The Telegraph has reported that Liverpool's Managing Director Ian Ayre is heavily involved in negotiations with Swansea City to complete a deal for Joe Allen to become a Liverpool player.

Ian Ayre was initially scheduled for heading to USA to be part of the Liverpool party that toured North America for pre-season exertions, but due to unfinished business in regards to this Joe Allen transfer, he decided to stay in UK and continue talks with Swansea City.

As it has already been reported, in Joe Allen's current contract with Swansea, the release clause states that he can leave to either of the traditional Big 4 or Manchester City for a fee worth £15 million or higher. Liverpool's representatives led by Ian Ayre on the other hand, are trying to bring Swansea City down to a smaller fee.

Well were not big 4 at the moment so whats the problem?

"traditional Big 4"
Man Unt, Lpool, Chelsea, Arsenal.

Ayre was in America, 100% fact. There were pictures of him in The Four Seasons in Boston last week. So Bascombe is wrong. Again. He was at the Roma game. He came back early though and was seen in town the day of the Spurs game. Baxcombe also claims that Aquilani is on £125,000 a week which is clearly not true.

Do not buy him

WHY WHY WHY- we dont need him and he is not much better than what we already have

We do need him and he is a lot better than most of what we have, he would also bring a passing urgency, a passing vision and a fluidity of movement that we currently lack in spades

Just back from our trip to Boston and Baltimore. Here's some of what we have heard. Charlie to Fulham for Dempsey + 3M. Ramirez is less that 50-50. Joe Allen if Aqua goes only. Loans possibly Tello and Affalay with Affalay possible a makeweight for Saurez + 25M in 2013 if he settles. Talked with Agger in Boston. He said Skerts not leaving and he thinks Carroll stays. Pepe not happy yet but will stay. Jack robo is LB understudy but will be given chance.

Chi-Paul

What a load of rubbish. Especially the afffalay loan. Sorry but don't believe any of it. I think you will find you will get a lot of that wrong. Aquilani has absolutely nothing to do with the Allen deal.

Jimbob

Thanks for sharing mate.

Kaizer

Seems logical enough. But the price for Suarez would have to be much more than 25m. He's probably one of the top 5 players in the world. In that Barca team he'd be amazing. Don't think Affelay is worth 5m. Wouldn't be too bothered if Pepe went after last seasons performance. Looked slow last season. And his decision making was poor which is very unlike him.

Thanks for sharing your useless "information"
Dan

Ramirez isn't happening. People need to get used to this fact

Not my rumours Jimbob. Just passing on what we heard a lot of. Heard Affalay and Tello from numerous different people. The Aqua thing is more because he's making 5+ M a year and need to be moved on and are happy to take in allen if they get shot of aquas wages.

Chi-Paul

Adam for Dempsey + £3m? You sure the cash wouldn't be going the other way?

The Afellay/Tello/Suarez this sounds unreasonably complicated, even for Barcelona.

If true, good news about Skrtel and Carroll.

Verdad

Good standard of rumour. Thats what it all about - getting over to an away game, speaking to players and reporting back. Its the tick-taka of rumours! Like it!

You talk as if you know these things and you just don't do you.

Talked to Agger? ...given that he was so thorough in explaining the total goings on re Liverpools transfers I'm surprised he didn't inform you that he was looking to leave, with Manchester City his likely destination.

But you are only saying agger is looking to leave thru a rumour so give the bloke a break. this site is all about that kind of stuff. its not a liverpool done deal we signed the player site

What a load of rubbish! Why make up story's, it's a waste of time.

vargas would be perfect for us, he is fast and powerful yet has decent ball control and what a left foot (especially free kicks), he can play left mid, left wing forward or left wing back. having him on the bench would mean that the left side is pretty much covered with a player of similar ability as the one coming off in any of those 3 positions.

We've enough players who are good enough for the bench. I think we have to do our best to get players on the next level rather than bench players.

-Shane.

Vargas is 29 this year nd has serious pie issues, if your gonna use him as a sub he'll end up one fat mutha! Due to his age you've got no resale value their if things don't work out.

We'd be better off putting the money toward someone with age on their side, personally I'd like to see us go for someone who can cover various positions, I'd go for giovinco he can play on the wings, attacking mid or second striker and would fit rodgers style of play.

Fester

In all fairness i don't think robinson is a big step down from enrique. i think that he can be a good LW/LF if we fail to land our primary targets.
derryred

If we had Vargas playing behind Joe Cole on the left side, the pitch would probably subside. Poor Jordan Henderson and Glen Johnson would need mountain climbing boots to stand up on the pitch.

29 Jul 2012 22:15:01
Oh my god... I cannot believe the comment above. From the friendlies it is clear the left side belongs to Pacheco, who will start in our first Europa league game.

Also, in the friendlies our right back position has been weak without Johnson and Kelly. And don't even get me started in Joe Cole.

We lack a right sided player... And from Macca's latest post, I will guess the player that might come on loan is pato.

STB

As mentioned by an earlier post, hes 29 and already has fat bast*rd syndrome.

No resale value, other than a swap with Aqua, i cant see it happening.

He'd only be perfect cover for all left sided positions if we were interested in him... The papers seem to just bring up all old transfer news over and over again, its so boring.

Rocky

You meant the over weight guy? No thanks!

Eds I have heard from a friend in America that he reckons the Dempsey transfer is all but off. Rodgers was keen but not at the price Fulham have set £12m. {Ed002's Note - Interest remains in Dempsey from Liverpool and elsewhere. I would not call it off just yet.}

I sure hope that interest remains in Dempsey and we get our man, hopefully he will submit a transfer request to help push the deal through.

Barry

Liverpool are happy to leave it until the last minute to get this deal through, with no other obvious clubs interested we should get him for 5/6M in the last week of the deadline

Bottom line is clint dempsey will NOT sign for Liverpool neither will Joe Allen!!

He' not worth more than 7mil

Baz F

I agree with above comment. i think it will be a deadline day deal ,he'll probably leave fulham for 5-6 million, wouldnt put my house on it that it will be liverpool that gets him though

As I said in the first comment here, Liverpools offer is about 5/6M, they're not budging, so Fulham either take it or let him go for nothing next year, Fulham are just trying to play hard ball, if it go's through it'll be close to the deadline

Ed02 you're normally up on your Italian football. Have Fiorentina seriously bid £7 million for Aquilani. I highly doubt it'll be that much, maybe it's Euro's?

Also do you still feel the Ramirez rumours are false? I personally do not think we've bid or are even close to making one, but I respect know your knowledge. Please no auto reply, as I know that one well. I just want a fresh opinion.

Papa G {Ed002's Note - I would agree with you that the price would more likly be Euros rather than GBP. I don't know of a bid from Fiorentina but I do know that Aquilani's agent has been trying hard to organise a move. As for Ramirez, the auto reply stands still. If Liverpool wish to make a bid then they need to talk to Bologna. They have set a price of 25M euros but I am sure that is negotiable. In addition to that I can say that Betancourt is looking for a 7M euro signing on fee as he has told another club. Again I suspect there would be the opportunity to negotiate. The further complexity regarding third party ownership may not be an issue as I understand that the 25M euros includes their payment.}

Pound or euros doesn't matter...sell!

Lets keep aquilani, the money we are offered for him is pathetic, just give him a game

If he was younger and on less than 100k a week then I would agree but it's not economically to have him with us if he is not a first teamer on that much money. Much in the same was as its not right having Carroll sat on the bench on 80k a werk

29 Jul 2012 11:58:21
Hi Ed(s) i know this has been covered a lot but did we actually make a 25m euro bid for Jovetic or was that another club
Thanks {Ed002's Note - Not Liverpool. Juventus.}

Well that must reduce the likelihood of them going for suarez.
derryred {Ed002's Note - No.}

Anything new on Dzegoev Ed?

If I'm right his contract runs out this winter, do you know if we have at least made enquiries?

Jonesred
{Ed002's Note - Dzagoev has interested Chelsea in the past but Arsenal have shown a lot of interest this past year including sending a contingent to watch him play in Moscow back last summer. Spurs have approached CSKA to be told he is not for sale this summer. He will be available on a free transfer at the end of the year, not in the summer, if CSKA cannot strike a new deal.}

But has Liverpool to your knowledge made any enquiries for him Ed?

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - Arsenal, Roma, Napoli and Spurs did show previous interest in Jovetic, but Chelsea and Juventus remain interested if the price is acceptable. Juventus is the most likely destination at this time.}

hi eds all reds im reading all sorts of rumours concerning andy carroll going to sunderland. ive seen this devlop over the last two weeks, not just about carroll but downing and adam have been linked . and not our player, adam johnson linked back to the north east. any truth in any of this? have sunderlands owners decided to splash the cash? probably bs. concerning players coming into liverpool fc , rameriaz and gatain? both? either? neither? skretel rumours still around , anything new? suarez, anything new there? i for one would like the group to stay together, with maybe two more additions. hope you can answer my questions. you all do a great job eds , and all other reds , keep the posts comeing! ive been addicted for two years to this site , great! godbless 96 all rreds. steviep62. {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new today. I still expect CArroll to go and Newcastle must be one of the more likely destinations.}

29 Jul 2012 10:33:54
Jovetic will arrive Aquilani plus 6m {Ed002's Note - A bid of 25M euros has bee rejected for Jovetic so it seems unlikely.}

Eds was this a bid from LFC or another club? thanks

JanBorman {Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Liverpool.}

Who from ed? {Ed002's Note - Juventus.}

You may have been misinformed mate.
More likely Aquilani + £6m for Vargas.
Fiorentina have put a £12m price tag on Vargas.
There are rumours that liverpool may be able to offload Aquilani for £6-7m to Fiorentina, and if we can get Vargas for £6-7m in the deal then i think both parties would be happy.

Red Lee

Ed who was the bid from Chelsea? Jovetic would be a perfect forward with Suarez & Borini either side of him at LFC. We can dream... {Ed002's Note - Juventus.}

The source of the story comes from the people as a result I would strongly doubt the accuracy of this story!!

29 Jul 2012 10:27:41
Hey Eds, Absolutely nothing in the Gaitan rumours. It is a tactic to draw Man United out to make an offer for him. {Ed002's Note - A better tactic for that would be to draw them out by saying a club who has shown some interest will make an offer. The transfer process is perhaps not as complex as you are making out.}

29 Jul 2012 10:08:19
Latest news on Aquilani!

Aquilani may be on his way to Fiorentina, with vargas coming to Liverpool.

Not a bad bit of business if it works out!

Red Lee

How about jovetic the other way?

Vargas isn't coming to Liverpool. But Aquilani may be off to Fiorentina.

THE SUMON VAI

If he can play lef back/wing back great - replace the hopeless enrique. Robinson as back-up

As a Peruvian and a Liverpool die hard fan I just hope Vargas does not come to Liverpool

According to reports on wearside, Sunderland are willing to pay 20mil for Andy Carroll.

Northeast red

Not a chance. This would be akin to Stevie going to play for Everton or Man Utd!

I like AC but frankly I think that would be a good deal for us, and possibly for him.Hope it is true.
CR

He will never go there but it may work to up the anti for newcastle to put hard cash on the table and stop trying to fleece us again

I don't like Carroll. He can go wherever he wants. Just as long as we get £20m for him & he's offloaded I'll be happy.

THE SUMON VAI

Lol ,There is not a hope in hell of that working out . He would never play for Sunderland.

Let me know from where Sunderland can dredge up £20 million and pay Andy's wages as well,

Can you really see andy carroll, a born and bred geordie moving to sunderland, their rivals

and can sunnderland even afford 20 mil

think about things before you say them mate

No mention of this on the Sunderland page.

Why wouldn't he go there. He has seen first hans what the Newcastle fans are like towards him. (the hatred for him when we played newcastle was something else). I don't see a problem with him going to Sunderland.

There's more chance of moving xmas to July 4th!
Oh dear,i've forgot to buy you a present,again!

How can people say he won't join coz their rivals? Owen? Carra? Im pretty sure they supported Everton before joining us

If they include James McClean then it would be a good deal. McClean is clearly 100x the player Downing wants to be....

With all due respect the mersey rivalry is a lot friendlier than the Northeast derby is .They really hate each other on a level with Celtic & Rangers.

Sunderland don't have £20 million to spend and Carrol would never play for them. Total non starter.

29 Jul 2012 08:21:50
Hey Ed, probably a stupid question but if we do offload Andy Carroll for 20mil, do you think we might move for Fernando Llorente?
KiwiRed {Ed002's Note - Fernando Llorente is interesting Spurs, PSG and Manchester City with rumours of interest from Arsenal and Manchester United as well. Barcelona are considering their future options which may involve a move for the player. There is a very good chance that he will move this summer and that other clubs will become interested - it is possible.}

We'll get blown out of the water, financially. We have to be smarter and go down the Arsenal/Newcastle route.

29 Jul 2012 08:04:44
hey eds, is it true that spurs are going to hijack joe allen from us just like they did with sigurdsson
Owen in AUS {Ed002's Note - It seems they may have interest. It is perfectly normal for more than one club to be interested in a player.}

The yods do this too us year in year out, as soon as we go in for a player there they are sad but true.jay essex red for life red till dead {Ed002's Note - Getting a little paranoid Jay.}

Hahah as alway ed jay essex red for life red till dead

Lets hope they get him - overpriced and overrated-not to mention we have a lot of players in that position already

I think he's right the be paranoid. It seems that the Spuds transfer policy is to read the echo. Maybe we should get the echo to swap the word Everton and Liverpool around so they end up with a blue s***e target.

No that won't work, they have no money, so no targets to write about.....

I think they will and i can see them put in a low ball bid on 30/8 for Andy Carroll of 15-18M which will be accepted by FSG if AC Milan dont buy him to replace Ibra.
Out manipulated by Alex and Evra last season and out salaried by spurs this season - we certainly are looking like a mid table club. The only thing FSG have not done yet is increase season tickets prices by 60% which will be they ROI look fantastic!

Makes me laugh when people say let spuds have him cos we already have players in that position but then in the next breath people are saying Adam, spearing, cole, aqua and Henderson are not good enough, make ur mind up men, if br wants joe Allen then I for one support that no matter how many midfielders we have got

Whoa! Just heard some very exciting news from my cousin who works within Melwood! Liverpool prepare to make an 18 million pound bid for exciting Benfica winger Gaitan...

Ramirez and Gaitan are now Rodgers' 2 main targets as they're both versatile and quality young players!

Thanks Jim (Source from inside Melwood)

YNWA

Are Liverpool really interested in Ramirez and Gaitan eds ? or is t js a rumour ? {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

Jim you've read your "source" wrong. The report says 18 million euros (14 million quid).
Source, lol

Doubt it.- Matty

Jim did you also know that givemefootball posted an article similar to urs saying that we have put in a bid for Gaitan; what a coincidence! ;)

Inside Melwood or from Twitter. Why do people feel the need to do stuff like this.

Man u were in for Gaitan last January they were quoted 30 to 35m so why would they sell him for 18m

Financial problems with them needing to raise 50 million is causing them to sell.

Jonesred

How many work at Melwood? So many rumours sourced from there there must be a huge staff or one guy is REALLY busy leaking things.

Reality check- If you manufacture a rumour it doesn't make it happen in real life. IF Ramirez and Gaitan are available for a good price, how exactly are Liverpool going to make themselves a more attractive proposition than teams that have Champions League football and can offer them a lot more money?

Would love this to be true but i highly doubt it.

The only thing I hope is accurate is that we are looking at Gaston Ramirez due to the quality he adds. However, I am very doubtful whether the yonks can fund it. I really feel the club will be sold next year, I do not believe Henry & co have sufficient funds to go any further!

The main target is Joe Allen. Clint Dembsey was second of main targets but Fulham`s price tag is too high (12) million. Liverpool have now shown interest in Gaitan and Mbaye Niang. I have been told also that liverpool will enquiry Moussa Sissoko.

norppamc

Hate when ppl fabricate that they have a source. just be honest, cuz i read the same thing on twitter. Hope it's true by the way..... either would be an uprgrade to what we have.... Trini_red

Well your source with inside info is about 2 days behind the daily mail.
derryred

We all know your cousins got mental health issues mate , he thinks he is the queen , so tbh i dont believe any rumours he thinks he has herd from his imaginary melwood job !!
