Alright Eds, heard Jorginho of Verona being bandied about? Do we hold any interest?

Im very excited about our upcoming season! I think we can definitely at least CHALLENGE top four. {Ed002's Note - Chelsea spoke to Verona about buying Jorginho and loaning him back for a year but he will be very much a squad type player. Manchester City and Crystal Palace have also enquired, but like Chelsea, would only see him as a squad player. I don't know of Liverpool interest at this time.}

Anyone watching the U20 World Cup would have been sure to be impressed by Columbia's Juan Quintero.

The commentators mentioned something about him going to Udinese (from Pescara). Is this true Ed's, or do any other teams hold an interest? {Ed002's Note - Pescara's Quintero will move this summer with what seemed his likely destination of Genoa perhaps worrying about interest from Benfica, Porto and Rubin Kazan.}

Real Madrid have shifted their interest from Cavani to Suarez because they feel the Napoli man is too expensive and doesn't represent as much value for money as his compatriot {Ed002's Note -Real Madrid has another player in mind right now - there is some distance to go with their shopping.}

Believable7 Unbelievable14

Another striker? {Ed002's Note - Yes. I have explained repeatedly that RM are not the only club interested in Suarez and Suarez is not the only player that interests them.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Bearing in mind what your reply was ed, can you elaborate on what you believe their strategy represents so far, in regards to suraez {Ed002's Note - They won't have a specific "strategy" in respect of Suarez. He is a player that has been offered to them, amongst other sides, and they may well be making a bid. an offer was expected last week and never materialised. They are also looking to other players. This is the same approach taken by most clubs - like Liverpool has done with the centre backs. If they make an offer I expect in the first instance it will be low with a youngster they no longer required offered up as well. There is nothing "special" about Suarez - at least not in respect of transfers.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers Ed, any chance in letting us know who the other striker is they were interested in Aguero were they not some time back? As for Suarez still wouldn't mind him staying as he is a quality footballer, either way the club will move onwards. {Ed002's Note - Jovetic.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed are Liverpool themseleves offering suarez to clubs or his agent trying tohget him a move?

So Ed002, Real have dropped their interest in Luis? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - No.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed's, why is it that LFC simply get rid of Suarez by offering him to Real Madrid for one of the strikers + miss. I mean surely a Suarez for Higuain + Di Maria and 10M looks tasty and realistic. Di Maria has been linked to Spurs and yet they are ONLY in Europa league. I'm sure we could negotiate his deal, as same as with Higuain. All in all, I bust think LFC must act fast. Also, just a thought, IF El Sharaawy wants out, we could bid for him using the Suarez money, could we not. Whether he considers CL into account is another thing, but you never know till you try, we got Suarez without CL didn't we and he was probably in the Top 50 Soccer Players at that time due to his phenominal scoring record at Ajax. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not offered Suarez to Real Madrid at all. You appear to have drifted off in to some strange fantasy land.}

hey eds. are we still in for Facundo Ferreyra? {Ed002's Note - Velez Sarsfield's Facundo Ferreyra has attracted the attentions of Juventus, Catania, Everton, Fulham and Inter Milan this past season with Inter making several alternate proposals to take the player to Italy including a part ownership agreement. Inter are actively looking to force the transfer by making a recent offer to Banfield to purchase outright their 50% share of the player and Bologna continue to work on a deal. Nothing involving Liverpool.}

Eds, do you know if LFC have scouted Alexsander Dragovic?
What is his situation and fee if available? {Ed002's Note - There has been interest in Dragovic from Sunderland, Arsenal and Lille although a move to Inter seems the likely result.}

Also any interest in Phillippe Hosiner. only 24 and scored lots of goals?
Thanks for the great updates {Ed001's Note - no and no.}

Henrik Mkhitarian is the top scorer in the Ukraine.He also plays for the Armenian national team.His father Hamlet had played for ARARAT yerevan Armenia.His mother was a sportswoman too.If signed by Liverpool he will be the second Armenian playing in the premier league, the first being Teymourian of Bolton who is the captain of the national team of Iran.

Just curious as to our supposed previous targets like James mcCarthy,
Erik Pieters, Arda Turan, Tom Ince and Nolan Roux( I think that was the young striker we had a look at before could be wrong)

Are all these pretty much off our radar now or is there still interest on our side in any?

Hey eds. There's been a lot of talk about Barcelona youngsters coming to Liverpool on loan. Deulofeu in particular. I don't see it as particularly smart to loan in a 19 year old. That being said, if we go for him, what are the chances we buy him? I don't think we are lacking in youth so a loan move seems dumb {Ed002's Note - Liverpool will not be buying him.}

Eds, we're linked and are signing a lot of young European players who are untried at Premiership level. Coutinho has been a brilliant signing so I'm hopeful that Brendan's scouting team are on the ball so to speak. I would like us to put a bid in for Micah Richards - although he is a very similar type of player to Andre Wisdom he would be a brilliant addition. Additionally, I'm sure he's mindful he needs to play regular football leading up to the World Cup next year. Have you heard anything Ed? {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any Liverpool interest in Micah Richards at this time.}

Believable6 Unbelievable16

Richards! Really! Leave it to the professionals.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was sat behind me in the main stand for the first half of the Chelsea game this season, bit of strange one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Please no, not Richards he is pants.

Agree0 Disagree0

Richards has been to several Liverpool matches this year. He is besties with Daniel Sturridge.

Agree0 Disagree0

How is Richards pants? He's big, strong and quick. He needs improvement in his reading of the game, especially at centre back he can get caught out but he's young enough to learn and improve. I don't want him, wouldn't mind if we did go get him, but to be fair he's a decent player.

Agree0 Disagree0

I accept that he is big, strong and quick however he is an appalling footballer, cannot pass, prone to mistakes and lapses in concentration and quite frankly an awful defender, the fact that he's English means that we would also get mugged on price too. We would be better at going for Sakho who would cost less, IS a good defender and is also big, strong and quick.

Agree0 Disagree0

I haven't seen much of Sakho but even from reading this page religiously he sounds like he would be a great addition to our team. I agree with you on Richards being prone to mistakes but there's no way I'd call him useless (i.e. pants). my point being I don't think we should go to town on players who we just don't want unless people actually think that they are useless.

We were linked (through rumours here from ppl) with Franco Di Santo in January. I think he's pants and I came on and said it so my point is fair enough if people do think someone is useless but I think Richards is alright.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sean dude, Richards is the new Titus bramble IMHO!

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2013 18:43:17
Surely, the question is in what way would Richards improve our squad? He's an inferior full back to Glen Johnson, a pre-injury Martin Kelly (even Roy Hodgson spotted that), and probably Andre Wisdom, &, although its his long term role, an inferior Centre Back to pretty much anyone who played there for us this last season Toldham FA Cup game excluded). I find it difficult to believe Inter are really interested. Sunderland maybe. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Not Richards. Got Kelly and Johnson and Wisdom

Agree0 Disagree0

No name - not surprised you didn't sign your post. Richards the new Bramble is your honest opinion?

I think Richards is alright, would not mind if we signed him but I'm not looking for us to sign him. I just see it as pointless calling ok players useless. some people were calling for him to start ahead of Johnson for England 18 months ago, Inter Milan interested in him - would they be interested in Bramble, I don't think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

In NO way, shape of form is Wisdom better than Richards! Richards is an extremely competent player at CB who doesn't get turned too often. We haven't seen kelly in action about 2 years so you can drop that notion!

Richards can still learn a lot, he's played with great defenders and he's athletically gifted. He would be a terriffic purchase

Hi Ed do you think it would be possible for you guys to put up a list of signings and departures followed by how much we spent and recieved? it would be very interesting and also how it alters our wage bill would be fantastic is it possible {Ed002's Note - That is not going to happen - the finances simply confuse people and then they get upset to find out there will be another £10M (or whatever) spent on agent fees this summer.}

Believable9 Unbelievable3

28 Jun 2013 11:41:34
If your looking for some basic - and as Ed002 says there is a bucket load of add on's we don't understand or have any measure of - then you should have a look at transfermarkt.co.uk on the front page there is a list of the in's and outs for all EPL clubs and more if you look. The numbers are pretty course, but its intersting enough, not nearly as informative as here - but nonetheless a source to use.

Lets hope for more improvement this coming year and a tilt at CL. Cheers all,

Suffolk'nRed {Ed002's Note - Actually they take their numbers from a commercial database that uses extracts from the transfer fees recorded with UEFA - but it does not include agent fees, taxes etc.. However, they do not take the regular updates to the database so during the season some of the information may be less reliable. But in general terms the transfer fees, at least for the summer, should be correct if they have not manipulated the data. I would warn against other data on the site, such as values of players etc..}

Agree0 Disagree0

What a suprise. My earlier post was ignored! Thanks Ed.

You have your favourites hey!

Sinister Red {Ed002's Note - Actually I did not see your earlier post so your assumptive statement regarding favourites makes you look a bit of an ass. Perhaps another editor deleted it. Feel free to send it in and mark it for my attention.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I know the financial issues are complicated, but do you think it's possible to quantify the amount of additional fees (agents, taxes, etc) spent on a transfer.

For instance, what percentage of a transfer fee should be added to the reported transfer fee to give us an indicator of the true total cost of a transfer (i.e. 5-10%?)? I know that I'm being simplistic, but I'm asking from your experience if there is any *rule of thumb* that can be applied to additional costs of a transfer.

Any ed's please do this. Just don't reply to the half wits ;)

Could van ginkle become a possibility ed? Rumours if him costing just £9m and he's apparently wary of joining Chelsea due to first team opportunities and the World Cup approaching? That is the one thing we could perhaps offer him that Chelsea couldn't although admittedly I've heard of no interest.

I live in Madrid and the rumour here is that Suarez has an agreement with Real Madrid to play next season. However, Real Madrid are going to wait to the very last days of the Transfer window before they make their move.

1. To reduce the amount of games that Suarez is band for and that Madrid would have to pay him to sit in the stand for.

2. They think they can get the price down to Round 30 million euros, as Liverpool will become desperate to sell.

Orrin

Believable21 Unbelievable73

Suarez isn't banned in Spain

RedLee {Ed002's Note - He will be if he moves there.}

Liverpool will not be desperate to sell at all. We are in a win win situation. The player is under contract - needs big money to purchase him. Otherwise we keep a world class player

Suarez is banned from playing in the English prem. The ban doesn't applie in Spain. Eds can u confirm this please.
Magsy {Ed002's Note - If Suarez moves to Spain the Spanish FA will uphold the abn.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we be desperate to sell him on the last few days u mad man complete bs

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez is only banned in the EPL and why would we be desperate to sell if he stays he stays if not then we will replace him!

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats always Reals trick. They won't get him for 30mil maybe 30 mil and a player. We should sell him to athletico, think it would be funny, he gets his wish to leave England and real don't get anything after all the tapping up that they have clearly done but will never be punished for.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2013 09:48:20
Are you mad. First of all do you think the I live in Madrid part of your comment gives credibility to your story. It doesn't. Suarez will be sold if Lfc get the right money for him. For me if that figure is 50m then you can have him. Plus whichever way you look at it he's still going to be banned in Spain. If real want him they're going to have to pay and Lfc will not accept a transfer 3 days before the close.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2013 09:49:35
why would we just suddenly think oh it's the last day of the window we must sell him for cheaper now it just doesn't make sense

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed's are 100% correct. This is a league ban and it applies to any league he might play in. FIFA would back that. Also most posters are correct, no matter when he is sold the price will be the same which should be 50 million plus. It's well documented I am no fan of FSG but I believe they will play what they call "hardball" on this one. {Ed002's Note - Just to be clear. The ban relates to England and any competitive games played under the control of the FA. If the player moves then it is up to the local FA to endorse the ban within their remit. Under all of the UEFA controlled nations, this would happen - so his ban would continue. If he were to move beyond the control of UEFA, it would be unlikely that FIFA would become involved and it would be up to the local FA to decide. If he moved to a country where the FA do not observe the ban, it stays on file and would be imposed if he ever returned to play under a UEFA nation.}

Agree0 Disagree0

That would be a silly move from Madrid in all honesty. It will be Suarez that loses out if Madrid don't come in for him until the last day. We'll just tell them to get lost and Suarez will play here until January.

Agree0 Disagree0

Real Madrid are not the Only game in Town.
Suarez has a few more suitors. with his talent he is going to Champions League next season, but Liverpool will try to get the bidding war on him.

Hairy Yonk.

Agree0 Disagree0

We will be desperate to sell? First time I've heard a team being desperate to sell their most priced assets. I said it again, even if the Eds are saying it will be costly for Liverpool to keep an unhappy player, Suarez himself is not that stupid to play bad coming next season just because he didn't get his transfer.

Simply put, if they don't meet the asking price, in my opinion no less than 45mil pounds in a fixed timeframe, Suarez stays. Why desperate to sell? I'm so perplexed by this pathetic mentality.

Agree0 Disagree0

I really like to see the anger that people feel on this site if it goes against what they think. It also shows that there are a lot of people that comment here that do not even know the slightest thing about football. It goes to show with the comments about the Suarez ban being only for the Premier leagues.

Living in Madrid does make a difference Albertx11 because you see it from the other perspective. People here discuss Real Madrid and their signings more than anything. Most actually are not convinced Suarez is what they need.

There are a number of reasons Real Madrid will wait till the window is close to shutting to make their move:

1. They will save themselves roughly a million quid on wages on a player that would be ineligible until the end of September/ beginning of October. Why pay the 120k a week from the beginning of July until the en of August for a player they cannot use. Why not make Liverpool pay it.
2. Real Madrid are not stupid. They know Suarez wants to come. They want the player to hand in a transfer request therefore allowing them to pay less fee. They want Suarez to cause problems thus making Liverpool more amenable to selling at a lower price.

Real Madrid may pay the full amount in the end but it is an opinion. Football is a game built on opinion it is what makes it the game it is.

And by the way, I was one of the first last December to say that Liverpool were looking at Iago aspas. Do a search That came from living in Madrid and talking to people here.

I, for one, think there's a lot more to come out with this Suarez transfer. The media are all over it and making Suarez out to want to leave at all circumstance.

Brendan Rodgers came out and said that a lot of the quotes taken from Suarez have either been mis-interpreted through translation, (a little like the Evra incident - which, according to my Argentinian fiance, what he said was not racist at all) or do not show the whole story.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed surely there are ways LFC could prevent this from happening and do you see him being interested in a move to any of the other interested clubs? {Ed030's Note - Here is my take on what I THINK Suarez is trying to do,He is burning bridges with the fans,Players and manager to make it virtually impossible that he can stay at the club so therefore he does not hand in a transfer request and give up his payment should he leave the club. }

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed030, you are spot on IMO. I also agree with the OP that RM will do what they can to get him dirt cheap. I think there is every possibility that they will wait until the final week of the transfer window to conclude a deal and if Liverpool spend £25m on the Armenian fella then RM will know that Liverpool will be desperate to sell. Suarez & RM will do their best to leave Liverpool for as little as possible. I thought it would be for €40m, but it could be less if Suarez is only interested in joining RM and RM are unwilling to compromise at a fair price. I would also expect RM will try and get the payment structure to their benefit too. RM are not flush with cash and they will do what they do best when they are skint, they will get their player for less than he's worth. I don't think it will have any bearing on the outcome of BR targets though so it doesn't really matter to the Liverpool fans what Suarez sells for.

Disney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Ed030 is correct. The longer this episode goes on for the less power the seller has. LIverpool can refuse to sell him, but will Suarez really be motivated. We had this problem with Torres. But before you shout about how we got 50 million for Torres, that was down to Chelsea having an owner who was willing to pay almost everything for him. Real madrid are not in the same position.

The market for a 40 million quid striker has also been reduced in the last few weeks with Brca buying Neymar and Juventus taking Tevez. This means that there are far fewer clubs that can afford to sign him.

The Italian clubs clubs do not have the money and neither do clubs like Atletico Madrid, who owe the Spanish Taxman nearly half a billion euros.

I also think that he is not motivated by money so clubs like PSG, Monaco or manchester City may not be of interest. That probably leaves Real Madrid and Bayern Munich with the money to buy him. (Although, I would like to see Liverpool approach the cash-rich russian Clubs like Anzhi and Zenit to take the smile off of his face).

Bayern Munich look like they are still prioritizing Lewandoski. And with Suarez's agent being the brother of the Bayern Munich manager, it seems strange that Suarez has not mentioned that possibility. Therefore, you have to assume Bayern are not that interested.

So it seems that it is Real madrid or nothing. Therefore, Liverpool are not in the position of power they believe, if Suarez continues to cause problems.

This is whar Real Madrid are hoping for and why there is confidence in Madrid that Real can get him fairly cheaply.

Orrin {Ed002's Note - I have explained previously that Atletico Madrid do indeed have the money and have a deal with third parties already in place. Their concern is whether or not they wish to make a bid for the player.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez will give his best even if he stays at least until Jan or next year. The boy is a little beast. Different from Torres who sulks even when his tackled or he has a bad hair day no grit or fighting mentality. Suarez although a bit of a nutcase bless him' is the guy you would have on the front line with you. Won't let you down.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool are not desperate to sell. RM, either put up or shut up. I'd be happy either way, get circa £40m for him or keep him and let him bang the goals in.

Agree0 Disagree0

The club should tell Suarez co-operate with the club or your going nowhere. If Madrid offer at least 40m for him he will be allowed leave. If not he stays. If Madrid come back at the end of the window, drive the price up. If Suarez is not willing to play, don't pay him. Pepe Reina is doing the right thing. He knows bigger clubs are interested in his signature, but he's not telling the club to accept any offer that comes in for him so he'll get his own way. He's saying he's not going to say no to Barca but for now he is committed to Liverpool. If Madrid think they can get Suarez for anything less than £40m they can think again. Those dirty tactics will get them nowhere this time round. Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2013 14:49:14
People keep saying we'll be ok with the money we don't need him but we do. Who is going to come to Liverpool who is anywhere near as good? The money (be it 50m or not) is not worth as much as keeping him on as we will not be able to spend it on top players. We would buy 3-4 players with that money and between them not get the 25 goals Suarez gets on his todd. I am sick of Liverpool being bullied into selling our players for less than they are worth (Aquilani, Mascherano) and over-paying for mediocrity (Carroll, Henderson, Downing). If we don't make a stand and say no you are not having him it will just keep on happening anytime we have a world class player on the books. Real Madrid seem to be publicly humiliating us by saying they will get him for less than 40m (?) and "agreeing personal terms" with the player without consent as was reported and we are just bending over and taking it like the pretty little bitch we have become. Its a real shame that we are a truly massive club but we act like a small town feeder club that will just cash in on whatever is offered.

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to agree with a few posters here. Firstly, I don't doubt Orrin's info. However, I do agree that we don't have to take it. Suarez will not want to miss more game time than he has to in the run up to the WC, and he isn't capable of giving less than 100% due to his nature. So it is a win win, either RM put up the right price (I know I'd like it to be £50m, but don't know what the club management think) or we will wait until Jan. {Ed002's Note - Don't get sucked into any of the thought process that there are not other interested parties. Real Madrid are keeping their options open and are actually looking at another player that would likely see them drop their interest in Suarez. But there are other clubs interested.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Daveead

I have seen Aspas a few times and I think he is a very good player. I think for 8 million or whatever it was was very good business.

But and there is a but, I do not see him as a BR type player. I can see him being useful away from home where we have less possession and we defend deeper. He is pretty small but very strong, defenders bounce off him. He played for Celta Vigo as a lone striker and in the first half of the season he terrorised the defenders because they did not know what he was about. He is a player that is very quick. He likes the ball over the top to run onto or to play give and gos.

He runs the channels very well and provided a number of assists for his team. He played in front of three good attacking midfielders ( Augusto Fernandez, Krohn-Dehli and Alex Lopez) and linked very well with them. But it was mainly from a counter-attacking perspective.

He is not a Beardsley type player and he is not a penalty box predator. He reminds me the way he moves similar to Torres. Therefore, more effective from deeper positions with only the defender in front of him.

Hope that helps

Orrin

Agree0 Disagree0

Orrin, thanks for the info on Aspas greatly appreciated! I don't agree with your theory on Liverpool being desperate to sell though.

As per ED030 it does appear to be Suarez acting like a person to try force a move out of the club - this is the player desperate. Liverpool have continued to publicly deny any intention to sell, therefore imo if we didn't end up selling him (e.g. if €30m was the best offer) then the club would keep him (he's not going to go down in value below €30m) and we could come out and basically say we always said we were keeping him we put our foot down. Would that not generate some respect for the club saying up yours to player power, sell when it suits us to sell (i.e. £50m).

Agree0 Disagree0

If Real Madrid have had any kind of contact with Suarez (as you claim a deal is in place) without LFC's permission, they stand to be in a boat load of tapping up trouble. Suarez has very little pull as he is signed long term, so LFC are actually in a great position.

Agree0 Disagree0

Orin great post. Suarez’s options are diminishing by the day. Barca no chance as just signed Neymar. A Madrid has little appeal as ist a two horse race in Spain. PSG and Monaco are non starters unless his primary motivation is money (which it is not). Forget Italy they don’t have the transfer money. It is either Real, Bayern or staying at Anfield. Bayern prefer Lewandoski and Real have agreed to sign Isco with and Anceloti rumoured to also want Jovetic. If Jovetic is signed Suarez can kiss good bye to a move to Real. LFC are actually in a strong position to demand that either a club pays the asking fee by such and such date or there is no deal. If there is no deal because we refuse to deal with it after a certain date, it will be tough cookies for Suarez. The main risk then would be that another chomp or misdemeanour would generate a 20 game ban. However seeing as it is a world cup year, Suarez can ill afford to misbehave or be banished to the stiffs. Luis we hold all the cards on this one. Reality Red

Thanks Orrin. Much appreciated. I am really excited to see this guy get going. I have a feeling he could be one of the big players for us next season. Keep the info from Madrid coming.

Suarez has 3 years remaining on his contract so that straight away takes out the word "desperate". Liverpool don't really want to sell or need to. They will of course ask Suarez to put in an official request if he's hell bent on leaving and then inform him that he will only go if the asking price is met. I think Liverpool have learnt from their mistakes of getting bullied in the transfer market either when it came to selling or buying. I remember clearly they tried to take alonso on the cheap but we weren't having it so they ended up paying exactly what we asked for. I don't lfc will bother too much if they have an unhappy player on their books until January but they need to get tough and stick by their guns. I'm sorry orrin but your post is baseless and we hold all the cards.

First of all Suarez is not in hi s last year. Basically Liverpool will only sell if the offer matches their valuation.He is under contract until 2018, and they actually want to keep him. Madrid can't pull an eleventh hour swoop if a deal will be done it will have to be by the middle of July. Madrid have just signed Isco, and want bale and Cavani. Suarez is just their fourth or fifth choice signing.All signs prove that Liverpool won't take a part exchange unless its a first team player. Maybe next year Liverpool will be willing to talk but not this year and I believe Rogers when he says he is not for sale but every one has a price. a team will have to match Liverpools 50 mil evaluation to sell, but even then they will still be reluctant

Agree0 Disagree0

How are we desperate to sell. We are desperate to keep Suarez

Agree0 Disagree0

In my view, Suarez is not Real's number 1 target. I think they want Bale or Cavani ahead of him. I also think they are only after one of the three now as they appear to have tied up Isco (unless they offload Ronaldo in which case they will want 2 of the 3).

Whilst Suarez will no doubt attract other offers, he could end up burning his bridges by holding out for his "dream" move to Real. All in all I would say it is difficult to call at the moment what will happen and I wouldn't rule him out playing for us next season. The key would be how he reacts to that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Leaving it late will only push his price up as LFC will be very happy to keep him.

Looking on from the sidelines it would appear that Suarez is the only player that Real are unwilling to pay top dollar for. The fees for Bale at £85m and Cavani at £55m were not baulked at. There were no wranglings or player pressure and the full fee was paid for Isco. Has our reputation dipped so low that clubs like Real Madrid simply see Liverpool as a source of cheap signings?

Atletico have already signed Baptistao from rayo and I heard that they were after either Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, Soldado or Alvaro Negredo because they were much cheaper options than Suarez and allowed them to also buy Toulalan from Malaga, Diego from Wolfsburg, Ebert from Valladolid and others to strengthen the squad.

And to be honest I am not sure that Atletico need Suarez as they have Diego Costa, who plays in a similar manner to Suarez. And I think Diego Costa is a fantastic player and for the money suarez would not be much of an upgrade. But maybe Liverpool could ask for a Diego Costa as part of the deal but I am guessing that maybe wishful thinking.

Ed002- is that other player a certain Welshman? {Ed002's Note - If Jovetic is Welsh, then yes.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Orrin nobody said anything about not looking it from other perspective. We understand RM will play it in her best interest. Your statement they will wait till the end doesn't take an astronomer to figure it out.

What was stupid about your statement was "Liverpool will be desperate to sell". Desperate to sell why? Because Suarez says so? Ok then if Suarez says so let's sell him to RM for 20M or 10M. He is contracted and we are in no desperate position to sell our most priced asset even if everyone is angry at him. Tevez did the same. so what? Did you see City selling him for 5m?

Suarez in today's market worth easily 50m pounds. His antics has no meaning in the value other than the other team pointing it out to drop his value. But what stands is his worth as a player. If RM is after him it shows he is a superstar. It shows his antics won't stop the best clubs from wanting him. If his antics destroyed him as a player then this is another matter. But as it stands now, Suarez is an excellent player, one of the elites and his downside is just that he is frustrated easily. That doesn't drop his value as a player greatly.

So RM will try this as you said, but they will be in a far worse situation than trying to get him now. Liverpool will begin the season and they won't sell cheaply while they are playing games. They won't have time to replace him and this will make it far tougher for RM to get him. It will take LS to hand in a transfer request and RM to meet a certain value higher than 40m pounds.

Hii Eds,

Incase we don't sign Henrikh, do u see Liverpool make a bid for McEachran? A quality signing! {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has shown no interest in him.}

Surely this is a wind up

I thought he looked great 2 years ago. Has he not gone massively backwards since? Really expected more from him he did look promising.

Hey eds, is that 10 day deadline to sign MR have any baring on whether we sign him or could a deal be done at any point in the summer? Also is there any truth to the reports that Suarez has breached his contract by talking to Madrid? {Ed002's Note - You can forget the "deadline" as it is a bit of a red herring - Liverpool know what they need to do. As for the potential breach of contract, I am told that Liverpool are of the opinion that an actual meeting took place between the player and Real Madrid but there is nothing to confirm this right now. If it did, then potentially Real Madrid would be liable for disciplinary action (probably a fine and slapped wrists) and Liverpool would look to hold Suarez in breach of contract - saving perhaps £2M that they would otherwise need to pay him if he did not request a move. If there was no meeting and simply an agreement between his agent and Real Madrid, then Real Madrid has done no wrong and all Suarez can be held responsible for is discussing this openly which would displease the club. There is another option and I am aware of the excuse being used twice before, where a meeting did take place but it was accidental - effectively the agents had a meeting planned with the club from 10:00 to 10:30 and one from 11:00 to 11:30 with his client - the first overran and the client then shows up early for his meeting thereby "accidentally" running in to the club's representatives.}

Have they been in contact with LFC Ed002? Somebody mentioned earlier that Real would wait till late in the window to try and get Suarez cheaper, there by screwing LFC over.

The real AG {Ed002's Note - Real Madrid were expected to put an offer on the table last week but I understand (as of a couple of days ago) that has yet to happen. I don't see it hanging out until the end as there will be offers from elsewhere and I am sure the club are keen to move him on.}

Ed002,
Perhaps I am being a bit naive but do clubs not have to meet the release clause value before being allowed to discuss (and agree) personal terms with the player?

Or can clubs such as Real effectively put the cart before the horse and talk to the player and then afterwards decide to contact his club with a bid?

I am aware that ethics and protocols go out the window during transfer season but would appreciate any answer. {Ed002's Note - Forget anything to do with "release clauses". In very simple terms, a club cannot speak directly with a player without the permission of his club.}}

I remember we played young boys at anfield last year, I thinking 1 of there strikers looked powerful and quite direct in a suarez way, I think his name was Bobadilla or it could of been the other striker, have we made any enquiries about him? If Liverpool sell Sebastian Coates and Martin Skrtel then Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Tiago Ilori will be the targets.

If Liverpool sell Jonjo Shelvey and Jay Spearing then Victor Wanyama will be a target.

If Liverpool sell Luis Suarez, Stewart Downing and Oussama Assaidi then Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Christian Benteke will be targets.
