It has been decided that Roy Hodgsons services are no longer needed at Liverpool. He will again be given the option to resign and leave with minewt amount of dignity and if he refuses then he will be sacked. The news will break AFTER the Bolton match tomorrow. Kenny Dalglish will be appointed as part time manager until summer. A large budget will be given to the new manager who will be either Didier Deschamps or Andre Villas Boas who will be the successor to Kenny. Finally Sammi Hyypia will return as coaching staff.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Has Torres handed in a transfer request or not
Massive loss, but he is not playing for the team or for himself
Maybe just to get woy out of a job
We will see tomorrow when the outcome of the supposed 8am meeting is and the short time period after the defeat, I mean great game against Bolton
But hey we are Liverpool and we will keep the faith nd trust in all that happens with our club

I know this because my source has informed me. It is possible to know someone on the inside of the club you know! He was the first to inform me of Honda and Van Wolfswinkel signing.

If you still don't believe me then check sky sports news around an 1 to 2 hours after the Bolton match!

Okay then , 2 things =
1) Honda and wolfswinkel havant signed (and won't be , as hodgson has clearly stated today , he doubts transfers), so he doesn't know , whoever you source may be!
2)I will watch ssn 1-2 hours after , because i can guarentee it will not happen , although i wish it would.

Oh my god how many times does it need saying THERE IS NO TRANSFER BUDGET. ALL PLAYERS WILL BE SIGNED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS USING CRITERIA ALREADY DISCUSSED ON HERE i.e age, potential and marketability. Thats why Marveaux has been looked at because Comolli has suggested that signing him would a financial no brainer as he has potential to be a good player and is incredibly cheap. EVERY SINGLE PLAYER THAT WE SIGN UNDER NESV WILL BE PURCHASED IN THIS WAY. NESV don't know enough about football to make the decisons on player recruitment by themselves but i also doubt they're foolish enough to give either Hodgson or Comolli free rein to sign whoever they want.

Angon a minute , i just had a thought but a bad thought , today , hodgson said that its doubtful we will be spending and now theres a meeting 2moro morning at 8am , don't you think it could be to tell the players that they will not be buying any players and with torres clearly stating he wants us to buy , this could be the final straw :'(

This wouldn't surprise me, its obvious now that where not going to be in the champs league nxt season and nesv keeping saying that it will take years to build us back up again. The older players we have can't hang around for that to happen they want to win things.

LAVERS

I also think this is a distinct possibility, although unlikely they will go until the summer. But if I was them, and I didn't see some form of commitment from the board to improve the squad or management id be off. Especially Nando, considering the s* t he is getting from some of the supporters.

How confident are you ed on the horoau and maerveaux deals? {ed's note - I am not confident we will sign them, but I am sure we will try and sign them. The way the team is playing right now it is going to be difficult to convince players to join.}

Although Roy has not got performances on the pitch going the right way he did manage to convince J.Cole to come to us when he could have gone to spurs and he managed to keep Torres here even though he could have gone to city or chelsea.

Do you not think though that if maervaeux came to the game he would be quite close to signing, even though we played badly?

How far has the horau negotiations gone, has a fee been agreed? {ed's note - Roy had nothing to do with Cole choosing us, Gerrard and Carragher convinced him to join. Marveaux was nailed on, he was here to look around etc. I have no idea on Hoarau (I am not even sure how you spell his name!) but the editor who does will hopefully be about later, though it is New Year's Eve, so I might be hoping for too much on that front.}

No former Manc will ever manage us. Hell Hughes spent more in 15 months than Rafa spent in 6 years and all he got was fired and Roys old job.

Our manager should be one of these:
Rikkjaard
Boas
Deschamps
Jol (but only with a defensive minded No.2, like Houghton, Thommo or Sami)
Coyle

Never Be our manager list:
Any of Whiskey-nose friends. Fat Sam, Pullis, Bruce.

True. I personally know Jamie, a good lad, and I respect him as a person and as a player, loyal servant, etc - but I also appreciate that sometimes, certain prominent influences are not always beneficial and can hinder specific circumstances. I think your reply confirms your doubts regarding a potential 'temporary return' of Kenny, and it hurts me to say but I think you're right in saying so. I dislike Hodgson as a manager, but not as a person, and some of the seething nasty comments directed at him is just sick. {ed's note - I like Jamie as a lad, he was always a decent lad and I would rather he was ready for the role or the role was ready for him before he took over. I would bring him in as assistant myself and give him the reserves to look after myself. I would hate to see him fail, he has given his heart and soul to the club, he deserves to succeed.}

" Ed u reckon theres any chance o'neill could be a target for manager?

He did a great job at villa and is the passionate type of manager we need

{Editor's Note: I doubt it and I hope not.}"

I hope not too! I get the impression that Mr O'neill is not a great lover of our football club, probably due to his days as a prominent Forest player. Now, i'm sure he would jump at the chance to manage our club - but would you really want him? That's just an opinion mind, but my gut instinct tells me i'm right, and i'd sooner have a little passion back UNLIKE the so-called passion from our present manager. I've heared names linked like Bruce, Hughes etc etc which turns my stomach to be honest - some people just DON'T understand.

Guys r asking for kenny 2 take over Roys job now but 2 me kenny a god to all us lfc fans and wud hate it if he failed just like Roy has! ! But if king ken did do the job we wud play better footy and the players wud give him a 110% every game! ! To be honest I think we r stuck with Roy till the summer then hopefully we get van gaal then we can move forward instead of backwards wot u think ed good job and all the best guys {ed's note - I think we are stuck with Roy until the summer unless results and performances don't improve.}

Sounds decent. My only question about this player is his age. At 26 hes a little on the older side as far as NESVs signing policy goes. Perhaps they took into consideration his style of play ( height over pace ). Something that won't diminish with age. ;-)

{Editor's Note: I expect Marveaux's transfer to go through as planned. Juventus do have a current interest in Elia and Honda's agent is correct, he will move during January. Correct Ed, Kees Ploegsma / Honda s agent intimated that Honda is considering the exit door at CSKA Moscow after it emerged that the club were considering cashing in on either Alan Dzagoev or the Japanese international, however Honda reportedly responded by angling for a move to Europe with Arsenal, Liverpool, and AC Milan the confirmed suitors.

It was sport.co.uk who indicated that a verbal agreemenet had been reached between honda and lfc. "Keisuke Honda is reportedly ready to leave CSKA Moscow in the January transfer window with Roy Hodgson's Liverpool the favourites to land the Japanese international, although Arsenal are also reportedly keen. Nevermind that. .where does that leave the team? A poor man's Crouch to play in an outdated "hoof-the-ball" style of game and a relatively poor, one-season-wonder, small player out wide. Neither are any improvement on what is there already

All over italian and french news media today.

Rennes man Sylvain Marveaux will likely be Liverpool's first January acquisition, following news that the player was present in the directors box at Anfield to see the Reds go down to Wolves in their last league encounter.

The Ligue 1 player, who will be out of contract next summer and as such could be bought for as little as £1.5m, is the subject of interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, but it appears that a deal tying him to Liverpool will be agreed on in a matter of days.

Marveaux has never been capped for the senior France national team, but has appeared 11 times for his country's U-21 side, scoring four goals.

Same papers / media that have restarted the Rikjard runours. As a potential LFC manager van gaal remember signed an extension on his cotract in sept last year which runs till June 2012 and also Boas extended his contract by 12 months the other day so it kooks like a temp manager any time now to see us to the end of the season. As for the bullocks that NESV can't pay RH compensation, every position we fall down the league costs us a few hundred thousand quid, so get rid and move up the league and that would pay for RH.

Ed please not talksh* * are repeating an old story from the people newspaper and tuttomercato see below As reported by British tabloid The People , Liverpool would be on the trail of Eljero Elia, young striker under all'Amburgo. The player is followed by Juventus in Italy with insistence that he now has just come to terms with the 'Reds'. The Liverpool to the German club have offered € 7 million.

Juve has been watchinh him for the past year.

The latest news on Honda was that when his agent done an interview with "Ria Novisti" he stated that Honda will leave in Jan window

I grew up with Steven Gerrards dad, and was out with him last night.

we were talking about possible signings and Paul told me that Steven has said that there was no chance of any big signings in January, BUT Liverpool have agreed to a MASSIVE Departure form the club, though it is not Steven.

I said my money would be on Torres or Reina, but Paul said he could not say, but *winked.

He said Steven had talked to Maxi about Aguero staying in his house over Christmas, but said that he had also spent time with Tevez, and thinks a move to Eastlands may be planned!

Top top load of nonsense mate brilliant! This isn't even worthy of a source i am not doubting you grew up with steven gerrard's dad ( don't believe that though ) however why would gerrard know such information he's the captain not the manager! Re: Luis Van Gaal rumour:

Molby has said "I think Louis van Gaal would walk to Anfield to take the Liverpool job"

could be something to this. .

- - - - - - - - - - - -

This statement shows that Mobly does not have a clue about Van Gaal, since Van Gaal said that Bayern is the last club in his career as a coach. He states that there are four options for his future: Staying at Bayern for more years, returning to Ajax as director, coaching an ambitious national team or retiring.

His current contract runs out in 2012 and there is no way Bayern would let him go earlier. Besides, in my opinion it is very arrogant to believe that Van Gaal would leave Bayern for Liverpool.

Be realistic! The situation has changed and Liverpool can not compete with Bayern anymore! Therefore people should stop to believe that Liverpool could get anyone (coach or important player) from Bayern.

RUMOURS
EDITOR i just read on south african reds that comolli will have a big input on who any new manager will be, is that true? if so that MUST be a bad thing, im starting to regret the whole comolli appointment i have read or heard nothing to suggest that we were right to change our whole system to employ him in his capacity, ok he may have contacts in france, but he is nothing more than a scout, i thought clubs like liverpool have scouts in every country, bob paisleys skids {ed's note - he has been employed to do a lot more than scouting, I am just hoping NESV knew what they were doing, I am not comfortable with it.}

A number of people are debating Kenny's role at the club.

How about Kenny is needed by the LFC headshed to retain a connection with the LFC of old but they are being careful not to allow him too high a profile because, quite simply, we all love the man and we would give him the keys to the club. If his profile was too high then his powerbase could become a problem for the owners and manager (whoever that is).

The problem for the owners could be that they simply have to give Kenny a role at the club because can you imagine what our club would look like if Kenny wasn't there??

Of course, that could all just be a load of b*ll*cks.

Frenchy. {ed's note - that is almost exactly as I see it, they can't afford to get him out, but they can't afford to give him a proper role or they weaken their own position. The man is too loved by the fans, they aren't in a position to win that kind of power battle just yet.}

Roy will be sacked after bolton game no matter wat happens. .comolli will be handed transfer budget kenny will take charge the team till end of season if he wins silverware he will be given the job on fulltime basis

()()

31 Dec 2010 13:07:51
The only reason Roy is still here is because of the short period between Wednesday and Saturday. Bolton is only given to him as a lifeline because it wouldn't make sense to bring in a new man a day before a game. Even if he just scrapes a win against Bolton the owners will know this can't continue so he'll have to pull an good performance out against Bolton otherwise the owners will place King Kenny in charge till they find a suitable replacement.

And marveuax has agreed to join Liverpool. He will have his medical early next week and will be ready to play for the fa cup game at the latest. And Comolli and co. are planning one big name signing late this transfer window.
Watch this space and remember the name. .

First off - let me say I am a huge Rafa fan and would love nothing more than for him to return. I think he got a raw deal and lives and breathes this great club of ours and so should be given the chance to rectify his errors of last season.

However, I heard the following rumour from a credible source (ex-player who is good friends with many of the current first team, and also knows Hodgson well.) He reckons that word is out that NESV have got their man. The talk of Roy having the Bolton game to save his job is not entirely accurate. Roy is definitely to be replaced in the summer - he has the next couple of games to prove he can last until then, otherwise he will be gone and a caretaker in for the remainder of the season.

The man who will take over in the summer is Louis Van Gaal. Apparently NESV have a verbal agreement with him, and the formalities will be completed soon.

I know this sounds incredulous, but the source is adamant that this is the talk of the team (quite a few of whom will be more than glad to see the back of Roy btw)

I think this would be a shrewd move, but personally would have far rather seen the return of Rafa. Don't shoot the messenger - I'm just passing on what was told to me, but he did seem fairly certain of this information.

You might not have heard of it yet, but theres this new technology called the telephone, video calling and all sorts, which NESV could use to speak tot he media in terms of Roys sacking, they only need to be here to introduce the new manager, so they have a week to get here by my reckoning!

Sylvain Marveaux will be our first aquisition of the January transfer window. We got him cheap because his contract ends next summer (about £1.5m). He is a very exciting young talent. Prefers to play attacking midfield on the left. Can be used as a winger. Was that not before NESV took over? They might have a different view of the guy.

Short term would like to see Kenny, Thomo or Evans. Long term Rijkaard, Deschamps, Villa Boas, Joachim Low or even Getafe manager Michel. Just someone young and proper up for it.

op6 {ed's note - when NESV first took over they spoke to Rijkaard and Pellegrini, both were ruled out and we were stuck with Roy because the only other available manager was O'Neill and he was (thankfully) never in the running.}

We will not sign honda.Marveaux is just a Possibility because of his low asking fee.Gervinho rumours are just rumours, there is nothing more than that.Fans please don't live in dreamlands.Club will have to wait untill summer for such signings like honda and Gervinho.First of all NESV are looking forward to establish the management of the club not to bring the players
* * * * * * * * * * * * *
Dont be so pessimistic, some big moves have been completed in January previously. Besides, Rennes are looking to get rid of Marveaux to avoid him leaving on a free in summer. In terms of Gervinho, even if he isn't coming in, there will be movement, we cannot continue like this, NESV know this, we need width and attacking play.

Ed any news on Roy? Kenny for manager? Not my 100% first choice but I'd have him over Roy anyday! {ed's note - nothing reliable, looks like we are stuck with him for a bit longer, though I can't see him surviving much longer unless results pick up.}

"Hi guys heard from a very good source that the board have decided to back Hodgson till the end of the season unfortunately! This is from yesterday's meeting.
They are unwilling to sack him and pay compensation as they would rather that money to to sent on players which Hodgson will have no control over.
Senior players are not very happy with Hodgsons tactics or training methods and first to leave in January will be Maxi from what I've heard.
Don't expect any big names arriving until at least the summer as NESV will not invest until we have a new manager! (Boas is first choice)

The source I heard this from has no reason to lie"

There's a clause in his contract than can last up to two years of a new ownership that will let the release him with minimal pay-off.

First of all, Hodgson has it written into his contract that if he is sacked within a certain period, we do not have to pay him any compensation, although i believe that the deadline for that is this evening.
When he signed he agreed that if the enw owners saw nessesary they could sack him up until midnight on 31/ 12 without paying compensation.
Even if this is not the case, why keep him, the players won't play, the fans won't back him, we will lose money if we keep him, big players would leave, we would lsoe revenue, we wouldn't get any decent players in, its a downward spiral if he stays.
I believe they will wield the axe, and i hope!

Is 2 better than 3? Is breathing space better than panic sack & appoint? Is Rafa better than Roy? If nesv answer yes to all three questions then the solution to their & our problem may be a simple but slightly painful one but only short-term.

Why have 3 managers in 6 months, only to appoint a fourth in the summer. Better to have 2. I believe Rafa would respond to an sos from nesv if they came knocking. Why could that be plausible? I think nesv know who they want as manager but will only get him in the summer. It's obvious Roy has blown it. If nesv panic and appoint now, they'll appoint second best. If they call on Rafa they have a coach that knows the players & the setup. If they said to Rafa 'you're here to the end of season only as caretaker, even if you have a measure of success. You have no input on transfers, no influence on any department in the club you just coach'. That could work & he'd do better than Roy. He's given a basic salary with win bonuses, and NO politic-ing.

It kills to birds with one stone. Rafa is available & in town. They can get rid of Roy & there is no massive upheaval as players know Rafa' hethods. Rafa puts himself in the shop window & stabilizes results. He walks away in the summer & nesv appoint their first choice.

As I said 2 is better than 3, breathing space is better than panic sack & appoint & Rafa IS better than Roy, particularly in the short-term.

But who is it nesv want to appoint? I'll let you know what I think later.

I heard from a usually reliable source that during the summer Torres wanted out and that a sort of "gentlemens agreement" was struck whereby if Liverpool failed to qualify for Champions League Football at the end of this season AND a bid of €50M was put on the table by a non-English club then he would be free to go. It looks like the first part will almost certainly come true - failing to qualify for CL - so if someone steps up to the mark in the summer with the money then we'll lose Torres.

Eds, hope you enjoyed christmas and happy new year to you. Thanks for your hard work over holidays.

What do you think the chances are that NESV MIGHT be looking at Bob Bradly as manager, the ex USA manager?

He is a free agent still right? They would raise the profile Premier League in USA by doing this aswell. He did wonders with the USA team, not saying I would be happy with him though.

Was just a thought and would like to know what you think about this.

Bazzaa. {ed's note - I really can't see Bradley as an option, he makes Hodgson look attack minded!}

Reports suggest Hodgson will be sacked this weekend should Liverpool fail to beat Bolton, with Liverpool being just three points above the relegation zone following the shock 1-0 defeat at home to Wolves, owner J W H knows that it makes little sense to spend money on new players during January if Hodgson is to be sacked shortly after.

So they won't fire him because the want to spend the money on transfers (even though Hodgson's compensation would be fairly insignificant as his contract is only two years), but at the same time they aren't going to heavily invest? That makes little to no sense

What is the point in all this Roy has the Bolton game to save his job? Does anyone else agree this is a totally pointless exercise? Even if we draw or somehow unexpectedly win, then he will more than likely not win at Blackburn or away to wolves or indeed the FA Cup match against the scum. So what happens then do NESV say right Roy not good enough were going to give you one more game to save your job (VICIOUS CIRCLE anyone?) Any most certainly one that's to the detriment of our Club.

If NESV want to make a stance do the right thing today, not tomorrow or keep giving this man lifelines, we have had 9 defeats in all competitions or more, his lifeline has well and truly ended at our club.

As for this rubbish about finding a replacement first, NONSENSE, like 99% of our supporters say, they would rather have their granny in charge than Roy, so I am sure there would be no problem getting a stand in for now, i would strongly believe the likes of Kenny, Thommo and Roy evans would step in and not even ask for a contract or to be paid for that matter, purely because the love our club, and its hurting so much watching this dross every week.

As far as i am aware he is an ambassador for Liverpool Fc, the same as Charlton for Mancs. {ed's note - yes but what exactly does that entail? I think that is what the guy was asking, and I am unsure of the answer. I know he helps convince signings to join us, but there must be more to it than that. Ed what do you think of the chances of Frank Rijkaard? Free agent and a good CV. I think him along with Guus Hiddink are the only managers who are truly good enough for us? Who won't play down the expectations of the club like Roy has. La Liga & European cup winner and also responsible for bringing players through like Messi. A friend of mine, who lives in Boston and is married to a girl who works for the NESN (only in a minor position but enough to hear the gossip!), just emailed me to say that the strong rumours circulating round her office is that the decision has been made to replace Hodgson and that discussions have take place about how to best make it happen. The rumours suggest no decision has yet been made on a new manager but that there has been a short list in place for some time and that a team will now be tasked with finding the right candidate and recruiting him. He says one thing that's a fact about Henry and Warner is they won't accept continued underperformance.

He has just managed to alienate the entire customer base of the club, to any business that is not a good thing to do.}

Cheers ed fingers crossed that he gets sacked, He really has damaged the club. Also, if he was sacked would a part time replacement be put in or the full time manager, and who would it be? {ed's note - the only reason Roy is there is that NESV have not found his replacement (or if they have he is not ready to leave the club he is at), so that means the most likely outcome is a caretaker in charge for a while.}
