I have heard of interest in Mario Gomez. I know you will say its never going to happen, but he has recently been out of Bayerns 1st team due to Mandzukic's form and would be available for a cut-price £18 mill (Carroll money if WHU stay up) I have friends in Germany and they say a couple of papers are linking him with us. YNWA

The bottom of the barrel is coming to this site very very soon!

He had been out of the squad because of injury, also I doubt Bayern would been too keen to sell him
BaltimoRed

Chelsea apparently willing to pay 40 for him, be surprised if he was to leave Germany really

I remember when Hodgson was really close to bringing him in on loan, on the last day of the transfer window in 2010. But then he found form, and became one of the best strikers in the world. I'll always wonder what if, Roy may never have got the sack if Gomez had got us too many points, weird to think.

Thought he was injured before this? thats why he didnt get games, right?

Kaizer

If west ham stay up? There higher up the league than liverpool!

Gomez has been out injured, and used 1 min of hes comeback to score a goal, dont think he is for sale mate...

Mario Gomez would be outstanding up front with Suarez. Ooooh

Hey eds,
are the rumours about babel coming back true? and what about the rumours of a loan for darren bent or giuseppe rossi? to be honest i dont know about any of them, babel plays well some games, but isnt there wen u need him, bent i think is overrated and not as good as he is made out to be, and rossi looks like a good player but would be too much of a risk looking at how injury prone he is. Surely if he was good enough a good team wouldve come in for him by now. i would much rather have a young player with good pace and versatile like sturridge or walcott than bent or babel, or even a player with lots of experience at top level like huntelaar. I dont think it would happen, but i think klose would be a decent buy. I know hes 34/35, but hes got loads of experience at the top level, great finisher and amazing in the air. And hes not even that slow for a player of his age. I think liverpool need the experience, ans he showed at the euros that he can still play at the top {Ed001's Note - nothing in any as far as I am aware, Rossi won't be fit to play before about March anyway.}

Bents overrated but he knows how to score goals would you rather a class striker that can't score ( Torres ) or an overrated one the can ( Bent )

With babel he will not be back and rightly so. However with Bent it looks like a possible loan deal until the end of the season

Get Rossi now b4 he is fit, show him loyalty look at agger he's doing ok and will avoid injury for lots of seasons to come, fingures crossed. Amen everybody, let's take a shot at Rossi, pity we prob won't some team like the toffees will and well just b thinking what if as usual

Eds I know Torino have been favorites for picking up Eduardo Vargas from Napoli this winter (loan?) but any interest from Liverpool? I watched Vargas here in Chile. Think he has immense talent though he's struggled in Italy. Seems like someone who would thrive under Rodgers handling. Any chance of a loan or buy? Not assuming he'd slip into first team but he's young yet and could develop as part of the squad.

Saludos!
Red Gringo in Chile {Ed001's Note - work permit issues will prevent English interest.}

Is it true that Liverpool is interested in Oscar Cardozo? Have any enquires been made?

He'd be great for lfc. really rate cardozo

I would love Cardozo. Wishful thinking but if I look at Benfica I would love to sign Rodrigo. Seems like a really good up and coming young forward.

Lee

According to a web site and another source (cant remember who) according to his agent, Liverpool have made an enquiry. Decent player. would match well with suarez but age policy may hinder. We didnt sign dempsey becasue of his age and value and cardozo would cost more than 15m. JB

Apparently he is on his way to Everton {Ed002's Note - I would rather doubt that.}

Seeing as Strootman looks certain to leave PSV is there any chance of him coming to anfield?
LP

I think he's on Man United's radar, but let's face it, which player with quality or in very good and consistent form, isn't?

We have a far greater range of need than them, yet we just don't get things done in a timely manner. We should be able to pick up the odd player they're looking at but don't need quite yet.

We don't have too many positions that can't be improved upon if we're really honest with ourselves.

I'm not sure about Pepe, in recent seasons he's slipped in form, still one of the best about, but he used to be far and away the best with only Chelsea's Petr Cech as a close rival.

Now there is talk of Al Habsi and Bergovic being sounded as his successor. Zonal marking really suit Pepe!

Agger and Skrtel are as good as any centre back pairing. the midfield is a fluster cluck of a monstrosity, a classic example of too many chefs. Hopefully Brendan pulls it together, but brining in two central midfielders when we needed other players such as wide men and a striker was naive. Especially when Jonjo Shelvey is showing signs of being better than Sahin and Allen at present.

Rodgers also is a bit weird, yeah i said it, he's playing Downing at left back, which is just strange, he played there three times due to serve suspensions and injuries through the then Middlesbrough squad and he got away with it, for all Downings critics, he got man of the match against Cardiff in the cup final.

He is a very good player, you have no where to hide in the Premier League for 10 years, i don't care if your Titus Bramble! Eventually you'll be found out. Downing has done well for England, he's done well for Middlesbrough and for Villa, he could do well for us if he was implemented correctly. Personally i think he was always doomed after signing for £20 million or there about's, which was ridiculous.

Selling him for peanuts would make me so angry, if we could get a decent part ex or work a deal with a club over time for a touch more, then so be it. He won't give you tricks but he'll work, like Enrique will.
Enrique's form when he first signed shows he's a player and can do it for Liverpool, when he does the headless that's because he's unsure, i'd put that down to awareness. Which is accountable for the midfield not gelling properly.

People on SG's back need to see that he's not getting forward as that would compromise the shape of the team, as a unit, when he is managing to get forward he's man marked (That's what happens when you only have one goal threat!

Look how many goals Swansea scored last season, it was in the 40's. We scored more than that and hit the post 30+ times. We are not playing ''attacking'' football, as we did with Kenny, for all it didn't work in the League, but did in the cups, yet it wasn't given more time. We are now playing patient football. Look at the passes in the middle of the park 60% of all our passes this season. What did people really expect?

I rate Rodgers, but he's young and still is a diamond footballing mind, in a bit of rough. He's cocksure, he's willing to correct a mistake or a tactical clash very early on, he's actually very daring at times (Chasing a win against Young Boys, when we were already winning? Or, losing a two goal lead to Everton, he'll learn no question, but there will be teething pains and frustrating times. ). But he needs more cutting edge tactics in the final third, his patient approach is lost on a good majority of our fans. Much like Mourinho's was at Chelsea, for all he was loved Chelsea wanted 4-0 wins, Mourinho's tactics go for wins, if that means a goal in the 88th minute, then he'd settle for that any day of the week, against us, or against a lower league team in the F.A cup.

But the special one won titles with that style. We are going nowhere fast

Sturridge maybe a good player but IMO he is not d player we need at this moment and definitely not for transfer fee that's being touted.
According to me he is too selfish i would rather love to see us invest in players outside England.

If we buy Sturridge for £10+ million, then that is because we will play him, he was never going to be played on a permanent basis at a club like Chelsea with huge expectations on incoming transfers.

We should try for Bertrand as well, he's lost a lot of time at Chelsea in my opinion. I'd not care about the chants of having their unwanted players, as they'd become very valuable for us.

Staridge will be waste of money

Why not just go for the best candidate for the job, whats it matter where they come from, very strange work ethic !

Red Til Dead

Why outside England our core of English players has served us well

hi eds big fan of the site.
do you know if liverpool have any interest in the PSV player Georginio Wijnaldum. {Ed002's Note - Swansea, Spurs, Lille and Benfica have shown fairly recent interest in Wijnaldum. PSV will not be keen to sell and he could be very expensive.}

Do Swansea not know he'll be on the pricey side? Seems odd that they'd waste their time scouting a player that would be beyond their financial means.

The Daily Express who reported Suarez 'could' be a target for Chelsea are now leading with Gomez, with no mention of Suarez.

Any lessons learnt here folks?

dd

Lies, spin and misinformation sell papers.
I did not see much about Man Utd hardly paying any tax for the last 5 years. Suprise, suprise......

Don't believe it. Every paper inc: Express have linked nearly every player in the world with Chelsea. I also can't see Abravomich spending a lot of cash whilst Benitez is on a short term contract.
Absolute rubbish.

Didnt they say in the summer that we had signed ramirez.Tommy Irish Red

Suarez is no Torres

Suarez is no Torres

Hiya eds great page , I wish the sturridge rumours would go away just don't think he's good enough we can get better for cheaper ... The Loic Remy reports seem very interesting , also do you think BR will be going back to Swansea I've heard that he's after another wide man and nathen dyer is not a regular and knows the system.. Also has the lad from Celtic sighned a new contract Hooper ? He would be a cheap option I wouldn't bother with centre halfs till summer as Carragher has been excellent filling inn cheers eds .. {Ed002's Note - There has been interest in Hooper but it has gne quiet. As of now he has not sign a new contract. I know nothing of a return to Swansea for players.}

I think Dyer is a good player for us. Not in the winter windows but next summer transfer, perhaps?

My Dad (Irish, Celtic fan) said we can't have Hooper. I said i don't think we'll buy him, don't worry. Liverpool only buy over rated British players, not under rated British ones. :)

BoriniCanDoIt

Michael Dawson from tottenham

Sturridge 8 goals from 12 games at Bolton. Enough for you?

Dawson will be Harry's first signing for about £4 million i believe, no fact nor information coming through my crystal ball, just sensible i think.

Walcott advisors have been in talks with LFC over the weekend with AFC also aware of talks taking place, Liverpool are willing to better Afc current contract offer

LFC93

Whats new...

I like the eds think Arsenal will sort out a new deal, but i would love him to sign for us in January as he has experience in the epl, is 23 and scores goals.

BigD

Ed's i thought this was not allowed? Thought there was rules for other teams to poach players like this?

FowlerGod. {Ed002's Note - Advisors, agents and representatives can talk to other clubs - but another club may not make a direct approach to a player about a transfer.}

Im afraid Im with the Ed's on this one, that it is just a strategy to negotiate with. Can we offer him CL football or better wages. I know he is a fan and I may be wrong, but surely we would have to offer more than Arsenal are in order to lure him away. IMO he has not been consistant enough to warrant such a gamble. {Ed002's Note - As a starting point the club would have to find out how much Arsenal want and decide if they are going to pay it.}

Whether the player is a fan a certain club or not, does not decide on will he put his name on the line.

What's matter is the money he will be getting, is he happy with the playing environment and his own expectation.

27 Nov 2012 11:34:35
Is there any info on the price chelsea are lookin to get for sturridge?

If its 12m or so should we not try invest that in a Bony or Huntelaar?

WicklowRed {Ed002's Note - I don't want to get drawn on what might be acceptable but I suspect that would be in the right area.}

Sturridge has shown he can score goals in the epl with Bolton & Chelsea.

Bony & Huntelaar will be risks as they will be joining the epl for the 1st time and might need a season or two 2 adapt, so Sturridge might be the best solution.

BigD

With that logic, Downing, Carroll and Adam would be great buys and Sureaz still finding his feet......

Yeah I wouldnt be dead set against taking Sturridge either just if the price was to climb above the 12m mark id pursue other options, although him Suarez and Sterling/Borini would be a decent starting point in my opinion

WicklowRed

Could not agree more. There are way better options, Bony being the obvious one, to spend 12MM on. I don't care whether he has played in the epl or not. The fact that someone has had playing time in epl does not make them better than someone who is playing in the Eredivisie or Bundesliga Serie A etc. That type of thinking is what got us in this problem to begin with. I would hope Rodgers would go get the player he feels will have the best career at Liverpool.

Hi ed,
as you are a chelsea fan do you think he would really improve us...
in my opinion i think we could get better options especially at that price...
thanks. {Ed002's Note - I would really not want to say.}

Sturridge playing regular football will score goals, i'm certain of it, i don't personally like the lad, but he'll get you goals.

Bony will also score goals and i believe more of them, he's a real handful for the Dutch defenders.

27 Nov 2012 11:34:34
family member who works high up at liverpool has mentioned very serious intrest in suarez from chelsea, the owners have apparently told roger that a bid within the region of 40m will be accepted, just passing on info

If true, it demonstrates that the owners have zero ambition for the club and rather than look to hold on to top players and add to them, that basically we are a selling club and that if your offer is good enough we will accept it. Yes, that kind of attitude will bring in money, but we will remain a mid table club with a defeatist attitude. RIP ambition.

I would be shocked if we accepted a bid of £40m as he is current top goalscorer in the league and in great form, Torres went for £50m so Suarez should go for more, also i would not read too much into reports that Suarez has a £40m buyout clause in his contract.

BigD

There would be booing at anfield for the rest of the season if they let him go for less then Torres or let him go at all. They would be a disgrace to let him go at January.

Its simple if it wasnt for him we would be bottom three. They simply cant sell him.

Well if thats true I wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers walked, and I wouldn't blame him! The owners can't undermind the manager, if the manager says "Suarez isn't going anywhere, for any money, he is a major part of my plans" then the owners can't go over the manager unless they don't mind him walking! {Ed002's Note - Managers do not normally "walk" over players coming and going from a club. Players moving clubs happens constantly and you need to understand they are simply transient empolyees. Van Persie left Arsenal, Drogba Chelsea, etc.. If they go you move on.}

27 Nov 2012 12:40:39
suarez is more important to us now than torres ever was so his value would be around the 60 million mark we dont need to sell him because we arent in massive depth also considering his current form outside of messi and ronaldo suarez is the most entertaining player to watch,mark

Hi eds.
I have to admit I getting sick of these rumors about Suarez. The owners said he wasn't for sale so I believe them. why would they weaken our already forward line? makes no sense. just a bit of common knowledge. I personally believe we will sign either Bony or Huntelaar. I hope Bony because e reminds me of a Didier Drogba and this will push our drive for 4th spot. Also I read on a number of sites that people saying get Rodgers out. I have to say this is the best style of football I have seen at anfield. I enjoyed Rafas revolution but thats in the past and Rodgers is our future. The man is doing his best to put a philosophy in place that will have us challenging for trophies and the title. Were not 2 far away. Were about 3 players off been a quality side, not saying were not already. Reina needs a wake up call big time and if he was to go I personally think Ter Stegen would be a top replacement, the man broke 2 of his teeth in training so e not afraid to put his body on the line. Lads lets get behind the team and the results will come together starting with Spurs tomorrow night.
Thanks eds, Die Hard Red YNWA: J96

Why are you all believing this load of rubbish? And who is this Roger fella that they have apparently told?

Pure Tripe! Tom Werner said only a week or so ago that Suarez will not be sold! End of! Stop talkin rubbish!

If this is true, i would say £30 M pluse Torres

If Suarez is smart, he would not want to end up like Torres did. How many top strikers did Chelsea destroy?

Drogba had given his best years to Chelsea?
Van Persie had spent 6yrs at Arsenal without winning anything so neither player equates to losing Suarez I'm afraid.
kidmillions

I'd imagine any manager attempting to build a team/squad will see 'his' players as slightly more than mere "transient employees".

Those "transient employees" can help build or destroy his reputation. They can keep him in employment at the very least. They can enhance his earning capacity.

High Up at Liverpool. Probably a steward

I don't understand why people don't think there could be just a little bit of truth in this, I'm sorry but as sad as it is , mr Henry is a huge and successfull business man, if you think he is gonna turn down a 15m profit on anything that belongs to him your living in a dream world! Fingers crossed.... I'm wrong?

If torres was £50 million, then suarez must be worth £100 million on current form

How high,was he fixing the roof :P
suarez to chelsea not a chance

What a load of BS from a desperate Chelsea fan, is that you Rafa?

Lee73

Absolute rubbish

27 Nov 2012 10:51:45
Question for ed002 if possible,

Do you see sturridge as a probable target for us given that we want to control our wage budget and sturridge isn't exactly on low wages as it is and would surely ask for an increase if we bid for him.

Nevada {Ed002's Note - An enquiry has been made for Sturridge.}

Is tue enquiry for a loan move or a permanent transfer?

Felix {Ed002's Note - There was an enquiry about a loan in the summer - but this is now for a transfer.}

27 Nov 2012 10:47:31
Hi eds, according to the rumours, Rodgers possible transfer targets are sturridge, wilfried bony and kevin grossbretz from dortmund(sorry for the spellin) for all three deals around 40m. While downing and joe cole wil be allowed to leave. Doubts that huntelaar and walcott may sign deals with their respective clubs. No major signings. Wat do u think? {Ed002's Note - Please try the search function - all have been dealt with already.}

Huntelaar is a must. break the bank for him!

3/4 great years we could get from him.

No way 40m will be spent, lucky if rogers get half that

I think you are in a geat dream...
we are struggling to attract loan options..
you mean 40 mil?
the only 40 mill asset we currently have is luis suarez...

Along those lines. 27million plus sturridge plus 3million in add ons. Downing and 3-5million for walcott. If walcott deal can't be done, attention turns to bony. Bent on loan with permanent view at end of season, fee unknown.
Source, brendans son at Brighton, my brother who works in training equipment has been setting up new gym equipment at their training facility. I hope he's not pulling my leg. He is s manc fan. :-(

27 Nov 2012 10:38:04
ed, any interest in jetro williams, wellington nem or lars bender from liverpool ?
Also do u expect Rodrigo Moreno & Matias destro to move in january ? {Ed002's Note - No, no, not for a while, don't know, no.}

27 Nov 2012 10:19:15
Hi Eds. Great work on the site. Bit worried about the papertalk about Chelsea preparing a massive bid for Suarez. Do you know if there is there is any chance of him jumping ship in either January or next summer? Also, I've heard that Remy and Bent are almost certainties to join in January. I think we may as well kept Carroll if all we will do is replace him with another misfiring striker. Sturridge rumours seemed to have died down. I've a feeling esp after what Rodgers has said this week that the January transfer window is going to be a very disappointing one! Very hard to be an optimistic Liverpool fan these days
Johnny {Ed002's Note - To the best of my knowledge Suarez' representatives have spoken with two clubs recently, neither of which is Chelsea and uless something has happened very recently I am not aware of Chelsea interest at this time. There is nothing unusual in this as he is playing well and clubs are bound to be interested. However, at this time it is not worth the grief of discussing Suarez too much.}

Inter & juventus

Yeah, seen the gossip page on the beeb covering the story linking us with move for Bent. Whoopdee doo. I personally cant get that excited about us possibly moving for another player who cant even get in the squad at Villa. For effs sake, we shouldnt be gettingeven linked with players of that low grade. Yes, he has played in the prem, yes he has scored goals, yes these have always been for teams who we would consider lesser than us. But if he really was worth the effort, dont you think any other half decent teams would have snapped him up? No, leave it to us to be sniffing around instead looking like desperate mugs.

In fairness it was the Daily Express reporting this (via BBC goss) at 5p its hardly quality. I've used more expensive bog roll, Suffolk'n Red

I don't think the club would be to happy if that was the case,some people just want to see him gone and are hell bent to twist everything into something drastic towards Liverpool supporters. Suarez is a Liverpool player for the foreseeable future I wouldn't worry to much what any gliffnards had to say. They way I see it is he's our best player buy a country mile and probably the best in the league so to say he's off or so and so are preparing a massive bid it's just a way of having a jealous dig.

27 Nov 2012 09:49:37
Hi Eds,

How do you see the situation with Glen Johnson, Martin Kelly and Young Flanagen playing out. With Carra soon to end his career (no doubt) will we look to replace carra with a CB or move Kelly in to the CB position permanantly?

Also is there any potential interest in Mbiwa of Montpellier?

Shame abou Dzageov, he is certainly a player that we should of shown serious interest in. Miles better than Henderson.

Jamie {Ed002's Note - I don't know what Rodgers plans on doing with the players he has at his disposal as defenders. Mbiwa had been of serious interest to AC Milan, Lille and Fenerbahce but having signed a new deal at Montpellier will not be going anywhere for a while.}

Look at No. 43 McLaughlin, he is the best prospect, I think Flanno may have lost it and may need to go out on loan to get it back
Andre Wisdom is only 19 as well and has the physique to make it if he can cut out his concentration errors

With Kelly, Skirtel, Agger, Coats, Sama, Wisdom and perhaps even Wilson/Coady to step in, it's not a priority for me.

Yes wisdom for me is class. But I wouldnt consider him to be a top rate CB only a right wing back. I may be wrong. So i just wanted to see if flanno would have a future as a right back and as kelly orgionally started off as a cb would he move back there. I think Johnson has also peaked. Still a good player though. For me we have Skrtel, Agger and carra as our main three CB. Coates NO! And i like kelly at Right back. Its just specualting really. You hear of all these young talented players and we are linked with them then a year later a big club grabs them for a price we would easily afford and yet again we miss out.
Jamie

Mats Hummels or move Kelly to centre half

Still think that we have enough cover for Agger and Skirtel. Kelly is good enough to cover both positions.

BPL

27 Nov 2012 09:42:12
Ed002, BR just said on that there is money available to buy players permenantly and we will look to get 1 or 2 players in on loan. I know u said we have enquired about jeffren on loan but do you know any other possible loan signings? eg tello, callejon, bent {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any other loan options right now off the top of my head. I would think Barcelona loaning out Tello may not be out of the question. Callejon is not a player that I would expect to be sent on loan. If Bent's time is up at Vill then it would make sense to sell him and get some money in to strengthen. I would think, although don't know, that a loan would be unlikely.}

27 Nov 2012 09:39:01
Any word of Pablo Armero from Udinese? Good left sided player who can also slot in at left back. {Ed002's Note - AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus have shown a great deal of interest in Armero but there is may also be some lingering interest from Napoli, Manchester United, Liverpool, Spurs and Fiorentina. Right now, Juventus are pushing for a January transfer.}

27 Nov 2012 09:18:31
heard a rumour here in denmark that liverpool have made a bid of 3 milloin pounds for rasmus falk from OB

27 Nov 2012 08:40:34
Good Day Eds,

Is there any possibility or interest in Dzageov? He had a great Euro and he fits the clubs policy. Cracking young player and perhaps someone we could tempt to the club ahead of the lieks of Eriksen and Goatze.

Jamie {Ed002's Note - Dzagoev has interested Chelsea and Arsenal (who at one time sent an entire contingent to watch him play in Moscow) in the past but that has probably waned. Napoli and Spurs have both recently contacted CSKA about the player. It should be noted that he signed a new contract in the summer.}

27 Nov 2012 08:21:10
eds, just read on my rumours app that cavani's agent has come out and said cavani has agreed to speak to us and arsenal, is it true?!

cheers
john {Ed002's Note - No - it is a two week old spoof from Twitter.}

Read before posting and stop boring us with the same stupid questions!

To be fair to John, The national papers have also fallen foul of this spoof, it was in the Telegraph (I think) yesterday

Damn! i had a sleepless night over that aswell ha

27 Nov 2012 02:08:15
There seems to be a lot of chat of Darren Bent in on loan in January, IMO this would be a great bit of business by Liverpool, Like him or not the man scores goals and we are crying out for another striker to help out Suarez. What you think eds ? Possible ?

Dipper from Northern Ireland YNWA {Ed002's Note - I would have expected that Aston Villa's first instinct would be to sell bent rather than loan him out. We will see.}

I would pay 15m tops for him!

Bent needs to clean his act up and knuckle down, and concentrate on his footy if he is to join us! as i have said before he is not a popular player! we shall see

27 Nov 2012 01:21:29
Hi Eds,

do ya think signin better players in january depends on who leaves or will there be enough da bring in players? personally i rekon we need someone to replace sterling for a bit or hes gonna end up burning out and possibly the same with suso.. they are only 17 & 18 after all.. maybe forgettin the youth policy for a year or so and bringin in some great experienced player like litmanen or mcallister? somethin along them lines maybe even raul up front would be a good signing {Ed002's Note - UNless there is an unexpected departure in January my feeling is that it is pretty well mapped out what will happen. If Rodgers decides that he wants to bring an experienced player in then so be it, but I am not so sure it will be easy to find one who can fit right away with the style of play Rodgers is implementing.}

27 Nov 2012 00:47:50
Ed, can you please confirm whether or not Suarez has a 40m release clause in his contract and has anybody triggered it. Thanks
Scouse_Pride {Ed002's Note - Please read the posts - this has been dealt with more than once.}
