defenders in two years and still wants another
If he's not convinced by Lovren why buy him it's his coaching that's caused his form.
AW won't play Walcot up top because he's not Good enough to play there. enter Brenda Rodgers

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2015 14:14:52
He's making approaches for Martinez of sociedad, it's pretty well documented. Decent enough player although as previously mentioned illori and Jones deserve a crack.
In terms of striker it's mainly a case of who can we attract, personally for me its got to be son and vietto/dyabla. That's what you call striking fear in to the opposition

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2015 15:26:09
Those of you advocating for us signing Walcott, a few facts. He has missed nearly 75% of the last two years because of injury, he is turning 27 so that's not going to get better any time soon. He has never scored much more than 10 in even his best season and his end product is poor. Do you guys seriously think he would be a good signing in this light? Some of yous need your heads testing!

Agree2 Disagree0

24 May 2015 07:59:09
Walcott is about as 'technically gifted' as Jon Walters, the worst premier league player ever seen
