Eds, have Liverpool shown any interest in Bernd Leno of Leverkusen, thanks.

{Ed001's Note - we did last summer, but never moved for him. Not heard him mentioned this summer.}

Ed001

Are you aware of interest in any other GKs from us (apart from Romero)? Would love us to get Begovic

Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - we have tried for a few, I have mentioned those I knew of at the time, it seems Romero is the chosen option now though.}

Why would a starting goalkeeper in the CL or a top Premiership Goalkeeper like Begovic join us and sit on the bench? Romero might be an option similar to that Brazilian joke we signed a few years ago who played maybe two games

Agree1 Disagree1

I don't think the general idea is that Begovic would be the one on the bench.

I would agree with that, although it would make you question why he signed Mignolet in the first place. I do believe Reina was on a downward curve in terms of performance but from a playing style, trying to play out from the back, there is no better keeper than Reina in terms of distribution so I though he would have suited our current way of playing perfectly.

Hey eds, wondering if you can shed a bit of light on ukrainian league and players, is the season cancelled? What about shaktars CL spot? Have all the players come back? Any refusing to report? Are we still looking at kono loan with balotelli signing? Seem to remember shaktar had some good brazilians, any of them available for loans or signings that we could swoop in for because of the crisis? Yarmo? Or any players you rate there.

{Ed002's Note - The headlines are: (a) The big issue: UEFA (probably not in line with their own rules) are not recognising Simferopol nor Sevastopol as Russian league clubs. (b) The league is already underway with the likes Konoplyanka, Yarmolenko and the other high profile players contributing. (c) It is fair to say that Shakhtar have four players who are being offered to other clubs and may well move on in the coming days (Luiz Adriano, Bernard, Fernando and Douglas Costa).}

At the start of the summer I would have loved Bernard to come in, having signed the players we have I wouldn't move for him. Shame really.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Bernard is available on loan and certainly Arsenal and Spurs have been approached as well as some Italian sides.}

Is d costa of interest to anyone in the premiership

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal showed an interest but the cost is very high indeed.}

Rumours around we're still after Xherdan Shakiri and have asked Bayern about a move. Any chance? Maybe loan?

Believable3 Unbelievable28

{Ed002's Note - Bayern have been talking to Monaco and will talk with Atletico (tomorrow I understand) - with Fiorentina and Juventus also showing some interest. That is all I am aware of.}

Shame has abit of champions league experience would have helped.

Agree0 Disagree1

We have enough forward, really.

I am ready to fly over from Oz to drive Joe Allan personally to the old toilet. This is the best news I have heard for a long time.

Alibabainoz, if that's the case, I'd gladly meet you at the airport and put you on the first plane back!

Joe Allen is a solid dependable player. Remember when Manchester United dominated the league in the 90s? They had Keane and Scholes in midfield. They also had good squad players like Nicky Butt, Phil Neville etc. Perhaps not top quality, but good enough and happy to play their part. Why not see Joe Allen as a squad player who won't let you down and can do a job? You can't have a squad of 20 world beaters.

Joe Allen is a very important member if our squad who enables us to keep possession in tight situations
He always gives 100% and will improve with a continued run in the team
Stay where you are mate cause he's going nowhere!
