Sturridge is pretty much done as been reported.

Ince will also likely be signing

Butland would be a good buy at £6m with us loaning him back till end of season and then loan him out next year to a Epl side for the season so when he comes back to us he will have Epl experience and could then challenge Reina for the No.1 jersey with Jones moving on.

As people keep mentioning a loan signing is quite possible i just hope its not Jeffren he is useless

I know im probably going to get slatted for this but i think we should bring in Quaresma on a free transfer as his contract has been terminated and also bring back Andy Carroll, yes he hasn't done much at west Ham but we need strikers and he gives us a plan B and different attacking options and lets all be honest Carroll & Suarez actually played well towards end of last season(Chelsea & Everton game he was brilliant).

Eds whats your opinion ..

BigD {Ed002's Note - Quaresma has struggled somewhat since leaving Porto where much was expected of him when he was younger. Since leaving Porto he has been much lower profile and has had a number of clubs but not really settled. As he has had his contract with Besiktas cancelled he is a free agent and will probably be heading back to the Iberian peninsula - I will take a shot at saying with Porto.}

OK what do you think about Andy Carroll Ed002?

BigD {Ed002's Note - I would doubt he will play for Liverpool again.}

Carroll won't be available for another 2 months. How much football do you watch?

I think you talk a lot of sense. How many games / crosses / free kicks (both ends) would have benefited with Andy Carroll's presence this season. He played well in cup matches last season and was the best player in a white shirt during the euros. I'd have him back tomorrow.

Quaresma I don't know enough about to discuss.

Funny that u class jeffren as useless but quite happily would sign quaresma when clearly 1 is as bad as the other but quaresma wud take alot more money from us

Anyone else get annoyed at the same old replied from Ed002? Especially this one including the 'Iberian peninsula'

- Hope you all had a great christrmas eds and fellow reds :)

Just a quick one, it was just that I was flicking thorugh the football today and i saw some dominant striker who can bag a goal or 2 in the BPL and feeling uncomfertable at their current club - just wondering what sort of intersest, if any, we show in these?

- Theo Walcott
- Edin Dzeko
- Demba Ba

I know you will get a lot of this due to thieir performances today but I think that all three have quality in some departments (Goalscoring)

p.s - Good luck you Reds! lets have a win vs QPR! {Ed002's Note - (1) From my perspective I still think that a new deal could be agreed at Arsenal and a new contract signed by Walcott. However, in January, if no deal has been agreed he will be able to talk with the likes of Juventus who have apparently shown tentative interest. There remains the thought that Liverpool or Chelsea would be interested in taking him, although they cannot speak to him before the end of the season without the club agreeing. Arsenal can easily stonewall a move in January so I don't know if Walcott will even be available for a move then - nor what other options he would have if he were. Deciding to leave Arsenal may not enhance his career, particularly if he wants to stay in England. (2) Manchester City rejected a 19M euro bid from Juventus for Dzeko in the summer - his wages are well beyond the means of most clubs - perhaps £160k a week or so. (3) I understand that Newcastle are still likely to get offers for Demba Ba from QPR and Galatasaray and that there may be interest from Anzhi Makhachkala and lingering interest from Lokomotiv Moscow. It is possible he will move but he would look for a Champions League side. He and his agent are trying to court Arsenal although they seemingly have other preferred targets at this time. His agent has also mentioned Germany as a possible destination. And he could be very expensive to buy for a non-CL side, has additional agent fees hanging over his transfer anywhere, high wage expectations and high insurance costs.}

Walcott would do after last might

29 Dec 2012 22:54:54
This not a rumour jus a quick question for the EDs, if as reported that diame has a 3.5 clause in his contract( speculation as papers are NEVER WRONG) do u a think he would b open to a move to lfc? & the package as a whole I.e agent fees & contract plus signing on fee would this turn it into an expensive deal? If not i personally think it a no brainer & go get him, wot u think?? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what he thinks but Liverpool has shown no interest in the player.}

He is not a Liverpool player, he rejected us in the summer before moving to west ham.

He never rejected us and has committed how the sacking of Dalgleish robbed him of a dream move to LFC

ronnie whelan has been on irish tv enthusiastically suggesting walcott would be great for liverpool. he seemed to be almost convinced he is on his way. a frontline of sturridge suarez walcott would be strong. eds is walcott a possibility at all in youre opinion. ronnie seems to think so.
ron wheel

on twitter who seem quiet reliable has said we went for Walcott and he would not come so we ended up going for Sturridge instead
Murton Red

I think so. why not if he isnt happy at arsenal then i dont see why not. ok he wont get champions league football but he isnt stuped he knows if he comes and a few others come through the door then a year or two down the line we will get there. we can offer him a decent wage his a lfc fan. and its obvious he wants out off arsenal. infact i wouldnt be surprised if a deal has been made in principle. maybe not for jan but for july. he wont sign and he wasnt on there calender. something dont seem right does it. only my opinion tho i could be way off the mark

Dream on Walcott will not join Liverpool simples!

He said he hopes Liverpool signs him if he is on this form. He said he would hope we would sign him tomorrow before he signs a new contract at Arsenal. He didn't elude that he was on the way to Liverpool. Just that as a fan, would love to have him at the club.

Walcott is on the verge of signing a new arsenal contract! There are a few minor issues that need to be ironed out! Once they have been resolved walcott will put pen to paper! At least that is what's being mentioned here in london!

29 Dec 2012 23:55:25
i watched it, he didnt indicate anything of the sort. he just spoke of his admiration for walcotts game, a player who has come of age. liverpool have no chance, be amazed if he dosent sign a new contract

How did we miss out on Marvaeux especially for free? The guy is good. He plays like Ben Arfa, and we all know how good Ben Arfa is. Anyways, I just hope we can get a good creative player in this mould after sorting our striking problem. Pls, don't say we have Suso already 'cos he's still too young. Wishing the club better days...
Niger Red!
Djoe. {Ed002's Note - Sylvain Marveaux rejected a revised contract offer from Liverpool - who were, quite rightly, concerned about injuries.}

Didnt he fail a medical? And that was 18 months ago, he's done F*** all until now, and mad yokes come on here asking why we didn't get him lol I swear ....

29 Dec 2012 22:39:24
Is this post just because he scored today?

Rob

Oh ! He finally got a game.

Every time somebody watches a player have 1 decent game, you get some person on here saying we should/ should have or will try and buy them

He never failed a amedical, liverpool came out and said he didn't. we just ended up not being interested, he has had too many injury problems. newcastle signed him almost 18 months ago on a free .....this was his 2nd major start.....glad me missed out {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were interested - it was Sylvain Marveaux who rejected the revised offer from Liverpool.}

I'm positive that he failed the medical and signed for Newcastle.

ED 002 love ths site but please don't correct me when I'm right. He was on a website new giving an interview, and openly admitted liverpool's interest in him wained. And asked liverpool to be honest and tell the journalists he didn't fail a medical, which Liverpool then came out and stated the day after. {Ed002's Note - I would think I was much, much closer to the situation than you and I can absolutely assure you that it was Sylvain Marveaux who turned down the revised lesser offer from Liverpool. I really don't care for what you have read on some website.}

I believe he wanted 50k per week; as I remember (Ed is correct); Liverpool revised the offer due to his injuries (btw how many games did he play last season for newcastle? ).

Hoola

We have apparently contacted Lazio about DIakite don't know how much truth is in it.
Source Sky Italia
Skurks {Ed002's Note - Diakite will be free in the summer and has been refusing to agree a new deal. He could sign a pre-contract in January but a bid is expected from Genoa. Bordeaux would be interested in taking him in the summer for free.}

29 Dec 2012 20:45:17
Ed's wondering if you could clear something up for me a friend of mine insists we paid 10million for sahin.
Could you please shed some light on sahin's liverpool loan transfer details if you no of them.

Cheers deanalfie. {Ed002's Note - The loan fee equated to £4.4M and change at the time Liverpool paid it.}

Ed do you think 1. we will sign him permanently. 2. He would want to stay and 3. How much as we already payed £4m for the loan so surely it would not be too much more perhaps around £8m - £10m.

BigD {Ed002's Note - (1) There are no provisions in the contract for a purchase. (2) I can only guess but based on what he said to Morais, I would doubt it. (3) The loan fee would make no difference to any fee wanted for the player.}

Not bad for about 2 hours of match time?

OK thanks ed, I thin he could be an important player for us, but he likes to play a deep midfield role and while Lucas is here he won't be able to, so he will probably end up back at Dortmund.

BigD

I would love to see Lucas pushed back in to the CAM role he played at Gremio, the reason we signed him.

What a a waste of cash

29 Dec 2012 21:25:10
when commoli signed coates from nacional . thought an agreement was in place for other players from nacional to have trials at liverpool.

alan waddle {Ed002's Note - I would not read too much in to such agreements.}

29 Dec 2012 21:20:27
hi ed's , do you think liverpool are looking at a left back, with confidence in the younger lb's at an all time low, . and the fact Enrique is scared by his own shadow in defense, i am probably one of those in the minority that think we need to improve drastically in defense, Left back being....STILL...after years, one of our major downfalls, i have lost count how many times this season Enrique has put us in trouble. having said that i dont think its all down to him, but he does have a tendancy to panic when pressed. {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of it being a priority at this time.}

Johnson left back Kelly when fit right back sorted

Enrique has probably been our best most passinate player. First on the team sheet for me

Thanks for the quick response (ed 002), do you personally think it SHOULD be a priority though, as if enrique does not play, its downing, hendo or johnson as a left back. {Ed002's Note - A lot was expected of Jack Robinson - perhaps he deserves a chance at some point?}

Totally agree with Ed002 Robinson should be given a chance he has done nothing at all wrong when played before and he is young and hungry.

BigD

I still remember one of the game against Newcastle. Robinson (or is it Flanagan?) was totally bullied by Gutierezz. So, I think we do need a little experience there.

Liverpool for FAR too long have had a history of playing wing back too early. i would like experience, before youth.There far too much impression left from the arsenal game where kk called wenger an person or whatever.a aleft back is prbably the hardest position to fill in the world we are lucky we got enrique!!

Should have never let Riise go !!

29 Dec 2012 20:25:36
Well eds

I posted the other day put didn't make the page.. Was just wondering does anyone have any info on how much has changed hands between us and Newcastle for Carroll as I can't see 35 mil been handed over for a young lad at the time was there appearance fees involved as If it was 20 are 25 and we sell him for around 15 it's not as bad as people think. Hope yous can help cheers

Paul ynwa {Ed002's Note - I answered this at the time, but a little over £36M was paid for Carroll. It is done - there are no savings to be made.}

Bring Carroll back.

Please Ed don't answer anymore every time I see that figure it makes me sick and who we could have bought with that money.

Assuming that 36 million doesnt include his wages suggested around 80k a week that figure would double over his contract ...... {Ed002's Note - That was the transfer fee.}

If Kenny had anything about him he would have bought a Falcao or an Aguero with that kind of money.

£36m is 18 Michu's - Crazy!

We actually made a profit on player transactions in that year if you believe the site Ed02 takes her figures from. {Ed002's Note - The figure I have provided is from the UEFA database that records the transfer fees - not from a website.}

Rafael Benitez has refused to rule out a second coming at Liverpool ahead of his first match on Merseyside as Chelsea boss.

We need Di Matteo

Bring rafa back

I would have him back top man and manager. Unlucky for him he had H&G in charge. For a net spend of 16m a season he did wonders.

Dont want him. he played the most ugly football he spoke to much to the media. and made some daft choices. trying to sell alonso to fund the barry signing was enough for me. he done a good job but he lost the dressing room and fans at the time and now we want him back. no chance for me. people claim his been the best manager from the last 20 years well i dont agree mr houllier done more as a manager he won more and was sensible when talking to the media. he made some terrible signings but what manager hasnt ?

I'd love Rafa back at Liverpool

Rafa just keeping options open. Owners won't bring him back. Infact, he may keep his job at Chelsea. If he wins against Everton tomorrow, the press will champion him. Just watch.

Guardiola hasnt ruled himself out of the liverpool job either, come to think of it i cant think of any managers who in the last few months have come out publicly and said they wouldnt take the liverpool job. The reason being the job is already taken. Support rodgers he is our manager dont worry about rafa

What ugly football? Like the 1-4 in old trafford? Or like we crashed Real Madrid? Ah yeah that ugly football

Happy new yr fruit cakes xxxxxxxx

I think Rafa will perform well at Chelski because Chelski have the players that Rafa wants and he do not need to be a banker, a bank is right behind of him.

If he lost the dressing room it should have been the players that got sacked
for having no respect for the fans cause thats who there playing for.

Rafa only wants to go back to Liverpool in my opinion and why wouldn't he, his kids are scouse and his wife loves Liverpool. He himself loves Liverpool as a club and I think if you gave him a choice of any club to go to in the world, LFC would be for him number 1.

Am happy with Rodgers myself. Rafa I wouldn't mind if Brendan ever got sacked. Brendan is the right man for the job though. We need time and work to be able to build again. Wouldn't surprise me if we started to click into gear in 2013. Possible 5th finish for me. Have faith my brothers, but the time we are tiki-takking teams off the park in 2013, you won't want Rafa's compact, infelxible style of play any more..

not a rumor, more a questin for the eds and fellow readers..i no ye say his insurance and injury worrys are stoppin us goin for demba ba, but why dont we take a gamble on him with suarez and sterling either side of him we wont be lacking goals.for me, what i seen was 5mil, surely its worth a gamble!is their any intrest at all that ye no of?and is the 5mil i heard lies?
cheers
devers {Ed002's Note - I understand that Newcastle are still likely to get offers for Demba Ba from QPR and Galatasaray and that there may be interest from Anzhi Makhachkala and lingering interest from Lokomotiv Moscow. It is possible he will move but he would look for a Champions League side. He and his agent are trying to court Arsenal although they seemingly have other preferred targets at this time. His agent has also mentioned Germany as a possible destination. And he could be very expensive to buy for a non-CL side, has additional agent fees hanging over his transfer anywhere, high wage expectations and high insurance costs. It would be a tough call, expensive and, in my view, high-risk.}

Cheers..taut it was a cheap price for him now i no why, and one da boys just said he gets 30% share of his transfer fee.neway taut it would be worth the gamble if we got him for 5mil, not including the other fees. {Ed002's Note - I tink you muzunderstood sumat.}

What about Sturridge? Downing?

We need 5 up top for rotation, im happy with sturridge, but hes out wide not central, and hes not an out an out striker, in my opinion thats what were cryin out for.but what am i, a fan, not a manager! and ill support no matter what like the last 25 years.after all were building for the future and hope the fans give the manager and players time for that.

Ohhh, dave, what's occuring???

29 Dec 2012 20:13:48
Here we go

Walcott to Liverpool!!!

After a few good games he's become a world beater!!

What has he done in the other 230 games?

Dave-LFC

Played mostly on the wings, hence the lad wants a central role :)

We are now favourites to sign Charlie Austin

Sorry; but it is absurd to be rubishing Walcott in comparrison to some of our players, eg, Downing etc when you consider how appalingly bad they are and how little they deliver for wages that vast;y exceed what anyone at Arsenal is getting. He is a fine player and nobody elected him as the messiah, its just an indicator of how desperate we are for quality attackers. We arent going to get him in any case so making a fuss about his potential signing is a waste of time. When we have concluded our meagre January business and the rest of the premiership is sniggering at us, the likes of walcott will seem positiely exotic.

Played out of position and come on all to often as a sub when arsenal were playing poorly 5 years ago or so

Grow as a player from a teenager to a senior? I think he continues to grow and is a lot more effective than his early years.

Andy K

A few games?

Look at the guy's productivity after summer 2010. It triples. And this season is getting even better.

TSP

He played in a different position?

he would be a great signing but doubt it will happen

gareth

29 Dec 2012 20:03:09
Some of you Liverpool fans make me laugh, why would wallcot wana come to us? I know he's a Liverpool fan but he will choose at least a champ league team, and unfortunately we can't provide that this year. I'm not being funny I am a Liverpool fan and I'm glad we have sturridge arriving.Ince will help a lot and I wouldn't be upset if reina went he has cost us quite a few games lately and doesn't seem interested.

29 Dec 2012 20:15:30
yup, true true true..

Liverpool will push for top four when Rodgers goes

Can u yous not see the problem it's sticking our like a swore thumb we have to many players who have no bottle are neck and don't understand what it is like to be a Liverpool player. Are worst players this year have been are big earners reina cole downing and most of all Gerard we need bite that we don't have and a bit of experience . It has noting to do with BR he has us playing great football but if the lads on the field don't pull up there socks we will always be a mid table team.. Breaks my heart.
Paul ynwa

We're not a mid table team

Why are we pal because the last few seasons we have finished around there if we call Everton and Newcastle mid table we are to. Wake up and smell the roses I kills me to say it but that's were we are.. We need to stop living off history and grow a set and make some..

Paul ynwa

Where are we in the league ?.... Yes I think It's mid table. Nearly19

Reina going is one thing. Who his replacement is will decide whether it's a good or bad move.

Butland replacing him would not exactly be the best decision a manager of our club has ever made.

29 Dec 2012 23:03:14
ToPaul

Mostly right, Imagine some of the talent seeing Downing, Cole and Henderson coining in every week - less not forget we are probably paying some of Carolll's wages as well.
Stevie's game has changed in recent times -simply because he's not able to be a one-man-team any more - I actually was more worried in 05 where we were a Gerrard injury from obsurity, at least now we have pieces of a jigsaw coming together, we have to be realistic and say that top echilon of players at high values and wages are out of our reach, however a couple more Suarez's, (high potential players) and we will be on our way.

BR never shy'd away from the fact it's a building process and 3 years is realistic, so keep the faith everyone and there are some good times, as well as bad ahead, but we'll get there.

Pablo

Yea I agree Pablo but since 05 we have took 5 steps forward but man city spurs arsenal and chelsea have all took 10 steps forward as Rodgers said last week we keep taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back somthing needs to happen and am hoping sturridge can help as I think that's all we will get ..

Paul ynwa

Who ever said gerrard not performing is a joke, his still quality and wheres his badge on his heart. u cant c it as much cus suarez is running the show but if u actully watch the games u can tell gerrard is class. i feel we r improving. we have the best centre back partnership in the league, and we are one of the best footballing sides in the league, all we r missing is a 6 yard box striker you can just put the ball in the net. i think thats the only thing we r missing. lcfc will b up there in the next few years!! keep the faith

29 Dec 2012 19:38:08
eds with lescott being touted around for 8 mill do u think liverpool have any interest? {Ed002's Note - I would not think it a likely move.}

It would give agger and skerts a kick up the arse and comp for places not a bad thing.

Rather go for a shawcross

Defiently give Skrtel a kick up the arse

I would rather have Torben Piechnik than either Lescott or Shawcross, they are both pretty poor and not better than what we have, plus should we not have already learnt about over priced and over rated English tat by now?

29 Dec 2012 19:37:20
Hello Eds. In post below you mentioned a possible Director of Football coming in to help the manager & Club.
Are there any rumours as to who?
Addictive site..well done and all the best for the New Year. {Ed002's Note - I would not be so sure it would be a Director of Football per se and we do know of a reluctance of Rodgers to work within such a structure. As for who it could be, I would rather not speculate.}

I posted as a rumour but dont think its been published, but my information is that Rick Parry has been advising FSG amongst others and that Parry is returning to the club in some capacity.

Possibky to replace Ian Ayre

That would be end of Rodgers he won't work with DOF

Best way to get rid of Rodgers quickly

By god we need a decent one. Seems like any fan knows a good player from a crap one but Comoli and Ayre consistently pay for utter rubbish. It doesn't take mega money to build a good side. Just takes ambition, wise spending and a bit of player knowledge.

I don't fault Comolli's appointment. His CV is good (bought Modric and Bale at Spurs), maybe we (FSG as well) were a bit impatient for results and that led to him leaving. Btw, I blame the poor results on KK, not Comolli.

Anyway, if FSG decides a DOF is needed, maybe Brendan should try to work with him (DOF). A good DOF will help out the manager.

29 Dec 2012 19:35:27
hi eds with wallcot clapping to all parts of the emirates do you think he could be on his way out ? {Ed002's Note - You mean will it be Juve or Chelsea?}

No he has just scored another hat trick

Walcott won't be going to Chelsea. Don't make me laugh.

Why Juventus or Chelsea?

Walcott is a life long liverpool fan... {Ed002's Note - So? Have you not considered he might sign a new deal at Arsenal?}

HHA. Walcott will be signing for Chelsea??? HAHAHHA

29 Dec 2012 19:07:55
Hey Eds,
Any info on Diame from West Ham? Heard he could go for 3.5M. Like someone said earlier, he could be the no nonsense midfielder we desperately need! Thanks, great site!

J Red {Ed002's Note - Whilst there is confirmed interest in Diame from Newcastle, QPR and Espanyol, I am aware that West Ham United are looking to have Diame sign an improved contract.}

Got enough central midfielders

29 Dec 2012 22:19:45
Not enough who ate good enough though...

29 Dec 2012 18:50:30
Ed's are there any legs to the runours that we have been having Dennis Praet watched? Looks a player and would suit BR's style, but unsure of the level of interest.

American Red {Ed002's Note - Liverpool had someone watching Praet in the Champions League game between Anderlecht and Zenit Saint Petersburg and a number of other clubs have had scouts take a look at the player. Ajax have declared an interest in the player with Anderlecht. I think a move in January is unlikely.}

Are we not tired of saying this or that player will or won't fill BR's style? What does his so-called style bring to the team? Buying Borini, Allen, Sturrige and co will never improve Liverpool. Ba will cost less than 8Million and still BR is proving stubborn to do business with New Castle. What will Ince offer to Liverpool FC? Why can't he go for quality and proven players like Villa, Tello, Turan, Sanchez who can push us to top 4? BR does not have any style and his transfer activities are based on small team mentality not Liverpool FC.

29 Dec 2012 19:25:22
brendan rodgers has no style! sack him asap, liverpool are in deep trouble with these american owners, i could see us been relegated in a couple of years. take suarez and gerrard out of the team and what have ya got, not much. need a better manager and quick

BR destroying our club

Agree Rodgers must be sacked. Dalglish!!

If not Dalglish. Kevin Keegan in

So many insane comments, weve been playing better football for most of the season, but with the dross players that previous managers have left us with.....dalgleish, as much asi love the man for what hes done for us in the past, he wasted a chunk of money and lumbered us with AC. that money saved to last summer would have landed us a top line 2nd striker. as it is, BR working with many restrictions, and all things considered is showing that there is a future waiting to be grasped. It dismays me to see so many impatient naysayers on a liverpool site. the future is bright, the future is red!

Speaking of which, we do not have a good out-and-out striker for the past 2 years. Suarez is the false no. 9 but have to play the no. 9 role because we do not have an out-and-out striker.

29 Dec 2012 18:42:54
i Heard a story that Kaka's dad is a Liverpool fan and kaka always used to watch Liverpool on telly with him when he was younger. Secret fan? possible loan signing?

Dont be silly, its Kakas mother that loves Lfc, his father supports Accrington Stanley.

Oh poor Liverpool Fc, I really feel sorry for this big and fantastic club it used to be. A team which used to attracting every Tom, Dick and Harry to feel proud to wear the badge. It is sad that our owners care about their pocket instead of buying the players the team needs to challenge. FSG please buy players because the team are short of quality players or sell.

Kaka is sh!t now

This rumor is a load of Kaka!

I support liverpool and so does my dad, maybe we also are possible loan signings

He could be a loan signing because he doesnt even start for madrid he is on bench every game. {Ed002's Note - No.}

I used to watch Grimsby Town with my dad too... I sign January 2nd. All the best.

KNEE JERK

29 Dec 2012 17:42:07
Hi Eds,
If we have a poor result against QPR, do you think FSG will start to ask questions about our management & tactics for the second half of the season.
Also, a mate of mine saw Andy Carrol in a London Restaurant. Carrol hinted of general lack of confidence in the LFC dressing room of tactics and positions players being asked to play?
What do you think Eds?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - I am sure that FSG are acutely aware of what is going on and will be looking to assist however they can to help out. I postulated that someone might come in to help Rodgers out. As for Carroll, I would rather doubt he would say such things to a stranger in a restaurant given that he only played a couple of games under Rodgers and left the club four months ago.}

29 Dec 2012 18:22:10
Get off Rodgers back. He's tactically excellent. There have been games this season when it hasn't been going well and he's had the intelligence to spot it and change it. The problem is that we haven't got good enough players in some positions. Against Stoke we were lightweight. Allen should probably have played but he's carrying a groin strain. Luis is suffering from a bad ankle. It was just an off day. Lets judge him when he's got his own team out there.

But his mates are still at the club and he is still a Liverpool player {Ed002's Note - Or perhaps he left some sort of listening device in the changing room?}

If we don't get a win tomorrow against a bottom of the table side then Rodgers should get his jotters.

Worst Liverpool side I have seen in over 30 years of being a supporter.

Sorry ed what do you mean by someone coming in to help rodgers out? like a director of football or something? {Ed052's Note - yes, am DoF type figure}

Worst side you've seen in 30 years?

Were you in a coma when Souness was in charge?

I've only been a fan of the game and of LFC for 12 years. I can say with confidence that Rodgers has nothing to do with our current position in the table. Some of our players and supporters are more to blame than he is. We used to have the best supporters in the world. Now we have a bunch of fickle finger pointers.

Worst Liverpool side in 30 years

To answer your question, yes I totally agree Souness was disasterous for Liverpoll as a manager, bringing very little success. His man management was shocking at times, however that said he did win an FA cup in 1992. I cannot see any success under Brendan Rodgers.

In my opinion, and bear in mind it is only my opinion, Brendan Rodgers seems more about wanting to be liked in the dressing room as aposed to getting the respect of his team. Great managers are not interested in being liked, it is either their way of your out the door, more about pride and respect rather than being everybody's mate. To give you an example Bill Shankly, Jock Stein and Alex Ferguson, would never have settled for performances and results we have been churning out this season.

For that reason a loss tomorrow and Rodgers should be shown the door with only his BFH (bus fare home)

Saw Carroll?

I believe that Rodgers will be sacked if we lose tomorrow

Last post what??

Rodgers out! Di Matteo or Dalglish in

In response to the message about getting rid of Rodgers. Yu can look at managers who have lost their rag and made themselves look like fools. Whether it be Benitez who was known for being emotionless or Phil brown lecturing his team on the pitch.

Every manager has their own style. Brendan has his and he is currently trying to mould a squad he inherited to play the new style of football he wants. Lets give him a chance, he has always said that he needs more than a season to adapt his squad. Whether you consider it an excuse or not, look at Chelsea who have recycled managers, if some had longer they may have had a chance to build a championship winning squad.

Youve obviously never met Andy. Hes a nice lad when hes not tired and emotional and he says nothing about football. Hell just agree with whatever to keep whoever happy. They all do.

As for our style. We're passing it better, having more possession and to be honest. Have zero luck at all.

I've just been told by a reliable source that we are in advanced stages in a bid to bring Emmanuel emenike from Moscow to anfield. You heard it here first. Have you also heard this yet eds {Ed002's Note - No.}

Bit of FIFA fever here, why don't we go the full way and get filipe Santana and Marchetti

Buying them now, cheers.

Fifa fever

Did Santa bring you FIFA 13

Sturridge (all but done) and Ince (very close) coming in. Butland enquired about. I'd love to see Reina to arsenal and Walcott the other way but these deals are rare and complicated. Not because I don't rate Reina, I just think we'd benefit more from more quality at the top end. Teams barely create chances against us anyway because we have so much of the ball, we simply dont convert enough of ours. As Rodgers quotes, we need more experience at the top end, this could suggest Walcott or someone older and more established.....Bent perhaps? Can you shed any light on the type of experienced player he refers to Ed, as this is clearly can't relate to Sturridge or Ince.
Thanks {Ed002's Note - I don't know who he was referring to explicitly but an enquiry was made regarding the ability of Guillaume Hoarau and he has plenty of experience at a high level.}

I just think we'd benefit more from more quality at the top end. Teams barely create chances against us

========================
Teams barely create chances against us ?????
Remind me, what was the score against Villa and Stoke !?

Roy

Guillaume Hoarau, a.k.a. the French Andy Carroll

G {Ed002's Note - But he would cost perhaps 3-4M euro.}

29 Dec 2012 17:50:43
We had 6 easily avoidable chances against us in both games and conceded 6 goals, due to poor defending, not goalkeeping. As we progress as a team under Rodgers we are having more of the ball, less chances against us and creating more and spending more the in the final 3rd. Two quality additions in this area will really move us forward. Other areas can then be improved where necessary in the summer. If you look at the stats we're right up there in terms of chances created but very poor at chances converted. It's not rocket science.

I'm watching arsenal against newcastle and would definitely go for demba ba

Hoarau has not scored many goals of late and is seen as a substitute at PSG. Not a great buy if you ask me and we cannot afford to waste any more.

DJC

Ba come to Liverpool

After watching arsenal v newcastle, i'd jump at buying demba ba

As well as goal scorers i think we need a combative, no-nonsense midefielder in the Roy Keane/De Rossi mould. I know we have Lucas who is a very good player but i'd like to see someone with a bit more agression and tenacity. I know its a very broad question but do the eds know of anykne like this being looked at? Thanks

The Spaniard {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest in such players right now.}

Agree with the poster. I think Capoue would be a great buy and could be available for 8-10 mil. Wanyamaand Mvila are better but potentially out of our reach.

Diame for £3.5million would be perfect

Had someone like mvila in mind but completly forgot about diame. Either one would be ideal but probably not likely

The Spaniard

The return of Xabi Alonso

To be fair, what club wouldn't want a Roy Keane or Daniel De Rossi?

Actually getting one is the hard part!

Joe

Sahin? this is were sahin playes best as a deeper midfielder. he likes picking the ball out from deep areas. but rodgers wont play him. no idea why. atleast then gerrard can push higher up the pitch maybe lucas and sahin with gerrard behind suarez??

Yep I think we need a powerhouse type midfielder also you can say a Gerrard replacement.
A box to box player someone who can put himself about get tackles in BUT also use their power to start attacks burst through opposition midfields and defenses. Some1 wen the game isn't going away way can just use a burst of energy to create something
I was thinking a Yaya Toure type.
Diame, Moussa Sissoko, Wanayama. Etc.

Hy Eds.
I have just read a news that wallcot agent sad that his client want to join lfc in january window. Hw much truth in it. And do u expect wallcot to join lfc in january. And any more news ince deal. Do u expect any more signings in jan except ince sturidge.
All the best to lads for qpr game. Hope they get all 3 points.
Thanx.
Plz do reply.
Ur response will be much apprecitaed. {Ed002's Note - I don't know of anything from Walcott's agent saying his client wishes to move to Livepool in January and I really don't expect Walcott to make such a move. I don't know of anything more on Ince but still expect the deal to be done. I would not expect much beyond the two - perhaps a player on loan.}

His agent hasn't claimed anything of the sorts! Things may not be sorted during the january window? Both parties will take their time! To be fair arsenal have things in place ready for the player to sign! there are just a few issues that need to be ironed out on walcott's behalf

29 Dec 2012 14:53:40
Is there a possibility of Pato joining on loan? {Ed002's Note - I would think it very unlikely.}

No! I can't see it!

29 Dec 2012 14:08:24
Eds how do you think ince would fit into our system if he was to be signed and do you still think downing and Assaidi feature in liverpools long term plans? Also what do you think will happen with Henderson? Luke_LFC {Ed002's Note - Ince would provide an option on the wing. I would expect Downing to move on - probably in the summer, but Middlesboro might be an option sooner than that. I don't know anything about Assaidi not being in the plans as a squad player. Henderson was nearly gone in the summer - I would not be surprised if he went next summer to raise some cash for transfers.}

29 Dec 2012 14:02:38
All gone really quiet with Theo and new contract at arsenal. Surely they would tie it up before January to stop the pre contracts and other such options...

If Liverpool were interested is there any way he'd know or would an offer have to be accepted first ?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool could speak to his agent if they were interested.}

Who is this about? {Ed002's Note - You may want to read the first line again.}

Expect Arsenal to lose Walcott for nothing in the summer, same as Van Persie. Wenger will not attempt a January transfer. This is form for Wenger. {Ed002's Note - Actually, Manchester United paid £27M for van Persie - so it is not quite the same.}

A friend who is a southampton supporter has just told me that gaston ramires has a clause in his contract that he can leave if southampton are relegated..we have been linked with hm before and after watching him in the olympics and playing for southampton i think.he would really add alot of creativity to the team..do you know are they interested in him again? Great site by the way i visit it everyday keep up the good work :)

I was at the lfc southampton game a few weeks back and i didnt even know he was playing. He did nothing. I personally think hes a mid table player, not what we need.

Stoke 3 Liverpool 1
Stoke 3 Southampton 3

When is it that Suarez will join his pal at Saints?

You lot are simply arrogant. You think every decent player will want to join your club, even though you are financially pretty weak and playing wise, live on past glories.

Sorry, Saints will not be relegated and will finish this season around mid table.

I think you've had too much Christmas pud, your destined for the Championship.

When you have some knowledge about English, then you can start on learning about football-if it's you've, it is also you're.
I remember some years ago the call was "southern softies"-seems that is one title that has now been won by Liverpool. Oh well, at least you will have won something this season.

Eds thanks for the heads up. just checked him out, looks a good little player, pacey, direct, has a good starting position. Reminds me a lot of valencia at utd. Eds how serious is our interest in him? would he be a summer target? or is he just one of a number of young players being looked at generally? Any other names for us eds. p.s the real fans appreciate you keeping us informed of overseas targets/scouting etc. {Ed002's Note - Unfortunately, the thread was deleted when the abuse started - in the same way as any discussion of the players the scouting staff had been looking at in South America in the summer. I can only assume that it is some form of xenophobia linked to South American players they have not heard of before. It is easier for us to avoid teh subject.}

Hello Ed,
I would like to offer an apology from the other supporters who appreciate your info.
On another note Ed any truth in the rumours of the return of rick parry ?
I am really worried. {Ed002's Note - Thanks. I don't know where this Parry thing comes from but there was a suggestion, probably back in the Spring, that Mr Parry was providing advice to FSG. I always thought it was Mike not Rick.}

Apologies if I am being the village person here but who exactly are we discussing here. Thanks for the help! {Ed002's Note - It is unimportant now.}

Note to any 'Liverpool supporters' who are anti South American players / people: There are a lot of South American supporters of Liverpool, including expats living in South America who, like me, have family members that are South American.

Hi

Looks like LFC will be signing Sturridge & i personally think it will be a great signing.

He will do a lot more than any other attacker bar Suarez, that we had in the last few years.

Ed word around that LFC, Chelsea, M City are all interested in the same player.

Could you shed some/any light on this.
1. Who is the player
2. Is it true

Thanks

YNWA-SA {Ed002's Note - I can think of several players that any two clubs have been interested in and no doubt there are several that all three have scouted at one point or another but cannot think of any with shared interest right now. In the past Llorente, Ilicic and Erikson have at one time or another interested all of the clubs. Fairly recently a Brazilian player was of interest to both Manchester City and Chelsea and was scouted by Liverpool. Manchester City and Chelsea have both been interested in Falcao and, previously Willian, Caballero and Jovetic. Bangna also interests both. Butland has been linked with Manchester City and with Liverpool, but Chelsea has no interest. So I don't think I can help much. Sorry.

Yes you have helped too much.
Seems like the Brazilian player is on his way to England. Not sure which one of the 3 clubs though.

YNWA-SA {Ed002's Note - I would doubt that, but we will see.}

Hi ed, just curious to know who is the Brazilian player?
Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Atletico Mineiro's Bernard. He rejected opportunities to join Zenit and Qatar in the summer but there was a lingering thought that he may move on this January. Inter and Liverpool both had Bernard watched last summer with Inter going as far offering part ownership of others in exchange for part ownership of Bernard, but again that was refused. However, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow, Terek Grozny and Shakhtar Donetsk have recently approached Atletico Mineiro and whilst a 12M euro offer from Terek was rejected, it looks like a deal could be still be done and perhaps AC Milan will put together a package including a player as part of the deal. Whilst he is certainly attracting interest from several sides and a very good offer could tempt them to sell, I suspect Atletico Mineiro and Bernard would prefer to hold off on any move for, say, another year. Chelsea has been keeping a close eye on his progress as have Manchester City. He was one of the South American players that Liverpool were scouting earlier in 2012.}

just read on a popular liverpool transfer rumour twitter page he has heard news that liverpool are in talks with newcastle to attempt to sign demba ba for 5 million, i know his release cause is 7-8 mill but liverpool want him cheaper, have you heard anything eds? {Ed002's Note - If Twitter's WonderDogSparky has not said it is true, then I can assure you it isn't.}

Thomas Ince will be joining Liverpool in the first week of the window, along with Daniel Sturridge.

Brendan Rodgers is adamant on bringing in Anderlecht pair - Lucas Biglia and Matias Suarez

JMRED95 {Ed002's Note - Fiorentina and Lazio are amongst the clubs who have enquired after Biglia. Anderlecht rejected an approach from Parma last season but I suspect he could well move this winter with Wolfsburg, AC Milan and Arsenal looking very keen indeed, but there may well be interest from other Italian clubs. He has, on a number of occasions, expressed an interest in playing in Spain but previous interest from Real Madrid seems to have waned; lately his desire is to move to Italy.

Liverpool along with Bayern Munich, PSG, Zenit, Arsenal, Newscastle, Lazio and Juventus have shown an interest in Matias Suarez in the past but there seems to only be interest from Napoli and, as ever, CSKA Moscow right now. Suarez rejected approaches from CSKA Moscow and Galatasaray in the summer. However, CSKA returned with a further bid and they believed the deal was done before Suarez failed his medical. So for now he remains slightly in limbo. For a move to England he will need a work permit and not playing for the national team is a major issue against it happening. Claiming on an exception basis will also be difficult for someone of his age. His other option would be to seek a Belgian passport and stay a while longer there. Otherwise, he can move freely to other European countries.}

A suarez pair at Lfc would be awesome

Four terrible signings

Hey Eds, hope all is well. Just a quick one. Has Loic Remy been scouted at all or his he available. I know of interest from Newcastle. He looks quality.
cheers guys
Jackson8787 {Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle, Everton and Lille have shown varying degrees of interest in Loic Remy but there have been no approaches to Marseille regarding Remy from Liverpool or from QPR who appear to be the latest club linked with the player. There was discussion with Chelsea about Remy during the negotiations over Azpilicueta but it came to nothing. Remy would perhaps be interested in a move to England but his recent form has been poor and Marseille know it will be difficult to get a good price for the player. Newcastle will very likely complete the transfer of Remy in January, although there is a slim chance that they might face opposition from Everton who made a recent approach to Marseille about his availability. As far as Marseille are concerned, they have started looking for a replacement.}

He will go to the French Newcastle

Only two players will be arriving in January and they are the two we all know of, however at least one loan could be done and I was just wondering if the ed's could shine any light on who that may be?

If you come on here often you should know that the potential loanee is Jeffren!

Y do people ask the same questions and repeat the same sh*t constantly?

Red Lee

"Telling" us only two are coming, and in the same breath contradicting yourself adding one loan, and to top it off, then asking who that will be?
You're the one who's said we're getting a loan player? You tell us? lol this site is fulla bonkers sometimes :-P

Sturridge, Ince and loan villa
