Coutinho flying out 2mrw for medical, and thomas ince was in the crowd today!!
Nick from birmingham

Tom Ince has been seen at a number of LFC games recently. It might be because he is actually a LFC fan?

Inter president confirmed tonight that Coutinho to Liverpool is done deal.
McB

27 Jan 2013 21:01:51
Spurs are in for Paulinho of Corinthians, will this affect the Coutinho deal to Liverpool?

Jake

Rumors that Inter going to bid 20 million euros for Paulinho...not sure if Spurs can match that. From what I've read, the Inter fans think their management is obsessed with Paulinho

27 Jan 2013 21:00:44
Thomas ince at today's game - we close ? I've read all the posts I know bout the reading bid etc but has anything changed in last 24hrs

27 Jan 2013 21:34:57
Christopher samba will be joining us for 8 mil while ince will be done deal he will then be loaned for rest of season to blackpool well also get buck and and Redmond for 5 mil and loan them back and coutinho will sign Monday

Does this mean he would be the highest played player at Liverpool then considering he is on 120k a week plus at anzhi

No he is ready to see down his wages as he is unhappy In russia I also expect Coates to leave to gremio

27 Jan 2013 21:33:25
Hi Eds

Have Reading bid for Ince?

Thanks

Marc {Ed001's Note - I have no idea, sorry.}

Coutinho is now at meal wood receiving his medical just need to sort his work permit out and the deal is done

He's a termite???

Aww. Was hoping he would be at 'melwood' thought we had this one in the bag.

Mart86

I would say Liverpool would want the work permit sorted 1st before he has his medical

FowlerGod.

What is he having for breakfast?

Nreds

He is a termite! Classic! definitely a blunose, the original poster!

Not always the case fowlergod although I don't think he's been melwood yet

Ed, Do you know what's happening with Moussa Sow? {Ed001's Note - no sorry.}

27 Jan 2013 20:03:02
Hi eds,

A bit of news I'm Hearing is that Tom Ince was at the game. Bu my question for you Is if we miss out on Ince would we then go for an Experienced type player? Even if we do sign him Is there any chance we still can get an old head in possibly on loan?

GAM# {Ed001's Note - I don't know who we would target if we don't get him. I do believe a loan signing would be possible either way.}

Ince wouldn't have been impressed then

Ed001 do you reckon Ince was at the game as a "supporter" or do you it has something to do with us trying to get him to the club? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed001's Note - was he really there? If he was, I don't see any relevance in a player going to watch a former team play on a day off.}

There is a pic of him at the game . I presume its genuine. Is this a sign he is coming to us as he's made the effort to attend the game ?
Guinnessred

Any ideas on who we might be interested in for the potential loan? I heard Jeffren but that appears to have quietened down and I think Ed2 mentioned it was because Sporting were unwilling to loan, preferring a straight up sale.

RedSam {Ed001's Note - I am sorry, I don't know who it is, I know we tried to get Coutinho initially on loan, so clearly we are exploring the option, just not sure who else we would target other than Jeffren.}

hey there eds. Appreciate the site, blah blah, gratuitous pleasantries. This just a question really, I would value your input. Is there anyone in the epl interested in khune, the south african keeper. Had another great game tonight, usually does. Definately the best current product of SA football bar steven pienaar. Khune; acrobat, dominant and commanding in the box, sharp, distributes, and has genuine skill on ball in open play, vision with the kick and throw to go with it. It just itches me, because I see him and think, he would be great in a BR team setup should the likes reina leave, given the current rumours, genuine or not. Anyway great site, addictive, like a lab rat with a button for food pellets, you give me what I need. Look forward to your opinion, or anyone else's who has seen him in action. CapeApe. {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Been watching African cup of nations.

Great game!? It was his fault for the second goal... went through him!

27 Jan 2013 19:49:13
Hi Eds,

A question more than a rumour. Marcotti just said on ESPN while in the studio watching the Inter game that the Coutinho deal is not quite 100% done and is dependant on Inter signing Paulinho. My question is how far down the line are Inter in signing Paulinho? And if they don't manage to sign him how will that directly effect our move for Coutinho?

Thanks

Sean {Ed002's Note - They have had one bid rejected but he has horribly complex ownership issues and another club is interested in him as well. I don't know the answer to teh second question.}

This would be a complete contradiction to what Massimo Moratti himself has said, he said that the deal is good for both player and Inter and this would allow him funds to go for his own targets, however he has said that Paulinho at the moment is too expensive but will see what happens in the next few days, this is indicative of the deals not being reliant on one another

Have a good evening all

Jamie

Hi eds is the david villa transfer now dead, because my source reckons it will still happen, I appreciate your response thank in advance {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any David Villa transfer to Liverpool.}

2 words, no chance

David villa is 31, yes, absolute quality player however, his wage alone will be far and above what we were paying Cole plus 15million for somebody of that age is something that fsg would not agree too, and I totally agree. We are building a team for the next couple of seasons. We are all known for being the best and most knowledgeable fans in the land, patience will prove Rodgers to be a very astute manager. I expect in the summer for us to (hopefully) sign McCarthy who is strong and mobile and has very good technique I would also expect a versatile defender such as diakite who can play both lb and cb. A second cb, possibly Ashley Williams, purely based on Rodgers knowledge of the player and as Rodgers has stated, he needs communicators on the pitch and skrtel unfortunately isn't a carragher. I hope suso goes on loan as he needs a run of games to get that match confidence and I believe pacheco, spearing, Carroll and Coates are gone/going.

If villa goes anywhere it will be arsenal and not us .

27 Jan 2013 15:42:38
Hi Ed's, keep up the good work, we all, we'll most of us, on here appreciate all the work and info you provide.
Do you think there is any chance of an announcement from the club today re. Continho transfer, or wait until they confirm the signing, ie work permit, contract etc. are in place?

In Brendan we trust. {Ed002's Note - I cannot see they are in a position to announce anything just yet.}

27 Jan 2013 15:42:08
Hi Eds. Does the Reading bid for Ince include a loan back agreement and do you believe that is what we are proposing?

Jason {Ed002's Note - Reading want Ince immediately. I don't know what the proposal from Liverpool will be.}

27 Jan 2013 15:36:33
Countinho will be at melwood tomorrow for a medical. .
The following night ince will sign then will complete a medical the following day later..
And it been a strong rumour is that a loan signing will be arriving on the last day of the transfer window strong rumour is its suppose to be jeffren or van wolfvinkel sorry for is last name..
Thanks
Ynwa

Should be BR going for a medical to have his head examined, I can't imagine why any player would want to come to LFC under the management of BR he isn't good enough for a club as big as LFC, Henry & co I hope you were watching the pathetic performance the fans were short changed yet again, I also read in the paper that BR was forking out his own money to dine the players maybe he should repay the fans that travelled to Oldham to watch that rubbish

Are you suggesting that Liverpool will sign Ince and THEN make him undergo a medical? Cart before the horse situation in that case.

They'll hardly sign ince before a medical is done

Ince isn't coming which is good.

Why lambast BR, he has got us playing nice football, and the players seem happy. Think what we have had over the last 3 years....

27 Jan 2013 15:16:49
ed now tht reading have bid for tom ince will that force our hand move faster and meat there asking price?

thanks

bigW {Ed002's Note - Now would be the time to talk again.}

Let Reading have him if he is fool enough to chose them over us, I certainly won't lose any sleep.

I still don't think he will arrive.

Adam

Dont want him

27 Jan 2013 14:39:54
Eds, have Readings bids ruined our chances of getting Ince For the low fee we were pushing for? {Ed002's Note - Not at all.}

27 Jan 2013 13:26:00
Eds I'm just wondering as to your thoughts on the potential European league, for example is it something that is expected ASAP or are we talking 10-15 years? And would say a league of 20 include a team currently fighting for top 6 in England? Would you expect that a team from every current league in European comps has a representative or would they go mix and match the best and biggest budgets for example maybe 5 from England 3 from Germany 2 from Spain 3/4 from Italy? That league is already looking pretty full without the usual awful standard that gets into the CL because they allow teams from Wales to take up a space in that? Would we be overlooked?

Swampmonster {Ed002's Note - Without going in to too much detail: (a) A number of clubs take the opportunity a once or twice a year to discuss various issues including changes in rules, television rights, the power of UEFA, exploitation issues for new technology streams, etc.. These discussions, the last of which were in late August, also always turn to the possibility and structure of a breakaway pan European league. Several are ex-G14 clubs, several are not, and some clubs decline involvement in such discussions. (b) The plan is that at some point a number of clubs would break away from their national leagues and UEFA. They accept that they would be banned from all existing club competition and the players would initially be banned from all FIFA competitions as well, but know that FIFA would be looking to negotiate in any case. It would be the end of UEFA in all probability and UEFA are very aware of this. It would also result in a restructuring of many of the national leagues. (c) The clubs would renegotiate their television rights, rights of distribution via other streams etc.. (d) It remains the greatest fear of UEFA and all major national authorities that one day this will happen.

There is every likelihood that the big money from television, sponsorship etc. would go with a breakaway league. It would completely rupture the operations of UEFA and I would expect it would require national associations like the FA to restructure their leagues. Nobody wants this but it is the eventual consequence I would expect. If I had to speculate, I would think (1) you might eventually see something like five or six EPL teams leave for two-tier pan European league; (2) the Premier League would be disbanded as an organisation; (3) the FA would restructure in to two 20 team divisions with lower leagues regionalised as they were many years ago; (4) FIFA would ban all players from the breakaway teams from International football - perhaps rescinding that position to stop FIFA breaking up as well. I could also see many teams lose their professional status. I would think we are probably 10 years away from any significant move at this time.}

Interesting thoughts. I generally am opposed to a European Super League, but its interesting that ed touched on the regionalisation of the British leagues as a result.

Ive actually thought that a return to regionalised leagues in english football would be of benefit to everyone. Keep the premier league, the championship, but then merge Div 1 & 2 (or 3 and 4 as I call them) with the BS Premier, and split those into three regional leagues, north south and central, with direct promotion to the regionalised feader leagues.

Financial benefit to clubs with far less travelling, but also with that means that away supporters are able to attend more matches and increased attendances for clubs. Possibilities of regional television deals etc.

Dim

I don't think it would be a good idea with no small teams theres no magic imagine the fa cup with no teams like brentford

That sounds like footballs apocalypse Ed. A horror story if I ever did hear one... lets just hope we lift the Premier League before then and finish with more titles than the Mancs HAHA

Would this all happen because the teams that would be in it just want more money or is there anything else behind it. I would imagine its just because if the money.

Perth Red {Ed002's Note - It is not just money, but control. The system needs a shake up.

Going back a couple of posts about the remnants of such a change. For me an eventual a breakaway pan-European league would force the restructuring of many of the national leagues, possibly resulting in a British league with perhaps only a couple of professional tiers and then regionalised amateur leagues below that. Financially I do not see that so many pro sides can be sustained within the sport which, like it or not, will see more and more money going in to the highest levels of the game. Governments will ensure that grassroot sports get funding but everything in the middle (Southern, Northern, Conference, Division 2, Scottish Divisions 1-3, League of Wales will not get the funding needed to continue on any sort of professional basis. For me, Rangers should recognise this and put their efforts in to getting back to the SPL in order to secure an eventual place in the top two tiers of a British professional league that will need to flourish without perhaps six sides that have gone down the pan-European route - and have gone for good.}

Cheers eds once again enlightening us, I think it would be great all the best players would want to play for those teams no CL football to claim the reason to be moving for money it would be a real leveller for the top teams.

Swampmonster

We're struggling to compete in the Premier league with the likes of Stoke & West Brom, so god help us against the likes of Barcelona, Bayern & Madrid!

27 Jan 2013 13:10:28
Eds, do you know anything about the rumours going around that inter may cancel Coutinho transfer if they are unable to sign paulinho? Is there anything to it or just more media rubbish?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of that. Sorry.}

Can inter do that? Surely if a price is agreed it constitutes as a binding contract between the clubs?

Surely ed they can't cancel the transfer when a fee has been agreed? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - The signing of the contract is the key issue and that won't happen until after a medical and after a work permit has been obtained.}

Okey, so until the contract is signed Inter are within their rights to cancel the deal? Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - Of course - the same as buying a house, a new car or whatever. And it happens quite often.}

Okey, sounds reasonable! Cheers mate! Scouserseb

Inter have agreed to the fee so they are obviously happy with the deal.

Is the 8.5 million quoted correct eds?

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - I understand it is not - but I have dealt with that a couple of times already.}

Morning eds, love the site, more of a question than rumour, if we were to get a champions league spot this season does that mean reina wil stay or wil he still be looking for a move to barca? Cheers keep up the great work {Ed002's Note - I would expect Reina to move in teh summer - I would not be so sure he will go to Barcelona.}

Isn't Pepe Reina likely to be going to Atletico Madrid because Barcelona's first choice is Thibaut Courtois?

Ed,
do you reckon it will be to Athletico Madrid ?
also who do you reckon will replace him ?
I know a lot will reckon Ter stegen but I don't think he will leave Germany. I would love Kraft or Begovic do you reckon we have a chance of getting them ? {Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid would seem the most likely as Courtois will be leaving in the summer. I have no idea right now who will replace him.}

Ed002 if pepe leaves in the summer who do you see Liverpool going for to replace him? {Ed002's Note - It would simply be speculations at this time. Let's get through January.}

Reina loves Barcelona understandable.

27 Jan 2013 12:02:42
Reina will leave this window, been told that barca deal has been agreed! But no replacement has been identified as of yet, BR was hoping to keep Pepa till at least the summer but Liverpool need the cash for Ince deal!
Personally I would look a stokes keeper ;)

Of course it makes sense. Let's move on our first choice keeper without a replacement so we can afford a winger who isn't really needed that much.

We should be looking at the young German keepers all are under 23yrs old and good.

Marc Ter Stegan
Kevin Trapp
Oliver Baumann
Leno

BigD

Personally I'd examine your thought processes.With the transfer window nearing closure we'll let our 1st choice keeper leave without even the slightest idea of who to replace him with.Utter drivel Mr!

The Plank

I agree with you on Stokes keeper Begovic. I think he is one of the best keepers in EPL.

Oh yeah and Stoke would sell Begovic to us at the drop of a hat and at a very low price.HAH!

Wait until the summer and try and pach Begović. We'd have Butland by then too, who'd presumably be loaned out.

Brad Jones is absolutely shocking!

Agree jones is poor, really think mignolet from Sunderland should be a target for us. Reina won't go till the summer for sure

Andy Carroll will sign for Newcastle on Tuesday for 12million pounds. 100% information this lads.. please post ed's and gimme your thoughts ?

I will post instead, this is an untrue fact and it is impossible. Andy played as a sub against man city and has played for west ham.

The rules state no more than 2 clubs in a season, so sorry, get off FIFA even there it's not possible

Sweetcorn

Why should we sell for 12m when West Ham have a loan to buy deal for 17m?

Chaki

Huh? And not play? You can't play for 3 teams in one season. Can't happen.

Don't think Carol can play for a third club this season so would have thought a summer move more likely than a move now. Besides he is still injured and any move would surely hold more value if he was fit?!

Andy Carroll has played for 2 premiership clubs already this season he isn't allowed to play for a third. Why do people keep making this up. Maybe in the summer but not now.

Mart86

He's on loan at west ham muppet !

100% true and you fail to leave a Name..

And anyway he is on a loan to buy deal at west Ham for around 17m so why would we allow him to go for 12m to Newcastle that held us to ransom and we were stupid enough to pay what they asked..

BigD

The loan is a YEAR'S to W Ham plus he's still injured so I'll rule your claim out right now.

The Plank

Good luck Carroll. Love to see you back at Liverpool.

Hi eds great work, this isn't a rumour but just a question, have Liverpool ever shown interest in hamsik? Great player and think he would fit into BR style of play, I think all other Liverpool fans on here need to stop jumping the gun when it comes to speculation, things are finally coming into place I think we all need to get behind BR now and the fsg, I honestly think given two to three years we'll be challenging for the title and top european honours again, and its only what this great city, club and fans deserve

YNWA
Awleedsred {Ed002's Note - If Hamsik were to move then Manchester City. Chelsea, PSG and AC Milan would be the likely choices but I doubt it will be this month. There has been no interest shown by Liverpool.}

Hamsik has confirmed his commitment to Napoli in the last few days. He won't be moving
Paulo

Liverpool are set to swoop to sign highly-rated young Tottenham midfielder Alex Pritchard, according to the London Evening Standard.

Very good player, was my brothers school mate no lie. He went to aveley secondary school in essex :D

27 Jan 2013 11:20:45
With you saying on an earlier comment probably just one more signing is that including or excluding coutinho which would rule out ince? {Ed002's Note - One more after Coutinho.}

27 Jan 2013 10:48:22
Ince will 100 percent sign!!
Redmanluka

27 Jan 2013 09:49:40
Few reports of Reading offering £8mill for Tom Ince. LFC can't really lose out on this one. If he doesn't join us we get a nice slice of his sell on fee.

Personally I hope he joins us, he has shown character and drive since he left us and he's grown up a little. Golden opportunity for him now if he grasps it. Despite comments from from his dad, i'm sure he will make his own mind up.

LFC are just about to start a new chapter and he can either join the revolution or watch it unfold from the sidelines. The choice is his, but we have a great alternative lined up from Schalke either way.

Tel 1949

You mean so that he can go from a team in the Championship to a team who stand a very good chance of going into the championship...

I wouldn't, would you, if a club that was there to begin challenging for top 4, would you?

I suspect this is the Oysten ramping up the price lever... personally.

I'd like to see him here again as his progress is good and to attract enough of a bid from another club to compensate for the 35% sell on Oysten would need a Sturridge type fee to satisfy his ego - which nobody is likely to stump up...

Suffolk'n Red

It's win / win for LFC.
We get Ince for 4.5 / 5 m or less if we wait until end of season
Or he goes to another club and we get 35% of the 8 m + fee - approx 3 m
I hope we have put this clause in all sale of young players contracts

I think tom ince is nailed on from us..lets say reading offered 8 million which would not be all straight cash nd apperance nd option to pay in installments would mean most of cah blackpool receive would go to Liverpool due to 35% sell on claues if true. Nd some part of transfer fee payable to ince of top of that.for 8 mill it would be around 2.8 mill so Blackpool would be vetter off with up front 4-6 mill from us.

We have draxler lined up??

We don't want ince back he will be a small fish in a big pond we need world class nor young up and coming and tbh he wnt be as good for us as he is for blackpool

I don't think its Ince's decision if it was I'm sure he'd be back by now. More Blackpool wanting more $.

Rk

From Schalke?
Draxler? or Schurrle?

Chaki

Surely Ince would be behind Raheem and the other first team wide players which would mean he would not get much game time so why would he come here and why do we seem so keen to get him? I suspect a bit of smoke and mirrors stuff going on here.

Let Reading waste 8m!!!

27 Jan 2013 09:35:12
Hi Eds,
A friend of mine who is annoyingly always right has told me Pacheco & Suso are going on loan to Blackpool as part of Ince deal. Any news on this? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of the plans for loans right now.}

Pacheco I might believe but I'd have doubts about Suso on loan.

The Plank

Can't loan 2 players to the same side. Maybe it's one or the other...

27 Jan 2013 09:39:11
just heard off the official Liverpool website that wilfried bony is free to go to either Liverpool or chelsea {Ed002's Note - Wilfried Bony has been of interest to Newcastle and has been a player Chelsea have been considering for a while. Recently there has also been varying degrees of interest from Marseille, Aston Villa, QPR, Liverpool, Everton and a couple of German sides (Hamburg and Schalke) but of these only Marseille seems to still have interest. It would not be a surprise to see interest from other teams, possibly Napoli and Roma. The player has said he would like to join Chelsea. Whilst an offer has been made by Newcastle efforts are still being made to get interest from Russia, any move in January is by no means certain and he will be away at the ACON until the middle of February.}

By "free to go" I'm assuming you mean they'll let him leave not that he can go on a free transfer?

The Plank

27 Jan 2013 08:59:01
I saw some clips of Jano Ananidze on you tube, look a very handy player, we did have interest a few years back, has this all gone? {Ed002's Note - Ananidze won't be moving to Liverpool this week.}

27 Jan 2013 08:40:21
Firstly I hope all the eds are well? I am looking forward to today's game and hopefully progressing In the cup. I think this week in general as been brilliant for English football with Bradford getting to the league cup final great achievement and also brilliant for Swansea. Also Luton and MK Dons yesterday with great wins.

I don't like to comment on signings untill they are complete but I would like to thank FSG for there continued support of the club.

One question for the eds. Do Newcastle hold an interest in Andy Carroll?

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - Andy CArroll is on a year long loan-to-buy deal at West Ham so it would be unlikely at this time.}

Thanks ed for the reply. In that case then if West ham stay up is there anyway they can pull out of the agreement?

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - I don't know the provisions of the agreement.}

Love the positive post mate#

27 Jan 2013 04:11:27
Do you see us going for Isaac Cuenca? He seems to be much better than Ince in my opinion. Maybe a loan with an option to buy..? {Ed002's Note - Cuenca has just returned from injury and is subject to enquiries from Valencia (loan to buy), Malaga (buy) and Granada (loan). It looks most likely that the Valencia deal will go through, but perhaps only as a loan to start with.}

27 Jan 2013 02:34:01
Eds could Liverpool loan suso before the deadline and do they want to {Ed002's Note - I don't know what the plan is.}

27 Jan 2013 02:19:47
Hi Eds
Liverpool might be coming to Australia this July !!
Great news for Aussie reds like me also suggests a league wonder kid Marco Rojas could be bought this window but more probably during July transfer window he's a great playmaker also great finisher of the ball juve also interested if he joins probably get loaned to championship or eredivise
Dan

Rojas has some potential but is nowhere near Premier League standard as yet. At the age he is (21) he may not ever make it to be honest. The lad who went to Celtic - Tom Rogic - would have been a much better buy.

Rojas is twice the player rogic is...which would still make him less than half of what is required of a potential Liverpool player anyway. On the other side, please come to aus!

Aussie reds? pffft... Think of us Kiwis mate! I know what shirt I'd be buying next season...

Lets not forget that the lad is playing in an average league, yes he does have ability, but it's all relative - Djimi Troare may well have looked like Paolo Maldini if he was plying his trade in the A-League.

Further, with the lad being a Kiwi I'm sure obtaining a work permit of sorts would be required - exceptional talent? no offence to the lad, but I'd say it would require some very, very persuasive comments to convince the Home office.

I hope they come to India as well.. :)

Hey Eds'
Is this how the situation is looking at the moment:
In:
Phillipe Coutinho 9, 5 mill. £
Tom Ince (On loan for rest of the season at regular club) 7, 5 mill. £
Jack Butland (Loan for rest of the season at regular club) 7 mill. £
Centre-Back (If Coates leaves) around 9 mill. £

Out:
Sebastian Coates (possibly Gremio) 8 mill. £
More?

{Ed002's Note - Ignoring all of the prices you have forgotten Sturridge. Butland is pure speculation.}

27 Jan 2013 01:41:58
Damiao Sanchez Isco Eriksen. These are some of the young realistic players who we can go for in the summer. I know it's a long way off but Liverpool must have targets in mind incase Suarez does leave. For the life of me I hope he stays but if someone comes in with big money and he wants a change we must be prepared with 'replacements' in mind.(I wouldn't swap him for ALL these players btw) But we definitely don't want another Andy Carroll panic buy putting us back at square 1. BR is onto a good thing here and it's important to spend well. Man Youf have always sold big stars and replaced them with others and we must do the same.
Can't wait to see Coutinho in a red shirt against Arsenal

Untd do sell big stars but with a couple of notable exceptions such as Ronaldo they sell after they've had decent service from the player and he's begining to show he's on the slide.

The Plank

All the names you have mentioned are the world class talents and want's to play champions league.so they will not come to Liverpool if we failed to qualify for champions league

Realistic? Really

I can see us getting Coutinho before the Arsenal game but I think Tom Ince will slip through our fingers.
Earlier, a poster said a couple of mil for Birmingham's Butland and Redmond with us loaning them back and paying their wages till Summer.
There's also talk of a loanee this window and the likes of Jeffren have been mentioned.
Whatever happens this window, I think we'll be markedly stronger ......Sturridge and Coutinho alone will be massive buys but add one or two more sensible additions and we're looking at mounting a serious challenge in the 2nd half of the season.
We also have a seriously good crop of youngsters coming through (some with 1st team experience) and a few of our rubbished players are coming good at the right time!
Brendan Rodgers has divided opinion but he walked into a Club with high expectations but an even higher wage-bill. He continued the cull of over-paid Rafa gambles started by Kenny and he's steadily moulding a squad worthy of the shirt.
Brendan Rodgers isn't afraid to throw youngsters into the mix and, while not always successful, it's been exciting !
The new arrivals (Sturridge, Coutinho, Jeffren?) will hugely strengthen the squad and provide competition for Sterling, Suso and Borini etc.
Between now and August I can see us waving goodbye to Reina, Coates, Spearing and Pacheco but they'll be replaced with quality.
This is the start of a rennaisance...rennaiss...rennaissants..somethingbig !
ANFIELDPETE {Ed002's Note - There was an implication from a director of St Etienne who spoke with the Potuguese press that Marseille and Liverpool are still interested in Jeffren - who St Et has taken a liking to. Having checked with Marseille they are indeed interested but Sporting has said that they do not want to loan the player out but to sell him to raise some cash. I understand they have an agreement that Barcelona don't want to exercise their option. Expect a move to France.}

No probs ED2 ref Jeffren....I'm guided by your knowledge of French footie. However, I'm just trying to temper some of the pessimism by explaining that a January in which we buy Sturridge, Coutinho and A.N.Other(poss.loanee) would be, in addition to what we already have, very promising indeed.
ANFIELDPETE {Ed002's Note - I agree Pete.}

hi eds with talk of reina leaving in the summer do you know of any possible targets? would like to see forster from celtic or butland but doubt any of these would be a regular no.1 thanks {Ed002's Note - I don't but he is likely to leave.}

I think voorm should be our no1 target for the summer! gd relationship with br and should get pretty cheap! and I think he's quality!! as much as I love him!... reina has looked a bit dodgy the past few seasons!

Newcastle bid £12mil for Bony, Will this prompt us to move on him too ? {Ed002's Note - Wilfried Bony has been of interest to Newcastle and has been a player Chelsea have been considering for a while. Recently there has also been varying degrees of interest from Marseille, Aston Villa, QPR, Liverpool, Everton and a couple of German sides (Hamburg and Schalke) but of these only Marseille seems to still have interest. It would not be a surprise to see interest from other teams, possibly Napoli and Roma. The player has said he would like to join Chelsea. Whilst an offer has been made by Newcastle efforts are still being made to get interest from Russia, any move in January is by no means certain and he will be away at the ACON until the middle of February.}

I really hope we sign him, I think he is class and also think he will be a huge success in the epl...

I never knew Bony was French going to Newcastle.
