seeing reports today linking Randall with Wigan and hector talks coming back to life. I know you must be sick of talking about hector but any truth in them?

Randall is a RB and Hector a LB. how are they related?

05 Aug 2016 06:55:44
He didn't say they were related did he?

He didn't say these rumours have been done to death either!

I thought the rumour was Brannagan to Wigan? I could be wrong though.

Yes the Randall to Wigan has been massively done to death.

Agree1 Disagree3

05 Aug 2016 21:30:45
Randall played the first half at RB and the second at LB v Wigan. He is a right back, but perhaps that's why Wignolet related the two transfer rumours.

Vermealen being linked again, cb and lb experience, seems a sensible move.

Believable2 Unbelievable33

Except for the fact that he's useless, injury prone and no pace. Just his agent trying to russle up interest for either a new contract or selling him to some gullible club like gala or besiktas. He's an appalling player with a miserable injury record.

Is sensible the correct word?

Agree12 Disagree4

04 Aug 2016 21:03:46
This must be BS, bloke's played about 10 games in 2 seasons?

Agree8 Disagree6

04 Aug 2016 22:09:35
Seems sensible to me, your just all negative Nigel's.

Yipster, your posts get more bizzare by the day? What would be sensible about signing Vermaelen?

Agree7 Disagree5

04 Aug 2016 23:39:48
Cover for Cb can play lb, premier league experience, he was Arsenals captain and then went Barca. he can't be a bad player. It shouldn't really need an explanation. You do no James milner is going to be lb at this rate?

Agree1 Disagree15

05 Aug 2016 00:31:33
He is also more injury prone than Sturridge and Agger. Surely no need for an explanation on this one either?

If Vermaelen is sensible to you then thank goodness the rest of us have brains and are able to think for ourselves.

You all said this when kolo came in, but he did a job.

Vermaeln has played 11 games since signing for Barcelona in 2014, he's been injured almost permanently for 2 years, how can anyone think this would be a good signing? I'd take him on loan and ask Barcelona to pay 110% of his salary so that we get some benefit of having him here.

Agree8 Disagree2

05 Aug 2016 09:34:24
But Yipster you want him to be our no.1 LB. Was Kolo our no.1 defender? so you want a player who is very susceptible to injury, so in essence Milner would probably play in that position anyway Yip?

Agree3 Disagree1

05 Aug 2016 09:54:40
@Yipster sorry you won't convince me Vermaelen is a good signing. I disagree with nearly every point you have made here. Why do we even need cover at CB? We have Klavan, Matip, Gomez, sakho, lovren, Lucas already.

Agree8 Disagree2

05 Aug 2016 16:26:58
I actually wanted Kolo here and was happy he stayed. vermaelen was always a poor defender and hasn`t completed 20 games in 2 years so again, your argument for liking this link is what?

Hi eds
E Bola In Portugal have been adamant that liverpool are after joao Mario.
Reporting today that we're going in with a second bid.
You guys have said no interest, no reliable journalist has even mentioned him this summer, so why do these people tarnish there reps if it isn't true? Or isit?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - This has all been dealt with already. Sporting priced Joao Mario out of a move to Napoli last summer and unless they look to price him more realistically nobody will be calling. There is interest from Atletico who have had an offer rejected, five clubs in England, Inter and PSG (who have had negotiations but price is the sticking point). Inter has shown serious interest and the player has made no secret of his desire to play in Italy with them. However, any move to Inter is difficult and they would need the Italian FA to approve the plan of the owners to route the transfer through Jiangsu Suning and then a loan - this they think avoids an FFP issue but may be viewed as an abuse and with the transfer window closed nothing can now happen this summer. Chelsea see the price as far too high and the player stating he wants to join Inter is enough for them to step away for now. PSG also see the price as too high and have backed away from negotiations. Liverpool did not make a firm offer but enquired and discussed, through a third party, the sort of figure they thought would be acceptable - but they took their money and spent it elsewhere. His "agent" would like him to move - and to be honest that is simply because of the money.}

I think he has a release clause of 43 million and they won't settle for anything less so we can put this one to bed.

Any update on Benteke eds . Reports tonight say Sunderland any truth in that.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - there is a fair bit of interest but his wages remain a sticking point.}

04 Aug 2016 11:52:11
Do you think we will have him offloaded this summer?

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - hopefully. I think so, yes.}

04 Aug 2016 11:56:18
Okay thanks. I would personally have took 25mil and run for benteke haha.

Agree6 Disagree4

04 Aug 2016 15:55:49
We need to get both Benteke and Balotelli sold off. That's a large amount of capital investment coming back and a lot of wages saved. Makes a difference over a season. Really hope the club gets it done.

Agree6 Disagree1

04 Aug 2016 18:22:37
seems to be the case that wages is the sticking point, the palace deal was apparently scuppered due to Benteke wanting something like 140K - which when you consider what he'd getting for sitting on his rear end here he seems to have little push to take what Palace offered.

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Aug 2016 20:46:29
To this day I don´t understand why we offered Benteke such a high wage. Presumably he would have taken the same wage he was getting a Villa?! I would take a wage cut to leave Villa for Liverpool.

Agree3 Disagree0

04 Aug 2016 23:18:05
I guess the wages reflect the moment in time. He was don't forget pretty decent for Vila and often destroyed our defence. He was one of Belgiums first choice strikers, Belguim were no.1 in the world (somehow? Stupid Fifa rankings) . He was a regular decent scorer in the Prem and under 25yrs old. It was a big move, for a big player and therefore bigger wages.

Don't get me wrong, we are awful with money and often pay more then we should, but this was just to give an answer to why.

Agree3 Disagree1

04 Aug 2016 23:49:44
Ed001 may well correct me here, but I expect wages demands to be the remit of the player's agent who's job it is to get the best deal for their client.
