Hi Ed's, is there any possibility of LFC possibly signing Edin Dzeko as a possible Luis Suarez replacement if he leaves. also is there any interest in Henrik Mkhitaryan as a possible long term replacement for Steven Gerrard? {Ed001's Note - Dzeko to replace Suarez? Seriously? Do you even have to ask that??? And no.}

03 Apr 2013 12:12:50
The possibility is possibly possible, however it is by no means a certainty :)

YNWA! (Adam)

I wouldn't mind moussa sow or mario gomez.

I have a few contacts with the club and consensus is our main target is to get 2 new top quality centre backs and a top quality midfielder. Below is a list of Targets that are well known within the club as people we will actively try to buy:

Christian Eriksen (Ajax) £14m - £20m
Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid) £15m - £20m (Steven Gerrard very much wants Alonso back)
Stefan de Vrif (Feyenood) £8m - £12m
Ashley Williams (Swansea) £6m - £8m
Joleon Lescott (Man City) £8m - £12m
Mamadou Sakho (Paris SG) £10m - £14m
Dede (Vasco) £12m - £16m

Notes
We will not be trying to sign a new goalkeeper. Brendan Rodgers is extremely happy with Pepe Reina and having Brad Jones as a back up keeper. If one does come in, they will be 21 or under.

I wouldn't expect another top name striker either. Rodgers will be happy with Suarez as his leading man with back up provided by Sturridge and Borini. Don't forget Yesil is coming through as well.

Alonso, in the last year of his contract. No more than 10m

So your saying that we will buy 2 new CB when we will still have Agger, Kelly and Wisdom if Skrtel & Coates leave as expected and Carra retires I doubt it, As for the midfielder we have ample of options there so really don't see Alonso coming back although Eriksen may well join as he is different to what we have.

You know nothing then, Yesil is out for another year with his knee injury, Lescott 30 year old centre back on big wages? Alonso for 15 million, are the contacts at the club your other personality?

Whether Gerrard wants Alonso back or not, the simple fact is that FSG won't sanction a £15m - £20m transfer for a 31 year old with just a year left on his contract.

You have overpriced every player.

Every single player is overpriced by atleast 4-5 million.

Ok course he has overpriced every play we are Liverpool we always pay over the top fees

Eriksen would be great. de vrij is too slow for pl williams not good enough alonso too old does not fit fsg plan. lescot not for sale dede I don't know how good he is. we only need 2 defenders (quates/carra) 1 midfielder shelvey not ready yet. and a extra right winger. not much needed I guess carra/quates/asaidi out and shelvey/suso on loan.

The same Joleon Lescott that played for Everton? No thanks!

Not much needed? 33pts off the pace AGAIN this year!

Top quality centre backs - Lescott and Williams? Neither are better than what we already have

Ok, switch championship manager off and come into the real world. We will get none of these players

"we are Liverpool we always pay over the top fees"

Phillipe. Coutinho. begs. to. differ.

Hello Eds,
is it true Chelsea are looking at another CB. If so surely they would let one of theirs go.
I would really love us to go for Cahill if we are outbid for Dede/Benatia who would ideally be first chioce.
What do you reckon fellow kopites? {Ed002's Note - There is no plan to sell Cahill at this time. The Liverpool interest in Dede predates Rodgers and goes back to last summer and the players Caniggia was looking at. There might be renewed interest and I will continue to see what I can find out. Manchester United, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Fiorentina, Liverpool, Benfica and Roma have shown an interest in Vasco's Dede over the past couple of years. Recently AC Milan, Barcelona, Juventus, Anzhi, Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been keeping a watching brief on the player in the months leading up to the end of the Brazilian season. A bid has been made by Corinthians although I understand it is not a destination the player would consider right now and another by AC Milan in January - but they were told firmly that he was not for sale in January. Benfica and Anzhi have both spoken with Vasco since January to see if a deal could be struck in the summer and it seems that is very likely with the long-term interest of Manchester United which may be seen once more but their focus is now on Garay. AC Milan will again return with an offer but are aware that they may not be able to tempt Vasco to sell if, as expected, Chelsea make a cash bid.

Mehdi Benatia turned down PSG in the summer but still interests Juventus and in particularly Napoli and Anzhi. Spurs, both Milan clubs, Manchester City, and just possibly Manchester United have shown some level of recent interest. It is likely Udinese will sell in the summer after spurning a recent €15M off from Anzhi.}

Would it be fair to assume as of today then that Milan and Chelsea are the front runners for Dede? {Ed002's Note - See above.}

Hi ed if qpr go down will remy be looking to move? {Ed001's Note - he has a clause in his contract to allow him to do so, that would suggest it is his plan. I don't know which team would have any interest in a player on his wages though.}

Would be a good choice as he can play across the front 3 and flexibility will b key to who we sign this summer, however I fully expect him to join Spurs when qpr get relegated.

Hey Ed (s),

Is it true that Ashley Williams & Stefan Di Vrij are Liverpool's main CB targets?

I would be worried if that was the case. I know there's talk of Dede but that appears unlikely? One CB I would like us to sign is FC Twente's Douglas on a free. Bargain.

Also, are we looking to sign a defensive midfielder, and not just as cover? Lucas gets beat for pace/strength all too easy. Wanyama would be nice.

Mr Steinhaus. {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware we have not shown any actual interest in Williams.}

That is the best news that you have given me Ed.
Thanks a lot

On another note Ed have we shown any interest in Bruno Martins Indi?
I really believe we need a CB like him who can also cove for Enrique. {Ed002's Note - Feyenoord's Bruno Martins Indi is subject to interest from Dynamo Kyiv and Spurs.}

FC Twente's Douglas will be joining Inter Milan in the summer.

Id prefer us to use Kelly as 1st choice alongside Agger with Wisdom providing back up at CB and RB, promote Ryan McLaughlin to cover RB as well if needed, I do think we need 1 new CB as I would like to see Coates loaned out to either West Brom or Wigan for the whole season to see if he can cope week in week out.

Sadly I think that there is an interest in Williams. It was announced on the backpage of the Echo by James Pearce, and the Echo seems to have the ear of this Liverpool regime in terms of transfer targets.

David

The signing of Borini and Joe Allen shows what happens if you go back to your old club to buy players- hope and pray to God that Ashley Williams does not happen

In the same story by James Pearce it stated Liverpool no longer had any interest in De Vrij.
