Hi eds.
Rumours surfacing about our interest in Alisson Becker.
Any truth?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - For January? Certainly others are keen.}

04 Jan 2018 21:01:53
yes ed the reports say winter window i no you have said teams don't want to sell gk in jan but will roma let him go early? thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I don't see why Roma would entertain him leaving now. Liverpool have four PL goalkeepers already. There is interest from elsewhere.}

04 Jan 2018 21:28:14
thought so ed they did suggest we would let dan ward leave if we got him now and that we no psg want him in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 21:53:54
Would they consider a player swap. Mignolet, Karius or Ward (or even all 3) for Allisson?

Agree7 Disagree6

05 Jan 2018 06:15:38
Should we consider Arda turan, Rafinha and Gomes or the three for Coutinho Kewell Aussies? We can't just go to a team and dump players we don't need for their key player.

Agree2 Disagree7

05 Jan 2018 08:55:48
Think Kewell was saying it tongue in cheek.

Agree7 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 09:00:42
Anyone seen much of Alisson? he's Brazil’s number 1 which bodes well as he’s in front of Ederson who looks fantastic at City but he was also reserve to Szczney last season. Although I do think Szczney is a good keeper.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Jan 2018 09:05:49
Player exchanges are very few and far between now. Not sure many managers will be a fan of them either
Liverpool have had a few in the past and not worked out well to say the least.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 20:33:22
So yet again we are chasing a player (Lemar) whos club have said is not for sale! I hope we have something else up our sleeve else its only going to end one way.

Believable5 Unbelievable12

04 Jan 2018 20:47:18
Same way as Keita and VVD?

Agree30 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 03:54:22
so would you propose we only chase players that are for stated for sale? the fact those clubs want rid of them is that the level of player we should be aiming for?

Agree11 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 10:11:55
Ed002 rightly says that all players have a price and are transient employees. So I am sure that if we approached Monaco with a sizeable offer they would accept,

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It would need to be very sizable. They are a very, very wealthy club.}

05 Jan 2018 10:40:50
Asking from an uneducated position, as I don’t recall ever having seen him play, but is he actually worth the sizeable offer it would take to get him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He is untested in the Premier League and would be a risk - but he is clearly talented - hence why so many clubs are interested in him.}

05 Jan 2018 10:51:45
All clubs say there players aren't for sale, only last window where they actually honest xD
But don't forget i’m sure they accepted a bid from Arsenal in the summer for him.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 22:43:21
Ultimately if you want to play on a par with the big boys you have to do what they do and go for the best players regardless of whether or not they are available. Abd in this day and age it seems most are whether or not their clubs realise it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Breaking!

News coming from Anfield that LFC have had a 65M bid for Lemar rejected!
Is this true?

Believable2 Unbelievable15

04 Jan 2018 19:43:13
Pretty sure we will offer 92 mil plus one pound if anything there mate.

Agree5 Disagree3

04 Jan 2018 20:02:14
Monaco coach
Jardim
“The club will not be selling anyone this window”
As ed 2 has said it would tak an astronomical fee to get them to alter their stance .
I think the best we can hope for as fans is a deal for Lemar to be put into motion for the summer even if phil goes in January .

Agree7 Disagree1

04 Jan 2018 20:08:46
I don't think agreeing a move for the summer would work either for monaco.

They have only continued to put the price up window on window with Lemar. After the world cup they will prob demand even more and if France win it which they could this will only add to the fee.

Personally I think the Lemar deal if it comes off will be a bit like the VVD deal. LFC will be forced to pay a little more for the player if it is the one klopp wants.

If it happens I think like Southampton named a price we will ask Monaco what the price is and they will give a take it or leave it.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 20:33:36
Can’t see us getting him for £65m. Aside from them not wanting to sell, we have just paid £75m for VVD and they will see Lemar as more valuable, and it won’t have escaped their notice we are about to get a huge fee for Couts. I think £90+m and we might stand a chance of changing their stance (I don’t like talking about money either Ed’s)

Agree3 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 16:11:51
i keep reading reports lfc are interested in Riyad Mahrez if pc goes. any truth in this?

Believable6 Unbelievable15

04 Jan 2018 16:36:17
Zero interest. It seems to be Lemar only at the minute.

Agree7 Disagree2

04 Jan 2018 17:25:11
Lemar will not come to lfc nor mahrez. I think no more new arrival till summer even if pip goes.

Agree9 Disagree18

04 Jan 2018 17:27:26
Its from twitter. Some guy called graeme kelly has had a few things right over the summer. He now reckons we will go for Mahrez as a replacement for now, and Lemar anyway in the summer. Mahrez makes sense because he would be eligible for CL. Definitely adds quality and a bit of magic. I don't know what to believe anyway, but I am a Mahrez fan for sure.

Agree9 Disagree9

04 Jan 2018 17:31:01
My matet has just text me saying mahrez aswell. and looked at betting odds and we’ve gone from 10/ 1 to 2/ 1 faves . he’s a right winger tho so I don’t see it happening unless he plays midfield aswell. I’m stumped 🤔. I think we’re just linked with every tom dick and harry and is all just speculation. Would any of you be happy with mahrez?

Agree4 Disagree5

04 Jan 2018 17:33:48
Even if your nickname is negative, I have to say that I am also thinking no one is joining, if Phil leaves. Would actually be pretty OK (my opinion, obviously) if we could get Keita in though, since we're lacking a number 8, been like that ever since Stevie left, I was hopeful Henderson could fill those shoes, but sadly that's not the case.

Agree1 Disagree4

04 Jan 2018 17:40:04
I know that this may sound like heresy, but I'd have Berkley from Everton as the number 10 if and when Coutinho moves on.
It would never happen but I do like the player, and he'd be a cracking signing, for me.

Agree0 Disagree18

{Ed025's Note - wow, he is a lazy little git with ideas above his station juicer, needs to get away from the city as his crew and hangers on are ruining his career mate..

04 Jan 2018 17:48:25
Mahrezs can have a bad attitude, but I'd take him. He could provide the magic when we need it, can play centrally or wide, and hoepfully klopp could sort him out.

Agree8 Disagree6

04 Jan 2018 18:29:34
Another thing mahrez has won the premier league an was a key member in that squad he has vision pace technique an quality plus qualifys too play in champs league I think it's a smart move he is quite like benayoun was.

Agree0 Disagree7

{Ed025's Note - like benayoun hailstones?...is that a plus or negative mate?..

04 Jan 2018 18:46:49
I wouldn’t look to bring in Mahrez and I don’t think Klopp would either, the only similar attribute to Coutinho he would bring is his poor attitude.

Agree5 Disagree8

04 Jan 2018 18:51:50
Mahrez is bang average at best. Had one really good season and that’s it. Selling Coutinho and bringing in mediocrity like Mahrez would be typical of us.

Agree2 Disagree8

04 Jan 2018 18:59:20
Mahrez is far from mediocre.

Agree14 Disagree6

04 Jan 2018 19:02:28
Yeah our transfer dealings have been terrible the last couple of seasons, VVD, Keita, Ox, Salah, Mane, will this madness never end!

Agree18 Disagree1

04 Jan 2018 19:31:07
Dennis, Mahrez is not mediocre lol!

I know he has struggled a bit since (not surprising in that Leicester team! ) but he is still the same lad who won player of the year and got 30+ goals and assists.

By definition, Mahrez cannot be mediocre. I think with some guidance he could be very useful.

Just look at how Salah has transformed this season in our system. The system a side plays is very important.

Agree7 Disagree5

04 Jan 2018 19:32:18
Mahrez is like going back to Downing, Cole, Adam Etc. Simply not good enough.

Agree6 Disagree15

04 Jan 2018 19:42:03
Navy, Salah isn’t comparable at all to Mahrez. Salah has had one bad period in his career at Chelsea. Other than that, he was and has always been a consistent and top notch player at Basle, Fiorentina and Roma. Mahrez has literally had one really good season and that’s it. He simply is not good enough to replace Coutinho and would be a massive waste of money.

Agree4 Disagree7

04 Jan 2018 20:00:04
Mahrez is quality that’s not opinion that’s fact. One of the best dribblers in league, can pull some great tricks out of the hat and would help regain some of those long distance goals. At we will lose with Coutinho going. He’d probably be far cheaper than most other options, he’s far better than Lanzini. The only issues would be where would he play? Can we put it in his contract that he sorts his hair out?

Agree7 Disagree2

04 Jan 2018 20:15:43
Being better than Lanzini is not a reason to sign a player. We’re talking about replacing one of most effective attacking midfielders in the league with a hit and miss winger who is not a top class player by any stretch, he’s an average premier league player who has not been consistent during his career and would represent one of the worst ways to spend money since we offered Newcastle £35m for Carroll. It’s Deja vu, we seem to do this every time we sell a top player for stupid money. The process is sell top class player (Torres, Suarez, Coutinho and Stirling to a degree), then over pay on an average player and hope for the best (See Carroll, Markovic, Balotelli Etc) .

Agree2 Disagree6

04 Jan 2018 20:27:50
I’m pretty sure average players don’t win the PFA player of the year award. If Klopp wants him that’s good enough for me.

Agree12 Disagree1

04 Jan 2018 20:42:27
Personally I don't think Mahrez can fill Coutinho's magic boots but Klopp has steered us true so far.

Trust him completely.

Agree8 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 20:50:37
What is the point of keeping a player who doesn't want to play for the club? . As for mahrez being average lmao do me a favour Dennis.
Coutinho is a very good player but not bigger than the club an if he stays could cause problems in the dressing room. Whether we go for lemar or mahrez one thing is for sure they will at least want to play for the Red shirt not throw their dummy out an fake injuries.

Agree6 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 20:52:34
Mahrez can dribble, score, find a pass, some of you are even comparing him to downing? Barring a poor attitude (which mane is guilty of prior to joining) he’s a great player. I would rather have Lemar but barring Lemar Mahrez is better and more realistic than what a lot of you have suggested. Lanzini? Barkley? Mahrez is a class above.

Agree6 Disagree1

04 Jan 2018 21:21:08
If we plan on playing 3 rw then mahrez would be perfect.

Hahaha ed mate get ya blue tinted shades off Yossi was sound for us an definitely for West ham an in Spain I am sure a lot of our fans have a soft spot for him.

{Ed025's Note - i was never a fan to be honest hailstones, a poor mans peter beardsley for me mate..

04 Jan 2018 16:00:18
Have not seen this posted and did search, when I got home from work I saw the worst rumour ever.

Apparently we have offered Coutinho a new contract to try and keep him at least until summer.
Bumper pay and CAPTAINCY promise? Please stay, we'll make you captain. Seriously? 😂
On the 0.0000001% chance this is true, have you heard anything of the sort?
Seems like the most ridiculous bit of journalism to me 😂.

04 Jan 2018 16:47:02
Brilliant rumour though. No chance it's real.

Agree2 Disagree3

04 Jan 2018 17:27:16
It was never about money or the clubs commitment and trust in him. He's been here for about five years, and won about **** all. He had his head turned by Barcelona and the glamour, fame and fortune.

Agree5 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 18:47:43
I imagine it’s complete garbage.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 15:23:44
Ed002 I know you said we're looking at Lemar as a possible replacement for couts. but with you're inside info do you believe Lemar will sign for us or you hearing he's going to opt for another team. ? Sorry I'm asking this it's just I got a gut feeling you know more than you let on😂 . oh and happy new year to you all aswell.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There are a number of sides interested in Lemar and as I have explained a couple spoke with Monaco on the evening of December 10 at a social gathering and were told they had no interest in selling the player. Michael Emanalo has, as I explained earlier, said there were no offers on the table from Liverpool and re-iterated their intent to keep the player. I keep saying the same thing over and over but the Liverpool fans are convinced he is coming. If the club decides they would like him in January they need to go and ask Mr Emanalo if that would be possble. So there is nothing changed or new.}

04 Jan 2018 16:27:04
So that’s a maybe then 😂😂 cheers for the reply bud much appreciated thanks. 👍.

Sky Germany apparently stating we are back in contract talks with Emre Can, can the eds confirm this? Or is he a goner?

Don't mind so much if he goes but it would be better to get some money for him at some point!

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - i think hes a goner boydy..

04 Jan 2018 13:30:09
I'll be gutted if he goes, he always does so well for me on FIFA : (.

04 Jan 2018 13:41:01
He's going and good luck to him.

Can is gone, to much water under that bridge. Klopp wouldn't guarentee playing time and exit Claus.

04 Jan 2018 14:44:24
By now life goes on.

Agree5 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 14:46:27
I thought Can was supposed to remain in the club until summer when he'll walk for free? Eds?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure he is "supposed" to but I expect that he will.}

04 Jan 2018 14:49:31
Not quick or mobile enough.
File under Charlie Adam, Lucas Leiva (post-knee op), Suso etc etc.
Hopefully the Ox gets a bit more playing time now.

Agree6 Disagree8

04 Jan 2018 15:22:21
@Juicer

What? Did you seriously just compare Can to Charlie Adam?
I've always liked Can. With his powerful storming runs, neat footwork that looks clumsy but somehow comes off, his rushes of blood to the head and gorgeous slick hair. I'm not going to start pretending otherwise should he leave. It happens. And I don't think one of the biggest clubs in Europe were too interested in Charlie Beefcake Adam.

Agree19 Disagree1

04 Jan 2018 16:52:43
Charlie Adam's corners alone were worth £10m though, Meister 😂

I like my men a bit rough around the edges, and Charlie was rougher than a Glaswegian alleyway.

Agree8 Disagree2

04 Jan 2018 18:12:42
bumped into him in san carlo a couple times, charlie adam certainly was/ is rough around the edges, his missus though, anything but ;0.

04 Jan 2018 09:27:15
Hi eds! Tried a search but no joy, are there any teams that are interested in sturridge? I fail to see how anyone could see him as a reliable option given how injury prone he is. Also when does his contract end? Seems like that’s his only way out.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Real Betis were interested in a loan but that has moved on. If Besiktas cannot get their first choice player (and they are meeting with his club today) then you can expect them to ask to take Sturridge on loan.}

04 Jan 2018 13:54:56
Thanks Ed. Hope he can regain some fitness and get a permanent move.

04 Jan 2018 00:41:19
Hi Eds

First time poster but regularly check the site.

Has there been any consideration for Lanzini? Looks a smashing player with potential to improve with better players and a system that would suit?

Cheers
Seosamh.

Believable3 Unbelievable11

{Ed001's Note - this has been answered, he was watched and so far his lack of consistency has seen him not be an option for recommendation to sign.}

04 Jan 2018 13:18:45
If we sold Milner coutinho can and lemar and Keita came in at the end of the season, I wouldn't say no as a squad player.

Agree0 Disagree2

04 Jan 2018 18:54:58
Lanzini is ridiculously inconsistent and barely has one good game in six or seven and even then it’s usually against us. Ask yourself why no one else has had a look at him? It’s because he’s not very good.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 23:18:02
Evening Eds. I watched a few Ajax games this season and Ziyech really stands out for them. Looks the best player in the erdivisie.

Hes playing a role in a midfield 3 now similar to what coutinhos done this season.

Ive never heard his name mentioned with all the coutinho replacements being bandied about.

Surely he's not going to stay in that league much longer? Any interest from us at all?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - one of a large number who have looked at him but nothing more yet.}
