Liverpool to make 1 more signing before season starts so ive been informed but all is on hold as expected departures have not gone to plan, LB is the area they have required but we need to off load before signing can be completed. Pre season has been a let down recently but KK needs to get a buyer for some of these players [ 4 of them ]

Hi ed, just heard bolten sed they will accept 10 mill for cahill any chance of us bidding? {Ed002's Note - I find that tough to believe, but sure there is a chance.}

Hi Ed, was ( is ) liverpool interested in lavezzi? And is them interested in godin an perreira?Please post {Ed002's Note - No, possibly, probably.}

Hi eds just wondering if there is any interest in hamburg striker Paolo Gurrero(spelling) i thought he impressed at the copa america
Thanks zach {Ed002's Note - None that I am aware of.}

My sauce just told me Aguero to Liverpool in the region of £42.5m, expect to be announced on saturday.

Thank god the Aguero rumours will stop, quality signing for city though.

Mata to Arsenal for potentially £15m, looks like we may have missed out if this is true, but he is not settled in England so you never know.

Looking forward to seeing Henderson, Downing, Suarez and Carroll together.

Eds, any thoughts or info on potential signings or relatively new interest? {Ed002's Note - Nothing today.}

Liverpool are believed to be at the head of the queue to sign Celtic full back Emilio Izaguirre.

The Honduras international was a revelation in his debut season in the SPL winning both the Scottish PFA Player of the Year Award and the Scottish Football Writers Player of the Year Award. While Celtic are reluctant to lose the services of such a classy footballer, they might be unable to turn doen the opportunity to make a tidy profit on a player they bought for just £450,000 12 months ago.

mata to arsenal for 13.5 mill.....wow how our eye's have been well and truely ripped out for the prices we paid for henderson and downing......dc and kk been had big style and i can see it back firing big style

28 Jul 2011 21:12:05
Not so much a rumour but a question. Do any of the eds have any info as to whether we are still interested in Elia? Looks a great player and would solve our need for pace and I think he might be available for 12mill? Does anyone know the situation? Thanks
The Poacher {Ed002's Note - No, there is no interest in the player and he will be staying in Hamburg at least for another year.}

Don't read too much into pre season games , yes Carroll was not a 35 million player , he will not pay so deep when first eleven out . So many big names missing , it was Liverpool b maybe c . Gala at home loads of players who don't want to be there . We have to shift 5-6 players and raise 15 mill . Don't forget Carroll and Suarez almost a free for Torres , loved him but he probably on form was worth what we paid for him

28 Jul 2011 21:08:19
What a load of tosh that was Good job we got Meireles, pepe, carra, glen, Adam, suarez, agger, lucas, gerrard, downing to come into the team

Great site BTW.

I need to get a few things off my chest

1.Has anyone noticed that there has been no mention of the injuries to Gerrard, Johnson, Reina, Agger, Aurelio and Skrtle and the fact that we have only 2 more games left and they haven't played yet

2.Two pre season games left and not even started playing anything resembling a first team.

3.Defence has conceded 3 goals per game.

4. Andy Carroll seems a big worry

What do all Pool fans think?

"If this is #LFC fringe players putting themselves in the shop window, then that shop is more Poundland than Waitrose" tweet by Rory Smith of the Telegraph

28 Jul 2011 21:06:53
We pay 35 million for carroll, city pay roughly the same price for aguero. Carrol is awkward slow and has a terrible touch.
--------------------------------------------
We don't need Aguero mate, we've got Luis. And City payed 28 mill for Dzeko and Carroll is better than Dzeko.

Why is everyone moaning about carroll he isn't going to be able to do much in the air from supply from degen and insua and especially with poulsen sitting behind him support the lad just watch when he has Henderson and downing supplying him (please post in rumours) Adam

28 Jul 2011 21:05:53
The following players are absolute garbage and don't deserve to play for Liverpool: Joe Cole, Poulson, Shelvey (how anyone can compare him to Gerrard is talking a load of b.....ks), Insua, The Greek etc. I am a big LFC fan, but so disappointed with the players we have gone. We need to get rid of the deadwood quickly and bring n some more quality. Thank god we have El Pistolero, King Luis

28 Jul 2011 20:58:15
The only person to come out of this game with the slightest bit of credit is flano. I trust kk but I can't understand what he thought he would get out of this game with the team he picked, unless its to show the owners that a better squad is required to push for a top 4 spot

28 Jul 2011 20:58:13
Well for me there are two positives from this game:
- Alberto Aquilani showed his class
- Ed002 suggested the first online streaming site that has worked for me.
Terrible performance even from the team we fielded which included 'first teamers' Kelly, Kuyt and Carroll who all looked poor against an equally poor Galatasary side. Sorry to rant and i know its a friendly but two 3-0 losses in a row is appalling (and for all i know it could be 4 or 5 nil as i turned it off after Elmander's goal.) Shame. Lets hope for better against Valencia. Cheers ed's your doing an absolutely brilliant job.

Can't believe the one player that's looks ok tonight is the one player that's more than likely to go this window. I really think we should keep aqua I think the season loan done him the world of good really think he can help this season dose any one agree James

28 Jul 2011 20:55:59
Not mamy players out there tonight are good enough for liverpool and that includes carroll some seruous work still to be done in this window i.e a striker , right winger , centre back, and I dont mean players with just potential I mean top class otherwise next season could be worse than last great site eds. iris

28 Jul 2011 20:55:36
i know this prob wont be put on the site but will say it anyway.

i know its only friendlies and all that but in our last 2 games conceding 6 goals and scoring none surely isnt good for the confidence and we have looked awful

28 Jul 2011 20:55:03
can anyone tell me how good enrique is , ave heard he is good but ave seen very little, just that some say he is average?

28 Jul 2011 20:54:00
Hi eds another question

How come skrtel hasnt featured in any friendlies?

More chance of signing pereira or cissokho?

I really hope one of these two qill be signed as i dont think enrique has good enough defensive abilities

Update on Dann as well maybe?

Thanks so much, site is great
Sorry about so many questions

Mac {Ed023's Note - as soon as liverpool bid for Dann I think he will sign though with the turmoil at Brum it is worth waiting to launch a bid in cut price deal mate. Cissokho and Enrique will end up at Liverpool and arsenal most likly. How ever makes first move in my opinion}

28 Jul 2011 20:53:20
Where are all those pro-Carroll fans who say he is a class player- gone very quiet i think- these are the same people that say that we should be happy with the signings so far and that kenny has something up his sleeve- give me a break

28 Jul 2011 20:53:14
Hi all, I've posted a few times about north east Players as that's where I live and played with a lot of the north east players based in the prem. It's not massive news but Adam Johnson won't be signing, man city going to offer him better contract to keep him at the club as Chelsea showing strong interest. So he will be staying at city, I'm a Liverpool fan so gutted, but i think downing is a better all round player. When Johnson signs new deal I hope you remember this post ;0)

28 Jul 2011 20:52:57
I'm getting more worried by the day.
Crap in defence and not only have we
spent 35 mil on Carroll but approx another
35 mil to supply him with crosses.Hope this
plan work or c/l football will just be a
distant memory.

Big signing following the gala game , all players to sign the match ball

28 Jul 2011 20:49:18
lets face it roy hodgson must of been smoking crack thinking christian poulson could be a regular in the liverpool team what on earth was his reasoning.

28 Jul 2011 20:49:04
I know Aquilani is quality on the ball, but have anyone ever seen him attempt a tackle let alone make one. I just don't think we can afford a passenger in the EPL especially I we play 4-4-2.

28 Jul 2011 20:47:36
Poulsen will move to Fulham for £1.2mil. Fulham will give him a signing on fee of around £400k to compensate for a lower wage.

David N'gog will go on loan to Bolton

Joe Cole will go to Blackburn for a bargain imo of £2mil as their Indian Owners will match his wages

Insua will go to Sporting for £3mil

Ayala will go on loan to Hull and Kyrgiakos will be given a free transfer if any club will match his wages.

Jovanovic is on his way to Anderlecht.

Raul Meireles will go to Juventus for £13mil after they sold Momo Sissoko. Shelvey will be available for loan.

Aquilani will stay.

28 Jul 2011 20:46:00
Ed, i have to say that is more like an opportunity to put the deadwood players on view for sale rather than a friendly for fitness, disappointed Red, dont know where the first team is going to get their fitness from for the start of the season.(rumours plz)

Can someone tell me why we bought Carroll for 35 million. He's slow, his passing is poor, and he lopes around everywhere

28 Jul 2011 20:41:52
why take carroll and not take wingers no 1 can knock a decent cross in box carrolls looking like a £10 million player.

Hi eds

Just a quick question please

Whats happening with Aurelio and Meireles?

Neither have featured in friendlies have they?

Thanks

Mac {Ed023's Note - Aurelio is a good player when fit but if liverpool get a new LB i think he might move on as for Meireles im not sure whats the plans for him, good for strength in depth in my opinion mate}

28 Jul 2011 20:33:54
We all sit here and talk about Aquilani going on loan and reducing the high wage bill which he a attributes to. One question, do we not think the man is actually a very good player and warrants a large salary. We have played 4 pre-season games now and he is has featured in all - and in my opinion the only one who has consistently shone. Why are we thinking of selling this man at a 'supposed' £8m loss, when in fact he actually has ability and does make things click. He is always that 1 sec ahead of other players and if he linked up with Suarez, Gerrard & Downing I honestly think he would be a massive asset.

28 Jul 2011 20:33:00
Watching the Gala game and it is interesting that Kenny fielded a very weak starting team of what is known as the "Deadwood." If this is for shop window purposes it really didn't help Degen - he is woeful. Poulsen and Shelvey have been really poor too. In the second half Liverpool has been much better - with the difference being... yes you guessed it... AQUILANI. He's the only player with any class whatsoever - and his passing has been exquisite. We're still losing 2-0 and the only thing to be got from this game is that Aqua has to stay (Please post in rumours)

28 Jul 2011 20:10:38
Hey ed, regarding the aquilani situation, you say his agent is pushing for higher wages, could you confirm is he after more than what he is currently on? Or more than what the new loan deal is offering?
MIKEY {Ed002's Note - Higher than is on offer.}

28 Jul 2011 19:37:01
Red Ledgened i doubt all the other teams will think were mugs mate, or they'd have bid for him themselves at the price your quoting. We've got Downing, live with it mate. How many FULL games have all these Mata fans actually seen him play, besides the Euro under 21's were he should of stood out being 23 and all his La Liga games. I'm not disputing he's a quality player but you'd think more clubs would be after his signiture if he was the next big thing. I know they show Spansih football on Sly Sports but how many times have Valencia been on. Those who have seen him play on a reg, i'm not calling you're judgement into question, its those who've jumped on band wagon because he's from Spain with an exotic name, Juan Mata sounds like he's a better player then plain old Stew Downing eh. Would love Mata to join, but would love a top class centre half to join first, and a left back. Glad we've got the target we set out to get first though which like it or lump it, is Stewart Downing. All got a close pal who is an explayer now works as an agent, he called me today to say Adam Johnson is there for the taking if Liverpool want him. Eds what do you think our chances are of signing him?

All Scott Dann has told his agent Liverpool is where i want to go

Redman 10 {Ed002's Note - Chances of signing Adam are slim I suspect.}

28 Jul 2011 18:29:02

28 Jul 2011 18:23:15
Hey Ed, where do you expect tevez to be offloaded? Obviously I don't believe he will sign for us, but if we made a move I would certainly not be opposed to it.. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not going to bid for Tevez. His long term goal was always to play for Real Madrid. I think if a fee can be agreed it is a likely destination.}

28 Jul 2011 17:44:12
why does every 1 keep goin on about Juan Mata its obvious were not after him and that no1 else will be signed until we get rid of the "deadwood". We are only building this season to get back in the champions league, then we can buy the household names

28 Jul 2011 16:52:46
Valencia technical secretary Bralui Vazquez believes playmaker Juan Mata, heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, will stay at the Spanish side. "I hope that he will stay with Valencia and I think he will do so. We have not received any offers, " he toldThere may still be hope for all you dreamers

28 Jul 2011 15:58:46
eds any idea if we've had a look at leandro damiao from internacional and how much he's going for? i know spurs have shown an interest. watching him in the audi cup and he looks pretty decent, scored against bayern munich yesterday and again against ac milan today. i know another striker probably isn't a priority but if we do get round to getting 1 he could be worth a shout (depending on transfer fee, wages etc.)

ryanmc73 {Ed001's Note - I have not heard of any interest and I really feel you are going to be disappointed if you are judging players on their performances in friendlies}

just coz it was a friendly doesnt mean he would turn out to be a bad player and considering we don't get a lot of brazilian tv shown over here then theres not too many chances to see him anywhere else, but if theres been no interest then fair enough was just curious

ryanmc73 {Ed002's Note - There has been interest from Fiorentina at arounf 18M euro.}

28 Jul 2011 15:25:25
Eds, What's the deal with Mata possibly moving to Arsenal for 15M? I thought there was a buy-out clause in his contract for over 20M... Surely a player of his calibre is worth over 15M in today's market... {Ed002's Note - I am not sure what the question is. There are a number}

28 Jul 2011 15:24:46
Hi EDs,
Just wondering if you think that KK sees Downing as a good role model for young Raheem Sterling and has been brought in with one eye on aiding his development? Obviously this would not have been the only reason we signed the player, but may be more suited to help him than a Mata-esque player. I think that Raheem just needs to improve his strength and final ball a little before we see him in the PL (we don't want him to become a Lennon figure). Thoughts ED?
Thanks
Glov3z the Red {Ed002's Note - Downing was certainly not bought in with Sterling in mind. I doubt Downing will have anything to do with the youth squad.}

28 Jul 2011 16:17:15
Looks like Juan Mata could be an Arsenal player by the weekend, for a fee reported to be worth £13.5M.

28 Jul 2011 16:15:36
I rate Eccelston he had another good performance in the reserves but I think just like Pacheco he will have to move elsewhere to continue his development.

Does anyone expect him to play a part this season or move on?

28 Jul 2011 15:59:02
I think what Liverpool have done it the transfer market this term has been fantastic, quality has been signed and we are making a concerted effort to offload the none essential players in the squad. Letts not panic, there s plenty of time left in the window to get all are dealings done, letts not forget where we were 12 months ago

I think we have waited a decent amount of time before buying Enrique due to Thomo s (done deal) outburst earlier this summer, if we had have gone straight in and signed him it would not have looked good, tapping up etc.

I also have on good authority that we are waiting to see what events unfold at Birmingham before making any approach for Dann. If his price tag does not drop significantly you will see us making an approach for Cahill.

I see the loan deal with Aquilani has fallen through what about Liverpool trading him for Vargas? and topping up Aqualani's contract to appease the wage demands so Fiorentina can afford him.
Rodney

28 Jul 2011 13:37:25
Everyone seems to be forgetting that a team can only register 25 players. Those considered deadwood won't be eligible for EPL matches anyways. On to other Transfer news... expect liverpool to sign Enrique before the window closes. The club are waiting to see how serious Birmingham's Financial troubles before bidding for Dann. reports of Mata or any other marquee signings are incorrect. The club is looking for established Epl players to get us back into the top four. When we get there next season expect another busy summer. You heard it first here... Liverpools Tanzanian source

28 Jul 2011 13:25:48
Ed002 please post on rumours and tell what is your take on Mata now? I am asking this not in any hope we will sign him but if he stays at Valencia that Liverpool may go back next term, given Maxi Kuyt will be a year older and Downing can play at right. Is he close to signing for Arsenal {Ed002's Note - I suspect Mata will sign for Arsenal unless a late bid is made by Manchester United, Chelsea or Barcelona. If he stays at Valencia then of course Liverpool could go after him next year. But as I said previously, Downing was the number one target and I could not see both players being bought.}

28 Jul 2011 12:47:48
hi ed, guillem balague has just tweeted, that mata's family and his dad arriving in london to talk to teams is false, so how can arsenal be on the verge of signing him, could we still be in with a chance?thx ed, jimmybosun, {Ed002's Note - I have not said anything about Arsenal being on the verge of signing the player. I very much doubt he will be moving to LIverpool as Downing has signed already.}

28 Jul 2011 12:32:33
Just heard from close melwood source that Scott Dann, Jose Enrique, Shane Long and Matt Jarvis are players KK wants to bring in.

------------------------

All these signings apart from shane long would be great as i dont think long is good enough, i would much rather sturridge or give kuyt the chance he will put them in with suarez feeding him

28 Jul 2011 12:31:37
Ed is the Aquilani move completely off now? Where is Aquilani in all of this? Surely if his agent is the problem he should be pulling him in to line?

DownUnderRed. {Ed002's Note - All I know is that his agent wanted more money for the player - so we can do nothing but wait to see what happens.}

28 Jul 2011 12:25:20
Obviously Enrique is the LB we want, just the fact we haven't moved any players on why we cant sign him... If Arsenal wanted him they could of easily made a bid now EXPECT HIM TO SIGNNNN

28 Jul 2011 12:24:05
Morning Eds and all,

Jova is off to Anderlecht next, confirmed by his agent to press. They do not see any problems occurring.

Poulson has gained interest form English clubs but LFC have not confirmed he is for sale yet According to his agent who spoke to SSN.

Aqua - WTF is going on? Seems we want to sell, but to do so it seems we will have to drop his price, it seems our enthusiasm to sell has given potential buyers the upper hand. Still think loan to buy is most likely.

Have we stalled on buying players until we sell, press say yes but LFC have not stated this is the case.

Ngog I think seems to be staying as asking price, even in my opinion is too high, but Bolton want him and we are interested in Cahill - can it be done? Will Ngog refuse them over wages? More than likely

Am I worried about this? No, Aqua has shown his class and I think the young players are quality back up. We have strikers in Suarez, Carroll, Kuyt and prob Ngog. Would like a left back though.

Eds, do you think we could still bid for Aguero as Manc have not announced it yet? Ha ha ha sorry

Bazzaa

28 Jul 2011 11:57:11
I am starting to get worried about DC and KK's transfer policy, it looks to have back-fired, and now the wage bill is out of control, at least 5 or 6 players needed to be got rid of before we started buying, now it looks like we are stuck with them, this situation is holding back the progression of our young players, our midfield has now got so many players, its a fiascoim not sure DC is up to the job.

Liverpool to bid 14 mil for Van Der Vart from totenham Kenny is a big admirer and Van Der Vart would feel we have a better chance of champions league football

28 Jul 2011 10:47:04
Hi all
We all know that King Kenny wants homegrown players and many brits are the way to succes and stability on the team Therefore I think Leighton Baines should make a move from Everton to Liverpool. Leighton Baines published in 2004 that he use to be a Liverpool FC supporter. I think that he is a much better player than the Enrique plus he is British - English - from Liverpool/Kirkby Buy him for whatever the price

Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani's proposed move to Fiorentina has fallen through, reports . The Italian international is believed to have stalled on the move as he would prefer a permanent deal rather than another loan switch.

morning eds

the whole aquilani saga is getting a little annoying, I know alot of fans have said, they wish him to stay and you guys have often said he has told anyone who is willing to listen that he wants to leave - but something is amiss here, do you not think? i mean, he was one of the stand out italian players in his own league last year 1) we arent able to agree with anyone even at a cut down price 2) he seems to be demanding all kinds of wages and seeing transfers fall through (seems strange we cant shift a player who wishes to leave)
have you guys heard any more on it?
cheers eds

Ray {Ed002's Note - The issue I am told is wages and his agent wanting more.}

SSN are saying Aquilani loan deal has fallen through because he preferred a permanent move. Doesnt add up- he knew all along it was a loan, so why object on that basis now?

Eds, what's your thoughts on this?
With 4 weeks to go before the window closes, he is starting to run things close, if he is really serious about wanting a return to Italy.

How likely do you think it is that another club will have time to come in with a deal before the window closes?
LFC have made the deal as cheap as they can, right?
Are there other clubs showing interest at the moment, or this move not likely to happen? {Ed002's Note - The underlying issue is over his wages - and it is his agent causing the problem.}

Ed(s) - as usual, great site and keep up the good work you all do.
What's the very latest on Aquaman's impending loan to Fiorentina? Reading previous posts and comments I thought we would have heard something official by now. Also, what's the latest on Jova, Poulsen, Miereles & NGog interest, Degen's release and do you have anything on Insua?
Lots of questions lads but I need to get them outta my head before a boring day at work Please post replies.
Great job lads

JFT 96 {Ed002's Note - All I know of the Aquilani situation is that there is an issue over his wages and his agent is being difficult over the matter. This delay will not please Liverpool or Fiorentina.}

Just heard from close melwood source that Scott Dann, Jose Enrique, Shane Long and Matt Jarvis are players KK wants to bring in.

Aquamans loan deal has fallen through, yet another player we can't get rid of, we have far too many midfielders on our books, this situation will stiffle the chances of youth players progressing, if we want to see real evolement from the academy, then space must be created by shedding the deadwood.

It's not really Liverpool related but my bird works as an air hostess for BA and flew Aguero to Manchester yesterday so he could complete his signing and she only just decided to tell me this morning.

The Midlands football correspondent for the mirror (can't remember his name) was on talkS**te this morning saying that Scott Dann has a pre-agreement in place to sign for Stoke.

Expect news to break soon of Steven Warnock returning to Liverpool. Dalglish sees him as the perfect example to Robinson and will have two players who will fight for the shirt. Kenny wants it to happen...........not going to be Steve Staunton :)

Jose Enrique still very much remains the number one target for the left back spot while the CD will come from either Dann or Godin. KK is also looking for a striker with pace and also another winger but they are not priorities in this window although a striker could still sign.

Hey Ed's nemre updates on gerrards injury, would be a real shame to see him sidelined during such an important season for the club. Also know anything more about the rumours surrouding Godin, is there any interest by Liverpool in the player.. Cheers... and kissess... and stuff.... {Ed009's Note - There definitely is interest in Godin, but it would be foolish to read into it anymore at this time and the player will certainly not be bought until outgoings are dealt with.}

Apparently Juan Matas patents in london to discuss 15 million move to the gunners Ed does that mean we have given up hope?
Thanks for doing such a great job fellas {Ed009's Note - I don't think we have had hope, or particular care, for a long time now.}
