Hi eds,

Just got back from Goa so not been up to date with the latest but is there any news on a new contract for BR I think he is doing a great job. Or do you think the owners will see where we finish this season.

Thanks,

Red raj {Ed001's Note - I don't know of any plan or need to give him a new contract right now. There is no rush, better to see how things lie in the New Year, once the window has shut.}

Its far too early to consider a new contract for BR. we have had a favourable run of fixtures since the start of the season in my opinion. When we were tested in the odd tougher game, we've struggled. I am certainly not getting carried away by our current league position. The owners really need to wait until the end of the season to assess contract matters. Its still unclear whether Suarez will remain at the club beyond January which remains a real concern and I am hearing Sturridge may be out injured now for 3 months after doing his ankle ligament in training yesterday.

eds.
-since we looking for long term replacement for rightback, why not lfc go for Nathaniel clyne? he got pace.comfortable to go forward and defend ability also very good. Are we interested in him?

-hope Mitrouglu rumours not true. he's not type of player we are looking for. Hopefully we really go for Yarmolenko. can play wide and also striker. if lfc bid for him, hw much his club looking for?

thnx much. {Ed001's Note - not a chance of getting Clyne for a reasonable fee, why suggest him? Do you think Southampton have any need or desire to sell? Because they don't.}

Hi EDs,
I was just wondering what the latest new is on January signings? What is the likely chances of the following out of 10. Koke, Salah, Mitriliogou, Montaya, Alonso and Cabaye? I really think we should spend reasonably big in January to push on for the rest of the season. Realisitcally it will probably either koke-16.5 million buyout clause or cabaye not both, salah-15m, montaya 3-4m and mitrigolou 5-7. That would be around 35 million in total.
Would really appreciate a reply. Or else a description of what you know about interest in each of the players from us.
Cheers eds. great work as always.

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona have held talks about Koke as have another side. Manchester United maintain an interest and I am told that Manchester City have also had Koke watched recently. I am not aware of any interest from Liverpool.

Liverpool, Dortmund, Spurs and Fiorentina have shown an interest in Mohamed Salah, and Basel will look to sell in January if they drop out of the Champions League.

Mitroglou has attracted a lot of interest with Mainz, Inter and Dortmund declaring an interest in the player. Certainly Arsenal has had the player scouted and I suspect others like Liverpool have done the same.

Martin Montoya has been subject to rejected offers from Napoli and a loan offer from Monaco who opted for Tavares instead. Arsenal and Inter made enquiries over the summer but Barcelona have made it clear they do not wish to sell him. Whilst contract talks with Barcelona are at a standstill because he is asking for guarantees they cannot provide, the interest of Arsenal remains and interest of Chelsea was recently declared when another player was being discussed. His agent has confirmed he is aware of interest from other clubs including Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke 04.

I see Alonso's options as a short-term contract in Madrid, Galatasaray (can't see him moving there now), New York Red Bulls, Colorado Rapids or LA Galaxy (all possible) and finally Real Sociedad (in the future perhaps). I can't say the most likely thing to happen but I could give an opinion that he willstay one more year in Madrid, move to the MLS (maybe the NY Red Bulls) and then return to Spain to end his career with Real Sociedad.

If Cabaye were to move it would likely be to a side who can provide Champions League football, but I have no expectation he will in January. Roma are interested.}

Hi eds
Have seen on here and in papers last few days that Liverpool are interested in Montoya, when iv seen him he seems a great talent, just kind of full back we need.
However in the paper it says it is to solve our left back problem, however every time I see him he has been right back and is certainly right footed.
So was just wondering if you knew if he has played left back much or if we are buying him to either play him out of position or swap Johnson over
Cheers {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware he is a right back, though he can cover left back, he is certainly not one. I would think it more because Johnson can't be trusted to stay fit for long periods that we are interested. It would not be the first time Liverpool have looked to replace him long term.}

Cheers for the reply eds
What other options have they considered as long term replacements?
Newspapers probably just putting two and two together as he is a full back and we need a left back
Thanks again {Ed002's Note - Ed001 is correct in that Montoya, whilst being versatile, is primarily a right back. In terms of a left back, Liverpool has enquired after Ryan Bertrand via his agent.}

I seem to recall Bertrand turning down offers in the summer, insisting he wanted to establish himself at Chelsea. Do you think he has finally accepted Chelsea do not want him Ed, or will he simply reject us again?

YNWAdam {Ed002's Note - Chelsea has not said that they don't want him. It is simply a case of a couple of clubs enquiring after a player with his agent. This happens all of the time.}

I would have thought hat with Ashley Coles age and a new manager Bertrand probably thought it was worth staying but recently they have dropped cole and have been playing right backs instead so I severely doubt he would still want to stay or be confident of a future there as he clearly isn't even first choice back up it would seem
