Hi Ed's,

Are you aware of any firm interest from other clubs in any of our players?

I don't think anyone will be surprised if Couts leaves in the Summer but is there any interest in our Goalkeepers or defenders? I just have a hunch the Jan shopping is not over with Virgil (New keeper maybe) and some outs may also be on the horizon.

Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - The club will look to sell Markovic and sell or loan Wilson. Grujic and Woodburn should leave on loan. Coutinho interests Barcelona and Salah Real Madrid. Interest in Manefrom Madrid has gone. Ward will look for an out in the summer. There was interest from Spain in Sturridge and Ings could get a loan. Origi will likely look to options in the summer. Flanagan perhaps will look elsewhere.}

I bet you feel like a parrot at times Ed2 mate lol.

Thanks Ed šŸ‘šŸ».

Not including Salah and Coutinho all of those players leaving could add up to a nice sum of money.

Agree2 Disagree4

27 Dec 2017 21:21:54
Including salah and coutinho, it could add up to a lot more.

Agree4 Disagree4

27 Dec 2017 23:50:47
U guys joking or what? Salah won't be leaving LFC in the near future. Perhaps in 3/ 4 years after performing consistently. I hope we start winning things quickly to avoid this.

Agree3 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine - you need to understand that clubs become interested in players doing well - particularly those who approach them. }

28 Dec 2017 08:15:38
You watch, we will build a solid defence and then the attack will get sold haha, I think we could cope with the loss of Coutinho with a top replacement brought in but to lose Salah too so early would be a blow, Van Dijk coming in and Keita in the summer gives our team a stronger look already, add to that a top keeper and more than likely a solid left back and we can look to push at challenging for top spot or a trophy, now let's hope Klopp takes off his blinkers regarding Mignolet, Ward deserves a shot now in the league as Karius is playing CL, any firm interest in us looking at Keepers Ed? Anyone been approached that you know of?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of. We have had a fair few looked at but nothing firm yet.}

28 Dec 2017 12:53:02
If ward doesn't get the FA cup game to impress then he should be demanding a move. The other two have had chances.

Agree5 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 18:38:03
Can anyone give the date of when Ed2 discussed the interest in Salah - if I'm reading this right? I used the search but there are pages and pages of results.

Cheers in advance.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - A few weeks ago - Salah had his representitives approach Real Madrid. Maybe search on Hazard or Neymar. Interesting to see Klopp telling the press about his apology for substituting him - anyway, this "lack of respect" has caused his agent to request a meeting.

27 Dec 2017 19:54:23
VVD is just the money that we will receive in the summer for Coutinho IMO.

Believable7 Unbelievable13

27 Dec 2017 20:03:20
or the money that hasn't been spent in the last 3 years, im sure our net spend is nothing.

At Ā£75m heā€™s really got to perform and boss that back line or heā€™ll be pulled to shreds by the media and fans alike . If he does I can see him taking the armband in the not too distant future.

Let's hope he plays to his potential had has a glorious career at lfc.

Agree8 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 19:57:55
Ed1, has this come as a shock to you, I know weā€™ve very obviously been after him but I noted something youā€™d written this morning of wishing everyone would get over the vvd crap. I am absolutely not having a pop, Iā€™m just genuinely asking have the negotiations that have been going on been kept completely and firmly under wraps? Would make a nice change if so.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I haven't been about remember so yes it did, I have no idea if I would have known if I was, so I can't comment on how well the club kept it under wraps sorry. It should have been very easy for them to keep quiet as VVD only wanted Liverpool, the deal was done with minimum fuss as we met the asking price, there was little real chance for it to come out. It is long drawn out negotiations that tend to be the ones that become open secrets. Done quickly and there is little time for anyone to find out and pass on the info.}

27 Dec 2017 20:14:25
Thanks mate, letā€™s hope he turns out to be worth every penny hey. Hope youā€™ve had a good Christmas and the family havenā€™t had you up the wall too much! Onwards and upwards and all the very best for 2018, at least youā€™re not going to have the VVD, saga all through January!

27 Dec 2017 22:40:11
I'm just glad city didn't sign another good player to sit on bench
Good luck to him a lot of pressure on him.

Agree6 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 22:43:11
Eds/ reds. Who out of our current CBs would you play along side VVD? Assuming he walks straight into the first team?

Agree3 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 22:47:24
with Matip.

Agree0 Disagree3

27 Dec 2017 23:06:46
For me I would play Klavan, he has grown in stature and confidence this season, hasn't let us down, and if im not mistaken, he seems a lot fitter now. and faster. he's not your Alan Hansen type but I alwYs feel confident when he has the ball. and he's a good solid passer, no frills but solid.

Agree10 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 23:30:37
I think our best defence would be trent, gomez, VVD, robertson. But that said lacks some experience.

Agree6 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 02:15:18
Robertson and Trent no way good enough.
Even Moreno is better than Robertson, 8 out of 10 times, the 1 time being a Moreno howler day and the other day a Robertson MOM day.
And I think even Moreno is also not good enough.

TA may be a decent player, but full back he is not. Seen him play so many times and every time he disappoints. Way too stagnant without the ball. Never wanting the cabal back after passing, as if the ā€œthe ball is your courtā€ kind of mentality.

Now, Gomez is decent, not withstanding the few glaring mistakes he has made so far, which you hope he will l art from. Else he will just be another Moreno.
If I have to rely on him, I will probably do. Otherwise, there should be better options.

My take is Lovren need sorting out as whip he has his mistake, he is quite simply the best among them when he doesnā€™t make those mistake.
That said, Matip might be a safer choice, not necessary being good enough.

Agree0 Disagree13

28 Dec 2017 08:26:19
Yes but Lovren does make those mistakes and on a regular basis, Id like Gomez to be given the chance in the centre alongside VD, I do like Robertson and would keep TAA at right back for a few seasons so we don't have to buy another.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 09:03:44
There is a reason why Gomez starts ahead of TAA most of the time.
Gomez is a better defender.
I quite like him, as apart of his 2 silly mistakes (@ West Ham and Arsenal), he has improved. So will not begrudge him a shot at the position if it comes to be.

Again, there is a reason why Moreno starts ahead of Robertson. Didn't know this earlier of course, but as Robertson gets his chance now, it becomes much clearer.

There was not much of a debate when Finnan was the right back. That's the kind of full back we need.
On both sides.

As a stop gap or back up, I think TAA, Moreno, Robertson and even Clyne will do.
As a started, we need better.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Dec 2017 10:50:56
I think to write Trent off as back up or a stop gap is a little short sighted, the lad will keep learning and developing his defending and within a few years will be the player you think we need to buy. You have to bare in mind he spent much of his youth as a CM so to both transition to the first team and transition into a new position takes time. Got to let players make mistakes to get better.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 11:41:48
Oh, not writing TA off.
So many people speak so highly of him, and I would be Trimp to think that I am smarter than all.

But if I have to make a call, I am just saying he is no right back.
He may yet be a next SG, seeing how he rushing in to win the ball ahead of ayew and finish it with aplomb (and luck)

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Dec 2017 12:37:10
When Stevie G first played for LFc he played as right back. Never his natural position but he learnt fast. Young lads need playing time to adjust. TAA has incredible skill, but is clearly destined to play midfield, dead ball goals, real energy, tackles and determination etc. I see a young Stevie G learning his trade here. We should nurture him, he is going to be a huge talent and player for LFC.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 13:10:55
Tel 1949 - I do not dare challenged you call to be honest. Not with TA anyway, since I wasn't too impressed with SG when he first started too (even if there are many who impressed immediately, like Owen, Macca, Hyypia, Torres, Suarez, Alonso and etc. )

Apart from Owen, SG and TA probably start much younger as compared to the cohorts named.

Oh, I am bit more positive about Woodburn though.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 18:20:06
Hey to all the ends and everyone else that contributes to this page. I think the news on vvd is brilliant. 75m these days isn't a lot in all fairness, although still a sizable transfer fee. He's an upgrade on all our cb currently and let's not forget he was sensational at celtic, awesome for Southampton until we came knocking and obviously now he just wants the move so not been playing at his best. Massive well done and a great statement from fsg and Mr Klopp.

Believable10 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - who is this ā€œstatementā€ being made to?}

27 Dec 2017 18:29:06
Statement to the footballing world. Why so pessimistic ed002?

Agree8 Disagree4

{Ed002's Note - I am not pessimistic, but the "footballing world" is not going to care about Liverpool signing a player from Southampton.}

27 Dec 2017 18:30:12
A statement to the fans maybe or others that thought Klopp could not get the deal done? Iā€™m guessing here to be honest.

Agree7 Disagree4

{Ed002's Note - Right, I see.}

27 Dec 2017 18:32:41
I'd assume this is a statement of intent ed002, to fellow title rivals that we mean business and don't plan on only scraping the top4 in years to come, and also a statement to us fans that although they messed it up in the summer, at least they have managed to do it this time quite low key, without the hype around it like they foolishly made last time. Hopefully it's a statement that they've learnt how to deal with transfers properly.

Agree3 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - They won't care - it is simply a transfer of a much needed centre back. Did Liverpool care when Chelsea signed Morata or Manchester United Lukaku? Did they quiver when Spurs signed Sanchez or Arsenal Lacazette? The answer is no, they didn't care at all. Maybe it is not a "statement" at all, and just the transfer of a very good and much needed player?}

27 Dec 2017 18:34:51
It's going to be one great bank statement.

Agree18 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 18:44:11
Maybe Ed002 but Liverpool have finally got VVD and he may prove to be decisive in top four and inroads in Champions.

Agree10 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 18:45:16
I don't see how we would know if the ''footballing world'' would care or not without one of you explaining what the ''footballing world '' is.

Agree1 Disagree5

27 Dec 2017 18:45:26
I get what ed002 is saying. I get that as fans we get excited but take a step back and not make massive claims. It's not like are signing Suarez back, or Neymar. That would of been a "statement"!

That said I think he will be a decent signing. Less excuses now we seem to be getting players the manager wants. Just need to sign a GK now.

Agree3 Disagree9

27 Dec 2017 18:47:04
A statement to all the sarcastic -know it alls - (many on here) Who, even up to this morning were posting that VVD was ā€œ off to cityā€ and scoffed at the fans delusion that he might, just might, choose pool!

YNWA.

Agree10 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - he always wanted to join Liverpool and made that plain in the summer, it was only that Saints refused to sell him to us then that he never joined.}

27 Dec 2017 18:39:09
The statement of intent makes a return, is the intent to spend all the money they are about to receive for Coutinho?

Agree1 Disagree8

27 Dec 2017 18:42:32
Arrrr ed2 hope 2018 I'd a happier year for you mate you seem so down at the mo.

Agree8 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - I am fine thanks TH.)

27 Dec 2017 18:52:13
Goodbye phil.

Agree5 Disagree12

27 Dec 2017 18:48:16
I love you Ed002 you're a complete legend!

In terms of Virgil im buzzing with his signing i think he will become a massive player for us really happy we got it over the line eventually.

Agree8 Disagree2

27 Dec 2017 18:55:26
No they didn't quiver but considering at that time we were linked with Lacazette, Sanchez directly chose Arsenal over us and Morata you wouldn't have ever thought would even entertain us. now is a massively different story. All of the above wouldn't even get into our first team! And we all laughed when united bought Lukaku!

Agree7 Disagree4

27 Dec 2017 18:55:33
LFC can confirm we are stating that this statement states that Liverpool have entered into a new era of stasis, starting steadily, steering straight towards the top and are now in a state of shock at the sheer shimmer. oh i give up. No one cares what we do, get over it. Good signing, woo!

Agree6 Disagree2

27 Dec 2017 18:55:52
Spurs starting X1 vs Southampton was 147m. Alderweireld and Vertonghen cost a combined 23.5m. I know who i would rather have. Davinson Sanchez aswell.

Im my humble opinion Liverpools defending is down to Klopps coaching or lack of it.

Agree7 Disagree16

27 Dec 2017 19:15:16
Crazy money but another player signed who would get into ANY side in d country with Keita to follow. be happy people, top player signed forget the money.

Agree12 Disagree6

27 Dec 2017 19:38:26
Is it possible we spent more than we should have as a "make up" for what transpired in the summer? Just asking.

Agree7 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 19:49:28
Have you watched VVD playing for Holland recently?

A long way off where he was.

Agree2 Disagree4

27 Dec 2017 20:10:54
Big Emre, you think he would get in the spurs defence ahead of Vertonghen, Alderweireld and Sanchez? He wouldn't.

Agree5 Disagree11

27 Dec 2017 20:19:17
More the point Ellis Dee is what Alderweireld and Vertonghen would cost now not then.

Agree7 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 20:29:26
Thats a good and fair point but given your recent history with Southampton the Van Dijk fee is completely distorted. Although i think Van Dijk is good i honestly think all three of sours cbs are better. Sanchez cost 38m, Alderweireld should cost a lot more than Van Dijk but its all relative to the buying/ selling clubs. Personally i would say Van Dijks value would be around 35m but hey ho.

Agree2 Disagree2

27 Dec 2017 20:35:06
Heā€™d beat Sanchez he looks like a bit of a Matip. The other two bough are a great pairing if they left hey wouldnā€™t be the same players theyā€™re great but have a good understanding.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 20:43:29
Are you having a laugh LSD? Sanchez is woeful, Toby and Vertonghen on the other hand are class.

Agree2 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 21:08:23
Sanchez 'woeful'! Are you mad? He has been unbelievable for us soo far. I thought he might be a bit too raw but he is soo good. Reminds me of Ledley King a bit.

Agree2 Disagree5

27 Dec 2017 21:30:25
Alderweireld and vertonghen are class but yes, at his best he Van Dijk would get into the Spurs team ahead of them. don't judge by the player of the last couple of months he is top class.

Agree3 Disagree2

27 Dec 2017 21:40:36
Im not judging him on the last few months. He is nowhere near as good as any of the spurs cbs. You'll find that out soon and i will be back to say i told you so.

Agree2 Disagree7

27 Dec 2017 21:55:41
I donā€™t think you will LSD as anyone who thinks Sanchez has been class has not been watching the same player as I have. I remember the Europa final where he was completely hyped and was the worst player on the pitch. Good thing about football is we all have opinions. You keep Sanchez and Iā€™m happy with VVD (ps Iā€™ll chuck in Migs) šŸ˜€.

Agree2 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 22:39:57
Sanchez and morata wouldn't get in your first team lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 00:59:19
Ellis I cannot believe youā€™re trying to say Sanchez has been good for you! Heā€™s shocking and a large part of the reason youā€™re not as good as last season. Teams target him, heā€™s a weak link in your defence without a shadow of a doubt. Spurs fans do make me laugh.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 01:19:33
Furthermore Ellis Iā€™d actually suggest that bringing Sanchez into the conversation justifies the Ā£75mil price tag for VVD. Heā€™s definitely more than twice the player Sanchez is by a long way.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 01:29:14
Toe knee you must have been pissed watching that Europa final. Sanchez was by far MOTM and on the losing team. He's been pretty solid for spurs since. I rate him and Toby as being in the top 5 CBs in the premier league tbh. (before TA's injury obvs. )

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - if Sanchez was MOTM then you must have been watching a different game as he was the one responsible for giving the ball away repeatedly. He made so many mistakes I lost count.}

28 Dec 2017 02:12:16
Whatā€™s funny? Couts over Sanchez and Bobby over Morata. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 06:20:06
yeah what an amazing back line spurs have, so good they're below us in the league even with the leagues top scorer. VVD will take us up another level and propel us further ahead of the spuds.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 09:37:05
Cheers ed01 and Fruit Salah and no Brezteke certainly not drunk. Sanchez has not impressed me in the slightest and is one of the factors for spurs inconsistent form as poch is trying to shoe horn him into the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I agree with you Tk, not a fan of him at all. He is not in the same class as the two Belgians.}

27 Dec 2017 18:06:06
Been confirmed by the club! VVD is a red at 75 mil though i think that is a huge risk and if it doesn't work and we are not challenging next year for trophies klopp will be under massive pressure.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

27 Dec 2017 18:16:48
We are always challenging for trophies as every club is when the competition starts and managers are always under pressure. Whatever the money bandied about it it's a) irrelevant and b) obscene. You pay what the market rate is which goes up day by day and will do so until the bubble bursts. Opinions are like you know what's - we all have one. If this happens and it's a player that Klopp thinks can improve us then lets' be positive and see where it takes us.

Agree7 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 18:18:57
I really hope it works out well - I want a world class player for that money, I fear we've got merely a good one.

Agree1 Disagree6

27 Dec 2017 18:25:23
Great opportunity to try the back 3 with Matip, Gomez, and VVD. wingbacks with options on both sides and a defensive midfielder dropping in to the triangle. Good flexibility and mobility as well as hopefully quick ball movement.

I know Hendo gets a lot of grief but we seem more balanced and dynamic without him in the team, do you think he will stay on or a replacement may be looked at?

Agree2 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 18:29:27
He is quality I am made up but we need more simple as, we need a new qaulify established keeper who we can trust too not make errors, it's not easy but they out there, hope vvd form was cos his head was with us an not because of his injury hell of a lot of money.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 18:31:47
Crazy stuff. But credit where it is due to everyone at the club for resurrecting an all but dead transfer and beating Chelsea and City to him. Am amazed. I think I need a drink!

Agree5 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - They did not resurrect a transfer as they never spoke to Southampton about the player regarding a transfer. Manchester City has a lengthy list of CBs they are interested in. Chelsea's interest in a centre back is elsewhere.}

27 Dec 2017 18:36:25
I highly doubt we will change the system to accommodate VVD. Nearly impossible to incorporate the "Fab Four" in a three at the back system.

Agree1 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 18:39:19
I think he's a decent player and I'm not slating him here.

But SEVENTY FIVE MILLION QUID? ARE YOU MAD?

Agree4 Disagree5

27 Dec 2017 18:43:52
Kimos so by definition Swansea are challenging for the title before the season starts then? Without going into the money too much (sorry ed002) 75million is a huge fee (even in the inflated market) and is going to represent a huge investment by the club, one of which I would fully expect the club to think is enough to push the club from top four contenders to title challengers (next season, city are out of sight)
Klopp, when he joined, said he would win the title within three years and the club are trying to give him the tools. It is now down to him to put those tools into practice.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 18:56:08
Overpriced to say the least, that's suarez money! Guess we see if he picks himself up, he's been dog this season!

Agree4 Disagree2

27 Dec 2017 20:02:15
Do you want our competitors to spend all the big money and we just buy the Ā£10m and under defenders? We have tried to penny pinch and look what has happened. The signing is a game changer, just what we needed.

Agree6 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 20:02:43
The money goes up all the time WYRed. Each window. To compare prices of previous and recent windows makes little sense. I read earlier that he's not worth 1 Bale or 2 Salahs. At previous window prices Bale didn't have one and Salah is now worth considerably more than Ā£35 or 40m whatever it was. As fans we want the best for our teams and the money we have little or no concept of how it goes. Let it be and hope he turns out alright.

Agree3 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 20:38:44
Great singing Iā€™m dubious about the money spent and have thought there may well be cheaper options out there for a cheaper price but weā€™ve got him we wanted him first letā€™s get behind him. A top keeper or one with the potential to be top next and Iā€™ll never ask for anything again.

Agree4 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 00:29:41

Welcome to LFC, VVD. Club site have confirmed he will wear no 4 shirt. Interesting to see fans thoughts now after seeing quite a change in view on him the last few weeks. This is massive backing from FSG who I have had doubts about in the past. Let's hope Coutinho isn't used to balance the books.

Believable13 Unbelievable0

27 Dec 2017 18:21:33
Of course coutinho will be balancing the books mate. I think he's gone in January personally.

27 Dec 2017 18:51:41
75 Mill, 75 Mill. madness! I just hope Klopp turns him into a world beater. I didn't want Oxtail Chamberlain but he's looking a better player now, so fingers grossed for VVD.

Agree2 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 18:54:32
Think it looks to be a panic buy to me, no way is he worth 75mill, not sure this was the correct decision by liverpool! Got to be other CB's out there that are good, and not with an enormous price tag.

Agree1 Disagree8

27 Dec 2017 19:06:36

Ā£75 million is too much to spend!
Make up your mind Liverpool supporters.

James Pearce has confirmed it. He is normally pretty reliable. Would be a big statement if itā€™s true.

Don't know if I should be happy or not. Last year he was beast, ine of the best centre backs in the league. This season he is below avarage, hope it was all because of what happend in the summer. But still 75mil looks too much. If tranfer happends let's hope he can prove all the doubters wrong. YNWA.

We could, and should have bought a bloody good keeper for that.

So cheating works and FSG went back on their words did they? Or the apology was meant for the previous owners of S'ton not the current one - so it didn't matter now?

Agree1 Disagree6

{Ed002's Note - I am sorry? You think the apology to Southampton that FSG made in an attempt to avoid further charges of unprofessionalism and tapping up means nothing now? The charge remains on file with the Premier League as I have explained.}

27 Dec 2017 17:38:01
Ed002 can you clarify the bid being accepted? I've noticed it has come from Twitter so remain skeptical!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, I cannot confirm anything at this time.}

27 Dec 2017 17:41:15
Only thing I would say, some doubted Klopp over buying Ox and Salah, look how they turned out. If it is true, I am sure he will be a mega signing and hugely help our defence, but we need a Ā£75m goalkeeper more in my opinion. Our defence has improved this season, our no.1 keeper hasnā€™t and Karius isnā€™t world class.

Thanks anyway, I'm sure all will be revealed in due time! My pessimism makes me think this is the start of a bidding war.

I doubt anyone else is going to offer more for a player they know wants to join Liverpool. Yes the fee is high but 15million of that at least is an apology.

Reports this morning Eds that we have made a bid for De Vrij after deciding that VVD is too expensive. Any insight or confirmation?

Believable1 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - De Vrij is out of contract in the summer and Liverpool can speak to him about signing a pre-contract from next week. I am not aware of any "bid" at this time. Everyone told me that van Dijk has already agreed the move to Liverpool a week or so ago after Liverpool and Southampton agreed terms - didn't it say so on Twitter? And isn't he arriving on the same boat as the many, many other players who are joining next week? Goretzka, Kovacic etc.? I really don't know what to say about van Dijk. I have explained that there would be the need for the Liverpool owners to withdraw their grovelling apology issued to avoid charges from the Premier League in the summer and a loss of face for them. It would however prove to Klopp that his cheating works. You can try the search engine. I have explained Liverpool's interest in DEe Vrij for a long time - but have seemingly been wasting my time - there are other sides also interested in him.}

27 Dec 2017 12:06:20
Van Dijk is nailed on for City, so a big for De Vrij would make sense.

Agree1 Disagree12

27 Dec 2017 12:24:50
Howā€™s he nailed onto go city? Thereā€™s nothing to back this up there in the same boat as us.

Agree10 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 12:35:34
We didn't all tell you ed that VVD agreed to sign a week or so go Ed. A few people on here put it on for what ever reason. We are not all on Twitter were I presume the crap was started, I certainly am not so asked if you had heard anything and you said you would need to ask. I hope everyones posts asking about him don't make it on here as I can't be doing with it all again like last summer and im sure you don't want it.

De Vrij looks decent enough to me and I hope he arrives in Jan.

27 Dec 2017 13:25:25
Heā€™s hardly covered himself in glory the first half of this season though has he . I was a huge fan of VVD but canā€™t say Iā€™d be fussed if he went elsewhere now.

27 Dec 2017 13:36:47
i thought i read that de vrij signed a new contract not so long ago.

{Ed002's Note - Twitter perhaps?}

27 Dec 2017 15:31:10
The reason that VVD is nailed on for City?
(1) Itā€™s very well known that City want a centre half.
(2) They are very very interested in VVD.
(3) Southampton have apparently decided to cash in on VVD, but are extremely reluctant to deal with us.
(4) City can pay the transfer in full up front which aside from any other issues makes them a far more attractive proposition to Southampton.

Itā€™s obvious to most observers that VVD is highly unlikely to join us.

Agree1 Disagree6

27 Dec 2017 15:45:08
So heā€™s nailed on bec youā€™ve made a load of reasons upšŸ˜‚.

Agree4 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 15:49:46
Think it will depend on where the player wants to go. Who he will find a more attractive offer for himself. He might of choose us in the summer but who knows how he feels after our summer debacle.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 16:29:10
So even after Eds explanation people still think its a case of the player choosing us!? Get over it people its not happening full stop and no way the club are withdrawing there apology.

Agree0 Disagree2

27 Dec 2017 16:54:36
Edā€™s havenā€™t said it canā€™t happen but that we would have to withdraw are apology and mend bridges with Southampton Iā€™m not saying itā€™s going to happen but to say itā€™s a done deal either way is ludicrous.

Agree1 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 22:34:57
De Vrij would struggle in a team that plays a high line. While he has good anticipation, he is very very slow. I am surprised that Klopp would consider him as an alternative to VVD. They are very different players.
