Is there anything in these Leroy Sane rumours ed? I like what I've seen of the guy but surely it would right ibe out of contention, especially if markovic comes back. Personally I'd rather see abit of experience uptop someonone like Mkhitaryan would be ideal. I think we need established players for Klopp to lean on.

While I'm on the subject of transfers do you think we will get another CB or will Matip be the only signing.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - I don't know about any rumours but nothing has changed in respect of Sane. Schalke rejected bids from Spurs and Stoke for Leroy Sane in the summer of 2015. A number of clubs from across Europe have had the player watched in the first and reserve sides towards the end of last season and at the start of this - including Manchester United, Barcelona, Sunderland, Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen, PSG, West Ham and RBL. Do not discount a bid from Manchester City in the summer after an approach was pushed back in January - where they were loathe to meet the potential asking price, even though they were willing to make a very significant offer. Now Manchester City know that a bid from Barcelona is imminent and that will be immediately followed by a bid from Real Madrid as the three clubs battle over a summer move. As to whether he is ready just yet, no, probably not. There is the potential to yet again see a great talent squashed (at least for a year or two).}

Morning Eds,
Listening to talk sport this morning and Mickey Quinn stated that the list of players Liverpool are working for next season is going to be exciting times for Liverpool fans. Any idea who these players may be or should we take this with a pinch of salt?

Believable0 Unbelievable11

{Ed002's Note - I have explained where I am aware of some level of interest being shown in players. If Mr Quinn wishes to tell you how nifty it is going to be you would do better to ask him to share some detail rather than ask me to tell you what he is thinking about. As it is a radio show you should be able to call him to ask - and if he says it is a secret list then perhaps you could ask him about each of the players I have already explained about.

But you cannot seriously expect me to tell you what players he is referring to when he is giving you no more that it is "going to be exciting times".}

Talksport is just rubbish and sensationalist rubbish at that. It is part owned by Kelvin McKenzie, so I wouldn't listen to it if I were you.

Thanks Eds,
You get up the wrong side of the bed this morning?

Next time I see Mr Quinn i'll make sure to ask him;-)

Agree2 Disagree15

{Ed001's Note - Micky is a blert, you can tell him that from me. He has about as many connections within LFC as me nan, and she died years ago. He knows sweet fa and anyone listening to talksh*** needs help, as they are contributing to Kelvin 'Scum' McKenzie's wallet.}

29 Feb 2016 10:45:44
OK ed001, I can assure you I don't need help. I was just putting out there what I heard to ask the question.

Agree0 Disagree9

{Ed001's Note - yet you are a Liverpool fan happy to help line McKenzie's pockets. I think I am going to have to disagree on that. Especially as you seem to think Micky 'Horse Abuser' Quinn has anything to input on football when he is clearly a moron with absolutely no knowledge whatsoever.}

29 Feb 2016 11:08:48
Why are you assuming what I think about Mickey Quinn, I heard a comment being made and thought I would ask on here if there was anything to add meat to the bones.
I'm pretty sure that I am not the only Liverpool fan to listen to talk sport. But hey each to their own.

Agree1 Disagree10

{Ed001's Note - you needed to ask, that is enough.}

29 Feb 2016 12:23:24
You shouldn't listen at all to Talksport, its part owned by Kelvin McKenzie and you are insulting the memories of those lost at Hillsborough by doing it. It is as bad as buying the sun.

Mr Dennis behave would you. I support LFC and all the history ups downs that go with that. The last thing an LFC fan would do is do anything to tarnish the memory of the 96. Another fact is I didn't even realise he was involved with talksport.

All this because you ask a question with regards your club.

Much as I don't like to get in the way of a good online 'fact off', Kelvin MacKenzie sold Talksport in 2005 to Irish firm UTV.

Yes, he could still own shares, however it is impossible to prove if he does (he could own shares in Standard Chartered. )

Its highly unlikely he retained any interest given that he is trying to launch a rival talk radio station. In fact, it may be unlawful for him to have an interest in more than one broadcaster on the same platform?

Agree1 Disagree6

{Ed001's Note - it is not unlawful, or even illegal, for him to do so.}

29 Feb 2016 21:31:13
I never even knew Mackenzie had anything to do with the station until a recent conversation on the show about him, from what was being said I had the impression he had completely cut ties with talksh, a few months back Mr Durham was utterly scathing of him not just over the obvious but as an employee working under him, mind you that's Durham all over

Thought I'd just throw it in the mix.

He could well have shares in Utv media (i could think of better companies to invest in) but he ceratinly doesn't own talksport anymore. Its still crap tho.

ts certaintly brings out the worst in these so called supporters lead by stan collymore, reason enough for me to not bother with the station, not that radio 5 is any better, the main problem with these stations is that they are full of to many mediocre ex players spouting there crap, not expecting you to remember they were crap as players, even worst as pundits.

Ed's what are the thoughts on Kolo toure and Steven Caulker?

Who do you think will stay next year? Is there any possibility of keeping Steven Caulker as a back-up CB and replacing with departing Kolo?

Believable0 Unbelievable12

{Ed001's Note - Caulker? He was a huge error, Inglethorpe recommended him but he is simply not good enough and Klopp realises that, which is why he turned to Lucas at centre half, rather than look to use Caulker there. The possibility of him staying is probably about the same as the FA voiding the result of yesterday's final and awarding it to us.}

29 Feb 2016 07:40:44
For some reason I'd forgot about Caulker his signing was a massive clanger by the way thought Lucas played great.

Agree8 Disagree7

{Ed001's Note - it was a terrible decision, I doubt Inglethorpe will be recommending anyone else he worked with back then, that's for sure!}

29 Feb 2016 08:12:21
Lucas was great yesterday, he has virtually no physical attributes, but won a lot of headers from crosses, more than I've seen any of our centre halves this season do, he was aggressive into aguero, miss timed a few tackles, but it's better than letting aguero turn and shoot. Giving aguero two chances over 120 mins, one where sakho slipped is pretty good going.

Agree8 Disagree7

{Ed001's Note - Sakho didn't slip, it was a consequence of the clash of heads, his legs gave out under him, hence taking him off.}

29 Feb 2016 09:27:38
To be fair to Inglethorpe he also recommended Kev Stewart and he's turning out to be a bargain free transfer.

Agree3 Disagree6

{Ed001's Note - yes but Kevin Stewart he was still working with up until he recommended him. Caulker he had not worked with in years, but still thought to recommend him, without taking into account how little progress he made.}

29 Feb 2016 11:54:50
I know Inglethorpe isn't a scout as such so my question would apply more to the people within the club who are but I'm wondering when they're hired what are their "goals" each season.

So for example Klopp is brought in with the goal of ultimately making Liverpool successful again. That's his goal and that's what he will ultimately be appraised on.

When scouts are hired I assume their goal is to essentially find good players for the team. How often are they appraised for the job they're doing?
