Does anyone know if there's any truth in these Yarmalenko stories? Not sure if it's just recycled news or we are actually in discussions.

Think he'd be a good signing if we did land him. From what I've seen he'd work well with both Suarez and Sturridge.

Believable25 Unbelievable69

Id love yarmalenko but sadly I don't think were actually going to sign anyone in this window

Agree7 Disagree1

I don't know how much truth their is in it but the reason why LFC have not gone any higher in their bids is that not that do not have it, but are limited by the FFP rules and are at the limit of their spend approx £8-10 million

Agree2 Disagree5

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has so far ignored the FFP rules.}

Well, I wouldn't mind us bending the FFP rules a bit if it meant we would get Yarmolenko. It might very well be that the Mancs and the Chavs are now compliant with FFP rulings, but together with other fantasilion financed clubs across Europe their escapades in the transfer market was the reason that the rulings were instilled in the first place. Now that the oil and gas financed teams got their squads in place they have no problem obiding by the rules. The system apparently works as such that you cannot spend more than you earn which basically means that if you are succesful as of this moment you can spend a lot more than the not so succesful. Why not install a transfer fund cap instead? I know, it would be impossible, but I like the principle behind it and I'm getting pretty tired of watching man c spend 100m every summer.

Agree2 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - You have no grasp of the rules at all.}

Claiming that I don't have any grasp of the rulings is easy, explaining them is a lot harder, I suppose. Please, if you can find time for it, do enlighten me and anyone else whom you so easily dismiss.

Agree5 Disagree6

{Ed001's Note - he already has done so in the past. Try doing a search for it. Oh and try and stop being such a condescending knob and you might have more chance of people bothering to make an effort for you.}

A one liner claiming me to "have no grasp of the rules at all" is hardly an effort, never mind polite. And quite condescending in itself, wouldn't you say?

Man City's economy is to an extent based on FFP rules circumvention, Etihad Campus naming rights which saw them land a deal of at least £340m over 10 years, more than double the previous record set by Madison Square Garden. It is unrealistic to believe that the Man City brand is strong enough to justify such a sponsorship. How is it even possible for an airline company that has never been profitable to commit to such a deal? Conveniently, the sponsorship included 210 acres surrounding the stadium which will hold all sorts of business activities not directly connected to footballing business therefore not counted against FFP rulings - but future income from these activities will count therefore City gain a massive competitive edge. That's circumvention if there ever was one.

Agree0 Disagree4

{Ed002's Note - We have no interest in discussing finances here because it causes so much confusion. You don't understand what happened in this particular case where the Counsel of Europe concluded the transaction to be beyond the intent of the rules leading UEFA to exclude self-sponsorship from the calculations. Manchester City are therefore one of the two EPL clubs who have failed the FFP test for each of the three of data gathering.}

for ChristianE, I think if u search "FFP" alone u can find it, once u go into search of FFP u go ctrl + FSG and put in "Ed02" till u find it, correct me if i'm wrong Ed02, been awhile since I read it.

Ed02, just wanted to know whether you saw salah going to Chelsea or whether that ( and the Mata deal) was a surprise to you. Cheers

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Mata was no great surprise, of the three interested clubs MU always were the likely destination if they came up with an acceptable fee. Chelsea had spoken with Basel after the Stamford Bridge match about Salah. The spoke again after interest was shown by another team recently and a deal was negotiated.}

25 Jan 2014 15:55:38
Ok, Ed02, thanks for taking the time to clear that out, much appreciated. Have a good weekend, both of you.

Eds, regarding Yarmalenko, you said we looked at him previously but how long ago was it please? Do you know or think that we will look at him again now in January or is it getting too late to make a move. Was he regarded high on the list of possibilities?

Believable10 Unbelievable18

{Ed001's Note - we looked at him last season and have had him watched again this season. Though I believe it was all the same season there, with them having a summer season, if I remember correctly.}

Please no, this is another Alberto if ever I've seen it. He's even got the comparable neck.

Agree1 Disagree2

He is good
Not sure why we are focusing on that position though.
We have some great players coming through in that same position, Stirling, Ibe, Canos, Wilson, Ojo & Peterson.
Its defensive Mid we need and quality such as Fernando of Porto
If we did not buy 2 x £12m players who are only fringe type and bought one at £24m for first team, that would be better option.
What do you think Ed001?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - depends on the players, Medel cost £11m and would have been straight into the team. Carroll cost £35m and isn't good enough to be considered a fringe player. It is not as simple as you are making it sound.}

24 Jan 2014 17:37:55
Eds, should we forget about the salah deal now or is there still a small chance of getting him?

Believable23 Unbelievable41

{Ed001's Note - forget it.}

Look she's left you, the wardrobes empty, she won't answer your calls, cancel the joint bank account and move the **** on

Agree4 Disagree3

Such a shame, he can't be worse than Luis. So much talent and what we need.

Could still happen, Liverpool wanted Willian, Spurs stepped in and were about to sign him, Chelsea stepped in whilst Willian was in the bogs waiting to have his Spurs medical. rubbish happens, rubbish could happen to the Special sh!t too I hope!

Agree1 Disagree2

BR made a embarrassed himself with that comment today. Honestly can't believe that he said that, sounded desperate and made the club look amateurish. oh wait.

Agree0 Disagree1

We do seem to take our time over transfer and it looks like we miss out on a few because of it, but at the end of the season if we are in the top four then it will not matter, if we are not and failed to strengthen the team then it will be a worry but only time will tell, the board obviously have a limit they will go to in there valuation of players and stick to it.

Sunderland enquire bout ever banega would we be interested or does the lad have attitude problems

Believable8 Unbelievable14

{Ed001's Note - he has been in a fair bit of trouble off the field, it has cost him his place in their team. They want rid and there is very little interest, none from us, so far anyway.}

24 Jan 2014 16:56:27
Hi eds, first time poster, not necessarily a transfer rumour as such but with Michael Essiens pending transfer to Milan do you think that will pave the way for Liverpool to bid for De Jong? Also in regards to Brendans comments regarding Salah do in your opinions think this is far from over? Thanks

Believable6 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - I don't see it as related - there is nothing stopping Liverpool bidding for De Jong now.}

But that would end milan's interest in fernando right?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Napoli, Inter and Fiorentina were the Italain clubs with an interest.

De Jong will defo not join Liverpool Essien was signed as they needed more midfielders not less

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Jan 2014 12:24:24
Eds any interest in Coutinho's buddy Lucas Moura? At 21 has amazing skill, electric pace and can play on the right. Might be worth a cheeky punt? Why not? FSG did say they can compete with anyone in the transfer market and would be a massive statement of intent!

Believable5 Unbelievable24

{Ed002's Note - Not from Liverpool. I have dealt with the FSG misquotes in the past. Let's not open that wound up again.}

Who is the interest from Ed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Moura was looking to return to Sao Paulo on loan and there was a deal tabled that might well of suited all three parties - although PSG were not so sure it will suit them as discussions have dragged on and they want to wait until the summer to re-assess the situation. The player has been told to knuckle down. Juventus, Inter and Manchester United have a decalred interest if he becomes available.}

Just a quick question. Would some posters on here "take a chance" or place "a sneaky bid", often in the region of £5m-£10m if it was your own money you were dealing with. As much as we all love LFC, we have to understand that this is a business to FSG. They, unlike most of is haven't grown up loving our great club. I wish we could outbid & gazzump other clubs bids but the reality is that we can't or at least won't until we achieve top 4, which will be done financially minded. I'd love to se falcao, Ronaldo, messi etc, playing with the liver bird on their chests, but FSG won't allow another Leeds situation to happen. Finally, as much as a lot of people on here hate them, things at our club might have been a whole lot worse only for FSG (look at rangers in Scotland). Sorry for the essay. C'mon the pool

Agree11 Disagree0

Please Chris, have you not worked out yet that the Werner gob 'compete with anyone in the transfer market', has to be the laugh of the century.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - He did not say anything of the sort. Mass misinformation.}

We court a target for 3 months and then get blown out of the water at £11mill. This Salah ticks all the so called FSG criteria yet after comprehensive scouting we don't get him because of competition from Chelsea. We only end up with players other teams don't want. Hence why half of them sit on the bench and the other half get farmed out on loan. The balance sheet and asset value determine who we can have and it's clearly the 5-8 million market unless Rodgers sells to add to the kitty.

Agree2 Disagree2

"We only end up with players other teams don't want."

You said it yourself, Ozone. What is Liverpool Football Club supposed to do against the likes of Chelsea if they want a player? Do we have CL to offer? Can we pay the sorts of wages they can? No to both. If we're competing against the likes of Chelsea, United, Arsenal, BVB, Bayern for a player's signature it is always going to be a very, very tough sale and you can't blame FSG or BR for that, really.

Agree3 Disagree1

Lol we can compete against anyone as long as we run unopposed.

Have we shown any interest in Momo Sissoko? Athletic CDM and a free agent, could surely do a job even as a squad player?

Believable7 Unbelievable13

{Ed002's Note - No, he has been talking with two clubs - neither of which is Liverpool.}

Would you mind saying which clubs ed?
Cheers

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Crystal Palace and Al Sadd.}

Rodgers said on this morning he wants players who can come straight in so I think we have to discount these 'do a job' players. That is not what we can afford to do.

Agree1 Disagree0

eds any interest in Fredy Guarin? available at a decent price plus we are in need of a strong central midfielder!

Believable2 Unbelievable15

{Ed002's Note - Not from Liverpool.}

No interest from Liverpool. What the hell are the Liverpool board doing? Gutted

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Jan 2014 09:22:07
Hi Eds, are we scouting Jordy Classie - he is a good player and fits in the Liverpool's young and hungry mould. Thanks in advance

Believable9 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Feyenoord's Clasie remains a target for Fiorentina and Benfica but a January move is very unlikely.}

24 Jan 2014 07:52:35
Any chance of player swap between ever banega (valencia) with aspas(Liverpool). I think that's what we need now

Believable6 Unbelievable31

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn't think there is any chance at all.}

24 Jan 2014 11:06:24
I disagree with Ed, Aspas is really well thought of in Spain and if we were interested in banega, I think there would be a real chance. Valencia want Aspas!

Interesting!

Agree1 Disagree2

Eds, is it true Banega is available this window? i'm hearing possibly for less than £10mil? Any truth?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There has been a bid or two already and I expect that there will be a bid from a couple of other clubs as well. There has been no contact from Liverpool at this time.}

Eds, are we talking less than £10mil? If so, why the hell are we not interested?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool cannot be interested in every player who might be available.}

Eds, I understand we can't be involved in every player that available but it just seems to me that he suits the bill of the type of player we need and in a position we need filled. I mean how many Argentine international midfielders become available at a good price at a time when we NEED a deep lying midfielder? Thanks for answering so quick previously.

Agree2 Disagree0

Well, if we cannot count on getting our main targets we should cast the net on a wider scale alternative targets ect? Hopefully this is done by the club, fingers crossed. lol

Hi eds,
I am just wondering what the situation is with Toby alderwield? I have heard he is unhappy at atletico and wants to move! Could Liverpool look to him or even get him as he can play as either a cb or rb!
Thanks in advance! Hope to hear back

Believable11 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - no current interest from us, though he is making noises about leaving, purely to try and get his World Cup place, as he is not playing. Atletico are not keen to let him go, either on loan or permanent, as they want to push on and give it their best shot at the title. I think his situation is probably going on a bit longer, until he is given assurances of some first team football or forces his way out. The team that has shown real interest in him is Southampton, they are very keen on a loan for him, with the injury to Lovren.}

24 Jan 2014 00:04:58
Hi Ed I'm hearing that we didn't make a offer for Salah and if we was going to make one it was only going to be around 7-8 mil.

Would like to thank you for a great Job and keep up the good work. I still think we can make top four even end up third is we can win our home games for the rest of the season . YNWA LFC for life .
