David Texeira and Xherdan Shaqiri to sign before the window closes.

Lets hope so,would love for us to get shaqiri,just what we need,a winger WITH an end product !! :)

Oh what a great window it would have been

24 Jan 2012 23:18:02
i know we have been linked with rodallega in the pas i just hopw we dont go in for him , he is just as bad as carrol and could turn out to be another heskey , good in the odd game for us

Watch him again. The only problem with Hugo is his hunger and that's cos he's at Wigan I reckon.

Hi edds any truth in the owners being over??If so is it got to do with the new stadium plans or is it to see some games..

Is there any truth in the Marko Marin rumours. {Ed002's Note - I understand the owners are in England but doubt it is anything sinister. Marin, no.}

Has anyone else noticed that every time the owners are over and watching the match, we seem to loose?!

Ed016 reply: They are obviously here for the semi-final. They want to see their team play! duh!

Yes they are over here, they were caught on camera at the ressies loss today, well werner anyway

24 Jan 2012 22:56:46
liverpool have looked at wilfred zhar at palace and i noticed he did not play last weekend.
allso palace have asked southampton about james punchen a right sided winger .
maybe one for january

Hmmm, he played tonight though.....

Didn't puncheon join qpr in the summer on deadline day ?

Hes a left sided winger, and i believe he is on loan at QPR.

If he didn't play at the weekend it would be so he would be fresh and uninjured for last night and their attempt to reach a Wembley final.

24 Jan 2012 22:48:46
We should snap up zaha. He has sooo much potential. He.is the kind of player that could one day be one of the best in the world. Very similar to c. Ronaldo at the same age and he cost united £12.5m. He is worth it in my eyes.
Jayo

He's pants.

Martin

If we do buy him i hope liverpool leaves him there on loan , it would be better than putting him in our reserves ,

We don't need another babel

Well said jayo saha is exactly what we need,runs around a lot,dosent mind the ball well and has no end product.like ronaldo at that age my arse

He is great with his feet and is energetic but the few times i f have seen him play on tele he doesn't haev the quality in the final thrid that Liverpool are after.

Scott {Ed016's Note - I have heard the same from a few people, fast but end product isn't there}

We already have better in young Sterling.

Exactly as eds & scouts said!- watched the whole game, focused on zaha, he runs, he's got a bit of trickery- pretty clumsy, loses the ball often, has a good spell for a brief moment, decent young kid but there's is no end product.. He lacks a wingers job (crossing) often tried to do too much.. may have been a bad game for him or fatigue but he's been rested for a week for this from what i understand & i totally agree no end product- but potential i guess i agree on that

@ Ed016 - "that's what she said".

Zaha ain't good enough for us and to even allude to him being like C.Ronaldo is incredibly far-fetched. I hope we don't make a move for him.

SMc

Zaha is young, got pace,skill and is a workaholic reminds more of a young craig bellamy. And he played more as a left sided midfielder last night and played well for a young lad playing away from home in a semi-final.
kidmillions

C.Ronaldo was offered to Pool for 4m and houllier said he costed to much...

Zaha is a championship player, watched him live a few times and he's no where near a Liverpool player and never will be!

Houllier rejected ronaldo for 4m? U making this up buddy?
Jorje

I thought Phil Thompson ran the rule over C. Ronaldo and reported back to Houllier that he was too lightweight and lacked the final ball?

Personal Opinion on Zaha is he looks like a promising prospect, whether he turns out to be good enough to play for a big team in the Prem we will have to wait and see. But to say he won't ever be good enough is very silly, he is still very young and has a lot to learn. I would say he looks a lot like Ashley Young did at that age playing for Watford, and he hasn't turned out too badly has he?

Scarface

Very average player IMO. He will never be another Cristiano Ronaldo I'm afraid. We have a much better talent playing at the academy called Raheem Sterling. I suggest you Google him.

Very limited one trick pony. Reminds me of Djibs - runs straight at the player and tries a step over. If the player doesn't move, he runs straight in to him! No game intelligence and would come with a premium price tag as he is 'British talent' (term used lightly).

If we only sign a striker that will do for me. Apart from the obvious need to convert our chances I think Andy is carrying the the world on his young shoulders at the minute, that and the weight of 35 million plus the expectations that come with it. If someone comes in and does a good job Andy will hopefully feel less pressure and things will fall into place. He DID do it for Newcastle last yea,r so he is capable.

I hope for a RM/winger too and we can get Downing back on the left where he should always be IMO.

I just think andy carrol is a newcastle type of player , not a liverpool type of player , he cant make the next step up to our level , its that simple , the same goes for downing and adam ,

Poor andy carrol with all them problems , maybe its how to spen all his money thats the problem

I completely agree with this post! everyone seems to blame andy that the club overspent on him! hes a great young player and IF our wingers started delivering the right balls into him we could start seeing the potential grow, at newcastly he always had deliveries into the back post so he could run and power his headers home... were as here we just put it in the middle and expect him to do everything

Poor Andy, let's wrap him in cotton wool.All the pressure he's under, it's playing havoc with his social life.

Why doesn't Andy Carroll just get out there on the pitch and work his socks off to prove all the doubters wrong and I'm not talking about scoring goals they'll come if you just work hard. Your own personal pride would make you want to get out and do it to ram the critisism down their throats just like Lucas has done. But he steps on the pitch and just ambles through the game? WTF are we going to do if it carries on like this.
If he gets out there and is wringing with sweat and putting himself about and giving 100% endeavour then I will support him goals or no goals. I think as supporters it's the very least we can expect.

Gerrard 2 man/man Silva tomorrow,
and to show him who's owns midfield
in the premiere league.

Presume u mean man mark....and tomor is lge cup looooooooool

Except its the carling cup you clown bedtime id say.
DCG

I'd prefer to have Gerrard free in their half of the pitch to do some real damage to them!

Not exactly a ridiculous comment considering they both play for clubs in the premier league though?
give the lad a break

x

Yeah he's just saying the best midfielder in premier league nonetheless its the carling cup! Good shout mate

How can anyone disagree?... :/

Gibzkit

Gerrard vs. Silva will be man vs. boy

@Gibzkit, lol it must be city fans.
I think if we play Gerrard in a free role off Carroll we'll just end up playing him in city's hands. He should play further back like he did in the first leg, they couldn't touch him.

TheBA300

Do you mean you think he should man mark Silva? Or were you sitting in on Kenny's pre-match tactics talk mate?

Surely by 'man marking' a player, you are stating how good they are!

24 Jan 2012 22:15:18
Eds: do u guys reckon we will spend big on deadline day like last year? Qwertybob {Ed002's Note - I am not so sure that is going to happen this year.}

May do, but that would probably mean Luis has gone to Real at the last minute! ;-(
5uarezTimes

We didn't "spend big". We sold Torres for Ł50 mil.

Kebabthief

We actually spent very little last january because of the money from torres, and no i dont expect us to do alot but i do expect and hope we sign 2 or 3 squad players to strengthen the depth

24 Jan 2012 22:14:49
I understand that - Marko Marin rumours false - the SkysportsAndy account on twitter is fake.

So, don't believe in this rumour. It's bulls**t :)

@nbstw

24 Jan 2012 22:14:05
Andysky sports news account is fake i believe becuase cannot find it . Link any1

24 Jan 2012 22:13:44
Ed's, is Sturridge available?

BillzWheelz {Ed002's Note - No.}

24 jan 2012 22:10:34
hi ed's
this player we are linked with,david texeira, what are his main attrebutes? would he be good for our pass and move football, currently we are playing with kenny?
thanks:ansar ali {Ed002's Note - I am sure some other folks will tell you about him Ansar.}

Hes a south american player , they are brought up with the pass and move game , do you ever see a south american not doing this , i have not and this lad gets into space in the box thats why he scores

Ali mate from what I have seen granted on YouTube he seems to be strong with a decent turn of pace, could be a very good player seems to be up to the physical side. Oh yeah hopefully he can find the back of the net. As I said that's what I took from YouTube not claiming to be the next DC lol... open to criticism on that btw

Quigz23

What pass and move game? Is that Downing pinging in another cross at Carroll headed away by Kompany/Hangeland/Samba.

If you want pass and move you'll have to move those two out of the team.

Through the Storm

24 Jan 2012 22:10:31
Calm down everyone, @skysportsandy who is breaking the Marko Marin news is a fake! He doesn't have anything to do with sky sports.
Twitter is about as reliable as Wikki.
Let's all just wait and see what happens.

Ahh man just told about 6 people!

Square tomato

24 Jan 2012 22:09:26
We should really be trying to get zaha he is amazing takes players on for fun tortured Man Utd just the player we need to run down the wing or just behind Suarez any interest

KopKid

No end product, poor mans Sterling.

5times*****

I was impressed with his performance today for a kid that has just turned 19, played 70 odd games for palace - he has got pace, just eases past defenders, happy to run up and down the wing even tracking back for 120mins,

If the only criticism is his end product playing with very average players - then I still think he is a player with potential
Even ronaldo at that age did not look good With the one trick pony tag

With the right coaching and strength building - zaha will be on to watch in a few years

As I have mentioned in other posts - we need to expose our quality youngsters to more 1st team football at lfc or at other clubs

Zaha even with his faults has a price tag of Ł10m+ something none of the 18/19 yr old can claim because the lack of exposure

24 Jan 2012 22:08:40
@skysportsandy is a fake profile, there will be no marin, get real people, best we can hope for is texeira, texeira and maybe a right winger if were lucky.

24 Jan 2012 21:21:47
Is it true carrol going back nufc for 20m any one know any thing.

Hope so! Can't see it though

With a bit of luck...transfer fee would be closer to 7-10m though not 20m!

It would be like winning the Euro millions after you were convinced your ticket was lost !

24 Jan 2012 21:21:46
A person who works in the transfer centre at sky sports news has just said @SkySportsAndy: Sky Sources understand that #LFC have made contact with Werder Bremen about a possible deal to bring Germany U21 winger Marko Marin to them.ť any thoughts eds or macca? {Ed002's Note - AC Milan, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Napoli, Juventus and Roma have all shown an interest in Marko Marin in the past and I hear that Arsenal are interested at the moment. Much will depend on whether or not Liverpool make the Champions League as to whether he is a viable option or not; and the summer is a considerable distance away at present. Perhaps Italy is the most likely destination, and I understand his preferred destination.}

24 Jan 2012 21:17:27
not a rumor but, we do not need a CDM for lucas, when spearing is back he does fine. no wheres near as good as lucas but he does work his but off. but now that spearing is out who do we put in CDM? well pesrsonally i know that agger and skrtl are gelling really well but what if for a few easy games we tried agger in the CDM position as he attacks as well and coates or carra in CB. i guarantee you would all stop complaing for a back up. then again im not manager.

i do believe D Tex will sign but thats through sole opinion. as he does show skill and and we have a ever growing south american squad so it would not be out of norm

No, we'd start complaining about the person who split up one of the strongest defensive partnerships in the league to put Agger into a position where he would be far less effective than his current position as a CB.

TSP

I think kelly could do a great job as a def-mid , he can tackle ,head and pass the ball i think he would be a good cover player untill lucas is back , you never know with this type of injury and how long it will take to mend

24 Jan 2012 21:17:23
Also i believe Spearing is out for about 3-4 weeks..

Cheers

Macca

Thanks for the info Macca..
Keep sharing if any updates, much appreciated!

Jay is ready to play if selected its up to the medical staff now.

24 Jan 2012 21:17:03
Ed, do you know if there is any real interest in Granero?
Thanks! {Ed002's Note - I have explained ad nauseum: Surplus to long-term requirements in Madrid but may be needed to provide cover through to the summer. Granero could interest any number of clubs and may be used as a makeweight in a transfer. Only solid interest at this time has been from Blackburn Rovers and Sevilla but unsubstantiated rumours have linked him to Liverpool and Espanyol as well.}

24 Jan 2012 21:15:49
Look i am not looking to state the obvious as people have mentioned..

The info i have been given is from one of the key members of the squad..

He has no idea who the player is, just that they will be signing a striker and no one else..

It could be the guy from Holland but i have no idea..

I may get to find out more on Saturday if he has not been signed already..

Cheers

Macca

Why are people saying he is wrong? Just because the lad from Inter never signed doesn't mean we weren't trying to sign him. He never said he was 100% definitely going to sign! He said if all goes well he should sign... obviously the deal broke down

Thanks Macca, you're a gent.

Thanks for the info Macca. Really appreciate you taking the time to update us. TomRed

Could even be the same player Macca already mentioned.

Please ignore the ungrateful idiots Macca. The great majority of readers know from experience you and your info can be trusted.
Thanks once again- and I do hope whoever we sign brings along his scoring boots for the second half of the season.

Well thats good news I guess but if its the young guy from Inter dont get too excited because he will probably not even start a game as he is youngster for the future....unless obviously they sign someone we all didnt see coming.

I reckon we all need to calm down with what we are trying to sign as last season was fluke and unless you are a small team really struggling you dont sign many players in this window. We all are getting worked up into a frenzy about signing somone when we should be getting worked up into a frenzy in supporting our boys. Show some support these next few games and things will look brighter for us fans. Yes we have been a laughing stock so far this season to opposition fans but we can ram it up their ar*ses if we win our next few games. But we cant win if we are divided....so forget all the hatred you have for Carrols and Adams and support them through these few games. If we dont get the results we need then your arguements have legs but untill then lets be the 12th man...Lets win it for the boys...
Speedy

Thanks macca...updates always appreciated

Sorry to ask questions, firstly cheers for the update on this and spearing, for me a big loss! But is this guy from holland or does he play in holland or both?
Cheers

The southern red

Don't let them badger you Macca. Just put your info out, you don't need to justify anything.

Ps. Nice one.

Macca im new to this site , and what i can gather is that your information is worth taking notice of , so i for one will believe you , if you say we will only be signing a striker this window then i will believe it , if people on here are calling you let them , you know the truth , they dont , let them get on with it , and thanks for taking time out to actually let us know the real rumours ,,,,,,mickb

Thanks Macca.
Don't bother about the idiots, keep posting updates. Most of the fans out here appreciate ur effort. {Ed016's Note - As always Macca the Ed's appreciate your info}

Always good to read your post mate, I can safely say we defo need a striker right now, thanks Macca from DanieRed

Give that man a Bells!

24 Jan 2012 21:14:54
we should get Clyne of place before utd nick him..
good young right back.

He looked very good tonight i wonder if he plays that good in evry game he plays {Ed016's Note - We do not need him, considering we have Kelly and Flanno...Someone said earlier Flanno would never make it at Liverpool but I strongly disagree, it is clear that Kelly is going to move to a central role and Robinson and Flanno will be our future wing backs}

Why get Clyne? we have Englans right back in Johnson and England U/21 regular in Kelly, not to mention Flannaghan. All three I think are better than him anyway with an Infinately better attitude!!!

24 Jan 2012 21:13:21
heard we have a deal for van wolfswinkel almost complete untill he suffered an injury so we have it on hold.. any truth? {Ed002's Note - See earlier replies.}

With a name like ricky van wolfswinkel he better be good.....

24 Jan 2012 22:01:37
the two Texeira's will sign before the end of the week (sunday) and for david the deal involves a lfc player going to his club on loan. As for other signings i have not heard anything although i will post as soon as something comes up.

SkySports sources understand that Liverpool made contact win Werden Bremen for Marko Marin.

Don't expect too much. If he will join us, it will be in summer, not now :)

Sky sports andy saying on twitter we have made contact with Bremen over Marko Marin his twitter isn't verified though ed can you shed some light on this please thanks -laylow {Ed001's Note - I don't really use Twitter, I haven't seen the twa er I mean tweet in question or the person who twa, tweeted it. I really can't comment on it as I have no knowledge of it. I know we have been looking in the Bundesliga, but I have never had Marin mentioned as a particular option.}

That twitter account is fake. Fooled us all... Raging. :( {Ed002's Note - What a shock.}

Nice 1 Ed001, cant you ban all twa tweets who use twa twitter :)

The only trasfer news on marko marin , was in december when he was linked with spurs , at he said then he was not going anywere mickyb

Miloš Krasić is set to be on his way to Anfield as Kenny Dalglish prepares to table a bid for the out-of-favour Serbian, if reports are to be believed.

The 27 year old winger has been out of favour at Juventus, having only featured once for the club since October and his agent has been touting him around to European clubs.

Krasić's agent has stated that several English clubs are interested in his client, including Tottenham and Chelsea.

As well as the English clubs, there is interest from Russia, but according to Krasić's agent, the Serbian winger, who played with CSKA Moscow for 6 years, would prefer to remain in Italy.

Nevertheless, Juventus are said to have offered the player to several clubs, including Liverpool, for a fee of around £14 million.

It is thought that Kenny Dalglish may gamble on the player, but only in a loan deal, as they are not prepared to meet Juve's valuation.

However, the last Serbian midfielder to play for Liverpool, Milan Jovanović, did not enjoy a great spell at Merseyside, so Krasić, who is also a seasoned international, may be reticent of a prospective move.

WOOOOOO

Milan Jovanović score twice tonight.

24 Jan 2012 21:04:19
Hi eds, I think it's a bit ridiculous we are getting overly excited on signing an un proven striker in david texeira I hope if we are only signing one striker it's a player who is already good enough to play for the great Liverpool FC maybe the likes of Soldado or fernando llorente!(I'm not expecting either of these but that's where we need to be aiming). Don't get me wrong signing David texeira would be good for the squad where he could learn and adapt to premier league life and not have thousands of expecting fans on his back who over the past 2 weeks have talked up this young lad to be the next saviour! Dubred

Couldn't agree more. Looks a decent player and maybe he will turn out to be amazing, but seems to me destined for the bench in the immediate future (assuming the rumors are true which I sort of doubt, TBH)

Loads were saying the same thing about suarez and that he would not be able to hack it in our league plus the goals he was scoring at ajax was because its not as tough as our league , who's to say soldado or lorentte would be any good in our league , give the kid a chance , let him prove you right before laying into him hey

mickyb

Don't you think that our scout watch him so many time before we go to buy him ?

We are not City and Chelsea can't always use Ł30 to Ł50 for a star player. so a bit gamble yes but I am sure the team watch him for long time.

I'm not laying into him I'm saying that everyone is talking this lad up without any prove that he's the real deal, I'm sure he could be but maybe not yet! Suarez isn't exactly the same coz he was banging them in for fun for the top team in holland and he was a regular on the international sscene! Dubred

I think it could be a great deal. But I really hope our fans dont expect him to turn everything around for us. If he can get a few games, learn a bit this season, he might prove good next year. If we offload Kuyt this summer, and get CL, we might buy a player like Soldado or Podolski, but we are not in the position to do that right now. We have Carroll, Bellamy, Kuyt and soon Suarez back and often play with one frontman. IMO we need a winger that can provide better service. It is easy to complain about the strikers.

What ive seen of him on youtube its is positions that he takes up that ive watched , and he picks the space around the penalty spot , he scored a lot of goals from this area , we are not buying him to take on players and dribble rings around them we are buying him to score goals , and on his form he is better at it than andy carrol , plus being south american they are used to tight marking and getting fouled , and good at getting away from players , all i can say is give the kid a chance after all hes only 20 or 21 , but i truley believe him and suarez will make a great partnership ,,,,mickyb {Ed016's Note - Youtube, top notch}

Don't have a problem with signing unproven players as long as they are cheap or good value.

It is the 35 million signings I am worried about.

24 Jan 2012 20:51:47
Hi eds

Is the luuk de jong deal through yet cuz there's been loads of speculation bout it

Cheers

LFC 4 EVA {Ed001's Note - last I heard he wanted to stay where he was until the summer.}

24 Jan 2012 20:47:49
Talksports.

David Texeira - FC Groningen to Livepool
Liverpool have made signing a striker their top priority for January, but have been quoted fees in excess of £20million for top targets Darren Bent and Roberto Soldado. Groningen's David Texeira is a cheaper option, and willing to be back up for Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll. Talks over a deal started last night, but there is still lots to sort out, including Groningen's desire to get a money spinning pre-season friendly included in a £6million package. (6/10).

any news from any of our Eds or Macca ?

R-R

Isnt Texeira last name Torres?

if so it could be slightly ironic if he signs!

NS

I saw a post say David Texeira is low class striker as Dutch league is low class . then how about Suarez is he low class? Real want Suarez when they have Higuain , Benzama in their team. Marco van Basten, Dennis Bergkamp, Robin van Persie also from Dutch league.

R-R

I can see it now, the newspaper titles for the transfer will be 'Liverpool Sign Torres' and the David Texiera Torres in small print - so that sell more papers.

Jolly Red

He's already signed apparently {Ed002's Note - Source: Twitter.}

Yeah, let's get the kid signed up! He plays quite similar to a young Torres. Then let's get Shaqiri and i'd be a happy lad.

24 Jan 2012 20:45:09
As Macca said - we will sign only 1 player. This player will be David Texeira. The fee has been agreed and everything is ok with work permit, he will sign :)

@nbstw

Macca said from inter, just saying.

Ok ignore my prev just saw macca said inter deal fell through

Texeira won't be a first team player. I'm sure Macca said that a first team player would be signed.

As Macca said, we would almost certainly sign the "Player" from Inter that now has miraculously fallen through. I will wait until 31 Jan to see for definite who will or won't sign.

SMBwings

24 Jan 2012 20:37:14
Eds and Macca,

If Crystal Palace crash out if the Carling Cup tonight, will LFC make one final bid to sign Wilfred Zaha?

If we are going to sign a strikers for the transfer window. Will this be a player we can bring and plug in right away, where he will offer some strong first team competition with Suarez and Carroll. Or will it be someone like Coates, who is there to be a insurance policy and for the future.

Harry the Red {Ed002's Note - I really don't know of confirmed interest in Zaha.}

Not exactly the proven center forward we are looking for?

Doesn't get his head up for me.

Realistic red

We are there watching Nathanial Clyne tonight. He's a Palace youngster who plays full back, and is nearing the end of his deal.

Jonesred

He doesn't have the temperament required for the top flight.

24 Jan 2012 20:26:02
Transfer window closing in a week. Suarez will be back soon, so signing 'cover' no longer makes sense. Therefore, any signings will be youth for the future. Please stop with the wishlists. We need another midfielder too, and a winger, but there are no good options available right now (LFC won't sign Granero simply because he is available. They need a player that fits in with their long term plans, and I suspect he does not or he'd have been signed 3 weeks ago. He is this years Fernando Gago).

GW

Signing cover does make sense, we need goals, what planet you living on

I would think that a new forward would have a positive effect as there would then be competition for the starting role/s up front
Zell

Signing cover makes sense given how we have struggled at times with out Suarez. Surely this has only further served to illustrate this fact. What if Suarez gets a long term injury?

I'm sure what he means is, we won't be making any signings just for the sake of it.

If good players aren't available, they're not available. And the players that are available are usually over-priced.
January is notoriously difficult to attract top players (Suarez being one of the few exceptions to the rule)

Anyone who says "we need a striker who scores goals" is simply stating the obvious!
Finding one however, is a little more difficult!

Buying young players with potential is the position we find ourselves in at the moment. Personally I quite like seeing the youngsters coming through, whether home grown or imported.
Maybe we'll sign some high profile players in the summer, maybe not.
Lets just all get behind the lads wearing the shirt at the moment and remind everyone why we're world famous for being the "12th man"
(p.s. I'll be in the Paddock tomorrow night singing at the top of my voice!)

Hey Macca

Following recent speculation I expect that striker to be David Texeira. I presume that's right?

Thanks for being the only trusted ITK on the internet

GJ

He doesnt play for inter

Reliable Source:

We will not be signing David Texeria this window. Absolute fact.

wot do people mean by ITK ? thanks

In the know!

Who said the striker played for Inter? Macca says the deal with the inter player has fallen through.

Hi Eds , liverpool sre without a def -midf , with the lucas injury i cant believe kenny will not try and buy one in this wndow because of the lenght of time lucas will be out for , but i have not seen that many def - midf mentioned on here , do you have any thoughts on this {Ed002's Note - He said he would not buy cover for Lucas.}

Spearing?
Zell

Hopefully, the important word in that statement is "buy".

Thanx for the information Eds ,spearing in injured , plus in my humble opinion i think kelly could play there aswell to great effect , but a international def-mid who already knows the role would close the gaps in our midfield

Hi eds. Lots of rumours going on about david texeira. I rumours are rumours but what if a deal is agreed. Would he get a work permit easily? I remember suarez and coates deals were delayed by redtape. If so how long to seal a move? {Ed002's Note - No idea, too many "ifs",}

24 Jan 2012 18:56:34
Ed can you confirm if a fee has been agreed for Texeira ? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea - did you read the earlier responses on the subject?}

24 Jan 2012 20:05:48
We will only sign one first team player this window..

It will be a striker and nothing else..

I have no idea who it is.. i also believe the deal to sign the guy from Inter has fallen through for now..

Cheers

Macca

Macca since it's fallen through can you now confirm who it was? Castaignos or Coutinho?

Thanks,

Kieran

Hi Macca, do you rate the chances of LFC going back in again for this player

Cheers macca always apprrciated

Hi Macca, Would the young lad David Texeira be considered '1st' team as you put it? From what ive heard his signing is on the cards.

Cheers

Seriously? I am not being funny or cynical but 'the lad from inter' he got completely wrong and says we will only sign one first team player?! I'm no future teller but that's a pretty obvious statement.

Cheers Macca.... Legend.

Thanks for the update Macca. (Genuine Ed?)

Cheers Macca, info always appreciated!

Any updates on potential outs? Or are we waiting to move people on in the summer since Euros are coming up and everyone is terrified of losing their place?
Thanks,
Seth

Thanks for the update Macca.

Thanks macca always nice to hear from you

If its fallen through can't u tell us who the player was?
thanks
skurks

You say that the deal has fallen through 'for now'. Any chance that we may resurrect the deal this window?

Liverpool will be signing Esteban Granero, Mauricio Isla and possibly Philippe Coutinho from Inter Milan if the deal goes through in time by the end of the transfer window.

Esteban Granero will be signed on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season for cover for Lucas. There's a chance that Lucas may take even longer to get back to the way he was performing so expect Granero to sign permanently if he impresses.

Mauricio Isla will be signing for an undisclosed fee. He will play Right back position. He is seen as a very consistent player like Jose Enrique who can go forward and create chances. Expect Glen Johnson to be leaving in the summer due to high wages and he's not what Liverpool need in terms of defending or as a right midfielder.

Philippe Coutinho is another player that Damien Camolli is considering. Due to work permit issues it may be hard to get the player signed but as long as a fee can be agreed I would expect the player will become available at some time next month.

With Luis Suarez coming back, Andy Carroll lacking fitness, Dirk Kuyt not hitting the target. You would expect a striker coming in but the idea of more creative players is reasonable. Expect Maxi, Kuyt, Johnson and a few more players to leave in the summer and another striker to be brought in.

Daniel Hanwell YNWA JFT96

We need to sign players now because if we dont there will be no champs leauge

Hope this is true but im not 2 sure on granero. is he good enough?

There will be no champs league anyway

Even with these players, I doubt we would get 4th spot!

Why do we need a right back like Isla surley Kelly and Flanagan are there to step in if Johnson moves ?

We need a strong full back like Jose Enrique. Kelly and Flanagan are not like Enrique in any way, kelly could play right back/midfield and Flanagan is for the future. Grenero is a very good player, similar to Xabi Alonso. Coutinho is a player we need, we don't have anyone with the ability he has in the squad apart from Suarez.

Also I disagree with macca. Why would any players in the team know anything?

Daniel Hanwell

One position on the field we are not lacking in for players is right back I agree Johnson will poss go but this is only because he is a saleable assett on high wages who is holding back not potential but young proven players from playing in this position. With these players also being english born and bred no replacement for Johnson is neeeded just natural development from reserve/youth squad which is what we all like to see.

Why would you know anything?

Joao Carlos Teixera has signed for us...

How do you know? it is not on sky sports or liverpool official website

Nothing on any other credible site except your constant comments

No he has not

And you know this how? Just asking!

LFC Scouts at Crystal Palace game tonight scouting Wilfried Zaha.

KopKing

Or maybe watching the team we could face

They are scouting a possible opponent for the final if we get through!

Hes already been scouted and is not good enough.

Square tomato

It wil b for tatics if we reach the final

Are liverpool going to sign any 1 for the first team time running out

Perhapse they're just scouting the team they'll meet in the cup final!!

Clyne is the player

They're probably watching the game to see their potential final opponents

Do you really think we would still be
scouting at this stage in the window.....

I believe that the two Texeiras will sign , Joa Carlos Texeira deal has been agreed but he will only come in the summer so that is why liverpool are keeping it quiet
The David Texeira deal is done he is keen to join Liverpool the only thing liverpool need to do is get the player who is joining groningen to join groningen
also about castaignos i beleive inter did not want to sell him because they only signed him in the summer and they still want to include him in the team but however they might let him go in the summer if he keeps on not getting as mutch game time as he feels he should be getting and then Castaignos would be very keen on joining liverpool and playing in the prem
all this is from a very reliable source not allow to mention his name for obvious reasons but he is currently working at the club

With both Texeiras in our team we only need a few EXTRA.!!

Even Macca has confirmed it now David Texeira will be the one signing and deal that fell through was Castaignos as i explained because inter wanted to keep him

24 Jan 2012 18:40:35
any interest in muniain from bilbao he looks good {Ed002's Note - Muniain has been touted around the clubs on behalf of Bilbao - and two clubs in England have certainly been approached all ready. The asking price is 40M euros. They won't get it. I don't think clubs would risk half of that on a player who is young and has shown himself to be pretty immature. Roma interest is still there but perhaps an eventual move to Barcelona beckons.}

Fee agreed for Texeira. Bit late but been confirmed to me by my source.

Hoilett negotiations ongoing. Birmingham pushing for the Dann money thats due so if we can tempt Blackburn with a decent bid I dont see the Venky's saying no...

Krasic deal is off. Kenny isnt too keen on him. Comolli wants him but Kenny has pulled out because he prefers Hoilett and there is a good chance of him signing.

And expect one more striker after Texeira. No names as of yet.

RM

Two strikers and Scott Dann? This rumour is false

Good if its true

I think they meant that if we bought hoilett they would use that money to pay birmingham for dann
Mike

No chance this is liverpool not manc city

RM means Blackburn owe money to Birmingham do if we buy hoilett it frees up the cash, understand? Hope it's true.

Square tomato

What do you call a decent bid for a player whose contact's up at the end of this season?

I would be happy with hoilett especially if we could get him for good money

Hi eds I have 3 questions. 1. Can the owners not afford to build a new stadium without a naming rights deal? 2. What percentage of the cost would this name deal cover? 3. How much money could we potentially make from a season in the Europa league? Thanks

{Ed002's Note - (1) They would need to put the club in to very significant debt to do so; (2) It would likely be spread over 10 years and used to pay off much of the loans to build the stadium. After interest, perhaps 30% (off the top of my head); (3) For last year, a side could pick up, at best, €6.44m not counting the market pool share.}

Thanks ed. Is there a significant difference between Europa league and champions league revenue? {Ed002's Note - Yes. Spurs, who effectively replaced Liverpool last season, made about Ł37M from the Champions League.}

Can you compare a place in the last 16 in Europa League and Champions League last 16 income Ed002?

Wow. I knew the champions league was a big deal but I didn't realise how financially important it is. Thanks for the info ed

24 Jan 2012 18:05:21
David Texeira FC Groningen. Looks good can score both leg tall guy around 6fit. £8m price not that bad . Risk is there, yes otherwise you have to pay £20m this day.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4JRFnOA5Us

-HHH-

8M for a player thats scored 8 goals in a very poor league is alot of money and a big risk if he was available for a couple of mil then that would make sense

Andy carrols goals have cost us nearly 6 mil each , this 20year old can score with both feet and with is head to , plus he can control a ball and has some speed aswell ,everything andy carrol has notgot

24 Jan 2012 17:55:08
hi ed, i know it maybe just another random player who is being mentioned but ive watched videos of texeira and most of his goals was set up by a player called Dušan Tadić he looked really good and last year he was the 3rd assist king in europe, behind messi and Ozil he got something like 19 assists. Any interests ed? {Ed002's Note - As you say, another random player. At the moment I don't even know if there is firm interest in Texeira.}

Was he the number 10, if so yes amazing player dont know his name either lol

Yes he looked really good and is only 23

Texeira looked good but he made him look better

24 Jan 2012 17:51:26
We should go for Pablo Hernandez from Valencia in 27 games he has had 9 assists and 2 goals now i know that does not seem great but 1. it's better than any winger we have and 2. all 27 games have been from the bench so he has a good impact on the game

Er we only have one real winger so being better than Downing might not prove a lot!

24 Jan 2012 17:41:43
Are we still interested in Yahn M'vila (spelling) also I live in Kirkby saw a few reporters outside the academy this morning maybe texiera {Ed002's Note - Inter, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, Genoa and perhaps Liverpool & Chelsea showed an interest or enquired about M'Vila this past summer. M'Vila will almost certainly not move until next summer. A significant bid from Manchester City has already been turned down. With that offer that was made for M'Vila in the summer Rennes have upped their valuation of the player to an extent where Creachcadec has said no Italian team can aford M'Vila. I would expect that there may be interest in him from PSG, Barcelona and possibly Real Madrid by the time he comes up for sale in the summer. I would be astonished if M'Vila moved in January, but his agent is telling clubs that there is a clause in his contract that can invoke a release for a single 20M euro payment to Rennes and then he is looking to negotiate a signing on fee as well.}

Are defo from Kirkby? Because I am, and you should've known there was a game at the Academy today, as I did.
Maybe the owners were in attendance? Lucas may have made a visit as he's back in the country

There was a match in Kirkby today between Blackburn and Liverpool reserves, Tom Werner and Kenny were there, might explain the press interest.

24 Jan 2012 17:38:13
Hi Eds do you know if Liverpool have looked at Theo Wharton from Cardiff city great prospect only 17 {Ed002's Note - I am not really hip to the kiddie game.}

Played against this lad when I was in school back in the UK, he's a decent player but he hasn't got much strength... One thing he does have is blistering pace, we used to cross paths now and then during the Newport and Torfaen Athletics Championships.

He did have trials with Manchester United before he went to Cardiff, think when he was about 14/15 but eventually joined Cardiff after he was bumped back from Utd, who knows they might still have an aye on him.

Anything on this guy I can get is 100%.

24 Jan 2012 17:31:55
Eds, what is the chance of Liverpool making a late bid for Shaqiri? I heard his move to Gala has fallen through.

Cheers

KP {Ed002's Note - If Shaqiri were to be available now then there would be plenty of interest including at least Galatasary, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Hamburg, Leverkusen, both Manchester clubs and Liverpool. A recent low bid from Galatasary was not accepted and they are planning on trying again to get Basel to consider selling in this window. I am also sure if he were to become available then Arsenal would also be interested. However, for me it is tough to see him leaving a team he has been with since he was a young child - particularly during their Champions League run. Perhaps the summer is a better option.}

Think liverpool will now become mid table team

Dont think liverpool can attract players of quality any more just look at the squad

Rumour has it that a fee for D. Texeira has been agreed and the clubs need to sort a package out to send a Liverpool player the other way on loan
L1

Andy Carroll get some confidence

Y wud we loan any1 out to groningen. they won't develop at all.

I have heard the same from holland media awaiting to announce deal. Expect end of this week. Club want no distractions going into the manchester city game.

Jordan

I really can't see us loaning a player in return, I honestly don't think they will develop much over there

JM

Kuyt ..

If players don't develope in the Dutch League or if it's such a bad standard how can we tell that David Teixeiras' gonna be any good?

The club was good enough for Luis Suarez before he went to Ajax!

Maybe kuyt :)
Shanio1

On loan i would send adam , carrol and downing , maybe then they would realise what it means to play for liverpool

24 Jan 2012 16:15:52
Ed you have probably been asked this but maybe not quite the same question.

Could you see Liverpool signing Teixera, Isla and one of either Granero or Krasic as a loan deal?

I think one of Teixera, Krasic or maybe Castagounis is imminent but would welcome your thoughts on the idea of three arriving in this window.

The window has seen some surprise options become available, such as Honda, Krasic etc. I think the below are our possible targets

Granero
Isla
Krasic
Castagounis
Coutinhno
Teixera
Loidero

I think the above are the only ones we are focussing on this window.

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - It is all speculation and has all been discussed and I have given my opinion on each. It seems futile to keep going over the same thing.}

According to Emirates 24/7, Liverpool 's super striker Luis Suarez could be subject to bids from Real Madrid and Inter Milan . The belief is that another League would offer Suarez an escape from the awkward situation he finds himself facing in the Premier League. Like it or loathe it, Suarez now has a reputation and despite his talent he won't be a popular player outside of Anfield.

Whether or not this is enough to force him out of England, remains to be seen. For now Suarez seems completely behind this Liverpool side. Whilst I doubt he was impressed with Liverpool's showing against Bolton in the 3-1 loss, he still took to Twitter to pledge his support:

"We couldn't win today but I trust a lot on my teammates, I can't wait to play again!!!"

Exclamation point abuse aside, this is clearly a man who has been made to feel at home at Liverpool and is unlikely to be pressuring for a move away any time soon. Liverpool may not be getting the results, but Suarez seems satisfied enough for the time being.

Nobody knows quite how bad the reaction to Suarez's return will be. Whilst opposition fans will surely let him know that they disapprove of his actions, Liverpool fans will stay steadfastly behind their man. Emirates 24/7 claims that there's the fear amongst the Liverpool hierarchy that Suarez could end up as 'damaged goods'. I don't know how that would be possible – all the bad publicity in the world couldn't strip Suarez of his talent.

To say that clubs will be bidding for Suarez this summer is stating the obvious, but to suggest that he might consider making a move because of the Evra saga seems off the mark. If anything the scandal has forged closer bonds between Suarez and Liverpool. It's clear to everyone that Kenny Dalglish and his teammates are behind him and will offer him support when things get tough.

What's more he's in the privileged position of being one of the Reds best players (if not THE best). This will buy him a lot of patience with the fans, who are renowned for sticking behind their players. As such, It's hard to see why Suarez would want to move this summer.

Whether or not he'd be a good fit at a club like Real Madrid or Inter Milan is irrelevant. All that matters is that he's happy at Liverpool and is likely to stay that way for the foreseeable future.

Loads of rubbish!!
suarez comes back against united at anfield.. trust me he will feel at home in that match with the whole of anfield cheering for the return of our number 7! {Ed002's Note - ER, no. I think you are somewhat confused. He will be available for selection from the Spurs game onwards.}

Eds ive said the same about the spurs game , but got shouted down by all who think they know better, thanx for clearing that up , about suarez he wanted to come to us from ajax and the ajax fans gave him a great send off , by singing you'll never walk alone , i think after all the support he has had from the club and his team mates and the fans will make him want to stay even more ,plus when as the stick from supporters affected him

''Sticking behind their players''.Tell that to Carroll,Adam and Downing.Have you been on the Moon for the last month or two ?? Brendan

Suarez will not be sold. Full stop. The fantasy story was started by a manc journalist!

''''Sticking behind their players''.Tell that to Carroll,Adam and Downing.Have you been on the Moon for the last month or two ? Brendan''

At the very least Suarez seems to have some understanding of what it means to wear our shirt with passion and pride. You could never point the finger at Suarez for not working hard enough or showing enough passion or #care - Whatever happened with Evra that day - true or false - he was wound up because he wanted to win for the team and club - that's passion.

Carroll - He's a Geordie at heart - they have their own heritage and even when he is trying hard it doesn't look like he is because he runs like a donkey and there is more rush and fizz in a bottle of pop.

Adam - Seems to have passion somewhere but it's not always visible - I think people are a little harsh on him, I think it's more down to ability rather than pride.

Downing - Has never shown any real allegiance, committment or loyalty to any club throughout his career. He doesn't represent ''You'll never walk alone'' - he's a mercenary and his performances and attitude suggests this.

Obviously this is all my opinion.

RobbehLFC.

Kuyt agrees PSV move in the summer. Luuk De Jong to stay at Twente until at least the summer. And Groningen are open to offers of at least 10.5m Euro for D. Texeira.

This is information directly from a proper source in the Netherlands.

If Kuyt goes to Holland, he`ll go to Feyenoord

just been told that Tadić Is someone that we have
been looking at for the wings can use both feet and sets up most of Texeira goals could be a double swoop with kuyt going the other way

Deano

I saw this guy when looking at David T. on youtube and he also looks a great talent.

Yes he is talented have seen him a few times also since the news of Texeria broke......

Think this is just wishful thinking because people have been made aware of Tadic due to watching Texeira videos - no interest from Liverpool (though if we did show interest I would be happy - he looks good)

Hey Ed's , do use know if liverpool are in talks to sign granero? cheers !! {Ed002's Note - Surplus to long-term requirements in Madrid but may be needed to provide cover through to the summer. Granero could interest any number of clubs and may be used as a makeweight in a transfer. Only solid interest at this time has been from Blackburn Rovers and Sevilla but unsubstantiated rumours have linked him to Liverpool and Espanyol as well.}

eds i hear villareal are in a dire financial state and are looking to cash in on nilmar,tidy player and good finisher, are we or have we had him scouted i remember you guys saying we watched villareal a few times could we have been looking at him

the freshmaker {Ed002's Note - Not an option - he wants to go home to Brazil.}

Would Rossi be an option considering their financial state?

I realise we would be looking at at least 20 million for starters, but he's young and has been successful in Spain.

Ed do you know if we have ever shown an interest in him or even scouted him?
I can't remember us linked with Rossi ever.

Newspaper Ovacion is reporting that a £9m deal for FC Groningen's Uruguayan forward David Texeira to move to Liverpool is imminent.

Mark

Why do liverpool keep on going for south americans they never seem to settel. Lucas is the exeption

Hope it proves to be accurate. But no disrespect to Texiera but i was hoping for a more higher profile striker.

BigD

I like the look of him

Just lucas thats settled? I think suarez has dine a great job so far and maxi when given time to play.

Gezza1982

Lucas the exception? Funny that i thought Suarez & Coates are South American, oh and Aguero! Must be wrong!

Aguero is not playing for us

Aurelio?

Aurlio the one who spends his life in the treatment room. Suarez whos just been done for racism who rarely puts the ball in back of net. Coates whos he? Got a point there lads lol

Who the hell is Aurlio?

Ed have u heard anything on pato {Ed002's Note - I think PSG would still like a deal if it could be arranged. They are struggling to find a striker that is willing to move and having lost out on Tevez and seemingly Pato they will return to Soldado as a target.}

Id take Pato at Ł28m all day, ain't sure of his wage tho ..

BigD

So ed's could a move to liverpool be on the cards? As AC milan president said yesterday that they have a deal in place with catania for there striker. So does this mean they want pato out? {Ed002's Note - He was talking about Maxi Lopez as an alternative to Tevez. Pato is certainly for sale which is why they allowed PSG to talk to him. I don't see how Liverpool enter in to any of this at the moment, but if they could raise the money (I assume by selling Suarez) and if they suddenly become interested in a player who has suffered a lack of form and injuries in recent times, then why not.}

For the money and wags he is a big big risk. I think he is class though and would like to see us take a punt on him....

However, 28million is a lot for a player who, as the Editor has pointed out, has suffered persistent injuries and a lack of form the past year and a half. Not to forget his wages would be astronomical and he apparently has a bad attitude off the pitch i.e. parties, women etc etc basically his head being turned by non-football related matters. Don't think we are in a position to take such an expensive gamble. Have heard Chelsea might be sniffing around him though with Torres potentially heading off to PSG.

My best mate works for the company which is responsible for supplying match day kits for all Adidas sponsored clubs including LFC and CFC. Now ,he has just been e-mailed the following which he kindly leaked to me(and I quote):

'Dear Matt,

Please can you supply 10 complete kits for Liverpool Football Club with the name 'TORRES' printed on the rear of the shirt. The squad number for said player will be 13. Oh and can you cancel the Chelsea one with Torres on the back. Size code is 463

Yours Sincerely,

Brendan Foster' {Ed002's Note - So what do you think this means?}

Classic mate i needed a laugh.

This made me Laugh

What a load of crap

Why would they do that when they have 3 club shops full of shirts and there own printing machine in every shop including one at anfield??

What a fantastic story total bs

Funny how someone in such a position doesn't care his name is quoted in the 'leak'...

Well it could mean that we are signing the Mexican kid Erik Torres and Chelsea are selling Fernando Torres to someone back in Spain :)

Utter bulls**t, how many times do the eds/and fellow posters have to say fernando torres will not be coming back ...

bigd

Sounded abit bellievable until you said 'oh And can you cancel the torres on for chelsea' how unproffosional is that!

Arent both llorente and the uraguayan from groningen called torres as well? could be any one of the three, if it is true.

Smart giving us your best mates name as well

You should ask him to print one for you with the word 'Simpleton' on the back.

David texeira torres
girly hair torres will go elsewhere, over the water would be good :0)
Piddy.

I believe him and I also believe that football is a working man's sport that has nothing to do with a game of acquisitions between billionaires, who know little or nothing about the game, whereby they stockpile the most famous footballers and trophies and the matches themselves are by and large foregone conclusions.

It will be David Texeira Torres

What a weapon
bulford-widnes ozy

{Ed002's Note - So what do you think this means?} - I think this means his mate 'Matt' is likely to get info on another signing. His signing ON at the Job centre.

Cesar David Texiera Torres!! does that give you a clue

I'm glad they clarified to get get the name printed on the rear! Instead of the socks as is normal!

Why would Brendan Foster, Former Vice President of Nike Europe be writing e-mails about Adidas Shirts?

It's certainly one of the more imaginative rumours... give the guy credit for that!

Richards

And then you woke up and had your cornflakes.

Kenny just gave us a bell asking if i was available tommorow

So Bon Jovi's drummer Tico Torres has finally seen the light and switched his allegiances.

A source close to the action told me that:

Granero deal is DONE! Welcome to LFC.

David Texiera talks to continue. A deal is close.

Source?

The source being yourself

Where do you people get these "sources" from

GV923

I hope so, he would be a great addition

Its some numbty who wants to be the next macca!! Difference is he thinks macca guessed work last jan, so thought he might aswell go with the 2 players been mentioned the most likely to join by all of the posts on this site and others. Then it be if they happen? [i told u so]. Get a life lol macca has sources u have a vivid imagination lol.

Gezza1982

People get these sources from the dark recesses of their subconscious mind. A place that is unexplored and misunderstood however a place of great power!

Why on earth would anyone, with genuine information, give their source away. Do you see macca giving his sources a name drop, no. And you all take his word as gospel truth. Personally I hope this guy is true, could be good bit of business, provided we don't get had off like the summer s**te prices.

He better not have signed he's s**te

This is what the fc Groningen ceo had to say on the official website

Transfer Window
"It is an exciting week anyway. Like most people probably know, clubs have until January 31 the opportunity to strengthen the selection. Then close the intermediate transfer window. Such a transfer window always provides noise and rumors. Our players are mentioned numerous times in articles in newspapers, but especially on the Internet. Especially in football and fan sites are speculating about possible transfers and each message as a whole or half truth seen. "

can you please post on rumours

Liverpool have put on hold a move for Dutch striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel.
Director of football Damien Comolli was close to agreeing a deal with Sporting Clube de Portugal for the highly-rated 22-year-old (23 later this month) following months of negotiations with them and the player's representative.
However, the player recently picked up a hip injury and isn't due back in action until after the transfer window closes and there lies the problem.

It wasn't a problem last year with Andy Carroll

Thats off koptalk................

I know its not the soldado or podolski who we were all hoping for but i would very happily see him join lfc. Despite the fact my friends would take the p*** out fo me

Liverpool and Real Madrid open talks over loan move for Esteban Granero

24 Jan 2012 14:17:41
Liverpool have opened talks with FC Groningen to bring their forward David Texeira to Anfield, according to the Metro.

Texeira, 20, is a Uruguayan youth international and is reported that Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is ready to spend around £10m on the youngster to help solve the Reds' goals problem.

Liverpool would be hoping that Texeira could follow in the footsteps of current Anfield hero Luis Suarez who also spent time with FC Groningen before joining Ajax.

The youngster has eight goals in 14 Dutch league matches this season and is believed to be one of the hottest prospects in Uruguayan football.

If Texeira was to make the move to Liverpool, he would join Suarez and defender Sebastian Coates as the third Uruguayan to sign on at the Merseyside outfit.

Liverpool have also been linked to Valencia striker Roberto Soldado and Aston Villa's Darren Bent but the Metro claims that the Reds have been priced-out of moves for the duo.

24 Jan 2012 14:16:33

Laros represents Wolfswinkel. Not only that but he's also been mooted as trying to negotiate a deal on behalf of FC Groningen for David Texeira.

Sources close to Laros claim that Liverpool were on the verge of signing Wolfswinkel.

"Liverpool were very close to signing Wolfswinkel," said a source involved in the deal. "The fee was agreed in principle but with Ricky out for another couple of weeks, Liverpool are holding off.

"They wanted to conclude a deal now, during this window, because of interest from Manchester United and others."

He added: "They (Liverpool) have been forced to look at other options but Ricky was a major target for them. I think they will come back

do u think this is true ed {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of the quote but I am aware that with interest from Lazio and, particularly, Fiorentina that Sporting said they will talk to interested parties who offer 20M euros or more - about four times what they paid in the summer.}

Do you still think Luuk De Jong is a possible signing this window or next?

Hey eds

I know I may get strung up from the nearest tree, but going away from player rumours slightly..are you aware of how true the mourinho rumblings are over in Spain and is it realistic to hope he may come to anfield..I know blind faithful might not like that but I'm just doing what Apollo Creed recommends and being a thinker, not a stinker

Cheers

Ray

If it ever did happen, and I'm 100% sure it won't, would you be willing to swap "The Liverpool Way" for winning? Mourinho would trample all over Liverpool's heritage

I would love him at anfield. I think he could move on himself if he won the league in spain.

I'd take him but only if Dalglish decided to step aside.

Does he not want the United post, after a certain pain in the arse steps aside? Not sure he would understand what it means to manage us, but stranger things have happened!

Keith

I'd have to let my head rule over my heart (we've been waiting far too long for a trophy) and say I would welcome this.

I think we would love to be playing good football well in the hunt of the top 4 with Kenny at the helm but I think if we are honest with ourselves, I think we know in our heart of hearts Kenny ain't the man for the job (short term last season yes) long term project, no...we need something 'special'

The problem isn't the management - it's the players wearing the shirt.

Dalglish is as good of a manager as anyone and as a Liverpool fan and the connection he shares with this club I wouldn't choose anyone over Kenny.

RobbehLFC

Sorry, not a chance the current owners are here only to make a profit and as much profit as possible,
Liverpool FC has already improved revenue streams through the new marketing schemes (yes they are schemes) set in place since the new owners arrived. But we won't see a penny of this in players transfers. They gave us an initial outlay at the beginning for younger players who with the youth team players will be the only players at anfield (there may be some very rare cases though in the case of emergencies of cheap but overinflated to the media prices)
p.s Torres was sold for Ł32.4 million not for Ł50million The club feared a financial backlash from the fans it the truth had been revealed, the same is also the case with Carroll, Not been told the exact price although its believed to be 17-22 million not 30million,
Now either the eds won't post this, or there'll be either ed or liverpool agent or sky agent (or probably most of them) al posted that this is drivel in the knolwedge that a lemming society will follow suit (as is always the case)
But ask yourself the question what if those real prices were true? What do you think would of been the reactions from the Liverpool/Newcastle Fans? both sets would be lived at clubs cashing in profit, instead of just accepting it like they did...
p.p.s i'll give you one more for free.. Torres never wanted to leave.. the whole "they made promises" etc is just a marketed script read from, and is the case in far more transfers than you think. The players are tied down from not publicly revealing the truth by the FA itself not the just the club and its payoff...
And while i'm in this generous mood..
Ask yourself why 2 owners that had no choice but to sell the club, and knew they would not be there next year would sack and pay off Rafa 6 million plus any other expenses to the manager? makes no sense does it...
The FA wanted him out as he made the cardinal sin of questioning a certain Sir Alex, comments of which if analysed further, could quite easily de-hypnotized the public as to how fixed the game really is, to ensure maximum profits from a multi billion pound industry .. This was easily acheived by changing Liverpool 'run of the green' in respect to not just ref decisions but also how they let the game play(is actually more effective) This was mass-media hypnotized to everyone as 'Rafa's Rant' rather than "hey rafa questioned the game itself and now we get no decisions at all, think that just about proves it"
What a powerful thing this really is...
plus the last thing the the new owner wanted was someone asking for money to create a team capable of winning the title {Ed002's Note - You should post this on the "Conspiracy" page.}

I have investigated many conspiracies, never even thought of this one, its brilliant, but is it true, the answer is no its not true.

Although there may be some truth in it like many a good conspiracy, FSG are not a benevolent sheik, Henry wants to make money and if Liverpool have a team of brilliant reserve team footballers that make it into the first team there may be a rash of sales of these players and then this and other boards will light up like never before as citeh and chelsea plunder the cream of Liverpool talent. Interesting!

Whats fits on the back page of a paper

"hey rafa questioned the game itself and now we get no decisions at all.''

or,

''Rafa's Rant''.....

Do us all a favour mate and go get some fresh air. You need to get off the computer for a while you hermit. And if any of it was true regarding sale prices, do you really think that Torres and Carrol would continue to persecute themselves for being 'such a waste of money'.

taffytel
You are a deluded freak

Don't want Mourinho. Would rather get Brendan Rogers than him.

Want Guardiola. And I think the owners do also. And what does Guardiola want? Arsenal or us , I think.

I've never read anything more stupid than that guy's conspiracy theory lol

I'd rather have Barca's Pep than that cheat at Real, Could you imagine us playing like barca lol i could only dream.

I've seen Liam Hearn a few times this season as Grimsby are my home town club. He is good, would go down a storm in League 2, be a decent performer in League 1, have a chance of making the grade in the Championship but I don't think he'd cut it at Premiership level.

Anyone know are the south american world cup qualifiers alligned to the european ones, I think not. We seem to have and be looking at a few now, could this not become an issue in the future.
Also 2 wins from lifting a cup, does this get us into Europa? the qualifying rules seem to change all the time.
RNred
ps. tried the search Ed.. {Ed002's Note - The Carling Cup gets Europa. The WC qualifying does not dramatically hit the club games.}

Cheers Ed. No idea why it got 2 unbelievables-guess they dont like your answers mate. Lol {Ed002's Note - I always feel so hurt when that happens.}

Hi Ed, Is there any chance of Danny PACHECO returning from his loan spell at RAYO VALLECANO. The lad seems to have been forgotton about, did well at Norwich last season! I seem surprised he aint been recalled with suarez being banned! What do you think mate?

Chris {Ed002's Note - I don't think you will see him back at Liverpool at all.}

No goals in eight games isn't an impressive record at Rayo Vallecano. Saying that, it is better than Andy Carrolls!

I don't understand this at all to be honest, he is on loan, still with the club, so why is everyone talking like he has left? He is a good young striker who seems to have improved abroad, why are we resigned to see him go!?

Another gifted young player who has failed - so far - to fulfil his undoubted potential. He was loaned to Atletico Madrid who then immediately loaned him to Rayo Vallecano. He has played eight times and failed to score. He is not the answer to our current problems.

As a kid he shone because he had pace and skill but in the adult game his lack of size and diminished pace advantage have meant he hasn't moved on. Atletico have an option to buy at the end of the season but he's not scored at RV in 8 games and not setting the world on fire in any other way so maybe he'll be moved on elsewhere. Can't see him coming back here as the Ed said

They say lightning doesn't strike twice but......
I work in IT and was today trying to get some bloke's files back after he deleted them. When I remoted onto his desktop, there was a youtube video open of Clint Dempsey. The files that I recovered for him were all in a subdirectory titled "LFC scouting info" Now I didn't read any of the files and don't like to jump to conclusions but........

Ian

What are you on about man.

Doing our scouting through youtube now then. get a grip you fool

Oh my god these sources for these rumours are getting better and better! ....Amazing!

And the other video was of your 15 th birthday from last month.

Thanks Ian, I enjoyed that one. Quite original.

Scouting a premiership/international player by You Tube? Is this becasue LFC are not aware of him. !! Nice try ...

Don't you all know our scouting dept are all now working from home, watching youtube and playing footy manager! Brilliant stuff

I have a file like that myself. I do not work for the club.

Haha brilliant one. Are u the guy who posted yesterday about having a friend who repairs the photocopier at lfc. Because this one is as class as that.

Lmfao nice 1 mate. btw was it your mate that fixed the photocopier at mellwood yesterday and found similar evidence regarding a certain texan. :)

Haha. That's got to be the most ridiculous 'source' I've read on here to date.

Maybe our scouts are no longer able to afford the fuel prices so do scouting from home and YouTube! fool.

Best heap of horsesh*te i have ever read. where do they dream this crap up.

Aren't you the persons whos mate fixes photocopiers and left a post about dempsey yesterday.. lol lol lol

Yes that was my mate with the photocopier.

I saw a post on here earlier about an interview with Willian where he spoke very highly of liverpool. Can the eds or anybody else tell me if it's a genuine interview or a load of lies?
Can't see him coming to Liverpool unfortunately, if a player does an interview like that it says to me he would come but the club don't want him. But it's always nice to know that top players still want to come to Liverpool.

MIKEY {Ed002's Note - Moving will be more BS Mikey. The interview is true but the interest is missing. But there is a price and he wants a move and he is available.}

Pienaar, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique
Dempsey, Sissoko, Downing
Gerra
Honda, Suarez

That will win us games fosho. azkop

"It is flattering to hear teams such as Chelsea and Liverpool could be watching me. Every time I get the chance I watch Liverpool. They are a very important club and a lot of players would jump at the chance to play for them".

This is a direct quote from Willian 1 of the brightest young wingers in Europe at the moment. I have watched this guy play a few times and he reminds me very much of a young Ronaldinho. He has pace to burn, has power, he is 2 footed, can play on either flank and he is very, very tricky on the ball so in a nutshell just the type of flair player we are lacking at the moment.

I thought I would just post this to quash the popular myth that many try to use when justifying the ridiculous signings of players like Downing Hendo Carroll saying we had no choice we had to sign these players as we should not even consider cheaper more technically gifted players like Willian (and 50 others) as we cannot offer CL football.

I think some fans have forgotten the pull of LFC yes we have no CL but fan base wise, history wise and brand wise we are still 1 of the biggest clubs in the world. Our global standing is reflected by our sponsorship deals with Standard Chartered and Warrior Sport as they know we are still 1 of the biggest and well supported clubs in the world.

Players know we are in a rebuilding process and some players want to be part of that, yes not all top draw players will want to come but some will be more than happy to come to LFC. Yes players like Hazard Hulk Pato etc maybe out of the question but players like Willian are not.

The sad fact is we have made a lifestyle choice of buying mediocre British players at any cost so we probably have more of a chance of seeing Mat Jarvis at LFC for 20mil rather then say somebody like Willian who would probably be available for less then that.

{Ed002's Note - As I said, Willain is available, he wants to move to England (having said nice things about Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea) and there is a known price that will be acceptable.}

Most players speak highly of prospective employee's! So its no supprise to hear him speak like so

How much would he cost ED? {Ed002's Note - They want 30M euros. A reduction from 35M euros, but a lot more than the 20M euros that Chelsea were offering. I am by no means convinced by the player - certainly at that price.}

Right so if we have been priced out of soldado how could we possibly afford willian although i admit he is a great young prospect. we need a striker.

Do you know of any new news on the luc castaigons situation? {Ed002's Note - Not right now.}

24 Jan 2012 12:35:56
Great news to all affiliated with Liverpool.
Ibrahim Affelay finally will be joining LFC as well as Pato end of January. FSG, Std Chartered as well Warrior is eager for Champions League Football as they need to see ROI.
So front men will look something like this: 4-2-3-1 system:

Carrol
Pato, Suarez, Affelay
Henderson, Gerrard
Enrique, Agger, Skyrtel, Johnson
Reina

{Ed002's Note - I suspect that with Affelay out injured pretty much all of this season it is unlikely that Liverpool would take a chance on him - but what the hell.}

This is Liverpool Rumours, not Fantasy Football. Get real mate.

Would be hell of a team

What an idiot. Think we should get Villa too?

Pato wow and the price is ? who is going to pay that money ? PSG want Pato so we can forgot about it.

LOLLABLE!

Hw bout changein carrol wiv bellamy put him on the left pato upfront that b a good team n

Ah, Ed002 - you are such a spoilsport?! Why let a little thing like an injury and the truth get in the way of a good rumour! ;-)
Seriously though, when is Hazard arriving for his medical? I'm sure I saw him in a chippie in toxteth with Robbie Fowler!
5uarezTimes {Ed002's Note - I heard Michael Owen is flying him in to Melwood around 9:30 tomorrow morning - does that make sense? Can Michael Owen fly? Has Melwood a landing strip. We will have to keep a watchful eye open.}

24 Jan 2012 12:32:01
eds do you think that if dalglish does not buy any first team players this jan and we dont win any cups and dont qualify for atleast euro that he will be sacked? is so would steve clarke be the one to step up and take his place or would we bring in someone else?
{Ed002's Note - There are a lot of "ifs" there. Being in a semi-final of a domestic cup taking a lead in to second place, still being in the mix to fight for a Champions League spot. I would very much doubt that SC will be Liverpool's next manager.}

I feel really guilty about this because Kenny is a childhood hero, but I want Rafa back. Evans and Houillier didn't work out so well together but I'd love to see these two combine somehow.

Oh and give Commoli his p45, if Rafa has time and money he has a good eye for players.

24 Jan 2012 12:30:55
Heard a rumour from quite a good source today that Rafa is being lined up to return at the end of the season and Kenny will be moved back upstairs as a director of football role!

A bit weird how Rafa wasn't really linked with recent PSG and QPR jobs maybe there is something into this!

Strange how he is still living in Liverpool aswell and donating to the Hillsborough charity!

I was personally disappointed in the circumstances he left So who knows

PAULMONDO YNWA

Would we really wanna go there again?,i mean,i love rafa,maybe thats why he aint working atm,i dunno,i spose i'd welcome him back,cant see it happening tho :)

The source of that rumour is your head and desire to see Rafa back. You are making up your own rumour and i hope it never happens. Can't bear another Rafa tenure. God forbid!

BooDaBooze

You're smoking the GOOD stuff aren't you? Bet you'll meet Elvis soon!

My source is an ex youth coach at a premier league club.

An let's be honest if the previous owners hadn't pulled the plug on deals for silva an villa would we really be struggling for top 4!

PAULMONDO YNWA

I would love this to be one of the true rumours on this site.

Have to agree with yeah mate...rafa had to put up with a lot s##t from them cowboys..thing is we all called for his head after bad season...me included .i would take him back tomoz...

Rafa in charge with our new owners would win us the Premiership and the Champions League.
He was the only manager who could attract the worlds best players.

Strange I replied to the rumour above about Kenny, I didn't read any further to get to this one.

I would love to see the two involved together with the first team, Rafa is a good coach, he knows how to win matches. Kenny is just a great person to have around and a good manager.

I honestly believe 100% that if Rafa went to chelsea instead of Mourinho he would have done every bit as well. If Rafa was given the cash he would have delivered, yes he made a few bad signing but every top manager does. Examples:

He wanted - Dani Alves and Dirk Kuyt
Could only afford - Dirk Kuyt and Jermaine Pennant

He wanted - Sergio Aguero (before athletico)
Could only afford - Don't remember but I think it was the year we got bargain deals for Bellamy and Fowler

I could go on about villa, silva, vidic(?). There are loads, bring the man home he clearly wants his job back. Team him up with Kenny, don't let Houiller/Evans spoil the dream.

If kenny was prepared to step down and if rafa was available or if rafa could work with kenny we could be on to a good thing. lot of ifs though. rafa will always be a hero to me for telling wiskey nose where to get off

I respect rafa, for what hes done for the club and continues to do for the Hillsborough charity, but i dont think i would want him as manager again.

Talk about going around in circles!

I would love to see Rafa back, as far as tacticians go he is one of the best and that is Kenny's Achilles heel. Substitutions at the weekend reinforced this, trying to change a game and he throws on Kuyt and Downing, Shelvey must be wondering what he has to do .... would Rafa take the job is the question, the pressure to succeed would be relentless.

I would like KK to oversee everything at the whole club. Like a director of football but so much more.
The academy and youth set up is fine.
We have decent owners now.
The boardroom is sorted.
Bring back Rafa to solely be the first team manager/coach.
The selection panel that exists for transfers can be kept in place.
If he does come back it would have to be on him accepting he will never have or be able to try to take control of everything like he did before.
He ended up getting too involved with everything including the internal politics and in-fighting.

Just because Rafa wanted those players does not mean he would have got them and we'd now have a team of silva,ronaldo,vidic,alves etc.
most big clubs woukd have known about those players too not just rafa.

Also he wanted full control of all matters at the club, could he now work with Comoli? who the owners def wont be getting rid of..

Just a few points really, not sure how id feel about him coming back, but I wouldnt be suprised if he did in the future either, who knows?

Dodge

I specifically chose Alves and Aguero as players that Rafa wanted and could have had, so yes we could have those two in the team. The rest are maybe's but there are a lot of good maybes.

That's the only demonstrable skill I can see that Comolli has, persuading the money men to go for certain players. I don't see that he's noticeably better at unearthing talent than others. We should get Rafa back and hire a Comolli impersonator to do Rafa's bidding, ideal.

Anyways, Kenny is still the man, he deserves this season with 100% support at the very least.

Sorry to break some Benitez fans' hearts but it is a known fact that whilst FSG (under John Henry & Tom Werner) own Liverpool Football Club, they will NEVER allow Rafael Benitez to return to the helm as Manager of the club.
-keyser soze.

How easily all you rafa lovers forget his bad signings , his bad tactics and the defeats to reading home and away , if raa came back to manage i would give up watching football altogether , rafa is a dictator ,and i dont even think the owners of man city have enough money for rafa ,ecause no matter how much you gie rafa it will never be enough , and why was it so bad for rafa ,to work in the constraints of a little transfer war chest ,were other manager work with the same amount of money ,why should rafa have oe money than the arsenal manager or fergie , one thing i can say about moyes is that he has never come out crying about no money ,move on rafa has

That's balls Keyser Soze, Rafa could come back, and I for one would be delighted. Lack of boardroom support is all that led to Benitez's demise. With strong owners he could be the answer

To be honest i wouldnt mind that, kenny tactis are obv not working. We are struggling to score goals and have drawn far too many home games. Kenny somehow believes Carroll will score goals for us and that we are not in need of any strikers. Kenny needs to stop trying to cover up the mistake he did for buying Carroll never mind paying 35 mil for him. At least admit it was a mistake and then buy some decent players!

Let's be honest, even if John W. and Tom are prepared to endure the negative, banal football mindset of Benitez, how long do you think that they will endure his "back me or sack me" rants?

I'm getting confused by this Texiera business...
The signing of Joao seemed close, this week its David we're after... Or is it both?

Ryan 'O

I recon it is both! Joao carlos (sporting) is nearly finished from what I have read and should be announced soon.

David (groningen) is currently still in negotiation but should be wrapped up pretty soon!

Just what I make of what I have read!

JanBorman

We have already signed Joao Carlos Teixeira, it hasn't been announced because the club don't make a fuss of unknown youngsters.

David Texeira, of Groningen, is currently having a deal negotiated for him. He wants us, we want him, Groningen will sell but reports indicate that they also want a minor squad player in return (think someone like Eccleston).

Considering David's age and goalscoring record, he would more than likely go straight into the first team. Whereas Joao Carlos, in spite of the fact he's only a year David's junior, would start in the reserves with a view to him taking on a role similar to Shelvey's should he impress.

David has no 'i' before the 'x' - Texeira.
Joao Carlos has an 'i' before the 'x' - Teixeira.
Not that hard.

Martin

BigD its a rumour site, this is a rumour i have been told by a good source. if you dont like it thats fine with me. might not happen of course, but theres a chance it might if LFC are really asking about him.....Carlos

Fair point Carlos but there's too many posters on here posting utter bulls**t don't leave a name and claim too be in the know..
However it would make sense as there played together at Ajax and his goalscoring record speaks for itself.

BigD

Yea and he could go to spurs cause he's played with van der vaart @ madrid(?) And for their country holland or he could sign for arsenal as he would have played with van persie they've played togeather for holland

Wouldnt be a bad move him and suarez scored around a 100 goals between them in two seasons i heard

Are we saying that the source then is a mutual friend of Kenny, Damien, John W. and Tom?

Hey ed's, I've heard rumours lately regarding Liverpool in the market for a talented player from the south american continent...I found a link before which was talking about Liverpool close to agreeing a deal for David Texeira, however it also stated Liverpool are looking to sign Mauricio Isla of Udinese who is a Chilean international...do you know anything about this? Thanks YNWA {Ed002's Note - They have both been discussed at length.}

24 Jan 2012 11:37:25
Liverpool should have David Texeira and Milos Krasic
tied up by next week,expect a late push for Honda before the close of window.

GROBS
YNWA

GROBS i hope u are right, it would inject that much much needed pace and creativity in the team that is missing.

BigD

LOL! It is always next week...

BooDaBooze

I heard we will sign them at 23.59hrs on the 31st Jan but it was only the voices in my head telling me! {Ed002's Note - An hour after the window closes - seems unlikely.}

24 Jan 2012 11:21:32
The price tag of Shaqiri is Euro 30m. (as Ed say's) but is there any Bid from us of £15m . Galatasaray make a Euro 14m bid and looks like Basel is thinking about it. but yes accept Ed002 word may be we are not interested. I think everyone like to see Both Honda and Shaqiri in Liverpool.

R-R {Ed002's Note - Actually I said the price of Willian is 30M euro. I don't know of any interest in either player from Liverpool - but Willian is certainly available at the right price. If Shaqiri moves it will because of his wish to play for Galatasary rather than anything else - to me it makes no sense at this time.}

Those 2 players would make a bifg impact at the club, but i bet my house on it that Kenny buys someone that has not been mentioned on here just like he did with Carroll last day of the window and boom ...

Hi eds, just read on metro that we have begun talks with groningen for David Teixeira. Any truth?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - It may well be, but I don't have any confirmation that such talks are going on.}

I've read the same thing on a couple of sites now.
Fingers crossed there is something to it.

Hope so

Kuyt, Johnson,Maxi to leave in the summer, and possilbly Carroll depending on performances from now till the end of the season. 2 possible loan deals in this January window (Granero from Real and Luc Castaignos from Inter). Tiote, Klasic, Scott Sinclair and Zaha all targets in the summer transfer window. Kenny after some pacey wingers and cover for Lucas incase he makes a slow recovery from his Knee injury.

Note, Summer Transfer, CARROLL may return to Newcastle and Tiote moving in the opposite direction in a player plus cash deal. Its apparently up to Carroll to prove his worth from now till the end of the season.

This information is from a former Liverpool player who still has a strong relationship with the club. Cant be named for obvious reason

Is the obvious reason that this is complete garbage?

24 Jan 2012 11:02:36
firstly i thought this was a rumours site not a " what do you think ed " and " this isnt actually a rumour but" , anyway to the point of this whole page david texeira will sign friday and it will be announced sat ,Esteban Granero deal(s) has been agreed and the balls in liverpools court as to a buy now or loan now buy later , suarez is going nowhere , this from a work friend whos mates with roy evans , true or not ? i dont know but its what i have heard and is a RUMOUR
MIKE D

I totally agree with your sentiment. Does my head in with "what do you think ed" or "can you rate the chances of ed" Give me some solid rumours any day.

Same here

I hope this post is 100% true as I think for the time being these 2 players could fire as into the CL and both have great futures at anfield and help bring us back on our perch
MjIreland

"solid rumours" or lack of, would suggest that we are not going to sign anyone this window.

24 Jan 2012 11:01:45
According to Guillem Balague, Granero had an offer from an english team , not Liverpool, on the day that Mourinho persuaded him to stay {Ed002's Note - The offer was from Blackburn Rovers. Again, regulars will know that this is not new information that Balague is sharing: "Surplus to long-term requirements in Madrid but may be needed to provide cover through to the summer. Granero could interest any number of clubs and may be used as a makeweight in a transfer. Only solid interest at this time has been from Blackburn Rovers and Sevilla but unsubstantiated rumours have linked him to Liverpool and Espanyol as well."}

Shahin and Khedira injured I don't think Real let him go in January.

Hi Ed , why don't we try and bring back Michael Owen ? We will get him for cheap and he is a proven goalscorer . At least then KK wont be feeling like he is breaking the bank and it can serve as a short term solution until the end of the season

Cause he's a chap who ran down his contract an only got us 8 million when we could have had about 25 for him {Ed002's Note -

He is one of my favourite players, he is quality.
He is on the treatment table rather than on the pitch these days, so it would be too big a risk taking an injury prone player. Also in 30s, doesn't fit FSG policy.
Very few players cross over, but none come back after crossing over.
YNWA

Same reason we won't be signing Torres back. Always felt he never gave Benitez a chance and wanted to persue is own international selfish desire. (result- got injured playing for England and missed out on a Champions League winning medal.)

Why not sign him? Well, because he was an over-hyped self-obsessed ENGLAND player who had no loyalty to our club. Finished once his hamstring went, and he's limped on ever since.
We had his best days out've him.
FACT

Get him inn on free transfer, on a pay as you play type of contract maybe i would consider him. otherwise. piss off

Because he's a crock and a greedy crock who wanted to play for a "Big Club" not Liverpool!

Reasons:fragile,ex mancy spew,left us to go to the biggest team in the world[won nothing] and cares about england more than club.

He is tainted now, injured and a money grabber wide berth please

What would he provide other than companionship for lucas at the treatment table?

Are there any other disloyal, broken down rejects from other clubs that you would like us to buy? Our transfer policy has been very hit and miss over the last few seasons, but thank f**k you have no input into it.

Hi Eds and Macca

A quick question more than anything ..... Why are we so eager to sell Johnson? In my opinion he is a decent right back that gives us attacking options down the right wing. I think what is actually needed is a strong right winger who has the pace to take on defenders and whip in crosses for our forwards to connect with (Just like old style football). With this type of winger it would allow Johnson to either overlap with him on the wing or sit back and defend knowing that the winger would do the crossing. As seen on the left flank now Downing is there.

Surely our defence is not the problem with the team, its the forwards that need looking at.

Interested in what you, Macca and the readers think

Ps. looks like I was right about the stadium (My prev post) with an official press release coming very soon.
As per my prev post we will make a signing or two during this window and deals will be agreed with three or four summer moves.

Markiemagoo72 {Ed002's Note - As I said I don't see Johnson leaving this week, but in the summer. Although if he visited this site over the weekend and saw what the fans thought of him perhaps that will change.}

Um...why sell Johnson!?!? Perhaps because he is utterly shambolic as a defender who does not look one bit interested in playing for LFC as evidenced perfectly on the weekend. His crossing is also less than average whcih makes his attacking qualities less relevant. Kelly is a much more able and solid right back with a far better attitude. You say we do not need to focus on defence but against Bolton I would suggest that we REALLY need to focus on defence. That said, Johnson would be the only change I would make at this stage. We also need to look at forwards but the whole team needs a shake up. Adam, Henderson, Carroll - all very weak.

From my POV I see Johnson as a right winger prospect, and Kelly/Flanno as the first choice right backs. They have the defending skills that is required, and Johnson is probably better than Henderson and Kuyt on the wing. Johnson has proven himself both in the crossing department, and taking on defenders 1 on 1.

Your kidding me right your blaming johnson for the goals in the weekend.Cause it hadt nonthing to do with the rest of the D, ie to CB's letting players run at them.

Not in the know or anything as such, but from what I can gather so far I expect the following to happen:

January 2012:

David Texeira and Luc Castaignos -
I firmly believe LFC are in the midst of negotiating for both these players, and if all goes to plan both or at least one of them will be signed. Texeira would be on a permanent transfer while Luc will be on a loan to buy during the summer. Personally, I hope both come in if anything to put pressure on big Andy and little Luis, and to give the team some added threats.

Milos Krasic -
I believe LFC have been offered Krasic by his agent, but the club has not made any offer as yet. An outside possibility, but I think LFC could make a loan to buy offer as we are certainly on the hunt for a right winger.

Keisuke Honda -
LFC have had firm interest in the player in the PAST, and with him currently being available and his move to Lazio stalling, I won't be surprised if LFC make an offer imminently. Honda will certainly bring a whole lot of creativity which we are desperately lacking. Personally, I hope a move for Honda to LFC happens.

Coutinho -
LFC have been watching him and have been very interested since last season. Depending on Inter's willingness to sell or loan him, expect Coutinho to arrive either in January or the Summer. I personally think Inter will only let go or loan either Castaignos or Coutinho and not both.

In summary, expect to see Texeira and/or Castaignos to be signed, and hopefully one of the 3 midfielders above. I think there will be at least 1 striker and at most 3 signings (the 2 strikers and 1 midfielder) in January. And don't expect any signings which will cost more than 15 million pounds max.

Summer 2012:

I believe the Summer is the time we can expect to see frenetic activity at LFC. Not unlike last Summer, depending on UCL qualification significant improvements to the squad will be made. Personally, I think the following players will be leaving with probable replacements as below:

Fabio Aurelio - Jack Robinson to be 2nd choice LB, or Jack to be loaned with an experienced and cheap, preferably Bosman transfer to be brought in to cover both LB and CB. My personal choice is Cristian Chivu on a free transfer.

Maxi Rodriguez - Junior Hoilett on a free transfer.

Dirk Kuyt - Luuk De Jong. Although nothing is ever certain in football, I believe this is a dead cert to happen in the Summer.

Glen Johnson- I'm not desperate for Glen to leave as I think he's a decent RB, but probably not world class and certainly does not justify being one of the best paid players in the team. I think both Micah Richards and Kyle Walker have been better than Glen this season, and it's not a good idea to pay 90,000 pounds per week for the 3rd best RB in the league, particularly with Kelly and Flanagan in the frame. I believe Glen will be sold with a replacement sought from the following:
Mauricio Isla (my personal favourite. He's extremely versatile and just a beast of a player)
Samuel Inkoom
Cesar Azpilicueta

Jay Spearing - Moussa Sissoko. I've been very impressed with Jay, both at the back end of last season and this season. I do believe he won't be sold and will be retained. But if any of our current central midfielders are to be sold, I think Jay is the most likely and I would like to see Sissoko brought in. An upgrade in midfield if you like, as I think we are crying out for abit of physical presence in the centre of the park. Forget M'Vila who will be ridiculously expensive and has better options to him. If any central midfielders are bought, it will be either Sissoko or James McCarthy at a long shot.

Alberto Aquilani, Joe Cole, David Amoo, Nathan Eccleston, Stephen Darby - I believe all of them will be sold or let go, and no direct replacements are needed. Good luck to all of them, it just did not work out for them at LFC one way or another.

I believe if there is an opportunity to sign a top class striker ie. expensive, LFC will sign one striker in the Summer. Candidates for this will be from the following:
Roberto Soldado (my personal favourite)
Fernando Llorente
Lukas Podolski
Robert Lewandowski

In addition, I believe one more versatile attacker will be signed. Candidates will probably be from the following:
Mesut Ozil (my personal favourite)
Shinji Kagawa
Ryad Boudebouz
Scott Sinclair

I hope the above summary would be at least informative, and at most be a mini guide to our transfer activity for this January and the Summer. I reiterate that I have no inside info, and the above are just my personal opinion and thoughts. It would be good to check back on this post at the end of January and during the Summer =) By the way EDs, please post this under Rumours rather than Banter. Hopefully it will lessen the posts from people asking for Hazard, M'Vila, Cavani and Fernando F***ing Torres.

Litmanen

What an imagination?

Not knocking you mate but that won't happen!

Ricky Van Wolfswinkel is the ideal forward for us.
kidmillions

I would love this to happen..... But i dont think so.

So this isnt inside info? Just your opinion, that you hope will stop people having their own opinion?? You are an idiot!!

Great post mate. I only wish you were Kenny, as I would love to see your predications come true. Would be a very strong squad. Of all these players, I hope Honda comes in January. What a boost he would be to the team and fans

^ no offence as i don't know the guy, but i'm assuming if he was kenny, Liverpool would have had a very different past.
x

Your OPINION means f@@k all, if every fan posted there opinions on this page it would be a "liverpool opion site" not a rumour site.
Sort your "ED" out Litmanen.

Been good to look inside the head of another fan, and see it's rather like mine. thank you for your opinion and keep posting.

Jace

You open your post with the line "not in the know or anything as such, but from what I can gather so far I expect the following to happen". You then continue "I firmly believe"... surely these two statements conflict with each other?

I'm not knocking you for having an opinion but if you "firmly believe" which targets we are actively after, what are you basing it on if you have no inside info?

Hi ed/s i recently posted about G.Johnson leaving. Makes absolute sense that we're moving him on, I rate Kelly higher than him anyway.

Just a couple of questions. You said a few clubs have expressed their interest in him. Any idea as to who?

Considering we bought Johnson for around £17mil, how much would we be looking to shift him for? He's an attacking RB and regular international starter, so I'd expect him to fetch around the same price. No?

Cheers, once again. {Ed002's Note - I don't really see GJ leaving this month, it will be much more likely he would move in the summer. I cannot speculate on price, but he will no doubt have options in both England and Spain when he leaves. Whilst there was past interest from Real Madrid I think that has now gone.}

Oh i know that you was referring to the summer. Yeah, i heard about the RM interest a while back, time we pulled someone elses pants down with a fee! haha

Cheers eds

Dont wanna see him go,why not play him wide right with Kelly behind him,people go on about wide men(or lack of) he would fit the bill perfect,loves bombing on,with kelly behind him,would not need to get back quite so fast/urgently !!

Liverpool are in for Clint Dempsey at £9.5m. J Henry has pushed for the move as it allows US based marketing opportunity as well as signing a decent player with some creativity and aggression - something LFC have been missing for a long time. MelwoodSquirrel

Wake up your dreaming,fulham would'nt sell for anyless than 15m

Liverpool FC and marketing.
I wonder if we'll ever see Liverpool FC associated with anything else...

Accepting the outrageous Luis ban... marketing
Signing crap American players... marketing..
Reason for buying the club... marketing
etc etc

Would rather have Dempsey in the team than Henderson or Adam at the moment.

If we have Kenny, DC and john henry slecting players fore the team god help us.

"Accepting the outrageous Luis ban" . . . what exactly were you expecting LFC to do? "Refuse" the ban and field him? Get a grip.

It makes perfect sense to sign Dempsey. He is ten times better than Carroll.

I've been saying for 2 years that this guy would be a great addition to the Liverpool team, irrespective of his hat trick at the weekend. He's a class player, we should bring him in

So if he wasn't American we wouldn't be interested? Also why would Fulham sell him for under Ł10 mill half way through the season? Squirrels and nuts go together!

I also agree that he would be more useful than some of the other attacking options we have at the moment. Given his hunger to score and very competitive spirit he would certainly be a good player to have in the 18 yard box. Although cynics might say that anyone in the box would be a good start!

I love this site but this window it has been dire. Nobody seems to no anything, No confirmed real interest in anything or anyone. Nothing against the eds but i have to admit i'm a little bored of reading "No Interest from us". What the hell is going on the reason for this window is to stregthen to say we dont need it is ridiculous.

You're an idiot. Criticise the club if we've not signed anyone by the end of the window if you like but don't criticise the eds. Would you rather they make stuff up?!

Kieran.

Maybe that's because the club are not particularly interested in signing anyone in January.

I hope this isn't the case, because I think we really do need either a good striker or CAM. Either way, I have faith in our current squad even after the defeat to Bolton. All of the major teams have suffered quite embarrassing defeats this year. Arsenal 2-8 United, Man City 0-1 Sunderland, Man United 2-3 Blackburn.

I think if anyone can rally the troops, it is Kenny. We also haven't seen Suarez team up with Gerrard and Bellamy too frequently yet. I think there is promise there.

RuncornRed.

Do you think the club should spend 100M every transfer window and if so where do you think the money will come from?

Henry aint that wealthy , when will some of you get the message?

Is it not because Dalglish has always maintained that transfer dealings will always be done in-house and when they have something to tell the supporters, they will do it when everything is signed and sealed. This is the 'old' liverpool way and although it can sometimes be a little frustrating, surely it is the best and most respectful way to go about our business.

I agree, very little to absolutely nothing can ever be confirmed. You guys should put a probability indicator on all possible moves and rumours. This would really judge your credibility!! Do it or risk losing followers!!

I agree. Very frustrating. Especially when we are a young van nistelroy away from challenging

Hi eds, not a rumour but do you know of any interest in matias suarez (anderlecht in belgium)?

He is probably being looked at by multiple clubs after being topscorer in the EL.

I know he expressed his desire to remain at anderlecht for the rest of this season but was just wondering if you knew anything about liverpool maybe scouting/watching him?

Thanks!

JanBorman {Ed002's Note - Arsenal have certainly shown an interest in Matias Suarez and no doubt other clubs will be well aware of his capabilities. I don't know that Liverpool have shown specific interest in the player.}

Thanks! He plays for the team I support in my country and I like his style. He scores goals and is not afraid to run with the ball.

Would be a good player in the EPL imo. Then again Jovanovic also plays for anderlecht and is a real superstar there, but in the EPL he never cut it (although he did not really get a fair chance).

I would like to see him at LFC but thats just me wishful thinking :)

Liverpool's new transfer target

Liverpool are in talks with Real Madrid over signing Real Madrid attacking midfielder Esteban Granero.

Boss Kenny Dalglish has explored the prospect of taking Granero on loan until the end of the season as he look to add some cover for his depleted strikeforce.

Granero can play wide or as a second striker, and he has been on the Anfield radar for some time.

The 24-year-old, who has played for Spain up to Under-21 level but not for the senior side, has also been linked with Arsenal, but Dalglish is hoping to arrange a short-term loan.

Granero has struggled to make an impact at the Bernabeu this season, making just four appearances under coach Jose Mourinho.

The Spanish giants are hoping to sell him in what remains of the January window but so far there have been no takers, which has encouraged the Reds to believe they can thrash out an agreement.

Dalglish will have Luis Suarez back from his eight-match ban next week, but is still concerned about his resources at the sharp end.

Liverpool have managed just 25 league goals this season, making them one of the lowest scoring teams in the top flight.

The Reds boss has said there will be no spending in this transfer window, but concern at the lack of goals has prompted the club to turn to the loan market.

While Real are resistant to the idea of a temporary agreement, they may be persuaded if there is a prospect of a permanent deal at the end of it.

Dalglish has ruled out a move for Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic, and there is little Anfield interest in Juventus winger Milos Krasic, but after a recent depressing run of league results, the club recognises the need to bring in attacking cover.

The club has also been tracking Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila, but are unlikely to make a move until the summer.

Daily Mirror

@nbstw

I wouldn't take to much stock in what the tabloids say the Daily Mirrors got more fiction than a superman comic! Even though this has just summarised what has been about for a while, but if any of this does happen they will say they were the first to break the news.

Granero would be a bad purchase if it turns out to be true. Is not going to bring a higher pedigree than what we already have and is therefore a waste of money - hope this one does not materialise.

Krasic would be a shrewd purchase in my opinion but i don't see the move happening before the summer if at all.

SMc

It was all going so well, then you mentioned The Daily Mirror!

Quote...Dalglish has ruled out a move for Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic, and there is little Anfield interest in Juventus winger Milos Krasic, but after a recent depressing run of league results, the club recognises the need to bring in attacking cover.

If theyre looking, i would have thought it would be 1st teamers rather than cover

hi eds

just a quick question to you. do u think that liverpool will really consider selling suarez as reported on give me football?

its abit of a worry for me...........another january drama for us????

{Ed002's Note - THis has been discussed at length already. Please read the other posts.}

Just read the article ... what a complete non-story that is. Just speculation & guesswork on a stuff thats already been said.

Liverpool have Good Chance to Land player like Sahqiri, Willian as this year they can't Play CL with other team. like AVB say's they Bid high price to some one who can play CL this year. Liverpool don't have that problem. but our management slow or confuse ?

R-R {Ed002's Note - Or not interested?}

Why would they not be interested?? {Ed002's Note - As an alternate tro the poster who accussed them of being "slow or confused". Willian is available - the price is 30M euro. Have Liverpool shown any interest?}

Slow or confused the Both Word may be rude. but I feel our management is 'slow or confused' we don't have a English CEO to deal with FA and all other matters.

R-R {Ed002's Note - Nobody is accusing you of being rude. The CEO not being English is irrelevant - what dealings with the FA are you thinking of?}

Alexandre pato to sign for Liverpool within the next week.
Milan are trying to sign tevez but already have a deal with lopez agreed if tevez deal falls through to replace pato.
Pato not happy at Milan after they agreed deal with psg which collapsed earlier this month.
Lucas is best mates with pato and has returned to liverpool early to help pato settle in.

Red 80

If that is true then I'm the pope.

I really hope they do would be great , but i dont see him giving up cl football

Lucas returned early to help Pato settle in? Hilarious!!

Why don't you tweet Lucas and ask him to ask his pal to join us will be great signing.
I will tweet Honda and the eds will tweet D Texeiri and Krasic

Thanks
AWS

Nice thought.
CR

Pato out for 4 weeks... Thanks for the laugh anyways...

Out for 4 weeks, 2 by deadline day with thigh strain wont stop him signing, hardly career threatening, remember aqua and Carroll signed when injured.

Hi Eds.
Sorry for asking this, I know its not a Liverpool related question, but maybe you can help anyway.
Watched the Arsenal VS Manc game, noticed Arsenal players logo on kit shirt was a little different to that on Arsene Wengers jacket top, just thought it odd. Any ideas.
Thanks. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea - try asking on the Arsenal page - they may be able to help.}

Hi
if KK wants British talents... what about N.Dyer(pace,always beat opponent on one to one, can create space for suarez, gerrard etc plus will learn from them as well as Kk and Clarke ..on end product) Leon Britton (stats says more pass than Xavi on Canal plus >>The Specialists, can drive our midfield in place of adam, always on the move, will suit our pass and move philosophy. unknown now but in future will be great if goes to a bigger club, and the plus is he makes others play) .Im sure if we got those two we will be very very dangerous compared to the present team. W`nt cost too much what will we lose after all?
sell Maxi, kuyt, Aquilani, Aurelio,

Just an opinion
from Mauritius
Budashow

Its all good and well wanting young british talent, but 'A' it expensive, 'B' it not world class (Potential YES), 'C' we need it now.

No offence to Swansea fans but we shouldn't be looking at their players Leon Britton has had 1/2 a decent season. Why does that make him good enough for Liverpool?

24 Jan 2012 06:23:59
Wigan are attempting to sign nicky maynard from bristol city for £2.2m.
Would be a snip at that price for us!
Red Lee

He's not scoring for bristol city so why are we goingto waste money on him

He's an out and out goal scorer, and forŁ2.2 million could well be worth a punt.
Its not always about the Premier League and foriegn players are always the answer!

24 Jan 2012 05:52:14
Luciano Narsingh is the answer to our right wing. And i already can tell Joe Allen is the new Gerrard. We need a striker soon though. Eds? Any news on why exactly the owners are here? Great site btw. I have it programmed on my phone. Check it everyday {Ed002's Note - I would not read anything in to the owners being here.}

Joe Allen is a good young player, but is very dissimilar to Gerrard. He's not as yet in the same league.

24 Jan 2012 03:59:56
Hi,
We should sign Honda. Every player that has quick feet has progressed well in the prem, unlike Carroll and Adam.
Will Granero just be another Aquilani? If his feet are quick enough, he would be perfect next to Stevie G.
What is our current solution for right back if Johnson is on his way out? Is Kelly ready to make the move to full time first team football?

As I said, Honda to Liverpool, and Granero on a big question mark, but Texiera deal to be wrapped up within a day!

Not every player with fast feet has done well in england, thats a ridiculous claim. if you mean just players who are fast then the list is to big to make, if you mean full of tricks then theres hundreds. babel wasnt a success and he apparently had both.

Honda will not join Liverpool that is a fact

Souness

Seems a bit strange its widely accepted here than Johnson is moving on despite him being preferred ahead of his mooted replacement,Kelly week in week out.

24 Jan 2012 00:32:38
I think Honda would be a great buy for us considering his huge market value Asia, considering the new agreement with Warrior sports. {Ed002's Note - His "market value" in Asia may help Warrior but not Liverpool. As a player he would be a good buy but Liverpool have passed on him already.}

Personally imo, kagawa would be a better signing for liverpool anyway, at 22 years young he fits the liverpool tranxfer remit, is fast becoming the new japanise darling, a move to a higher profile club would be beneficial to all. But again unlikely to move until the summer, unless dortmund decide to make a quick but substantial profit.

Ed, you are wrong. Liverpool can generate their own revenue by selling unnamed merchandise which they cannot do that with adidas. {Ed002's Note - I rather think you have misinterpreted the statement that was made about the "non branded" items. I assume that you think these are bobble-head dolls of Honda that Liverpool could sell in Japan - and sure Liverpool could do that as long as he was not in kit. What Liverpool have is actually a much better revenue stream that they are already one of the market leaders in - DVDs of past glories. It is seen as one of the areas which the club can grow further and it is these type of products the club will be looking to exploit.}

Editor, why you keep saying shirt sales doesnt bring investment in a club. Are you sure? Readers on this site come for football but in real life we are entrepreneur. {Ed002's Note - I don't keep saying it does not bring investment, what I do is correct those who think that the money from shirt sales goes to the club - it doesn't.}

He is better than the 2 midfielders we have now adam and henderson.

Ed002 is always right - get used to it {Ed002's Note - Post of the day.}

The eds will not like this one but just wanted to point out that david texeira and cavani have the same agent. Could possibly help us get cavani if all goes well with texeira.
Jayo {Ed002's Note - No. Cavani will not be joining Liverpool any time soon.}

We want Texeira from the dutch league but y not BAS DOST.
-22yrs old very young
-29 goals 50 games Fantastic record especially so young.
-5 goals 10 games Holland U21 very good.

Think epic goalscorer scord all 5 in one match in a club game once. Young too.

Jordan rodes also scord 5 in one game and also has a couple of hatrcks , and hes just as young as this lad ,

Ive mentioned him a couple times before think he would be an excellent signing but don't know if there is interest

Square tomato

I wud think the dutch league is lot stronger then league 1 lool.
Plus bas dost is playin for a weaker side in the league.
I think rhodes is a gud to. defo for championship maybe in PL. look at Chamberlain he came straight frm league 1.

We will enquire about him in 10 years when our striker is injured.

It's becoming more and more evident that LFC are unlikely to buy anyone in the transfer window and if that happens a lot of people will look at John Henry and FSG and begin to realize they haven't got anywhere near enough money to compete in the Premiership and I wouldn't surprised if LFC are already cash cow for FSG's other franchises particularly baseball. I'm glad Hicks and Gillett are gone but there's something a bit iffy about FSG I don't entirely trust them. And let's get this straight, FSG have not invested 100 million in players. After the sales of Torres and Babel it's a lot less than 100 million. FSG are very happy for the thick fans to believe they have invested heavily in players but it's not true and they know it.

Just checked this guy out on youtube, and I agree not bad finisher but to be honest the deleiver of the ball in to him is what is making him such a prolific scorer. give any decent striker that kind of service and your half way there.

That is a terribly average goal scoring record in the dutch league, kuyt scored 71 in 101 games and he is hardly prolific.

Hi Ed, I see we're being linked with Mauricio Isla. I don't really watch much Serie A, and clearly it's no longer the force it once was. I know very little about him, I've read that he is very good at attacking, versatile and good in a pass and move system, but how good is he defensively? With Johnson likely to go in the summer, his main drawback on the field is his defensive ability (personally I think he's better at defending than he's made out to be), so would Isla be a similar player; good going forward, lacking in defense, or is he a good defender? If I get an answer, thanks. {Ed002's Note - He is a good old fashioned right sided wing back.}

Ed do you think we will sign Udinese fullback Mauricio Isla this window? {Ed002's Note - No, I think it unlikely.}

reports from dailymail liverpool want granero on loan,

What I don't understand is why we would take the risk of not being able to get Granero in this window due to wanting to have him on loan?
He looks like he can finish, is well balanced on his feet and quick.
I am concerned that it really doesn't matter who we have up front if they aren't serviced well through our midfield.
Unfortunately Adam hasn't stepped up to the plate in DM, I would welcome back Spearing in his place, after the last few games Adam deserves to watch for a while.
