Hi eds,
Is there any rumours of us being linked to any centre backs because I still think that's a pisition that we need to strengthen?
Thanks solLFC
{Ed001's Note - have you seen how many we have?}

Surely trolling?!

Personally think we do need one if, as seems quite possibly the case, we are loaning out Ilori again as, although we wouldhave a load of them left, Sakho's the only one even close to resembling a top four standard central defender.
Skrtel's a walking disaster, Lovren's still looking lost, Wisdom's off on loan, Toure shouldn't ever be starting in the league for us and, although Gomez has looked promising on the tour, he's yet to kick a ball in the Premier League.
We really need to get rid of some of our centre-backs and bring in new ones, so in that respect I agree. However with the club having recently committed to more of Toure and Skrtel it looks like that won't be happening.

Yea a clear out in general is needed, I think we can all agree. But it looks like Liverpool are overpricing players or there hasn't been much interest in who we're trying to offload so there's no point bringing anyone in until we do. If there's time either of the Eds would it be possibly to get an update on possibly outgoings? I thought Borini was all but done but there's been a lack of any real transfer out news lately.
Thanks
{Ed002's Note - Putting aside the likes of Alberto and Wisdom who are probably gone for good, Lambert will move on if a deal can be agreed with any interested side (WBA perhaps). Lazio are interested in Borini, but it is unclear if they will pay the wages he wants. His representative are aware that they need to look for options and he has spoken with Fiorentina who will, perhaps, make an offer. Carpi are interested in a loan. The player wants the EPL but there are no offers. Liverpool will look to sell Balotelli in the summer but they need to reduce the price they are asking by some way. A number of clubs were approached in January but none were interested in a permanent deal at the price being asked. I suspect his representatives will focus on a return to Italy although have said how happy he is at Liverpool. Last year a sponsor tried to place him with another side once Milan were pissed at him and wanted him out - but that would no longer be an option. An alternative may be a Turkish side. Fiorentina and Inter were both open to discussing a deal for Balotelli - but the asking price has killed any chance of that, but Sampdoria would be interested in taking him on loan, or perhaps to buy at the right price. He has been offered to Lazio. His agent has informed Liverpool of what clubs are willing to offer - they won't be happy. We'll see what happens.
Expect a couple of other outs as well.}

Thanks Ed002. The detailed replies are appreciated as always. Let's just hope players can be moved on in everyone's best interest. It's not nice seeing signings not working out but at the same time they need to be offered a chance to move on with their career instead of stagnating.

I am old fashioned - I can actually remember the times when we had leadership at the club - people who could actually coach young players and make them into better players and perhaps people.
Rather than buy yet another CB why don't we have a crack at coaching the ones we have and trying to make them better players ?

We do have a lot of cb's, but i they are not good enough. ill take quality over quantity any day, look at chelski they had 3 last year and won the league.
