Rumours out that Zaha to Arsenal. Would have been useful for us - young, British talent...

That's what we said about Carrol, Adam, Henderson and Downing too. Though Hendo's turning out alright...

We have sterling and we are getting Ince. Why do we need another youngster? Better we get a more matured frontman. 5 points from the 4th place. We should spend money wisely.

Did people say Adam and Downing we're young?

Adam wasn't exactly young

So British that he's not sure if he wants to play for England

Britain don't have any talent. look abroad!

Arsenal have agreed a fee with Crystal Palace for Zaha so Walcott must be leaving maby to Chelsea or Liverpool
Murton Red

It wont be Liverpool.

Is that they way it works one comes in one goes out

Hello Ed002,
KK prefered to buy British players. If Rodgers buys anyone now, and we know he will, will he look beyond Britain? Most of the names, if not all (sturridge, walcott, ince, butland) being linked with LFC are from Britain. Any serious interest in players from other countries this window? thank you. {Ed002's Note - Certainly players from elsewhere have been looked at and, as we have said, there have been enquiries made about the likes of Jeffren on loan and Hoarau.}

Eds can you eloborate who is Hoarau. {Ed002's Note - Guillaume Hoarau will be allowed to leave PSG in January rather than let his contract run down until the summer with Everton, Hamburg, Trabzonspor, Monaco and possibly Sunderland showing interest in the striker. Previous interest from Liverpool has, I understand, been rekindled to some extent by a very recent request for information on his availability.}

Ed does that show we are looking for a central striker on top of sturridge and ince? {Ed002's Note - There are no secret messages in what is happening - consider the squad and not any first 11.}

Borini is back training at boxing day but not playing till jan and stutidge is to be declared at 2-01-13 . We are definitely contenders for top 4 guys. Way do u think eds??? We will win Europa ??will downing leave??? {Ed002's Note - The Europa Cup is there to be won. Downing might go.}

Borini & Sturridge will not make us a top 4 team or a major contenderd for the Europa cup..

We are a top 4 contender without Borini & Sturridge, but the latter is critical to lead the line when Suarez cannot play.

As I've said before Downing will not go for less than 12mil the same as Carroll has a min price tag. There is nobody who wants to pay that for Downing in January.

Give it up! Your delusional thinking we will be anywhere higher than 10th

We are not anywhere near top 4 contenders and that will be confirmed when Stoke beat us later on this evening

Hi edds merry Xmas,just wondering what ur thought is about andy Carroll now we have Sturidge by the looks which I'm happy wif!with Carroll on loan and not really scoring goals atm if Rodgers is looking 2 sell him in summer who will want him, we need him 2 have a good 2nd half of season if we are expecting decent offers 4 him.do u also expect another striker in January ? Thanks great site {Ed002's Note - Carroll is injured so it is not unreasonable he is not scoring goals. In the summer an opportunity will exist at WHU and perhaps there will be interest from Liverpool. Borini will be back in January, there is a good chance of Ince arriving and we know enquiries have been amde elsewhere. I am sure everything will be fine.}

With Carroll out injured and out for some time to come he certainly isn't scoring goals ATM.

What is the latest on the Ince deal?
MIGHTYRED {Ed002's Note - As far as I know it is in the hands of Blackpool.}

Have we made a new bid then? After the first one got rejected.

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - Correct.}

Hello Eds,
any idea how much the bid is ?
heard it is close to 5 milion + a player on loan (maybe jack robinson)
also have any other teams made an offer to blackpool regarding ince ? {Ed052's Note - both Robinson and Pacheco have been offered on loan. Whether at the sametime or seperately I am not im not sure. But I dont believe it has been accepted. In the end I fear Balckpool may make Ince too costly for us}

Any chance Brendan may move in for Honda should we get a decent fee for both Downing and Cole?

Cheers, hope everyone is having a Christmas to remember!

Gogol {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were very interested at one time but may have blown their chance of Honda in January 2011 when he was available for about £8M. During the mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player said he wanted to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. This summer we saw enquiries for the player have been from Lazio, PSG, Sevilla and Palermo. It seems to be the longest running of the Liverpool (and Arsenal) related "rumours". Honda was close to leaving in the summer with a move to Lazio only failing at the last minute and I understand that Lazio would still be interested at the right price. He has had a bit of a strange season in that he has been scoring goals but his performances have been criticised - which seems to have put off Dortmund who have taken a recent look. If you were to ask if I expect Honda to move to Liverpool in January the answer would be probably not.}

Would love us to sign him though! He is class!

The one player whom i would break the bank if necessary...is this guy...
he is having a awful current season as per his standards..
but stil 7 goals in19 appearence for a versatile midfielder...
the perfect no.10..excellent left foot..pace skill..and one of the best in the busines for a dead ball...

Ed002 is there any chance we could become interested in wesley sneijder as BR said he wants a top class number 10, if spurs can afford him then so can we? {Ed002's Note - Don't expect Sneijder to arrive in January. Liverpool has shown no interest in him and the cost could be prohibitive.}

I have a suspicion that Sneijder could be moving to Tottenham, if a deal can be agreed. The player is keen on the idea.

LFC82 {Ed002's Note - The Spurs story comes from a journalist speculating that a sale, not a loan, to Spurs may be possible - but I have no confirmation that it is true at this time. If a move for Moutinho cannot be put together by Spurs - most probably due to financial constraints - an approach to Sneijder does make sense. PSG and Fenerbhace remain two most likely destinations for Sneijder at this time although Schalke 04 have been packaging up an ambitious bid and Bayern Munich has been, I understand, discussing the player in-house. Anzhi and Spartak Moscow retain an interest in him but chances of a move to Russia seem to be near zero. I don't know of any remaining interest from Manchester United. There is a very slim chance that he could make a surprise move somewhere else and discussions have been held with a club on a different continent, but I would supect that is something for the future.}

ed wesley sneidger is available for 12 million euros and signing for spurs what arent we going for him

Wages!

Papa G

Not a good a player as he used to be having seen him once or twice on tv. Injury prone and finally high and excessive wage demands.

Because his wages are rediculous and he is a ball hog. Doesn't play well with team mates! There is only one thing I would do with him and that's sell him to someone else!!

He is going to Spurs. {Ed002's Note - The Spurs story comes from a journalist speculating that a sale, not a loan, to Spurs may be possible - but I have no confirmation that it is true at this time. If a move for Moutinho cannot be put together by Spurs - most probably due to financial constraints - an approach to Sneijder does make sense. hi eds,
are we going to sign any defender in january (p.s lot of sites reporting links with vrij, mirin) {Ed002's Note - Vrij would be pricey. Mirin is someone suggested if Coates leaves. Else I don't see it as a priority.}

on twitter said mirin

25 Dec 2012 14:54:55
Hi Eds,

Is it true that sturridge has signed for Liverpool? {Ed002's Note - He will be signing.}

25 Dec 2012 17:45:58
happy xmas scousers

25 Dec 2012 13:51:02
Quaresma to Liverpool done deal in January. {Ed002's Note - Quaresma has struggled somewhat since leaving Porto where much was expected of him when he was younger. Since leaving Porto he has been much lower profile and has had a number of clubs but not really settled. As he has had his contract with Besiktas cancelled he is a free agent and will probably be heading back to the Iberian peninsula - I will take a shot at saying with Porto after he loses some weight.}

Free Transfer then yea why not, i know as people have said he has struggled but on his day he can be unplayable, worth the gamble as it would be low risk.

Merry christmas to everyone, Do any of the eds know the length of contract mesut ozil still have with Real Madrid? Rodgers said that he will be looking for a bright no.10 type of player in the summer and ozil does suit the bill isnt he? {Ed002's Note - It runs until June 2016.}

25 Dec 2012 12:43:48
Madrid won't sell Ozil. Chelsea have so many No. 10s (Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Piazon, Marin), maybe they can do business with us.
RedBeer.

I doubt it! Ed, apparently sneijder has agreed personal terms with spurs and now down to clubs to agree a fee? {Ed002's Note - The Spurs story comes from a journalist speculating that a sale, not a loan, to Spurs may be possible - but I have no confirmation that it is true at this time. If a move for Moutinho cannot be put together by Spurs - most probably due to financial constraints - an approach to Sneijder does make sense. I'd imagine Christian Eriksson is who BR has in mind for the playmaker role.

Mantis

Eriksen want be moving to anfield!

Hi edds,

What are the chances of a suprise signing like assaidi for example

Felix {Ed002's Note - I think there is every chance of Assaidi being a Liverpool player in January Felix. Nailed on.}

Ed, a few sites and news feeds are picking up that wesley sneijder has agreed personal terms with spurs over what I'm reading is a loan move?? {Ed002's Note - The Spurs story comes from a journalist speculating that a sale, not a loan, to Spurs may be possible - but I have no confirmation that it is true at this time. If a move for Moutinho cannot be put together by Spurs - most probably due to financial constraints - an approach to Sneijder does make sense. To ed002, I think the question is what are the chances of getting players that are not rumoured and talked about in the press like how assaidi signing has been. {Ed002's Note - That is then a different question. The trouble is, if I say that the chances are good, then you will want teh name of the players it could be. The club, like all clubs, will always being seeking out squad players and looking for youngsters who might make it. If they find someone and can make a deal then something may happen. We have to remember that in January it can be much more difficult to strike deals as it can be disruptive to the plans of other teams. So, it is more of a "maybe" than "probably". As I explained to another poster, Liverpool has made an enquiry about a French player, but it could simply remain an enquiry without any follow up. We knew an enquiry was made about Huntelaar, but it came to nothing. Scouts are continuing to attend matches and if something comes up, perhaps a deal can be struck. Again, maybe someone is looking at possible free agents for the summer. We can only wait for the unexpected.}

Ed is it the under 21 defender mirin? {Ed002's Note - As I said, if you expect the unexpected, it will no longer be unexpected.}

Ed so it isn't mirin? {Ed002's Note - Who isn't Mirin? And I would not get too carried away about him. If Coates were to leave and if Isimat Mirin was a player Liverpool were to bring in, it must be remembered that expectations should not be too high as he is young and inexperienced. I am not aware of anything being imminent.}

Ed002, i am pretty sure the french player is ben arfa as someone reliable said recently we made an enquiry about him? am i right? {Ed002's Note - There has been no enquiry made for Ben Arfa by Liverpool I am afraid.}

, laughed out loud, good 1 ed002 :)

Ed002 last question on this french player, is it an attacking player who u would say is a 1st team player? cheers for the responses {Ed002's Note - You should perhaps read the other posts.}

Very subtle eds, what's going on with Guillaume Hoarau?? Are there talks or what?

RedKev {Ed002's Note - There is plenty of interest in him from clubs and it looks like he will be allowed to move on in January.}

From Liverpool? {Ed002's Note - Guillaume Hoarau will be allowed to leave PSG in January rather than let his contract run down until the summer with Everton, Hamburg, Trabzonspor and Monaco showing interest in the striker. Previous interest from Liverpool has, I understand, been rekindled to some extent by a recent request for information on his availability.}

Ok thanks Ed002, it would be a strange one in my opinion to bring in a player in the Andy Carroll mould who is 5 years older & French.
RedKev {Ed002's Note - But very, very cheap. I have no feeling if the club will follow up their interest.}

25 Dec 2012 04:57:23
Any Liverpool interest in Wesley Sneijder and Isaac Cuenca?
Both seem to be available.
And i thought that people in Liverpool rate Cuenca very highly..so don't you see us making a move for him?

Cuenca has a long-term injury & Sneijder doesn't fit the player profile that Liverpool are going for.

Sneijder doesn't fit?? lol

25 Dec 2012 03:21:47
Liverpool targets

CF. Sturriadge huntlaar gamiero defoe bent

MID. ince zaha isco

DEF. Shawcross bains {Ed049's Note - Huntelaar has signed an extension at Schalke, Isco is highly unlikely and Everton would never do business with Liverpool.}

What about Abel xavier

I thought Shawcross just signed an extension with Stoke?

And Nick Barmby.

BR's only after 2 and he's got Sturridge already

Lay off the wine man!!

25 Dec 2012 02:26:52
any chance of Liverpool entering the fight to sign sneijder for a reported 9m or so.

he hasn't played much and inter are looking to sell {Ed049's Note - I wouldn't want him mate, he is injury prone and his wages are very high.}

And he hasnt played a decent game since jose left inter .

His wages are like 5.5m euros a year

25 Dec 2012 00:05:38
hi eds, just heard a whisper off a friend that we are seriously interested in charlie austin, i know his name hasnt been mentioned on this site and that primarily interest has been shown by newcastle, everton and qpr. however i wondered if this whisper may actually be true, decent goalscorer, fairly young. (also our odds of signing him have gone down from 33/1 to 2/1 in the last day). do you know anything eds?
all the best for christmas and new year.
Red4Life {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

25 Dec 2012 22:14:26
Charlie Austin WILL sign for Liverpool, fee agreed - Morgan going the other way on loan - Morgan not happy about it but will go ONLY on loan
