Ed, I just read the Arsenal Insider site. They said that Walcott was signed sealed and delivered. Only Kenny got the axe. Do you know if there was/is any truth in this mate?

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - I have not heard of any interest in Walcott from anyone. He certainly isn't the type of player our scouts would have recommended, his touch is not good enough. I find it difficult to believe, but you never know, Kenny has his own ideas about things.}

Kuyt's touch vs Walcott's touch. {Ed001's Note - hardly a comparison. We bought Kuyt years ago, in a different era. The scouting has been overhauled since then.}

Read this rumour to on some arsenal web page. would be a good signing and rogers could be the man to make him the better player he can be {Ed016's Note - Oh god, Walcott can't cross his fingers never mind a football.}

On the contrary Ed, i think it's a very good comparison.

They both play in the same position (wide right).

They both have terrible first touches.

They both do not score enough goals and are criticised for it.

They both signed for their clubs in 2006.

They were both bought as strikers. (Walcott being dubbed the English Henry and not from Henry's Juventus days either).

They both have dodgy deliveries into the box.

They have both represented their Countries and both have made their national squads for the up coming Euro's.

They were even both at fishing port towns (Southampton and Feyenoord respectively), before making their moves to the Premier League, in fact the similarities are in an abundance.

Plenty of comparisons, as for the then coaching staff etc, eH. It's been a new era 3 times in 3 seasons since Rafa left.

Our brand spanking new manager, Mr Brendan Rodgers might actually rate Kuyt very highly and in that scenario, the era's of yesteryear and today would be somewhat irrelevant, as Kuyt and his dodgy touch would be in the first team regularly, regardless of the scouting network preferences and coaching philosophy being implemented.

Let's assume Rodgers has an eye on Wilfred Zaha and wants to make a bid, doesn't matter about the scouts opinions or the coaches opinions if the manager's mind is decided.

Just my opinions, not trying to be prickly or confrontational about anything. {Ed001's Note - except that Walcott is not a footballer, he is just a sprinter with football boots on. Kuyt has never been about pace, so totally different kind of player. You wouldn't compare Essien with Modric, they play in the same part of the pitch but they are totally different players, same with Kuyt and Walcott. Makes no sense to me.}

This is one i disagree with you on Eds, His touch isnt great nad he does waste quite a lot, especially when crossing but if you have a goal mouth striker, or someone like a van P who has great position then i think Walcott would be a great buy

But downing's, Henderson's, Adam's and Carroll's touch is good enough? Eds?

hi edds
whats the likely hood Sigurdsson will sign for liverpool and maybe scott sinclaire {Ed001's Note - impossible to say yet.}

Sinclair may be, but i think sigurdsson has already signed for swansea. i may be wrong though.

Would love to see Sigurdsson in and adam out. An immediate impovement. {Ed001's Note - you would keep Spearing over Adam? I like Spearing, he is a nice, local lad, but is he really good enough to keep?}

30 May 2012 22:23:58
Hi eds do you think Brendan Rodgers will be showen a list of players that we had inmind before kenny got sacked like dembele. If so do you know of any. Cheers Jodie sewell. {Ed001's Note - of course he will sit down with the scouts and go through their dossiers. Luuk De Jong, Gaston Ramirez, Rasmus Elm, Boudabouz, that's off the top of my head.}

Cheers ed

I think all them players have been seriously looked at , i watch alot of ball from european league's an all of them in my opinion would suit prem league havin seen enough of elm tho good touch an shot but seemed lazy off ball when seen em for u21s . the best managers buy players that fit there system but rodgers never worked with world class players as a manager an before someone says it suarez an ste g get in any team barca , real m , byern , bolton etc . good luck bren from an irish red ynwa

Attacking/Central Midfield :
Moussa Dembele, Rasmus Elm.

Wingers, Right/Left :
Gaston Ramirez, Ryad Boudebouz.

Striker :
Luuk De Jong.

That would be an amazing haul, as they are all young and very good with the potential to get even better, or move up a level and take to the Prem.

Brendan Rodgers would be smiling all season long with that squad. Hopefully we can move Aquilani, Cole, Kuyt and Maxi on and free up some of the wage bill for some younger players ready to make their mark at Liverpool F.C.

Also i'm looking forward to see how Rodgers implements Carroll, Gerrard, Henderson.

We need another lucas leiva as well

Soldado Munian and susaeta too

30 May 2012 21:53:11
Ed would Affelay really be available for as little as £6m?
Thanks {Ed022's Note - Slightly more.}

I think we need to take a chance on him forsure. Especially if he passes a medical. To me it would be a no brainer {Ed001's Note - why would it? He has suffered numerous injuries, it would be a big chance to pay out money on him.}

Nah it iw quoted from spanish press 6 mil is the price

How many chances do we take with players,he's more chance of being another Babel,here's a noval idea wot if we just buy proven quality players for a Change

30 May 2012 21:51:03
ed022, can you make a player profile on ryad boudebouz?
{Ed022's Note - He is on the way next mate. Hopefully be up by tomorrow evening.}

Thanks, i think you do a great job on the player profiles, keep it up!

Thanks Ed, ur da best.

How about a one off 'manager profile' on rodgers please, just to let us all know what where in for? please please please

30 May 2012 21:46:53
Both have probably been mentioned before, but is there any chance in signing Ryad Boudebouz & Jackson Martinez?

Cheers {Ed022's Note - Yes for Boudebouz, no idea yet about Martinez.}

I dont care about potential signings after the appointment of brendan rodgers ive rarely been this low as a liverpool supporter of 30 years, feels like theres bn a death in the family.... gutted

30 May 2012 21:23:47
My list of players I would sign

1. Gaston Ramirez
2. Matias Suarez
3. Rasum elm
4. Any winger

What do you recon ed? Thanks {Ed002's Note - I think three of your choices are possible.}

The next question you'll be asked ed is which 3 - you ju
st wait and see ;)

I think the impossibilty would be Suarez, any winger tho? McFadden?

Damn, I knew we could never sign thank lucrative young talent Any Winger.... must cost too much.

Jolly Red

I agree Ed. I don't think 'any winger' would come to us! Haha. Decent list that! We'll see what happens! I'm confident he'll get our existing players performing if I'm honest!

Ed is that 1,2,3 or 1,3,4? {Ed001's Note - I would go with 1,3,4 personally.}

I agree with Ed 002, the first 3 seem possible but number 4 is ridiculous
Jf92

What's the one you deem as impossible?

100% Cotton

Hang on any winger? Anyone atall? There's some pretty bad wingers out there becareful wa u wish for pal

Add adam johnson or afellay to that and id be happy

Matias Suarez isn't all that in my opinion.

Affelay, Grrr.

From what i have seen of any winger he would be a great signing. Far better than Downing I am picking

30 May 2012 21:16:00
eds do you know if Ioannis Fetfatzidis could be a possible transfer. He seems to be good and tipped for great things in the future. Would Olympiacos be likely to sell him?
{Ed022's Note - No idea.}

Get off Fifa, son.

He's a bit fat for lpool mate.

30 May 2012 21:13:01
eds do you exspect rodgers to bring some players with him? also do you think he will be given funds to make the team his own and to sell players?

thanks {Ed022's Note - No he will be given no funds, no right to sell players and no right to buy players. What a stupid bloody question this is.}

Agree with you ed what a stupid question! h im very happy with rodgers i hope all the fans get behind him and give him a chance

Next you'll be asked if he's in charge of the team that's played!

Class! That only applies to the eds answer!

I don't know if it's such a stupid question. Rumors have been circulating that Rodgers will be responsible only for coaching, picking the team and not for transfer which will be a role given to the DoF! That is why this question was asked.

Just got in from work!! What the F*"!. Brendan Rodgers!! what are they thinkin! Hes had one good season, finished mid -table, with a team he mostly inherited from Martinez. Is there a single Swansea player that would get in everton's team let alone our's. To say I'm disappointed with our franchise owners is an understatment. Heaven help us next season!!

That was a bit off!

What a great answer lol

Ha ha ha...Jes Ed hit home hard!but ur right silly question, do you think however Louis Van Gall if installed as Director Of Football is a shrude move as he would be well known through out Europe to attract players as Rodgers would not be.
Red Dave {Ed022's Note - It would be a very good appointment in my opinion.}

No need to breach his human rights there ed 22 . {Ed022's Note - His right to ask stupid ass questions, yeah, don't bloody remind me.}

Owned!

To the guy who just got in from work, possibly from "understanding soccer for beginners". Rodgers team did great for the resources and considering they just got promoted. Now lets hope he can transfer his good work onto Liverpool. Why would we want to be worried about a player that gets into Everton's team?

Cheers,
Tommy

Wtf ed no need for that mate... Badly phrased but still... He was wondering if any Swansea players will come here with Rodgers and whether he will get full control over transfers or not because Van Gaal is likely to arrive as sporting director. {Ed022's Note - 'Do you think he will be given funds to make the team his own and to sell players.'}

Ed0022 - QUALITY ANSWER!!! ha ha ha ha

To the guy who said is there a single swansea player that would get into everton's team? what an person joe allen and vorm for starters! wipe your eyes out kid!

Hes only been managing in the prem for one season and he gets our job. This better work or we are well screwed for our next appointment

Pep Guardiola had never managed in the Prima Liga before he got the Barca job and Klopp had 2 years with Mainz in the Bundesliga before relegation and a mobe to Dortmund. So your point is......... Scouser Tommy

Was a bit concerned with the Rodgers appointment, but Gary Neville, of all people actually manageed to calm me down. "Could be a very shrewd appointment" he said. Too much praise from bro´tard no1 would have made me worried, a complete slating the same...Logical? No, but after that comment and some googling I´m reasonably happy. Beguiristain or van Gaal as DOF, and I´m confident we´ll have a good Silly and a decent 12/13.

30 May 2012 21:07:05
If we havea new stadium we have to except a new name

if Macca is right it will be sponsored by CHINA Air-LINES
Company calls itself CAL for short
If thats the case i'm proposing a bit of history comes with us .

New Stadium " China Air Lines Kop" Shortened as we could know it as CALKOP

Send a reply if in favour

Enjoy the days to come YNWA {Ed022's Note - I don't like that suggestion. Perhaps the C.A.L Arena. Sounds modern and high-tech haha.}

It's Air China not China Airlines so before you get carried away wait for more information!

It's a terrible idea.

New Anfield

please?

Ed22 not forgetting CAL est 1959 of course HA HA {Ed022's Note - Nicely put mate.}

I like it,we need a stamp of liverpool on it

"It's Air China not China Airlines so before you get carried away wait for more information!"
Err no it's not mate

Chris in Tamworth

Apprentice fever! Your Fired!!

I hope they sell Chinese food at the ground I love Chinese food :D

I don't like the 'Arena'. Maybe...The Anfield Coliseum, sponsored by whomever.

TSP

I thought Coca Cola were winning the bid with Air China in 2nd position.

My local pub changed name but everyone still calls it original . its younger gen that will call it air china field arena etc , if it gets 60 plus thousand in a more money happy days . we'll always be there

How about iStadium 2.0?

How about just naming it the warriors arena after the new jersey?

Could be worse. Corporate names for swedish arenas has reached ground floor level...
Kalmar FC: "Golden bird Arena" (poultry company)
AIK Solna: "Friends Arena" (bank gave naming rights to a anti-bullying organization)
Makes Reebok Stadium seem allright doesn´t it?

We should instead go for CAL - place of Liverpool, otherwise known as
CALPOL

Who actually gives a s**t ?

Hey Ed/s, second time posting today, sorry.

Preferably a Liverpool fan to answer on their opinion on Afellay. 6m but I hear he's very injury prone and would he move to Liverpool? Would you pay 6m for him if you were manager?
I haven't followed him so much so would be good to get an unbiased, honest opinion on him!

Thanks for any response, Ell. {Ed022's Note - www.player-profiles.co.uk - there is a Player-Profile on Affelay on there for you.}

Yer i would go for him although got injured start of this season with barca previous to that he was class

Quality player better than other winger we have at the minute and for £6mill he would be worth the risk even with his injury record

Great technical skill and vision. Pretty sure I read stories of an attitude but this was when much-younger, so not necessarily the case now. If medically he doesn't appear to have any major long-term issues, 6m would be worth a shout.

30 May 2012 21:04:50
My realistic dream transfers:

A.Johnson- 10m
Moussaka Sissoko- 12m
O.Giroud-20m
Diame- Free
M.Krasic- 12m
M.Mussachio-8m
O.Wendt-5m

total- 63m

Sell:

F.Aurelio- Free
N.Eccleston 1m
Amoo- Free
M. Rodriguez- 3m
D.Kuyt-4m
Spearing- 2m
A.Aqualani-6m
J.Cole-3m

Total- 19m Net-48m

Surely the owners can spare that?your thoughts eds?

Stevie_D

Surely we should try and buy Lewandowski from Dortmund instead of Giroud. Seems like the perfect fit, a goal poacher who could convert our misses and rebounds of the post.

Jolly Red

Try doing the math again mate

Why on earth do you want Wendt?

He isn't good enough to play in moegengladbach or even the Swedish National team..

A useless player.

Please reconsider.

Cheerio

Diame is not coming to Liverpool and the rest of those players apart from Johnson and maybe Giroud and Krasic are average IMO ...Kuyt would move on a free also.
And you've done the math wrong...

Who the hell is Moussaka Sissoko?? Is he a greek version of Moussa?

Realistic dream transfer? surely thats contradictory in terms...

Oscar Wendt...although I would love to se a swede at Anfield...Wendt is complete utter toss. Martin Olsson without speed and, actually, worse crossing, worse defending...Please...

£44 million nett. And yes, who hasn't got £44 million spare just lying about doing nothing...............i keep at least that much under my bed! Are you actually for real?

Musacchio would cost a lot more than 8million

30 May 2012 21:04:35
Evening eds and fellow reds , do you see fsg putting big money forward in this window or add a couple of players then add to it in jan /summer 2013.just think kenny had £100 million but used it in one hit BR might be more careful . Do you see joe cole playing for us now next season . Cheers psv {Ed002's Note - I would not expect significant spending. I expect Joe Cole to move on.}

30 May 2012 21:01:51
could we maybe see carroll sold this summer eds? not saying i would be happy with it but if we get rogers he likes to play the short passing

Cheers JJ {Ed002's Note - I would suspect not entirely out of the question.}

Danny Graham is a target man type isn't he?

Papa G

Really hope not Carroll is turning into a quality player

What Papa G said, Andy Carroll is the same as Danny Graham but better, and Graham got played week in week out at Swansea

Rodgers will keep him as his style of football does utilise a Target man. Reason why Barca forked out millions for Ibra because a target man (With good control and finishing) is a valuable asset.

30 May 2012 20:49:49
Now Rodger has been appointed joe Allen and Scott Sinclair following this summer to add some much needed pace to the team.

Allen yes Sinclair no

Danny Graham would be a good squad addition too

Joe Allen...Pace?

Allen an dyer would be better
paul d

30 May 2012 20:49:25
players id like to see at liverpool are, adam johnson, gaston ramirez and matias suarez

I'd like to see
Joe Allen
Adam Johnson
Ibrahim Affelay
Clint Dempsey
Scott Dann

Matias suarez
adam johnson
joe allan
clyne
gaston

30 May 2012 20:43:53
He Eds keep up the good work

When does the transfer window open & close?
{Ed002's Note - July 1 to August 31 for intra European transfers.}

30 May 2012 20:35:43
no rumours here, just opinion. four players i'd love to see and could realistically get and challege for top four with
boudebouz
adam johnson
luk de jong
elm

in addition to our young talent like suso and sterling and pacheco i think we could be set for next year.

two on my wish my wish list:
cavani
m'villa

glad to see rodgers coming to liverpool. after his statement that he "wants to rid the world of long ball football" and is focused on a passing and possession game, i was sold.

YNWA

Only Adam Johnson is a decent choice

My thoughts exactly, if he can make Swansea play like Barca imagine what he'l be able to do with Liverpool, but I do hope we don't turn out to be an Arsenal.

Probably agree...'but' ... Is he going to attract big players NO. Is he a manager who will get Liverpool into Champion League place next season NO. Will he command respect at 39 when he hasnt achieved much NO. I hope you like his style of play cus I'm not sure your ready for what realistically will be achieved 6/7th place at best will be a good result

Funny to see that everyone wants boudebouz but haven't even seen a game where he played, he is average and not liverpool quality, stop judging players from youtube !

I must say Rodgers has gone up in my estimation as well, done a lot of reading about him the last few weeks and he seams just what we need, really switched on, leant different cultures football and training Ideas, tactically astute and all round nice guy. I welcome him to Liverpool fc and hope he does well ynwa Brendan

Loafmaster flex

I think it's a good appointment, people need to realise that just because someone hasn't been successful, doesn't mean they never will!

All great managers start from somewhere take fergie for instance aberdeen-man utd now one of the most successful managers in the world

Wont get top 4 mate. dont just hop up from 8th like that. itll be like 5 years if we actually get back. city united chelsea will be up there all the time, now we have to get the better of tottenham arsenal and maybe newcastle. wont happen any time soon with the mess rodgers has to sort out.

Wat do you mean not turn out like arsenal?you mean the team that has actually won the premier league on numerous occasions and has qualified for the CL for the past 15 seasons?wens the last time liverpool qualified for the CL?never mind the leauge thats to far back for most ppl to rememeber OH YOU MIGHTY REDS HA

Rodgers will make us play soccer that will tune heads next season. He will bring in 3 players who are Joe Allen, Sinclair and Gylfi along with Elm so that we can ship out Adam. Joe Allen is Stevie natural successor. Gylfi and Elm are both similAr but will give great depth and we can move out Adam and Spearing and Aquilani and Cole....

30 May 2012 20:00:26
Any interest in Maxi Moralez ed?

Thanks

Zero {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Who the hell is this guy? {Ed001's Note - there is a thing called Google, you could look him up!}

30 May 2012 19:55:38
Now we can move onto transfers finally. For me I'm hoping we aquire the following (one or two long shots admitted).

1. Affelay. Can be bought for as little as 6 million. Great young player who is available if can be convinced. Appointing Van Gaal would be a bonus here.

2.Lavezzi. Massive long shot but a great player who's at a club also without CL football currently. If there is anyone we break the bank for I hope it's him.

3. Defour. Classy centre mid, Belgium international for years but still young. Think he could be bought for a fee of say 10-12 million. Future world star for me.

4. Elm. The more I see of this player the more I like him. Has a touch of Xabi about his play and would be excellent in the centre midfield role. He would not cost a fee in the region of 15-20, so for me is a must at about 10-12.

If we're really lucky they might take Adam in the deal. Joking.....

5. Ocampos. Very direct, strong and fast right winger. Still young but tipped for big things. He's got bags of skill and would be great in the prem. sticking point would be his fee of roughly 25-30 million. Fee maybe too high to risk on a youngster from S. America.

6. Vertonghen. I only included him as a replacement for either of Agger or Skrtle leaving (which I don't want to happen). Great centre half who is being looked at by spurs but still think we could persuade him with having a former team mate at Anfield. Roughly cost 10-12 million.

7. Munian. Brilliant prospect we've all seen him for Bilboa, and we all think he'd be a good buy. We sadly lack width and creativity and with Munian and the above wide men we would certainly have strength in depth.

Again the fee would be high (roughly 20-25 million) but I do hope we pull this one off.

I obviously know we won't get all these mainly due to fees and no CL but a combination of the above is viable.

Jonesred

Before we sign anyone we need a big clear out of players. Maxi, Kuyt and Adam can all go for a start. Possibly a few more. Lets hope the new manager makes a clear out his priority then we can sign some players worthy of playing for LFC.

Wow wow slow down mate, Rodgers aint even sat down yet and he will have his own targets of which may mean that we wont buy anyone just yet cause he will want to look at what we have in the squad and youth

liverbird09

Who do you think we are? Real Madrid? 3 players in MAX

Defour won't leave Porto

You've over priced Ocampo's by £14 million

Vertonghen is off to Arsenal/Spurs

I think they'd all help our team to one degree or another apart from Vertonghen. He's alright, but given time Coates will, IMO at least, be much better.

Where's Adam Johnson? However Affelay is good choice

Vertonghen is only on there in the event we lost either Agger or Skrtle. If we did it would be Vertonghen Coates and one of the two above.

I'm aware the manager hasn't sat down yet in just looking further forward.

In regards to the Real Madrid comment I did say a combination of some of the above not all. Please read the post properly.

Jonesred

Why stop at them.
i would like messi, xavi, ronaldo, oh don`t forget falco. get in the real world lad.

Munian -your having a laugh mate,hes way to good for liverpool.both mancs and both spanish giants are intereseted in him so cant see him choosing liverpool unless hes brain dead

And why would these guys want to play for an 'unknown' manager?

30 May 2012 19:47:37
Hello Eds,
Liverpool should go for Ibra but without CL football and with his wages it will probably never happen.

Dumbest one yet

Might as well go for messi as well then with that logic

Why get ibra when we have carroll?

so dumb

Funniest part was that someone clicked believable haha

Why spend your entire budget on an over-rated ego like Ibrahimovic? He'll not enhance his reputation at the Euros.

Get it into your head liverpool can no longer sign stars of world football!!

If Suarez goes, it could work. Those two on the same team, err..no. About Ibra: you can´t say he hasn´t done great for his teams in the national leagues. Not so great in CL, but his teams (Ajax, Juve, Inter, Barca, Milan) has never finished below 2nd when Ibra played there. Not all him, but especially for Inter he was instrumental. Regardless of his ego, the guy brings it every week, all season. He´d do great in the prem, no doubt, if he wanted to come, and if we could afford him. Size, strength, vision, passing, goals...A quick fix to get at least 4th spot.

30 May 2012 19:54:11
I suppose it was written because if you rearrange Rodgers you get GO RREDS.

If you imagine Cilla Black saying it it could be 'Go 'r' reds' ('go our reds' if you dont speak scouse).

Or ROGR EDS...

Or Rogerd which we will be with that person in the dugout.

30 May 2012 19:54:08
Rodgers confirmed by swansea chairman

Believe it its job done just thee compo now

30 May 2012 19:52:40
Statement by Swansea.

"They will not stand in his way and Brendan Rodgers wants to sign for Liverpool".

Excellent Choice I think

Thanks Macca and the EDs for some great inside information

Evered

Yeah thanks you guys, because of this site we weren't in the dark as much as the other fans.

30 May 2012 19:31:51
Im hearing Dos Santos of Tottenham is Anfield bound.

Why just cos rodgers watched him a friendly against wales im hearing people putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 the players he was targeting for swansea are unlikely to be the ones he target's for lfc

Try to understand the player recruitment will be a collective decision led by the SD/DoF. Rodgers will remain as a coach.

Where dya pluck tht 1 from?you have nt heard tht any where have you?! jonny m

So was Aguero.

Hope not

My mate who is a massive Swansea fan told me yesterday that BR and Jacks Chairman Huw Jenkins were travelling to London yesterday to run the rule over Dos Santos for a potential transfer to Swansea, perhaps this is where the rumour came from? The actual journey may not have taken place for obvious reasons but it could be the source of the rumour.

To this guy; "Try to understand the player recruitment will be a collective decision led by the SD/DoF. Rodgers will remain as a coach."

The manager will have his say and everyone will listen. the manager isn't going to be completely left out of transfers in. and dos santos is a good player spurs are killing him. he is good, better than any winger we have.

30 May 2012 19:17:21
ed regarding the new stadium do you know what the capacity will be? is it max 60,000?

majestic69 {Ed022's Note - No idea.}

I think it should be at least 80,000, if not more.

Yea ed but is the planning permission for the new ground maximum capacity 60,000? {Ed002's Note - I understand it is.}

I understand the planning permission for the original stadium is for 61k. If that's still the case for the updated version then hopefully it can be expanded in the future.

Personally I loved the Allianz Arena; 66k all seater, 3
tier stands that come right up to the pitch, even at the ends. Would just change one end to have a single tier kop.

Dave

I think it will be 70,000 because only stadiums with that much capacity are allowed to host champions league final

I would of also said 70,000 its got to be worth doing/
Jaydee ynwa {Ed002's Note - Significant additional costs for going over 60k which will mean a much larger debt on the club.}

30 May 2012 19:03:00
Again i am not 100% sure on this but i believe the club are close to announcing the naming rights for the new stadium.. China Airlines..

I am not sure of the details..

Cheers

Macca
{Ed022's Note - This is the real Macca.}

So are we building a new stadium or just making Anfield larger ? Thanks

Cheers Macca
Looks like the owners have been very busy of late and conducting their buisness behind closed doors not like the last 2.
Apart from that tit Whealan the media spec would of been very quiet.
Time to give all our support to the new manager and all at the club for the new season YNWA JFT96
MJIRE

Is there any idication as to what the new stadium will be called? and are we definintley building one as this would be brilliant news for me i have been on the season ticket waiting list for at least 10 years and im still only 4576 on the list???

Thanks Macca... info always appreciated

I've seen us called mediocre, average and mid table today... call it the optimism of a new manager but I think we'll be stuffing some of those words down the throats of those neigh sayers come the next few seasons. This is something that can propel us to new heights...

Richards

Macca your hit rate with info is pretty good so if you're wrong this time then I'm sure most on this site will forgive you

Oh god...

'The China Airlines Arena'

The CA Stadium... passable... {Ed022's Note - Have to agree with you there mate.}

The word on the web a couple of weeks ago was AIR CHINA.
I hope its not China Airlines - they have a terrible safety record - over 8 planes lost in last 20 years - only 5 major airlines are rated worse for safety.

Thanks macca for keeping us updated things change in football sum times at last min wot you give us is wot you hear but even that can change we all should not forget that and question you on wot you tell us thanks again. YNWA macca kk
Lfc linc

Yes I see this on RAWK a few days ago. Red being lucky in China, and China having mega bucks could be good.
Lee73

Well it's got a ring to it... On a serios note, is that a NEW stadium? Or a refurb?

Cheers lid
Christoph

China Airlines Anfield?

CAnfield? Lol

As long as there's a good Take Away... The chow mein in Liverpool always been a bit rotten

Sorry to ask Macca but is it Defo China Airlines and not Air China?

It's just I heard it was Air China!

YNWA jns

Thanks macca you are a star! for your info!!!!!

I thought it was Air China

8 planes lost in 20 years?
how does one lose a plane? "i swear boss, i put it on the runway last night, i put the handbrake on and locked the doors, dont know where its gone"

Now our new stadium will have a banner reading "Made in China"

Live-On-Pool

Thanks macca great news

THE BIRD

Macca or Eds

Could you possibly clarify which actual airline company may have "won" the naming rights?

Air China (Chinese)
China Airlines (Taiwanese)
China Eastern Airlines (Chinese)
China Southern Airlines (Chinese)

Also agree. I understand Rushie is one of the clubs ambassadors tasked with showing the Chinese delegation around Anfield in the next few days.
ALB.

If you can read or pronounce Etihad, then China Airlines is easy. Live with it. Its a new world. ra1969

Stadium of Chinese Airlines

Much more likely to be AIR CHINA (Mainland China based) as opposed to China Airlines (Taiwan Based. This is the company, as mentioned by one poster, who managed to miss the runway at Hong Kong)

This is great. New Stadium Sponsor, a traditional "LFC" looking kit, DOF in next 48 hours, new manager in 24-48. I wouldn't be surprised to see a quick signing or two to keep the momentum going. Roll on 12/13 season :)

To clarify my post above - China Airlines lost 8 planes and 764 passengers in 20 years). Check out the flyertalk website

CA Stanley Park Stadium?

Air China Stanley Park Stadium?

So will they change the name? will i not be anfield anymore? :(

Well as long as it does not crash into the f**king stadium who cares!

I dont care what it's called as long as we get big dosh for it.

China Airlines call themselves CAL (check thier website

Will be called "THE CAL"

Macca is a legend!
Well done on Rogers mate and for me a good appointment

Greaty

Or Possiblily China Airlines Kop

The CALKOP Statium

If there airlines are that bad lets hope some of there pilots don't try landing on the pitch. Thinking its an airport

Brilliant ............

!0/1 with BetFred. Broke my heart to part with that ten bob.

DaveyBootle

A freind of mine wore a liverpool jersey that had china on the back.

Maybe it was Air China, i will try and find out more..

Cheers

Macca

The Kop will be renamed the Kop-pit ............... I'll get me coat!

I love the sound of the CALKOP Stadium. Either that or Air Anfield Arena

China Airlines Arena isn't the most appealing name, but lets be honest to ourselves and accept that the money from naming rights will be a massive boost to our finances. This is the trend of modern sport, and if we want to compete, we will have to make certain sacrifices. Dortmund have done it, Bayern have done it, even St. James Park is now Sports Direct.

...Chinafield?

Dr S.Atire. {Ed022's Note - Hahahah I love it!}

Air China Arena appeals to me....has a Ben Hur feel about it.

If its AIR CHINA
AC Anfield or AC Arena or AC Anfield Arena
F5.

Please be right Macca

i know you must trust your source if you are willing to put your neck on the line if by saying who the potential naming rights will be held by.

China Airlines
Logo; Plum Flower or Mei in Chinese

what would the stadium be nicknamed as C.A.L Arena
CAL Arena
CAL Stadium

Air China i hope, their logo is red and a lot of their plains have Red and Gold artwork

How about nameing it CALAnfield(1 word)

Cydsco

China Airlines is Taiwanese
Air China is Chinese
So which one is it?

It is all well and good being unhappy with the nae, saying it sounds naff, etc etc but the bottom line is that without naming rights we cannot afford to build a new stadium - its the modern world, about time our club became a part of it.

eds any idea if we have a dof if not whos the fav

tevez to westham {Ed022's Note - Van Gaal is now the favourite.}

Brendan rodgers spent his time in spain studying the modell of van Gaals style, i bet rodgers will be more than happy to work with LvG,

Radio 5 live said earlier that there wouldn't be a D.O.F. !
They said that LFC wanted a return to the "traditional" style of management.
ANFIELDPETE

I think reina must be sold,he cost us the FA cup,and has swallowed stupid goals.he has been at best below average.

For all you Liverpool fans wanting to know the situation with Sigurdsson......a contract was agreed 4 days ago by all sides. Only thing left was for Gylfi to sign. This has NOT been done. When he left for Germany the manager who signed him only lasted 4 months. The new manager did not fancy him so was left out in the cold. He has not signed as he knew there was a possibility Brenden was leaving......make of this what you will.....p.s this is from a UTD fan so I will personally give myself 50 lashes for looking at this site.

Lol cheers for info anyway. now get off are page (joke)

Fair play to you for even THINKING about posting on here. You must be an actual Manchester United supporter, if you get what I mean. Fair play lad, fair play....

50 make it 75 and i would feel better about it lol cheers
riley

Liverpool get a new manager and a utd fan with a sense of humour! Haha.

This is what football should be about, a competitive but friendly rivalry, thank you good sir!

It is true...............

Haha a Manc with a personality, many thanks for you post mate..lol
liverbird09

LOL - Good to see that people still have a sense of humour in this world.

Thanks for posting.

Your ok lad forget the 50 lashes, just fu--off.

Why 50 take 100.50 free for you from us after we finish above you next season haha

30 May 2012 17:57:48
Ibrahim Afellay available for £6m this summer. brilliant deal! come on liverpool. lets go get him

Ya and another 6 mil in medical bills

It would be hard to get Afellay if spurs want him because they have van der vart to attract him. but i feel if we have Luuk De Jong we can get him because we would be willing to offer more in wages than spurs.

And Macca seems to be right again with saying everyone at/around the club thought that the owners wanted Rodgers good shout.

Surely you have to ask yourself why he is available on the cheap, maybe his injury is worse than originally feared, last thing we need is another crock. Of course if he is 100% then he would be a good signing. Do any Ed's know the reason behind the sale? {Ed022's Note - Recent developments suggest he may possibly stay, but there remains interest from many teams across Europe.}

Hope we do
Adam Johnson and Affelay on wings also downing is an option

30 May 2012 17:53:46
Hi eds as the new manager looks liee a done deal lets get bac to transfers lol I'm hoping we sign

Diame
Clyne was told he is a bosman can u confirm for me ed?
Boubedez
Affellay
Griezzman
Elm or Sigurdson
De jong or Sturridge

Would love Sigurdson, Affellay and Sturridge. but I think Rodgers will have his own targets which none of us have heard of.

I highly doubt that you've ever watched Boudebouz, Griezemann, Elm or De Jong. Diame is only rumoured because of Martinez and because he is free and scored a few half-decent goals at the end of the season! Clyne is on a bosman but why would we want him when we have Kelly, Johnson and Flanagan? Afellay is so over-rated it's un-real! Just because he plays for Barcelona it doesn't automatically make him a 'bargain' at 6 million! Sturridge is one of the least productive players in the premiership along with Walcott. The only one I could agree with you on is Siggurdson, but I highly doubt that Rodgers would steal a player from Swansea!

30 May 2012 17:19:46
If I was Rodgers i'd look at:

Affellay
A.Johnson
Jarvis
Giroud
Belhanda

Also give Joe Cole and Aquilani another chance

Aquilani had his chance he's a lazy animal

Adam johnson and jarvis would be major assets

Hey eds, is Owen on a free? We need someone with experience and who can score goals and that is proved in Owen.

I would never take Owen back on a free rather have fowler than Owen

Everyone's favourite judas. I don't think any manager in their right mind would re-sign owen, he'd probably be hated as soon as the contract was signed

He is a disgrace to our club and should never return

Why would you want that money grabbing little runt ever wearing a red shirt again? Besides he would probably injure himself signing the bloody contract. No thanks. Never.

He should sign for Everton because opinion of him couldn't get much worse

Experience check........
What was your next point?

Once a manc NEVER A RED

Owen has scored less goals since he left eight years ago than Messi scored in this years La Liga

I'd welcome him back in open arms

Old, slow and injury prone NO THANKS!

Leave him where he is. Mercenary. Glad the day he left the club. Don't let him back inside the door.ever.

Are you sure?

Appreciate what he did in the past, regardless of where he is now, but still, seriously, his legs are gone, it's over.

No no no micky owen he went to the mancs he will be only coming to add to his retirement fund

30 May 2012 17:16:59
Eds,

I'm excited about Rodgers appointment, it will bring the type of play to Liverpool that we need as well as entertaining.

Do you think Joe Allen may sign for us? {Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

Why is everyone on bout Joe Allen what do people see in him?

His pass completion was better than Xavi of Barcelona wasn't it? Maybe that's what people see in him {Ed022's Note - No, that was Britton.}

My mistake, didn't pay too much attention to Swansea, maybe I should have

WHICH EDS WAS IT THAT SAID WE'LL
BE SUPRISED WHEN WE FIND OUT
WHO THE NEW MANAGER WILL BE....

AUNTIE ANNIE.................

Entertaining ? Lets look at some facts and put some myths to bed here.. swansea were only the 15th highest goalscoring team in EPL last season. Only Everton had more games featuring under 2.5 goals

As a swans fan I watch this kid play every week and he's 10 times the player hendo Adam and at current form is playing better than gerrard , I hope they don't get him future star

I'm more excited about Rodgers than Martinez. Our problem lately as fans is that we can't see past our past. We have no champions league, we are in our worst place finish for a while and a lot of great players have left. Whilst clubs like Newcastle keep finding players like Ba, Cisse, Perch, Cabaye etc, we can't see past our blinkers and keep talking about players such as Cavani, Alonso, Gomez. Last year it was Aguero, Silva, Villa. There was never any chance! I for one think we need to chill and enjoy seeing some players that may come a little from left-field whilst watching what is surely going to be more attacking football. When out defence has been strong this can only see us move up the table.

30 May 2012 17:47:28
Rodgers target at Swansea was Dos Santos saw him in Wales v Mexico Game. Maybe a Longshot we will see Reservesfc

No you didn't!! They played in that game in America.

Dave

Dave thats why rodger's has been in america it was to watch the wales mexico game that's where he came back form yesterday

30 May 2012 17:05:30
Ed002... I'd like to know your thoughts of the supposed appointment of Rodgers. Good appointment in your opinion?
Thanks
LFC-aussie {Ed002's Note - He would have been one of only a couple of EPL managers who I would have thought acceptable. He was very well liked at Chelsea.}

30 May 2012 17:25:37
With Chelsea having already signed Marin, Hazard and being close to signing Hulk, I feel Sturridge will fall in to the background, what are our chances of signing him ed? Would love him to get Cole's #10 shirt

Thanks for keeping us informed ed(s)

The Rectangle
{Ed022's Note - Hulk is only a possibility now if Hazard signs. Sturridge will be allowed to move on but it depends on Liverpools interest etc.}

ED02 has said hazard signing will not effect the Hulk deal both may well be signed.

But hazard is going to play the playmaker role, hulk is a winger that has nothing to do with the creating of attacks, i have heard he only plays well in the role he gets in porto... i think he will end up in chelsea

Sturridge is too greedy. I know we need goals but his decision making is poor

30 May 2012 17:25:31
I would love Gylfi Sigurdsson to join Rodgers at Liverpool. Has any transfer been agreed with him elsewhere please?

col

Yes ,yesterday with Swansea

I believe swansea have agreed a fee with hoffenheim don't know if the move will go through it may depend on rodgers' situation
riley

Deal and terms are agreed,but he has not signed yet..

30 May 2012 17:10:45
Hi eds/anyone in the know. With Rodgers looking to be the new manager (something that I think is a really bold and positive mood) is there any chance that we could pinch Sigurdson or is it a done deal?

Thanks

P-Ro

30 May 2012 17:08:14
So I'm guessing there's truth with the Brendan Rodgers rumours. If appointed do the Ed's think there's a chance of Joe Allen? Great composure,vision and similar to a young Xavi in my opinion. {Ed001's Note - please people, stop asking stupid questions! No one could possibly know the chances of signing a player yet! The deal to get Rodgers could include a clause precluding any player being signed from Swansea for X amount of seasons. Far too soon to know what will happen about player targets.}

Joe Allen is garbage!
Why does everyone want average players?

What is it with fans we have appointed an unproven manager now one after another people seem to want numerous swansea players, THEY ARE NO BETTER than the present squad------- rubbish appointment!!!

If you actually watched good football you'd realize that Joe Allen isn't just an average player. The kid is bright and with the proper guidance could be a big deal. Potential out the ass!

30 May 2012 16:58:52
Now we've got Rodgers ED's do you think we could sign Gylfi Sigurdsson or Joe Allen?

matt wollacott {Ed001's Note - no idea, how could anyone know that? He hasn't even got his feet under the table yet!}

I doubt Sigurdsson would come, he's just agreed a deal with Swansea!

Anglesey Red {Ed022's Note - The fee was agreed and that's it.}

People could know that.

matt wollacott

Get a life we want good players not swansea players

Yes get a life we want quality players not mid table players.

Sorry Henderson, Downing, Adam, Carroll etc are all SO good... lol clown

I despair at the idiots who write on here. Oxlade-Chamberlain played Southampton in league 1. Ramsey signed for Arsenal from Cardiff. Joe Allen is a young very talented footballer who was the best player on the park when we played Swansea at Anfield. You're the kind of person who would have questioned the signing of Rushie cos he played for Chester. Get a grip.

I totally agree with the last post! what abvout the youth that come through? gerrard never played premiership football, john barnes played for watford.......... have a word people and stop talking s**te

30 May 2012 16:46:47
Hey eds with no champions league football and rogers being fairly unknown can you see us attracting big named players or for the next few years hope we can rely on the name alone (Liverpool) to bring in big players

Great jobs eds

Ramythered {Ed002's Note - Obviously certain players will want Champions League footbal - so it will be difficult to attract some.}

We have to realize, there are no more "big" name wants to come

With the owners being as savvy as they are, I think the idea is to get the likes of Rogers and Van Gaal in so we can spot great talents instead of attracting big ones. It's a bold move, and whilst I am fully aware a Xabi Alonso or a Sami Hypia doesn't come along every summer, I would expect them to be a bit more clued up then we perhaps have been in the last couple of years in the transfer market.
Have faith fellow reds!

RedBean

From reading between the lines.

Martinez and Rodgers, both inexperienced with handling large resources. Both are somewhat lacking the years of experience many would like.

I think it's obvious that FSG want a man who can manage a club on a minimal budget.

AVB would have wanted big players and big money to spend at Liverpool.

Rodgers was settled and content on making Sigurddson his only major coup of 2012/2013, at a price of £7 million.

Call me pessimistic, but their are huge managers with much glory leathered all over their C.V's, but we, Liverpool; had a pick from 2 people, both who have never signed a player for more than £7 million in their lives. Come on.

I like Brendan Rodgers, he's very respectful, which tells me he didn't learn his manners and decorum from the Special one during his time at Chelsea. Also he's the new gaffa so let's all give him a great chance to do a great job.

I also like Martinez and think he will do well at Villa should he get the job.

It's just a bit of a lie to put these to forward as the best candidates. Martinez the relegation battler was the front runner for most of the time, then FSG suddenly made a move for someone who finished 6 places higher in the League.

The fans went from fury and rage at the mere suggestion of Martinez, were allowed to sweat it out with pictures being taken of the two in talks on the ''sidewalk''.

Then FSG to a switch bait and bring Rodgers back into the frame with the majority of Liverpool fans just glad it wasn't Martinez.

I see it, Good luck Rodgers, hope you do a great job.

30 May 2012 16:51:33
Hey eds, I know its probably not possible for you to say but if Rogers is appointed manager do you know of any transfer targets he is interested in? {Ed022's Note - No, not yet. Also, I believe he has now been appointed with compensation now agreed.}

Ed if you believe that rodgers has been appointed when will it be made public?
thanks {Ed001's Note - as soon as the final details are sorted out with Swansea it will be announced.}

Hey Ed001 - are you "Sky sources"?

I think they're reading this website!

Digger {Ed022's Note - It wouldn't be the first time.}

30 May 2012 16:49:11
Hi eds, what do you think on reports of Afellay that barca could let him go for 6 million seems a quality player before he got injured and pace what the team desperately needs ?

Southern red {Ed022's Note - Affelay may perhaps leave yes, but Italy remains the most likely destination.}

I get peeved and vexed at the mere suggestion that Liverpool should be signing players who are sick notes.

He may be rated highly on the computer games and his best bits on youtube may look very appetising, but he's an injury waiting to happen.

Barcelona signed him for peanuts and played him a few times, he's been injured for a huge majority of his time and they want a cool 10 million euro's for him a year later.

No way. Affelay is not made for the Prem, it's like Aurelio but on the wing.

That's what people said about mata and silva and look how they have done

30 May 2012 16:45:04
Hi eds,

Is the any chance we might be interested in Pato this summer once the management situation is sorted? Is he the type of player we might be interested in? Or is he too injury prone?

Mike {Ed022's Note - Very doubtful.}

From what I've seen, he is not as good as he is considerred to be. There are many better players than him at persumably low price. He is too much of a risk both with injuries and his lack of consistancy.

Don't worry, with rodgers now appointed we will be able to attract and target classey players, maybe rodgers can use his influence and grab routledge, monk and situ, get them 3 we will definitely be challenging for a uefa cup spot! FSG certainly appear to know what they are doing! We are in safe hands! Bring on next season!

I can't see Pato moving to Liverpool, he's got PSG and Ancelotti swarming over his head waiting to pounce.

I think Pato was always over ratged, he's done some good things, but not consistent enough, he doesn't take knocks well and isn't durable enough.

Oh and he will certainly want Champions League football and a massive wage packet.

Ryan babel was better than pato.

30 May 2012 16:43:43
Hi eds, none of my posts seem to be going on, or at least I've not seen them.. anyway to my point.. seems inevitable rogers will become our new manager shortly, can you see us going for any off their players? I've always like Sinclair and think he could add some well needed pace to our team
Who would you like? Thanks mate {Ed022's Note - I do not know yet.}

30 May 2012 16:40:52
can you confirm rogers is new manager yet? Or still not done deal?
thanks
gareth {Ed022's Note - Yes, he seems to be. Just the compensation to go.}

30 May 2012 16:38:11
Ed, Empire Of The Kop reporting that Rodgers has agreed a 3 year deal. They don't usually do rumours mate, have you heard the same?

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed022's Note - I have heard the reports, but I do not know yet of the length of the contract, although the deal looks to be done.}

30 May 2012 16:38:08
Is Javi Martinez out of the question? He'd be my first signing. Would 25 million tempt him ed? Would he be willing to come to Liverpool ed?

BthekingB {Ed022's Note - No. He is happy in Spain and it would take more than 25 million.}

30 May 2012 16:35:40
Eds, What is the transfer kitty Brendan Rodgers will have? {Ed022's Note - There is no set budget.}

Great, unlimited money :D

30 May 2012 16:34:32
Rodgers manager 3 year deal press conference later tonight.

Yes it looks like Brendan Rodgers has been appointed Liverpool manager. I like this man and his football philosophy. This could be a really clever appointment. Welcome to LFC and good luck Brendan

I heard he's looking at a cat called sabrina for £32m?

30 May 2012 16:29:27
Brendan Rogers has signed a 3 year deal according to the BBC

I hope, if thats true. our web would announce it earlier than Dave Whelan. I really am tired of listening to him. lolz. YNWA

30 May 2012 16:26:29
Brendan Rodgers to be appointed new manager of Liverpool Football Club within the next hour

30 May 2012 16:22:47
If Rodgers does become manager, who do you reckon will become our likely transfer targets?

Lfcfan {Ed022's Note - Far too early to say.}

We are going to raid the swans and send then back to the championship

30 May 2012 16:21:04
Hi Eds,

If we sign Brendan Rodgers as manager, do you think there is genuine chance we could sign Sigursson or is he nailed on for Swansea anyway?

{Ed022's Note - Liverpool would have to bid rapidly to have any chance of getting him.}

Now we would get value for money young signings from the foreign & the lower leagues of england..

Why would you want him anyway. he wouldn't get near our first team.
derryred

30 May 2012 16:20:12
Does this mean we also get Scot Sinclair in the deal? {Ed022's Note - No, of course not.}

Do we get him every second weekend ed 22 {Ed022's Note - Hahahaha.}

And dyer.
raid the swans

Lol. date the model get the car?

how do u even come up with this question i wonder.

Kaizer

30 May 2012 16:19:19
hey eds, what I wanted to know was how have bbc sport got this info about Rodgers. Who, if anyone has come out and said something regarding rodgers situation?

Another question I have, is at Swansea did Brendan Rogers have a DoF? Just wondering could him joining affect the DoF situation. Cheers eds, keep up the good work. {Ed022's Note - Nobody. The story broke because Rodgers landed in Liverpool from his helicopter. That's it.}

Pretty foolish of them to announce it on their website as "Brendan Radgers Signs 3 Year Deal", dont you think? Gotta be more to it than landing in Liverpool ed...

According to ssn they held talks in london eds.

geo

Is it Ryan babels helicopter?

30 May 2012 16:16:18
Brendan Rodgers has signed a 3 year deal...

KKM..

30 May 2012 16:07:22
Eds, what are the chances of signing Ozil this summer? I remember there was talk of it in January.

Cheers

Weasle from Aus {Ed022's Note - No chance without CL.}

Absolute no chance

Hes just come out and said what a great season it was and how good it felt to win the la liga. Ed is right about champions league too he mentioned it hurt getting knocked out at the semis which i guess means he aims to win it. Ozil had a rough month or so last season but got back on form and had the game of his life against Barcelona. Hes still young and Mourinho has said he sees Ozil becoming a real madrid legend. Ozil himself said hed love to retire there... Dont see him going anywhere anytime soon...B {Ed022's Note - I believe he may possibly leave this summer, but will only go to a club with CL.}

30 May 2012 16:04:15
Ed people on here saying there will be no DOF with Rogers. Is this true because I would be really worried if we only had BR and nobody else to attract quality players?

Frog {Ed022's Note - I have heard all the reports also, I will try and look into it further.}

Were still Liverpool football club I get were your coming from do that was my fear with martinez I had nightmares of my kind going around with Moses on the back of his kit next year. So hopefully any players we do go for will want to be part of the club regardless of who the manager is and if all else fails with modern footballers just throw a few more zeros at the end of the wages.
Mike

Apparently LVG and Pep Segura will work as sports director and technical director respectively. There is supposed to be one more directoral position. looks like quite a complicated structure. however i agree with the original poster - it must not be BR on his own, we will not able to to attract quality players. {Ed022's Note - It is a complicated structure yes, and Pep Segura looks very likely for the Sports Director role.}

Rodgers signed a 3 Year deal with LFC. not to sure if the director of football appointment weather there is going to be one or not but i can confirm rodgers is the manager

30 May 2012 15:40:46
ed's, if rodgers becomes our manager do you think that would effect sigurddson's desicion to sign for swansea? and do you think rodgers would want to bring him to us?

cheers {Ed022's Note - An interesting question, but Liverpool would need to bid rapidly.}

And bring scott sinclair to play right wing also

I think it's either Sigurddson or Krasic for the right side. Both i believe are available for less than £10 million.

Boudebouz seems to be the first choice for the left wing, maybe he and Downing are too slug it out. I'd like that competition as it's chalk and cheese. I read that the Liverpool scouts would surely put his name forward to the new manager.

I'm not convinced by Jackson Martinez, the Columbian league seems very weak compared to the English Prem.

The link too Luuk De Jong has waned somewhat with us being manager-less n all, but hopefully Brendan Rodgers and Van Gaal (if it is too be those two) are reading from the same page.

Alltintop of Real Madrid, Ughh, i don't rate this lad at all. Bayern's 12th man as it were and Real Madrid forgotten man.

I think there are a lot of players about with a lot more to offer Liverpool than Altintop, he did work with Van Gaal, so if Van Gaal were to come in to LFC it would seem to have some legs, but i'm sure Van Gaal could pick up better options. But he may rate the player highly, i don't know.

30 May 2012 15:31:41
Take it Martinez didt like set up with a DOF,or was Rodgers 1st choice all along?Anyone enlighten us? {Ed022's Note - A bit of both.}

That makes no sense if BBC are reporting the Rodgers appointment will see him working alone and not with a DOF?

Boozley

30 May 2012 15:23:40
hey eds could we see Fsg tell us how is the dof along with brendon roger as manager on friday

{Ed022's Note - Doubtful mate.}

Eds, question for you..

Wasn't Luis Van Gaal favourite for this job? Or Txiki is still in the running?

As i had thought, DOF would want his man to be at the helm?

Chaki {Ed022's Note - Both are still in the running.}

eds chelsea already signed 2 LW/LM in Marko Marin and Eden Hazard well do you think there could be a slight possibility and im talking 1% chance even that Juan Mata might leave chelsea as that belgian a******* (Hazard) said he wants to play week in week out in Mata's position. Mata is 10X the player Downing will ever be and he's 4 or 5 years younger than him. {Ed022's Note - No chance this summer mate.}

Hazard has said he's gone to Chelsea as he will be given the chance to play regularly in his favoured position just off the striker. He wont be playing at left wing, he'll be playing in a number 10 type role just behind Torres.

Marin has signed for Chelsea?? U sure?Iv not seen anything! {Ed022's Note - Yes, he did a while ago.}

Nothing to do with LFC but both Mata and Hazard will start for Chelsea, one will play central probably mata as hazard has more pace

Barry 1243

He's also reportedly taking Mata's number.

Let me eliminate that 1%..Mata has just won the CL..and even if he does not play regularly next season, (unlikely)..but even if he doesn't..there is a ridiculously rich team in Spain..who'd jump at the chance at signing him..and they're in the CL..and would want to show they mean business.

Mata plays behind nando now lad

30 May 2012 15:06:42
if we do sign rogers is there any chance of sinclair following? {Ed022's Note - It is far too early to say.}

How about vorm? {Ed022's Note - I hope so, but unlikely.}

Wouldn't want Sinclair but would like Allen

30 May 2012 15:03:09
i have to say bbc sport is a source i believe to be pretty accurate (not the gossip colum)!
not sure how to take brendan rodgers 48 hrs etc.
any thoughts? fans/edd's

billynwa {Ed022's Note - Perhaps not 48 hours, but by the end of the week is what I expect.}

Brendan Rodgers want go anywhere!

Ha ha ed! 48 hours is the end of the week. Wrong again {Ed022's Note - Are you an idiot? 48 hours takes us to Friday. The end of the week is Sunday.}

You can trust BBC to report Sports news that's relatively easy for multinational news papers and t.v channels from around the World to verify.

But i don't trust the BBC to report news worthy things at all.

Check the Earthquakes off of Blackpool's coast line, BBC didn't report them.

The BBC also have an agreement to show the E.U in a favourable light, which is an illegal agreement, which defaults everyone's liability on a television license.

Let's never forget the BBC is the State propaganda machine first and foremost, then a T.V station secondarily.
{Ed022's Note - I am also aware of the BBC neglecting the legal responsibilities of impartiality, however nothing has done or will be done about them unfortunately. Nevertheless, they are much less bias than Sly news.}

30 May 2012 14:46:29
this moose talksport claiming the owners very much like Cavani and have certainly interest in buying him!
True Eds?

Cheers

Phil {Ed022's Note - No truth.}

The same moose who said Klopp was "nailed on" to be Liverpool manager?

Chris in Tamworth

Never believe anything the Moose says! Even Talksh*te presenters don't!

He also guaranteed klopp was our new manager

He also said that Klopp would be announced as the manager by monday.. didn't come true...

Ed are you judging we won't sign because of the source or is it because you have information on where he is going?

Jonesred {Ed022's Note - Because of information of where he is more than likely going.}

30 May 2012 14:50:11
Contact close to Rushie confirming Rodgers looks likely.
All out there anyway I know Eds but thought you'd like to know.
Cheers,
ALB.

Eds, great rumor site.
Need your Eds on these :-
1)If FSG owner looking for young Manager? If true then I can see R.Martinez,Pep Guardiola, AVB, Jurgen Klopp, Brendan Rodgers.

2)Have LFC rep. enter discussion with Brendan Rodgers? Would love him at Anfield. His philosophy of football is quite good and with LFC, might be even better result.

3) With Milos Krasic & Ryad Boudebouz compete in the same position, which one is likely to be at LFC?

4)Is LFC still watching Moussa Sissoko situation? Might be good partner for Lucas next season.

5)Is LFC consider to sign another Left-back to compete with Jose Enrique? Who that might be? Jack Robo still young and loan him next season will be a good choice.

Thanks for the answers Eds. Hope LFC fans have a great news this week.

Znydz'LFC {Ed022's Note - Right here goes. I expect Rodgers to be named the new manager by the end of the week after an approach was finally made this morning, and then I understand Rodgers flew into Liverpool this afternoon and is about to hold talks with the owners themselves, which I believe he will then accept the role and will be our next manager. I have no idea who is more likely out of Boudebouz and Krasic. Jack Robinson will more than likely be loaned to Villa next season, so yes we will be looking at another left-back. There is no news on Moussa Sissoko.}

30 May 2012 14:01:03
Ed22....looks like u will be eating your words, as BBC are reporting Rodgers to be announced Liverpool manager in the next 48hrs
Kabir {Ed022's Note - I said I was not aware of any approach, which I wasn't. There was an approach made this afternoon and I now expect Rodgers to get the job.}

30 May 2012 14:29:41
BBC reporting that Rodgers is expected to be confirmed as LFC manager in next 48 hours.
- Personally I'm delighted, I think he has a bit more steel than Martinez and will get us playing attractive football. Fans who are calling for Mourinho/Pep need to go play football manager or FIFA. Support him, the team and any new faces that join in the coming months! Come on Liverpool!
YNWA

I totally agree with you mate.. lets all get behind Brendan and show him the support he needs and deserves.. A good manager is a happy manager..

Completely agree guys if he's does get the job which seem more than likely we should get behind him because he is likely to be there for a long while as he is fsg's first real appointment ( idea of picking a young manager is to build give him time ) with a experienced DOF and possible pep segura as tech director everything should be in place to give this manager the modern structure he needs something unfortunately Lenny didn't have - comolli :/

You must be joking Kenny for this never.
Eam

30 May 2012 14:23:24

K Spion

Hey Hey i`m overjoyed :( i thought they were gonna give it to the cleaning lady.5m more down the drain.
Eam

30 May 2012 14:14:33
BBC: Rogers to be confirmed the new LFC manager within 48 hours! Compo is currently being discussed (wont be cheap as he only signed a new contract this season!).

: Martinez has rejected Liverpool as 3 new directors are taking over Comollis old role (which ties in with what Ayre said a week or so ago that the role is being split).

30 May 2012 14:06:06
Hate to copy and paste, but taken from BBC Sport Website.....

"Rodgers poised for Liverpool job.

Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers is expected to be confirmed as the new Liverpool boss in the next 48 hours"

Seems pretty solid to me. Comes from Radio 5 Live reporter Pat Murphy. BBC dont quote these headlines unless its more or less nailed on.

Now lets stop all the negativity and support him, support FSG and support Liverpool!

Red G

Red g

I couldnt agree with u more, I think br will be refreshing at anfield and will do a great job

I for one will back him 100%

Lisa

I wouldnt start supporting him just yet this is probley just rubbish as well

Jred

How gullible are you to believe the BBC don't make up headlines - it may yet be true, but remember BBC also said Martinez had the job.

No they didnt. BBC reported Dave Whelan's comments about Martinez being made an offer. Difference!

30 May 2012 14:04:52
Brendan Rodgers to be unveiled as the next Liverpool manager in next 48 hours...

Just compensation to be agreed...

According to BBC..
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/18260899

Welcome to Liverpool, Brendan. I'm delighted with the appointment...

KKM...

Good luck Brendan and welcome to the greatest club in the world. Congratulations to Macca for calling this weeks ago. Thanks Henry

So explain how a manager with no experience is gonna attract top players 4 us if you are so up 4 it m8

Great News :)

Chaki

This is massive for our club guys...a masterstroke by JW and the FSG guys...thrilled to bits...expect to see Joe Allen and or Scott Sinclair come aswell I should imagine.

Not too sure about it and not much sure about Rodgers, too. But hope, he'd prove me wrong. I liked Swansea under him, alot. Hope, he can deliver success here. I was preferring martinez ahead of him but If he is the manager, There's no doubt, I'd be backing him. Welcome to LFC. YNWA Trustme

Allen and Sinclair? Oh yeah I better get my spooge rag out. RIP LFC

"No experience"? I would have thought that 15 years as a manager counts as some experience. Do your homework and know what you're talking about before you post garbage.

The players will come for the money. The same reason they go to other clubs, for the money. That seems to be all football is about these days, money.

Gaz1975.

This was one i hoped macca was wrong with.FGS you should of never bought us if this was your idea of making us great agian.
Eam

Regardless of who the new manager is to be I think that all the doom and gloom merchants should f**k off and start following the boat race. At least they will have a 50-50 chance of success each year.

I didn't want KK to go, I would have loved to see Frank de Boer as manager. But in the final analysis FSG saved us from administration and people should not be so quick to dismiss that. Instead, we have a barrel-load of spoilt children, spitting out their dummies and having hissy fits because FSG don't conform to their views.

Personally if this is the calibre of "fans" that we are currently attracting then it's no wonder big name stars would rather go to other clubs.

I'll be delighted if Brendan Rodgers can unearth a few gems like he has done at Swansea and has us playing in a similar fashion. Who knows, with the right additions and the quality that is already there we might actually progress up the league and then attract bigger names.

Robbie'sNoseBand

Albert riera said a few seasons ago Liverpool were a sinking ship and he wasnt wrong, everthing they do has an amatuer fell to it, and this appointment takes the biscuit...the Liverpool era is over, teams like city chelsea man utd arsenal spurs and even newcastle will blow us out of the water..the end

Pleased, if not delighted, Liverpool fan here.

Rodgers will be ambitious, hungry, and obviously has some managerial talent. He'll live the game and team 24/7 and give it everything.

Just need the owners to back him up with a bit of cash for two more key players: top notch winger and a ruthless finisher, IMO.

Brendan Rodgers: YNWA!

;0)

Dr S.Atire

Yep well done Macca, come through with the goods again. Stop the whinging and get behind the manager will you. Please Albert Riera was a sinking ship himself {Ed016's Note - Was he ever}

30 May 2012 12:17:21
bert van marwijk
joachim low
slavin bilic
laurent blanc

ed i know these guys are managing at the euros but could we potential go for one?DORSET RED {Ed022's Note - Bilic has already agreed to join another club. Lowe and Blanc wouldn't be interested in leaving Germany and France respectively, and I doubt Van Marwijk to be honest.}

30 May 2012 14:52:13
betting has stopped for liverpool's new manager, does this mean a deal has happened for Bendan Rodgers?

30 May 2012 10:56:41
Alexi Lalas to take over at Liverpool next season.

Is he the only American manager you are aware of?

LOL, why not we interviewed Martinez

That weird American dude?
what are you smoking chap?
Boozley

100% True Honest. My mates Aunt still cleans his house in Halifax even though he hasnt been back for 15 years.

He isn't a manager is he! He was general manager at la galaxy, a bit like dof, so maybe it has a sniff of a stort? H I can't see it me self like! Just wish all this crap of he or him, and maybe him could, wants and dowsnt want talks all finishes and we can start buying the quality players needed to move us up by at least 4 places in the league!

Speak to her a lot then if its been 15years

Sounds like your auntie has got squatters rights on that house doesn't it

As someone who lives in the states and cringes everytime alexi lalas is on tv, I say thank you for the laugh today

30 May 2012 10:43:25
very good source saying Martinez has got the job...

I would rather Rodgers out of the 2 to be honest. Hopefully we get a top notch DoF.

I wouldnt!! Rodgers got sacked by reading 2years ago has everybody forgot

I wouldn't 1 year in the Prem does not make a good manager, Martinez has at least had a few year's in the prem and tried to play football the rite way

My preference would be Martinez, too. But, whoever it is, I believe, we all would get behind him. YNWA

What sauce HP or Heinze

Your 'very good source' is wrong. Its gonna be Brendan Rodgers, which makes your source 'very rubbish'!

RG

30 May 2012 09:49:03
Steve Miranda top us reporter speaking on talksh*te claims FSG have deep pockets and are willing to back the new manager bigtime! watch out for a crazy summer spending spree!

In that case players like Lavezzi Cavani are not so far fetched. What do you recken Eds?

Paul {Ed022's Note - It must be true then. Lavezzi and Cavani would could I don't know, around 75 million pounds. That's for 2 players. 75, million, pounds. With no Champions League football, no manager, no DoF and no structure at the club at the moment, why would players of their calibre come to Liverpool?}

75 million for cavani and lavezzi i would think about 55 million not 75million that would like cavani cost 50 million not saying it would happen at all especially without a manager but not that much

JJ

Coz its a cray, crazy world we live in ed22 {Ed022's Note - Clearly so mate.}

Why did Suarez join then? Not that different really.

DaveyBootle

I know small minded and clueless people try the old 'you're not a big club anymore' nonsense on a daily basis, but Ed, you should no better. Players will come to Liverpool BECAUSE it is Liverpool. We are an enormous club worldwide; only Utd, Barca and Real can compete with the Reds on that scale. You might not like it, but 1 champions league win does not and never will put the likes of Chelsea on an even footing with Liverpool. Get over it {Ed022's Note - Sigh. Ok allow me to put it in terms which even the every-day idiot will understand. Players like money, agents like money, players like Champions League, players like winning trophies, players like challenging for the league, players like stability at a club, players like consistency. The value of History is now pretty much dead, and as for your 'global market argument', yes it may be true that Liverpool have a successful fanbase from foreign nations etc, but how on earth will that help? To give an example, will Cavani suddenly decide to join Liverpool because he knows Liverpool have loads of fans in Asia? No, he won't. I am a very passionate Liverpool fan, but the difference between you and I, is that I have what I describe as 'actual intelligence'. Thank you for playing. To summarise, I have no idea why you included Chelsea in your argument, it just proves that you are clearly a tad inept.}

Ed 22 is obviously not a fan. Fact is no one knows what is happening but the people involved, mainly the owners.I am sure they know what they are doing and the fact that they have not commented despite all the "stories" people and press are making up gives me more confidence in them as they are obviously not bothered by it all and are just quietly going about their business. {Ed022's Note - You're so very correct sir, I am clearly not a fan for stating facts. Would you prefer it if I lie to you? Ok here goes: Cavani will sign 100% you heard it here first remember the name - there we go, now I sound like people like you.}

FSG are moving fast believe me.. They have a plan and things will move quickly once the management team are in place this friday.
As for Cavani and Lavezzi 75 million your avin a laarf Eds, more like 50 to 60 million and a class winger like Dyer or Sincair around 15m. I think Fenway will go big. They have seen Chelski spend 32m on Hazard and know they need to spend up to 100million this summer to secure champions league.

'Ed022' Your a legend.. I can't stop laughing at your comments. To the other guy, give it up, you just got chewed Peanuts! {Ed022's Note - Thank you, but I have no idea what chewed Peanuts means? Haha.}

Ed 022 while i do not doubt champions league is the big carrot i think the idea behind the article was that the owners have big money (not sure if that is true) but there are still plenty of mercenaries in the football business and that is how you might attract biggish players

Ed022 can't understand why some of the people on this site attack you despite the fact you give some valuable insight as well as keeping it real for us thanks mate just want to show my support so you don't get frustrated by these others.

AndyKop {Ed022's Note - Thanks mate, but no matter what I or any other Ed says, we will always upset the select few.}

Fully agree with ed on this one, y'all just need to cool them beans!

Chewed the peanuts,cooled the beans,i think i'm on the wrong site,anyone got the recipe?

I dont think Brendan Rodgers and Dusty Bin could attract a virus to the team.
Huge spit in the face of us Reds this appointment.

Cavani & Lavezzi in fees alone would cost a minimum of £60m. Then you have to factor-in the agent fees (minimum of 10% of fees), then the tax on the fees (20% of fees), then tax on agent fees. Then there's signing on fees. The complete outlay would be closer to £85m and then you must consider the salaries which Liverpool simply couldn't pay. All this then you have to ask why would they choose Liverpool over RM, Barcelona, Milanese clubs etc. Liverpool do not have UCL football to offer next season and do not look like being able to offer it for sometime. It is not all down to money, but location too, would a South American prefer to live in Liverpool or Madrid/Barcelona/Milan etc. If you combined all of these issues it's just never going to happen and all the Ed is trying to do is stop you from being disappointed this summer with your unrealistic expectations.

Disney!

Because liverpool fc is biger team than napoli ...and for better ofer for the players

Why do any players go to clubs for the money of course slap a big wage in front of them and theyll bite your hand off like city and chelsea have done

Ed 022 fair enough it is not going to happen but history does count in football and so does size and Liverpool have both.
If your argument history means nothing well last seasons winners are history not a valid argument at all.
City proved its all money u throw enough u catch your player but still a lot around who would love to be at Liverpool. {Ed022's Note - So, City proves that players want to go to a club for history?}

Hey Peanuts, Give it your argument is pointless. Let it go. Do It, Do It Now. Lol

30 May 2012 09:40:54
Hey Eds, a couple of reports stating van gaal may not be appointed as DoF. Is txiki begiristain still in the running for this position do you know?

Many Thanks
Amz {Ed022's Note - Yes, he is.}

Either of those guys would be a good appointment in my opinion.
CR

I have a feeling we are all in for a suprise and van gaal will be named manager and txiki begiristain as DOF. The owners are winners and are desperate to for us to get in the CL, surely they know martinez and rodgers will not get us there for a long time

Txiki hasn't been approached.

I watched the Copa del rey final at the weekend and that guilerm fella said that Txiki had not even been approached at that point.

Rumour is there is no DOF.... FSG have agreed to give BR full control with SC as his number 2.

David Dein is going to come in to work alongside Ian Ayre. We are also recruiting three new scouts from Ajax, Inter and a unnamed club.

30 May 2012 09:39:41
Hey Ed's is there a possibility that if both rodgers and martinez turn down the opportunity to manage liverpool we could get van gaal as manager ?
thanks {Ed022's Note - I suppose there is a possibility, but very unlikely.}

30 May 2012 09:00:21
Ed(s), with wolves being relegated do you know of any interest in Kevin Doyle and Matt Jarvis? I might get slated for mentioning them name but there both good players. Jarvis runs at players and has a decent cross and Kevin Doyle knows we're the goal is. I don't mean for them to be a first team starter but both could come off the bench and change the game unlike some the crap we have now.

Nice one

Dan {Ed022's Note - I personally think Jarvis is a very good player and would love him at Liverpool. Nevertheless, there is no interest in any Wolves player at the moment, but perhaps Steven Fletcher could be an option. Too early to say though.}

Jarvis is a quality winger, but doyle doesnt score anywhere near enough.

What a very stupid comment are u a lfc fan at all {Ed022's Note - Who? Me? Yes, I am - just because I rate Jarvis as a player then that must mean I am not a Liverpool fan.}

I was at Anfield when Wolves played the Poll this season Matt Jarvis was brilliant against us Very impressed.

If we had Matt Jarvis last season , think of how many assists he would have made for big Andy , and we would have had a lot more wins .

30 May 2012 08:22:16
Morning Ed. Can you tell me if the club ever accepted Steve Clarkes resignation. I was led to believe that they would wait to see what the new manager wants before making a final decision and personally if we had a new team of

Louise van Gaal as DOF
Brendan Rodgers as manager and
Steve Clarke as his assistant

Id be happy with that. Fans that want Klopp, Pep etc need to wake up and smell the coffee as its not going to happen.

Also I seem to remember Ian Ayre saying Kennys replacement would be more coaching based rather than management based and this is where Rodgers has got his reputation at Chelsea with Jose. Again I seem to remember Jose giving both him and Clarke glowing recommendations.

So is it me but the futures not that bad, is it?

RedDan

{Ed022's Note - I believe that Steve Clark's resignation will either be accepted or declined based upon the new manager.}

30 May 2012 07:43:45
To be fair i believe this rogers malarky is a load of bull its just media getting people to spend moneys just wait and see mr martinez is out nxt manager. What you think eds.

Scouse ben {Ed022's Note - I believe that there has been no approach made towards Rodgers.}

30 May 2012 07:25:58
Eds.. Any truth in Rodgers being approached for LFC job?
What are the chances of him being appointed?

Chaki {Ed022's Note - No information regarding Rodgers being approached at all from me. It'll either be Martinez, or someone who hasn't been mentioned at all. Don't ask me who that could be, because I cannot tell you.}

Can not tell because you don't know? {Ed001's Note - yes, we don't know, as we keep telling you.}

30 May 2012 06:14:23
Diame has chosen not to come to Liverpool. He had previous talks with Kenny but he believes he has more opportunities elsewhere.

RedManIn {Ed022's Note - I love the regurgitation of Sly Sports. Thank you.}

Actually, i posted this before sky sports? either it went through the review page slow as anything or you clearly fail to grasp the fact that you guys might not be the only one's with 'contacts'. Just saying. {Ed022's Note - You posted this today at 6am. It was made public on Sly Sports yesterday Afternoon at around 1:30 pm.}

30 May 2012 05:51:53
Looks like it has been confirmed that BR will be new manager then, sources expect it to be announced by Saturday.

RedManIn

So he's our new manager but they don't want to confirm it will saturday why? Sounds like BS .... Big Mike

Doubt it, Ed 22 says no and seems confident that it will not be Rodgers. {Ed022's Note - I just haven't received any information regarding him, so have no reason to believe it will be him.}

Is that so lads...

RedManIn {Ed022's Note - What day is it today mate?}

I said by Saturday. Get your facts straight mate.

30 May 2012 03:26:03
Hey Ed's, not saying goetze will come to Liverpool. But! What's happend with the interest in him? All the clubs seem to have focused on hazard and others and seem to have forgotten all about the talent that is goetze!
AnfieldUSA {Ed022's Note - Goetze signed a new contract with Dortmund that's why all the hype has died down for now.}
