So a quick round up so far, Karius has signed a 5yr deal (Klopp's third signing) and been given the No.1 shirt, Chilwell due shortly, fee in the region of 4mil plus add ons, Skrtel is off to Besiktas for 6mil, Goetze has never been on Liverpools radar and Canos is off to a London club, probably Watford or QPR for a fee off 4mil.

If chilwel is our only signing at left back then that just shows a massive lack of intent.

Agree13 Disagree28

24 May 2016 20:56:25
Kman92, so the fact that Arsenal have been after Chilwell suggests that they have a massive lack of intent too?

Agree17 Disagree4

24 May 2016 21:06:11
does chilwell even make the leciester team?

Agree2 Disagree13

24 May 2016 21:15:41
How is Chilwell a lack of intent? For all you know the clubs scouts and Klopp genuinely believe he is the left back available. Coutinho was about 19 with hardly any first team experience when we signed him. Nobody batted an eyelid though because he has an exotic name.

Agree21 Disagree2

24 May 2016 21:16:21
maybe chilwel is ready and will be awesome :P.

Agree10 Disagree2

24 May 2016 21:16:45
A massive lack of intent. Really? What brings you to that conclusion? Because Klopp is doing what he thinks is best rather than what you want? How many left backs would he have to sign to keep you happy?

Agree16 Disagree0

24 May 2016 21:35:17
Chilwell couldn't replace Fuchs, so only played a few games but he got a glowing report from Klopp's best friend, David Wagner who is Huddersfield manager and where Chilwell had a loan spell, before heading back to Leicester and on another note, Toure, whose current contract expires next month, is in line for a new short-term contract, as Sakho is rumoured to be facing a 6mth ban for failing a drugs test.

Agree13 Disagree3

24 May 2016 21:51:08
I think if we sign Chilwell then it will be a rotation of him gomez and flanaghan at left back.

25 May 2016 02:08:37
Very very happy with signings so far. Think Matip and Karius will really strengthen the team and Grujic will develop into a top midfielder in time. If we get Chillwell I'll be absolutely fine if that's our lot for this summer.

Only possible thing I could ask for is a major game changer in either DM (for Lucas or Allen) or attacking midfield (for Markovic, Llalana or Milner) purely as an upgrade in quality and to add a bit more steel or danger from AM. Would have to be someone special to justify a move. Gotze is obvious candidate but if we can't get someone who's the finished package I'd rather we gave Grujic, Stewart, Ojo, Markovic, Brannagan etc. a real shot.

Agree5 Disagree1

25 May 2016 04:24:46
The Eds have said we have an interest in Gotze. Please don't claim we were never interested just because the media is now reporting he's not coming to Liverpool.

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - we have an interest in hundreds of players, it doesn't mean we are going to buy them all or even try to.}

25 May 2016 06:28:12
But Goetze is looking unlikely ed now?

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - he was always unlikely. The likelihood will increase if Bayern make more of an effort to push him out of the door this summer. Right now though, his price is too high for a player with such a short term left on his contract.}

25 May 2016 08:34:24
Ben chilwell isn't an improvement on Moreno let's be honest. No one has actually seen him so we are just all going to trust klopp are we. I trust klopp when it comes to matters on the pitch but I am yet to be swayed by the recruitment. It's still early days but if chilwell is our only left back in the summer, I whole heartedly expect Moreno to be our first choice left back come next season. He's probably not even that much better than Brad smith. Unless Moreno and smith are both shipped out I can't really see another left back coming in on top of chilwell. We all want to see a top player or as good a player as we can get in the left back position as it is so important, yet we go for chilwell who can't get into the leiscter team. That to me is a lack of intent to really improve a position that cost us so much last season.

Agree7 Disagree7

{Ed023's Note - No one has seen the lad play but you then say he isn't an improvement on Moreno - how did you come to that conclusion may I ask?}

25 May 2016 09:18:47
Kman. Please remember that very rarely will Klopp buy "a superstar" or a player known to many regular fans.
Lewdonoski was a unknown and struggled in his 1st season. He achieved great things. Aubameyang was a ok left forward in the French league and his transformed into a leading striker in world football. Hummels wasn't cracking it at Bayern and look at him Dortmund under Klopp.

Not everyone is going to be a superstar who Klopp has bought and will buy. We just hope for the very best through out.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 May 2016 09:41:56
Kman I watched Chilwell twice last season. Both against Spurs in the FA cup and he was absolutely solid. Admittedly 2 games isn't a great pool of footage to judge a player from, but he showed me more in two games than Moreno has in 2 years!

I'd be happy with a back 4 of Chilwell, Lovren, Matip and Clyne. With competition from Smith, Gomez, Sule and Flanagan. That gives us a solid first choice defence, backed up by 4 young players who are all good enough to step in if required. In fact Chilwell, Gomez and Sule in particular have the potential in my opinion to play for Liverpool's first team for the next decade. I wouldn't be surprised if Sule broke into the team inside the first 3 months of the season.

It would be nice to get Hector in as well, and let Smith go. But I think that might be stretching it, and Chilwell may want first team football. Otherwise I'm sure he'd be staying at Champions Leicester, who have more games next season than us due to European competition. Why sit on our bench instead of theirs? I can genuinely see him starting.

Agree4 Disagree0

25 May 2016 10:18:23
Gazza I understand not everyone is going to be a superstar name, I don't get why people think once a player is ruled out for not being good enough it means such and such wants a big name. No that's not what I'm saying, most the left backs in the world today aren't big names but some of them have real quality, quality that is an improvement on what we have. Stupid posts like if he had an exotic name you would want him is nonsense, I want clear quality, someone who will definitely improve this position not a big name who costs a lot or someone with apparent potential. Why take gambles as if we are developing players like Dortmund when we don't have the back room staff they did, when England isn't developing the quality Germany is etc. This is not Dortmund, the same thing won't play out here, I don't have a crystal ball i'm just stating my opinion. This past season we saw improvements from our youngster but did you see where we finished. I rate klopp I'm just yet to be swayed by the recruitment and can you blame me since the past 4-5 seasons we have have signed average for the large majority. most the other top sides have top quality managers now just like ours, will sign better players than us but we are expected to get top 4? Explain how we will finish above city, Arsenal, Chelsea Utd and Spurs. I think we can on maybe a few of them but will it be enough?

Agree1 Disagree2

25 May 2016 10:06:52
Ed023 because if he was an improvement on Moreno surely he would be starting at Leicester city. Plus since we have practically signed him I've watched him in some full games, two of which where against Spurs as MK scouser mentioned and he did look good in one of those matches, the other one he looked rash and for a period just kept booting the ball out of play, the one thing Moreno is actually good at is keeping the ball in play and linking up well with the left sided player going forward. He retains the ball even when it looks like he can't. Genuinely the only problem I have with Moreno is his defending and positioning which are two major problems but can be fixed, it's clear from what I've seen Moreno has far more natural ability than chilwell and I'd say more potential as they are still both very young. Maybe if we had a good defensive coach or good defensive organiser we wouldn't have the problems we have, because it's not just Moreno who is the problem in defence. I'd have no problem if chilwell is coming in for competition or back up but as a starter, I just don't see it working out anytime soon. Maybe he will have a good start but eventually he will be targeted and then everyone will do their ritual slating and I told you so when they where saying he will be a good signing before hand lol. IMO we need better than Moreno And we still haven't got it, so I probably expect him to stay, if he goes then we need another Lb.

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed023's Note - There's nothing to suggest that Chilwell is the only left back coming in and Moreno may well be off. It's harsh to give out that he didn't start for Leicester when Fuchs played so well all season of course it was tough to break into the side. I have never seen the lad play so I will reserve judgement personally but as I haven't seen him play I won't saying he is an upgrade or a downgrade for that matter on Moreno}

25 May 2016 10:58:08

25 May 2016 10:59:19
C'mon lads. why all the doom and gloom? Look at what Klopp has achieved in 6 months with Rodgers team which were struggling. under Klopp 2 cup finals! Imagine what Klopp can achieve with HIS players who suit HIS style of play.

As far as new signings are concerned. lads we signed MATIP on a FREE! He was named in the bundesliga team of the year i. e. he was either the 1st or 2nd best centre back in the Bundesliga last season! Arguably one of the best young CBs in the world.

Grujic looks absolutely class as well. and for a pittance we signed him!

Klarius was also named the 2nd best GK in the bundesliga last season, second only to the BEST GK IN THE WORLD (Nuer) . and we got him again for a pittance.

Everyone knows what we needed i. e. New GK -Done, New CB - Done, New CM - Done. New LB on the cards. All other positions are pretty well sorted and I can only see us really pushing for players if we sell players i. e. upgrading.

Don't forget last season Klopp was without Sturridge, Gomez, Ings, Origi, Can, and Henderson for long periods. As well he had Benteke who he obviously did not rate at all. If you can't tell by our new signings Klopp is obviously buying younger players who he can mould into his footballing system i. e. remember when he signed he said 'I think we can win the EPL in 4 seasons'. As previously stated Klopp has never really bought big names, rather players who he knew he could get the best out of and would perform well in his system. Just wait and see what these guys can do.

We don't need Gotze. I would rather us buy Ante Coric who is younger with more to prove.

KMAN you question klopp recruitment, well remember this look what he did at dortmund and he has just bought the 2nd best GK in germany voted by the german teams he was 2nd only to the Bayern keeper so he can't be that bad, why don't you wait till the players he buys flop before coming out with statements like that, you won't look too foolish then.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2016 12:48:52
Remember when we signed Xabi Alonso for GBP10m. look at what he turned out to be. Don't let the size of the transfer fee be the only thing to dictate your opinion of the player.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2016 14:19:14
Kman.

I honestly do believe a few things will factor into our next season. A less injury free squad throughout. A full pre-season from Klopp. A shaved playing squad. More time to establish tactics on the training ground.
Without European football it could be a blessing. (I don't think to Leicester city standard) but certainly a advantage for a better league position.
New clubs new managers may also have the issues we may have have. Although, Klopp already having a good 3/ 4 of a season established. Team settling in. New players?
The likes of Spurs and Arsenal will maintain but Man U, Chelsea and Man city will have it all to do as will we.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2016 15:53:54
Whilst we know he is here to challenge for the starting slot I wouldn't read anything into Karius being given the no1 shirt, Mignolet has never worn it and it has been free since Jones left.

Hey eds
We all the well kept secret but it would be really nice if u guys confirm it. Is Gotze to Liverpool over?

Believable0 Unbelievable9

{Ed001's Note - when was it not? All that happened was Goetze was told he was not wanted at Bayern and made a few comments in order to try and get a move.}

24 May 2016 18:22:12
Ed so Bayern are ok with Gotze staying. Seems a really odd situation since i'm guessing a new contract isn't on the cards for him there?

{Ed002's Note - The window is yet to open - ignore the noise.}

25 May 2016 08:36:22
He has 12 months left on his contract. Next summer he could get a massive $$ move with a big sign on bonus because he will be free. Why not sit it out and train hard under a new coach and possibly get back in the team?

Hi Ed's, read a report that Arda Turan is available. I know we have been interested before but would his age/ style mean we have no interest now? If I remember rightly he has good creativity and in my opinion would be an equal to Coutinho. I also think the price could be right for us, not silly money.

Believable1 Unbelievable10

{Ed001's Note - we have shown no interest in him in a very long time.}

24 May 2016 14:51:05
That train has left the station long, long ago. I wouldn't think about that fella.
If I were you, I'd worry (a lot) about losing Coutinho and that's all I'm going to say about this at the moment.

Agree5 Disagree18

24 May 2016 15:21:34
Nothing new Solar. I think it's been known for a while that Coutinho was going to be off.

Seems to me your scratching at getting some attention on here by letting a bit of info go and then waiting for people to ask for more.

24 May 2016 15:34:11
Anyone who knows me on here, knows I don't do that. I don't come here very often and when I do, I have something. I rely only on two sources and I do not seek anyone's approval or attention. You're free to skip any time.

Agree4 Disagree3

24 May 2016 16:38:22
If Coutinho were to be off would many be that worried? Yea no doubt he has unbelievable talent, but I really don't think he is as important to the team as some pundits suggest. It would be more his consistency, throughout each game, never mind the season that would still make me feel like he is replaceable.
Would love for him to stay and keep getting better, but a bit like sterling last year if he goes he goes, we will get over it. We're are a fickle bunch after all haha.

Was that meant to be breaking rumour? LOL it's been said by the Eds here a long while back that Couthino has said he would leave or seriously consider leaving if Liverpool didn't make champions league football. Neymar has spoke out about it too, you have not really told us anything new lol. Search engine mate. Also if anyone goes it's because they don't want to be at the club anymore so good luck to them it's sad how fans moan and cry about a player leaving, it's football players come and go, replacements come in and could do better. Chill and enjoy your lives stop stressing or trying to get people to stress about Couthino leaving like its new news. Everyone should be looking forward to the new season. YNWA.

24 May 2016 17:53:19

Agree2 Disagree13

24 May 2016 18:00:33
You have something Solar? Mate you said absolutely nothing! You've not made any claim, just said be worried about Coutinho moving. Of course we should be worried, he's one of the best players in the world not playing in the Champions League, there will always be suitors and temptation!

But if he moves you can say you knew he was moving and going to that club or handing in a transfer request. If a newspaper decides someone has interest in you can say you knew they were bidding. If he signs a new contract you can say you knew we were trying to lock him down because of serious interest. If he takes an injury on international duty you can say you knew Klopp wanted him to ease off the internationals and that it's causing issues that might see him moved on. You can come in with the attitude of 'I'm just passing on news I don't need approval, I know what I'm talking about, I have good sources etc' but when it's 'news' that cannot be shown to be wrong in any circumstance (you've said be worried about losing our best player - of course someone will be interested in him at some point), don't give attitude because people find it a bit of a joke! You cannot be right if no circumstances exist that could prove you wrong. Don't act like some mysterious soothsayer telling us our future - if you have something you're willing to share then fine, share it. If you don't want to share it then don't. But don't try and wind people up and then get annoyed when it doesn't work.

Oh and just btw, people don't need to remember you mate, they can see what you've posted in the past. From the looks of it, nothing since 2014 and that was completely wrong where we wouldn't be spending much money (we spent 117m) and the only time you provided anything to the discussion before that it was saying that MK wasnt going to move because of a complicated third party ownership that the club didn't want to get involved in - actually he just wanted Dortmund!

And before you glorify in getting to people, I actually just lost my job and am pretty bored right now, so I have time to kill pointing out when someone is being a plonker.

24 May 2016 18:22:53

{Ed001's Note - I think I have mailed the right addy. It wasn't easy to remember. I really need to find some way to put them into categories or something to find them!}

25 May 2016 10:16:20

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2016 13:40:29
Eds just wondering if there is any update on Canos. Ed002 advised he had offers on the table and a lot of reports saying he wants to move on now.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - last I heard he was considering his future and leaning towards leaving. There are loans and permanent move possibilities available to him, I know Frank McParland wants to take him to Rangers, for instance.}

24 May 2016 14:08:43
What are your opinions on the lad, Ed001? Do you think he has the quality and attitude to make it at the top-level?

Agree1 Disagree5

{Ed001's Note - no, I don't think he has right now. I think he is far too happy to think he has done enough and coast. He needs a few knockbacks to teach him the value of hard graft, like has happened with the Leicester players. Canos is a by product of the academy era, too easy a life meaning players don't have that desire and hunger needed to really go all the way.}

24 May 2016 14:14:45
Although this is sad news if he does depart, it does show how far our academy has come from a few years back where everyone was usually being released or for nominal fees!

hopefully we will see more of a return on initial investments if players aren't going to make it in our first team!

Agree8 Disagree10

24 May 2016 14:19:51
Eds are there ever buy back clauses inserted by us in the same way the likes of Barcelona put them in with their younger players?

Agree1 Disagree7

{Ed001's Note - very rarely are they used by English clubs.}

24 May 2016 15:12:14
Who, this lad? Another one of those delusional youngsters who thinks he can waltz straight into the first team, make 150k a week and have a nike commercial in prime time telly, without breaking a sweat. We got plenty of those unfortunately.

Agree3 Disagree13

24 May 2016 16:09:23
I think we're being a little unfair. Maybe he hasn't stepped up enough (or maybe he would if given the chance), but I do remember reading somewhere the Brentford teammates thought he was pretty humble and worked hard. I personally don't think he's ready and prefer to see Ojo given then chance instead but no need to slate the guy.

Agree7 Disagree8

24 May 2016 18:13:40
Ojo's attitude needs serious adjustment too. He's got the balls to talk back at Klopp but not the brains to shut up and put up.

Any reason why several of our players have been linked to Watford in the past year? Do they have an ex coach or ex scout of ours? Sinclair left and signed, Ibe was linked in the spring, now Canos is. It sure looks like they don't mind publicly flirting with our young players, promising deals and turning their heads, but they get all upset about Klopp flirting with Zielinski.

Keep up the good work guys!

Believable2 Unbelievable8

{Ed001's Note - just awaiting medical results.}

24 May 2016 11:17:20
Do you rate him? Really value your knowledge as you have always been pretty spot on.

Agree2 Disagree7

{Ed001's Note - I have seen very little of him sorry. I got caught up in watching every single Premier League game this season, instead of taking more time to watch other leagues. I won't make that mistake next season as it has left me out of touch with players of interest.}

24 May 2016 12:31:27
I saw him a few times last year. His ability to make saves isn't particularly outstanding, about at the level Mings is at when we decide he's been doing alright for a few games. His ability to distribute the ball seems much better and a huge improvement on what we have. Never really saw him shouting and organising overly much but then I also didn't see him when he really needed to be.

Agree2 Disagree13

24 May 2016 12:36:24
He's been voted by fellow Bundesliga players as the second best behind Neuer.

Agree8 Disagree7

24 May 2016 13:20:09
I watched a few games after some rumours came out on these pages a couple of months ago, and the first thing that struck me about him was the same as most young goalkeepers today. They seem to catch and hold the ball far less than in the older days, and tend to parry or box the ball away. And quite a few times the parrying was towards the center of the field, where an onrushing striker could easily slot the ball into the net (didn't happen once in the games I watched) . I also noticed he is fearless with the high balls and doesn't hesitate as much as Mignolet, and he is better with his feet. I'm actually very excited about this signing. Could turn out to be the most influential signing of the summer, for the long term.

Agree6 Disagree7

24 May 2016 14:04:42
This is why i love this site, a community lending its voice, beside those nasty trolls of course. I haven't seen much of him either as Bundesliga matches aren't televised that frequently in South Africa anymore.

Believable1 Unbelievable8

{Ed001's Note - he is going to be linked to a hundred clubs over the summer, he has made it clear he is happy where he is. He is decent enough, but not really someone I would target, as I don't think he offers any improvement over Henderson, for instance. Now Kante, I would move heaven and earth to get him in a Liverpool shirt. Even if I am not 100% convinced he has the top quality on the ball, he protects the top quality and gives them the opportunity to use their quality.}

24 May 2016 05:55:46
He would cost a fortune surely Ed. He is class though, from what I've seen. Surprised more people haven't been linked to him. So many teams could do with kante in their team.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, the whole of Europe have. He is the one player that has not indicated a commitment to stay, so it could be very interesting with regards to him. He could well end up somewhere like Barca, Bayern or PSG. Then again they might convince him to give it until the January window and see where the club are.}

Much appreciated Ed. we'll have to get BennyBaller to get a crowd fund sorted to buy him for Liverpool! Ha.

Yeah 7 agree with Ed1. Having Kante is like having an extra player in the field of play.

Rumours of a 20mil release clause. That's a steal if it's true.

And surely he is perfect for pressing .

No links to us though .

Would love Kante to join, although not holding my breath. Would be a great DM and the first pure DM we have had since Mascherano left, really take a lot of pressure of the midfield.

That and it is a crime not sign him with all the terrible they Kante, oh he Can type puns when passing between our midfield.

{Ed001's Note - he is not a DM, never has been a DM and never will be a 'pure DM'. No idea why this nonsense keeps getting said. He is an old-fashioned central midfielder. He is far more than a limited defensive midfielder.}

I think it was Leicester's assistant manager that summed Kante up best. That they play Drinkwater in central midfield and Kante either side of him!

Watched a French documentary on how LC found Kante. The guy is out of this world and most certainly not a DM.

Out of this world and out of our league, sadly.

Unfortunately, Man City, UTD and Chelsea are after Kante and I'm sure that they have a better chance than we do, IF we were after him, which I doubt very much. And I haven't even mentioned top Spanish clubs who would love to get their hands on this player.
It's really frustrating that we cannot compete most of the time!

Centre midfield has been a huge problem for years and we keep going after the wrong players. Serously hope we don't consider Drinkwater, he's had one season where he only looked good because of Kante. Other than that he's been poor.
