Any new news on filip djuricic? Looks like a quality player with a fantastic future.

Also is there any real possibility of bringing Joel Pohjanpalo to Anfield?

Thanks

I think Pohjanpalo broke his foot in training yesterday and will be out for 3 months. It was in morning's newspaper here in Finland.

Evening Gents,

An update I have received from a reliable source on Liverpool transfer targets:

The owners have been quiet since Tom Werner's comments regarding "putting a smile on Liverpool fans in January" and since that Rodgers has come out to dampen speculation which is a directive given from Ian Ayre ans he wants to avoid paying a premium in the Winter window for players due to the relative clubs charging an excess when they believe LFC have a substantial budget:

Our first move will be concluded on 8th Jan- A striker being the priority- The dutch league and EPL are the only two leagues we are currently scouting for this position.

Our second move is aimed to be concluded by the 3rd week of January and will be a part exchange - I suspect this will be Stewart Downing but awaiting confirmation and unlikely to receive this. (I am hoping and praying this will be for Walcott).

We are aiming for one final addition and the owners will be visiting on the last week of January so expect this to be our premier signing and concluded before deadline day but I understand the visit is arranged for the 26th onwards.

Liverpool WILL spend 60m on players brought in this window - albeit some as player + deals!

**** I will share more when I have it but WATCH THIS SPACE!! ****

Kev H YNWA

Could you please be more specific on the time, location and maybe the weather forecast for the days that these deals are to happen, otherwise it will be hard for me to take your information seriously...

Alan Partridge

I didn't know whether to stop rolling on the floor with laughter or not trying to read this.......

we are NOT going to spend 60 bloody million and they would rather get the transfers over and done with ASAP so we don't have to wait extra time for them to blend into the squad. also why leave the best signing till last? what happens if another club is interested in the same player and buys him on say the 24th?

if it was me, I would get the best signing out the way first, THEN it will look like we have no money left, and we wont have to spend oto on other players ;)

BUT!!! if this is not bullshizzle
then well done..... none of the above is going to happen now as somebody (you) has released there plans, BRAVOO

Can never believe this kind of stuff really, but I hope this is true. Would mean 3 additions to the squad, and presumably some squad/dead weight moving on.

£60mil on 3 players;

Dries Mertens
Andre Shurrle
Alexandre Pato

I would go for those 3

WOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!

When something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is...

If the Dutch and EPL are the only leagues we are currently scouting for a striker i will bunji jump naked from the Kop roof grab a hat with my teeth and eat it. BillyMc.

What source is this mate? Heinz tomato? Sorry but this is a load of ballacks.

How can you possibly know the exact dates they will join? I can smell someone stirring up some b.s!

Well, this does sound like BS but lets all be honest.... its exactly the sort of BS we all love this site for and the reason we check it obsessively. Congratulations Kev you win rumour post of the day!

05 Dec 2012 00:35:41
Huntelaar is definetly a target according to Macca, and he's German league.

I thought you said Ian Ayre wants to avoid paying a premium in the Winter window for players due to the relative clubs charging an excess when they believe LFC have a substantial budget: Well you've blown it now! everyone knows our secret now you silly boy

Any idea what the lotto numbers are for tonight.Tommy Irish Red

None of those names will bring a smile to my face. Xabi Alonso would.xx

So we wait until the end of the window to complete our reinforcing. It's not like we're in any great need is it.

Can Henry or Werner only sign one cheque a week or something?

Just goes to show you should never drink and type at the same time.

In Response to the mass attention my last post received:

As I stated last week the English and Dutch league were CURRENTLY the only two leagues we were scouting for the first target- a striker.

Things mover incredibly quick in football, and even more so in business so that simply means our scouting network at the time of posting was concentrating on those two divisions at the time!

Huntelaar is a realistic target but expect him to stay with Schalke until Summer.

There was no light shed on the "premier target" nor was there any specific on a player - simply my hope that Downing will be a part exchange.

60 million spend including a current part exchange is not excessive- stop limiting your mindsets to just the transfer fee paid. Example a Downing exit would mean 5million+ saved on the 2 years left on his contract, the 10+ million value for his signature. (There is 15 million alread) Just an example of course.

Premier player simply means the one the fans will be most pleased with. So with multiple rumours regarding a Xabi Return, why would this not be a possibility at the close of the window rather than the start?

STOP criticising and think before you type. Nothing has been divulged to "blow the owners plans" ...

Keep faith kopites I am telling you 3x signings and 26th Jan a visit from the owners.

ED- can you confirm the scheduled visit of TM and/or JH?

Kev H YNWA {Ed052's Note - I dont think any of us know when the owners will be here mate]

evening Eds , do you no of any intrest from us in eric lamela ? do you also think he would be a good signing if we could get him ? cheers

REDAN {Ed001's Note - I don't know of any interest, nor do I know if he would be a good signing as I have not watched him play in a couple of years now.}

Funny i was thinking the same thing... he is good 8 goals this season for roma
vivek 12011

I've tried the search function, but to no avail. I was just wondering if anyone has been looking at Spartak Moscow's Emmanuel Emineke? He's very pacey, can finish and still has room to grow being only just turned 25-years-old.

I doubt it, he's currently being investigated for match-fixing with calls for him to be handed a three-year jail sentence.

Fifa syndrome.
whos next
Seydou Doumbia
Welliton

He's got a match fixing scandal cloud hanging over his head

Lets get Ogbonna, Felipe Santanta and Doumbia while we're at it.

hi eds i hear reina will be goin to arsenal as part of the walcott deal mite not be a bad idea since reina never looks happy to be playing at liverpool nomore!

Would you do the deal if you were the manager, cause i certainly wouldn't.

BigD

So, to clarify, he is happy to be playing here still?

TSP

At least that makes sense. The Downing rumour is nonsensical.

Walcott could go on a free in the summer, so we will offer a £20M goalkeeper as part of a transfer deal in January? I dont think so mate.

Lee73

Well i think it would be a good deal reina hasent been playing well for a while now an brad jones has done well when been called upon! jay

Sorry lee reina is not worth 20million pounds he makes to many mistakes an never looks happy to be at liverpool he mite of been worth 20million 4 years ago not now tho!

2 clean sheets in his last 3 games and hes "not playing well"?....

Os Red

How many mistakes does he make through out the season tho Os Red?

Os Red,

He may have kept 2 clean sheets in the last 3 games but how many world class saves? He made a decent save from a shot by Ricky Lambert from about 45 yars out and a couple of decent blocks against Swansea. He also let in one after 88 minutes against Young Boys that went straight down his throat. Top and bottom of it is, his form has been pretty poor for the past 18 months.

Scouser Tommy

04 Dec 2012 17:50:09
Ed001, I know you cant give a definitive yes but do you think we'll be signing Joel Pohjanpalo? I know he's been on trials and just curious if you had heard anything new? Thanks.

phillyred {Ed002's Note - Borussia Monchengladbach have put an offer on the table for Pohjanpalo and I understand that Rubin Kazan, Bayer Leverkusen and Napoli are still very keen. I am not at all convinced about the reported interest from Liverpool.}

Thanks for the quick reply ed2, appreciate it.

Ed the reported interest? the kid had a trial at liverpool {Ed001's Note - he means recent interest. The trial was under a completely different regime.}

04 Dec 2012 16:51:45
Llorente has confirmed he will leave Bilbao on june 30th on a free transfer.

Levon - 69

Now he is top class,a great player,i would love too see him come too us,but cant see it,but xmas is coming up so you never know.jay essex red for life red till dead

04 Dec 2012 16:46:11
Hey Eds. I've been watching the bundesliga for quite some time now and there's a player which has caught my eye. Roberto firminio of hoffenhiem who are under performing. Any chance of him coming liverpool?
Cheers, Dv {Ed002's Note - Can't see it.}

04 Dec 2012 15:48:53
wait till you hear the latest ,i laughed when iwas told this ,but come to think of it iwould snap there hands off if its true,,that sunderland have offered 5mill plus conar wickham for downing ,unever know ,,more than likely rubbish but heres hoping IRISH RED

Wickham ham is rubbish

Posted something like this to eds the other day regarding sunderland players. I know some one very much in the know there. Said they were looking to get rid off wickham as oneill and the coaches don't rate him. Martin loved the members of the villa squad he coached. This doesn't at all surprise me. Although i heard 2 weeks ago they were preferable giving wickham to a championship side.

Any way. I would believe your informant to be pretty reliable as it stands

Take the £5m and tell them they can keep Wickham. Every time Downing plays his value drops a little bit more.

Wickham is quality and needs the right team . Sunderland are going nowhere fast so it is hard to perform great with that team. I would bite there hands off for a straight swap let alone plus 5 mill

I'd rather have wickham than downing
LP

Nah just 5 million wickham cant even get in sunderlands team never mind liverpools adam morgans better than wickham!

04 Dec 2012 15:45:43
sorry if you've already dealt with this rumpr before eds, but apparently Lucas may be on the scope of Madrid, Barca and Milan, who are all weighing up an offer (this is speculation; 35-40M Euros) with a 100K + salary offer in the summer.

Would hate to lose him. He's our rock!

Ha. Why would Madrid or Barcelona want Lucas

04 Dec 2012 16:55:49
Hes injury prone and cant play half a season

$35 - 40 million Euros? Whatever!

Injury prone? He's had an unlucky knee injury and then on his return got injured which can happen once your out for so long.Once he is match fit there is no reason he should pick up another injury, touch wood. Other than that he has never been injured!!

Lucas isn't injury prone. No holding midielder is going to go for a some of over £25 million. They don't provide enough to merit that price tag

I really don't rate him. never did and if they were offering us that amount i think they would be stupid not to take it.. could get players much much than him for that..

04 Dec 2012 19:37:08
Lucas Moura ?

I know Lucas and know for a fact that he wants to stay at Liverpool for at least another 3 to 4 years.He WILL move to a top Spanish team unless we are in the CL and competing to win it. Lucas will be worth double that amount in 3 years. Lucas' mate.

35-40 m...i'd pay 4 his flight my self!!

Brendan Rogers has challanged Nuri Sahin to start proving himself at Liverpool after a poor start. Liverpool looking unlikely to pursue a permanent deal for him. Real Madrid will look to move him on in the summer, probably for a lot less than they'd hoped for.

Brian Fantana

Waste of money. Even Henderson is above Sahin in pecking order now

Technically he is talented but he is so slow its scary

Lots of players take time to adjust. I like him he's a good footballer.
kidmillions

Agree with this. He's got cement boots on during games.

~Fresh

Takes a while for a player to settle. Hes only started a handful of games.
So far in the cup, 1 appearance 2 goals, 7 premier league appearances, a goal and a few assists. I dont think he should be below Henderson, but maybe Rogers is seeing something in training that we arent seeing. But he cant prove himself if hes not playing regularly.

Yes and his package, to include signing on fee, relocation costs and top up to cover the different tax regimes, reportedly equates to £225k a week!

Ozone

Don't forget alonso took half a season to settle ,think he will come good .

He was by far the best player vs young boys the other week. I was watching him throughout the game, he fought for every ball, played good passes that spread the play, knew how to draw players out of position and plays with great innovation. Has huge potential and, as has already been mentioned, has barely featured. Rodgers is making mistakes in playing downing and hendo above Suso and Sahin.

Its not a matter of settling in its a matter of his amazing ability to look like he is walking when chasing a player....
but saying that who saw Gerrard at the beginning of the season, he was way off pace, it was the cause of him getting a yellow card for England
but look at him now, he has got a lot quicker (or am I just imagining all this)

but in all seriousness I like Sahin, he has got a great pass, excellent touch and can score goals.... it is a shame about his pace though it is a major let down

04 Dec 2012 22:27:48
what a load of tosh, the only midfielder that needs to prove himself is Allen he started well but now hes very poor, he needs dropping

He's played better than downing but that doesn't stop BR from playing HIM most games does it.

Given the type of football BR wants the team to play,it shouldn't matter about pace. That's not what ball retention and breaking down defenses is about. Look at the possession squads of the past and present and look for pace,there really isn't much.

Mata,silva,iniesta,xavi,alonso...none have speed to burn off opposition. Look at arsenals squads of the past the midfield wasn't pacey but it was strong and kept the ball well viera pires bergkamp(they did use height well)

It takes time to adapt to a new system. As long as we can get players playing it,pace won't matter a damn when we have 67% posession and break teams down mentally and physically shatter them chasing a ghost.

We have no agreement with Madrid over a permanent move for Sahin. in my understanding, Jose wanted Sahin to toughen up in the prem league because he's a bit of a lightweight. In his opinion, Liverpool were a great club to go to on loan. There is no clause for an automatic bid. Jose has previously stated that he expects Sahin back (provided jose does not leave Real in the summer) in the real squad for next season.

Probably trying to get his value down to secure his services in the summer.
-=Solar=-

I agree with the Allen comment. He's known for his passing but it's ordinary if you ask me. Gerrard Sahin and Suso are technically better and I have to say Lucas looked back to his awsome best at the weekend no nonsense, break down play and pass it out. Allen wouldn't get in my first 11 he brings nothing like Borini

04 Dec 2012 14:36:26
Hello,

I have been in Liverpool this weekend gone, watching the Liverpool and Southampton game, and heard alot of rumours from reliable sources who are involved with the club.
I mentioned a few names (Walcott, Dzeko, Bent to name couple) and all I got back was laughter..... I asked why do you laugh, and the people said you are way off the mark!! We shall not be getting any players who are currently playing in the Champions League, nor will we be getting Walcott, Sturridge or Bent. Rodgers is looking abroad for deals. He wants to bring in ATLEAST 3 PLAYERS, including 2 strikers and a defensive midfielder as cover for Lucas, allowing Allen to play in his natural position.
There won't be any big names, including the lad from Schalke, Huntalaar. Rodgers is looking for a striker who can come straight in, and play the football he wants, ideally from Spain.
So keep a close eye on players from Spain, who you may think be heading for England.

YNWA 96

Yeah we REALLY need another midfielder don't we?

The Plank

If Hendo and downing leave then another midfielder will probably be needed........just a thought!

A defensive one yes we really do

We don't need anymore midfielders

We absolutely need a backup DM for Lucas. What has been more obvious the last year?

Where do people hear this stuff on a vist to liverpool, i have lived in liverpool All my life, go to every game and never met any 1 other than people in the pub talking about who we would like us to sign

Sorry but I Think you just made that up because I am certain the club is interested in taking Walcott and Sturridge

Shak Attack

I believe from your post you are inferring allen has played the anchor of the 3 midfielders.......This is very wrong,that has been Gerrard. Allen has been playing on the left of centre. He's just put in several pi#s poor performances.
We need another anchor for lucas rotation, rest, injury etc. I can't see why people will have laughed about walcott even with champs league,footy in Jan,he's still going on a free if he doesn't sign a new deal,same with KJH, i you don't sign you get sold or released....the people you met are clearly persons

Why do we need another DM when we can convert Hendo into one? Just a gentle reminder, Scott Parker.

Pity he wasn't thinking of Spain in the Summer. He could have landed Michiu for 2m, instead he spunked 27m on Allen and Borini, with possibly another 12m on Sturridge, the mind boggles

kzee

I have the exact same conversations day in day out with a bloke at work.

04 Dec 2012 13:37:06
hi eds theres rumours goin round we will bid for diame of west ham i think he would be a great signing!

Yet great signing if we would have got him for free when we ha the chance in the summer. No chance.
Redrooster

Where do you get this tripe from??

Yeah i agree he would of been great cover for lucas or allen why do liverpool always miss out on the bargings

He would of been a great signing had we got him for nothing in the summer

There's no rumours, just made up BS on .com

04 Dec 2012 12:37:30
What do you make of sturidges agents comments eds? I would of thought he would of denied the link with Liverpool along with the demands, could be a sign we are in negotiations? Cheers.
Redgrant {Ed002's Note - I have no knowledge of what he agent has said. I have explained the situaion with Sturridge on plenty of occasions.}

He's made some comments today about him not having the demands that ate being quoted in the press and that is situation is being dealt with behind closed doors

The poster is telling you of new comments apparently from Sturridge's advisors.... and to the poster, yes it does look like we are in negotiations as if what has just been said is true, there was no denial. Not sure whether to be happy or not with Sturridge really. I know he's young with potential and really could be very good, but i think it's because i wouldnt trust his commitment to our club, 100% commited in my book, or nothing.

Strabs

Ed take a look at sly sports for the report {Ed002's Note - Did he say anything to disagree with what I said?}

With all our scouts, is London really the furthest they can go? In fact they can stay at home for that and turn a website on to watch Chelsea. Much better players out there and cheaper than him.
sired

04 Dec 2012 11:29:53
Eds,

-Any truth that Liverpool interested in Danny Rose? He played quite good on -loan. How much his value? Young and defence also good. He and Jack Robo can be our future left-back.

-Seydou Doumbia rumor looks to cool down. Any chance we are going to sign him? Is he in our lmited budget?

Thanks Eds.

Harkin. YNWA. {Ed002's Note - (1) Not that I am aware. (2) I am not aware of any such rumour, sorry.}

04 Dec 2012 12:05:14
Hi Eds,

what are the wages that Walcott it asking for and do you think Liverpool could afford to pay them?
(IF and when a deal becomes possible)

thanks,

redkenyan {Ed001's Note - 100k and we pay Gerrard a significant amount over 100k, so clearly we could afford it. The problem is that we can't afford to then give every other player a pay rise to bring them in line with Walcott's earnings.}

I rather split that 100k between 2 international rw/rm's

Yes they can afford his wages could do with getting Rid of joe cole! what he gets paid will sort walcotts wages out!

04 Dec 2012 13:51:50
He has asked arsenal for 90k a week they have put a new offer of 80k on the table. Time will tell if either party will budge. Cheers ravenrudeboy

I don't think we will give a player that sort of wage atm. Gerrard deserved that amount at his best and will show everyone he is still a fantastic player in BR's team. aklfc

Walcott is good, but he is not worth 100k a week.

Wht a waste of money

100k ........... no way dont deserve that.. 70 tops

04 Dec 2012 11:17:08
"Ukrainian international Artem Milevskiy is the latest striker to be linked with the Merseyside giants as Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is set to strengthen his squad in this January transfer window." Any truth Eds? {Ed001's Note - I don't know mate sorry.}

You can believe this sort of thing, because it's so far out of left field. I don't give daily rag journo's this much credit, myself.

04 Dec 2012 12:58:42
I hope not because he's rubbish

Someones being playing too much football manager

Look at the last ukranian striker we signed. We got him for nothing and he was still regarded as a waste of money. Enough said.

The pony-tailed destroyer.

The last Ukranian striker we signed "faked" illness/injury and appeared in a pub, caught red-handed by his present club.

It's in quotes because it's not from FM but from a newswire. I've never played games and the post was merely a question to the Eds about the story and whether there's any truth in it, not a statement manufactured in my mind for some bizarre satisfaction.

By the way, I agree with the first reply...I try not to give these sort of journalistic rumours and stories the light of day but this one was so far out of left field that I had to ask the Eds.

04 Dec 2012 10:50:31
Liverpool will make a final contract offer of around £40,000 (that's including appearance fee. £35k basic weekly salary)to Raheem Sterling and if he rejects it he will then be offered around clubs for £18-25mil.

Nigel

He is 18 on thursday, he has not been offered a contract yet for that very reason!

i don't know how many times the ed's or others have had to correct people. bloody hell.

lfc_7

18-25m for Sterling? haha good one!

So you mean he will be offered around for £18M. Who (other than us) would be stupid enough to be offered a player between 2 values and opt to the pay the higher price?

Tommy Walsh

Carroll 35 mill and you laugh at 18-25 for sterling?

What absolute rubbish. if he doesnt sign a new contract, he cant be offered to clubs at a specific value, especially one as ridiculous as 18-25mil. he is free to sign for whomever he chooses with a tribunal setting the fee. would be around the 5 million mark most likely

We cannot ask any fee for him.
-=Solar=- {Ed001's Note - yes we can, he is under contract.}

04 Dec 2012 08:43:42
Morning Eds and Reds...

Since Sterling's birthday is on the 8th this month do we think he will sign a full contract then?

I think this could be the boost the fans and club needs before going into the difficult Christams period amd January transfer window.

Arguably like the summer the most important signing this January could be a key player signing a long term contract.

Cheers

Kenny the Red {Ed001's Note - he certainly won't sign before then, I doubt he will sign immediately either, I am sure he will want to be enjoying his big day rather than sat in an office signing contracts.}

He can then legally go for a pint!

After the year he's had, he will be able to be given champagne for man of the match performances intead of bottles of Coke.
Scouse_Pride

But Ed001, surely signing a contract with Liverpool for a long term has to be one of the biggest birthday present ever. Haha.

KrishnaYNWA {Ed001's Note - I would agree, but I don't think players see it in the same way as us fans do.}

04 Dec 2012 08:40:25
Hey Ed is it true Liverpool have begun negotiations with Gomis? {Ed001's Note - I don't know of any negotiations, we have certainly had scouts watch Lyon repeatedly this season.}

I just hope it was to watch Lovren. He is the only decent player in that team.

Alexandre Lacazette?

04 Dec 2012 08:12:24
Hi eds will darren bent be coming to liverpool in a straight swap for downing? {Ed001's Note - I am bored of saying no to this insanity.}

Theres a good chance tho eds {Ed001's Note - is there? Why? Because we have never shown any interest in him, despite the lies in the paper. He has been looked at a few times and every time decided against, because he simply isn't what we want.}

Yeah i think theres a good chance with downing going back to villa we havent got loads of money to spend we will see in january he may even come on loan!

Great response Ed001. It still amazes me after all these years that people still talk about player exchanges.

RedLube {Ed001's Note - I guess it must work well on video games and people struggle to tell reality from fantasy at times.}

I respect your opinion but i will bring this story up again if he signs in january

Why would we send Downig out hes consistant and deserves a game up frunt with Lewis

Downing couldent hit a barn door with a machine gun

04 Dec 2012 07:30:45
Any interest from any club in Adrian Ramos of heartha berlin. Seems like a good player.

04 Dec 2012 11:23:19
worst striker i have ever seen makes bendtner look like fowler

04 Dec 2012 07:16:25
Hey eds. sorry if uve already answered it but struggling in the search function.
Let's hope sterling has some sense and signs a contract with us when he turns 18. If he doesn't, does that mean we sell him? Or it means he is free to sign with any club, and we're left with one less key player in our squad with no money to show for it? Thanks a lot gents.

Kelzie {Ed002's Note - He is still contracted to Liverpool so it means very little in the short term unless he wishes to leave or the club wish to sell.}

So ed do you think he will sign a contract {Ed002's Note - I don't see any reason to think that he won't.)

04 Dec 2012 06:26:31
Hi eds,

Recently i watched Bundesliga and saw a good striker in Fc Mainz 05 who is in hot form ~ Adam Szalai.

Personally, I think that he perfectly fits Brendan Rogers system. Is there any possibility to bring him to Anfield.

Reds_Jacky {Ed002's Note - There is no known interest from Liverpool.}

We need a 20 goal a season player we cant afford to be taking risks on players who nobody knows!

04 Dec 2012 04:03:20
Hi eds, i jus wanna kno y is sturridge being left out of the chelsea squad? Before the match the reason for players left out were given as injury but oly for sturridge it is given always as "unspecified". Does it mean he is in talks wit a move to liverpool? Cos our official site says that Rodgers 1st transfer target it Daniel Sturridge. Many say sturridge is not the perfect player for liverpool. Under Rodgers he wil be. He has gud skill, technique and creativity and thats what v lack in the attacking wings. He can become more of a team player under Rodgers. Am i r8 frnz? {Ed002's Note - Sturridge has had a hamstring problem but is back in training.}
