Ojo to Newcastle on loan hope he does well.

Believable12 Unbelievable1

29 May 2017 00:07:38
Reports say it is a loan with an option to buy though.

Happy with the former, depending on game time, but less so with the latter. I still think Ojo has the ability to force himself into the first 11 in two, three years, if given the chance. The boy has blistering pace, quality crossing ability and has simply struggled the find form due to a concerning back injury. Hopefully we don't give up on him, ala Ibe, and sell him.

29 May 2017 05:35:33
Mango - i think the decision to sell Ibe has proven to be a good one thus far. I don't think we gave up on him at all.

Agree7 Disagree0

29 May 2017 08:17:02
Ibe showed much more than Ojo has done as well.
Mango- I wouldn't say he has blistering pace, he's certainly not slow but for a winger his pace doesn't stand out.
I hope he can force his way into the team and become a star but I reallly don't see it happening.

29 May 2017 08:54:43
Whether one's opinion is that Ojo has a long term future at the club or not, a loan to another prem side where he has a good chance of playing is a good move for him at this stage in his development. At least we're not stifling his development.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Newncastle are looking for a permanent move but a loan to buy may suit them and Liverpool.}

29 May 2017 13:42:26
With a loan to buy, can the club reject the bid at the end of the loan spell if he shows rapid progression?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It would not be a bid, it would be a fixed amount.}

28 May 2017 18:29:04
Word on the street from a usually reliable source - VVD is a done deal. £48m with add on's close to £55m. It's being suggested by the ed's that this is not possible for various reasons. However I do trust the information and will be shocked/ gutted if not correct. It's a lot of money for him but that's the market. If stones is worth £50m.

I'm sorry but I'll believe it when I see it. Though you could probably get 2 good CB for that price.

28 May 2017 19:34:29
Lol. So according to several people that's VVD and Kieta deals done and 100m spent. Lmao. If only it was true.

Agree3 Disagree9

{Ed002's Note - And many others are completed as well.}

28 May 2017 19:36:01
Taking that for what it is, and then looking at the fact it's going to be similar money involved for Keita, Liverpool really are prepared to spend big in this window. Sessegnon will probably be another realistic target. I agree it's stupid money but each transfer seems to drive the price up of the next.

Ed it must be quite challenging for you keeping up with all these done deals. Im really hoping we can get the Kieta one over the line soon though.

Just passing the info on. We'll find out in just a few weeks I suppose. It's from a credible source, ed002. Really worthwhile considering the possibility that Klopp has got one of his main targets.

With the extra TV money 50mil is yesterdays 25mil. This is 100% possible and even 100% probable. You are naive if you believe anything else.

Agree5 Disagree4

28 May 2017 21:55:25
No chance.

Neither good enough. Ones a flash pony and the othet is an alrifht mid who isn't chelsea or arsebal firsr chouce as they don't think he's worth the asking price.

Whats he done to be worth 45 million. I mean that's top level mid. Kante was 30. Will keita transform us like that . Doubt it. Is he the passer we need. Nopes. He is a highly technical player no. We have more possession than we know what to do with. We need players who can us it.

Agree0 Disagree14

28 May 2017 22:54:37
Kante was a steal and due to a champions league club release clause.

Keita is a very good player. Not sure why you're hating on him just because he's not as good as Kante. Not many players are, Kante is one of the best. It's like bashing Coutinho because he's not as good as Neymar.

Agree10 Disagree1

28 May 2017 23:17:32
Its not though really.

Coutinhos level is at times probably higher than neymars

Your talking about two excellent players. wasnt neymar crying for Barcelona to sign cou.

Is keita any better than gueye of everton who went for 7.2 mil last year.

Is keita really worth 45 million. Not a chance.

Oh and this isn't a case of well a few years ago he would of been about 20 mil. he's a 20 million player now whose had a good season but still nothing outstanding. again not for 45 mil.

Arsenal signed holding who just won the fa cup with them for 4 mil. Vvd is nowhere near 50 mil.

Thats just spending for spending sake.

Auba on the other hand has scored 60 goals over 2 years. And would be worth every penny and 50/ 60 mil. that's what you should be getting for that price. Not two good players. It should be star men.

Mane was 36 mil and we were all baulking at that. Your just glad to be spending the big bucks to be like the others.

Agree4 Disagree11

28 May 2017 23:21:43
Well said Puzzles Red!

If we get both then they are good signings. Let's face it if we are realistic about challenging for trophies then we have to adapt to the market and what other teams are doing. And that is having to spend big. Last season we made money on transfer market I believe, and we more depth imagine what we could be like with the way that Klopp can get us playing. Both Manchester clubs are going to spend silly amounts and so will Chelsea. Money isn't a big issue for us as Klopp said so let's get behind who ever we sign, however much they cost :)

Agree2 Disagree0

29 May 2017 00:03:23
Yeah but there's spending

50 mil on stones
50 mil on sterling
100 mil on pogba

To

36 on mane
30 mil on kante
30 mil on luiz
5 mil ali. just to throw him in
Kane the academy
Rose 1 mil

50 mil isn't the going rate. Its the rip of rate because the prem in know to have money

What happens now is we have 2 20 mil players who are expected to deliever what true 50 million players do.

Klopp will have spent a 100 mil and if he doesn't deliever then he will have failed like rodgers and probably be gone.

To the owners that's the premier league but its not.

We can spend that money

On aubamayang 65 mil. 15 mil pereria. 10 mil ses. 25 mil nzonzi or 18 mil obiang.

Thats how to spend 100 mil. This is what city do and they finished 1 poin t above us throwing cash on crap.

They finished the season with bravo and sane in the starting line up and spent 150 mil.

Agree1 Disagree11

29 May 2017 00:03:27
I think for the big English clubs now 35-50 million is the norm now for clubs to pay for a player . The prem os where the money is. City have signed one player for 43 and are about to sign a keeper for 45.

29 May 2017 01:02:16
Super seriously what are you on about?

Agree7 Disagree0

29 May 2017 03:26:19
Ed01, Sorry if i missed your assessment already but wondered how you feel about these 2 players that according to some are on their way.
I haven't seen much of them to be honest but if really £50 approx for each, it seems like crazy money to me and would rather scout harder and further before spending that much on 2 players.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am not sure what way you mean by assessment? I don't believe either player will be at our club next season if that is what you mean.

If you mean evaluation of the players, I have not seen enough of Keita and have said it many many times in the past about van Dijk, technically and physically just about perfect but mentally awful. He has no positional sense, ball watches, goes off wandering and makes no effort to get back. He was at fault on almost every goal Southampton conceded when he was on the pitch. If you watch back when he plays, nine times out of ten he is nowhere to be seen when it is in the area he is meant to be covering. There is a mental laziness that transmits to his play, he is stroller. The Kenwyne Jones of defending.}

29 May 2017 03:42:54
First of all, the price of players are really ridiculous no thanks to China and teams like City spending 50mil on Stones etc and MU spending 89mil on Pogba. However, having said that, although VVD or Keita are not worth 50mil, sometimes we need to pay over the odds if we want quality players. Yes, you can go for cheaper options. That's what we did when we sold Torres and Suarez. We brought in a few players but how many of them became stars? You can also argue that Barcelona spent >60mil to land Suarez but he's been phenomenal for them. We spent only 8.5mil for Coutinho but how many years did we need to develop him to make him who he is today? We live in a time where everyone is demanding success and quick success. Gone are the days where managers and teams are given 5-10 years to make a team successful. If you go to Chelsea and you don't win anything or achieve anything in the first year, you're going to be sacked. I don't think MU will give Mourinho time to develop youngsters and slowly take their time to improve. They will give him money to spend on finished products to produce almost instant results. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. but if MU didn't spend on Zlatan, they wouldn't have achieved what they did this year. Arsenal wouldn't be in the top 4 in the past few years if it wasn't for the signing of Ozil and Sanchez. Same thing for us, people were complaining that Mane is not worth 36mil but he ended up being a steal. Yes, 36mil is a lot. but if we don't spend, the gap between us and the other top teams will become wider. We can be stingy and stubborn and just spend 15-20+mil on a player. Will it work? Maybe. if you're lucky you'll find a gem but look at Markovic and Lovren. Are they really worth 20mil? Maybe that's the quality you get for spending 20mil these days.

Agree8 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - by this definition Suarez was a cheaper option when we bought him.}

29 May 2017 06:24:04
Super

Where as I agree neither player is worth that sort of money you also have to take into account wages.

We would probably only pay either player £100,000 a week where as aubemayang would want double that if not more. So that's another 20-25mil extra in wages over Keira and van dijk.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 May 2017 10:27:56
I mean stones was worth about 18/ 22 mil not 50.

Van dijk is about a 25 mil player not a 50 mil player. So were over spending.

Wheras auba is a 50/ 60 million pound player and we will be getting quality.

Mane performed like a 50 mil play and we payed 36.

Vab dijk will play like a 25 mil player and we will have payed 50. So he will never be good enoughm bexause you qill expect him to turn us into title challengers.

United thought they where winning the league for pogba. He will mever be good enough because of what he costs. Even if he has good seasons. He plays like a 40 million pound player but cost 100.

Lastly so the agent of the player will go i have a 50 millio pound pkayer on my habds just give us 100k a week. Manes on 150. They will near that aswel. If not abit more. Or theh will say where off to city.

Hey eds about Origi do you see an offer coming in for him or does the club wants to move him on, as a belgian I want to see him succeed at LFC but towards the end of the season he was just a passenger, DS was way better tbf,

Believable6 Unbelievable5

29 May 2017 08:23:28
It depends on how you define better. Sturridge provided one or two bright, exciting moments and goals but gives the ball away cheaply a lot. Origi has improved his hold up play and helps us keep possession a lot better now. He now needs to work on his movement to get into goal scoring situations more often and then to finish them.

I'd rather keep Origi personally as he is improving where as sturridge's performances are on the downhill now that he's losing his pace.

Eds we are constantly linked to vvd although what i read on here, that seems very unlikley. Have we ever shown interest in Ake of chelsea? i've been very impressed with him when i've seen him and with gomez could make a good young partnership. just my thoughts. Thanks.

Hi Eds?

Does the interest in Naby Keita indicate that more than 1 CM may leave this summer (given a healthy squad depth in that area of the pitch)?

Good to see a bit of humor with the Aubameyang hairstyle.

Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - The club can ppotentially add two players with none leaving - after that it is necessary that people depart.}

28 May 2017 16:18:38

{Ed002's Note - Not really.}

28 May 2017 00:05:16
Eds are we interested in kolasinac at all? Considering we have Moreno who's on his way out and Milner, surely a good young natural Lb who was in the bundesliga team of the year who's available on a free makes sense?

Believable2 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - He is joining Arsenal.}
