Hi eds I was reading Barca are starting talks again to sign Reina any truth in this? Also if HM doesn't sign is Michu an option? {Ed002's Note - I don't think Barcelona has ever really gone away. I don't see Michu as an option at all.}
Believable17
Unbelievable19
Ed do you still think its between us and Dortmund for HM?
Because I just read somewhere they are close to signing PEA (St Etinne striker) and are very interested in Yarmalenko. So I guess that is pretty much their 50 million budget off. {Ed002's Note - I do think it still.}

What do you expect to happen Eds? Will Valdes leave Barcelona this summer or? {Ed002's Note - Interest remains in Valdes so he might well leave.}

On the subject of keepers, do you think Roma is close to sealing a deal for Cesar or Arsenal? And if either miss out on him do you see them turning to Reina? Roma I mean because the Arsenal rumors are pretty well known. {Ed002's Note - There is interest from Arsenal if they don't get Cesar.}

Ed are Dortmund looking at Yarmalenko as an alternative to Mkhitaryan? Cheers {Ed002's Note - Yarmolenko has been linked in the recent past with Real Madrid, Galatasaray, Napoli, Palermo and PSG whilst the sustained interest of AC Milan and, particularly, Fiorentina remains.}

West Ham interested in buying and loaning both Downing and Shelvey. Downing is available for just under £9mil and Shelvey likely to leave on loan. Rogers has faith in Shelvey and wants to give him a chance to force his way into Liverpool side for 2014/15 season.
Believable20

Reckon Downing will go back to NE like Andy was speculating and Shelvey will be sold.
Agree22

Cant see us letting Downing leave as he is a very good squad player and played an important part last season in allowing Johnson to bomb forward and Downing improved drastically, i'm hoping Shelvey is sent out on loan and not sold as he needs a full season playing regular 1st team football and he will get that at Norwich or Swansea, if he is sold which looks likely at the moment than surely with the going rate for English players we should not accept anything less than £8M(we will probably sell for £6M unfortunaly as we tend to let our players go for peanuts!) which must include a 30% - 40% resale, 1st refusal, appearances and future England caps etc, we really don't want another Tom Ince situation on our hands do we.

I hope this is true.

Don't loan them out sell them am sick our club loaning out on a view to buying them let's get ruthless like everyone else.

BigD, I'd rather Downing take his 70k a week from our bench to someone else's first team. He was absolutely abysmal until he was told find a new club in November, big big improvement then I agree but still don't think he offers enough going forward. I'd rather Borini/Sterling/Alberto to provide the competition and rotation with Aspas starting.
I'd sell Shelvey too I don't think his style suits us and he hasn't stepped up as much as expected. £6m and fair enough if you want to include clauses for intl caps, and 30% of any profits on a later sale. That would be a great deal for the club.
Agree38
Disagree4
Downing is rank, he played better (not hard too do given how abysmal he was previously) but still nowhere near the required level. On big wages, disappears in games and constantly loses possession - if someone offers 9million we should bite there arm off Suarez style and run.
Agree41
Disagree4
Downing is a good player. i'm sure if Aspas adapts quickly than he will take Downings place in the first team (if we can actually say we have a 1st team not a fluid squad of players). Downing is a good player and showed what he can do last season. But I still think Rodgers thinks that he is not creative enough in terms of goals and assists so could move on.
Agree4
Disagree15
Really hope downing going is true people saying he played better second half of the season forget he was all but told if he didn't play better he would be sold so to me it just shows he is for the money and is not good enough for us.
Agree17
Disagree2
I think downing could still do a job for us next season, but I don't expect him to clock up nearly as much game time as we saw him do last season. I think the way forward for us as a club is to (as JTR said. ) not have a set eleven players who play every week. We saw what happened to Glen last season, he was overplayed massively! Downing should be brought in against smaller teams when we need to steamroll them. You can't criticise him for his work ethic, which we will need to supplement the likes of Coutinho and Mkhitaryan (PLEASE IAN AYRE) when we go away to Norwich and beat them 34-0!
Agree3
Disagree3
Three things to remember re: Downing
1. He has 2 yrs on contract and that usually means a club starts negotiations on a new deal. If we don't it shows we have no long term plans for him. Best to sell now and get some resale, especially as Sterling will be ready next season to replace him as a more experienced first teamer.
2. He's on massive wages and now behind Aspas. The club don't want reserves earning more than starters.
3. He hasn't been value for money and being steady isn't enough for a club with CL aspirations.

Dave, are you also someone who complains about us harking on about our past?
Cos right now, I'd WANT to be emulating Liverpool, not for our past but for our future.
Young exciting players, who play to a system rather than just buying these 'big name players' who may or may not work out.
Also, building a team and a system that operates through out our academy. Barcelona have had decades of success based on this same blueprint.
So, you could do a lot worse that try to emulate Liverpool right now.

If you think DORTMUND are copying our way you are mad. if anything financial restrictions have meant that we are copying their model of buying 'good, exciting young players' (also out of contract or near players).
I'm glad that you're excited but don't get carried away?!

Good luck with your future zeddicus, I don't see how you can emulate the future (do you understand what emulate means, basically copy) so you would struggle to copy your future. you could however emulate/copy your past but you don't want to do that so you are a bit stuck. I am not one of these wh harps on about the past but if I did want to emulate something your history is EXACTLY what I would be trying to emulate trying to make Liverpool the force you once were . and hey, I think things may be on the turnfor you guys. good luck

Your all speaking tosh. what's important is that we are in the running to sign the same players as champs league runners up, obviously top class players. And we did make the decision to go for Micky over Erikksen before the others so perhaps Z meant that with emulation.

hi eds don't know if this been explained yet but it seems as u said HM seems likely to come to us or Dortmund is there a lot of complications with regards to the transfer ie is he part owned by someone else like tevez and mascherano were just wandered as if we have made a bid that been excepted and his manager saying he making a mistake that pretty much says he decided to leave shaktar just wandered what the hold up is just wish we could get it done and dusted as i'm sure we all do hence why I ask is there any major issues holding it up cheers {Ed002's Note - There is no complication - there is a fee and if Liverpool wish to pay it I am sure the move will go ahead.}

Couple of Journalists are saying he's owned by 3 different people which is complicating matters/slowing it down.
Is that a load of tosh? Is it common practice for players to have more than one agent?
Or is the only hold up the amount we're willing to pay as you say? {Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation - I don't see any reason to keep repeating matters.}

Shahktar donestk have already signed 3 young brazilians already this summer directly from brazil in fernando(cm/cdm-8-10m euro) Wellington nem(no 10., rw/lw- 10-12m euro) and Fred(centre attacking midfield- 15m euro) so my question is how is it that shakthar seem to find it a lot easier than, let's say English clubs to recieve work permits for these players as they have continually bought from brazil for years, thx in advance eds, fantastic work
Aidy in ireland {Ed002's Note - Fernando would probably have been able to get a Work Permit for the UK and had been the subject of interest from an English side in addition to Kashiwa Reysol, Spartak Moscow, Aalborg Boldspilklub, CSKA Moscow and Rubin Kazan. Wellington Nem is another that an English side had been linked with but Fred might well have struggled to get a work permit. Regardless, the employment rules vary from country to country and it is easier in the Ukraine to process the paperwork.}

Hi Ed.
How on Earth do you know about Aalborg BK's interest in Fernando? It sounds absolutely out of this world to me. It is a very cash-stripped club who were forced to sell their topscorer to Aston Villa for almost nothing.
I know it is not Liverpool-related. Just curious :) Thanks!
Danish LFC. {Ed002's Note - Aalborg made an offer to take the player on loan when he was not getting Campeonato games. It was contact through a previous agent that had been involvced in a previous transaction for a Brazilian player who moved to Aalborg.}

Have to have played a certain percentage of international matches over the last year or two. Or you'd have to be deemed an exceptional talent. Interest from other clubs in the buying country would help.
Agree2
Disagree3
03 Jul 2013 11:21:53
Having read the rules, it's clear that Muriel does not qualify based solely on the basic criteria - i.e. having played more than 75% of competitive games for his country in the preceeding 2 years.
However, I would've thought that there may be cause for him to have a chance of qualification based on his potential (see the section on 'Panels' towards the end of the article). However, that would be quite a gamble to take!

Hey eds, not specifically Liverpool related but what is the situation regarding mathieu valbuena? He seems to have been performing to a high level for a numbers of years now, culminating in continuous call-ups to the national side but never really heard of any possible moves or interest. I've been told by a source (not my normal source) that mk was almost complete as of earlier on today as we made a bid very close to there valuation. Donetsk reviewed this offer and have yet got back to Liverpool or my contact hasn't found out if they have got back yet. He believes they will accept the offer on the table but feels they will use tmro to try 1 last time to try and get another team to bid that little bit higher therefore starting a bidding war, but we have firmly said to Donetsk there is a offer in the region of 22mil he believes to be the sum and its a take it or leave it offer as Liverpool feel they are starting to take the mikky if you exuse a pun!

now he is a world beater worth 30 million euros and if rhe board don't sign him they are worthless and have no desire to take us to the next level.

I can't see them spending 25 on one player when they are buying players for 8 and 9 million. Plus do we really need him, ok he has had a good season in a sub-par league, but that's it. I've seen youtube footage of him and I have to say i'm not that impressed.(I know youtube isn't the best for judging players). All I saw was a kick and chase merchant, who gets bullied by Ramerez of cheslky and can't ride a tackle. A 25 million player he is not.

I forgot to add that mikky isn't a direct replacement for Suarez but more along the lines of Brendan feeling we can get 5 or six players that can score goals from attacking mid then the pressure on sturridge won't be so bad and the goals will level out, I believe he feels Mikkys, albertos, aspas goals from just in behind sturridge will be enough to replace suarezes goals with goals and creation for sturridge to thrive on! Sorry about the bad grammar guys I'm on my phone on a train and my gangly fingers can never find the right buttons.

The fact that "most people" have not heard of MK 6 weeks ago maybe a result of most people not watching many different leagues other than English, Spanish, Italian and 2 or 3 more.
