any chance of griezmann ed? {Ed002's Note - Athletico Madrid, Valencia, Marseille and Lyon have shown some interest in Griezmann in the recent past and repordedly Barcelona tool a look at one time. Whilst the kid has said that he has no plans to leave Spain anytime soon the financial problems being faced by Real Sociedad may well see him leave the club in the summer. The two clubs showing a real interest right now are Arsenal and Fiorentina.}

Hello Eds,
just read on a site Fernando Reges of Porto has just 1 year remaining on his contract. Have we shown any interest in him recently?
Would be a top-top buy for CDM and could well be available for 10-15 million if the contract info is true. {Ed002's Note - He may well move to Italy or Germany but tehre is no interest from Liverpool.}

Hey Eds just a quick question regarding our scouting of South America, any potential transfer targets from that market this summer?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Kolo Toure is expected for Talks and a medical after Man city USA tour frindlies with Chelsea returns.
He was a sub, again: but Rodgers is persistant on getting the 32 yrs old; because he is looking for 'winners' with 'winning mentalities' to strengthen his side, and in my opinion even though he will never replace no. 23, he has the voice to arrange the defence and is heavily experienced.
He captained Arsenal numerous times and was cities captain for 2 years after moving from arsenal for 16m.

We all know defenders don't age badly like wingers, they mature: Ferdinand, terry etc
We have got a player on our hands here, with one more CB and a few youngster defenders, the defence might be sorted.

Cheers Ali

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope not

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't see how we can afford his wages, plus it goes against FSG's policy. Would a player like kolo accept a performance based contract at the age of 32? I reckon he will be all out for a final big payday and that won't happen at LFC.

Agree0 Disagree0

Signed oh the right wages could be a good signing short term

Agree0 Disagree0

What if there is a bigger picture here when kolo was at arsenal they were favs to sign yaya kolo went to city and so did yaya it is well known that yaya looks up to kolo and would as he has done follow his lead / advice. i'm not saying yaya will be signed but how long does stevie g have left there is a lot of unrest at city who knows what could happen next summer

Agree0 Disagree0

Top defenders make good decisions on the pitch when they are young. As they mature, they make use of their decisiveness and experience to enhance their game. So far, I can't see anyone from the academy (who played in first team) who has the calibre to be a top defender.

Agree0 Disagree0

Posted this last night, Reina has said his final goodbyes to all the staff at Melwood. Brendan looking at 2 goalkeepers. Begovic/Vorm plus one more to play backup (maybe Lopez from Valencia)

Believable41 Unbelievable46

He's gone to get his child baptised in Spain and have a little holiday over ther! That's why he said bye. Good one mate!

Lopez is at Real Madrid now.

Not Vorm

Agree0 Disagree0

Begovic is to sign with Brad Jones remaining as back up

I meant diego alves from valencia, and I am telling the truth regarding Pepe Reina and am very sad to see him go.

I think he means alves

Dear Eds,

Just want to ask whether the following players could join LFC in this summer transfer window

Asmir Begovic
Aly Cissoko
K. Papadopulous
Atsu

Reds Jacky from HK {Ed001's Note - maybe, unlikely, probably not, maybe.}

Believable20 Unbelievable16

Really? You don't think we'll sign Papadopolous? A lot of journalists have said it's likely including Honigstein {Ed001's Note - I will stick with being negative, as he has other options, being that every time I have expected a player to choose another option he has chosen us. So, while we are in for him, I won't get positive until the moment he puts pen to paper, it worked with Coutinho, who I assumed would want to work with a manager who got the best out of him and guaranteed him games. Fingers crossed it will work again, though I am honestly not hopeful, our medical is extremely extensive.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure about this Atsu kid. On the other hand though Begovic and Papadopoulos need to be signed, along with Toure and I believe the defence will be as good as any

Agree0 Disagree0

Possible, unlikely, no chance, bless you

Reports today sayin Madrid are willing to pay di Maria plus 30m for Suarez. Could be tempting.

Believable22 Unbelievable96

Never in a million years no thanks suarez anyday over di maria

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozil instead of Di Maria and you've have a deal

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmm I somewhat doubt this. If it were true though I'd say we'd have to consider accepting it. We'd be getting a top class winger/forward which we need and enough money to get a class replacement for Luis. Don't get me wrong I do not want Luis to leave as he is world class and I like the guy, but unlike other fans I do believe there would be life for the club if he was to leave this summer so long as we get a good deal!

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont want di maria. I want Suarez. End of

Agree0 Disagree0

Di Maria + Higuain + Alonso = Maybe

Agree0 Disagree0

They won't join us and we can't afford their big wages IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

Not for sale! We will still be weaker even if we spend the 30m on 1 striker. Only Messy and Ronaldo can replace Louis which won't happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not everyone wants Monaco wages

Agree0 Disagree0

40m + higuain at the very least.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be perfectly happy with a Suárez-Di Maria swap (although the 30,000,000 to go with it would be appreciaited), I love Suárez but we play better with Sturridge up top.

Agree0 Disagree0

40m + Alonso+ ozil

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 22:02:43
I wouldn't swap them ronaldo for Suarez. But I'm not the owners. We need to keep our best players and sell the rubbish ones. Sounds simple but our managers for some reason never do.

Agree0 Disagree0

People saying we play better without Suarez need their fickle heads tested

Agree0 Disagree0

There's no reason why Suarez sturridge & Coutinho can't all play together. I don't know why people are saying we're better off without Suarez, its like they can only remember the last four games of the season and forgotten all the rest.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 21:03:45
No! Di Maria, Higuain and €15M maybe. If he/board decide he should leave (I pray not) I hope it isn't to Man City otherwise we're f****d!

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh and player + plus cash deals happen all the time especially in high profile cases like Luis Suarez I know this is a rumour website but come on make it sound plausible

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard that they are offering Benzema and Di Maria for Suarez- i'd take that anytime

Agree0 Disagree0

Err. how should I put this. NO!

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody in Real is better than Suarez (except maybe Ronaldo).
And there is no money possible, that could buy us anyone better than Suarez. Especially while we aren't in CL.

Which means Suarez is the most important member in this squad, and we should not even think of selling him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Try to get varane and money because varane is young and a strong defender for his age

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry to tell ya fellas but more than a few of you are totally deluded about Suarez's value in comparission to that of other players. Example di mariaplus higuain and 15m, c'mon Liverpool wuil be lucky to get 40m for our seriously flawed genius.

If madrid have really bid anywhere upwards of 20 miliion and di-maria then this is an absolute stromer of a deal for the club and they should snap RM's hand off. After all for all his genius, who knows what he will do next? Its no good having a goal machine who doesn't play a third of games ecah season becuase they are banned.
Get him sold Brendan!

The only player being consulted (with great limit) regarding potential transfer targets is Gerrard. There isn't any other player who is even remotely involved or has any knowledge of these dealings. This is to save some space on here for those who claim to have ties with players who know about transfers. The only players that know anything are those who have been told to look for another club.
-=Solar=-

Believable21 Unbelievable39

Sorry mate but your wrong there. I have known many players over the years and know a few people who have known a few more and most if not all playing staff know a great deal about whos coming and going. These days they tend to not share the info.
I only know one player currently and he's probably leaving this summer but he knows who's coming and going it's just he is too scared to tell me. Lol
A number of ex players with close contacts still know a great deal also.
I'm not sure who is consulted as such, you say just gerrard. It's my opinion that no player should have any say on transfers, not even the captain, not even gerrard.

MIKEY

I don't post rumours normally, I tend to post banter mainly, but today I have heard an unusual rumour that I thought I would share.

If its not true then please accept my apologies, but it has come from someone I know indirectly, who knows a lot of people in LFC including ex players and current players. I regularly see people like Roy Evans or Alan Kennedy talking with him. The rumour is that a 'huge' amount of players will be released by Rogers, both first team and fringe players that will not make it at LFC, in an attempt to have a massive overhaul of staff to clean out everyone who are just taking their salaries each month, with no real chance of getting into the first team.

FSG have decided to run the ship with mean and lean players who have real talent or promise for the future. They want quality, not quantity. He was talking of a figure in excess of 30 players, which would presumably cover reserves and U21's etc? This could be the summer of the long knives if this is true.

The second strong rumour is that Xabi Alonso has bought (or is buying) the house next door to our very own Stevie G. Why it struck me is because I thought Jonjo Shelvey lived next door to Stevie and possibly he is on the hit list as one of those players who Rogers has considered won't make it maybe?

Personally I loved Xabi and 12 months ago would have been pleased for his return. He is still a great player but I couldn't see where he could fit in, plus he is getting on a little. I like Jonjo even if he is a little raw at times, but he certainly has talent, that's for sure. Perhaps the rumours about Lucas joining Rafa in Italy could be true and his replacement is Xabi, who knows?

None of the above is fact of course, it was just a strong rumour that I heard and as it was from a very reliable source I thought I should post.

Tel 1949

Believable30 Unbelievable52

Lucas is not leaving this summer. Jonjo could leave as he has lots of offers, especially Cardiff City. Alonso has been told he can leave if his price is met. The player clear out will not be that huge. probably around 4-5 players sold if we're lucky.
-=Solar=-

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool don't have 30 players to release. Unless they are dumping the U6's.
10 is a possibility but that happens every year so isn't really news.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get rid of 30 players? Nonsense.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 13:47:37
xabi alonso would still be 1 of the top 5 midfielders in the premiership for the next 3 years imo he never had any great pace. with a lot of youth coming to the club an old hand to replace carras influence on the younger players could be just what we need, I suppose a lot would depend on the cost of getting xabi. Tommy Irish Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice to see a humble and honest post. Icahn see that a large number of fringe players need to be released. I hope the Alonso bit is true. Thanks for a straight post.

Thanks Tel 1949 for the info I don't see why it couldn't be true. Summer of the long knives liked that.

There are always about 12 or 15 youngsters moving on every year at every top club so that's not unusual. Would expect us to push into double figures with numbers sold from the first team and older reserves combined though, with most of the following leaving: Gulacsi, Wilson, Sama, Sokolik, Skrtel, Coates, Spearing, Shelvey, Downing, Assaidi, Carroll, Pacheco, Ngoo.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 sounds a bit like 30 with a scouse accent, maybe it was that lol
I just can't see us going for Alonso with the likes of Allen and Henderson at the club that need game time to develop. Shame though.

Thanks for the rumour Tel. This rumour goes along with what Macca mentioned, of how many players would be leaving.

Personally, I don't get many rumours myself, but the only one I have been told, is that, a lot of the CBs in the Youth/Reserves will be leaving.

The real AG

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post Tel.
And actually, the figure quoted may not be all that fantastical.
Just looking on Liverweb, there was a total of 18 x players out under Rodgers' current tenure this past year.
So maybe if you added fringe squad, then 30 x out would be do-able.
The Juicer

Agree0 Disagree0

Alonso in. Allen and Lucas out

Agree0 Disagree0

First team squad only those figures, meant to add.
The Juicer

Agree0 Disagree0

They've already told a load of kids a couple of weeks back that they'll be released, so if they take that into consideration, 30 is a possibility in all honesty. But that's really not much different than any other season. I think out of the first team squad, there'll possibly be about 7 - 10 out of the 30 sold or released, and possibly a few more sent out on loan. Carroll, Spearing, Wilson, Assaidi, and Pacheco are definites. Skrtel and Coates are likely. Pepe, Downing and Shelvey are possibilities. And then some of the kids sent out on loan. So when you think about it, 30 out of all squads isn't as dramatic as it first sounds.

Sean.

Hi Eds, what are the chances of Dries Mertens? Quality player and would be available for reasonably cheap. I personally feel Alderwield and Kolo Toure will come in which will make space for Coates to leave. Atsu is also looking more likely and would be a bargain if the price rumoured is the correct price. Reply would be appreciated, Dan {Ed002's Note - Search function please.}

Is it true city are eyeing up SUAREZ I hope its not true because we need him if were going to challenge for the title yes the title after all we are LIVERPOOL we shouldn't lower our expectations ever I think with a few good additions we could give it a GREAT shot I for one think we as fans should be aiming higher than 4th and I really believe we have the manager/owners to get us back where we belong JON96 {Ed002's Note - Manchester City are one of the clubs who will be looking to make an offer for Suarez this summer.}

Believable19 Unbelievable45

Lots of speculation.

Whatever the fans think of Suarez, let's not forget that a lot of people think Suarez has disgraced the good name of Liverpool FC. And that includes members of the Anfield hierarchy.

Don't also forget that LS and his agent have also been touting around for another club. LS himself isn't happy the way he has been treated.

The owners would be content to sell, LS would be happy to stay or leave. All that matters is finding a buyer and finding a replacement.

Forget this nonsense about Suarez being worth £50 million or higher. Suarez is worth no more than £35 million and many clubs might think a lot less. I would guess at £25 million plus about £10 million in clause-related payments

Agree0 Disagree0

It's fans like you who pile this type of pressure on, just because of what LFC were 20+ years ago. We're not even close and it's going to take 3/4/5 seasons to build slowly back up.

You're the type of fan who when we finish next season with 10 points more than we did this season, and still only 6th or 5th, won't understand why. And be calling for BR's head.
Because all the teams ahead of us a light years ahead, and we're in year 1, under Rodgers. City, United, Chelsea will spend huge. Arsenal and Spurs prob not so much, but they'll spend.
Only team realistlitcly I see us catching is Everton, while hopfully giving Arsenal and Spurs a good run if they don't have the best of seasons.

And that will be progress in year 2. Year 3, we'll see, hopefully another small step.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to say I strongly agree with this post, yes it's true that we do tend to always have maybe too much pre-season optimism however the current state of our squad I do think (with the intended summer additions) has the ability to compete with any of those who finished above us this season.
In my eyes selling Suarez to city would be pure madness. I think that the main reason Liverpool would want to sell Suarez in the first place is due to his behaviour in England and this to be the reason as for why Suarez could want to leave, however if this is the case then it would make no sense to transfer him to a rival in the premier league, especially for some of the incredibly low fees being touted for him: £25-35 million by some, less than FT and AC (regardless of the over spending here).
Not only would selling Suarez result in a serious lack of world class talent in our side, necessary to compete at the top but also would result in a lot of faith being lost in the owners and the board, as players suitable at filling the hole left by a Suarez departure are in very short supply, personally I can name 5, which in themselves are questionable: Falcao, Hulk, Cavani, Sanchez & Martinez. All of which I do not see moving to 7th place Liverpool ahead of other higher paying, current champions league competing sides.
Interested to your opinions on this ed's? cheers guys, your doing a great job!

Agree0 Disagree0

I've heard that the club is quietly looking to offload the player, contrary to statements made in the media.
-=Solar=-

Agree0 Disagree0

He is worth 50 million and Liverpool will get it if he is sold

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 13:55:25
whats the point in solving other teams above us problems and wonder why we r 30 points behind them at the end of the season if suarez wants to leave then get no less than 50m from a foreign club and reinvest wisely imo. Tommy Irish Red

Agree0 Disagree0

I really get fed up with so called "fans" happy to accept 7th best. Two clubs above us are "small" clubs with tiny support. It is unacceptable to finish behind Everton or Spurs. The other three are a different matter but I don't think we are that far behind. As for Suarez, he is easily worth 50+ and if we sell, it should only to be a foreign team. If you are happy to accept failure I suggest you move over the Park.

Agree0 Disagree0

No one is going to pay £50 million for Suarez. Laughable "championship manager" figures

Agree0 Disagree0

Then no one will get Suarez. Suarez easily worths 50mil by today's market and if no one is willing to pay as much, then no one will get him. Simple as that. As Rodgers said every player has his price. If a team is dead serious to get him then I believe 50mil will prevent us from keeping him. Anything less than that won't satisfy us in order to ship him away. Unless the owners are stupid.

Agree0 Disagree0

After all the crap he's gone through in England Ed do you think hel want a move to Spain or Italy over man city? {Ed002's Note - Real Madrid would either need to sell or offer player plus cash deals that may not sui BR. MC and BM can pay cash. Is suspect he would rather not move to MC, but we will see.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Please don't be naive: if LS decides he wants out and/or the club wants to sell, this will drive the price down.
And no, he isn't worth £50 million anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

If city want him I would suggest testing their resolve by quoting them £20m + Aguerro.

Agree0 Disagree0

Naive? Are you aware that Cavani who is half the player worth 60 mil? Are you aware that Torres cost 50 mil? Are you aware that even Javi MArtinez cost to Bayern around 30 mil? What world are you leaving in? He easily is a 50 mil player. Naive is the stupid person who will let him go for less. And even if Suarez himself wants out, there is no way he can drive the price down if the owners play hardball.

Agree0 Disagree0

The owners want him out as well

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi all,

I had the fortune of meeting a Liverpool player last night at a wedding (albeit a reserve one!) and although it was like trying to get blood from a stone, I discovered BR is in advanced talks with a proven EPL defender and an attacking flair player currently based in Italy. Sorry I cannot be more precise. I did ask if Cavani was a possibility, and he almost choked on his bucks fizz until he realized I was joking!

I have seen the 15 players watched by LFC on the Liverpoolfc. tv site, and I would like to know your thoughts on Capel please. I have searched this site and found minimal info. He looks like he could be useful by the clip.

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Marseille, Swansea and Braga have shown an interest Diego Capel whow will likely be available after what has been a pretty torid time this season. His agent has been instructed by Sporting to find him a new club with an asking price in the region of €6M. His agent has spoken with a number of clubs in England, including Spurs, Liverpool, West Ham and Sunderland.}

Great site eds.
First time poster having been a regular reader for some time. I have recently been told that Rodgers is looking to offload the following players to try and raise some additional funds. Coates, Skrtel, Downing, Shelvey and Carroll. The funds collected from these players leaving plus youths and Reina looking more likely to return to Barca will give Rodgers approximately 65million to spend. (this includes the starting 25 million). My 'friend' claims that he also has been told preferred buying choices which are as follows. Just wanted to hear your views. Zieler, Toure, Papadopoulos, Erikson, Son. I'm not convinced because the buying options seem like a lot of money, money which we don't have. Having said that I do think that would be good business. What do you think are these possible (especially as a package). {Ed002's Note - All of these players have been discussed and certainly there is some level of interest in three of them - please use the search function.}

Believable6 Unbelievable16

You had me until Skrtel. Why would Rodgers be looking to offload 2 central defenders, along with Carras retirement until he had some solid quality coming back in.
