The Ox is a done deal.

Believable3 Unbelievable32

02 May 2017 23:43:31
Said this a couple of weeks ago. He's been spotted in Merseyside looking for a house too.

Agree3 Disagree22

03 May 2017 00:20:04
Seen him buying the Echo.

Agree4 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - I seen John Revolting in Merseyside looking for a house....

03 May 2017 08:42:39
Any truth to this ed?

Cheers.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - no, there is no 'done deal' for the Ox with anyone.}

03 May 2017 08:54:15
Cheers ed,

Do you think we'll try too bring him in this summer?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - I don't honestly know, Klopp likes him but not many others at the club think signing him is a good idea. I really hope we are not going to go down that route, but it is too early to say right now as there are lots of options on the table that have yet to be whittled down and won't be until we know whether or not we have Champions League next season.}

03 May 2017 09:14:23
Cheers for update ed. So there is at least some level of interest there. Not sure were he would play tbh though.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Klopp likes his versatility, he could cover midfield and wide forward position.}

03 May 2017 09:15:34
Cheers ed.

I think if we win against Southampton this Sunday, and Arsenal and United draw, I think it's pretty much a certainty that we'll qualify for the CL.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - nothing is ever certain in football, other than Barca and Real Madrid get all the decisions their way.....}

03 May 2017 09:16:28
If Koop likes him then that's good enough. Maybe he thinks he can turn his potential into actual ability. I think he would be a good signing.

Agree7 Disagree4

03 May 2017 09:23:08
Indeed. I shouldn't jinx it, but this weekends results was huge for us.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it was still only three points.}

03 May 2017 09:28:01
It was indeed, but The Mancs drawing put it all in our own hands.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - means nothing if we drop the ball....}

03 May 2017 09:41:43
At least we have the ball to drop again!

Agree9 Disagree0

03 May 2017 09:48:36
I know a number of people don't like or understand this signing but I think it adds up. A few years back he was really highly rated and I remember watching him be Englands best player in a couple of games prior to the World Cup. Since then he has stagnated but then so have a number of the Arsenal players.

I also think that maybe Klopp is thinking about converting him to a full back position much in the same way that Man Utd have done with Valencia because as strong as Clyde is defensively he tends to get a lot of ball against the teams that pack out their defence.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 May 2017 09:50:32
James Milner version 2.0. Another jack of all trades and spade of none!

Agree3 Disagree8

03 May 2017 10:03:01
Robbie

That's a disaster. He played a wing back against Spurs and both Davies and Son tore in a new trouser! Y don't we buy a full back instead. What's the pleasure you find playing someone out of their position? What would he add up to the team? How is he any better than Can or Grujic?
He possess 0 skills to play in the midfield ofcourse he RUNS like Horse or Sissokho!

Agree8 Disagree3

03 May 2017 10:27:48
Ed, if the Ox did arrive, do you think he would be a good signing and do you think Klopp can improve him like he has done with others mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not really. He has far too many injury problems for me to see him as anything other than a massive risk, especially as he is on a large wage, and is looking for a pay rise. Personally I expect him to stay at Arsenal and get a new contract and all the talk is just his agent trying to ensure they get the best deal by talking up the interest, as there has been no signs of us actually acting on it.}

03 May 2017 11:18:26
We should put an ox in goal.
It would definitely not get BULLY'd on crosses.

Agree3 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - groan.}

03 May 2017 12:41:21
what brand were the trousers they tore him harry?

Agree3 Disagree0

03 May 2017 16:36:51
other than being available during the ANC (providing not injured) not entirely sure what he solves that a better player, e. g. Brandt wouldn't solve to a higher standard.

Agree1 Disagree1

03 May 2017 20:42:47
UefaLona - I get no pleasure out of playing him full back. my point is when we play against some of the teams that park the bus i feel that we could do with full backs who can beat a man get to the byline and cross from a position much further up the pitch. We don't struggle against the top teams and have no problem with Clyne in those games.

Agree0 Disagree2

04 May 2017 00:12:11
Robbie

Correct. In that case let's buy an actual full back who can beat his man!

Agree1 Disagree1

03 May 2017 23:37:52
Ed001, not criticising but curious as to your comment regarding the ox's injury record being a massive risk in signing him. By that logic Don't you think this is maybe why we should let Sturridge move on this summer? Don't get me wrong I don't want us to sign the ox and I still think Danny is our best striker and would love nothing more than to see him have an injury free run in the team but I just can't see it ever happening. if their not fit then what's the point right?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - we do not need to spend millions of pounds to sign Sturridge. Hardly the same thing.}

04 May 2017 08:47:05
People said this about Studge and Couts prior to us signing them and they have become two of our most important players of the last few years (injuries aside) . I think Ox would be a good signing and it would be nice to sign liverpool fans who actually want to play for us for a change. people forget his age and forget he is probably one of the best english prospects right now besides kane and alli who was also a liverpool fan that nobody wanted to sign because he was in the championship and most here wanted Will Hughes instead. my rule of thumb is if nobody here wants us to sign him they will probably turn out a worldy. if everyone here does want them they will probably be a flop.

Agree0 Disagree4

04 May 2017 14:47:59
"Another jack of all trades and spade of none".
That's a new one on me, what does it mean?

Agree1 Disagree0

04 May 2017 19:06:38
Where has the thing of him being a Liverpool fan come from? I know Walcott is but is Ox or are people just getting confused?

Agree0 Disagree3

02 May 2017 23:17:02
Rumour of Cesc Fabregas being linked to Liverpool . First I've heard of it but personally think the lad is class. Any insight Eds?

Believable3 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool regrding Fabregas but he is a very good and experienced player and he would likely be open to an offer from an English side. Chelsea are willing to let him move on this summer and have a replacement who they have been working on and are hopeful they can agree the transfer of. Milan has spoken to Chelsea about three Chelsea players but that list is down to two and Fabregas is one. On the other side of the coin, Fabregas is only marginally quicker than me and typically that is not the sort of player Klipperty looks to. What he would bring is a great deal of experience and the ability turn panic in to thoughtful football.}

03 May 2017 07:17:24
Clickbait.

Agree5 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - even if Fabregas was good enough he would be the most unsuited player to our system imaginable. Lazy player and a lazy link.}

03 May 2017 07:50:19
I understand where you're both coming from Eds in that he's not the typical player he looks to but he wouldn't be a million miles off what Gotze was for Klopp back at Dortmund and at that time Gotze made that team tick.

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - except Goetze was a good player, Fabregas is one of the most overrated in the current game. One good pass a game is seemingly now enough to have a player raved about.}

03 May 2017 09:19:04
Would be good against the 'lesser' teams when we need to be more patient. Don't think he would suit our system against the rest of the top 6.

Agree1 Disagree2

03 May 2017 09:34:47
Personally I would love Fabregas.

Agree4 Disagree7

03 May 2017 09:43:37
Fabregas is an excellent passer of the ball. He is third in assist table only starting just 11 games this season. He doesn't run hence he wouldn't interest Klopp.

Agree6 Disagree1

03 May 2017 16:39:08
Can we call the 'every player is signing for Liverpool' season now officially open?

Agree2 Disagree0

04 May 2017 08:54:47
Great analysis Ed. the things players are credited for these days should be standard procedure. being able to have 97% pass completion rate when all you do is make the obvious 5 yard pass is not exactly mind blowing. would rather have someone with a lesser passing percentage that was more adventurous. also ozil was top assists in Europe prior to signing for Arsenal. would anyone here still want to sign him lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 May 2017 19:42:23
Hi Ed002 what's the plan for Andre Wisdom next season? Is anyone showing and interest or are Salzburg keen to keep him? Assuming he has no future at Liverpool. Read a report Liverpool are looking to get up to £6 million for him which is putting Salzburg off.
Also, Salzburg and Leipzig are both owned by Red Bull with Leipzig basically using Sazburg as a feeder club so could wisdom be involved in a deal for Naby Keita do you reckon?
Thanks for your time, have a good week.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - RBS has not shown any interest in a permanent deal. Derby and Nottingham Forest may provide options.}

02 May 2017 19:54:16
Ok thanks. Derby makes sense I suppose. Had a good season there with Steve Mcclaren a few years back.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 May 2017 00:13:26
Youre assuming Steve McClaren will still be there by the time the transfer window is open😏.

Agree1 Disagree1

03 May 2017 16:40:34
Big drop from international age group captain to hoping for an average Championship side to be interested, for me he's one who should have developed further.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 May 2017 17:44:05
A question for the eds if I may. I have heard that we are very interested in a young winger from Metz named Sarr. Can you confirm this? Any info will be apprected.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There is only one club keen on Ismaila Sarr but Metz are not looking to sell. He would never get a work permit for England at this time.}

02 May 2017 18:33:47
Thanks for the quick reply.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

02 May 2017 17:14:33
Ed002. Just wanted your opinion please mate on the Striker situation. Ed001 has said that he understand Studge may well stay beyond this season is he wishes to. In this instance would you still expect another Striker to arrive? We would have 4 including Ings already?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been looking at forwards and it would be with a view to replacing Sturridge. If he stays I would doubt that they would simply add another unless it was a youngster such as Brereton who is of interest.}

02 May 2017 19:36:46
I hope you're off the mark there Ed. It's blindingly obvious we are lacking depth up front and should one or two of the front three get injured we only have one out and out striker in Origi and he just isn't good enough yet to take us to the next level. I'd keep Sturridge and add one more. Studge had a great cameo yesterday and showed more threat in his 10 mins than Origi did all game. Unfortunately we won't get more than half a season from him at best so another striker is an absolute necessity.

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are like all sides constrained by squad size and you cannot keep adding players. With Mane fit Firmino has played as a central forward. If Brandt were to arrive to replace Coutinho he can also play there. Ings will be available, a replacement for Sturridge and Origi - plus the youngsters and Liverpool have plenty of options.}

02 May 2017 20:12:01
Let's hope then that Woodburn steps up next season and does what Rashford has for Man Utd.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 May 2017 20:45:18
Brandt will not replace couts I'm sure of that, wise up.

Agree6 Disagree1

02 May 2017 20:01:59
Brandt to replace coutinho ed 😂😂😂😂. Please don't say that.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 May 2017 02:45:33
I'm pretty sure if we're going for a player like Brandt he is as a replacement for coutinho. I don't want to believe it but I think that's why we're interested in someone for the LW. Coutinho won't be dropped deeper in the midfield role, so it only spells one thing. If he goes I can see us bringing in two maybe even three forwards but if he stays I think we will only get a forward that can play centrally or outwide to replace Sturridge and potentially ings who I hope goes out on loan next season.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Klopp would like to have the option to rest, rotate and play Couts in midfield.}

03 May 2017 14:59:58
does Klopp think Coutinho's best position is where he currently plays, or back in midfield?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 May 2017 11:05:56
Eds with our interest in Sessengon and Peirea as explained, who out of our full backs is most at risk of loosing there slot next season? I think Milner has done ok to a point. Clyne has a lot of the ball but doesn't do much with it. Just wanted your thoughts on what you think Klopp is looking to do?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I would not expect to see Sessegnon playing for the first team next season. Ricardo Pereira is a versatile full back who can play on either side and is having a good season on loan at Nice - but I am not so sure you will see him at Liverpool next season. It is clear that Liverpool's interest is in replacing Moreno at left back, and there has been interest shown in a number of players.}

02 May 2017 11:33:19
Cheers for reply mate. Makes sense as we also have TAA to compete with Clyne for the RB slot. Milner perhaps becomes a squad player I guess?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - That seems reasonable.}

02 May 2017 11:51:50
Is it looking likely that we'll be able too lure Sessegnon to the club?

Cheers.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

02 May 2017 12:56:29
Scouserseb, its been explained that there remains at least 2 people at Fulham that are not keen on doing business with Lfc. On top of that he may well be better suited staying at Fulham especially if they get promoted to the prem.

Agree3 Disagree0

02 May 2017 13:42:17
Thanks Firmino, I've read that he's a Liverpool fan though?

Agree1 Disagree0

02 May 2017 13:49:27
Last time I went for at stroll on the search engine, to find some news on Sessegnon, I found that the possibility of us getting the lad, was looking more and more unlikely, as Fulham is of no interest of doing buisness with us nomore. But now you state that we might be in for him anyway, or am I reading to much into this? Would love to see him join us.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are very, very keen on him as I have explained - the Sharkopod tells that story. Against a move this summer is the fact he is a kiddie who is limited in the amount of time he is allowed to train each week and who must attend school. Also making it difficult are a couple of people at Fulham who would rather not do business with Liverpool due to a previous problem. There is also a lot of interest from elsewhere - where one club are proposing two players, some cash and a two year loan back for him.}

02 May 2017 17:42:00
Hey eds previous problem was with C. Dempsey I suppose?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, the tapping up.}

02 May 2017 18:38:02
Tappa Tappa Tappa!

Agree0 Disagree0

02 May 2017 20:11:34
Surely if the lad wants to leave, a couple of people with grudges won't stand in the way? Seems a tad selfish to hold back a young player's wishes, maybe even his future, over some issues you've had in the past.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The most disruptive thing for his career would be a move to Liverpool this summer. Staying at Fulham would by far the best. Calling them grudges is ridiculous given Liverpool's dreadful behavior.}

03 May 2017 09:35:45
would the fact that Ian Ayre is gone and our new sporting director's role in negotiations perhaps alleviate the attitude some Fulham reps hold towards Liverpool?

Agree2 Disagree0

03 May 2017 18:41:54
I don't agree, Ed. I'm no expert on youth development, so I won't say what's wrong or right for him. That's down to him and his advisors.

My point is that if a young player wants to leave to further his career, it's wrong that a few people should stand in his way because they are unhappy about something that happened years ago that has nothing to do with the young player currently in question.

It's not constructive but more importantly, it's unfair on the lad if he wants to leave.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea why you are objecting or disagreeing with what I said. The player doesn't want to leave. The player needs to finish his education and cannot train full time. The player wants to be at Fulham. The people at Fulham have seen Liverpool abuse the rules and then have sat back whilst two directors of Liverpool dragged a trail of slime behind them when they apologised for tapping a player up. Liverpool have recently been banned for further indescretions, and Liverpool are now being sued for completely derailing the career of a youngster.

And you think this is all OK? And by the way, last season Liverpool faced more charges and were punished more often thena any other team in Europe. They also recieved two further letters of warning regarding tapping up from clubs in Germany, and and had an ex-captain admit tapping up players on behalf of the club.}

02 May 2017 08:43:27
Hi Eds, BBC Sport reporting, via Spanish site, that we are resigned to losing Couts. Is that really the feeling at the club, or is it just press speculation?

Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - the club are not resigned to it, no.}

02 May 2017 09:08:05
Hi edd001,
If you had to say? Do you think Phil will leave in summer. Also what positions do you see us bringing in and players we will try to ship out, I understand if you'd prefer not to answer if your busy.
Thanks to you and all the edd's for your hard work anyhow.
Pete.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I can't say because it mainly depends on us qualifying for the Champions League.

Positions are the same ones I keep saying, fullbacks and left wing/forward.

Outs will be some of the kids that haven't got through. Stewart is likely to go and probably Lucas, Randall, Moreno. Also Ojo and Sturridge have uncertain futures, though Sturridge is only likely to go because of his big wages and injury history. The club are not looking to push Sturridge out, it is just they will listen to offers.}

02 May 2017 09:52:42
Thanks edd.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

02 May 2017 10:18:02
Ed, is the situation with Sturridge purely to do with finances and injury? I realize it is only a short period now, but is there a window for Sturridge to sway the club to keep him?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he can choose to stay if he wants to.}

02 May 2017 10:32:40
But if he chooses to stay ed won't that hamper us bringing in another forward?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no, we are looking for a left winger really, who can also cover forward.}

02 May 2017 10:58:20
Brandt as an example. So Studge could have a futre with us after all.

Agree3 Disagree0

02 May 2017 11:32:21
Hi Ed001, is Lucas a very strong possibility to leave, or is there a growing likelihood he will stay on a new contract.

I've liked him for a number of years and I still feel he has a lot to offer as a DM, especially with more games next year and the ongoing problems Hendo is having. I liked the balance to the Can/ Lucas/ Wiji midfield we've had in the last few games.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - impossible to say as it is his personal choice.}

02 May 2017 11:52:31
Do you know if Studg is keen too stay?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I believe so. Though the right offer might tempt him to go.}

02 May 2017 12:09:52
Thanks Ed001.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome Zed.}

02 May 2017 12:46:11
I think for Lucas that game time on the pitch would be a factor for him on whether he stays or not.

given his age and that he is coming towards the back end of his career.

Even If Sturridge was fully fit I don't think he would be Klopp's first choice striker.
Whether he would be content on the bench being used as an impact player?

It could benefit the club and player as hopefully we have champions league football to look forward to.
A couple of decent cameos from Sturridge and one of the big boys could come calling.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 May 2017 13:32:55
All in all when studge is fit he is easily our best striker. A half fit studge yesterday nearly secured it.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 May 2017 13:42:51
Thanks ed lad! Much appreciated!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - everything Sturridge has said and done has suggested he wants to stay. The problem is that he has yet to see any genuine offers down on the table to tempt him, so it could all change if the right one comes along.}

02 May 2017 14:28:07
That is of course true.

Would you want him too stay ed?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

02 May 2017 14:45:09
Lemar please. Quality 50 mil. That'll do for the summer.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 May 2017 15:49:06
I would love studge to smash a couple of goals before end of season. Then have an awesome preseason and not get injured once next year and with out doubt if that were to happen then he would smash 20 goals easy is this possible I hope so cause a fit studge is unplayable.

Agree4 Disagree1

02 May 2017 16:21:29
Thanks mate.

Me too, he genuinely seems too be a nice lad who just wants too play footy. I feel sorry for him as he's quality when he plays.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - on a good day he is completely unstoppable and he is not one of these knobheads who throw their money about and live it up when they should be professional. It is such a shame he has suffered the injury problems he has.}

02 May 2017 16:27:41
Purely due to his injury record he may not get an offer that suits I would have thought. Can't see him taking a step up from us, especially if we can the offer champs league. He's too good for some of the clubs you hear about, hope the lad gets some luck and opts to stay with us too.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 May 2017 16:30:27
Agreed.

It doesn't look like he's living the high life with all the booze and stuff. Also looks like he values family highly.

Wouldn't mind if he stays, especially if he enjoys being at the club.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he doesn't drink as far as I know.}

02 May 2017 18:10:45
has he always had these injury problems, or did city and Chelsea have other reasons to let him go.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he had niggles and time out, he chose to leave both clubs, rather than being let go.}

02 May 2017 21:10:57
Ed i've been thinking about this situation, Surely he will leave as its clear Klopp doesn't like playing him. Also he is quite fixed in his posistions and doesn't seem mobile enough to suit the system Klopp trys to set up with. Do you know Klopps thoughts on him? He must be on high wages so why would we keep a player with his injury record and wages who isn't first choice and will likely be behind Origi Ings and Firmino?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am sorry, why do you think Klopp doesn't like playing him? Fixed in his positions? Are we still talking about Sturridge here?}
