Ed , ive read all these posts , and not sure who to beleive personally . . . .and just wondering , who are we in talks with and who we have agreed with teams players etc?

Benzema is someone we are after, but he wants conditions in his contract that the club is not happy to include, but Comolli is pushing for his signing. M'Vila, Wijnaldum and a number of youngsters are being very closely scouted and have had background checks etc done. I don't know of any others that are anything other than being monitored right now, I am sure there are others but I just don't know about them.}

what do you mean by override kennys wishes? ? {Ed001's Note - Kenny doesn't want to guarantee first team football, Benzema wants guaranteed first team football. Comolli wants the deal to go ahead anyway because he rates Benzema so highly.}

Benzema, Young, Marveaux, Adam, M'Vila and Enrique would set us up nicely for next season. Ed how likely do you think that is? {Ed001's Note - it is actually very possible, though I am expecting the Benzema deal to end up falling flat due to him wanting guaranteed first-team football.}

Ed, this is what makes me angry. Turan is a better player, available and really wants to come but we go for a 26 year old who just has pace. Ed, are man u interested in young or anyone else? {Ed001's Note - United have shown an interest, he is a cheap option for the left side of their midfield that is in need of some reinforcement. Personally I am not keen on Young, he has decent delivery, but all too often he doesn't use it and he is far too easily muscled out of a game. He has a tendency to hide when it gets a bit rough. But I trust Kenny's judgement of a player.}

Ed, do you think we will sign anyone else apart from these? Or what positions would we be looking to strengthen if you don't know the players? {Ed001's Note - we are certainly looking for more than just those 3, another wideman is a big possibility and a centre back.}
No LB or DM? Serious? We have Konchesky and Poulsen in those positions :S {Ed001's Note - We have Johnson, Wilson and Marveaux for left back. M'Vila is of interest for defensive midfield, but it is not a priority from what I can find out, as there is Lucas, Spearing and Coady for that position and Adam would play much deeper than Gerrard and Meireles do anyway. I still think it is highly likely M'Vila will be signed, but I wouldn't put money on it, if that makes sense?}

MR EM {Ed001's Note - everything can be signed outside of a window, but it would have to wait for the window to open before registration documents can change hands. I don't believe any deals have actually been signed as of yet though, I think it is just basic terms agreed on.}

Up until then I was never entirely sure if it was just a Football Manager dream or was possible in reality. So I checked after the stories appeared of him supposedly set for them, the only thing that can't be done is to transfer the registration over so they can play for their new club.}

Ed, what team do you think reina will go to and how much would he fetch? {Ed001's Note - I think Barca are a very distinct possibility, there is certainly interest in him from them. It would take 25m I believe to get him.}

Yep , I think he is one of them .
What do you think about Benzema? as in deal near done? from what I heard the King is not too keen.
In december he was a possibility because he was cheap and very eager to move, but now (because he played few games for Madrid) he is insisting on guarantees for first team football , something Kenny is not happy with. -he is having to do enough politics with Joe Cole.

Ed and Macca - any news on DM signings? M'villa or Moussa Sissoko? {Ed001's Note - we looked at Sissoko before we got Poulsen, as far as I know we dropped our interest in him after that. M'Vila we are closely monitoring and have spoken to the club about his availability.}

Thats fair enough ed, but I don't think I could swallow another Torres type episode for the remainder of the season. Against Sunderland I was tempted to run out of the Kop and kick Torres up the backside, I don't want to be having similar thoughts about reina.

I said in January that young was coming to anfield as I got told by very reliable person, when it didn't happen I first thought it was kk had taken over, but then warner said in the interview that things change and you get ready to announce someone and then something happens. I persume this is the signing he was talking about especially after what macca has just posted. Its good to hear from macca again.

I am going to commit a sin and disagree with the Macca .
Benzema : I don't think will happen , in the sense is that not all individuals involved are happy with him as a target or other wise . I might be wrong and only time will tell .
I heard about a Hungarian kid and 2 dutch youngsters , not sure of the names though?

His body language is starting to suggest he wants out to me. The old spanish dummy's starting to slip from his mouth. Two goals that shouldn't have been today and ive noticed a bit of the Torres attitutude emerging in Reina. He'll be away at the end of the season that's as clear as the days long. I said Torres was engineering a move after the Chelsea game and the usual misguided 'get back to your manure site' responses ensued! {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware, Adam is all agreed, just needs to sign on the dotted line, Young is agreed with Villa but we have to sort personal terms though he seems to be keen by all accounts and Benzema we are in talks with Madrid. I don't know why he never mentioned Marveaux, as far as I aware he is also just in need of a signature, but his operation is the hold up. Maybe Macca has some different info with regards to him? Perhaps his recovery is not going well? I haven't heard anything for a while regarding him myself.}
If that is true then we exciting times for sure. Did you hear this and macca confirmed it or did macca tell you and you believe him? If we do get Benzema I have no idea where he'd fit in. I don't rate Young but he has a great final ball which will suit Carroll but goes missing to often for me. {Ed001's Note - other than what he just posted I have not spoken to Macca since the transfer window shut. Nothing I have said comes from Macca.}

I don't know what other defenders we are interested in than Richards, people never tend to talk about those as they aren't as exciting. It takes a lot of digging to get info on them, and that is not always possible to do.}

Thanks for your reply ED, but when you say 'sign on the dotted line' do you mean a pre-contract? Or do we have to wait until the window opens until they can be finalise? I don't know how it works when signing someone outside of the transfer window?

If so i think that's great news as i think young with 1 year on his contract will be a good price come the summer. Blackpool really struggled the other day without Adam which shows that he has what it takes to be a success for us. The only one i am unsure of is Mercedes Benz-ema. Maybe suarez would be pushed wide or maybe hes just back up. {Ed001's Note - it was Macca. Benzema is wanted to be a first team player. The team needs options, it doesn't have that currently. You need more than two top strikers to win trophies.}

So much doom and gloom. Between January and the end of Jan Kenny is going to be evaluating every player on LFC books. When the summer arrives we will start the clearout and bring in more quality. I trust Kenny more than Hodgson and in fact Benitez when choosing players. Remember its harder getting rid of players than signing them. Outs for the summer will include present squad and also we are still paying wages for players out on loan;

Ed, just watched the lfc highlights. Skrtl was outmuscled not for the first time this season and i don't rate him at all. He is not good enough whilst carra is past it. Ed, do you think KK knows skrtl isn't good enough and do you think kk will continue to play carra in the first 11? {Ed001's Note - yes, he knows Skittles is not good enough, hence the January move for Richards. Carra is there because we don't have anyone to replace him with right now. Too many youngsters is not the way to go and we don't have an experienced replacement.}

Sanchez will NOT be coming to us. United have a deal in place and then well hes basically a done deal to them.
Look LFC supporters', Right now we can't get hazards, sanchez's and etc, but we can get very good players who will help improve us and we Will' be challenging for the PL soon. Once we start rolling again, and challenging then we will get the Very best but it will take a couple of seasons. World class players eat up the budget and less players are then bought. A first 11 has a better chance of winning the PL, than a team with 3 world class, a couple descent and the rest average. We saw this when we were challenging a few years back. We are looking to buy talent that will nuture into possibly world class so be patient and you will be celebrating once more. Ed, would you agree?

Ed, I have always had a feeling Reina will go in the summer. And still do. Perhaps not bad getting away from the spanish connection.
If he left, who do you rate we could get and who would be your choice.
I have always fancied Foster, and after watching him closely I almost think he is the best keeper in the league this season. There are a lot of fine young keepers out there!
We were ok defensively before him & will be fine without him once his time comes to leave.
I'd go all out for Neuer myself but Germans don't often leave their home land - i imagine he'd make an exception for a club like ours but only if Bayern don't move for him too.

Are you saying we're paying a scout who only watches players near to his home? I'm not saying we're not interested but if this is the set-up for Liverpool where we encourage our scouts to watch people near to their homes I will be very disappointed.

Can i just point out that Diego doesn't play for Juventus anymore! He left in the summer! He now plays back in Germany with Wolfsburg so he won't be coming to Liverpool in any Aquaman deal!

I really feel it is time for a big overhaul at LFC. Players who've not proved they have quality- Jovanovic, Poulsen etc need to go. The owners need to bring in quality players in the summer or next season we'll finish out of the CL places again. From what i've heard (from a reliable source) Yann M'vila will be coming in as well as Charlie Adam. Taiwo will not sign for LFC as he prefers a move to Benfica or Juve. Joe cole looks to be on his way out(possibly to newcastle as part of a cash player swap for Enrique) unless he improves by the end of the season.

Today's game clearly shows the deficiencies in our team/ squad. Kenny & Comolli already know it's weak, and have identified the following positions deemed needing strengthening:
CM- Adam wants to move here, and we're keen on him. Especially because he's on his last year of contract, could get him cheap. We also need a replacement for Aquilani. This deal looks likely.
DM- Yann M'Vila is the top target for DM, been watched by LFC for Rennes' last 3 games. Top target for the DM position.
LW- Rumours say that Arda Turan is fast becoming LFC's top transfer target for the wing. However Comolli has been closely watching Mathieu Valbuena of Marseille. He has only one year left on his contract, increasing LFC's interest.
RW- Ashley Young has been identified for the RW position. We wanted him in Jan, but AV refused to sell him for 16m, they were asking for 19m, which we wouldn't pay. With 1 year left on his contract in the summer, he could be going quite cheap, increasing LFC's interest.
CB- This all depends on the sale of Skrtel, time will tell if we get a new CB or not.
LB- Rumours say that LFC have agreed a fee with Newcastle for Jose Enrique for 6m, with Comolli having watched him too, this seems a likely transfer.
Backup ST- Rumours say Goran Pandev is being monitored by LFC.
Kenny immediately wants to sell all the junk in our squad: Poulsen, Jova, Konchesky, Aquilani, Degen, Insua, Maxi and possibly Skrtel will be shown the door. Also Kenny will get a 2 year contract at the end of the season.

CM- Adam wants to move here, and we're keen on him. Especially because he's on his last year of contract, could get him cheap. We also need a replacement for Aquilani. This deal looks likely.
DM- Yann M'Vila is the top target for DM, been watched by LFC for Rennes' last 3 games. Top target for the DM position.
LW- Rumours say that Arda Turan is fast becoming LFC's top transfer target for the wing. However Comolli has been closely watching Mathieu Valbuena of Marseille. He has only one year left on his contract, increasing LFC's interest.
RW- Ashley Young has been identified for the RW position. We wanted him in Jan, but AV refused to sell him for 16m, they were asking for 19m, which we wouldn't pay. With 1 year left on his contract in the summer, he could be going quite cheap, increasing LFC's interest.
CB- This all depends on the sale of Skrtel, time will tell if we get a new CB or not.
LB- Rumours say that LFC have agreed a fee with Newcastle for Jose Enrique for 6m, with Comolli having watched him too, this seems a likely transfer.
Backup ST- Rumours say Goran Pandev is being monitored by LFC.
Kenny immediately wants to sell all the junk in our squad: Poulsen, Jova, Konchesky, Aquilani, Degen, Insua, Maxi and possibly Skrtel will be shown the door. Also Kenny will get a 2 year contract at the end of the season.

Just assume we don't get any European football for next season, Ed do you think we can still attract world class players that every team is after. It's a big ask for them to join us while we're only in Europa league but it's an even bigger ask to join us with no European football. also it will be very hard to keep key players like Renia. I doubt he'd stay if we can't offer any European football. {Ed001's Note - it depends on the player, this is such a stupid question in all honesty. Every player makes a decision based on his own preferences and ideals. Some want to play for a big club, which Liverpool are, some want to play for the money, which is why they sign for City, some choose the team they think most likely to win things, which is why Spurs had a bit of trouble getting a striker. Not everyone cares about European football, though it is a plus. Sorry I wasn't meaning to have a go, it has just been asked and answered thousands of times. Liverpool got Suarez no trouble, the likes of Turan and Honda were sending out come and buy me pleas to us in January when things looked a lot worse.}

Away from the game today, just wanna say if we bring in Yann M'vila in the summer I will be absolutely delighted. I have seen him a few times for France and Rennes and from what I've seen he's been quality. V-Good at breaking up play but also has a decent passing range. I like Lucas but would definitely have M'vila over him. Anyone else who has seen him please comment whether you agree or think I can't spot a player to save my life!

Ed, I heard were keen to sign Young (18 mill) & Adam(10 mill) in January. Some of the eds say we'll go for them in the summer. I would expect the prices to be reduced significantly as they will both have 12 months remaining on their contracts & their clubs will not want to loose them on a Bosman. Ed, can Young play on either wing, becuase we need a winger that can play on either wing.

Hi Ed is it true that liverpool are keen on signing diego as i don't believe that is what liverpool need at the min he been out of his best form for a few years now and when things are going wrong he doesn't do much. His believe to have fallen out his team mates and it may affect us if he were to join and he didn't get what he wanted we need to sign kenny on a new deal to stay on then sign two wingers and left back. surez to score vs west ham {Ed001's Note - I have not heard anything regarding an interest in Diego, I think people are wishful thinking again with regard to Juve not being able to afford Aquaman.}

HOW TO WATCH LIVERPOOL ON THE INTERNET
1. Install the browser Google Chrome.
2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.
3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.
4. Click on extensions
5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.
6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.
7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)
8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.
You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every Liverpool match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.
Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.
The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

I don't think you should get rid of 2 centre backs and certainly not to bring in the average Shawcross I agree with the others though. I would love to see Cole improve enough to warrant keeping him but I expect you're right he will he will probably have to move on.

Liverpool Join Race for Yann M’Vila
Liverpool have upped their efforts to try an bring Rennes' midfield player Yann M'Vila to Anfield. Damien Comolli has been keeping an eye on the player who is seen as being one of the main forces behind Rennes determined pust up the league table. Napoli, AC Milan and Juventus will be keeping a close eye on the progress Liverpool are making.

Can we all agree that the owners are likely to invest if the funds will improve us and to add to our "pot" outgoing sales?
If so does it not make sense to buy 2 or max. 3 very very good players rather than 5 or 6 good players. Now I'm well aware that we need strengthening in more than 2 or 3 positions, but for the last 10 years we have gone for quantity rather than quality (a few obvious exceptions). Now I for 1 would ideally buy 2 wingers and a good left back- I would hope we could afford between 60-70 mill for these and if we can't get a top target- don't settle for average 10mill players (a la riera, diouf, cisse, etc.)
As for other positions 3rd striker, cb, dm just trust the youth and then see next summer. All this quick fix stuff in 1 summer is why we have failed in the past- no panic buys this year please!
Any thoughts lads? If we can't get mata, Sanchez, hazard and the other big stars should we settle for the likes of young or wait for the next star in 6-12 months?

Any update on Kuyt's new contract ed? He is so the Craig Johnston of this era in that he covers so much ground, breaks up so many opposition moves deep in their half, creates many chances. .yet fans are often on the fence about whether he is worth his place. Give him another 3 years. . he may not be a first 11 next season if any of the suggested big moves happen, but he most certainly adds significantly to the squad. Btw, the u-18's look fantastic with so much talent coming through. . hopefully we get as lucky as Utd did with their bumper crop of homegrown talent that has won them so many titles. . {Ed001's Note - he should be set to sign his new deal, no idea when, but there doesn't seem to be any major problems that I have heard of anyway.}

Ed - if we end up in a bidding war with Man U for Ashley Young, any idea as to whether he is more keen to join us (playing time?) over them? Also heard rumours Young may prefer to move south where his kids school and he currently commutes from. Finally is Gervinho viewed as a back up in case we don't get Young? {Ed001's Note - he prefers to go down south is all I know, I haven't a clue who he would prefer though. I personally feel we bought 2 "world class" strikers in Jan, Carroll and Suarez, I feel will be a great combo.
As for Young, not convinced like many. Would not be surprised to see us go for N'Zogbia in summer, who I think is having a good season and would improve the team.
As we paid so much for our strike force, clubs will try to push prices up on our targets! But we have seen that Comolli and Dagliesh will negotiate hard, but if we want a player we will get them. They will not however be going for Messi and Ronaldo type stature of player, they wNt the next Messi or Ronaldo I think! Eds?
