Have Heard Thomas Ince doesnt want to leave Blackpool, he has said that he wants to play first team football and not be known as just the son of his father, even if the club agrees he's expected to decline advances from liverpool

He has already agreed personal terms

28 Dec 2012 22:28:18
Heard Ince has fell through and we're looking abroad.

Good! Put that extra money towards the purchase of walcott!

Red Lee

Hope this is true! would rather not have Ince back ...just cant see it working

28 Dec 2012 21:05:46
Liverpool have made a bid in excess of 10m for lazar markovic ince deal cannot be reached.

Would be nice, but would mean we actually have scouts. He is much better then Ince

Ince would also be nice if he was an anagram!
DM2012 {Ed002's Note - As an anagram, Ince is both nice and enic.}

How can we bid more than 10m for a younger player, when Ince (20yrs and hence more experienced) would cost less than that. This rumour is fishy to sat the least.

10m on a random player. Want Villa

Ha anagram nice-Ince

Villa isn't coming, that's just dumb. Markovic looks a sure fire talent. Works his ass off game in-game out. Be happy if true. Scouting coming alive

28 Dec 2012 20:49:24
Liverpool have made contact with Marcus Noack the agent of Lewis Holtby, I don't think this would happen but you never know he is a class player

I personally believe Butland has the potential to be a class player and I hope a deal could happen although I don't think you could just chuck him in at the deep end by selling Reina

As I stated yesterday I believe Ince is close

28 Dec 2012 20:14:12
Believe me or not, Honda is a target for Liverpool. Rodgers has had him watched since he arrived and believes he could add a lot to the squad. The only problem is there are a several other clubs interested and we need to get rid of Cole and maybe Downing to make the deal happen.

Fantastic if this is true. If we lack the players to distribute the ball well from midfield to attack, change the players, otherwise we are always going to be on the back foot, and playing possession football in or around the centre of the pitch does not get us goals.

If there are several clubs after him why would he join us he would be stupid 2

Cole yes. Downing no

Don't believe you

There's suddenly a Downing fan!

Why Downing?

Yes I am a Downing fan. He deserves a chance

Liverpool are in talks with Birmingham to sign Jack Butland. Sturridge and Ince are done deals basically. Reina's time is over. Let's hope we can get good money for him.

I hope so...no ofense but Reina was costing us more goals the Carra did last season, his heart is not there any more.Trouble is there are more players who plays like that sometimes...
RITMICAK YNWA

Disgraceful on Reina

Reina's form is troubling, but replacing him with Butland is just changing the nature of the problem. Those talking about Reina leaving need to be careful what they wish for.

I do agree that his heart isn't in it with Liverpool anymore. I'm sure he's had opportunities to leave but stayed time after time. I hold no grudge with him. He could have won a lot more with clubs all around Europe after him.

How many times in last 3years did he saved penalty, what about his punches from corners and free kicks, what about movement and concentration at goal when we battering teams for 15mins spell and then they come near our box for first time and we concede because reina sleeping ...I am not saying Butland is his replacement I am saying keep him at Birmingham for second half of the season and then bring him as a second keeper to Jones.Reina should be swaped for Walcot or gone by sumer
RITMICAK

I can see Reina going in the summer! However if butland comes in I do not believe he will be the new no1

Reina for Walcott?

28 Dec 2012 16:50:07
Hey ed's I think its been said quite often that there is the possibility of a CAM coming in the summer who do you think are the likely players that lfc would look to get in the summer. I realize it will also probably depend on another few factors but which ones have been watched by our scouts if any. {Ed002's Note - It is far too early to talk of the summer with any confidence.}

28 Dec 2012 16:32:43
Liverpool to sign Sturridge and Ince. No one else. Rodgers has been very clear in all his interviews that there is a tight budget, and really, they are only making up for missed targets in the summer.

No point whining. We need to move on. The lads will have to pull up their socks and give it 100% every single game. Go after every loose ball like it was their last. That is the only way we can turn this season around.

Coop

Yes i think ur spot on, no point dreaming people need to get real.

As already pointed out reality is one thing many Liverpool fans need to get used too. I think we are shaping up for a bright future but it is not going to be an easy transition. We have some excellent kids and the signings we are making to me will compliment the system BR wants to play, so have to say I am happy with what is happening. The two everyone mention as dead Cerys to sign Sturridge and Ince will bring something we seriously lack......pace and skill with an a slightly selfish attitude on the pitch, not to mention goals. People may dream of Cavani, Falcao and other household names but I am sure if we did people would still whine when they didn't score in their first game.

Loan deal always possible tho.

Yep no point in dreaming, it's perfectly clear the club are now a mid table side trying to break in with the big boys now.

It's going to take many many years and still no guarantee we will.

The reality is the club needed owners with lots of money to take the quick route, FSG clearly don't and so we have to take the path of hope, we will lose our few quality players as they look for bigger clubs which will be the hardest thing to see happen.

Both waste of money

People know that the players don't try hard enough, yet when we lose it is somehow Brendan Rodgers fault.

Why should money be tight? These Yanks have bought the top club in the world. With that come responsibility. Buy the best or sell.

Rodgers should go

28 Dec 2012 16:27:21
Hi eds are we close to striking a deal with Blackpool to sign Tom Ince?

Cheers
Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - Efforts are being made as we know - "close" or not I can't help with right now but I think there remains a very good chance a deal can be made.}

28 Dec 2012 15:38:44
Hello Ed's, I saw little bit there were you said Chelsea would not stop Lamps from leaving and would let him go for little or no money. Has LFC made an enquiry about a possible transfer in January?

Lucas {Ed002's Note - There is no more chance of that happening than the club looking for a new goalkeeper. In all seriousness, I understand it is a matter being addressed elsewhere. Like all truths, you need to refer to Twitter and the goings on at #WonderDogSparky over the past hour.}

28 dec 2012 19:44:46
a goal keeper is much more equired than even striker.
in case we miss new stoper in jan then jones should take the charge, i don't see raina getting back to his normal form quickly.

Lampard????

28 Dec 2012 15:30:47
Hi Eds
With us apparently in talks with Jack Butland i have a thought.
In the past Arsenal made a bid for Reina but didn't get him. What are your thoughts on a theory that maybe Reina is going to Arsenal as part of a deal with Walcott coming to us, or have i been on the juice to much over Christmas?
Think about it Sturridge and Walcott up top with Suarez just behind in the hole.
Have a great new year guys and keep up the good work. {Ed002's Note - Stranger things have happened; not many of course. My honest opinion is that if Liverpool were to have an offer accepted for Butland to move in January then it would be a very high-risk strategy to throw him in to the first team and expect it to end in anything other than tears for someone.}

Well, could it be a buy with a loan back for 6 months? After all, why shouldn't we take a strong an coming goalkeeper in, Chelsea are lining up Courtois as replacement for Cech and find ways to send him out on loan?

Drigan

28 Dec 2012 15:16:14
Hey Eds,

Was anyone else in for Sturridge at all?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Not recently.}

That tells you something ed {Ed052's Note - tells us what?}

That he is an overpaid, overrated sulk

It tells you that everyone knows he wants to come to Liverpool, so it would be pointless bidding for him.

Let's hope he has a lot more fight and bottle than a lot of our first team "Squad". Nearly19

What are people believing this for. It was a question

28 Dec 2012 15:12:26
Hi Ed's

Peter Pannu has spilled the beans and said that there are talks with Liverpool about signing Butland. Is Pepe on his way out?

Max {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that he was referring to talks that have taken place between Liverpool and the player's agent and no offer has been mde to Birmingham.}

Ed do u know of any interest in other goalkeepers? eg trapp, leno etc {Ed052's Note - not at the minute no, only Butland.}

28 Dec 2012 15:00:10
Eds qnd fellow Reds,
What are the chances that Liverpool could go for Iker Muniain? {Ed002's Note - Muniain was touted around the clubs on behalf of Bilbao last January - and the two clubs in England that were approached were Chelsea and Manchester United. The asking price was 40M euros. They won't get it because I don't think clubs would risk half of that on a player who is young and has had some off field issues. If the price comes down to a reasonable level (20M euros might be an acceptable figure) I can see interest from several English clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool. Lyon, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Roma have sustained interest which is still there but I could not see a cash deal involving Lyon as possible at this time. Rumours abound of Juventus and Palermo interest - but perhaps an eventual move to Barcelona beckons.}

Seriously? I've read ed002's response to this question so many times I think I could fill in and answer it on your behalf, word for word!
Will people please, please use the search function, it works wonders!

What is the situation with Henderson, Editors? I'd like to think his performances in the last month or so have bought him enough time to evade this window, but I'm not entirely confident on that point.

TSP {Ed002's Note - I know that in the summer he would have been allowed to leave but am not aware that is teh acse in January.}

Cheers Ed002. Exactly what I wanted to hear.

TSP {Ed052's Note - but of course he may go in January if Lampard arrives}

Jordan back to the stadium of light

Henderson will stay

Rubbish back to Sunderland. Lampard??

Henderson and lamps centre of midfield at the sol, interesting thought

28 Dec 2012 13:10:22
Would love Liverpool to make an approach for Honda and hoarau too. Honda is exceptionally talented and hoarau at 2 million is a snip.
Thoughts eds?
Puzzled Red {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were very interested at one time but may have blown their chance of Honda in January 2011 when he was available for about £8M. During the mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player said he wanted to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. This summer we saw enquiries for the player have been from Lazio, PSG, Sevilla and Palermo. It seems to be the longest running of the Liverpool (and Arsenal) related "rumours". Honda was close to leaving in the summer with a move to Lazio only failing at the last minute and I understand that Lazio would still be interested at the right price. He has had a bit of a strange season in that he has been scoring goals but his performances have been criticised - which seems to have put off Dortmund who have taken a recent look. If you were to ask if I expect Honda to move to Liverpool in January the answer would be probably not.

Guillaume Hoarau will be allowed to leave PSG in January rather than let his contract run down until the summer with Everton, Sunderland, Hamburg, Trabzonspor and Monaco showing interest in the striker. Previous interest from Liverpool has, I understand, been rekindled to some extent by a very recent request for information on his availability.}

28 Dec 2012 12:38:56
Hey eds, several Holtby questions here, after reading a local article:
1. Is it true that Holtby has officially said that he would not be renewing his contract with Schalke?
2. Schalke chairman allegedly claimed this is due to personal reasons, is there something on that front?
3. Which clubs are in the run for signing him, article read Bayern, Liverpool and Spurs, and you have repeatedly mentioned Inter.
4. If Liverpool do go for him, how do you rate our chances of getting him?

Sorry for pestering you, but he is an interesting player!
Drigan {Ed002's Note - (1) I don't know what you mean by "officially" but he is not keen to sign the contract offered by Schalke. (2) Try the National Enquirer for gossip. (3) He can sign a pre-contract in January but not with Bayern Munich. Interested clubs include Aston Villa, Valencia, Everton and Arsenal and unconfirmed rumours suggest that both Manchester United and Liverpool may also look to Holtby. Perhaps the most interesting option that he may have is Inter Milan who most definately has an interest after stepping back from any deal for their first choice midfield player. However, Inter are being advised by Di Frisco that Holtby is perhaps two years from being ready for such a move but in my view it remains a possible destination - although they are looking at Belhanda as well. (4) I really don't want to get in to "rating" chances.}

28 Dec 2012 11:16:11
Eds do you see anymore signings coming apart from sturridge, ince and butland? All good players that will improve the squad but I still feel we are lacking goals from the front 3 and desperately need a number 10! {Ed002's Note - I am by no means sure that Butland will be arriving but as Liverpool has been talking to his agent there is clearly interest. As I have said, Liverpool has made enquiries about other players including one as a potential loan. We will see in the coming weeks if anything more comes of these enquiries or if interest exists elsewhere.}

The loan has to be Torres

28 Dec 2012 06:15:44
Dear Eds, just wondering any info on senior management position (SD / CEO)? I really think that an experienced person is essential at LFC now. Any reason why FSG hasn't appointed one? City already sign Begiristain and Soriano, we're stuck with Ayre (no offense intended, but I believe you know their quality, though I'm not sure they share same job desc).

Feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks Eds! :) {Ed002's Note - All of the senior positions at Liverpool are filled except for Communications Director and that would have no impact on the football at all. Tom Werner is Chairman which equates to CEO. TB's role at Manchester City does not equate to that of IA at Liverpool. If you are simply thinking of brining in another football person that was dealt with at some length yesterday.}

28 Dec 2012 11:55:00
LFC in talks with BCFC over Butland, their Chairman has confirmed

Have heard that there is possibility of a deal around the £4M mark, with him remaining where he is on loan. RED LENIN

Would we want a keeper that would prefer to stay where he is than move to us? Only due to bcfc financial difficulties is the sale due to go ahead! Man utd, arsenal, boro, have younger better keepers spurs have two younger and better! Do we not have any coming through?

I want him seems a good price for a young english keeper...

Where does this leave Reina

Reinas going nowhere, Butland will be backup for a few seasons.

28 Dec 2012 11:35:14
I miss pepe-cam :( {Ed002's Note - It will be making a triumphant return on Twitter in teh next couple of days - after some of the Liverpool fans left JonJonJo in tears. I understand Sparky (WonderDogSparky) has much to say on the subject.}

Edd wat was said to jon jo

grego {Ed052's Note - he quit twitter because of abuse}

Cant believe any fans would have a bad thing to say about jonjo! He has been one of the positives this season. Hes got a great future ahead of him and we have to accept that mistakes and inconsistance may come as he is still young. Lay off the lad ya Tweet Heads.

J

28 Dec 2012 13:26:14
people forget Gerrard was inconsistent when he was younger ! fickle fans

28 Dec 2012 10:16:23
Hi Edds, great work, just wanted to know aht info you had on the possibility of Frank Lampard coming to LFC? Regards, G {Ed002's Note - Chelsea would not stand in the way of Lampard moving should the club approach Chelsea for permission to speak with him and then make an acceptable offer for the player.}

Considering lamps performances under Rafa, Id offer him aone year deal. Gotta be an improvement to what we have!!? Surely

J

Ed what do you think would be an acceptable bid and would he demand high wages?
Scouse_Pride {Ed002's Note - Chelsea would almost certainly let the player leave for free in January if he found somewhere he wanted to move to that would give him a package he sees as suitable.}

Lampard and Gerrard midfield never worked for England, would it now?

Not Lampard and Gerrard

No thank you
Paisley's genius

28 Dec 2012 10:10:54
hi eds how was your xmas? ok i have no rumor chaps. but im gonna take a shot in the dark here. and i want you eds to tell me what you think and if it could happen. ok big talk of chelsea wanting aged players out off the club. lfc need a quick fix for sure. we went down this route under gerrard houllier with garry mc. now to me over one season he got the legend status he was gold for us even at the age of 37. but he also created . now i do understand we do create chances but we lack goals from midfield with gerrard playing so deep. what if we was to have a punt at frank lampard? ok not ideal but wouldnt cost a penny. wages would but maybe release joe cole ? or downing then wages are then available. to me this is no risk but a very sensible signing until money is available in the summer. maybe double swoop for john terry too. our back four at present is nothing short from shocking {Ed002's Note - As far as I know Christmas was OK for everyone thanks. It is true that Chelsea is aware that with the FFPRs coming along it will be easier to spend to replace older players earlier rather than later. It is also true that regardless of any "legendary" status at the club Chelsea understands that as players get older they might lose a little bit of pace, their "edge" and perhaps be more prone to picking up knocks and them taking longer to heel. Hence the need to move the likes of Anelka, Drogba, etc. on. Certainly Chelsea would not stand in the way of Frank Lampard leaving if Liverpool wished to make a move for him in January. You may need to wait until next year for the swoop on Terry as well. Perhaps you have a plan.}

Haha no plan. i wouldnt sign terry but if it was an option for short term then why not? just got a feeling liverpool may go in for lampard im not in the know and to be frank lol excuse the pun. i have no idea who will come or who will go. i was just thinking rodgers needs results. and you guys havnt denied it so would be possible so to me its an option and one id be happy with. for a short term fix

Happy Christmas

Sign Lampard, and what of gerrard. Have we not seen playing for England that the two really struggle to play well together. Lamps is a nice idea as McAllister was, but Gary filled a role that was available in the team and what was a fairly youngish team. Not sure where Lampard would fit in?

Gary mccallister should have been a liverpool player years before he was, certainly should have signed him instead of ince, lampard was a good player but his legs have gone & never had mccallisters intelligence
Paisley's genius

Guys i never said lampard was as fit or as good as garry mc. as i dont think he is but you say were would he fit. explain to me what henderson and shelvey and also sahin and joe allan have given us ? sahin i rate but he dont get into the starting 11 henderson i dont think will ever cut it. i rate shelvey but still think he is way off his full potential. international football is diffrent to club football. there is a place to fill

28 Dec 2012 07:03:04
Dear Eds and fellow Reds, thanks for the great job on this site! I think the discussions held here are much more mature than those I see in the official Liverpool site. Just one question from me, remember a couple of months back, Tom Werner openly said that business will be done in January and will be putting smiles back on fans' faces. To be very honest though, what we have seen in the papers so far ain't very exciting and was pretty much expected. Do you have any idea what scouting policy do we adopt at the moment and personally, if it is youth, I would think looking for young exciting players would be suitable as I am not deluded like those who still think big name players may still choose us. I mean, just look at Mirallas! Young and exciting and bringing flair to the team. Is Liverpool currently scouting any such players? I am not talking about the January window of course, but probably the summer or beyond? I have heard names like Eriksen being watched by us, but is there any other names that you may know of that we generally don't? Cheers Eds and wishing you a happy new year in advance!

Regards,
Ken

(PS. I think that Sturridge is not a bad signing, just that it is so predictable. I also believe that all fans should not judge a player even before he takes to the pitch with our shirt on.)

{Ed002's Note - I suspect your memory relates to something Rodgers said in the summer about Borini. If Werner said anything about spending in January it is true as we know (e.g. Sturridge, Ince). You really need to keep up with the posts in respect of players being watched. We certainly do not have the time to produce summaries.}

28 Dec 2012 09:43:51
hello eds birmingham chairman said were in talks with them over the signing of jack butland they want 6 million for him do you have anymore info on this,mark {Ed002's Note - I did not know the Birmingham had said that there were discussions going on with Liverpool and I find it surprising he has said such a thing. Birmingham has severe financial problems and the club is up for sale. It would be reasoned to sell Butland if they need to raise cash quickly. I know of one recent rejected offer for Butland only and that was not from Liverpool.}

Yea it was on a website ed, £6M apparenty

It's all over a web site. If by this muppet coming out and making this public, loses us butland il crack. Lfc should sue him as well. If we are interested in a player the team we inquire off should be bound to silence.

Mmmm

If they are in financial crisis and is putting the club for sales, isn't it better for them to keep Butland to entice potential buyer? {Ed002's Note - I understand that the discussions that clubs have held over Butland have, at this time, been with his agent not with Birmingham directly. The reason for selling would be to stave of creditors if new owners cannot be found.}

28 Dec 2012 09:43:09
hey eds , posting after a really long time.......
is it true that arsenal have agreed terms with athletico for arda turan? - RED INDIAN {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware - is it something from Twitter? Arda Turan will most likely move this coming summer subject to a suitable bid being made - something in the order of £18M-£20M. The likely destinations are England and Italy although there remains a chance that previous German interest will still be there and an outside chance of a return to Turkey. Atletico Madrid have already rejected a move from Schalke saying they do not want to sell in January.}

It is "rumoured" that Arsenal have come to an agreement to buy Turan in the Summer. The reason for them coming to the agreement now is so they can agree personal terms early.

My personal belief however is that they may have put an enquiry in for the player and it is nothing more than that.

RAH, YNWA

28 Dec 2012 08:52:58
Hello Ed002,
any chance Reina leaves this window? thanks. {Ed002's Note - I don't know of plans for him to leave in January.}

If Butland comes in them yes

28 Dec 2012 09:19:00
Liverpool are very interested in signing Benat of Real Betis - Tidy midfielder, good tackler and great on the ball

28 Dec 2012 09:16:36
RAFA wants Stevie at chelski! Stevie open to move to link up with rafa and torres again, sees it as one last chance for possible title glory. RODGERS is interested in working with Lampard! Possible player swap on the cards???

I doubt this will happen as gerrard was one off the players that lost faith in benitez when he was at liverpool. you could see gerrards body language when benitez made silly subs. having said that i could see lfc approaching chelsea for lampard

This is the worst post ive seen on here in the last 2 years! EPIC FAIL
LeeWils

Go back to your own site you dreamer

Omg this rivals the lord of the rings for fantisy who wrote this RUMOUR J RR tolkin

Torres struggled at chelsea because lampard cole essien mikel etc couldn't find a defense splitting pass nor cross early into the box. H he now has that 1st time pass into channels option in mata,hazard and oscar. Chelsea do not need Gerrard for this. Lampard also doesn't do the donkkey work like Gerrard. He may get more goals (mostly pens anyway) ut he doesn't know how to close down,man mark,track back or switch from a centre roll.
It's why regardless of the assists and goals ratio to games each player has majority of the world believe Gerrard is better he has a wider game,and can do more on the pitch. If there was ever a player swap between these 2,i'd also expect a large cash incentive given this and the 2 year age gap

OMG! WAT A LOAD OF NONSENSE! Gerrard is not leaving. He is happy with BR's project. He will sign a new contract, Rafa is a TEMP chelsi manager and when Falcao signs for Chelsi, Torres will leave! so i really do not know why Gerrard would leave Liverpool for the most unstable club in the PL.
J

Gerrard got rid of Rafa at anfield

You sound like the S*n, Daily Mirror & Daily Star combined... u r a fool!!

Ha. Gerrard and Lampard are in different leagues

Lampard is well better at the moment, gerrard has been no where near his best for the last 3 years, id take that swap

28 Dec 2012 08:22:35
Liverpool are in talks with birmingham for jack butland bout 6mil promising keeper reina needs competition. ince butland and sturridge in thats all we havent got the cash rodgers has said that!

28 Dec 2012 08:00:58
Liverpool in talks with Birmingham over a 6 million move for Jack Butland, confirmed by one of the Birmingham board members and SSN. Question to the Eds is Pepe on his way out? {Ed052's Note - he could well be in the summer yes - he wants Champions league}

Pepe wants champions league lol! Hes not good enough for champions league, the only thing he has going for him is his kicks. Also butland is a horrible replacement, how can you swap an experienced keeper with youngster who hasnt proved nothing?? RedTurk

Agree....Reina has ideas in his head about himself. His form has fallen off a cliff in the last two years and not sure which CL club would take him as their 1st choice. As for his kicks, he couldn't even perfect that properly against Stoke the other night. In the case of Butland its just same old same old....young english player way overrated and overvalued on the back of a few good games. I understand he has been pretty average at best for Birmingham this season but no better team in Europe to overpay for a player than us

I understand why Pepe wants to leave. But based on his form over the last 6 months, I would sell him.

J

"Pepe wants champions league lol! Hes not good enough for champions league, the only thing he has going for him is his kicks. Also butland is a horrible replacement, how can you swap an experienced keeper with youngster who hasnt proved nothing? RedTurk"

I believe you would also question why Man City "replaced" Shay Given with Joe Hart??...

28 Dec 2012 02:40:01
What did Ed002 mean by "it is interesting you mention Lampard"?

I for one would be happy, short term fix and scores goals from midfield, although I think Ed 002 is having a laugh at all this ;)

28 Dec 2012 02:31:04
Saw some reports linking Di Santo to Liverpool FC,
God, I would rather keep Carroll than bringing him in..

Not much difference if you ask me

Id Liverpool sign Di Santo, i will burn my liverpool top and wipe my hands. The board and knew manager are turning this club into a very average side. Once Gerrard and Carra retire, Suarez will leave for a huge team like Barca or Madrid and we will be a mid table team.

I dont agree with the sturridge signing at all. Or Ince for that matter.

HOPELESS!!!

Clearly it's very lazy journalism

M

Nah i'd rather buy back ngog than keep carroll

28 Dec 2012 00:53:04
Hey Eds, we were being linked with Burak Yilmaz a while back but im guessing he won't be coming since they are still in the champions league and his club would only let him leave on a hefty price. Is there any chance
Thanks {Ed002's Note - Burak Yilmaz has attracted interest in the past nine months from Sevilla, Spurs, Fulham, Dortmund, Beyer Leverkusen and Newcastle. There are also unconfirmed rumours of interest from Liverpool dating from as long ago as early June. Lazio and Lokomotiv Moscow have both spoken with the player after the clubs agreed that they would meet the asking price from Galatasaray - but I would think that has now risen with his recent performances. Atletico Madrid are very keen to discuss a move for the player but I suspect that a move before the summer is unlikely.}

28 Dec 2012 00:33:48
So Franco Di Santo is going to rescue our season? Oh well Championship here we come....seriously though, with the money skunked on scouting etc you would think we could do better than that? Jeez if we are going down that route I'd rather take a punt on Jordan Rhodes, Di Santo is shocking, Sturridge is bad enough, it would mean 4 crap ex Chelsea players on the books... Next BR will be lining up John Terry as our big summer signing with fat Frank. {Ed002's Note - It is interesting you mention Lampard.}

Believe everything you read in the papers? Tis a shame.

Unfortunately there is no smoke without fire and be honest, when was the last time we made a signing that was genuinely exciting? The owners clearly want mid table obscurity or less. Ferguson didn't knock us off our perch, we did it ourselves.

Liverpool Football Club, 1892-2012, cause of death, bad management...

You serious ed??

Agreed here,we need to sack the scouts or if it is BR signing these low level players him. This is LFC not a backwater club. {Ed002's Note - So that is the scouts out as well.}

Dont be silly!
Obviously the owners do not want mid table obscurity? Why the hell would they want that?

Sturridge also is not awful and nor is santos. Do i want santos...No, but he is not awful at all

Lampard on a free in jan might be a good option for us.

I love the way we are consider to be in such a bad state, we are trying something that no other owner or manager has done and that is Run a business that will succeed not for the short term but for the long term....having success on and off the pitch. I personally think the owners have gone about it in the right way, fans who expect the massive name signings need to have a rethink. We can no longer afford the big names on £200000 a week so we have to find young stars that will come good and give us a bright future.

No. Please don't say "bad management", my friend, who is a Blackburn supporter, will kill you.

I take Brendan's word that we will be financially tight in Jan but we can free up some funds for summer transfer.

Morning all,

Just having a smile at Eds mention of Frank (lets not call him fat as he clearly isn`t)Lampard. Bit of fun on eds part perhaps? anyway think about it. Is he better than what we have right now? If he was available for two years he would massively help the young guys and give them time to develop with less pressure. Shelvey, Henderson, Allen, Suso are all quite a way off being where we need them to be to compete with the better sides. I`ve gone past all the bollox of slating somebody because they play for another side, if he can help take him. We need experience to go with the youth right now.

Seriously why is crap like this even put into the 'rumours' section?!

Ed002, you aren't suggesting there is interest in Lampard are you?

He should already be sacked by now. All he's signings have been crap.

Did you read the article linking us with Di Santo?

It suggested that Di Santo is out of contract in the summer and that it appealed to Liverpool that he could be brought in for free. This would mean spending money in other areas rather than a squad striker as a back up.

So I think that seems like one of two things -

1. Lazy Journalism - Di Santo out of contract,, hhmm who might go for him... Liverpool need striker... ohh didn't Rogers work with him at Chelsea...

2. Agent Talk - Di Santo currently negotiating a new deal... what we need is a link to a top club to boost our pay demands ... hhmm... Liverpool need striker... ohh didn't Rogers work with him at Chelsea...

So for me a large pinch of salt needed.

Thomas

Just because a paper links us with a player doesn't mean we are buying them if we did we would have cavani mata villa silva aguero etc etc wise up
