Any interest in Ricky Alvaez?

Believable1 Unbelievable8

I'm interested but I'm not sure he'd play for an over-35s Sunday League team

Ed001, you said yesterday that we're looking for someone for the midfield.

There has been a lot of strong speculation over Will Hughes and Macca thinking that we're still after Alonso, but who do you think we will try and get in January? {Ed001's Note - I believe we are intending to get someone with more power and pace for central midfield. The bit of bite we have been lacking (though in my opinion we should have just got Medel before Cardiff last summer), which is why I would not expect it to be Alonso. I also don't see Will Hughes in that category, so I am not expecting him, or at least not just him. While I would not be of the opinion he is the player I would want, I believe there is some interest in Diame, as a cheap option, so it is possible we move for him. Other than that, I am not sure who is likely right now, January is not a good time to buy.}

Player like Ramirez would be good, are we still after MATIC? {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I get what your saying but Medel is more trouble than he's worth. I think Diame would be a good buy and we could offer Allen on loan so that West Ham could use that money for an attacker.

Agree0 Disagree0

M'vila ed? was in the stands on saturday. {Ed002's Note - As a guest of Kirikou.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I keep hearing from the EDs that January 'isn't a good time to buy' but over the last few years, we've done some great business in January- Suarez, Coutinho, Sturridge. arguably our 3 best players and all of them made an instant impact. That would suggest we perform very well in the winter window. Is there any reason why the EDs think it's not a good time? {Ed002's Note - It is the middle of the season and teams do not want to be disrupted by sales.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Alonso has signed a new long term contract at RM, so won't be coming back here any time soon, if ever! {Ed001's Note - Haych, sorry I didn't deal with your reply so didn't spot your comment, but it is absolute lies. He is no trouble whatsoever! He works his backside off in training and plays where ever he is asked to play with no moans or whines. If you are referring to red cards, he is nothing like as bad as made out.}

Agree1 Disagree0

If only Kolo could convince his brother to sign as well

Ed001, any chance of Fernando? From what i've seen he's a beast in midfield {Ed001's Note - he is certainly one that has been put forward and looked at, but I believe the asking price was ridiculous. I was told that Porto were asking for 30m+.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds001 what's your views on nzonzi, my opinion is he would also be a good cheap option with proven prem experience? {Ed001's Note - he is ok, just doesn't do enough for me, too prone to silly bookings, they never seem to be a case of taking one for the team, always down to a lack of discipline on his part.}

M'Vila looks to be all but completed. I guess that rules out my favourite Fernando! He's been so, so good this season aswell.

Hi eds thanks for your time, what happened to muniain I remember everybody wishing he'd join a couple years ago {Ed002's Note - Nothing happened to him. Muniain was touted around the clubs on behalf of Bilbao in January 2012 - and the two clubs in England that were approached were Chelsea and Manchester United. The asking price was 40M euros which was related to the buy-out clause that exists for Iberian clubs. They won't get it because I don't think clubs would risk half of that on a player who is young and has had some off field issues. If the price comes down to a reasonable level (20M euros might be an acceptable figure) I can see interest from several English clubs should be become available. Lyon, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Roma have sustained interest which may still be there but I could not see a cash deal involving Lyon as possible at this time. Rumours abound of Juventus and Palermo interest. It was thought an eventual move to Barcelona would happen, although his performances this past season have not been good at all and his temper has gotten the better of him again on more than one occasion. With his value dropping all of the time Athletic might well look to extending his contract.}

Are Liverpool a team interested {Ed002's Note - I would really not whip yourself in to a frenzy just yet.}

hi ed002 just like your thoughts on mata will he leave in jan on loan or sale and is it something Liverpool would look at think he could be great for us cheers {Ed002's Note - There is just perhaps potential for a loan in January. But not to Liverpool.}

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Ed002 what about a permanent transfer- it's a World Cup year so he'll be aching to play
If we are in the top 4 come January the owners should back Rodgers to complete the job and he's not a mourinho kind of player {Ed002's Note - I think if he goes it will be in the summer. The driver for Liverpool might be runt based to be honest. A screamer of an outside chance if you want it might be Arda again.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Eds,

Just wondering, if Mata did end up in Athletico in january would that then cool their interest in Coutinho, at least until the summer?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - Sure.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds, is there any particular reason he'll not join Liverpool on a loan due to some stipulation or something? Or would it be just a flat out "ho ho merry bugger off" from Chelsea? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have their quota of loan players including Moses from Chelsea.}

Hi Eds

Just wondering what the situation is with martin Kelly?
always seemed a good player but br don't seem to rate him.
flanno was excellent though {Ed001's Note - he just needs managing as he comes back from a long term injury, that is all. It took Ramsey two years to get back to his best after one, Kelly will need time as well.}

Believable14 Unbelievable0

Someone made an excellent point the other day on the banter page that Carra never actually settled and thrived in one position until he was, what, 26?
I really hope Kelly makes it as a future Liverpool centre back. He's made for it.
Just give the lad time.
He could be a real un.
